As transfer windows close today, will Arsene sign anyone?

Morning all.

It’s a Bank Holiday here in England and in typical fashion, it’s raining! Dark too, in fact it’s like August has turned into October over the last few days…

I think it’s fair to say that the only thing on Arsenal fans mind now is will Arsene Wenger get us a couple of players before tomorrow’s deadline. This summer window for us has been dire, three months to sign 2/3 outfield players has passed us by, signings which could have turned us into league champions. Yes there’s still time I know but the way our club seems to haggle over fees it’ll take longer than the 3o odd hours that are left. Unless of course by some miracle and despite the managers words about not being close to signing anyone, the club are close and just the i’s need dotting and the t’s crossing.

Not all transfer windows across Europe close tomorrow at 6pm. First to close is Germany today at 6pm. Italy follows at 11 o’clock and it’s midnight for France, the Netherlands, Russia and Spain. That could have a massive impact on Arsene Wenger’s late plans because if by chance he wants players from leagues in the above countries, they have little to no time to find a replacement.

Unless of course it’s a fringe player who is deemed to be no longer required….

There’s talk of the Benzema deal still being possible, Julian Draxler is yet to move despite rumours suggesting he already has, Reus has been mentioned too but nothing much about a defensive midfielder, although that means little.

Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, reckons we’ve tried for Mauro Icardi:

He twitted:

‘What has gone on behind the scenes after Benzema deal went off: Arsenal showed interest in Mauro Icardi but Inter refused to sell him’.

Who knows, I doubt he does that’s for sure…..

What I know though, as do so many Arsenal fans is that leaving transfers to the last minute is not only risky, but embarrassing. How can a club like ours, with so much money stashed away, not behave in an proactive and more ambitious manner? Why couldn’t players be signed before the season kicked off?

There’s no ‘exceptional quality available’ we hear well that’s poppycock as other clubs have snapped up players who would have made our squad deeper and stronger so why/how did they slip through our net?

Too many whys, yet no-one has the answers….

Whatever happened to the man who signed great players during a transfer window and not at the end, the likes of Henry, Petit, Vieira, Freddie, Bobby, Campbell etc etc

Why, when he has access to more money than possibly ever before does he choose to neglect our needs? Perhaps he really does believe in the squad he has and that even without a clinical goal scorer or a back-up for Coquelin, he can win the league again. I fear time will prove him wrong if he does…..

Maybe Arsene Wenger has simply morphed into Arry Redknapp, he was always good for a last minute deal or two wasn’t he…..

Happy Monday all….

Wenger & Arsenal are a joke…. everyone knew what we needed and they have let every good player slip through the net to strengthen our rivals…£200M sat in the bank and we are down to the last few bloody hours… I hope we have a disaster of a season and we get rid of Wenger, he is past it….if he cannot see what everyone else can he must go…….
He said if exceptional talent was out there he would be in for them….there has been and he has not bothered. I hope we have a crap next game… then bring on the fans rightly deserved abuse…. Well done Arsenal…you knew what we had to do and yet again you have failed!!!

  2. Mark Tuite says:

Shut up u muppet hoping we have a crap season? Some supporter you are go away and support Chelsea is some other plastic club we don’t need your kind supporting our club!

  3. scottfromoz says:

This is where things get silly.
Why can’t people say their piece without ridiculous insults of the man?
Ed, fancy hoping we play crap.
    Says it all lol.
    Hiya Rico.

  4. allezkev says:

Ed, I wouldn’t say winning successive FACups is failure….

If that’s your view then fair enough…
But it seems a bit extreme to me…

  5. bondex says:

Morning all, we are here again where we always find our selves at the end of every TW wondering what will happen…I’ve prepared my mind for 0 players signing for us this summer (well of course Cech is here already) .

  6. allezkev says:

Drake, not seeing us linked has got to be a relief after the succession of lies that have been peddled on the Web this summer.

Summer he says, as its pissing down outside…

  7. rico says:

Rather you than me Kev… 😉

Yes Scott, couldn’t agree more re insults or hoping we have a bad season. What I’d love is for us to win the PL and then AW walks away with his head held high..

