Arsene, you are wrong, Davies is a dirty player!!

Before the game I read an article in which Arsene Wenger said Kevin Davies wasn’t a cheat. I wonder if he still felt the same at 5pm yesterday?

In to the game and within a few moments, Almunia made a bit of a hash of a clearance, had the game been shown live on television, panic would have set in, waiting for the usual howlers to follow…

What appeared a tricky home tie on paper before the game due to the vast amount of injuries, turned out to be a stroll in the park in the end, the scoreline flattering Bolton.

The old Cesc was back and on form and Tomas Rosicky wasn’t far behind him. Cesc had an early opportunity, only to see his shot blocked, then Arshavin should have opened the scoring after being put in buy Tomas Rosicky only to be denied by rookie keeper Adam Bogdan

Rosicky himself was the next to have a shot but saw it go just over the bar.  Was it going to be one of those days, all shots and no goals?

Davies then has a chance but this time Almunia saved. Then on 24 minutes, Laurent Koscielny scored his first Arsenal goal, not the best he will ever score but who cares, we were one up and about time too.

The hero then became a bit of a villain when his poor header back towards Almunia allowed Bolton’s Johan Elmander to nip in and equalise! 1-1 Same old same old, so many chances but so few goals for Arsenal.

Half-time – 1-1

After the break, Bolton upped their game and put the pressure on but then just before the hour Chamakh headed in at the rear post.  After surviving the pressure, Almunia made a super save to deny Holden, albeit the offside flag was up

Fabregas sent Chamakh clear but Bogdan made yet another save giving away a corner to Arsenal. Bolton failed to clear this one and Fabregas chipped a cross to far post for Chamakh head home. 2-1

Then came the moment of controversy, Gary Cahill sent off for a challenge on Marouane Chamakh. Many say it was the wrong decision made by the referee. Well, I don’t care really, Chamakh didn’t cheat to get Cahill sent off, if the referee gets it wrong then so be it. Haven’t we been on the end of some dreadful decisions??

Bolton’s Robinson should have followed him to an early bath after or a foul on substitute Abou Diaby.

Song and Fabregas both went close from range, Elmander had another chance too, Rosicky had another chance, another missed.

Then it was time for Alex Song to step up and settle the nerves, he picked up a low cross from Arshavin at the near post and cleverly clipped the ball around the defender before poking the ball home from a tight angle. That was to be Arsenal’s 1,000th Premier League goal under Arsene Wenger.

Shortly after, Carlos Vela added to that tally, having come off the bench he raced onto a deft little pass from Fabregas and coolly slotted home.

So we won 4-1

The game should have seen three Bolton players see red?
How many more injuries have we picked up?
How many penalties should we have had?
And just how many dirty tackles is Davies allowed to get away with?

Not the best match report, guess who’s Sky Football First didn’t record 🙁

Morning Rico it sums up everything really I loved the way Rosicky played another unsung Hero he will be massive this season oh Song what can I say he really is one of the best player at the moment for Arsenal

  2. rico says:

jeffers, in an ideal world yes, but for the sake of others i have done my best, thats what you do when you run a site, get one yourself and you’ll see!!

  3. Bala says:

I noted on the highlights that it was vela who won the ball with a good tackle and started that 26 passes which he eventually finished by scoring a good goal

  4. rico says:

    Morning Erick

Saw a few highlights on sky and match of the day, they did good, cesc has found form and rosicky is like the old rosicky.. it’s good 🙂

  5. Stef says:

Muamba should of been shown the red and yet didn’t even had yellow.
Robinson also same ol` same ol` I thought he broke Diaby leg.

Cahill maybe a yellow but why he didn’t let Arsenal play we had the ball in a great position it was unfair for us and maybe Bolton although Chamakh was lucky to avoid the tackle.

The report is fine but you should of mention the not given advantage.

