Morning all,
The Daily Mail clearly believe they have the right to publish such poppycock as below.
What they suggest is that half of Arsenal fans want Arsene Wenger to leave if he fails to deliver top four AND the FA Cup
This is their little table of voting statistics……
Should Arsenal win the FA Cup and finish in the top 4
Stay as manager, on a 2-3 year contract | 59% |
Stay as manager, but on a rolling 1 year contract basis | 9% |
Leave his managerial post | 32% |
Should Arsenal fail to win the FA Cup, but finish in the top 4
Stay as manager, on a 2-3 year contract | 47% |
Stay as manager, but on a rolling 1 year contract basis | 14% |
Leave his managerial post | 39% |
Should Arsenal win the FA Cup, but finish outside of the top 4
Stay as manager, on a 2-3 year contract | 40% |
Stay as manager, but on a rolling 1 year contract basis | 16% |
Leave his managerial post | 44% |
Should Arsenal fail to win the FA Cup, and finish outside of the top 4
Stay as manager, on a 2-3 year contract | 31% |
Stay as manager, but on a rolling 1 year contract basis | 23% |
Leave his managerial post | 46% |
So, did you vote? I know I didn’t so how can an article like this one in The Daily Mail be taken with any seriousness?
Where do they get they figures from?
And doesn’t it just about sum up how easy it is to make mischief and stir things up at any one given club, and boy don’t they like doing just that when it comes to ours…
Anyway, six matches left to make sure we secure a Champions League spot, and at least third is still possible. Tomorrows fixture is huge for that very reason alone as Everton are just a few points behind us.
Arsene Wenger has admitted he’s feeling under a bit of pressure:
Financially, the pressure is less. On a sporting side it is greater because we have been the leader of the league this season so not to make it… the pressure is bigger.
We want to be in there, but it’s down to our results in our last six games to make sure that happens.
Since we built the stadium, it has always been the obsession. I got that reproached enough.
It was an obsession because of the financial compulsory situation. I’ve always been guided by – no matter what what happens – get in the Champions League.
But for me it’s not financial – it was before. What it is now is to play against the best: Pride and prestige.
That statement from Arsene kind of hints that this summer really could be the summer that we as a club, spend bigger and better. The financial restraints have clearly been lifted from what’s he said and now the focus is on winning things other than the 4th place trophy.
Arsene Wenger has reportedly told Kroenke and the board that he wants total control of all transfers both in and out of the club. Well if that’s because he’s finally ready to go back in time and be as successful in the transfer window as he was during the time when he made signings like Overmars, Petit, Vieira, Campbell, Henry etc etc, then it has to be only a good thing.
If he is and he does, then he’d get my vote!!
Not that The Daily Mail would bother asking for it…..
COYRRG’s….
Morning rico, good post. I heard that survey on the radio yesterday. What is missing and what is so important to me is AW’s transfer dealings. I give 5/10 for last August and 1/10 for January. Pathetic performance in January considering Giroud was exhausted (or just not good enough to be number 1 striker) and lack of pace due to Walcott’s injury so badly needed action.
Wenger likes to make out he leaves transfer business late so as to cater for any surprises. Walcott I think got injured on 4th January leaving 27 days to realise that we would miss his speed and runs past the last defender giving us an important outlet, and a great chance for Ozil through balls. He managed one LOAN!
Morning Ah and thanks.
Totally agree re the summer and January, I wouldn’t even give him a 1 for January, even the guy he did sign was injured…
I was being generous and excluding 0 from my scale 😉
🙂 Ah..
I think he leaves it late to save on wages but then it all backfires as he ends up with nothing.
Either that or he just didn’t plan to sign anyone…
Has to change this summer if he’s staying…
There was no money left in last years budget , the club over paid for Ozil and that took up the spare cash allowance . Personally I am not sure that Wenger was the driving force behind the Ozil purchase and that is why he is insisting on having control of the budget from now on.