Even though he’s a stubborn and tight old git… 😉

  8. rico says:

I’m with Kev Drake, the less we hear about a DM being linked, the more chance there is we could get one. AW doesn’t do things publicly..

  9. Drake says:

If arsenal fans dont attend/boycots games at the emirate,i believe the club will start respecting fans and look for change and that change is taking wenger down.

  10. Gdna says:

I hope AW don’t wait this long to buy Austin and Wanyama, two more average player on what we already have. The best deal this late in the window might be Gotze, although he is not what we want at the moment.

  11. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

have a bad game or bad season mate????

Good post Rico. it will be a great one if we sign one. it will be stupendous if we sign two. it would be heavenly if we signed three.

if we signed none??? it would still be a good one. 😉

Kev……you at Heathrow atm??? which plane is going to land with a superstar or two in it???

  12. rico says:

All a matter of opinion there Gdna, Wanyama had a great season for Southampton, I think he’d fit right in with us…

As for Austin, imo whoever gets him will add 15/20 goals to their tally…

  13. frednerk says:

Everyone wants to talk transfers to-day
    lastminute.com
    We have a strong squad,,wenger know’s that.
But the players and the fans want a lift.
Cech..is not enough for us..is he.
I played in some crap teams, and
when the season ended,I’d say to myself
    that’s it..But I always remember one thing.
As soon as the season was over the rumours
of who we were signing flew around the club,
    so I stayed around hoping.
In them day’s the word Spin
    was something that spun around.
But I suppose it get’s the money upfront,
from the loyal season ticket holder’s.
    Done..it

  14. allezkev says:

As an Arsenal fan, I’ve been very fortunate in supporting a club that sticks by its managers and does things in a calm manner. Well, most of the time….

It’s a strange feeling when a manager leaves Arsenal, it’s not a situation, fortunately, that we experience very often.

I’ve seen Bertie Mee retire, Terry Neill get the sack, Don Howe resign, then the George Graham situation, Stewart Houston temporary, Bruce Rioch, probably a couple of other temporary managers, Steve Burtenshaw I think, Pat Rice.

When a manager goes there is an empty feeling, an uncertainty. Even when the new man comes in that uncertainty remains until we see if he is the real deal…

We haven’t had that uncertainty for almost 19 years, so it’s gonna be a shock to the system when Wenger decides he’s had enough…

In a way, I hope he decides to go at the end of this season…

Of course there’s other managers out there who can, I’m sure, do a good job…
We can then join the rest of football in having a different manager every two or three years…

  15. allezkev says:

Coach I am in my armchair in South London, putting off the inevitable…

But yes mate, I’ve gotta go to work.

    Lata 🙂

  16. rico says:

Like I said Gdna, in your opinion, not mine…

I don’t buy into AW’s ‘I only want exceptional players’ – it’s poppycock imo. It’s about having a good and strong squad and those two would certainly add something to ours…

  17. Adam says:

Wenger has had plenty of opportunities to sign Wanyama, Austin, Sissoko and just about every other UK based player. He hasn’t. If he does now it will be the same old panic buys. We go from Benzema and Vidal to desperation. Where is the planning? Everyone knew what we needed during this window several weeks before the season ended. Where is the strategy and the business strength to make these deals happen? What are the team, working 24 hours a day actually producing in terms of solid results? Gazidis knows what we need but cannot overrule Wenger. Lord Harris coming out with that £200 million stuff was a PR disaster for the club under Wenger as Wenger is Arsenal.
There are some real, serious questions to be answered if we don’t succeed this year but they will be obscured and sidetracked by those who really refuse to see what is happening at Arsenal now and has been happening for quite a few years now.

  18. Hell Raising Devil says:

Blimey Kev. are you that old??

    seen Bertie Mee retire???

I though you were 30ish or something like that 😉

yes mate there are good managers who can do a good job and maybe even better take us to a next level. but would the board choose the right man??? that is the million dollar question. would they choose someone who takes us to the next level, or bring in someone who will take care of their money first? Or sign a crackpot like LVG???

