Arsene Wenger doesn’t understand Alexis, but who understands Arsene Wenger?

Morning all.

‘We did what we tried to do and went as far as we could. Even Manchester City moved out of it in the end. That tells you we had no chance to give him a contract. In 30 years of doing transfers you learn a lot about human beings.

I bet Arsene Wenger now wishes he’d not pulled the plug on the Sanchez to Man City deadline line day deal. I certainly wish he hadn’t that for sure but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Saying that, selling Sanchez back in the summer would have been the most sensible thing and I think many of us believed that at the time. 10-2 put pay to that. An early sale, an early quality replacement in the door and I think we’d have been reasonably ok with that. Now though! Not only has his imminent move caused disruption in our own changing room (Wenger’s words) but now it seems there’s a bit of mud slinging.

Arsene Wenger has repordly stayed that he doesn’t understand why any player would want to leave Arsenal as he accused Sanchez of moving to Utd purely for money reasons. He has a point re the latter. Mourinho? Come on, he’s the most boring footballing tactician and his teams play the kind of football Alexis Sanchez is not about. Not that I’m trying to suggest Arsene Wenger is any better of course.

Wenger has clearly not taken on board the real reason players leave Arsenal football club. Sure, I wouldn’t want to leave the club but that’s Bacar Arsenal are in my heart and soul but that’s not the case with many footballers, certainly not those who are born and bred on foreign land. They care about the game of course but for them, money invariably comes first, winning major trophies comes second. Ok, for a few it’s the other way around but clearly not for Sanchez otherwise he’d have stayed and waited for Pep.

As for the Frenchman not understanding why players would want to leave the club really sums him up. His head is in the sand because if the penny hasn’t dropped by now, it never will. The reason they leave is because of his frugal ways in the transfer window and his failure to build a strong squad around his key players. Robert Pires is quoted in the Mirror as saying Sanchez wanted to stay at Arsenal as he’s happy at the club but he, like RvP and others, he wanted the club to be competitive, not one which just drifts along winning the odd domestic cup here and there. He wants to be challenging for Champions League trophy, not just trying to get a top four spot to play in the competition.

Ashley Cole kicked things off imo, Thierry Henry followed and the rest is history. Right now it looks like Alexis Sanchez will be the last. All of our better players who have left have gone on to win something and many of them with an English club. Even Gael Clichy!

Not for one minute do I believe Arsenal should be throwing £400k at a player each week, I really don’t and apart from the elite, I don’t believe most footballers would expect to be paid such vast sums of money. But what they do want is to be part of a strong and competitive squad, an organised and disciplined squad and one which believes they can beat the best. Not one which often can’t beat the rest and that is the reason players move on. The reason we’re the latter falls firmly on the shoulders of Arsene Wenger. Yet he can’t see it!

As the rumours surrounding Aubameyang continue to gather pace, Arsene Wenger was asked about how he’ll fit all his players into the team. His alleged reply says it all:

“How do I fit them in?  I just play the good players. They can always play together. Today all the players we had on the pitch were attacking players. Iwobi, Ozil, Wilshere, Lacazette, Xhaka – they are all offensive players.”

Er, so where is our defensive midfielder then? Whose responsibility is it to protect the defence, to break up the oppositions attack in a way which Matic, Kante etc do?

Like I said, a strong and balanced squad is all players want to be part of and it’s what we the fans want to see but we don’t have one, we haven’t for a long time now..

That’s just one of a number of reasons why we’ll never win another major trophy under Arsene Wenger and why we’ll never keep our best players either.

I totally agree with you! Arsenal as a football club have no ambitions to be a Top Top Club. I have been crying out for years that you can’t fight for the league title without Fighters! A DM is especially needed but Wenger doesn’t seem to agree. ‘Good players can play together’ – Yes they can if, they’re played in their correct positions. Anyways, good post!

  2. rico says:

    Welcome Otis, and thanks..

So frustrating Lee, if he sorted the defence and DM positions, we’d be challenging. He can bleat on about 30 years blah blah but for goodness sake, these are key positions he’s neglecting..

    Afternoon Rico and All

    Spot on Rico..

I find it hard to understand what Arsene
    is talking any more..
For example..We came out of the traps
    saturday..No hand brake..
    Second half..hand brake on..
Did he tell all these attacking players
to go easy..4-0 up we don’t need anymore.
Don’t know about you lot..But I still get the
    Newcastle.. Nightmares.

Imagine the confidence that an 8 goal hammering would have given our squad and the message to our next group of opponents would have been one to make them worry. But no ! get in front and indulge ourselves in a passing game and run the clock down .

    .Ooops they’ve scored.

    RIP Jimmy Armfield

I notice that the Arsenal have offered no condolences to his family, friends or even Blackpool FC. Such thoughtful and caring gentlemen our Board.

Apart from being an absolute gent and a cracking summariser on 5 Live Sport he was an exceptionally good right back, better than Bellerin, even!