  6. bolto345 says:

right boys obviously a bolton fan here , i can understand your complaints about davies , but he is’nt dirty he is just fully 100 % committed .
Do you not think its a little cheap to go on about davies all the time though , was it not one of your players who broke campo’s foot , broke steinnsons foot , and didn’t one of your players stamp on M Davies ankle last year in the build up to your goal ? , i like arsenal you play great football , but football is still football its commited things happen. Arsenal used to have parlor viera … petit ? were those players dirty or just fully commited ? all good players but lets remember boys i don’t think they were the type to ‘shy’ out of a challenge either were they.
good luck for the rest of the season anyways .

  7. rico says:

just seen the sending off, jj was right with what he wrote last night, dubious red card and we we on the attack with a great chance to score. also, song has tripped a bolton player just prior to that…

    hey ho, eh 😉

  8. rico says:

    hi bolto345,

good to see you here and with a sensible comment.

gallas tackle last year was not good at all, i agree but davies is always dirty against us, i balme your previous manager for that…

robinson should have gone off yesterday, he could have broken diaby’s leg, cahill however, was very unlucky…

  9. rico says:

    Stef,

That is why we should have technical assistance, he should get a retrospective ban, mind you, the FA could still look at the tackle as the ref didn’t deal with it…

  10. adam says:

Cahill was unlucky to get sent off but Wenger was right. As soon as the ref pulled out the red he was pointing to where he thought a foul had been missed almost as if the two were somehow related. Song might or might not have tripped the Bolton player but Cahill was extracting his own bit of revenge for the missed foul and that is certainly cynical. What was a red card was Davies’ continued fouling which should have got him at least three yellows and Robinsons horrible assault on Diaby which, when I saw it on TV last night, was much worse than it looked at the ground. As for the referee? Well, it’s easy to constantly moan about them them isn’t it but this bloke was laughably bad and the sort of ref who, by letting thuggery go, is one of the main causes of players sustaining bad injuries and how the Eboue penalty wasn’t given is beyond me, to say nothing of the Arshavin one too. Mind you, he got no help from his linesmen who really, really should have spotted Robinsons “tackle”. I used to hate playing Bolton when the Walrus was in charge and I can’t really see how that much has changed under Coyle.

  11. rico says:

    hi adadm spot on comment…

sky just showed wenger and he was saying that cahill seemed to want ‘revenge’ – the robinson tackle has to be reviewed, i don’t know how that didn’t break diaby’s leg….

  12. adam says:

Hi Rico. To me the referees never seem to spot the trends during the game. I can remember Reyes being deliberately targeted by Man Utd players a few seasons back. Riley didn’t seem to see it and I have seen Cesc getting the same treatment. It doesn’t take a great leap of imagination to imagine a Hughes, Pulis, McLeish and even Coyle ( who I misjudged as being a footballing manager) telling his players to dish it out to Fabregas and injure him to lessen his impact on Arsenal’s play. But the refs just don’t spot it do they? Cesc received some serious attention yesterday from the Bolton midfield and nothing was done to protect him.

  13. Anonymarse says:

Cahill went in with both feet off the ground and no control over the challenge – Attwell was in the perfect position to see it and made the correct decision (about the only time he did in the game). You don’t have to break someone’s leg for it to warrant a red card. Bolton may have been unlucky with the Song decision just before, but if you tackle like that you have no grounds to complain. Thanks to MOTD for not showing what looked like a legbreaker from from serial offender Robinson on Diaby. Let’s hope he’s ok.

  14. rico says:

adam – we are always victimised and the refs tend to ‘look the other way’ – yet so many others get away with it. Thats possibly why the FA don’t want to bring in technology as it will really highlight the errors in the referees games…

for them all to be so inconsistant to is wrong…

  15. K-TR7 says:

Morning all.good report rico and i agree with what you’ve said.I loved the weekend since it was full of surprised.Barça lost two nil at home against newly promoted hercules.they could have lost by more since Trezeguet amazingly missed an open goal…Milan fielded their fab4 but lost two nil to newly promoted Cesena.ibra even managed to miss a penalty…

  16. rico says:

    Hi KTR7, thanks 🙂

So Barca lost eh, deep joy and Jose’s lot won… 🙂

Ercik, totally agree, that tackle was disgracegul…

  17. K-TR7 says:

Braga lost to Porto despite taking the lead twice…Inter won last night but were so poor it was almost unbelievable they had recently won the CL.Rafa looked clueless but i can tell erick mariga played well despite missing a seater.Alexis sanchez, the chilean, tortured chivu to a point he was subbed just after halftime.that boy is a real prospect…Real Madrid won one nil with carvalho scoring.they were not dazzling but dominated to an extent casillas made no notable saves.i must say özil was excellent as he was MOTM.if he continues in the same vein he will play kaka out of Madrid.i hope it was not a false dawn for him as i remember VDV scored a hattrick on his competitive debut.if he gets playing time he will win the balon d’or soon and may even star in the CL this year and for years to come.

  18. Erick says:

Rico we should have signed Ozil we missed out big time If Cesc leaves he would have slotted in nicely hope Aw has a plan

  19. K-TR7 says:

Yes he did erick.i am also going to keep an eye for oliech when Auxerre play madrid for you…rico i’ll tell all about braga in my cl post which am working on as we speak but you’re right braga will be anything but pushovers.they finished above porto last season and KOed sevilla in cl qualifiers.

  20. Suhail.TV says:

Hi Rico, all good.. and how u doing..
The referee forgot about penalty!! for 90 mins

Kevin Davies was so clever he acted like injured after damaging kos’s head.. I was watching his face

  21. rico says:

    Spooky Bala, but very funny..

We all waited for Cesc to find his boots again, he said he was ready to face Bolton, boy he didn’t dissapoint, mind you, a few put ain a good shift yesterday…

  22. K-TR7 says:

In the Bundesliga Mclarens wolfsburg lost two nil to dortmund…Bayern and bremen drew nil nil in a very open game.Ribery was very good but klose and müller looked fatigued after wc exploits.i have mentioned marin, a bremen and German youngster, who impressed with his dribbling and directness…i’ll keep on updating you rico as soon as the games are completed.

  23. rico says:

    STV,
Phil Thompson is one of the Sky Sports Football panel who commentate on match day, he is also an ex livepool player, once assistant manager to Gerrard Houllier

  24. K-TR7 says:

Someone mentioned Reyes and i remember how the neville brothers kicked him off the field under the glare of the ref.i watched him recently in the UEFA Supercup vs Inter where he scored and was very impressive.Reyes could have turned out to be our very own cr9 had it not been for a number of factors…

  25. rico says:

That will alaways anger me KTR7, the way Reyes was treated was a disgrace, i really like Reyes until he started to talk his way out of the club, could have been a real hero with us….

Didn’t he come off the bench to score the goals that won Madrid the title a few years ago…

  26. Stef says:

I am reading Arsenal blogs and is so funny when you stumble upon some1 saying Cesc/Song was imperious 😀
I know they were great, but `come on!`:? imperious lol

  27. K-TR7 says:

What i like about us is that we look like the team of 07-08 with much more fluidity and steel.in vela’s goal we made 24 passes but the media are on about cahill’s red.if the mancs had scored such a goal…

  28. Stef says:

Maybe I find the word funny, but always cracks me out 😉

It would be cool if the commentators comment like that.
Would have a nice lough I don’t know if some of u played UT2003/4 it will sound familiar.
Just for Rico hear is your words put in sound when I read ’em 🙂
Dominating Just click on the play button.

sorry for the late response was searching for the sound.

  29. K-TR7 says:

Those Almunia critics should shut up and support him.i watched hart vs the swiss and yesterday vs blackburn.he seemed to drop clangers.Don’t get me started on reina.also if anyone saw the goal cesar conceded in the supercup from reyes fans would stop giving Al grief over Ngog’s near post rocket.our defence is looking good and Al is regaining his confidence.support him i say…

  30. rico says:

Same old KTR7, they rave about the mancs, where as us….. their loss, that vela goal was pure class by the whole of the team…

  31. Erick says:

The media is crap KT i just can’t stand them I was on Oliech he should be disciplined or else he will be just an ordinary player

  32. Stef says:

Rico, I know Song is a beast 🙂 never said he isn’t great player, we will not be so good if he is on the bench.