I would love Ancellotti. but then again……someone like Monk (swans) Koeman might be a great manager as well with us

  19. Drake says:

Rico i believe that they will be hurting arsenal when it comes to income and not every fans who go to the em is a season ticket holder

  20. Wavy says:

Morning all. Wet and windy here, a bit like my…….?

TW? What grieves me is the fact that so many of our young hopefuls have been sent out on loan. Afobe in particular, a striker, a striker of some quality, a striker who may well be needed if GIROUD and or Walcott are injured. What happens then? Well, Bellerin is the rising star perhaps old tight wad will play him up front, perhaps he’ll morph into the next Terry Henry! Then again, perhaps he won’t.
What will happen when Le Coq gets crocked? Flaming for one half and Arteta for the second, neither of them has a whole game in them anymore!

Oh sod this for a game of soldiers! I’m really cheesed off with the way things have gone. Yes, the first team are pretty special but their replacements are largely journeymen and not really fit for purpose!

I still have hope for this season but sadly, not much!

Roll on 18.00 hours on the 1st of September. All will be revealed! Or not!!

  21. scottfromoz says:

    Kev, well said.
I know plenty believe things will improve when Wenger leaves, and we will find out at some point, but yes, there is that real risk a new manager will see us deteriorate.
There’s no easy answer to it…..the new guy will be on a hiding to nothing though.
If Arsene doesn’t sign anyone, it seems he has failed to change with the times, so if that’s the case, he can’t stick around.
30 odd hours to shut his detractors up, or see them in full voice.
    Same applies to his defenders.

  22. Adam says:

Gary Monk is a shoe-in for the next Arsenal manager if he has a great season. He doesn’t spend a lot of money, is unlikely to get caught up in a scandal and will be cheap. He will also accept limitations that Pep, Klopp, Ancelotti etc wouldn’t.

  23. rico says:

Kev, I have a feeling fans will be excited when AW retires… 😉

Adam, back to the owner and board it goes imo. They are the ones allowing AW so much freedom to do so little… As you say, things have been wrong for a while, so why on earth did they offer him a new contract.

Frightened to enter into another era imo… Better the devil you know and all that…

  24. scottfromoz says:

Rico, that’s what I’ve always said…….don’t blame Wenger when the board allows him to do as he pleases.
Yes, he may be guilty, but they’re in charge and if they’re not, they bloody well should be.
    Soft bastards.

  25. scottfromoz says:

    Drake, I’m with you there.
Directors have made similar calls for years about how much cash there is, but two years ago, Gazidis himself came out and said we finally have the money to compete with the other top clubs.
Arsene isn’t the only one that tells us fibs.

  26. Wavy says:

Sorry, should have checked, iPad default error again, should have read “Flamini for one half” Not ‘flaming’.
    Ho hum!

  27. Adam says:

Rico. You were calling for Usmanov to take over. What did you believe he would have bought to the club? Accountability from Wenger? Financial clout? He has the best of both worlds at the moment. Plenty of money, zero accountability etc and yet..
FFP being suspended is bad news for Arsene. I believe his strategic planning has been based around that for years now. But, he knows Platini and was incredibly naive to believe that it would remain in place.

  28. rico says:

Ha ha Scott, a cunning plan re AW…

Always said the same too, I know AW gets a lot wrong, well, imo but off the pitch, until he’s held accountable, nothing will change but the old Yank is happy for his club to drift along as it is so nothing will change…

IG and the board can talk the talk all they like, but there’s no-one to take Wenger to task.

And it’s us and the players who suffer… Still, at least the latter get paid handsomely…

  29. scottfromoz says:

    Adam, I disagree.
I believe Wenger is very accountable.
The problem is, what the board ask of him and what we want from him are two very different things.
That’s exactly the reason he is untouchable, IMO.

