Bellerin injured, undergoes scan on ankle! Ivan says Arsene is not Arsenal!

“Arsenal is not Arsène Wenger. They’re not one in the same thing. He’s been clear and we’ve always been clear, that’s a mutual decision as to how long he’ll continue. Both need to be on the same page on that. In a football sense, he has transformed the club.”

Those are the words of Ivan Gazidis, who together with the rest of the Arsenal board and us fans, must be wondering whether or not Arsene Wenger will remain as Arsenal manager once this current season comes to an end. I strongly suspect any decision has already been made as why would any ambitious club want to start searching for a manager so late in the day. If Arsene walks away in May and the board weren’t aware before hand, it’ll be a mad dash to find a replacement before the transfer window opens and I really can’t see Ivan and co working like that. In any case, I’m convinced he’s staying put for another couple of years at least.

But any decision if already made, could change, especially if Arsenal slip out of the Premier League race by Christmas, worse still for Stan would be not qualifying for the Champions League once the season ends. A domestic cup or two might be on the cards but would that be enough for the fans?

I’d really love for Arsenal to win the league but it’ll be hard, certainly harder than last season as so many sides seem to be stronger this campaign. Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City, Everton, even Crystal Palace are looking good. Utd and Chelsea have been struggling which is always something to smile about but both Mourinho and Konte will surely get things sorted out and improve on their current form. Either that or they’ll spend another few million in January in hope that that works. Mind you, the thought of both clubs slipping further down the table is a nice one, as would the Totts joining them be.

Our next four fixtures are at home, the first being Swansea who have a newly appointed manager in Bob Bradley, an soccer manager – one who if does well, might catch the eye of Stan Kroenke! He’s no stranger to the game though, he has a managerial CV longer than Arsene Wenger although the Premier League will be a whole different ball game for him.

Anyway, there’s a week before that match kicks off. Hector Bellerin picked up an injury last night and has had a scan on his ankle. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. There are more international fixtures to come over the next few days so fingers crossed our players will return fit and healthy before our domestic campaign gets going again….

Have a good Friday guys.

    Morning All
Never thought I would see someone
stand up at the the club and say:
    “Arsene’s not The Arsenal”
Give Gazza another week at most.

    Buongiorno Lovelies and Hunkies

Rico…..Gazidis is buying lots of daisy flowers lately. I heard that his recent fad is that of picking off the petals one by one while uttering….he stays…he goes…he stays….he goes.

it seems that he has never arrived to the same conclusion twice in a row.

  3. kelsey says:

Wenger will leave his options open as he controls everything including his boss Gazidis. I want him to go out on a high but that might not happen this season, the main problem is actually Kroenke as Wenger is his excellent bank manager.

  4. kelsey says:

Changing the subject I was reading numerous fans want standing areas brought back at The Emirates. The hard core Away fans nearly always stand, but I don’t think it will happen but those of you who go to games would know better.

With a doubt over Bellerin, what on earth has happened to Debuchy? Know he was injured start of season but not made a squad since? Jenkinson only just back after 9 months, so he might be needed?

  6. BT62 Gooner says:

Scott, i tend to agree with Rico, would he have spent £89m with the thought of leaving at the end of the season? imo no.(unless things go really tits up this season..lol)

As for his contract, apparently the two year extension has been sitting in front of him since last season. If things were to go horribly wrong this season then he may not sign…

On the CL and not qualifying, the club in the past have said they have plans in place if it they do not qualify, god only knows what they may be..

Perhaps Ivan’s extra £1m bonus has made him over confident…..lol

    Morning

  7. rico says:

My thoughts too Bt, and those players signing in the summer would have wanted to know what Wenger’s intentions were surely. As will Alexis, Ozil and Santi….

  8. rico says:

He wouldn’t like that though, he loves control and the day to day stuff..

He’d have to answer to the FA too… 😉

  9. BT62 Gooner says:

Scott, i get where you’re coming from regarding the squad, but it’s like beauty, it’s all in the eye of the beholder….lol

Will the next manager be appointed to fit the squad left behind by Arsene? that’s why i think the large outlay in the last transfer window suggests Arsene will be around for a while yet..(unless things go tits up big time..lol)..

A different manager may have different ideas on how we should play on the pitch and certain squad members may not suit his approach…unless Arsene has ideas on who should succeed him, which imo is a no,no….

But like most things in life, time will tell..