I even supported Cameroon on the World Cup.
Just had lough on the imperious talk that’s all.

    OK that’s clear then 😛

  33. Erick says:

Stef I understand hope you got your pen and note book am abt to give you a Swahili class Stv he is 24 he will be a beast onces he gains some muscles 🙂

  34. Stef says:

I know 1 word already Hakuna Matata 😀
Swahili looks interesting language to learn wouldn’t mind to learn something.
Koz said he was spending time in the gym to bulk up for the Bolton game I guess.

  35. rico says:

Kos is in the gym to build himself up in general, credit to him too, he came here, realised its a hard league and is taking it upon himself to get fitter and stronger…

  36. Erick says:

Rico when BB played Everton Howard dropped a clanger that saw BB score but yesterday was pure magic 🙂 Hakuna matata (means no worries) I see you are a good student. Another one for you Stef Twende = “lets go” kuja =”Come”

  37. Stef says:

BTW anybody saw Stephen Appiah from Cesena played against Milan (2-0) I think he is a solid player need to work on his pass thou.

  38. Erick says:

Koscielny will be a great player he was new and untested but so far he has been great minus experience but he is getting there another thing I noticed that Squillaci has pace just like Koscielny

  39. Stef says:

Kuja twende, Come let’s go or the grammar put’s in reverse order. Last year I was learning Spanish on MSN now Swahili on a blog who would knew 😀
Koz would be great when he puts some muscles he is already tough guy.

  40. Erick says:

Stef I think Appiah is a good player but Ghana has many great players he can’t make it into that squad but always been a great player

  41. Stef says:

When TV get’s back in the first team who would you pair with him Squili or Koz.
On some blogs think Squili is the better option, what you think?

  42. Erick says:

Kuja twende perfect Stef. Cup is ‘Kikombe’ Spoon is ‘Kijoko’ School is ‘Shule’ and Work is ‘Kazini’

  43. K-TR7 says:

Denilson made 48 passes in 21 minutes with only one unsuccessful.i know most of you say they are all sideways and backwards but its an amazing feat.most fans have never understood his role but AA said he was very underrated.when he entered the fray there seemed to be a calmness in our game.he keeps it simple but flowing.when he plays on the central left clichy and AA have freedom to bomb forward.he is very crucial in European games as the games vs barca showed.if he has indeed bulked up he will be very good for us.Look at Carrick who went to utd leading to 3pl titles,2 cl final appearances in which they won one and cc titles.i’m not insinuating he did it alone but he played a huge role.last season he lost his form and since then the mancs midfield looks weaker.Xavi said he was their most essential player and i agree.pedro/geoff are also expecting big things from denboy,so am i.if he is fullyfit now he will be very essential.i watched xavi at 22 and he was receiving the same criticism.am not saying he’ll reach the heights but am willing to give him the chance.

  44. Suhail.TV says:

He also made a typical denilson shot curling bit left,..Young wilshere was also shown up esp with his pass for cesc for first goal.

  45. Stef says:

Kikombe and Kijoko would be hard to remember the other 2 are easy Shule sounds like a loan from German, Kazini sounds like Casino 🙂
with the help of Google : Mimi masomo katika shule.
…so kazini is the noun and kazi is the verb

  46. Erick says:

KT totally agree Denilson change the game and calmness was seen his give and go in the middle are on spot I think Aw should stop playing him DM and let him play a supporting role to Cesc

  47. Stef says:

so shuleni means in school I don’t get masoma and usoma thou soma has similar meaning in Latin, so study and read have the same root in soma or?

  48. Stef says:

Denilson has a great shot from distance I like when he take his chances, not like when our full backs shoot over the bar.
If Song is fit he can take the position of Diaby and will be the new Eboue he has great skills but he isn’t a DM.

  49. rico says:

Stef, Song is one of the first names on the team sheet, he and Cesc in the middle are just fine, denilson, diaby are the ones on the bench if we have a full squad..

denilson can score a good goal.. and have the odd good game…

  50. rico says:

And Diaby Erick, many fans have little time for him too, he could be great if his head and feet would work together, at the same time… 😉

  51. Stef says:

Diaby needs to learn to pass the ball and he’ll be fine.
Denilson can play as CM or AM but never a DM not in a million years I would rather put young Jack as a DM.

