Barca striker to Arsenal? Koscielny up front and Podolski in goal, that's Jacks choice…..

Morning all.

Apparently, both ourselves and Roma have made offers to Barcelona teenager Tonny Sanabria. He’s a 17-year-old Paraguay international striker and is a Barcelona’s B side regular.

According to The Daily Mail, his representatives held meetings on Wednesday and we are tipped to beat the Italian side to his signature if we trigger the player’s £2.5million buy-out in January.

Another player we are looking at according to the same paper is Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. The 21-year-old may be available on a loan deal.

Neither of course are the big named striker we need but at least Morata can score goals, he’d notched up 12 in 11 for the Spain under 21 side this year.

Sanabria would be a player for the future, if of course this story is true.

Our interest in Basel defender Fabian Schar won’t leave the gossip pages either. The 21 year old right back can also play central so this rumour kind of makes, especially with Sagna’s  future up in the air.

A couple of real moves to tell:

Nico Yennaris has joined Championship side Bournemouth on a temporary deal that will initially run until January 2nd. Hector Bellerin has also departed on loan, he’s gone to Watford until 2nd January.

Now for some light hearted stuff as yesterday was Jacks turn to face ‘silly question time’ – and here’s what he had to say:

Q – If you are not playing with Arsenal on FIFA which team do you choose?

A – Real Madrid. They have got a lot of pace so that comes in handy.

Q – What is the name of the style of your hair?

A – Sweepover.

Q – If you could choose an Arsenal legend to play alongside who would it be?

A – I have trained with Thierry Henry but if I could choose anyone it would be Dennis Bergkamp.

Q – Which Hollywood star would play you in a movie?

A – Tom Cruise

Q – And the leading lady?

A – Eva Mendes

Q –  Favourite Arsenal chant?

A – I like the Olivier Giroud chant, but my favourite one involves me… ‘super Jack Wilshere’.

Q – Favourite stadium in Europe?

A – I have played in quite a few, but Shakhtar Donetsk. It was so nice but similar to the Emirates although it was in blue. They had an underground car park and their changing room was really nice.

Q – What three cities would you like to visit in the United States?

A – New York. I love the city it is amazing.. the restaurants and shops. the whole atmosphere. Maybe Washington as well as I have heard good things. And Las Vegas. I’ve have been there so maybe I would go back there as well.

Q – How important has Arsene Wenger been in your career?

A – He has been the main person. He gave me a chance and brought me into the first team. He put his arm around me. There were a lot of young players coming through but he picked me out. To play with the first team you learn so much. He sent me out on loan to help me get used to Premier League football and when I came back he gave me the chance. Some games I didn’t play well but he still stuck with me. When you make mistakes he stands by you. I have been around for a long time. I should be used to playing week-in, week-out. I am 21 but I have been playing for four or five years and that can only help me. I am looking forward to learning more.

Q – Will your son Archie play for Arsenal?

A – I hope so. He kicks the ball around, but he is only two so I am not putting any pressure on him. Maybe one day I could play with him. When he is 16 I will be 35 so you never know.

Q – Which player leaving left you most upset and which did you get most excited about arriving at Arsenal?

A – I was really upset about Cesc Fabregas leaving. When I played with him I learned so much, he was similar to me in the way he started at a young age. Ozil has just come into the team and he is settling in nicely. I remember his first game at Sunderland. He got an assist and was man of the match. He plays the Arsenal way. A lot of people said he looks so comfortable and he is. If you look at his stats he runs the most but he makes it look so easy so people don’t see how hard he works.

Q – Which player for any team would you like to play alongside?

A – Lionel Messi. Some people say Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world, but for me but is still Messi. He is similar to Ozil in the way he makes it look so easy with the way he glides past players.

Q – Do you enjoy social networking?

A – Yes. It is so easy to talk direct to the fans. It is easy to put my points across, you hear so many stories that are true and some are not. My favourite is Twitter. I am the busiest on that and I am getting a lot of followers so hopefully I can hit 1 million before Christmas.

Q – Favourite Arsenal goal to watch in a game that you were playing in?

A – When we played Barcelona at home in 2011. The second goal started in our box, and Andrey Arshavin finished it off and the atmosphere was so good. When we got the first goal back you knew we would win. When that goal went in the atmosphere was so good and I will remember that for the rest of my life.

Q – Will you be a club legend at Arsenal?

A – That will be nice. There is a long way to go. You look at the legends who have played over 200 games and won something at the club but I am yet to do that. I want to win something with the club and then maybe I can look back and say I was a legend and that would be a dream come true.

Q – Favourite game for Arsenal?

A – The Barcelona one, at the time they were the best in Europe and won the Champions League the year before. They came to the Emirates as strong favourites. They went 1-0 up and it looked as though it would be a long night. But the manager picked us up at half-time and we went out there and almost passed them off the pitch at their own game. I was sitting with my parents afterwards and sat back and thought, “We have just beaten the best team in the world” so it was special .

