Arsene Wenger’s Contract Issues.

Morning all.

Speculation about the contract of the man many people like to deride seems like something that will not go away in the nearest future. Many people are of the belief that he has overstayed his welcome, run out of steam, and should not be anywhere close to the touchline for the Gunners. But the fact that he is still in charge of affairs at the club reveals that the board is not of the same view.

The man who has been the manager of Arsenal Football Club since 1996 has had a lot of pressure from the fans based on his lacklustre performance in the last 12 years. He has not won the English Premier League during that time and has never won the Champions League. But one thing is sure amidst all these calls for his head, we always wake up to the next season with Wenger at the helm of affairs at arsenal.

How Wenger Gets To Keep His Job.

Someone said that the magic he had used over the years lies in his appearances at the stakeholders meeting every year. There, he will always address the meeting at its peak. This address he normally does without any notes, speaking off his head for about 10 minutes. It is believed that it’s the product of this speech that normally prolongs Arsene Wenger’s contract in Arsenal. Many people see it as the high point of the meeting every year, no matter how the pressure from the fans piles up. He has a way of currying some favour and goodwill from the shareholders at the end of it all.

The way he disarms the critiques is by joking about his long years at the club and then getting down to his commitment and pride as the manager of the club. Even when football odds are fully stacked against his contract with the club, he will still talk about his loyalty and the values of the club. This is the one that he bribes the people with. He will hang on the sworn principle of giving the younger players their chance and maintaining the nature and style of football arsenal is known for. He will talk about how those values are worth much more than any results, and the board and shareholders will buy into it, give him another contract, and he stays on.

However, the issue of speculations on whether he will leave the club got to a crescendo when the club missed out on champions league football for the first time in many years. All hell was let loose, and majority of the fans endorsed his dismissal. However, we came back to the start of the 2017-2018 campaign to see Wenger in Arsenal as the manager he has been for the past 21 years.

Now, events that are unfolding every weekend and a look at the current premier league table still show that there is no improvement in the squad. So, Arsenal will likely not get a champions league place next year. The French man has only 18 months remaining in his contract, and though the clubs performance has been below par, it looks like Wenger’s time in Arsenal is not up yet. The clubs body language reveals this.

Tony Adams Take.

Confirming what punters at oddsdigger.com believe about him, one of the club legends in the person of Tony Adams said that he doesn’t see the club sacking Arsene Wenger. The manager posited that he will continue in the game for as long as his health allows him. Adams confirmed this by saying that he doesn’t seem to have anything outside of football, but questioned how long he can go the way he is going now. The 67 years old penned a two year contract with the club in the summer and is expected to get at least one more contract at the end of this.

Oh well, at least we’ve got a Carabao Cup semi-final to look forward to. Don’t knock it honest, City needed extra time and penalties to get past Leicester ….

It makes him look as slick as he thinks he is?

Morning all. Bright and sunny here. A celebration of a 1-0 win…..again. Has GG been re-employed?

All very depressing Rico for those who want to get back to attending matches but can’t find the empathy of old while we have the boring French clot managing the club. Wenger ‘ s statement ,that TA touched on, that he would not have anything to do if he retires from football shows what a very shallow dullard Wenger the arrogant control freak really is. No wonder his wife left him and she has said that she found him rather sinister and frightening. I can well believe it.

  3. rico says:

It’s all opinion though Jeff. Who knows what might happen should we lose Ozil and Sanchez next month and drop further down the table. At some stage the board has to act..

  4. jeff wright says:

Rico,Wenger’s future is down to Syrupy the mock-board who in reality are just hand-puppets employed by Kroenke wanted shut of Arsene last season but Syrupy overruled them .If the price is right for the two glums Syrupy will not be so bothered it’s not as if that non-dynamic due are actually pulling up trees at AFC . I still reckon that Wenger’s fate hangs on him securing 4th place .The only thing that concerns Stan is money !

    Morning all.

I dont know why but I have a sneaky feeling Jeff doesn`t like Arsene !
    😆

By all accounts a good effort last night considering the lack of inventive/creative players, cant remember the last time we played with a team full of what`s the word……dullness……….hod carriers?……………..not even any proper wingers, yet we won !……………………WHAM must be bad if they couldn`t beat that lot !

Seems my recent comment about Arteta being the next manager has gained momentum, at least two other people have blogged about it !
    🙂

Cheap way of getting Pep`s secrets and playing CFG………although money could be the obstacle in buying the top talent needed to execute such a playing style or could we/Mikel get any hod carriers to play such a side ?………………..is it mostly down to players or the style/tactics ?…………………..basically could Pep even get our dross(excluding the few world class quality we have)to play Pepball ?

