Arsene Wenger causing major upset? Lewandowski the marquee signing this summer?

Morning all.

As the Sergi Samper stories gather pace, headlines in Spain don’t make happy reading.

Barcelona-based paper Mundo Deportivo dedicated its front page to the story on Wednesday with the headline: ‘Wenger attacks again.’ What’s that all about eh?

Fabregas, Merida, Bellerin and Toral. (I’m sure someone will check to see if there were others). Then of course the Ladies team nabbed one of the best players at Barcelona, Marta Corredera.

Now of course there is this new story suggesting Arsenal will activate the midfielder’s ‘buy-out’ clause. Clearly they don’t like that idea in Spain

Well what about Cesc Fabregas, Thomas Vermaelen, Alex Song, Aleksander Hleb, Thierry Henry, Gio van Bronckhorst, Marc Overmars and Emmanuel Petit? All seasoned players who helped win them trophies… Well, one or two……

Reality is, Arsene Wenger takes a chance on young players who he will, if good enough, play them, whereas Barca don’t seem to give their younger players much of a chance as they prefer to sign big stars like Neymar, Suarez and of late, Turan and Vidal so how will those young Barca players ever get a real chance of breaking through into the first team?

Heck, even Fabregas wasn’t given a chance and he didn’t last too long after he returned either!

So is it any great surprise that Samper is really thinking about leaving Spain and taking on a new challenge with Arsenal? Apparently he’s good friends with Hector Bellerin too and Sergi will no doubt have seen what happened with his mate last season…

If it’s true and Arsenal really have activated the ‘buy-out’ clause for Sergi Samper, I really don’t believe that’ll he’ll think for too long before saying yes!

I read the comments from David James on Petr Cech the other day about how Arsene Wenger shouldn’t have sign the big keeper and instead he should have got Begovic from Stoke. He even went as far to suggest Arsenal fans would have preferred the latter. Just how he came to that conclusion I don’t know and perhaps after watching Begovic in goal for Chelsea last night he might have a re-think! Four goals Chelsea conceded to the New York Red Bulls and lost the game 4-2.

Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph has covered an interview with Arsene Wenger and it’s worth a read. HERE

This comment was interesting:

We have reduced the gap and I believe we are ready to go further. We now have the stability that gives us strength. Before I was more exposed to ‘Who will go?’ and now the question I get more is ‘Who will come?’

The transfer market is not over. We can still buy but I don’t think we will sell. Our potential on the market has changed.

I think Arsene Wenger is referring to the ‘better’ players when he talks about selling as I still think Campbell, Flamini and maybe one or two others with be sold and his comment about still buying gives me hope that he’s got one or two tricks up his sleeve yet this summer.

And I still think he’ll sign one ‘biggie’ as that seems to have become the norm each summer and then maybe someone like Samper, or certainly a ‘lesser known’ player. We know he likes a challenge.. lol

Gossip:

Kike Marin, wo is apparently ITK has been tweeting that if a deal can’t be done for Karim Benzema then  Robert Lewandowski will be the next option. If by some miracle that is true then I say forget Benzema and go for Lewandowski!

The Samper and Szczesny stories rumble on as do the Flamini to Turkey ones…

That’s it for Thursday, have a good one all…

To give anything David James says the remotest credibility, considering what a complete wreck his life is, would be daft. He has pissed his whole existence up the wall after having advantages that most could only dream of.
Knob of the very highest order.

  2. tsgh says:

All this Samper talk is a bit boring now.

If AW wanted a new Prodigy why did he not buy Keiss a 20y.o who has captained Schalke?

  3. rico says:

    Thanks Ts, Devil..

David James is just one of many pundits who talks out of his butt! He hasn’t a clue what Arsenal fans think and I’m sure there weren’t many who would prefer Begovic over Cech.

But I have to write about something… lol

  4. Adam says:

TS. I haven’t. I will see if the local library has it. The title leads me to imagine it might be a Geo-political take on the World? I could well be wrong though.

  5. Hell Raising Devil says:

If one is to compare what James says to what Almunia says…..the former is a bungler while the latter is a gentleman. Almunia was not big for his boots. he was humble enough.

