Arsene Wenger makes big statement about Stan Kroenke & Blames the fans for failings…

Morning all.

We lost the championship at home against the lower teams, but we played at home in a very difficult climate.

We have to realise that, away from home, we are championship winners. At home, against the smaller teams, we lost the league.

This club does have special values though and one I’ve experienced over the years is to stick together and support the team. There’s no success without that.

Perhaps half the problem lies within the comment above as there isn’t really a ‘smaller club’ in this league and as many fans have said over the years, every opponent should be taken very seriously, regardless of their history and league position. I’ll put my hands up and say I’m guilty of suggesting Arsenal should be beating many if not nearly all of the clubs in this league, certainly at The Emirates but even on the road, results should have been a lot better despite the manager suggesting that ‘away from home we are championship winners’. Does he not realise that both Leicester and Tottenham have a better away record this season? Clearly not.

The Emirates has a ‘difficult climate’ he says which to be fair, is right and it’s widely expected to be worse during tomorrow nights fixture against Norwich.

The atmosphere at home is a bit like the chicken v egg and which came first. If the team plays well, the fans are happy but the problem right now is that the fans are feeding off the last few years and not just this season. The leaking of a late equaliser is anticipated, no, expected and these days, not even a 2-0 winning position at half-time is enough to convince us that the game is going to be won. Arsene Wenger’s tactics or lack of them no longer fill fans with confidence. His substitutions are either odd or too late and seldom does he change things or players when all is not going well.

As said the other day, it’s not the players fault, not really, although a bit more effort could be put in by a few but half the time they look lost and out of ideas, a bit like Arsene Wenger really.

But, Arsenal need three points tomorrow and I hope the The Emirates crowd can get behind the team and see them through because regardless of what happens in the summer with the manager or transfers, the club need to be in the Champions League.

One last thing from the manager:

Our attitude has been impeccable from day one this season. We want to fight together until the end.

This team has character and a good attitude. Some people question that, but they shouldn’t.

Speaks volumes doesn’t it? Nothing at Arsenal should be questioned. Not the manager, the players or Gunnersaurus.

And there’s lies the problem……

Actually, there’s one more thing from Arsene and that’s to do with the Stan Kroenke:

He has never stopped me in the transfer market, He is very ambitious, we all are.

That blows the ‘Stan being tight’ theory right out of the water doesn’t it……

  1. Marshall says:

He’s never to blame is he? The nutjob can’t count anymore…Taking swipes at players he probably coached, everything is personal to him.

Long live the day he walks out.

  2. Uwot? says:

The wenger loyalists/apologists defend him with the ” miracle” of no money due to kronke.well,he’s just put that myth to bed.it’s wenger & wenger alone mismanagement.call the taxi…..

  3. Steven says:

What do we all feel about Stan if Wenger is saying that? horses mouth so really can’t argue that point anymore. I think when Wenger retires and his book is out you’ll see exactly how hard its been for him at our club and the restrictions he’s been under and I really do believe he’s tried to sign a load of top players who haven’t wanted to come to our because someone else will pay them more money and Wenger won’t overpay anyone and if I was running my business neither would I (these are the values and revenue he talks about) and regardless of what we think or say in football your employed by a business or a brand to that point, if you work for Pepsi for 200k a year and Coca Cola offer you 300k a year what would you do? no brainer really doesn’t make it right but still and Rico you’re spot on great writing.

disappointing to finish the season empty handed but Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, City, Liverpool & UTD have all under achieved this season would you really swap our squad for any of theirs, what gives us the right to be top of the table every year? when the above are fighting for the same title can we attract big players then the above besides Spurs maybe Liverpool (still have a huge world fan base bigger then ours) we’re 4th on the list of who the top players want to sign for and we normally finish 4th it’s time we appreciate the club, what Wenger has done and let him leave at his own accord he deserves that because without Wenger I believe we’d still be messing about in the top half. Henry was used to winning with Arsenal but did nothing until he come to our club, it’s time we as club accept that we’re not the biggest club in the league and lose that arrogant persona that we are, we have the classiest club in the league which is recognized in world football as the best run club in every way but we have the shittest fans sitting our their high horse crying about every misplaced pass its an absolute joke and we’ve destroyed some players over the years, Wenger gets the blame for destroying players but he works miracles and it’s no shock that away from home our performance is much better and the players look at ease….

Think Dortmund (every team in Germany tbh), Think Leicester, Think Stoke, Think Sunderland every week these fans regardless of their position get behind the team our fans can’t wait to create drama and uncertainty – looking forward to all these pricks who think protesting is the right thing to do get rid of your season ticket so people like me who’s been on the list for years can have and start to get some positivity into our stadium.