  6. rico says:

I’m not so sure Jeff. I think Wenger chooses when Wenger goes. Empty seats will concern the board though as will no top four for another season and I honestly can’t see us getting into the top four.

  7. Le Coq Monster says:

With all our rivals in CL, this should have been the season to win the EPL let alone get into the top 4 !………………………….it is however a good measure of how far we or should I say Wenger has fallen if we dont make top 4……terrible tactics and even more terrible…….. player buying ( or lack of it) over the last 10 years……….always two players short…….yes the old cliche…………….mind you when we only bought Cech it was more than 2 players short !

    🙂

  8. Le Coq Monster says:

Rosicky has retired from football……………………………is there anyone who didn`t love him ?………………………..scored some crackers against the Spuds and I loved his frenetic/busy/pressing style………………..god we`ve had some talented casualties !

    Morning all
A huge cost in first team injuries after the less than convincing win last night.

Both Giroud and Coqelin suffered hamstring injuries, so no date for return as yet but by all accounts a number of weeks.
I can’t read into Giroud’s mind but until he pulled his hamstring he was literally a spectator yet it is reported he wants a move in January to ensure a place in the French WC squad. His body language appeared to show he wasn’t that interested in the game,so add him to another of disenchanted players at the moment.

Coqelin has his uses but again is just a squad player.

Kolasinac shouldn’t have played as we need him for Friday.

Quite a number of the kids look really useful, hopefully that progress will be maintained and if we don’t buy or offload in January, they may get more game time than originally expected

Danny is an expert in using his shins to score from a yard out,he will never be a top striker who scores regularly..

Plenty of headaches for the manager just looking ahead to Friday, having lost 3 players to hamstring injuries in 10 days

This opens the door for Jack to negotiate even harder if he really wants to stay or if Wenger actually wants him to stay..

IMO opinion more than ever Wenger has to concentrate on one or two competitions only.We haven’t got the squad in depth or quality to concentrate on more.

Have to mention Walcott.Time and time again he flatters to deceive and should have been sold years ago. What future has he with us if any and who would buy him.?.

I think the majority agree about AW, but many don’t realise the magnitude of the problems at the club which we have discussed time and time again and practically all can see.It will take years to put right .The only glimmer of hope short term is a younger manager with new ideas and perhaps a proportion of the average players will lift their game and others just have to go.Ruthless comes to mind not toothless.

Finally i have changrd my mind about Sanchez. He needs to go ASAP preferably abroad in January or do a pre contract with City (if they want him) to join them at the end of May. I think he is creating unrest more than anyone in the dressing room.

  10. kelsey says:

Pep would never join uss in all probability will stay at City for quite a while.City have got round the rules by sponsoring the stadium and shirts with Etihad which they own, so can literally pour as much money into the club as they want.

Thanks for killing football,The Mansour family and thabk kroenke and his inept Board for leaving our great club with just memories.

  11. allezkev says:

If Lacazette aggravates his leg injury vs Liverpool, then we are into the realms of Welbeck and Walcott leading the attack, so I’m not sure I’d sell Alexis tbh with you, not now, it’s too late unless the club get an offer in the £30/£40m bracket, unlikely I know, but otherwise I’d keep him.

We don’t actually know if he’s a disruptive influence in the dressing room do we?
He just seems like he always is, still gives 100% each game it’s just the goals have dried up, but they’ve dried up across the team not just him.

  12. Le Coq Monster says:

Pep is on £15+M per year at CFG, nearly twice as much as Wenger……………….CFG family worth £1B !………………..what chance have we got ?………………….what chance anyone got ?………………………..yes they will have a season or so when they dont win a title, but they will reign supreme I have no doubt.

I`m just waiting for the ultimate loop hole when they get someone in the £500+M range and get around it by say Melbourne City buying him and then loaningh him to ManC for nothing !……………………………..CFG world domination is real and happening and the only upside is that the Mansours didn`t but Tottnumb !……………………Abramovich was going to buy the spuds but changed his mind as he flew over Stamford Bridge !…………………..that`s not to say someone wont buy the Spuds somewhere down the line as their owners are fans and probably sell to someone if it meant they made a tidy profit and it made Spuds a bigger club,…………………….unlike Kroenke who is not a fan and is a stubborn git who will not sell to help Arsenal go forward !.

