Be careful what you wish for…..

Morning all.

That good old statement which is often written when anyone defends Arsene Wenger. A manager who so often in the last ten years has been more than ten points off the eventual league champions. A manager who no matter who we face in the last sixteen of the Champions League, he can’t beat despite having seen his side on the European stage every season since he arrived. During his early reign he did manage one final and an odd quarter-final but apart from that, he simply cannot work out how to send his team out to win a two-legged tie against other clubs in Europe. Even when it looked like lady luck was on our side when being drawn against Monaco, he messed that one up. And Monaco weren’t the side then that they are now.

Oops, silly me. I forgot the two massive FA Cup victories. We played so well to get to those finals didn’t we and against Hull City, we really did well. Ok, seriously, I’m glad we won them both as I love the FA Cup but……

Hang on, top four every season is a remarkable achievement and there are many clubs who’d love to have managed that for the last twenty years….. Yawn! Of course they would but I bet if they were good enough to continually be up and around the top, they’d go that one step further and actually try and win the league. But Liverpool haven’t won the league for twenty years says Arsene. No, but you can see they are trying to now, just as City, Utd, Spurs are and even Everton will challenge next season if they keep on improving. Meanwhile, we get beaten by the likes Crystal Palace, West Brom etc and all because they know our weaknesses, weaknesses which Arsene Wenger has failed to address. Set-pieces! Stoke away will be little different in a couple of weeks time as you can bet that horrible man Mark Hughes has been on the phone to Big Sam and Tony Pulis for a few words of advice. That’s if he hasn’t worked it out already which to fair, wouldn’t be too difficult.

So as we sit 6th in the league, still we must be careful for what we wish for because a new manager with new ideas, new coaching staff, more ambition, a tactical brain, motivational skills etc etc, would of course, only take our club further away from success.

Nah. All you Arsene Wenger lovers, it’s you who need to be careful what you wish for because if the Frenchman stays, not only will we be out of the Champions League next season, but we’ll be out of Europe too. In fact with so many clubs around us improving, goodness knows what dizzy lows he’ll take us to….

For the last 3 months or so our results would have had us in the bottom 4 not the top. If we carry on as we are there is a real possibility of the Arsenal finishing in the lower reaches of the EPL. Or worse. We really have been playing that badly, imo.

Morning all blue skies and sunshine here. Marvellous. The god Wenger has waved his elegant wand over our location. Wonderful.

  2. bill davis says:

wow I apologise, there was me, wondering where we would get a replacement for the very intelligent balanced and erudite Arsene, and now its hit me like a thunderbolt. I am converted, its RICO. he has all the answers. it turns out that all the pundits and all the players he has ever worked with are wrong and A. W is a wally. we have been wasting our time with this manager when we could have had RICO. his way of reading all the statistics has made me realise that even the F A cup is not really a trophy. and his assured and positive character assassination and dismissal of anyone he doesn’t agree with is simply world class. arsenal should immediately make this man the coach by taking out his teeth, and putting seats in! one question rico, would you be available to handle the brexit negotiations alongside your new arsenal duties.

  3. Kel says:

    Nice post Rico…

    Wavy Arsenal’s last 15 league games…..
    W 6
    D 2
    L 7
    GF. 23
    GA 23
    Pts accumulated 20.

    Palace have accumulated 22pts
    Hull have accumulated 21pts
    Burnley have accumulated 16pts
    Swansea have accumulated 17pts

    Utd have accumulated 29pts
    City have accumulated 27pts
    Spurs have accumulated 38pts
    Chelsea have accumulated 32pts

  4. rico says:

    Thanks Kel.

And to think there are still fans out there who think that kind of form is acceptable. It’s shocking when compared to those around and below us. Not to mention the CL…

  5. bill davis says:

whatever your opinion is, passion is great, hysteria isn’t. is it still ok to disagree?

  6. rico says:

Try coming up with an actual reason why Wenger should stay and someone might start listening to you Bill, but all you do is type a load of old tosh which makes no sense and lives in the past…

You don’t, because probably, you can’t! The man is past it and you know it…

  7. Lee says:

Bill maybe you could be Le Prof’s replacement, well that is if we could get you surgically removed from his sphincter.