  4. rico says:

I bet someone at the club reads all the blogs Andrew, trouble is, he’d take little notice of what the fans think, he’s too stubborn…

Marshall, fingers crossed that day isn’t too far away..

  5. rico says:

I get what you are saying about other clubs paying more Steven and players want the most they can get these days and yes, during the stadium move there’s no doubt funds were tight for AW.

But now he’s had funds in the bank, he’s saying Kroenke never holds him back so where’s his excuse for last summer and again in January when injuries were costing us?

I’m not a fan of the protest and even if I was a ST holder, and I wanted AW out as I do, not sure I’d want to be holding any banner up but I can understand the fans frustration, I really can but any action during a game will just lump more pressure on the players who already look low in confidence.

I hope AW walks away in the summer because next season, if things don’t change, it’ll get worse inside the stadium…

  6. Steven says:

He’s admitted to his failures this season (we don’t know who has he has tried to sign and that’s my point) Dortmund lad said he doesn’t want to leave to come to Arsenal in Jan that didn’t come from anywhere it’s a known fact Wenger wanted to sign him(bring back David Dein) Benzema as well said he didn’t wanna come that’s because we aren’t the biggest club in the league Wengers fault? not imo and maybe it is time for him to walk away and I think he will do that end of his contract I feel we owe him that. A new stadium & training complex (his vision) he’s put us on the map and deserves to respectfully leave the club and will when his contract ends. Sad state of affairs as Arsenal fans will be fighting amongst themselves on Saturday night crippling the players…. on another note I’ve got a feeling Theo will leave and turn into a world beater working for Pep

  7. tsgh says:

    Afternoon Rico and all,

AW doing what he does best these days… talking b****x. He is long in the teeth to know sometimes its better to be quiet…

I wish I had the balls to put a bit more on Ranieri winning the league in September…

At least the sperds missed their only chance in 50 years to win the title so, a consolidation at least…

  8. Mohamad Hamza says:

Yes, exactly, we are the reason you have failed to win against Monaco, Olympiacos and Chelsea, I’m responsible for all of this. Coz we have trusted you more than we should have

  9. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Rico

It doesn’t matter what Arsene says, or how he packages it up, spins it, it’s all BS…

    He knows he’s fcuked up…

Blame the fans if you want Arsene, nobody believes you, it’s all excuses…

  10. Gd10 says:

    I apologise Rico.

So many places are deliberately twisting what Wenger says that I jumped the gun and thought you were doing it to further the Wenger out agenda. Seems it was the mirror that was leaving bits out to get a reaction.

Wenger has to go, no doubt. I just think there’s a right way to go about it and revising his words isn’t a good way to do it (aimed at the mirror and other journo hacks, not at you Rico).

  11. goonster says:

This guy is unbelievable. Blaming the fans for endless passes and no shooting. Elneny came out yesterday and confirmed all our suspicions. Wenger had completely ruined players. Tell me how you expect a player to give his absolute best when you place inhibitions on him. Time to go.

  12. goonster says:

Can you believe the arrogance of this Frenchman? See how he threw all those wimpy ex players under the bus?? That serves them all right. Keown Romford pele wrighty should all be ashamed of themselves. What a nutjob. Morning good people. Men wenger is enough to give a brother coronary.

  13. goonster says:

Am not piers Morgan’s biggest fan but he’s been spot on for a while now. I swear if the board hands wenger a new contract. They ll be hell in the stands. It won’t end well. It ll get bloody. Stand down now. Man alive am so angry.

  14. rico says:

Gd10, agree that the newspapers do like to stir the pot but AW should do what Rafa did years ago and talk only about Arsenal and taking a swipe at the fans in any fashion is not a good thing as it won’t help his cause….

  15. goonster says:

Steven am sorry man but what??? We owe him?? Dude we owe that French fraudster nothing. You forget he earns 8million pounds a year! Owe hiking he says. We haven’t won the championship in 12 haven’t gone beyond the second round of the champions League in 6 and you say we owe him?? We owe him alright. We owe him some serious tomato and egg pasting.

  16. rico says:

And that is just why some of us portion blame on the owner and board Goonster because it’s highly likely they will give him a new contract and when they do, perhaps you’ll get what has been said recently…

  17. goonster says:

Rico he won’t accept it. He dare not. At 66 he’s done. What else can he offer?? Football is a young man’s game. The old wrinkled gnarled poxy French turncoat should bugger off. We need a young hand in charge.

  18. goonster says:

He’s just a few years from 70!! What else can he offer?? 2 champions league semi final and a final for more than 30 years. Nah he’s done Rico. If you think it’s bad now wait till next season.

  19. goonster says:

Rico he ll stay for his last year. I want him to. Not because he deserves it but the devil inside of me would love to see him humiliated by poch conte pep maureen and klopp. His press conferences ll be a treat 😀

  20. rico says:

I really don’t understand why you’d want that for him, beggars belief… The best thing imo is get 3rd and then walk away in the summer..

