Arteta Wants Emirates Crowd Onside….

Morning all.

Jeeze this international break is boring…..

Not even the news that Yaya Sanogo scored two goals last night excites me.

Mikel Arteta has begun the ‘let’s turn our season around’ chat. Good, he’s right, something needs to happen, we need to start playing better and we have to start winning football matches again.

When was the last time we beat Manchester Utd? A long time ago is the answer. They are in a similar place to us and in my opinion, both clubs have a similar manager – one who is stuck in his ways and won’t change. The only difference is LvG is prepared to spend big money on big players and why not, it’s not his money..

Ahead of this weekends fixture, our captain says this is our time to change:

We have two games against Manchester United and Dortmund at home and if we get the crowd with us from the start and get the results then it will be a very different story again.

A week ago, after three wins in a row, the place was getting back to normal with everyone looking happy. Then after two disappointing results, [it is down].

It is a roller coaster at the moment but we need to manage the emotion because this is a long-term situation and we need to be where we want to be in April and May, so let’s be patient.

For me, the most important thing is to lead with confidence and remind the players how good they are.

When you see some faces with disappointment and doubts, it is not good. They are players of the top level and after one, two or three performances it is natural – you get doubts, you are not happy with yourself, you get a bit down.

But we cannot allow that to happen here. It is very demanding to play three or four times in 10 days and bad periods are going to affect the team. So you need everyone on their toes and ready to fight.

There you go, get the Emirates rocking for the Utd game and the players will follow….

How about the players step up their game, put in a great shift and give the Emirates something to cheer about.

The team needs the fans, of course they do and there’s nothing like a fixture against Utd to get everyone going but that works both ways doesn’t it…

Carry on as we left off at Swansea and things will only get worse but Mikel Arteta is right and everyone is going to be on their toes and fight hard for the rest of the season, then no doubt the fans will be right behind them..

More internationals tonight, fingers and toes crossed that none of our players on duty get injured….

That’s it for today, have a good one…..

Morning all, Rico your right, it’s certainly boring at the moment, the battle tonight might give us all a bit of excitement..

As for Artita and the rest, turn up for the game from the start, last seasons Utd was supposed to be the worst in years, this year they’re not much better. Surly we’re due a performance and 3 points for a change.

Rico, i’d love to see a professional performance, instead of mistake strewn, lacklustre affairs we have come to expect from this fixture.

Rico, never give up the struggle!!!

It would also be nice for a change for our players to stop talking a good game and actually play one… that also may help get the fans onside and right behind them…!

Afternoon all…. It’s soooooooooooooo boring without the normal footie even when we are so shit…!

    Rosicky:

The coach is trying to find a system that best suits the players, and vice versa.

“I’m not in this alone — there are other players in a similar boat. When we do get a chance, it’s harder for us to get into our rhythm.

“So far, this season has been disappointing for us. We haven’t played well, and when I’ve played I’ve not been at the forefront of things.”

When we do get a chance, it’s harder for us to get into our rhythm.

He added: “I’m not sure what’s going on.

“I understand that I am 34 years old and that it probably plays a role, whether I like it or not. That’s without a doubt.

“However, I’m not in physical decline. When I played for the national team [Czech Republic] against Netherlands, I ran 12 kilometres and according to the tests at Arsenal I’m in the top five in terms of speed.

“We [Wenger and I] are on good terms, so I do not really know what it is. It is purely a coach’s decision. It’s not my decline. My health is fine too. Of course I want to play, but there’s not much I can do about it.”

Funny old day, blue skies and grey, right and dull by turns.
Glass half full………we haven’t lost in 7 days
Glass half empty…..we lost 9 days ago!

    Ho hum.

I’m off to knit a bit more washing up liquid………it passes the time!

    Hi all,

Interesting comments coming from the players not starting or getting little game time.

The 11 on the pitch, bar Sanchez, have alot to say but deliver very little. The ones off it do not deserve to be on the bench.

Rosicky could offer more. He is good enough to play 90 for the National team but only good for 8 minutes every 2 weeks at ours? Says he has no problem with AW-yeah right..

Podolski has got into top shape only to fall asleep in the Wenger overcoat . Why dont we give him more game time? It would be nice to start him alongside Welbeck. In a 4-4-2 he would bag lots of goals. Says he has no prob with AW- bollox

Campbell- This guy is enthusiastic, skilful , and in most top teams in Europe woukd get more time than at ours. Can’t we give this guy 30 minutes and see how he gets on? Says he is training very hard and has no prob with AW. How the F does he feel when Sanogo gets more chances!

Bellerin- must be thinking i have no chance here. When 1st choice RB is out, 2nd choice on loan, 3rd choice having a stinker at Swansea, and he still doesnt get on the pitch.

If they do not deliver, drop them Arsene ffs. God forbid we get injuries to key areas tonight (sanchez,Welbz,Ox) I wonder if any of the above get a call?

On another note, I think Jenks is having a blinding loan and at this rate will be challenging Clyne for RB in the England squad. He has no future with us sadly. Once Debuchy is back, Cahmbers and Kozza will cover.

Yes George I absolutely agree with your assessment of the players and the inertia that doesn’t give them playing time. The whole selection policy is bizarre, but we don’t understand the philosophy of substitutions or starting line ups or tactics or changes in formations because, we have not had 30 years of management experience and neither have the rest of the bloggers all saying the same things here and elsewhere!
An old codger can never squeeze his zits! (It’s because they are blackheads or blockheads, delete as appropriate).

    It’s dead ATM.
Hard to raise the enthusiasm to talk up Arsenal at the best of times, let alone during interlull.

  9. rico says:

I wouldn’t have thought so Bt, not to start anyway, but that wouldn’t stop AW…

🙂 Lee, I’m counting on the players stepping up, not that idiot of a manager…

  10. BT62 Gooner says:

Danny has me concerned, strikers live and die by goals but like yo say “no better time than against that lot”. though sometimes you can try to hard.

  11. BT62 Gooner says:

Rico, he has fluffed a few, more chances are always a bonus but how many is enough to score a goal? I would like to see him create some for himself as well.