He holds a special place in my heart as a player. He was in the Blackpool team that played at Highbury in my first ever appearance at the hallowed ground, in 1961 along with Stan Matthews (his last appearance for Blackpool) the Arsenal won 3-0 all scored before half time. The second half was a bit of a non event! A bit like last Saturday!

Not bothering much about the second half when well ahead must be our football club’s way of having an afternoon off! No change there then!

    Afternoon all much warmer today!

  6. micko says:

rico, last I heard Mourinho was all black and blue from pinching himself, it’s getting harder and harder to follow Arsenal…….so pished off with it all !

  7. micko says:

Lee, all the shit we’ve had to take from Mourinho down the years and out of all the shits that were fighting for Alexis signature, he still ends up at manure……..sickening !

  8. rico says:

I too know how you feel Micko. I wouldn’t give that lot… well, nothing!

The and City have been our sell to clubs, Barca have had a few too. When will the club, or rather Wenger learn.?

  9. Goonster says:

Evening guys any news on the signing front? Hope they (sven and ivan) wrap this up this week. Don’t want this dragging on till the last day of the window. Get it done arsenal.

  10. Goonster says:

Micko and Lee we are not a big club anymore. We stopped being one the day we sold our soul. Leaving highbury was a bad idea. They told us we ‘re moving to compete but alas we regressed and are a mid table shit club now. It hurts but it’s a fact. Wish usmanov would just buy that bloody yank off. With him gone Wenger ‘ll run for his dear life.

  11. Goonster says:

Even though am super excited at the prospect of ozil mkhi and auba running riot in epl I still have an underlying fear of wenger ruining these players like he did ashavin poldi lucas etc. Ditch this damned tiki taka crablike footie and let’s play on the counter. Auba ‘ll struggle big time if we persist with that boring side to side bullshit. Oh how I long for a day we ‘ll have a real manager. What I ‘ll give to have a jardim sarri aleggri on the sidelines coaching this current team. Bummer.

  12. rico says:

We might compete again once Wenger has gone. As much as I’m not so keen on Kroenke, it’s not him sorting transfers, tactics and team selection…

  13. Goonster says:

Rico he don’t have to be. It’s an arsenal thing. We are known to dither. Heck we couldn’t even pay 2 million quid to Fulham for mark swarzer. Lol

  14. Goonster says:

I feel you Rico but with him as the major share holder Wenger’s job is safe. Under a new management he won’t last a week. I want wenger gone but kroenke more.

  15. rico says:

The club don’t dither Goonie, Wenger dithers. It makes a big difference with him not involved as Ivan and co can just go ahead and get the deal done without Wenger poking his nose in…

  16. Goonster says:

Even though I never really liked that prick Sanchez(he wasn’t an arsenal player by a mile). It ‘ll hurt to see him in a manc shirt.

  17. Goonster says:

If we could revert back to the 2007/08 team style of play with this current team. We ‘ll be a force to reckon with. I ‘ll even stick my neck out and say we ‘ll walk the league next season but we ‘ll need a ball playing DM another CB cause kozzer can barely stay fit lately and another RB can’t stand bellerin. That front 4 of ozil auba mkhi and lacasette ‘ll give any team and I mean any team a game.

  18. Le Coq Monster says:

    Excellant stuff Rico.

I`m still with Goonster there……………Kroenke is the bigger evil, Wenger is son of Satan ! …..hahaha

Cant wait to see if Alexis bigs up our club like Ox and Theo did, they showed class with their tweets……………Alexis will probably be too busy fantasising what small country he can buy with his salary !

Be nice if Ivan and Sven are in Dortmund with only theirselves doing the negotiations, but you know Wenger will have both on speedial !………………” Ivan it is Master Wenger !……….look I er hope you dont pay more than a pound over the budget and look I er hope you are looking for some young kid with potential as well, look I er hope you do not let Sven look at any DM`s, look I er we dont need them “

  19. Goonster says:

Just saw the pictures Rico. Damn it hurts. Even though RVP hurts more but seeing Sanchez in manure red broke my heart. We sang Alexis Sanchez baby to this cnut for 3 years yet he left us for our biggest rival. Football is dead to me.

  20. Meerkat says:

Evening all. Happy new year to you posters.

I thought id pop back in to say hello, and to see how all this malarkey is being played out.
It’s still a bit ‘groundhog-ish’, in that Le Prof is everyone’s anti-Christ, Sanchez is adored, and if only the team were coached properly all would be well in north London blah, blah, blah.
    Goonster sounds suicidal.
For what it’s worth, (not much I know) I think we have got the better deal. That little shitbag has gone to join that other little shitbag. The United team will be up in arms, Pogba, Lukaku, two big egos, won’t be happy. The little chilli shitbag will rub everyone up the wrong way. Good!
Micky will be out to prove a point. And, quelle surprise, he has always wanted to play for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger! Lol.
All we need is a half decent defence, and we will do well. If we get the other one or two targets, we will go better than well. Just my opinion of course.