If AW didn’t play him as DM he would of been more accepted by the fans.

  52. rico says:

Jacks a no no for me too Stef, he’s far too creative, We have Eastmond and Frimpong albeit the latter is injured 🙁

  53. The BearMan says:

Back to your original question: Arsene wrong about Davies? I will answer by saying this, was he wrong or simply keeping on the good side of Bolton with the view of prising away Cahill and perhaps creating further opportunities for our young stars to get the necessary experience at their club. There are times when a manager must know when to show their red card and when its best to keep it in their pockets.

I bet had he foresaw Mark Hughes going to Fulham, he might have exercised a little restraint and showed Mark the yellow in press conferences and not the straight red on each encounter last season. Maybe Wenger would have gotten his man – Mark the goal keeper.

Another point: Has our team finally come of age or is it still early days? Is this team capable of going the distance? Shame Arshavin left his shooting boots in his locker yesterday, however he played his part and we move on to the next game with much confidence. Vela has to keep doing simply that whenever he comes off the bench steal the moment. All-in-all Gooners went away smiling.

  54. K-TR7 says:

Rico there are some quotes from Sacchi one of the most successfull coaches of Milan regarding football brains that id love to share here with you all and tell me what you make of them:
“When I was director of football at Real Madrid I had to evaluate the players coming through the youth ranks. We had some who were very good footballers. They had technique, they had athleticism, they had drive, they were hungry.

“But they lacked what I call knowing-how-to-play-football. They lacked decision making. They lacked positioning. They didn’t have the subtle sensitivity of football: how a player should move within the collective. And for many, I wasn’t sure they were going to learn. You see, strength, passion, technique, athleticism, all of these are very important. But they are a means to an end, not an end in itself. They help you reach your goal, which is putting your talent at the service of the team and, by doing this, making both of you and the team greater.

“In situations like that, I just have to say, Gerrard’s a great footballer, but perhaps not a great player.”

  55. K-TR7 says:

And the following quotes were from johann cryuff re:Ibra
Sweden and Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has “good technique for a bad player, bad technique for a good player,” according to Dutch great Johan Cruyff.

  56. The BearMan says:

What say you about Eden Hazard, a player with passion, vision, technical ability in abundance, a fighter, self-motivated, the eye for goal, physically strong- excellent balance-agile. I believe Wenger has him on his radar.

My opinion: All of the above is true, he might score 20 30 goals per season. Not sure he is a team player??? Individual brilliance without question.

  57. rocky says:

You are wrong take a look at the game more fouls where committed against davis and bolton as a whole in fact acording to the comentator twice as many but your ref gave you all the decisions and us the cards your foriegn team are a disgrace

  58. rico says:

    Thats a deep statement KTR7

I actually think Gerrard is a great footballer, if he didn’t cheat and dive he would be one of the best in the world.

Footballing brain, we have a few who don’t have a footballing brain, so often getting caught out of position or not knowing when to let the ball go….

We also have one or two who don’t lay they body on the line for us, does that mean they lack hunger and desire??

  59. Erick says:

KT part of that is true when you are young you can learn but when you get at a certain age your past learning then coaches let players go but it true some players will never learn

  60. agirlagunner says:

rico, I’m not prepared to go al oooh-ahhh on Denilson either. One good performance does not define him. So much has been written about his fantastic passing stats, butI have yet to be convinced that he has that special something that would elevate him from good to great.

  61. agirlagunner says:

Mzuri, Erick. (Oh dear, I should pay more attention to the Swahii lessons.) I am in fine spirits (hic), thank you for asking. 😉

  62. rico says:

Howdy agag, glad to hear all is rosy, no doubt that is down to our fine result yesterday 🙂

i’m not a fan of stats, after all, if you looked at Almunia’s for last season, you would think he was dreadful 😉 😉

  63. K-TR7 says:

[About Carrick] “His job is to keep possession and orchestrate possession. His job is to float in the gaps, playing little out-balls, moving into space, always offering a ‘get out of jail free’ card … Sideways passes are better than wayward passes. Backwards passes are fine. Short passes are just as valuable as Hollywood balls. Waiting 60 minutes for a goal is sensible. This is intelligent football. This is grown-up stuff.”
Rico i have made that just for you.

