Arsene's replacement. Wanting Bendtner to fail & Arteta returns…..

Morning all.

Got to love this, you couldn’t make it it up could you? Actually, The Daily Star did just that yesterday.

The club hierarchy have reportedly highlighted Juventus legend Antonio Conte as the man who could lead the team into a new ear if Wenger decides to pull the curtain down on his 17-year-tenure as manager.

Yes, they really did print ear instead of era!

Think I’ll leave that right there!

Great news emerged yesterday as our current manager confirmed that Mikel Arteta was fit, healthy and back in training. In fact it’s better than that, he could actually be ready to play some part on Sunday against Stoke FC.

Not sure he needs to be rushed back that soon to be honest, he’d be better off waiting until Wednesday when we play West Bromwich Albion in the Capital One Cup. No doubt Arsene Wenger will rotate a few that night and players like Arteta and Vermaelen will hopefully be included and with it bring some experience to what will no doubt be a younger side.

Thin squad? Surely not with Bendtner in it....
Thin squad? Surely not with Bendtner in it….

Ok, of course you know all the players but doesn’t Bendtner and Park look very different from when they last appeared in a red and white shirt?

In fact when was the last time either of them played. I certainly couldn’t be bothered to check when really but the last time Bendtner was sat in our colours on the subs bench was way back in 2011 when on the 1st of March he was merely a spectator throughout. We won that day, Aaron Ramsey scored the only goal in our victory at home against Manchester United.

Shortly after that match and having secured a loan move to Sunderland, he vowed he would never play for Arsenal again…..

I’d hoped he wouldn’t too but it’s highly likely, if fit, he could feature in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.

As for Ju Young Park, well on the 22nd January 2012, he made his league debut for us coming from the bench with about ten minutes remaining. Funny enough, that too was against Manchester United at The Emirates but this one we lost 2–1.

Prior to that, on the 6th March 2012, he made an appearance as a substitute in the Champions League. That night we beat Milan 3-0 but despite the victory, we were knocked out of the competition as Milan won 4–3 on aggregate.

We haven’t seen him since…

So there you have it, once we thought they were pretty much gonners as far as Arsenal FC are concerned, yet here they both are, all lined up and ready to do their bit when/if called upon….

If they both play well, Arsene won’t sign a striker in January:

I will wait now until December to see what we need in the squad.

We spoke about Bendtner, Sanogo and Giroud. If the three do well, I am in no need to buy any striker.

Part of me wants both to be hopeless, not at the expense of our results of course but I want us to sign a top class striker in January and put to bed any chance of either player being offered a lifeline at Arsenal. But niggling away at the back of me is the hope that at least one of them, if they get a chance, take it and fire in many many goals and we blow opponents aside.

That’s it for another day…

    Morning Rico and all.
Yes, Bendtner does look very weird but I never knew what Park looked like anyway.
If they stay it may mark the beginning of a new ear!

  2. craig says:

You do realise his name is ‘Chu’ Young Park not ‘Ju’ Young Park, and you were correcting the Daily Star! Aha!

    #Gunner4Life!

  3. potter says:

Aye aye , what’s this ear ? guess nobody knows quite what will happen should the two play. Park we all know little or nothing about but Bendtner is a conundrum . We all know he has ability and lot’s of us feel that he never really got the chance to display it. I remember seeing him as a youth forming a partnership with Lupoli and good it was too . At the back of my mind I can’t help feeling that he could succeed and hopefully carry us with him.

  4. ozgunner says:

Bendtner is a permanent head case and has cost us millions – no one wants him for a reason – move along please Arsene

  5. TizTeezy says:

I think NB52 will be a good option in the squad. I do not care as far as he contributes in making winning an instinct at the Arsenal…. COYG!

  6. rico says:

My only worry if Nik plays well is that would fall right into the hands of AW – no doubt he’d offer him a new contract and that top class striker we all hope for will never arrive..

Oz, if he has a good couple of months, maybe another club will come in and he’ll agree a deal somewhere else.

The thought of him staying longer than the summer is not one I want to think about..

  7. ozgunner says:

My thoughts are Rico the board insisted on Ozil or similar and rightly so but knowing Wenger’s track record, if he can find an excuse for not spending he will – Leopards and spots and stuff – Bendtner should be nowhere the first team for many reasons. He’s failed everywhere he’s gone. Wenger ego at work here, “this is my chance to prove everyone wrong” Ain’t gunna happen Arsene – if he scores a few look out come contract time and yes, i can see Arsene making the same mistake all over again.

  8. Lewis says:

    Morning all.

Pretty sure bendy won’t stay longer than next year, he doesn’t want to be there, AW didn’t want him, they are just making do with the situation. Not much choice for either really, course we shouldn’t have to be in this situation but we are.