Hello LcM, gone over to the dark side I see, lol. Oh ye of little faith. Kroenke will be the death of our club, not the puppet manager. Seriously, would you rather have Josay as manager? Nasty little git that he is. We used to be called ‘boring, boring, Arsenal’, that’s nothing to what we’d be with him at the helm.
Why is he so eaten up with jealousy of Le Prof? Makes you wonder.

  21. micko says:

rIco, it may be the year 2018 but there’s still plenty of supporters out there that would happily drink a cup-full of Arsene Wegners bath water lol……….nite matey, catch you tomorrow.

  22. Meerkat says:

LOL! Still blowing smoke up rico’s chuff then micko. There are so many brown noses on here, all singing from the same song sheet (rico’s).
‘The blog where it’s ok to disagree’ ? yeah right, as long as you agree.???

  23. Lee says:

“The blog where it’s ok to disagree” unless you’re talking out of your backside, we got the better deal out of the Sanchez swap???

If it’s a site of “brown nosers” why bother coming on here?

  24. rico says:

Meerkat, you do make me laugh.

The reason so many of us share a similar opinion is because unlike you and Wenger, our heads aren’t six foot into the sand. This blog has been going nearly eight years and you’ve been on here two minutes by comparison.

Eight years ago, I was in support of Wenger, but not now. It took me a while to wake up and realise the old man is ruining our club, but I guess you need a few more years to see that. So you see, your brown nose comment is like the rest of your latter comments. Silly and quite childish.

  25. Goonster says:

Arsenal still faffing about apparently. We are 15m euros off Dortmund’s valuation. Jeez it’s the 23rd of January you mugs. Get it done already. Man arsenal is enough to make a man shit himself. Morning HH.

  26. Goonster says:

Lol you re right about not being Wenger out until a few years ago rico. As a matter of fact you almost binned me alongside my buddy gunnerDNA(BLESS HIS HEART) for constantly berating Wenger on here. We ve been right all along it seems. Shame people like meerkat won’t see it.

  27. Goonster says:

How are you my man??? Enjoying my time at home. Really missed Arnhem. Thinking about staying back but I have brianna so that’s a stumbling block. Oh well let’s see what happens.

  28. Goonster says:

Heck i remember being cursed out on legrove back in 2011 for standing up for Wenger. Rectum spectrum and kev’s nemesis jaguar gave a me a torrid time that day. They were right all along. They saw the light way before we all did. I can’t believe i was pro Wenger at a time in my life (spits). Boy I can’t wait for him to be gone. 22 years is enough. 15 years of pure mediocrity is enough to ruin a whole generation of arsenal fans. Wenger out now.

  29. rico says:

Ha ha Goonie, it wasn’t what you said, it’s the way you said it… I really don’t have an issue with anyone’s opinion, it’s just sometimes, well, sometimes….. 😉

  30. Goonster says:

Apparently giroud don’t want to move. That’s why the deal is being held up now. How on earth is he going to be 3rd choice striker in a world cup year is beyond me. He needs regular footie to make the French team. Oh well it may be just rumors and hearsays. Hopefully we’ll get this auba deal done and concentrate on football. Can’t stand this transfer window anymore. Draining all my energy. Barely got any sleep last night. Look at my eyes twitching.

  31. Lee says:

If PEA comes, how will Le Senile One fit Launderette, Ozil amd Mik in?

    PEA Launderette
    Mik Ozil

    xhaka Jack/Ramsey

    Kola Koz muzza bell

    Cech

Crying out for a ball playing DM imo!

  32. Goonster says:

Well apparently he isn’t lee. I ‘ll think he ‘ll jump at the chance to get off the sinking USS WENGER.

  33. Goonster says:

Brudder lee we actually have one even though he’s a bit young and inexperienced. AMN could do a good job there for us but as always inspector Cousteau*spelling decides to chuck him on the wings. This man is unbelievable. God help me.

  34. Goonster says:

Love your team lee but bellerin won’t be close to the first team. I ‘ll go for a 334 formation. Cech nacho kozzer and my man mustafi at the back in the middle I ‘ll play AMN jack Wilshire and xhaka. Then the front 4 picks itself. Auba ozil mhki and lacasette.

  35. Goonster says:

That’s against relegation fodders and .I’d table teams. Against the top 6 teams I ‘ll revert to 4231.

  36. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Hi to HH from balmy Launceston,

So Alexis has gone to manure then, & the old fart still thinks he is Teflon when it comes to blame. I have no confidence in Arsene Wenger as The Arsenal manager anymore. Haven’t for a while now. My favourite Arsenal has gone!!

  37. Goonster says:

Rico xhaka ‘ll be a beast in a different team formation or manager. You ‘re not shit if carlo ancelloti rates you high. It’s all a coaching problem much like Walcott AOC and Rambo. All good players but ruined by wenger’s ineptitude.
