Auba talks, rows and accusations but Arsenal are together.

Morning all.

‘I can’t wait anymore’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang told Arsenal Media. “I think this is the game that we have to understand is going to be the turning point for us for this season. What’s better than the derby?

I think if we win this game, everyone is going to maybe change their mindset and yes, as I said it’s going to be the turning point of the season, and there’s no better game than a derby to do it. It’s going to lift everyone if we win this game. We know it’s going to be a tough game, they are playing well at the moment to tell the truth, but we have to care about our game, how we want to play the game, so it’s all about us if we want it or not.

So we are just waiting for this game and we are going to try to give everything to win this game and change the situation.

What is it about underperforming footballers who think the best thing they can do is talk the talk? Aubameyang has quite frankly been appalling. His body language has been all wrong and as captain I think he’s let his manager, the fans and the club down for the last couple of months. If a team captain can’t be bothered to work hard, what kind of a message does that give out to his teammates and the opposition? If he regrets signing his new contract that’s fine, just don’t play and bugger off next month.

This match against our neighbours won’t define our season. It shouldn’t take a NLD to ‘turn our season around’ in any case. We’re three months in and far too many points have already been dropped. We need our captain to wake up, start playing and start leading by example. The right example as Lacazette did on Thursday.

Eric Dier has been bigging up Mikel Arteta by saying he’s ‘the most exciting young coach in Europe’ according to the Express, Mikel Arteta has been full of praise for Mourinho ahead of Sunday too by saying, ‘I admire him, I think what he’s done in the game is incredible, it’s remarkable.’

Love or loathe the guy, he’s been successful and he’s got Toots playing well. Although not in Europa.

Mikel Arteta and Jose Mourinho have encountered just one north London Derby so far which was back in July. Toots won 2-1 but it’s fair to say that Arsenal really didn’t do themselves any favours that day. Missed goal scoring opportunities and a muddle at the back certainly helped Toots. Kolasinac, Luiz, Xhaka, Pepe and Mustafi all started that game.

Our squad has changed a bit since then with Leno back between the sticks and Willian, Gabriel and Partey joined in the summer. Even so, this season has its struggles. So much so, according to ESPN, ’Mikel Arteta assembled his squad on Tuesday to address his team’s poor start as well as other issues, such as a further investigation as to how news of David Luiz and Dani Ceballos’ training ground bust-up was leaked. Arteta and his staff left says the report and the players thrashed out a few issues. ‘Stormy, intense, finger pointing and a lot of anger’ a ‘source claimed although Arsenal declined to respond when approached by ESPN.’

I hope it’s true. I hope the air has been cleared and this squad are ready to fight. Not literally of course but start showing a bit of passion for the game. Play for each other and work harder. Play for the guy who is selecting them too. The ‘second’ team can. The first team need to as well.

See you in the comments guys.

It’s interesting that I’ve not heard any Tottenham players talking about the NLD, maybe they have but I’m not aware of it.

This is what used to irritate me when Wenger was in charge before an important game the players would talk and talk and talk and then on the day play like dorks.

I just wish that they’d all shut the feck up and do their talking on the pitch on Sunday!

I guess this is the toughest aspect in football lots of talent great management and yet a poor run of results, a captain not firing and a team at odds with one another asking those questions, what the hell has happened. Sport and football are physical games but more importantly they are also mental games and if you lose the mental side there’s little you can do to stop the slide until you reach a point where your exasperated and fed up and you thrash it all out and decide enough is enough. And then go and slide 6 past your greatest rivals. Well that’s not going to happen (I think). But as a fan, you know yes the result matters, of course it does, but as a fan whose been watching these surreal games on TV it’s the manner in which we’ve been losing. The loss to Liverpool wasn’t that bad, Man City a little worse, even the West Ham win was fingernail stuff. All I want to see on Sunday is the team to ebb and flow and play creative football for which we are famous.

The form books and pundits will all have us to lose by three or four but if we end the game as a 3-2 defeat as long as I can see, as a fan, that the team tried the team played for one another and their amazing manager. And that Auba led by example and the true captain and wannabe legend he will become. Time to stand up and be counted follow Gabriel, Saka, Bellerin, and Leno’s examples and Lacazette’s on Thursday. We know you guys have the talent let’s show the world what you can achieve.

    Nice one Mig.

If these clear the air talks have done any good, at least we should see some kind of response tomorrow. We’ll see soon enough.

    G’day all.

Mourinho’s at the mind games, a headline in the Telegraph Sport “We are now chasing bigger targets than beating Arsenal”. I’m willing to bet those are not the words he is saying to Kane and Co ahead of tomorrow’s NLD. Trying to wind up the Arsenal players? Or lulling them into a false sense of security?

  5. Joaquim Moreira says:

I, like all of you, regardless of the line up for tomorrow, wanted to win tomorrow. Maybe it’s the missing click in every way. Losing, puts us in a very difficult situation.
Sarri, for me it is a bad hypothesis.
Burnley “caught” the ball and shot. Are winning 1-0. In our case, the ball had been kept.

  6. Joaquim Moreira says:

One of the sports channels did not broadcast Reading today. 2-0 up.
He is a midfield player from Reading.

  7. allezkev says:

Mourinho saying what he said about Arsenal tells me Rico that he is ultra motivated about the NLD and desperate to win, he’s always desperate to beat Arsenal, we all know that…

It’s reverse psychology and it won’t fool anyone in the Arsenal camp not least Arteta. Arteta needs a result for many other reasons other than it being a NLD.

  8. rico says:

Yes Jm, young French guy with a lot of talent.

Agree Kev, Mourinho has never lost a league match against Arsenal I believe. He won’t want a derby to be his first. Horrid man will try anything to gain the upper hand. This Kane injury stuff is utter poop imo. Of course he’ll play and I’m sure Arteta knows that too.

  9. Limey says:

Totally agree,it’s so pathetic – do your talking on the pitch for god’s sake.Back in the day Djourou or Theo Walcott were the spokesmen.I did get the impression this stopped under Emery,at first anyway. I’m surprised Arteta doesn’t stop it.
My local team are just as bad,Southend United, form is atrocious, heading for the National League,6pts/15 games,-23 goal difference, and almost everyday you get meaningless platitudes like stay positive, keep working hard.
    A little more action please..

  10. Limey says:

Mourinho has definitely lost to Arsenal in the League, when he was Man Utd manager,2-0 at the Emirates.I can’t remember the date but Wenger was the manager,I remember the media making a big thing of it.