James on the other hand……see Adam 10.23am. Anything else is superflous…………To give anything David James says the remotest credibility, considering what a complete wreck his life is, would be daft. He has pissed his whole existence up the wall after having advantages that most could only dream of..

Acc2Italian news Ches will be a Roma player soon.

So that means Ospina stays. Good. We will have a good keeper in every game then.

  6. Adam says:

TS. Just read a quick summation. I thought I recognised the author’s name. You are probably as interested as I am in this deal the Americans struck with Iran recently and the predictable reaction of the Israelis. The repercussions seem potentially far reaching.

  7. tsgh says:

Indeed it is; a well-read man like yourself would be fascinated by considering the way the media, culture and the likes are going…

The full title is ”The Grand Chessboard American Primacy And Its Geostrategic Imperatives”

I was just listening to the leaders debate and the views coming from the 4 contenders made me wonder if most things are orchestrated by individuals behind curtains… lol

  8. Ogban says:

Benzema is more suited to our game. With his trademark runs behind opposing defenses, he would exploit the through passes from Ozil and Carzola better than anyone else

  9. tsgh says:

Lol…I was definitely fascinated by that deal. Not only that but also the Greek ”stuff” too..
From a distance no matter what one’s persuasion on the situation is there will be some sort of repercussions…

Wed- Do you mean Pierre Emerick Aubameyang?

  10. Adam says:

Thanks. I shall do that. I was only talking to an American yesterday about the apparent lack of activity in the more recent days of Obama, Iran excluded of course. He was trying to explain to me the way that power works hand in hand with big business in the U.S. But I confess I find it difficult to grasp without descending too far into depressed cynicism.
The way the media is going and the slant that is put on the news we hear every day, even down at football level, is increasingly irritating. Are the sports media really as Liverpool and MU-centric as it seems? Brenda seems to got off awfully lightly as does LVG yet both are spending as if there is no tomorrow.

  11. Lee says:

David James another E.S.N ex pro trying to justify his existence…… there’s a plethora of these dickheads that try to be controversial, all rather tedious!

  12. tsgh says:

cynicism…lol. at least you did not use the conspiracy…

Don’t know about the football world but from geo-political view, the influence of the so called defunct Minister of Information influencing the

back here, not forgetting how a PM can dismiss rumours of abuse by individuals of the establishment before that blew up and how records can disappear suddenly without anyone with a press-pass raising any serious question.

  13. Adam says:

Yes, that is particularly disturbing and the new lady in charge of the enquiry mentioned a number of potential victims the other day that was staggering. At this stage I might well introduce the conspiracy slant. Is it all about undermining (still further) people’s confidence in government as it could reveal them as a bunch of nonces?
The balance between law and order and chaos sometimes seems stretched very thin, though not as thin as David James’ connection to reality or Mourinho’s claim to be a human being.

  14. tsgh says:

Rico since you mentioned C&P I thought I would appease you..

    ”Ordo Ab Chao”

Adam- isn’t it all part of the ‘grand design’ set in motion by Manly P Hall and his followers including Rockefeller.

  15. Wath says:

The question is………….. Will Abou pass his fitness test..!

Am always on the look out for dodgy umbrella’s Ts….

  16. Adam says:

TS. It most likely is. Where enormous wealth exists I imagine political influence isn’t far behind.
I hope it all works out for Abou.

  17. rico says:

WBA for Diaby? I’m surprised by that as I thought he’d want away from the PL…

I wish him all the best, I bet he stays fit and has a great time there…

  18. Dublingunner says:

Afternoon, well said re Barcalona, Rico, it seems one rule for them, another rule for others corncerning transfers. It is a testament to our great club, that a lot of their players, want to play for us, another player who it is said, likes the Arsenal way of playing, and has said “he looked up to thierry henry, his speed ,creativity and the way he scored goals is Lewandowski. Wenger has stated that he did try to sign him, before Munich became interested, what a signing he would be.

  19. Silky says:

    Great read Rico!!!!!!!!
    Morning All!!!
Is Draxler not on our radar any longer?
Not the most prolific but hes got time to improve on that.
Don’t really understand chasing a player for 2 to 3 years and then not being interested when his value comes down.