  8. Mabo says:

Bill you are a troll if you are not dude trust me you are delusional. Wenger is a knob and has been for a long time. He can not fix the Arsenal he is totally useless now. A great manager in the past I’m sure a great man to his peers. But as an Arsenal manager dude even a dog can manage Arsenal better. As for Rico we SHE can manage Arsenal much better. You calling Rico out for no good reason

  9. rico says:

I couldn’t Mabo but then what I would do is employ people around who could… Just like Wenger does. Not.

    Lee, that could be tricky…

  10. Dick says:

I used to be a member of a site that for for many years had mature discussion. This site has become a boring one-sided witch hunt

    Unsubscribe

  11. rico says:

You are free to think what you like Dick but for me, there is nothing positive in the Arsenal world right now and although the board and owner have a lot to answer for, the man who coaches and prepares the players is getting something seriously wrong.

If you choose to see things differently, then that’s your choice. If Wenger stays, come back this time next season and tell us all what you think eh..

  12. bill davis says:

dear arsenal fans, a great politician once said YOU CAN PROVE OR DISPROVE ANYTHING WITH STATISTICS example; in the first world war they decided to ditch the cloth hats and switch to metal helmets because they were sustaining too many head injuries. having done so they reviewed the results some months later. they found that the head injuries had increased by 90% and were about to scrap the dearer metal helmets when one concerned medical officer said “you cant do hat, death by head injuries has decreased by 500%”!. moral; don’t let people bamboozle you with statistics I believe we have had a very difficult season, we have looked very unlike arsenal in terms of reaction to playing poorly and determination and slow starts. we have also been trying to integrate chaka and elneny too quickly because of another injury crisis, particularly Cazorla.this is one of the areas I am completely unhappy with A.W about, how many injuries we get, how long they last, and how they ruin our seasons, even now when we have a stronger squad.this needs addressing. the 5 teams above us have all been mentioned as improving, but all have had BIG DIP seasons recently, apart from spuds who tend to dip out at the end of seasons. be passionate, stay faithful

  13. Kk says:

He was once a good manager…not anymore

This is wenger who brought us sanogo and a bloke with a broken back, kept casualities like diaby and rosisky for eternity, don’t believe in leaders in the pitch, contradict himself all the time, thinks in-play tactics is to fiddle with his coat zip, didn’t sign an outfield player for a whole season when we obviously needed at least 4, and who still thinks Giroud is the answer to lead our attack.
He has become a fraud. .
Give it a rest will ya!!

  14. bill davis says:

so Rico really isn’t a Knob. just shows I don’t discriminate Lee and Mabo, I bow to your superior wit and wisdom and Dick sorry mate but I had this site sussed as soon as I fell over it, Rico has now give you permission to be free and think what you like, but only because your going!

  15. bill davis says:

Kk this is the man that gave us henry pires ljungberg overmas anelka petit viera Campbell suarez ozil lehman bellerin I am bored with this, and his friend and right hand man was, yes you guessed it David Dein staunch arsenal man who the americans got rid of

  16. Obi says:

Rico @ 1:34 re there’s nothing positive at Arsenal right now; I beg to differ – we have only one AW, the best talent evaluator in footbal. We all know the story of AW following Kante since he was 16 yrs. Well apparently the same guy who told him about Kante told him about Mbappe 3 years ago so last year Arsene went to Mbappe house and had a sit down with him and his parents but decided not to sign him. Astonishing!!! Apparently he could had had the kid for 7m.

Yup Bill this is the man who brought us all those players you mentioned….. the moral? Bill Arsene is done. Maybe he was good at one point, but not anymore.

  17. Malaga gooner says:

    Afternoon Rico and the house

Allegri is exactly what we need.. I have watched him closely the last 10 or so games… What a coach he would be for the Arsenal… I don’t think we would need a big clear out , he could work with what we’ve got

  18. allezkev says:

Adam, I think you must look rather fetching in your red strides.

I doubt that any of the luddites who come here, go to the games, have season tickets or ever have to spend their hard earned cash following the team.

I doubt that many, if any, know any other manager than Arsene Wenger, therefore they have a narrow view with nothing else to compare with the Lord Wenger.

All the same it’s quite entertaining in a self-harming type of way…

  19. Wath says:

The Americans got rid of David Dein did they….? guess again… David Dein was the one who brought the yank into the fold..!