Q – Which defender would you like up front and which outfield player would go in goal?

A – I’d have Laurent Koscielny up front because he has got a lot of pace and can run in behind and he has got a good strike. Maybe if we were losing 1-0 in the last minute we’d send Per Mertesacker up because he is so tall and could win the headers.

Q – And In goal?

A – Podolski. To be a keeper you have to be crazy and Podolski fits that bill so I would say him.

Q – What would you like to do when you hang up your boots?

A – I would like to think coaching. Even yesterday I did a PE session with kids and I enjoyed that. Growing up football was the only thing I wanted to do. If a pro came back and coached me I would be so happy with that. I don’t want to coach older players, but young kids and hopefully develop them into professionals.

Q – If you had to eat any food to make you strong and healthy what would it be?

A – It would have to be spinach but my favourite food is spaghetti bolognaise.

Q – And the funniest players at Arsenal?

A – The Germans are always doing something and getting up to no good. Podolski is so funny and is always making someone laugh even if he is not in the team he is so happy.

That’s it for another day….

Very happy camp, and a tight knit group.
No doubt it helps when we are winning, but the reverse applies…we a winning because we have a happy squad.

  2. BrainwashedKev says:

Re: Alvaro Vadillo, well if I’ve read about him & according to Gavin from Oz he’s an Arsenal player already (so says Wikipedia) then it must be true….

    Back in the Real World,
    Morning All,
    Morning Gav…
    Morning Rico, fantastic post….
    Off to read it, 😛

  3. BrainwashedKev says:

Scott, Bleachers is the bible that Adam lives his football life from…

If it ain’t on Bleachers, then forget it…

Great post Rico, no really 😀
Podolski sounds crazy. Who said that Germans have no sense of humour…

Jacky Wilshere, future director of the Arsenal Academy perhaps?

  4. BrainwashedKev says:

That Real Madrid striker is, apparently, 6′ 3″ (in old money) so you can see what Wenger has in mind. Morato isn’t it? Another tall striker to act as the axis from where our wonderful midfield work from….

  5. Adam says:

Very disappointing news about Comet Ison. I was really looking forward to watching it through my range of telescopes and binoculars.

Morning all, looks like our little boy Jack is growing up sooo fast. Will go down as a legend one day, so will this whole current team AW is developing. What is nice is that when they go on the field you have the belief they are going to win, no matter against who they are playing. The last time we felt that was with the “Invincibles”. Good feeling. COYG’s.

  7. c2hills says:

WS also has a very good sense of humour. His facebook status on sunday was, “wonderful scenes at the Etihad”. It was priceless.

Morning all, What a jovial post Rico.
I must admit i feel a lot better now i know what Jacks favourite meal is, His insight into what his future may hold, and who he would like up front. I am glad that Podolski has the dressing room in stitches he may just put a smile on my face when he is fit and can make a 90 minute appearance, in fact if that is the case i may not live long enough. Jacks insight into Ozils game has enlightened me, he looks relaxed but he covers more ground than people realise. After that bit of information i understand why people are so glad Theo’s back, as i hadn’t thought that he does enough but obviously i am not watching the game right. As for Jack wanting Kosi and Merts up front, If jack had his eyes open he may just have seen that those two are up for every corner but of course most of our corners only reach the first defender and then they have to sprint back, merts taking a bit more time than Kos. Theo of course recovering from the exhaustion of taking the corner. Yes a blinding post that has made me grin, i may Just breakout with a big laugh when Diaby can reach his boots (never going to happen)

If I remember rightly during the last transfer window all the chat coming out of Madrid was that Morata was being kept to get his opportunity behind Benzema , Ronaldo and Bale . With all three of these scoring it may well be that they now feel that he needs games to develop. It could also suggest that Suarez is off to Madrid and that he Morata is about to drop further down the pecking order.

    Good morning peeps,

A very nice post this morning… the squad should be reading this on their way over the bridge to Cardiff… lol

Comet Ison? Jeez Adam…Don’t tell me Alice Bailey of the Lucis Trust was one of your ex-wives…

  11. stevepalmer1 says:

Lets face it who sells to their imediate rivals, Cole Clichey Nasri Ade, Van Purse and we can’t even get Ba on loan. I know we do a lot for charity but Fcuk me.

I remember being thrilled by Hale-Bop a few years back and I have have always had an interest in the planets but the light pollution in London is a constant hinderance. The Sky At Night is a big favourite of mine.
I must research Alice now. 🙂

  14. potter says:

The night sky on the Broads is one of the great things about living here. No street lights in the village , nearest major town 2 miles away. On a clear night the scene is awesome.