  30. rico says:

Adam, yes I did and I would have expected exactly what you suggest. Accountability and more finances. No-one though will ever know what Usmanov would have brought to the club but I’m pretty sure it would have been something much better than Kroenke and his toothless board…

  31. Adam says:

Scott. The fans who attend the games made up their minds ages ago. The board are too scared to demand anything and are symbolic rather than active. Who at the club, who wants to remain on the gravy train, is going to question Arsene Wenger?
Everyone wants to believe but all those big bad multi billionaires are ruining for us by buying all the best players. Its not bloody fair and we never envisaged this when we landed the move to the Emirates.
Yes Rico. I agree but if he had managed to buy out The Syrup would Arsene be at PSG now?

  32. Drake says:

Scott before wenger there was someone else.the club at some point will need change and during the process will heat lows before highs.so we should aceept who ever is coming like did with wenger,we did not trust him when he came in but he won our trust during that time

  33. scottfromoz says:

Adam, you know what i think of LG, but I read it.
He makes some very fair points, but splattered with plenty of assumptions.
At the end of the day, none of us really know why it is Wenger messes around so much each TW.
    Maybe he doesn’t know, himself.
The board should take it off his plate.

  34. Tai says:

    Morning All…

    Great post, Rico…

I’ve come to accept Wenger as one person I have no powers whatsoever to influence. Most times I struggle to see things his way just to make my life supporting Arsenal easy…some of those times I’m misunderstood here in HH as trying to boast I know everything about Wenger.

Truth is – if you love a woman/man so much that you can’t do without her/him, then try to learn a way of accepting the things she/he does that ordinarily pisses you off.

The way Wenger thinks is always 1. Do things the right way 2. Save money when you can 3. Don’t buy a player more than he’s worth however desperately you need him 4. Don’t buy just because others are buying 5. Don’t listen to the fans, pundits or press – strengthen only when you’re convinced beyond all doubts that you need to 6. Don’t always look towards the market for solutions…look inwards first and make certain you don’t already have what you’re looking for, even if it takes two years for the player to come to that level. 7. Don’t always go for ready-made players…go for one that appears average and make him a world class – that way you’re respected 8. Look the other way when people point to you a certain player even if you were genuinely interested before they did…and so on.

Right now, truth must be told Wenger has a strong 11. The only position a man like Le Prof would easily have strengthened is already done by signing Cech. He doesn’t need to get Coquelin back to the bench because he trusts Coq…besides the 24-year old fits Wenger perfectly as one he discovered. So, Arteta and Flamini will do for Wenger as cover.

Perhaps his only dilemma is in attack…deep down he trusts Giroud…would he buy a striker to keep Giroud on the bench? Not likely…instead, he wants to vary Giroud with Walcott…play Walcott when the opposition presents space for pacy counters…and play Giroud when it’s tight parking-the-bus opponents. Meaning OG starts home games while Walcott does aways. And of course, there’s Welbeck, who has his positive attributes. The only hope is…if Wenger has made up his mind Walcott will play this season through the middle of attack, then we’re likely going to see a top top winger signed tonight, otherwise…Wenger returns Walcott to the wings, signs an unknown striker to understudy Giroud or just retains Joel Campbell.

In defence, he’s comfortable with Chambers as cover…and of course, Gabriel is quality.

So, don’t hope for too much…Wenger may just sign one player or even none at all. Whichever way, let’s prepare ourselves to live with it.

  35. retsub1 says:

I am a big fan of Wenger, he’s been great for Arsenal football club. Sure he has made mistakes, sticking with Almunia when he should have got a top quality keeper was a good example. But then again we are all human.

I think you have to ask the question, where would Arsenal be today if we hadn’t had Wenger at the helm? Would we be an established top four club? Would we have gone through about 12 managers like Spurs? Many teams have spent fortunes and gone nowhere. Look at Newcastle 50 million spent and they couldn’t manage a shot at goal. Look how Spurs squandered the Bale Money and Liverpool the Torres money. Without Wenger we might not have £200 million to spend (if it’s true) so be careful what you wish for.