Hill-wood and Fizmann had Dein escorted off the premises..!

  20. Wath says:

Amazing how so many fans still think there is no one out there to replace a once great manager, wonder what these fans said when Arsene who was appointed back in the day..! Scared of the great unknown yet we pretty much know what we are going to get if things stay the same.

  21. Obi says:

Malaga @ 3:01 PM…… I have been saying that for a long time. Allegri’s preparation, in-game management, selection and man management is exceptional; and the fact that he wants to come to the EPL is a win, win situation for Arsenal. The guy is so underrated is amazing.

  22. Obi says:

Rice @ 3:26, I thought Bill will appreciate that.. It make you wonder if some of these guys watch the games.

  23. rico says:

Hi Mg, I think many of us would love to see Allegri at Arsenal. Apart from the Wenger worshippers of course…

Wath. Surely reality will soon catch up with them…

  24. Marshall says:

Ah Arsene apologists, Bill if you think our problem as in your view is early integration of Xhaka and Elney boy you are off the mark. What about thAt season Wenger never signed an outfield player and lied Welbeck was 2-3 weeks away after he had surgery? That showed Wenger’s stand and he was happy to screw the fans over. Had we strengthened then we won’t be having cracks now.

How about after a walloping tje captain says from the start the opponents wanted it more. It’s psychotic to think only Wenger can take us forward as even AKBs acknowledge Arsene is having a ‘blip’.

TH14, PV04 were strong players he signed over 15 years ago. Nowadays he has weaklings and clinging to an ‘English core’ that cannot get in to a team in top 5.

As for Dick, well your folks knew what you’ll turn out to be.

  25. Mabo says:

Thank you Bill. I will raise my hand and say the truth I only know Wenger as the Arsenal manager. But as a sports fan I believe he is past it at least at Arsenal. So Bill and Dick we know he was great but man has he lost the plot. Useless utterly useless. And for you to come and act high and mighty in his support proves how delusional you lot are. Our club is loosing ground and not about to catch up and you wanna divert the pressure from Wenger. He must go no money or amount of time will save him now

  26. Herb's Army says:

    Hi Rico and HH.

Hi Bill (unlike Wenger, who has been a whoppingly high bill), you’ve waded in with a very passionate defence of Wenger.
    May I ask why?
How do you explain rubbish like Theo being on over £100k a week?
Can you think of any other top club in world football being so hopelessly under-prepared and exposed that they had to recall a former goalkeeper out of retirement? Or a centre-half out of semi-retirement?
Why are you defending a man who willingly sacrificed the title in 2014 and 2016?
For all the things you claim he has got right, there are literally thousands of examples of things he has got horribly wrong.
His early success is largely due to the characters that were at Arsenal, in part, a carry-over from George Graham (who arguably did better than Wenger), and Bruce Rioch (who bought in Dennis Bergkamp). Since he’s been responsible for his own players and tactical set-up, Arsenal have become flat-track bullies, playing wonderful expansive football against lesser teams, and having all their tactical flaws exposed by the bigger teams.
A manager who spent £90 million last summer and we are even further behind.
Without Arsenal and David Dein he would have been a jobbing manager grateful for any little management offer. The Emirates move has exposed him as a distinctly average manager who, through the lack of due diligence and care from the Arsenal hierarchy, has garnered far more fame than he warrants.
At any proper football club with real ambition whose Board and owners demand CL and league titles, Wenger wouldn’t last longer than a year.
Wenger enablers like you Bill, are seriously damaging the long term health of The Arsenal.

  27. Alex says:

    Hello Rico !

I know Le Prof has to go because i follow him for long time and the man has nothing left in his locker.Period .

    Moyes ….
Booted by Manure and relegated with Sunderland.

But i still rate him because from what i saw what he did at Everton .Honestly i fancy him more than Moaninho.

The likes of Allegri and others is worth to mention that PL is entirely different from Italy.
I know Conte did great job at his first season but that does not mean every Italian can do it.

I dont think that Kronke either will bank roll the new comer at will.

I am still inclined toward someone of Moyes like.

    Me think so

    Evening Rico and All

    Has Scott changed his name?