I hope bendtner smashes them in for us, says thanks for the chance to put myself in the shop window and then fucks off at the end of the year.

  9. potter says:

Who knows perhaps he will score a few before Christmas and we might actually get a few quid for him in January. It’s a marriage of convenience , he needs the exposure and we need the cover.

  10. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning all, Another good read Rico.
Bemdtner has always seemed clumsey to me, apart from his shinanigans and the state of our strikers fate has fell for him to get a chance in the present Arsenal team. He in my mind will fail as he has for quite some years but he did show promise when younger and if we cannot get rid of him he should start to earn his corn. I believe the guy’s ego must be massive as who else would want to stand in front of Arsenal supporters who realy detest him. I wish him well he is going to need it. Wenger should as we all know brought a top class striker but he didn’t, why who knows. maybe because he saw 42 mill go out of the club and hasn’t slept since. But joking apart can we criticise Wengers decisions when were at the top of the league or second Qualified for Champions league and won our first game in the group of death. Only goals scored against us have been dodgy, having said that i feel Wenger has made a mistake by not buying but the man has proved me wrong many times. Players will start returning from injury and our squad that has looked very thin will soon be bulging with want to play players midfielders till they come out of our ear’s and centre backs a plenty fullbacks galore and centre forwards that has me gagging, goalkeepers fighting for that No one position when the rest of them actually get the chance and also mixed in a marquee superstar. Wenger i feel should have ballanced this team with a quality striker but instead he has done it his way, I just hope he has chosen wisely.

  11. frednerk says:

    Morning rico and all,
I have the same thoughts as you potter
    regarding Bentner.

Great to see ramsey playing like he owns the pitch
what a way to answer your critics….
read somewhere he could be the new
    romford pele..

Wenger says its to early to talk about a new contract
I have to the end of the season…its only september,
    he says.
Is he getting advice from Flamini

  12. Lewis says:

Just got a ticket for Tomorrow, lets hope the home fans and home team are up for it! Want us to smash stoke RFU, a team I hate only a little less than the spuds.

  13. Micko says:

What do you ear, what do you say rico !

Bendtner will suck us dry for every penny he can, he’ll start chatting to other clubs in January and get a nice signing on fee from any club daft enough to sign him in the summer, we’ll finally be able to wash our hands of him, waste of breath.

  14. rico says:

    I think he’s waiting for a bumper deal on a freebie…

That’s the only way Bendtner will be able to earn what he’s being paid now…

  15. tomstoned says:

morning all :)nice post as always Rico….c’mon we all know that wenger will never change his transfer policy..ozil was a one off…a great one to be honest, and well when our squad is fit,i dont see the need for buying anyone,..but we’d better pray that Giroud stays fit for most of the season..
Bendtner…that fellah has been in crisis,he was a super talent, and if…and there’s a big IF he have come to peace with himself,he doesnt lack the talent, but he has never had the work code needed,if that has changed,if he has finally grown up,he can be a good player,me im divided but i do hope that Bendtner finally has got his priorities right and his life back in order..
and Sanogo well he needs at least this season to adjust and take some steps in the right direction,
and we shouldnt forget Akpom i really like that fellah….
have a superb weekend all Gooners !

  16. Micko says:

They were bigging up Arsene on Friday night rico, he’s finally made it, Fat Sam never got a mention, he must be gutted !
    It’s all a bit surreal.

  17. rico says:

    Thanks Tom..

And in the footie training Thursday Micko.. Poor old Big Sam, even Alfie didn’t give him a mention, nor Billy the Wizz..

  18. potter says:

Rico , he was a forward that played in the lower leagues that had a distinctive hair style that he used to wear with a head band that made him look like a pineapple.

  19. Scott from Ozil says:

    Morning all.
Oz, even Gazidis acknowledged recently we FINALLY have the money to spend on big players, so you can not still be blaming Wenger mate.
Park…Ju, Chu or Szhou……does it matter?
Bendtner….imagine him with the mindset of ajenks or Aaron…mit make a decent player.
Rico, i think it is harsh to even suggest it may be good to see Sanogo fail…….give him a chance first, he may well surprise a few of us.
Stoke…………Hughes……..damn, there is not much to like about the bastards, is there 🙂

  20. Scott from Ozil says:

Be hopeless…fail….part of you does 🙂
As much as i think Bendtner has talent, i can not see him changing his attitude.
I would love to see him with a little humility.

  21. rico says:

You have got it wrong Scott, very wrong. Who are the two players in the post???

    Bendtner and Park!

Sanogo only comes into from AW comments..

    I’ll accept your apology don’t worry…. 😉

  22. silentstan says:

ozgunner. but then again if Wenger had listened to fans like you Ramsey would be playing somewhere else. lets leave a professional to manage eh.