AW will never be in such a good a position again as he was in Jan. Our squad lacked in vital areas, but we were in an amazing position. I think everyone here knew it would not last with such a Striker deficit compared with Man City. Chelsea were moaning a lack of striking power and still had eto’o, ba, torres, Cant forgive AW for that, especially the way he waited till last day to get anything rolling. Even in August it was last day before anything happened. Planning needed but he is always too rapped up in next game….. apparently.
Morning Rico and all.
AH. 1/10 for January?
The transfer window dealings have been appalling as have the injuries but, within that pair of disasters lay both the excuses and the promise of salvation.
The money we all know we have (well, most of us anyway) offers the tantalising possibility year in, year out, that Wenger will go ‘big’ and fill those gaping holes with quality. We will all go through the same anguish this Summer no doubt – and listen to the same rhetoric as to why it is all so impossible for Arsenal.
Then again, the injuries offer an excuse and a ready-made way out. “What if all those player hadn’t been injured?” Would we have won the league with Theo, Ramsay etc..playing through the season? We were just unlucky weren’t we?
We all know that we are going to be plagued with injuries to big players next season, the season after that and so on, therefore we need a squad with greater quality in depth and this should even bring about a more competitive attitude. Everything that is wrong is writ large. I hope Arsene can read it clearly enough this time.
Ozil was a surprise wasn’t he? Benzama was needed.
Adam, let Wenger know will you that we will suffer injuries next year!
It would enlighten him. He’s so clever, we are always told, but some things escape him.
Figures get bandied about and assumptions made which become folk lore after a while. But if you look at the logic , we went after Suarez and bid £40 million and failed and then got Ozil for about the same amount. I would not be surprised if that was the ceiling allowed by the board for transfer spend. Remember our board is not known for being profligate with money , they set the figure and Wenger has to work within it. Our board is about money not success and they won’t spend more than they have to in their quest for financial return.
You could be right there potter, certainly makes sense..
good morning
Daily Mail didn’t ask me!
Morning Adam.
Lee asked the question on the last post, where would we be had Ramsey, Theo, Diaby, Ozil etc etc had stayed fit all season. My own thought is probably top, if not second.
Every club suffers injuries, what annoys me is how long ours take to recover, and the fact that our squad is so limp, we don’t have the players to step in and take over.
Which in itself is a problem because had we more depth, players wouldn’t have to play each and every week, they could have the rest their bodies need, especially at Christmas….
And wasn’t it the turn of the year which saw Ramsey, Ozil and Theo suffer?
Ozil and Benzema, or Ozil and ‘any’ pacey ruthless striker…
Morning JM, I suspect you and I are two of thousands who weren’t asked…
Potter. You seem to be ignoring the transfer-defining speech made by Gazidis at the opening of the transfer window when he spoke so eloquently about the finances and the feasibility of affording Rooney. 🙂 Asked about £250,000 a week he said that, yes, the club do do that and more.
My own feeling is that we must spend what we need and if that means more than Kroenke would like, then so be it. Putting a ceiling figure into the equation is misleading. Buy to achieve quality and not the price. Perhaps Wenger is holding the possibility of leaving out to Stan as a method of leverage. I doubt it though.
If he outs Giroud and buys two £30 million strikers, that would be a great start.
Whatever, the club must equip the squad at whatever the cost. If the fans see the ambition they will lift the team to a trophy. If we go through the same old bollocks, well we’ve read the ending of that book many times.
Gazidis is not to be trusted and yes he said we had money and yes we spent it on Ozil, No doubt he was correct in saying that we could do it , nowhere did he say we would.
Rico. That’s my point.
I remember when we discussed on here in the summer the players that could improve us. I would make a suggestion and others would say, but we have X in that position, so where would he play? My point is that there is a greater than 50% of X being injured so that’s why we need him.
The bigger question is whether Wenger would want to bring in more than 3 players. I doubt it.
Potter. None of them are to be trusted. They all say what is expedient at the time and every year we come up short.
Having watched the CL games this week I am aware that big money players are not always effective. I am sounding like Wenger now.
Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.
Adam sounding like Arsene? Wonders never cease. What’s next? Maybe Maureen Yo will invite Arsene out to dinner.
Great post Lady Rico…
Excellent point Potter at 10:24 am; do I trust IG… hell No…
IG’s job he says is to make the club money…. many may argue he has done his job by bringing in those sponsorship deals but I beg to differ imho…
I bet most of those deals came in 1 because of AW and also the fact that we make top 10 every year…
I would like us to win something this year but there is no way Puma will be sniffing around us if we had won the FA cup or CoC each year in the 9 or so barren years..
12:45 k.o tomorow… no worries our hoodoo only applies on saturday afternoon so lets have faith…
Morning HHers
I know Adam, I’m just agreeing…. 😉
I doubt AW would spend £60m on two strikers though…..
We actually spent in the region of £25M net last summer as PV and Nasri have always said is given to AW most summers…
Still AW’s kamikaze tactics on big occasions and negligence needs to be questioned by the masses imo…
Morning Cg/Ts
1.30 ko tomorrow I think Ts, not quite the hoodoo of the 12.45 😉
Rico – The Daily Fail didn’t ask me either.
They seem intent on stirring the pot in a tight race to the end of the season. They’ll do whatever is required to sell their rag. When all else fails and their journos have run out of lies/rumours/stories and their imaginations have run dry; run/invent a poll.
As for the Summer Transfer Window, this is Last Chance Saloon. The supporters have heard all the distortions, excuses and lies and now will only accept definite action. Time to open up the club’s wallet, shake out the moths and sign the players we all know the team needs.
Rico, in thinking we would be top, you ignore the fact that if all those players had been fit, it’s odds on Giroud would have been injured. Win the league with Bendtner and inexperienced Sanago as our sole Strikers?
Exactly Cg, that survey isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.
But he hasn’t been injured Ah – just hopeless at times 😉
Morning All.
Morning Toads.
Morning Rico, interesting post, with an agenda…
The Daily Fascist just loves putting the boot into Arsene Wenger…
Why not do a poll on why Tottenham haven’t won the league for 53 years.
And what about Everton or Aston Villa, surely they are also worth a poll…
Then those Media Darlings Liverpool.
Not won a league title since 1990!!!
That’s 23 years so far and no poll?!!!
What will they say if Brendan Rodgers fcuks up this season.
Surely Rodgers should go, if we use the Daily Fascist standards…
Same with Mourinho, if PSG finish off Gazprom and they fail to win the league, given the amounts invested in their squad, then the Portugese Prick should get his P45…
Likewise Pelligrini and so on, yawn…,
Typical Press bullshit manufactured and twisted to fit in with their own twisted agenda…
Arsenal will sign Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata as long as the two clubs can agree a buy-back clause (Mirror)
The Gunners will also hold talks with Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun, 19, who has been dubbed the new Lionel Messi (Express)
Morning Kev, thanks.
Me have an agenda? Surely not… 😉
Spot on the Liverpool, all they are doing is living off of a CL trophy under Rafa…
I truly hope they muck up this challenge for top spot, I really do…
Morning all,
My problem with injuries is exhaustion and Andrew’s right that we’re lucky Giroud lasted so long.
Other teams are able to trust their youngsters to fill in and perform a task. Wenger doesn’t trust ours and burns out our first teamers.
Man U, Everton and Liverpool are good at it and gives players that can’t quite make it the opportunity to be noticed and sold to smaller prem teams.
We give them for free or near to free when they turn 21 and no managers get to see them play.
Morning all,
Our only summer signing was Sanogo on a free.
Would we even have seen Ozil and Flamini if Villa hadn’t beaten us in our opener at the Emirates !
Who knows.
Kev, have you noticed how the Portuguese ego-bag is sucking up to Nasser recently? I think he knows he may have to find another gravy train and Psg are the easiest and only option often for him…
often=open…
bradster, suggests either there is a lack of quality in our Academy, or simply AW doesn’t trust them. My own thought is it’s the latter.