    Past managers in my time.
    Berti Mee done OK
Even Terry(Silly)Neill got to 3 Cup Finals
G Graham nearly went undefeated one season.
With had our moments Pre Arsene FC.

I’m not sure why any Gooner cannot see
    The games up for Arsene.
Yer..he must be getting shafted somewhere
because he won’t say if his staying or going,
its now May he promised we would know by now.
It looks like to me Gazza and Josh has suggested
to Arsene..You could do with a little help mate.

And we all know..Arsene has had a million games
    of experience..And Know’s it all.

  29. Rick says:

    Evening Rico and the House.
Great day with plenty of the fizzy stuff.
Kev Dermot Drummy has left Crawlet is he coming back.
    Great if he is.

  30. BT62 Gooner says:

Evening all, steady on the old bubbly you may need some for next week,Rick

    Happy birthday mate..

  31. allezkev says:

    Is that right Rick?

Well you heard it here first mate if it comes off…
Maybe if Drummy returns we’ll see an improvement in recruitment with boys sourced from outside the M25, scouting in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, North England, West Country, East Anglia, the places we got players like Radford, Armstrong, Simpson, Kelly, Rice, Nelson, Brady, Stapleton, Devine, O’Leary and many more…

Yes Bill, and this may well surprise you, Arsenal did exist before 1996 and other Arsenal managers actually won trophies.

Hey Rick, how many glasses of bubbly did you have?

  32. Lee says:

What cracks me up is the Wenger apologists that come here moaning about HH, it’s rose tinted pricks like you that have been holding The Arsenal back….. if you don’t like the site don’t come on here moaning, go onto UA where you can blow smoke up wenger’s/each other’s pipes!

Be careful what you wish for you say…. well I wish you’d all fuck off back to Grampus 8 with your saviour, whilst sporting red hats chanting “there’s only on Arsene Wenger!”

    Allegri in!!!

  33. Lee says:

If you don’t like the site, don’t read it,don’t comment on it, go set your own blog up blaming long shore drift on why Arsenal have been so shit for 10yrs plus…..

  34. Rick says:

Hi all thanks for your birthday wishes.
I have had a few today but I have a few put by for next week.
Kev both Dermot and his assistant have left by mutual consent,
I have a feeling he will not be out of work for long.

This afternoon I was shown a item on face book.
It was written by a Charles Watts and stated there is a big meeting at Highbury House where Kroenki and Wenger have things to sort out.
Rico are you going to be the Chair Person??? LOL

  35. Joaquim Moreira says:

    MU one up
AW’s lifespan is over. He kept alive the access to the CL, St.Totts Day and in almost every year, to fight for the title until near the end, besides the access to some finals. The balance was, in my view, positive.
But everything in life has an end and the cycle is over. And in this case, you have to realize that it’s over. Knowing how to get off at the right time is also a virtue.
Arsenal needs a new cycle. A new speech, new faces, unite again around a new project that stimulates confidence, desire for victories and more fans.

  36. bill davis says:

HERBS ARMY that’s a reasonable post, and ill get back to you in a minute, but first lets clear up some more vitriolic attacks on people who assume they know best. Allez Kev you obviously only read what you want, otherwise you would know after yesterdays blog that I am 62, attended the 1968 league cup against third division Swindon town, but like so many hysterical haters on this blog you assume you know it all, as does WATH. David Dein didn’t like the americans and was very pro Usmanov that’s why he was outed. this site is full of haters, who cannot respect anyone that dares have a different view. that’s how dictators and fascists work. they are so convinced they are right they would not contemplate any examples of clubs that have changed managers and gone downhill. so, instead of banter they try to savage and destroy anyone who dares come to a more cautious conclusion. that is the only pleasure I get from this broken site, to throw a few hand grenades in. this site should be called the A, W haters club, even though they sit in the very seats that he was instrumental in building with arsenal. back to Herbs Army. I would like to say that although my view is that A W should and will stay, I have reservations and concerns on that myself. I look at Wenger sometimes and do worry. as a lifelong arsenal supporter I have seen some sparse times, but I have never used the term capitulation and humiliation like I have in the last couple of seasons for arsenal. and I wonder what Frank Mclintock and Peter Storey would make of this lot. leaving 2 centre backs has been exposed and exploited and even A W’s stubbornness has relented about this. I believe A W is arsenal through and through, and he’s clever and proud and he will turn it around but on the other hand if he doesn’t in the next 2 years, I will gladly accept he should go. promoted to the board in recognition of his services, not run out of town with his head on a pole, as some on this site would have it. if some arsenal fan or fans would have said to me “hes lost the plot bill, what drugs are you on” that’s banter, on this site love of arsenal don’t shine through, just vitriol, abuse and fascism. COYG

  37. allezkev says:

Morning Rico, as I read the above, the sun disappeared ☹️

Morning Mr Adam, I wonder if we’ll get any visits from the red hat community today?