  15. MO11 says:

Morning to all gooners great post to lighten the mood before we get back to business tomorrow just look at our fixture and we have some tough games coming up after Cardiff and Hull so by the end of December I think we will know where we stand.

On Wilshire becoming a legend well if we start winning stuff anf he sticks with the team why not but many of our current side can join him Ramsey, GIbbs, Theo, Chambo, Seza, even Bac if we sign him up for another year or two and we win stuff then he could and I defo think TR07 simply because of that proformance against Spuds in our 1st 5-2 will never forget that game and his part in it.

  16. Adam says:

Potter. I envy you the clarity of the the night sky. If I lived there I would have gone big on a “proper” telescope.

  17. HenryB says:

    Super Post Rico,

That is just the job to warm the cockles of your heart; an interesting insight into how Jack is thinking and some light transfer news before the heavy stuff starts next month.

  18. allezkev says:

Comets, telescopes, Rumbelows, what’s going on???

Ah the Norfolk Broads, clear nights, morning mist, quacking ducks, bunged-up toilets, falling overboard, ‘toads’, Acle, Breydon Water, getting lost in the dark, pump-outs, life on the ocean waves….

  19. BrainwashedKev says:

Cardiff this weekend has all the makings of an upset if we take the 3 points for granted.

I don’t think the club will, but I worry that the fans may take a win in Wales as a foregone conclusion…

Cardiff have already recorded some impressive results this season, so it ain’t gonna be easy…

Walcott has had a couple of substitute appearances to ease him back into the routine.
A couple of near misses against Marseilles and Southampton should act as a sighter for TW. Hitting the net a couple if times in Taffyland would be very welcome…

  20. potter says:

These are the types of games they get up for. They are a very competitive team and with the Chilean Medel they don’t take prisoners. We need to be up for it right from the start. If we go with the laid back tippy tappy game we could well come unstuck.

  21. BrainwashedKev says:

A boring 1-0 to the Arsenal would suit me fine Potter.

Even if it means the reappearance of Mr Angry aka SirStevo…
    Only joking SP… 😉

  22. rico says:

    Thanks Hb,

    Afternoon all..

1-0 with an own goal would do for me, I seriously don’t care how we win 3 points as long as we get them 😛

  23. BrainwashedKev says:

Can’t see the Chavs or Northern Oilers dropping any points, so our lads have gotta keep the pressure on Rico…

  24. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all,
(and thank you AK 🙂 ) Bit suprised Nobody has spoken about the match fixing that has hit the news. could it happen in this day and age with all the eyes of the world watching and if it could how would you spot it. Just a couple of examples to wet your appetite. Arsenals penalty the other day inside or outside, Swansea last night onside or offside. remembering of course that the pass through was ok with the linesmen until the rebound that was put past the keeper and then the flag went up. Simplest the easiest thing in the world. United have been given 12 points a year for years and and this useless FA have never questioned it , i wager they are in on it,

  25. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Steve, i only caught a little of the match fixing story, and so can not comment yet.
Suffice to say it is no surprise.

  26. stevepalmer1 says:

Hiya Scott, the story is just building over here, but there must be some big names about to be exposed cause no one wants to talk about it, as usual the FA have noticed nothing unusual.

  27. potter says:

There are many examples of potential match fixing rumours ,most of which make up conspiricy theories. Certainly the 4 -4 at Newcastle would make you look at Dowd , if any of our games were involved that’s where i would start looking. Untold of course have made a whole career out of highlighting the possibilities, although I don’t subscribe to their points on everything, it would be niaive to believe that it hasn’t or couldn’t happen.

  28. Scott from Oz says:

Potter, Untold have their opinions, but the data they put out shows that there is a lot more than mere coincidence going on in the world of football, that is for certain.
Anyway, off to work, so catch you all later guys.
Steve, keep the faith bud 🙂

  29. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening Potter, you know your football mate, and you have to agree with more decisions going with the bigger clubs. I watch any game thats showed on tv and i have to admit i have watched daylight robbery over the years and all i hear is that it all levels out through the season, If that was the case United wouldn’t have won the league as many times that they have. .

  30. potter says:

As I said I have to believe that bias takes place in refereeing and obviously some clubs seem to be favoured more than others. Whether this is just for the purposes of league or cup winning is one thing or whether it is done for monetary gain is another. I suppose it’s one of the spin offs of Murdoch’s internationalisation that gambling on our matches takes place all over the world . That’s where the danger is , as we have seen with the influx of money disrupting our traditional football calender a gambling scandal could have a detrimental effect on the game as a whole . When i was a kid greyhound racing was a twice a week pastime for a number of Londoners then the scandal of fixed races , dogs being given a gallon of water before the race and later on drugs to slow them up was revealed . Where is a night at the dogs now ?

  31. potter says:

Definitely Dowd , had he done the right thing with Barton in the first [place , Diaby would not have had to go.