Jonker may just change that…
Micko, you are right, we’ll never know……
I think the scouts for the academy are good at spotting talent but the issue is the education given to them in order to get them ready to play the brand of football AW wants…
In most cases the players are either too small to make the jump and then get frustrated like Ozyakub, Norvdeit and possibly in future Ollson and Eisfield…
No Rico, you was just repeating the agenda of the rag, it wasn’t your agenda.
The Express this morning put a spin on Wenger’s comment about players taking substances not prescribed by the club and how those substances could affect their performances etc…,
The Express spins it into some kind of medicine to enhance sexual performance…
Wenger said nothing of the sort, by why let the truth get in the way of some journo bullshit…
Apparently red seaweed is very good for your sex-drive, so I have been told by an impeccable source…. 😀
Adam, a very good opportunity to watch Morgan against city in an hour or so…
Phew Kev 😉
They are all at it aren’t they, ‘spin’ I mean, not munching red seaweed…. lol
I like Morgan Ts, I know a club which he’d fit quite nicely into… lol
Ginge, nothing that Iberian Tosser does suprise’s me in the slightest…
Everything he does or says is engineered to benefit his career…
For all Wenger’s faults, he has stayed around, as much to build something.
He could have left many times, and for whatever reasons, he did not…
He is the antithesis of Mourinho and all that Prick stands for…
For all his expertise in failure, Wenger still enjoys a stellar standing in football, way above Mourinho, and the Prick hates him for it…
Morning all.
Transfer talk…..who needs it 🙂
TS. I shall try to catch it.
Bradster. Has Giroud lasted then? I thought that he blew out several months ago after his other exertions.
Well said Kev..
Morning Scott.
Nipping off to the shops, catch up in a bit….
Reverend Kev – Amen to your 11:16 am. Few, if any, of the press are objective and unbiased. If, God forbid, Liverfool win the league; Brenda will be proclaimed the new Messiah.
Scott – Good Morning. Back in Oz? How was your trip to the Home of Football?
ha ha Kev.. I would have to read your version of Jose’s biography; will definitely be a sunday times best seller…
Hi CG,
A long, draw out return trip and yes, finally home.
Still tired and not yet back on the sleep pattern of down under, but i shall get there.
Ginge – Would Kev’s book be fiction or non-fiction? Possibly fiction in the Horror section.
Well I’m off to see if Sotton can do a Crystal Palace on Abu Dhabi Citeh.
Catch you all later.
ha ha Cg maybe a mixed of both from a well informed Professional London Cabbie… Later
Yet another interesting Post, Rico.
Newspaper polls are notorious for their inaccuracy, and this one is no different.
What is to stop a Tottnum fan, or a Chelsea fan for voting and causing mischief, but there are also a lot of Arsenal fans who want him to leave too — the blogs are full of them when we lose.
I confess to being confused by the responsibility for transfer dealings.
Sometimes people are saying that we lose out on transfers because Wenger is too mean, or that he dithers, or that he leaves everything to the last minute.
Then I read that he is insisting that he himself should be wholly in charge of the transfers or he will not sign his contract, as he does not want anyone else to do it, which implies he is not solely responsible.
It would be nice to know just who is responsible, so we could all sing from the same song sheet. For myself I have formed the opinion that AW does dither over transfer decisions, but I have no evidence that this is so.
We need to know – so we can point the finger at the real culprit!! 🙂
Its amazing how even Navas is working hard off the ball but we make excuses for our better players when they do not help defensively…
well, Rodriguez is injury now but Southampton is very well in the game, albeith is 1-0 for City.
Imagine a CM of Aaron and Morgan…
Just lover Morgan and he should be playing in the red of North London…
Nasri you prick…!
CG/Ginge writing a post for here is enough mates…
Adam is the man you need to see about an ‘objective’ book on the Portugese Prick…
Apparently Giroud is a great advocate for seaweed…
Shocking officiating for City’s second…
Afternoon all…
Night Cg and Scott…
Thanks Hb..