  21. goonster says:

Rico the owner and the board all have eyes and they can read fans discontent. They won’t be stupid to renew his contract. The stadium ll be a ghost town if they do. If you think attendance is low now wait for next season especially after a bad start. Lol

  22. Lee says:

Wenger has spent £500m in the last 3yrs in wages and transfers, hardly the sign of a tight owner.

He should just bin Wenger that’s his downfall but to say he’s tight is total fucking bollocks!

  23. goonster says:

Well we both know he honors his “contract” so he won’t leave. I for one won’t begrudge him but I ll love for him to be thonked continuously all season long. Lol he won’t go at the end of this season rico. He wont. I guarantee that.

  24. goonster says:

Howdy brudder Lee 😀 you re positively pissed this morning I can tell. Lol Lee rantings is one the highlights on HH 😀 I love reading them.

  25. goonster says:

Lol Rico are you censoring me??? Those aren’t my words 😀 I just read all my posts and I see some alteration. Lol

  26. goonster says:

Lol Lee that’s not possible. You re arsenal through and through. You re an Islington chap. Arsenal runs through your blood. If we the foreign fans can’t sever ties with arsenal imagine how hard it ll be for you locals. You ll be here next season still ranting mate. Lol its what you are. You can’t change it.

  27. Lee says:

Stan I fucking won’t, Wenger has sucked all my Arsenal enthusiasm.

He should of pissed the PL this season, instead we’re getting schooled by Leicester & the spuds, how fucking embarrassing?

  28. goonster says:

Lee you ll be here next season lol. I ll remind you of this post. We can’t leave. A Leopard don’t change its spots. Through it all we gooners first and last.

  29. goonster says:

After the Birmingham debacle at the Millennium stadium I vowed to stay away from all things arsenal but 2 weeks later I was back yelling and cursing at the TV Again. You can’t stop loving this club lee. Like they always say “once a gooner…always a gooner. Plus Rico needs you here. I don’t lol

  30. goonster says:

Well you can’t I ll be devastated. What you don’t understand is for more than 5 years now you guys have been a huge part of my life. I might not comment everyday but I do read. Plus what ll I do if you close shop and leave? Cassie is gone. Brianna is still a toddler and I have no semblance of life here. I ll sooner hang myself. You re my family. Everyone here. We might disagree on a lot but you guys are some of my favorite people!!

  31. goonster says:

So just hang in there for the goonster. You might actually be the reason he’s still hanging around. Leave and it’s kaput for him 😀

  32. goonster says:

So please don’t leave. Wenger is the reason comment are low on the blogosphere. Once that fraud leaves it ll pick up again. A lot of fans have apathy lately and I don’t blame them. 12 years no title, the footie not so entertaining anymore. Remember the 2007/2008 team?? Man alive we didn’t win a trophy but we played some of the best football football has ever witnessed. Go watch the highlights of Milan vs Arsenal at the San siro. We totally bossed them. Flamini cesc hleb and rosciky were on fire. Add a fit diaby adebayo and van persie and we have a cracking team. We didn’t win but we always showed up because the football was sublime.

  33. goonster says:

Fast forward a few years later and we passing sideways, lacking a killer instinct. Don’t have a world class center forward et al. So I don’t blame you or any other fan for feeling numb towards the arsenal. Which is why this old prick must leave. He’s killing our collective arsenal spirits. WENGER OUT NOW!!!!

  34. goonster says:

Hiya kev didn’t see you there. Grab mick and go visit lee. He’s thinking about joining colchester united. Lol please slap some senses into him. Stop by at adam’s and pick him up too. We need a wordsmith to help convince the bugger not to quit on us 😀

  35. Gd10 says:

Totally agree Rico. He shouldn’t be lashing out at the fans in any way.

But I believe that was taken out of context by the bit part reporting of it.

Its not like he said the fans are directly to blame. He’s saying that its a difficult atmosphere at home, which to be fair it is.
It’s a fan reaction due to his wrongdoings over years which he seems to not be able to acknowledge though.

I dunno, I’m getting lost here, I just wish the whole transcript and not choice quotes which can be twisted to fit a narrative would be reported by our press.

Then I wish that billions of pounds would drop into my lap. That’s not going to happen either lol.

  36. potter says:

The comments make me feel that he has just realised that there is fan unrest . Everything that he says concentrates on the here and now without accepting that there has been a gradual decline over the last few years. Whilst it is true that the atmosphere at home is worse than away there are many reasons for it. The clock end at Highbury and the north bank made the noise and that accounted for less than one third of the crowd. The East stand had a few in the lower but the upper and the West stand were like God’s waiting room..Those supporters are spread throughout the stadium and a lot in fact most of the new fans are there to be entertained and only get involved when the team lifts them . they are not of the mind set to lift the team and then there are the ones that see it as a west end show and are there because they see it as part of London ‘s entertainment package.