    Morning All.

  38. rico says:

    Morning Kev.

Bill. Ok bearing in mind what you have written, how do you think Wenger can take us forward? How can he improve the football both domestically and in Europe? You think he should stay which is fine, but why when you are aware of his downfalls on the pitch?

  39. allezkev says:

I wonder, if after the strange decision of omitting Rob Holding recently, that Wenger will go with our excellent young centre-back for the remaining games of this rather underwhelming season?

I like Kieron Gibbs, but he isn’t a better left back than Monreal and Monreal isn’t a better centre-back than Holding, so why the change?

If it was tactical then it didn’t work.

  40. bill davis says:

Lee and Rico my opinion or go!! it must be wonderful to be perfect. lets see if we can get someone to put toys back in you pram. ITS OK TO DISAGREE unless you are fascist.

  41. rico says:

Oh. As for David Dein. He jumped into bed with Kroenke long before he did Usmanov. I believe it was only when PHW said ‘we don’t need the likes of him’ – meaning Kroenke, he sided with Usmanov…

  42. allezkev says:

Rico, it would make sense, providing he’s fit enough, to go with either Welbeck (or Alexis) as our centre-forward for the last few games.
I see absolutely no point in starting Giroud, he doesn’t get the right service and isn’t mobile enough in our present set-up.
The season is fading away so just go for it, much ascthey went for it at Wembley.
This season’s gone, it’s one to forget, in fact, why not give Maitland-Niles a couple of games?

  43. rico says:

I’d agree Kev. Without getting crosses to Ollie, he’s ineffectual and he’s hardly likely to get the better of Mourinho’s bus. Maybe bring him on from the bench as Wenger did at OT…

    I’d start Lucas too…

  44. allezkev says:

Ah Bill, no I didn’t realise your age, that’s possibly because when you get angry and began ranting, that is when I stop reading.
To come on here and start abusing and insulting everyone isn’t really the way to join in the debate, is it?
So if you get some barbs in return, you shouldn’t really be surprised.

  45. bill davis says:

Rico, let me turn that back on you, what makes you so damn sure that getting in a new manager will take us forward? What if he takes us sideways or back, what if he changes half the players and we end up with a mish mash and we finish tenth. why is getting a new manager the ultimate solution when its just a step towards attempting to find a better solution. you over simplify a solution. I believe A W will turn it around and re-invent tactics because the penny has dropped. I believe he has done enough on and OFF the field for arsenal to warrant a bit more time and some of our best players will go if he goes. we need evolution not revolution. what if…………arsenal win the FA cup and nick fourth spot, everyone on board? I think not. if nothing changes next season I’m for gently and politely kicking him upstairs.

  46. bill davis says:

ALLEZ KEV I came on this site and tried to pay tribute to a manager I respect, and the abuse came to me. it is obvious that this site cannot live life with different opinions. and you have clearly grouped together and chased away anyone with anything good to say about A W. , like sharks in a feeding frenzy. if you are like this with fellow supporters how on earth do you get on with other teams supporters? what would you call a group of people that will not “live alongside” other people with different opinions, please tell me. if I get banned I will just laugh, because you will just carry on congratulating each other, back slapping each other, high fives the lot. safe, smug and full of hate, aand looking for your next victim. have you ever tried banter? try reading animal farm

  47. Mabo says:

Bill go pay Tribute to the manager you love at Untold Arsenal. Them knows love Wenger like you. In 10 yrs no league title, in 20 yrs no champs league title, no quality signings just pure mediocrity and you call us fascists. Wenger is useless so Bill your love means nothing but you must know we respect and admire Wenger for his achievements but as an Arsenal manager he must go that door knob