Afternoon all, Nice one Rico.
Nobody asked me my view either but nobody listens anyway.
The poll surprised me somewhat as i would have expected most supporters have had enough of Wenger after all we haven’t won anything for 9 years have we.
Every day on blogs such as this, i got the impression that life after Wenger would be so much better. Premier league success in the first season FA cups Milk cup and at least a final in Champions league.
Many supporters are being faced with the fact that should our next 2 games be lost, we may not even get Champions league status , but after all most don’t think its that important.
Should Wenger win the FA cup and maybe the league i see the ratings are quite high for him to stay. but should he do that and still decide that he’s had enough i wouldn’t blame him at all.
Support is when your red and white through thick and thin, and when you look at what Wenger has had to put up with, as far as restraints and working on a shoe string, he would feel that he knows how Arsenal has been left. With 150 mill now available for the new man and really a blank canvas to work with, it looks like success in the first season.
Personally i would have voted for Wenger to stay for as long as he wants but i am always out voted.
How, r should I say why, has the Southampton manager not learned English yet….
Hi Sp and thanks, surely someone listens to your view? 😉
Interesting read :- http://www.thearsenalcollective.com/the-memory-bank/2014/4/5/the-day-i-took-on-the-arsenal-chairman.html

Mugie Adam….
Oh sorry. Yes. I just can’t watch that stuff any more Rico. It’s all too much for me these days.
Morning all.
App. 6 straight hours of sleep for the first time in a week….loving it.
Steve, there is a common theme in your posts of late…..that if playing the victim.
Mate, get over it.
Stop twlling us we do’t read your posts, or discard them.
Just write them, and they can stand on their own two feet.
Keep the faith!
It was for me too Adam, so so sad……
All quiet here so I’m off…
Night all….
Interesting piece on Untold Arsenal…
Seems that the Spuds might spend most season 2016-17 playing their games at MK Dons!
😆 😆 😆
Oh please, let it be so… 😛
Kev, I wouldn’t wish that on any football club, tottenham makes Peckham look like upper middle class, where-ever the environs end up moving to they’ll only succeed in embarrassing the locals…..Yiddo’s…..Yiddo’s.
Why would want that Kev?
How dare you advocate an improvement for them!
I am stunned.
🙂
Tumbleweed
You may laugh Mick, but a lot of Peckham is very up-market these days…
Granted, a lot of it isn’t, but you try buying a house or a flat around there.
It ain’t cheap mate believe me…
Too up-market for Tottenham that’s for sure…
Tottenham as a Borough, makes Kabul look salubrious…
Morning All btw
Scott, MK Dons mate, imagine the Spuds having to slap it up the M1 to Milton Keynes, concret cows and all, every home game…
They don’t want Wembley because they know they won’t fill it every game, well most of them, and the Dons stadium, following a revamp, with it’s then 32,000 is the optimum size for the Douds dwindling support….
How they think they’re gonna fill a 55,000 capacity New Slum is beyond me???
Morning Kev and all….
Peckham, a place for only fools and horses isn’t it? lol
Douds???
Spuds, although Douds suits them, whatever it means?
Where’s Adam when you need him…
Yes Rico, they all drive Robin Reliants
Morning Rico btw…
Actually there are some really very nice houses around Peckham, leading up to Peckham Rye, quite posh, I wouldn’t mind one of them…
OK, there’s a cuppa with my name in it, so lata…
Did you get my post Rico?
🙂 Kev…
Haven’t checked my mail, but will do now. Thanks…
New post up now….
Hi HHers, Rico and all.
what is the required IQ level for being a journo these days? My two year old son(the one who was born 1st May 2011- the last time Ramsey f***ed the Mancs) can come up with that crap and a national daily publishes it???? have mercy Lord.
waiting for the game today and really looking to see if Diaby comes out with an Afro, or a moustache like Bendy…. or any other surprise like a MOTM performance
We are on the new post Fatgun…
thanks Rico. cant wait to read that one..