  37. malaga gooner says:

    evening rico and the house

so wenger finally admits the transfer policy is down to him

i hope the protests tomorrow will finally make the club sit up and listen

    he doesn’t deserve another season

    its time for change

  38. Micko says:

Howdy all, Arsene’s comments only confirm what we already know, he suffers from Kangeroo’s Syndrome, small arms and deep pockets !

  39. Obi says:

So let me get this right; Ozil said the exact same thing 2 weeks ago – about losing to the lower teams cost us the title. Wenger was upset about him saying that but 2 weeks later he says the same thing. Maybe Wenger is further gone than we think. Just leave already.

  40. rico says:

Who hasn’t said losing to the lower teams have cost us Obi? Still, good to know he’s caught up..

Mind you, would have been nice to beat a rubbish Chelsea and Utd side this season away from home….

  41. Obi says:

Good interview with Kroenke at the NFL draft last night…. basically about supporting his Coaches’ and General Manager’s decisions, and his expectations of how his players should behave.

  42. frednerk says:

What are your supporters going on about
Arsene is only asking for a bit of help
Please can we for once start acting like
Liverpool supporters and get behind the team.
The way you lot carryon anyone would think its Arsenes fault.

When was the last time you saw Arsene get off his seat
and have a go at the players or incite the crowd to get behind the team
you wont see Arsene running up the touchline punching the air, gritting his teeth
and snarling at the oppersite bench.
So be very careful what you wish for Gooners.

  43. allezkev says:

Mick, you’ll be delighted to know, that I shall be at the Norwich game, singing as if my life depended on it, to help drive the lads forward with an enthusiastic rendition of ‘Anchors A’weigh’…

Up the Gunners, Up the Gunners, Goal…

Failing that, I’ll get my Time for a Change banner out…

  44. potter says:

Kev we could always drink together as the song went. Very apt song for the present time.
There’s a team the Arsenal the greatest of them all
We will always support them whether they rise or fall
And we’ll drink drink together for the sake of the Arsenal and we’ll drink drink together for the sake of the Arsenal.

  45. allezkev says:

Potter, I will be with my son, North Bank,
Lower Tier, we have a couple at half-time, if you are nearby, text me and join me for one (or two or even three)…

  46. allezkev says:

Potter, we are in the singing section, just in front of where the relatives sit, and we’re in block 6…

We go to the bar closest to block 6, so if you’re thirsty at half-time, text me…
Rico has my phone number, she’ll pass it on if you text her…
    Hope to see you mate…

  47. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. It’s all getting a bit rabid isn’t it? I thought Wenger did OK during that press conference and he is right when he says that the atmosphere in the stadium has been ‘difficult’ for the team.
I believe he should leave but I have no personal animosity towards him and I am not going to boo the team or him during the game.

  48. potter says:

There’s the rub any protest during the match itself has a detrimental affect on the players , however before and after it’s up for grabs as they say. However this is typical Wenger now deflecting the criticism away from himself yet again. It’s not the players and it seems the board either, the buck stops with him and he needs to face up to the fact that many of his customers are not happy with what they are seeing and the rest that make up his audience don’t really care.

  49. Adam says:

Hi Rico. From yesterday: yes, we did have lunch there and it was excellent. Freezing cold wandering through Soho afterwards though. 🙂

  50. rico says:

I always love looking at their menu Adam… Glad you have a good time.. Yesterday was awfully cold, we had hail stones in the afternoon, lots of them…

  51. Adam says:

Rico. After lunch we made detours to Hotel De Chocolat and the best and oldest patisserie in Soho, Maison Bertaux where Kev ate the best slice of pizza he has ever had.
And they say an Arsenal season ticket is expensive. 🙂

  52. allezkev says:

Yes, the pizza was truely memorable, it took me a week to get over it… ?

    Morning Adam
    Morning Rico, Potter and All

  53. allezkev says:

Hotel De Chocolate is a great place to visit Rico, if you enjoy that treat…

It would be great to see Santi back on the field of play today.
Hopefully Arsene will start Welbeck up front…
I wonder if Iwobi will be left out?

  54. Mike sad Gooner says:

The 7/8 million £s per year salary had nothing to do with Wengers “loyalty” that meant that the banks would keep investing in the new stadium! Bolleaux! None of the other clubs that he claims were offering him the managers job would have allowed him season after season with no title…..City, Barca, Real…..he’s become an arrogant fantasist with the ego that comes with narcissism……enough, au revoir! No adieu!