  64. agirlagunner says:

It was noticeable though rico, that Denilson seemed unperturbed by the roughhouse tactics of Bolton. You could see the thuggery had gotten under the skin of some of ours (Cesc, Diaby, Little Jack, Gibbsy). He went about his business in a very composed fashion. If this is what his lengthy lay-off resulted in— I am glad.

  65. Erick says:

K-T how is the CL Piece coming through can’t wait the Barca ones we great 🙂 Re Carrick I think England needed him at WC put Capello thought otherwise

  66. K-TR7 says:

Below is his pass completion per minute ratio (from yesterday), compared to our other midfielders and some other top flight midfielders (all from yesterday’s games):

46 passes in 18 minutes = 2.55 passes per minute (Denilson)
58 passes in 90 minutes = 0.64 passes per minute (Alex Song)
58 passes in 90 minutes = 0.64 passes per minute (Cesc)
56 passes in 90 minutes = 0.62 passes per minute (John Obi Mikel)
54 passes in 90 minutes = 0.6 passes per minute (Michael Essien)
48 passes in 90 minutes = 0.53 passes per minute (Paul Scholes)
47 passes in 90 minutes = 0.52 passes per minute (Wilson Palacios)
35 passes in 67 minutes = 0.52 passes per minute (Paddy Vieira)
46 passes in 90 minutes = 0.51 passes per minute (Joey Barton)
44 passes in 90 minutes = 0.48 passes per minute (Tom Huddlestone)
23 passes in 59 minutes = 0.38 passes per minute (Jack Wilshere)
27 passes in 90 minutes = 0.3 passes per minute (Darren Fletcher)
    23 passes in 90 minutes = 0.25 passes per minute (John O’Shea)
17 passes in 90 minutes = 0.18 passes per minute (Phil Jones, Blackburn)
13 passes in 90 minutes = 0.14 passes per minute (Kevin Nolan)
8 passes in 58 minutes = 0.13 passes per minute (Grella, Blackburn)
    Sourced from Guardian Chalkboards

  67. Erick says:

Rico nice job she must be alone out there 🙁 so apart from English Agag and French what other language do you speak

  68. agirlagunner says:

Jambo, KT. The Cruyff and Sacchi quotes are really great thoughts to ponder.

Our trademark of walking the ball into the goal works sometimes, but it hasn’t and won’t always; and I’m sure our players, more than anyone know that, so last night, I was really happy to see our players dish it out too but keep their heads.

  69. K-TR7 says:

All am saying is give the boy a chance.he has flaws just like any other youngster so let nature take its course as stated in the lambark’s theory…

  70. rico says:

agag, i think most of us here will recognise a players improvement when they improve, like you say, if denny’s layoff has made him grow, then power to him, but just as with Theo, one good game doesn’t make him Messi 😉 😉

  71. agirlagunner says:

Just Filipino, Erick. My French is… pathétique, and I am being kind.

I think the GG man is off on a media junket for his favorite vodka, Erick. Otherwise, the vodka got the better of him yesterday, and he’s lying in a passed out heap somewhere. 🙂

  72. K-TR7 says:

Rico he has flaws i agree.he can be one dimensional but he is executed for not being the new cesc.he can be one dimensional much like nasri takes fewer risks.not all midfielders have the maturity and talent to do it at cesc’s age.even xavi/iniesta in their early 20’s couldn’t do what cesc does now which proves he is an exceptional talent.even now xavi/iniesta pass sideways alot tiring out the opposition but due to the extra experience they can slice a defence when it matters.denilson hasn’t developed this and i’m confident he will.cesc is a unique talent just like özil so thats not a fair benchmark for denilson.could lamps/gerrard/ballack do it at 21?…thats your answer.