    🙁

  13. allezkev says:

Also, I did hear that Coquelin came off with cramp, not a hamstring, but I’ll guess we’ll know for sure tomorrow after scans. He was fouled quite heavily by Carroll, it was actually the first thing that Carroll did when he came on, but then as footballers go Carroll is quite thick.
Anyway Coquelin could have been suffering from a combination of issues when he came off.

  14. Le Coq Monster says:

Dont worry Kev !…………………we can unleash Eddie !!……………………………or Akpom !

    🙂

  15. kelsey says:

I really can’t believe that rico.He would make so many financial demands and again if true does Wenger control his own destiny.Yes, I know he does, that’s the main problem.
If Liverpool don’t finish top 4 IMO Klopp is out.Conte will leave as he is on a two year contract and so the demand for top class managers will heighten up.We aren’t considered an attractive proposition anymore, that’s the reality.

  16. allezkev says:

    LC,
Akpom warmed up initially in the 1st 45, but spent most of the rest of the game on the bench.
When Giroud came off he could have gone on then, but he is behind Nelson and now Nketiah – who looked really disappointed when DaSilva came on as our last sub.

I can’t see Chuba having any kind of a future at Arsenal, in fact it wouldn’t surprise me to see him loaned out in January unless we have some more injury issues.

  17. allezkev says:

Kelsey, the club won’t sack Wenger, the Board and Kroenke have too much respect for him, but I also heard that Pep wanted the Arsenal job, I mean live in London or Manchester, it’s not a difficult decision is it?

  18. rico says:

I disagree there Kelsey, I reckon any top manager would love to manage us and would jump at the chance to do so…

We are a sleeping giant right now, all it needs is for Wenger to walk away in May.. imo of course…

  19. Alex says:

    Hello Rico and every1

These injuries that come at December …….?????
Raise more questions the attitude of the players and the manager.

Is There any one can be missed badly ?

Giroud …..? Yes just his head and a bit of hs body strentgh.

Coq….????? Whaaaaat is he doing in Arsenal shirt.

The entire team is already mentally shut.
Apart the Manure game i hae not see any thing to mention positive about the squad.

  20. Alex says:

    @Kelsey
I tend to believe the Guardiola rumor not because has come from that Morgan but :

Pep first season observed genuinely and acted accordingly.

Pep he did not go on buying fancy names like Pogba or Ibrahimovich or Lukaku.

    He brought the likes of
    Jesus
    Da Silva

Basically Pep in most probability have seen the Arsenal squad and thought could do with some addition.
Specially when he see Le Prof spanking 70Mil. For the likes of Xaka and Mustafy.

To me is not far fetched idea that Pep would be tempted to manage us.
That will be absolutely true with Moaninho

  21. Adam says:

Evening Rico. As I mentioned to you a couple of years ago and before Pep went to Man City, he fancied the Arsenal job. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available.

  22. Le Coq Monster says:

    Evening all.
If MU and Chavs win tonight we will see the EPL`s four richest/wealthiest clubs in the semi`s !……………………last season had the strongest FA Cup semi`s ever, are we seeing a monopoly from the big clubs………..dont mention Leicester !……………..although it is still the Big 3 which will dominate the EPL untill someone really mega rich buys another club and then puts us in 5th place in the wealth league !
Have no evidence apart from my fear that it will happen, but Spuds with new stadium could be a prime takeover posibility !………………..Kroenke selling to Uzzy and buying Spuds would be nice !

  23. kelsey says:

Extensive mouse droppings at The Emirates found by Islington Council on inspection last year and the club have now improved the hygiene.Just announced on the local news.(this is true)

  24. Adam says:

I heard the Enrique stuff a while ago Kelsey and like you, I can see that after the two new major appointments, especially Sannileh, it’s not a great leap to imagine he would be Luis Enrique’s choice for that position. If the club are restructuring from within then perhaps Wenger is off. He’s hardly doing enough to justify his new contract so far this season is he? Isn’t it just more of the same with contract problems thrown in?

  25. Le Coq Monster says:

I advise to go to Em`s armed with baps !……………..Mouse Burger or a Hotmouse……..they almost certainly come with cheese !……………………………………….I`ve seen them running along the touchline getting warmed up, many are better finishers than Danny !

  26. potter says:

Slight difference inugh Kev. ……………..Wrote a very large missive yesterday on the whole situetion which seems to have disappeared into the ether.. Tried to repeat it but it’s never the same second time round so I will leave it until after Klopp has wound up the Ox fitted some new Duracells and got him sent off on Friday.

  27. gnarleygeorge9 says:

There will come a time when Arsene Wenger is no longer in charge of The Arsenal. And when that time comes, the question is, how far behind the pack will the Club be?