For the record I am not so concerned about the need for a striker, I believe the goals will come. I do however believe if we don’t sign a defensive midfielder we can kiss any hopes of the title goodbye. Coquelin can only take do many lumps being kicked out of him

  36. scottfromoz says:

Drake, I will support any man at the helm, have no fear.
I’m not scared of life after Wenger.
I do, however, believe that the massive majority of replacements named by Gooners are ridiculous.
Rightly or wrongly, Arswnal is now a club that requires a manager who has one eye on performance, and one on the finances.
Adam, whatever the reason the directors do nothing, it’s unacceptable.
It seems they’re like politicians……too busy protecting their lot to actually do what their position required, and in fact, demands.
I can’t see much changing when Wenger leaves, unless the board goes at the same time.

  37. Drake says:

Ffp is gone and now is the time usmanov takes over.looking at the prises players are sold at i dont see us competing with kroenke.the qatar boy have destroyed football and manu have the best deal with adidas,we have no choice but to join in.only usmanov would bail us on this one

  38. Steve says:

    Nothing has changed.

4th is our home, our comfort zone, our cozy blanket and the limit of our ambition.

Wenger brings us 4th every year. Why would the owner and the board wan’t to put that at risk ?

  39. Adam says:

Scott. If you lived here I reckon you and I would go to most of the home games together and probably have dinner and argue about what we had just seen. Those who make the effort will always have my time and respect because I know what a commitment it is both in time and financially. The bloke at LG speaks sense to me.

  40. scottfromoz says:

Adam, the assumptions mentioned are the reasons he offers why we didn’t get certain players, and in fact the players themselves.
As I said though, he makes plenty of good and valid points.
We’d have a beer as well though 🙂

  41. Adam says:

Rico. Unfair. But indicative of the way that supporters are pigeonholed as if they can’t criticise and and still hold admiration at the same time.
I’d still be going to watch the team though. 🙂

  42. Adam says:

Scott. If you remember, I only drink very occasionally but I could watch you and Brudder Lee and probably give you a lift home. 🙂

  43. rico says:

Retsub, I think most ‘sensible’ fans see and appreciate all what AW has done for Arsenal and he did well to keep us in the top four whilst we moved to the Emirates and the years that followed with little money..

But do we live on the past?

I’ve loved us getting the two FA Cups and last season pushing up the table a bit but, there’s money now. Now is time to spend again and make us stronger, makes us champions again and right now that’s unlikely…

And I’m not one who believes he should have gone and blown big money on big big players, just the right ones for whatever they cost…

  44. scottfromoz says:

    That sounds a plan, Adam 🙂 🙂
30 million would easily have bought Lacazette, and 15 million would get a very decent DM.
We’d be better, and for not a ridiculous sum.

  45. retsub1 says:

Fair point Rico, I don’t disagree. No doubt the Wenger years will end soon and rightly so. I just don’t want to see some gunslinger coming in and squandering all the good work that’s been done. Look at the money United have spent recently. None of the players they have got look top quality for me and I would go as far to say is they lose their keeper they will have taken a big step backwards.

I get as frustrated as anyone, by the lack of transfer activity me but it’s important that if we do buy we get one or two quality signings. Not the Spurs ethics of buy 6 or 7 and hope one or two come good.

  46. rico says:

Retsub, I doubt Kroenke would allow a gunslinger to undo all the hard work done financially… In fact that would probably get him more interested in the goings on at the club…

No chance of 6/7, AW doesn’t like more than 3/4 at any one time…

  47. andrewh1313 says:

Come on rico, tomorrow’s or Wednesdays post headline must be about two or three outfield signings, get your finger out 😉 Good post, its what 90% of us think.

Scott, quote of the month there!! Sack Wenger, buy players, re-hire. More I read it the better it is.

Heard the other day, after us, least outfield players bought by a Premier club is four. mmmmm
I lIke what Man City have done, win four games then add another top player. We all thought, win FA Cup then buy while we on top. Still waiting.

  48. Peter Mapp says:

I believe AW has the right to decide who he needs. I do not believe he has a right to screw with fans. He accidentally found a DM maybe this time he will accidentally find a striker. I also believe that if AW is proved to be negligent and wrong in his thinking he should resign or be Fired.

  49. Tai says:

    Restub…

Don’t worry…Wenger won’t go in a hurry…not any time before five years from now. He’ll extend his contract and he’ll certainly quit on a big stage…he’s put in more than required to win big things again.