  73. rico says:

Erick, see now that might be the answer, i always thought he was a creative midfielder and would be the one to step in for cesc when injured, but now we have Rosicky, Nasri, Ramsey and Jack who can do that…

  74. agirlagunner says:

KT, I would have to agree that it’s unfair to compare Cesc to teammates since the former is a truly outstanding player; and it will never be apples to apples. But Nasri, surely, takes more risks than Denilson?

Last night, we were fortunate the goals came. Against better quality teams that will mark us more tightly, Denilson has to learn to make that incisive goal-creating pass… He will still learn, that’s for sure; and if happens this season, it would not come a moment too soon. 🙂

  75. K-TR7 says:

Agag have you watched nasri?he dribbles sideways and in circles most of the time.he should be taking more risks since he is an AM while den is a CM but he hasn’t harnessed that yet and thats why we looked more dangerous when rosicky came on at anfield.i’m sure with age he like denilson will mature into making more risks but as i have explained unless you’re exceptional you’re going to have to harness it with experience.

  76. rico says:

KT, I am not trying to compare Denilson with Cesc, the only player we have that MAY get to be nearly as good as him is Ramsey, maybe Wilshere..

I think Erick is right, Wenger is playing him in the wrong positon, makes me wonder when Wenger bought him, which role for him did he have in mind?

  77. rico says:

agag, thats where Cesc and maybe even arshavin have it, its about the right pass at the right time that kills sides off – if denilson and diaby both learn that then we will have two outstanding players..

yes they are still young, but how long have they been part of our first team??

  78. agirlagunner says:

KT, I am almost sure, without checking stats, that Nasri and Denilson scored the same number of goals for Arsenal last season; but where Denilson would lose a ball and shrug his shoulders, Nasri would try to recover it; and where Denilson would pass sideways or backwards to a teammate, Nasri would go one-on-one with the oppo. Maybe it’s my rose tinteds since I like what Nasri brings to our team. 🙂 🙂 On the other hand, who can samba better than Denilson??? 🙂

  79. agirlagunner says:

Ramsey is a special talent; and the fact that we have lost him for months and months and months; and the possibility that he may not be what he was pre-Stoke is something I will never forgive Shawcross for.

  80. rico says:

We paid £3.4M for Denilson and Wenger says he is a little bit of Rosicky and a little bit of Gilberto…….

I guess the Gilberto bit is because he’s Brazilian 😉

  81. rico says:

agag, did you see yesterday jj said he would like shawcross playing for us…

he may be a hard tackler, but like you, i can nebver forgive him for what he did to ramsey and i certainly couldn’t stomach seeing him playing in the red and white of arsenal

  82. K-TR7 says:

Rico xavi had been in barca’s first team since he was 20 but he wasn’t able to do it till now.you also have to account that they have been injured alot in their times here.i also explained to you a few days back that thats why Aw is playing wilshere/ramsey deeper at first.this enables them to see all player movements ingraining it in them so that they can be able to make those passes higher up the pitch.AW said fab4 has football as a science already in his brain which is very rare.from what i’ve seen ramsey and wilshere certainly have it and if harnessed well we’ll have 2 cescs…

  83. rico says:

KTR7, one thing I need to clarify, i really want every player who wears our shirt to do well, so many knocked Song but look at him now. If Diaby and Denilson do that this season they I will be one of the happiest fans around, becuase I want them to do well, just like i do Almunia…

And trust me, if this is the season that all three play the best football they have so far from them, we will finally see silverware in May 2011 🙂

  84. agirlagunner says:

I read JJ’s most recent post, rico, and I was right, he did say that Theo couldn’t beat an egg. 🙂

Shawcross? In our kit? Eek 😮 My skin positively crawls at the thought. Eurgh. I doubt that will go down well at the locker room. If by some odd working of the universe that comes to pass, it would be nice if part of his Arsenal initiation, where the newly-drafted are required to sing or something, allows Rambo to have a go at him– with a lead pipe. To even things out and all that. 😉

  85. rico says:

KTR7, thing is I don’t watch any overseas leagues so its kind of hard for me to relate, to be honest, i only really watch Arsenal. If i’m cooking or bored, I may watch other games, but that seldom happens 😉

  86. agirlagunner says:

But I like how Denilson, over the summer, seemed to be the only player to directly tell Barcelona that Cesc was going nowhere. I thought that was brilliant. 🙂

  87. agirlagunner says:

That sounds yummy. I just supped on a cupcake because I didn’t like what was on offer at our dinner table. Haha. Ungrateful. You always have me hungry, rico.