  10. Le Coq Monster says:

Too true Scott !………………………………I cant imagine how earning £8m per year would be stressless !…………I mean the planning that will go into my Harem will give me a head ache for starters and that straight away defeats the object of having a Harem !………..obviously I will have a woman for everyday of the year and trying to remember their names would be a problem so I`ve come up with a simple solution !…………..they will all be named after every day in the year…..January 1st….January 2nd etc etc etc……………….the current missus will be renamed February 29th !……..nothing changes there !…..sex every 4 years !.

  11. BT62 Gooner says:

Rico, you’re right regarding new players and Arsene, Alexis and Ozil perhaps in the short term. Imo this season could be a defining one for both, if Arsenal don’t win something substantial.

I’m sure both know they would be welcomed with open arms at other clubs better equipped to challenge for the big honours in club football..

As for Arsene and England being less stressful, if he did take the job if offered, imagine if it didn’t work out on the pitch for England.Do you think an England fan base made up of supporters from numerous clubs being as forgiving as the Emirates crowd? I doubt it very much, could he handle the abuse on such a scale again i think not…

Blocks 6 to 10 on the north bank lower stand already. I would prefer that they left things as they are , at least you can sit down at half time. I think the ones that want change want a free standing area with no allocation for places which might end up getting over crowded. The pictures of the German examples show little booth type areas with crush barriers , can’t really see the advantage and can’t see the price reduction they want either. The club are more likely to make the standing area the existing price and put the price up for those that have seats. .

  13. rico says:

Good points there BT. And we just know the British media would right at him if Wenger got things wrong with England. Boy wouldn’t they have a field day….

  14. Joaquim Moreira says:

Im concern for the next game. They change their coach. Not good for us…
Bellerrin out? we haven’t any right back fit… TW at RB ?

  15. Wavy says:

The England manager’s job is a poisoned chalice. The only chance any manager who is foolish enough to take the post is, no chance!
The press and public seem to think that Enland should rule the world, but the sad truth is that we do not nor have had the quality of players, in any number who can make a difference, ie we have a dearth of world class players. In fairness I think that all the managers from Walter Winterbottom to fat Sam have done their best to prepare our teams for all games, the problem they have faced is that the players are not capable of performing on the field to a level that remotely gets them in the title contenders bracket.
Would Wenger want to his days dealing with a moderately talented group of players who he knew had absolutely no chance of achieving success? It would be just like managing the Arsenal for the last ten years!!

    Afternoon all.

  16. rico says:

Seems Wenger has publicly said that the England manager should be English Wavy…

Didn’t realise Monreal had been called up for Spain.. Shame!

  17. allezkev says:

There’s really nothing to chat about is there?

As long as all our players return in one piece the football over the next few days is irrelevant…

Watching Donald Trump is quite entertaining I guess…

    Ok, off to work, lata….

  18. ScottfromOz says:

    G’day Kev.
I watched a video today of Clinton from quite a few years ago, and she is equally as entertaining, and every bit as abhorrent, but for different reasons.
A few hundred million population, and that’s the two choices?
The world is a scary place.

  19. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning Marshall.
Politics is a haven for the useless to fail dismally, and be well rewarded for it 🙂

  20. potter says:

They always said in upper class circles that if you had two thick sons , send one to Westminster and the other to the clergy.

  21. Marshall says:

Hi Scott, well true. Of politics, imagine if our club was like Barca or Real who have to elect a president now and then….my hunch is things would be ugly.

I’d like where the fans have more stake and some control of the club, but elections…

  22. Obi says:

Hi Guys, I never get this hatred for the international breaks, except of course a player coming back injured, like the Paraguay player giving Ospina the knee yeaterday, but there has been some good games. There are about 50 games in 3 days on various network. At any rate, after these 2 breaks next break will be in March 2017, 4 months. That should make people happy lol.

  23. Micko says:

Kinda agree with you Obi, the Arsenal games tend to get in the way these days, I’m already looking forward to the next round of qualifiers next month.

  24. Obi says:

I love that Micko. Lol. I see the sarcasm. And to think my man Sonogo is the starting CF for the next Arsenal game…

  25. Obi says:

Marshall, the way Ecuador handled Chile yesterday we don’t have to worry about Sanchez the entire Chile team slept….

  26. Obi says:

Here watching Ivory Coast vs Mali. How is Eric Bailly playing for MU? He is crap. Btw the best pitch I have seen in an Afican Nations game I thought they were in France, you know two French speaking countries but in Ivory, hum…about time.

  27. Micko says:

On a more serious note, has anybody alerted Air, Sea & Land rescue for rico lol !

    Nite Gooners, keep it real.