The law of nature rewards honesty and hard work. The scrupulous and dubious get off the blocks quicker…but the tenacious and patient eventually catches up and overtakes…the two worlds of football has Wenger and Mourinho at both extremes…as a writer, I’m waiting for the climax of an A movie, and of course the happy ending – with Wenger’s triumph.

  50. andrewh1313 says:

I can understand the comments by those on here so angry. I’ve wished a bad game myself on Wenger, but then at one minute past three, I’ve been swearing at the ref after we haven’t got a penalty ;-). Genuine Arsenal fans don’t really mean it deep down when they say they want a bad season, it is just the frustration, and also that they care, like the rest of us.

  51. rico says:

Welcome Peter. For sure all managers should choose their own players, just wish AW had chosen a few more than Petr Cech all summer…

  52. andrewh1313 says:

Saw you got a bit hot under the collar the other evening Scott ;-). Its easy to get pretty frustrated at times with Arsenal. But hey, however bad we’ve played since Comm Shield, only one other ‘supposed top 5’ team has more points than us.

  53. Gdna says:

AW has done a good job which he is paid handsomely to do, lets not forget that. I honestly think he should have been relieved of his duties from 2006, it obvious that things are stale at the club and needs refreshing. Changes bring growth. I can’t wait to see the club moves forward with a new ambitious manager who is willing to improve the playing staff with the club resources and get rid of the players who aren’t good enough. No matter how fans want to look at it, AW has overstay his welcome. What is happening now is a not new, it obvious that he lacks ideas to move the club to another level. imo

  54. scottfromoz says:

Mate, I just get very, very frustrated when people criticise for the sake of it.
For some, no player at Arsenal will be good enough.
Those same critics said we’d never win a trophy under Wenger, yet suddenly the FA cup wasn’t worth winning??
As for the TW, I can’t see the point of getting stressed over it…….Wenger will do things his way, so no point us worrying about it.
Afterwards, if he doesn’t strengthen, then everyone can unleash and I certainly won’t attempt to defend him.
Better late than never………….I hope lol.

  55. potter says:

Perhaps the best scenario is for Wenger to do the business side and a coach to take the tactics and adapt for different teams.

  56. scottfromoz says:

Kev, Di Maria proves spending guarantees nothing, contrary to plenty of experts.
The right player is what counts.
Trouble is, we have no sign of either scenario happening lol.

  57. allezkev says:

Interesting to see, that only the mighty Sunderland (10 goals) have conceded more goals that the current EPL Champions Chelsea (9 goals)….

  58. allezkev says:

Scott, ManUre are about to top £100m spent on new players.
Add that to what they spent a year ago, and that’s some serious investment from a club that is currently on the same points as Arsenal…

  59. potter says:

My point is that if you don’t or won’t buy you have to coach the ones you have better. In my mind tactics have always been his downfall.

  60. Joe says:

Le grove the home of the ed’s of the world everyone knows what I think of the Arsenal fans who want us to lose on the off chance that the club will sack Wenger.
So that will be my last comment on that issue in case I get in to trouble again ? because we all know everyone has a right to an opinion on hh.
    Even deluded Newcastle fans ☺

  61. Joe says:

The media has a north west bais in England and most journalists still hate him for showing them up. Forr standing up to them over those allegations in he’s first press conference.

  62. arsenal11730 says:

How about a punt on Chicharito. He did not set RM alight but he certainly knows where the goal is. 9mill will get him as Bayer Leverkusen are trying. He could be our Fox in The Box.

    Good Afternoon Rico and All.

Rico. Good read and like many others through their comments I can sense the frustrations. No matter how much you love AW and defended him time and time again, you get frustrated come the T/W. Striker, we been saying it ever since he bought Ozil. Why he hasn’t, he only knows the answer.

I’d say this though, you in your house searching for something that you misplaced but can’t find it and you desperately needed it and, the power (electricity) went out and you’re in the darkness. But you’ve candles and lighter in your hands. But you prefer to wait for the power to come back before you continue you search just because everyone is asking or telling you to use the candles and light and you don’t want to be told what to do. Naive or Arrogant?

