Bayern Munich might just spare Arsenal…

Morning all.

Bayern Munich sacked manager Niko Kovac over the weekend after one dismal result too many. Saturday’s disastrous 5-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt being the final nail in his footballing managerial coffin.

Firstly, isn’t that how things should be done, swift, no messing and before their season is totally ruined. Secondly, Jose Mourinho has become the instant favourite to replace Kovac which if proves to be justified and he gets the job this week, he won’t be heading to Arsenal. Exhale!

Theres no denying what the Portuguese manager has achieved is up there with some of the best, but he’s poison. Sacked twice by Chelsea because his ego clashed with his players and his short stint at Man Utd, securing second spot and a Europa Cup, was overshadowed by his spat with Pogba among other players. He seldom brings through youth players, he spends millions and his press interviews are as bad as Emery’s. The only difference being Mourinho speaks better English. Mourinho is about Mourinho and in my opinion, at any cost. He doesn’t care about the club he manages, just the trophies he wins. As much as he’d probably sort our defending out, he’d ruin the rest.

Josh, Raul and co need to think twice, no, many times before making what I believe would be a dreadful decision should they think appointing him as Arsenal manager would be a good idea.

Unai Emery’s spell at Arsenal is coming to an end I’m sure. Whether that’s imminent or at the end of the season but it’s coming unless by some miracle something clicks overnight and that’s not going to happen. The only question now is who will replace him?

The usual names will be linked to us I’m sure. Arteta, Vieira, Henry, Allegri, the list will be endless but of course, many of the names linked are  already employed so on top of paying Emery off if he’s sacked mid-season, Arsenal would have to stump up a fee to get their man from another club. Unless Allegri is their top target because he’s enjoying time away from the game right now. Bayern might already be eyeing his services though but if reports in the media are to believed, he wanted the Arsenal job before someone in their wisdom decided Emery would be the better option.

A few younger managers, relatively unknown might have caught the Arsenal boards eye. The likes of Pablo Machin who plays ’organised and attractive football.’

Domenico Tedesco, Florian Kohfeldt, Erik Ten Hag and Ivan Leko. Julian Nagelsmann is someone we’ve all heard of, as is Eddie Howe.

So now it’s your choice. Hypothetical of course, but if your job was to choose the next Arsenal manager, who would it be. Without any obstacles in place of course…

    Hi Rico

Agreed re Mourinho, He’s the last one I’d want. I think the best way to find a replacement is to put all the names in a hat and get Mystic Meg to pick one out. It’s as good a way as any 🙂

Bayern operating the way a big club should?! No surprises there.

Our club is so badly run, anyone can see Emery is done and has been for a while now, so what is the hold up? I don’t understand how the bloke is still in a job, our board will feel the ire of the fans if they destroy our season by keeping him on until we’re completely out of the top 4 race.

Another long season ahead, and one that for once I was quite optimistic about. Sigh……….

  3. Bergkamp2Wright says:

And Mourinho is pure poison, if they are seriously thinking about giving him the job then we are in a worse state than I could of imagined.

    Morning all.
    Arteta for me.
Emery must be replaced sooner rather than later, no matter who the replacement, as the damage for this season could be too much to reverse.

  5. Limey says:

As the late Mr Hill – Wood once said, we don’t want his sort around here, he was talking about silent Stan, but it applies to the Portuguese poison dwarf too.
My choice would be Allegri, if Bayern Munich don’t snap him up first. Maybe Freddie/Vieira as interim.
    Just be decisive!

If we lose aginst Leicester & Chelsea also win at home to C Palace we will be NINE points behind both Leics & Chelsea, & the way they are both playing making that up & overtaking one of them already seems a daunting task Emery has lost the fans . I think any manager that loses the fans is doomed & as far as we are hearing Emery is also losing some at least of the players. So unless we beat Leicester this w/end I feel he HAS to go to give ourselves a chance of top 4.
I would like Nagelsmann but he has only just gone to Leipzig so unlikely to come to us now.
But one thing I think HAS to be ESSENTIAL for our next manager is a GOOD command of English. The players not being able to understand Emery has been a big part of his problem

    Morning all. Interesting proposition Rico.

    Right, fantasy manager!

The no, no is Mourino. After his spats with both the running of the club and the integrity etc of Wenger, I wouldn’t even let him near the front door and even less invite him through it. Total tosser.