  23. rico says:

Not sure that’s a fair comment silentstan, after all, not sure you would have been here reading Oz’s comments when Ramsey was struggling with his game…

  24. BrainwashedKev says:

Blimey, It’s slow in Town today….

Mick, I trust you’ve got your rainbow laces on today, as I have….

  25. potter says:

On Pravda . com or the Arsenal website there are pictures of the squad training for Stoke. The last one ” 29 ” shows Bendtner and Bould and Bendtner appears to be listening and taking advice. I remember the rumours of Bouldy knocking Nik’s hat off when he first came into the dressing room as assistant were true and it’s the kicking that makes him tick. Maybe Rice was too soft and let him get away with things. We shall see.

  26. Micko says:

Kev, there can’t be more than a couple of husband and wife combo taxi drivers on your patch, do you know of any by any chance ?

  27. BrainwashedKev says:

    God it’s slow today…

Just been looking at al the usual old guff on News Now.

You gotta luv some of those advert generated sites, with all their old recycled news and lies.

Never read any of them if I can help it, their headlines are enough to put me off.

Adam’s favourite, Bleachers Report with it’s ’50 strikers Wenger should buy’ or ’10 things Wenger must do to win an away game’.
Never read it. A pile of crap..

Here is the City (what a moronic title) they just love churning out the lies and the effluent.
Never read it. Another pile of crap.

Sabotage Times (joke title for a joke site) another pile of shit, full of lies and stories lifted from elsewhere.
Never read it. Yet another pile of crap.

And now we have Sport Witness (Witless more like).
Saw the headlines about Wenger wanting Song back.
Now why would he do that?
Didn’t read it. Have no intention of ever reading it.
    Yep, another pile of crap.

  28. BrainwashedKev says:

Sorry Mick, I was off on a rant…

No mate, I don’t, I know a couple of women drivers, but in this job you can see someone a couple of days on the spin, then not see them for a couple of months.

    Hi Potter

  29. potter says:

Hi lads, boring isn’t it. listening to the radio and trying to find something interesting to read. Even Le Grove seems to have become a subscriptioin site . Don’t know what the worlds coming to.

  30. BrainwashedKev says:

I’d like to know where our forecasted sunny weekend went too Potter???

Blimey, i’m starting to sound as miserable as Wath…

  31. potter says:

That’s why my ticket went on exchange. Can you believe they put Arsenal-Stoke on T.V. . They probably anticipate another drama , you know a fight ,a sending off, or if they are really lucky another broken leg. Why else would they have chosen this one. Incidentally |I put my ticket up at about 9 oclock in the evening and it was sold at 7.15 the next day.

  32. Micko says:

Doesn’t that actually go towards a credit for next years season ticket Potter rather than the money being refunded into your bank account, that’s as I understood it anyway.
Looking like a good chance to reclaim top spot again tomorrow.

  33. rico says:

    Scott – I knew you’d come round 🙂

Kev, summer starts on Sunday with 3 points 🙂

Di Canio is looking very likely to be the first casualty of the season…

Unless Fulham beat Chelsea tomorrow 😉

Liverpool losing and they are the last unbeaten PL side left 😛

I’m off out for dinner so have a good evening all, be back a bit later…

  34. Adam says:

A great shame about Liverpool losing.
Perhaps they aren’t the invincible bunch of übermensch the papers would have us believe after all.

  35. Scott from Ozil says:

So i wake up with a rather unpleasant feeling in my stomach.
On goes the tele too see tens of thousands for Scousers suffering the same ailment 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  36. tsgh says:

Scott, after 4 games the dippers and their media cronies thought they were invincible Mk II.lol
Still, the REAL Liverpool FC are unbeaten…

  37. Micko says:

Ah okay Potter, came very close to using it when I was having a little spot of bother with mine last season.
tsgh, why sell him to another club when you can toss him aside like a used teabag and hang him out to dry instead, mata’s quality, long may their shit form continue.

  38. tsgh says:

You have been advising ‘Hose’ again Micko?

    Not bad Dna… and you.

FC Munchen ts winning again. Is Thaaiago injured? 22M spent and a RB and CAM are playing in his DM role.

  39. S2S says:

    Hey all, ts

Nearly 12 here. The only way I see for NB23 to redeem himself is if we’re 2-0 up in 90th mins and he headbutts Shawcross in Zidaneesque manner. If he does that then all is forgiven from my side.

  40. tsgh says:

    Nicklas Bendtner ‏@bendtnerb52 6h
Very pleased to be involved again after very hard work to come back.
    Many thanks to the staff.
    Give it everything
    #humble #newstart

    Very good!

  41. potter says:

had to laugh at this one :-Arsenal free agent striker target ‘punches’ paparazzo at his apartment.

Sounds just right for us then.