I love AW but he is too complicated to understand…

  67. Hell Raising Devil says:

Spanish transfer deadline is 11pm tonight, UK time.

So if Bilbao want Nacho they have to move fast.

And if Barca want Flamini we have to move faster.

And if RM want Campbell we have to move at the speed of sound.

Can we tell them buy Campbell and get one (Flamini) Free??????

  68. Joaquim Moreira says:

Raul Garcia (ex A.Madrid) is a Athletic Bilbau player.
    no additional informations about Monreal

  69. Micko says:

    He dillied and dallied
    Dallied and dillied
Lost his way and don’t know where to roam.

Looks like another transfer window about to down the shitter !

    Afternoon all.

  70. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Djloboodji (ex-Nantes) – Chelsea – 3 millions (is a central defender)
Marcial (ex-monaco) – 19 years old – M. united – 50 millions (!!!!) (was the player who destroyed us last year) (was my target…)

  71. Joe says:

She’ll find some reason to prove it hasn’t ? but they have still spent a!most £250m on 12 players in 18 months

  72. Malaga gooner says:

I cant wait for wengers excuses over lack of transfers
I can smell the shit even before he starts yapping
Don’t know why i get so pissed off, it’s the bollox every year

  73. Malaga gooner says:

I want to know who was working 24 hours a day for the last 2 months

I didn’t know there was a jobs at the club where you can sit aroun playing with your self and get paid

  74. Dublingunner says:

Evening Rico, not a dickie bird, so much for all the ITK, their as clueless as us. According to geoff@Arsenal, Monreal will not be leaving, this T.W.
be suicide to leave it this late to let him go.

  75. Hell Raising Devil says:

Little boy…..Mum why is my cousin named Jasmine?
Mum………..Because your aunt like flowers very much. She dreams of flowers day and night??
Little boy….And what do you like mum?? What do you dream of day and night???
Mum……….Please stop asking silly questions Dickie.

  76. Malaga gooner says:

    Joe im not happy
We never go that extra inch
If we paid the market value, i wouldn’t be moaning
Yes we bought 6 players but i would rather we buy 3 world class players than 6 squad players, we have enough squad players.
    Excluding sanches

  77. rico says:

Evening Dublin, few headlines on nn suggest Monreal is getting a new deal. Who to believe eh…

Just can’t believe we are into the last 24 hours and just Cech had been signed….

  78. Dublingunner says:

obviously Monreal,s agent pushing for new deal, It seems to have worked.
Desperately frustrating, Rico,Thank god its nearly over.

  79. Dublingunner says:

Joel Campbell said to have posted pic on instagram of himself with Passport a few minutes ago. could just be international duty, “most probably”.

  80. Gdna says:

MG, I’m afraid at this late in the TW Arsenal have no choice. He might not be what we need but would improve the playing staff immediately. The manager religiously believe he has the best squad in Europe so we might not even need any signings. lol

  81. rico says:

Certainly can’t afford to let Campbell go now imo. If Walcott gets injured, he’ll get playing time. Well, he should do….

Why the heck so many players have gone on loan I don’t know. Hope they have a recall included in the deals….

  82. Lee says:

Dale Wenger is currently oiling the trolley wheels!

Seriously though though if Dale and his team have been working 24/7 on signing new players for 3 months they can’t be very good can they? In fact they are fucking appalling!

I seriously thought we’d strengthen the squad this window, what a fool!

Probably got enough of a squad to secure the coveted fourth spot, maybe a good cup run?!?!

As I said earlier no WC, no European Championshis and no CL qualifiers……NO FUCKING EXCUSE NOT TO BUY!!!’

  83. Joe says:

Remember the top four trophy is the reason we have £200m in the bank ? and Özil ,Sanchez and Cech in the first team.

  84. rico says:

You weren’t the only fool Lee. I really thought this was going to be a great summer too. What a couple of buffoons we are eh….

  85. Dublingunner says:

Apparently Wenger with pics to prove he has landed in Paris, a couple of hours ago.the pics were said to taken by a chinese student. genuine pics are available on twitter.