  20. rico says:

Sure does seem one rule for them etc Dublin, I forgot Hleb too…

Lewandowski would be fantastic if we get him…

Thanks Silky, he’s off to Juve apparently..

  21. Silky says:

Rico surely we can offer more in Transfer Fee, more in wages and also more opportunity to speak German

  22. scottfromoz says:

    WHO IS DAVID JAMES?
Lewandowski……best out and out striker in the world….what a player.
If Bayern offer him plus 20million, I’d think about giving them Aaron 🙂

  23. Lee says:

You seen this geezer that Newcastle have signed? Doesn’t know how old he is, has three birth certificates……..

  24. allezkev says:

I had a very nice evening yesterday, listening to some ‘live’ jazz in a local gastropub…

So I missed out on all the stroking references, which was just as well I suppose… 😉

Yes Lee, my Peroni days are behind me…

What was it you called it?
    A creeper….

    Geo-political chat as well… 😐

And there’s me worrying about the price of derv…..

  25. tsgh says:

    lol.. FIA doing something…

FIFA asks Russia to explain why Dench Frimps was punished for reaction to fan racism as club avoided action

  26. Dublingunner says:

Typical, I have said on here, we could do worse than try for Isco, and have told friends, It,s only a matter of time before papers link us again. Clicked on Arsenal news, the telegraph saying “Arsenal target Isco” jeez you could write there headlines for them, although up until today, no name linked to us has excited me at all, But Isco and Lewandowski certainly do.

  27. Dublingunner says:

has he been capped for England, Rico. we could do with a few keepers, has to be Irish in there somewhere with that name. not really aware of him.

  28. Malaga gooner says:

Rico has there been something wrong with the site the last couple of nights, haven’t been able to log on

  29. Micko says:

tsgh, I wanna become a brother, how do I go about getting a slice of this Geo Political Action shite !

  30. Micko says:

Nice post rico, you don’t half do your home-work gal, Wath must try harder……there’s a lot to be said for those old school reports buddy lol.

    Nite Gooners.

  31. Wath says:

Noted Micko, thing is as you say Rico is old school and me merely a young whipper snapper…!

My school report always says needs to try harder…!

  32. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

In what do you need to try harder WATH?? In practical biology, or physical education??? 😉

So it seems that if Benzema bid fails we are supposed to go after Lewandowski. The thing is….I would prefer all moves to fail if it means that Lewandowski will sign for us. Him over anyone else any day and any time and all the time…….

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/11759979/Arsenal-transfer-news-and-rumours-Gunners-target-Robert-Lewandowski-if-Karim-Benzema-deal-falls-through.html

  33. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Morning Rico.

That is the worst thing a director could say!!! Why state how much money AFC have available? Is it important for any one to know??

If I was AW i would have bashed him on the head with a saucepan.

  34. Malaga gooner says:

    Morning Rico and all
So we have 200mill om the bank, should be no excuse not to go out and spend the money on 2 world class players

  35. Lee says:

Like going to a game of poker and everyone knowing exactly how much money you’ve got in your pocket!

  36. tsgh says:

HINGE, BINGE, TINGE… Wath are you taking the phish with the noble name Ginge?

Micko- you are barred from all the conspiracy nonsense. 😉

Llorente has nice blue eyes I am told. 😉

Morning Rico, Dev, Lee and all

  37. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Morning BINGE…ooopssss sorry FINGE…….erm TINGE…….ooooppphhhhh Zinge.

    Ok I give up.

GINGE….did I say it correctly then???

Ginge will CRINGE when he reads all the BLINGE (just coined it…..another adjective for rubbish nicknames)

Who would you prefer noble Ginge….LEwandowski, Benzema or Aubemayang??

    I would go for Lewandowski

  38. Wavy says:

    Morning all.

Where has all this Lewendowski nonsense come from? Bayern Munchies have only had him a year! Why on earth would they want to sell him? And who have they got lined up to replace him?
The whole affair is a concoction of someone’s over active imagination, imo!
Llorente is far too old and just not good enough. Aubemageyang is possible, but is he better than what we’ve got?
Too many questions here and definitely not any answers!