We couldn’t attract Rodgers. Why would he leave a really well balanced, efficiently run and friendly club like Leicester City? It is also on the up whilst we are clearly in decline. Oh, and they are cash rich, unlike us they’re not pleading poverty. Apart from which his dazzling teeth would eventually lead to the fans contracting partial blindness from his over white reflective knashers😎

If we could attract him Allegri would be top of the list followed by George Graham (except he’s too old now!) there are plenty of good/promising mangers across Europe many of whom may well fit the bill

We need a new broom, someone who is revolutionary as Wenger was when he first arrived or Pep has been and still is, for now, at least. I think his star is beginning to wane. We’ll see at the end of the season.

It may well be time to bring in a young manager who has new ideas. Someone who ‘knows’ the Premiership and can adapt the players to play a style of football that is both entertaining and productive. Freddie? Perhaps. What we don’t want is another Emery who has/had no idea of how to set up his players or to be successful at this level and in this League. Someone who can turn our 25 man playing squad into an effective team, and not 11 bodies playing in their own bubble because they have no plan or direction or control over on field events, no cohesion, as we have now.

The sooner the Board get a grip and pay this guy off the better. He’s already outstayed his welcome. Time to say bye bye.

If we can’t get who we want right now, I’m right behind Freddie getting the job in the interim too Limey. He’d probably call on one of his old invincible teammates to help him out..

  9. rico says:

I think we could get Rogers Wavy, maybe not until the end of the season but who wouldn’t want to manage a club in the heart of London? We’ve got everything going for us I reckon…

  10. potter says:

Lets throw Chris Wilder into the mix , He’s been through the mill of lower league and is doing wonders with Sheffield United . He is an organiser that gets the best from what he has . With our resources he could work wonders.

  11. Obi says:

If you believe him, Raul said he has not spoken to Mourinho in years. So that’s the end of that story hopefully.
My choice is Allegri, followed by Arteta. In my opinion, Allegri would not find Bayern attractive because is the same situation as Juventus. He left Juve because the league was not challenging. If that the case why go to Bayern. He stayed in Juve for 2 more years solely becuase of the chance to win CL. With Bayern now, the league is not competitive and their chance of winning the CL is very unlikely. At Arsenal it’s a competitive league and he has a chance to build a championship team.

  12. Andrew Halling says:

Afternoon rico, House. I don’t think for one moment that our board is too different from when AW was allowed to stay tool long, I think its just wishful thinking! Hope I’m wrong though.

For me, Premier experience right now, I’d go for Howe, Arteta or a certain Wolves manager 🙂

  13. Le Coq Monster says:

    Nice one Rico.

My choice is the same as before we got Count Emery.

Simeone, not sure if he speaks English, but one look from him and the players will know !

Second choice is Arteta, it would be a long term choice and I would give him the time (which could be long) to get it right, although would he want the job after being ridiculously over looked in favour of the greasy haired vampire.

    Third would be Austin Allegro.

    Forth Joaquim Moreira.

  14. Cicero says:

One candidate from left field, number two at Everton an Arsenal old boy, knows the Premiership and speaks good English. Luis Boa Morte.

  15. Cicero says:

I’m already disillusioned with Arsenal, appointing Mourinho would be the last straw. If that was the board’s choice I’d go back to a club I watched as a kid when I couldn’t afford to go to Highbury, a ground I could get to for a two penny bus ride, often the conductors refused to take the money from youngsters, and I could get in through a hole in the fence. Queens Park Rangers.

  16. VCC says:

Cicero……QPR is my second team, and my Dad’s team. I was born just round the corner near Ladbroke Grove.

In the sixties my Uncle looked after the away dressing rooms.

So, I have a soft spot for the club.

I may join you, as I’m growing tired of this Arsenal set up. Something is obviously wrong but nothing seems to get done about it.

Aparrently Per is wielding the axe in the academy, rumour 8 staff including Steve Morrow will be gone in a clear out by Mert The Sacker.

  18. Cicero says:

VCC, I lived in Paddington just off the Harrow road. A trolley bus to Scrubs Lane and another bus to Loftus Road. Ah those were the days! 😉

I was Dennis Bergkamp’s co-writer on his website for two years. We spoke most days and met a couple of times a month. I can’t put into words how utterly, utterly unruffled he was by professional trolls like Adrian Durham. He could barely muster a shrug.

  20. allezkev says:

Arsenal head of youth recruitment Steve Morrow is the biggest casualty in a restructuring of the club’s academy scouting set-up.

Sportsmail can also reveal Kevin Beadell, Dan Rice, David Lee, Jay Leffe and Joe Sutton, who all held academy positions, are also leaving the club.

    By Sami Mokbel…