  86. Dublingunner says:

again people giving explanations, that it could just be his tv work for the French football media,
    but on a monday?

  87. Joe says:

I thought that it doesn’t matter where Wenger is its more important that some players bloody turn up at the Emirates before 6pm tomorrow.

  88. Malaga gooner says:

Joe the window ends for us tonight
There is no one in England that is exceptional quality
    Thats it for this year

  89. Bradster says:

How does a staggered window closing work? Surely if say France close at midnight tonight, you can’t buy a french based player tomorrow even though the English windows is still open.

  90. Joe says:

I want players as well as everyone else because the right ones will improve the team.
Thank God I will miss most of this madness tomorrow heading on my summer holidays and by the time the plane lands it will all be over.

  91. frednerk says:

After an unsuccessful late effort to sign
    the irish internationl…Rick’O’Shay
Wenger will now turn his attention to
    the turkish internation..As If.

  92. Dublingunner says:

just of the phone to my sources at Arsenal, this is what they said,
Go away, We don,t know you
If ye ring hear again, we,ll call the police.

  93. andrewh1313 says:

Yep Joe, Man U sell Fernandez as well for peanuts, this could really backfire on them if new French kid fails. So glad De Gea going. He saved them 12 points last year!! At least. Enjoy Dubai while we mope about no game for ages and no players in.

  94. Joe says:

Thanks Andrew. I have one depressed manu fan moping around the house right now nice to see them losing players and they are even tinner for strikers than us right now.

  95. scottfromoz says:

    So we lost Nacho?
    Oh, we didn’t?
    Love it lol.
De Gea gone, so Real will want to sell someone, you’d think…or hope 🙂
We will be making at least one signing, and a good one, I reckon.
    Will it be enough…who knows?
Morning all, and bye bye Nacho hahahahaha

  96. tsgh says:

Ljajic to Inter, De Gea to Real Madrid, Hernandez to Leverkusen, Januzaj to Dortmund, Chalabah to Napoli … Busy day…
    none at Colney

  97. Joaquim Moreira says:

no signs. Are we later in the market? Plyers like Pedro or Martial aren’t interesting for us? Today, mostly of the players were overvalued.
Cabaye (was for me the most important player from CP versus Chelsea) wasn’t interesting for us? Sissoko? Random?
    Are they very expensive?

  98. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

D-Day has arrived. Whether its DOOMsday or Dick’s (law) day is anyone’s guess.

AW was spotted in Paris. NN is saying that he has gone to finalise Cavani and Rabiot to AFC.

There can be so many reasons though.

Maybe he went to see his mother in law.
Maybe he went to spring a surprise on his old friend from school.
Maybe he went to a Paris outlet to buy a red boxer shorts with with spots.
Maybe he went to a massage parlour.
Maybe he went to buy a Christmas card for his wife.
    Maybe this or maybe that.

Whatever it is we have around 10hrs of one helluva ride.

And who would want LVG as a manager??? seems that he scuppered DDG’s transfer to Real Madrid as he could not fit the papers in the fax machine due to early onset of transfer tremblitis, which is a disease which can catch you suddenly while you are trying to put the necessary papers in the fax machine and suddenly those papers are flying all over the place.

BDW…..I saw how ADM played in his 30 mins for PSG. Nothing wrong with him. He would have flourished under AW.

tbh…I never liked LVG one bit. and it has never changed at all.

  99. Hell Raising Devil says:

Cavani is valued at around £50mill while Rabiot is £16mill.

I guess we will buy Rabiot outright and we will get Cavani on loan if necessary papers do not get through. Then we will buy him outright in June 2016.

  100. scottfromoz says:

Ya miserable bastards, stay positive 🙂
    Who will we get?
    No idea.
    How many….same.
    Anyone at all…I hope so.
If nobody comes in, Arsene will finally have broken me.
I’m confident he will do some business.
    Very confident.

  101. Lewis says:

Wow Scott, if you break there’s no hope for arsene! 😉

    Morning all.

What will the comedy double act of Wenger and law serve us up today?!