  88. rico says:

    😉 agag, how mean i am….

i forgot that about denilson, he is happy with us, just like gilberto was, maybe soon we will see a bit more of the old brazilian in the younger brazilian 😉

  89. K-TR7 says:

Rico thats why am here.am your eyes in other leagues for those of you who don’t watch other leagues.i compared wilshere to iniesta/hleb and ramsey to gerrard since i watch them regularly.in wilshere’s case you only need to watch him for half an hour to know he has talent in abundance.playing that killer pass isn’t as easy as it looks rico.thats why AA will always start over vela because he is very decisive on such occassions.in our squad only AA,RVP,Cesc and rosicky can do it regularly.give the rest time and as they train with the affermentioned players they will develop it.

  90. rico says:

Wilshere and Ramsey will be awesome but thats my point KTR7, they have it at such a young age, how does that compare to Denilson and Diaby??

  91. agirlagunner says:

rico, the lead pipe is to smash Shawcross’ leg with, by the way. Then they can have that pipe of tobacco, if AW doesn’t protest over the post-prandial smoke. 🙂

I really like Rambo; he can pass, assist, score. And he’s like Rosicky in that he has great movement.

  92. rico says:

I’d give him more than a lead pipe agag….

Just hope Ramsey comes back soon and gets his old self back, if he does that, we are going to see a cracking player…

  93. agirlagunner says:

Good night, good people. Another great discussion day for one and all. 🙂

rico, I hope you’re having dinner with some vino divino. 🙂

KT, be good. Your 3:31 was great, btw.

And you too, Weeds; never mind that you didn’t react to my 3:35 :p

  94. rico says:

You know what KTR7, I believe that too…..

and Sky, well by then the mancs wont have old red nose to grovel to, he’ll be retired 🙂

  95. rico says:

shortly agag, just got to walk the dogs, then a quiet night in with dinner and a glass of water 😉 😉

good night to you too and yes another good day thanks to all 🙂

i’m off for a bit too for a walk in the lovely sunshine….

  96. Sid says:

Did I real,lt see a post stating that Diaby isnt a decent player, yet?

He has been immense since last season. His performances tailed off towards the end of the season and I think that was due to fatigue as he hasnt played a lot of games for ages due to persistent injuries (fingers crossed he isnt injured again)

I think in the 4-2-3-1 system he has shwn already he has it in him to be a great player for us.

  97. Stef says:

Rico there is sunshine in UK 🙁 that’s not fair all day here is cloudy and gloomy.
Looks like all are gone I was making dinner and watching Bundes Liga nice games lil better quality then Seria A me thinks 🙂

Agag wasn’t Philippino called Tagalog which has loan words from English and Spanish.

Sorry to miss the veggie stuff 😀 Rico

    have good 1 all

I have suggestion about the comment section.
Could it be possible to shorten the amount of the displayed comments say for example 20 cause it is lots faster scrolling down.

  99. K-TR7 says:

Night rico.we have had a good debate.you have tested my ‘football brain’ to defend den and i hope now you can view him in a different light.night all…

  100. Sid says:

    Thanks Rico

Yeah I appreciate people have different opinions, but I think Diaby has shown his worth nto the team by now and he can get better still, whixh is cool.

I think Rosicky has been class so far this season too and with Cesc getting into form, we are in good shape.

We just need the strikers to try and stay fit. Thats not too much to ask is it? 😀

  101. rico says:

I’m not a huge fanm of Diaby Sid, I do however live in hope 🙂

The midfield is looking strong and I agree, we hust need the strikers to stay fit. We are liucky that we are able to score from all over…
