Arsene wants to sign Maxime Gonalons. Was Koscielny overlooked?

Morning all.

First day of Lent today so what are you giving up, anything?

I guess the big news around Arsenal right now relates to Thierry Henry who has been offered the chance to kick off his coaching career at Arsenal. Apparently he’s already taken a few training sessions at the club’s Hale End centre for the youth players and it’s all part of gaining hands-on experience in order to obtain his UEFA qualifications.

I’d imagine that once he get’s all his badges, he’ll quit Sky Sports and start managing with the view of one day becoming the Arsenal manager but perhaps that’s a few years off yet.

I wonder if the Chav fans would shove him off the London Tube trains if he tried to get on one? What a horrid lot their fans are and I wonder how the black Chelsea players feel this morning after reading the sports pages headlines. This is 2015, there’s no place for such disgrace and unlawful behaviour in the world, let alone in football and I hope those found guilty, get the book thrown at them.

Classless!

Anyway, back to the class…

With both Mikel Areta and Per Mertesacker missing the Boro match, Santi Cazorla, as we know, was given the captains armband which I thought was an odd choice. I’m not a huge fan of attacking players being given the armband and always believe the captain should be a defender or at a push, the main man in midfield. Santi has certainly been that of late but playing the role he does, he’s too busy trying to create things and not always can he see what’s going wrong at the other end of the pitch. Ok, very little did on Sunday so it mattered not but that’s not always been the case.

I was surprised Laurent Koscielny wasn’t given the responsibility as he’s at the perfect stage in his career to be the leader of the pack – a man who can see all of the play ahead and around him and to sort things out when needed. I wonder why he was overlooked.

Talking of defenders, after Gabriel’s fine performance against Boro, I hope he keeps his place this weekend against Crystal Palace, actually, if he carries on as he started, I hope the way back for Mertesacker is very difficult. It’s good to know that we finally have competition for places in defence and not only will Gabriel and Mertesacker be fighting for a place, so too will Calum Chambers as he too had a much better game at the weekend and it looks like the rest has done him the world of good.

One place we lack competition though is in the central defensive midfield department. It’s a straight fight between Francis Coquelin and Mathieu Flamini and the younger Frenchman get’s my vote right now. Surely Arsene Wenger will make that position a priority signing in the summer?

There’s been a lot of speculation over Morgan Schneiderlin having already agreed a deal to join us but considering the transfer rules and regulations, I doubt there’s an awful lot of truth in that story unless something was agreed between the clubs in January.

Today though, reports in France suggest it’s Maxime Gonalons is the man Arsene Wenger wants to sign in the summer.

Who would be your preference – or should Arsene Wenger go all out to get Paul Pogba?

That’s it for Wednesday, have a good one all….

    Afternoon all

A little news from our club concerning travelling arrangements to but not from old toilet!

Another statement, this time from Arsenal who have released one in relation to the announcement that their FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United will be played at 19:45 GMT on Monday 9 March.
They said: “The club is exploring a number of options to help our travelling supporters get back to London afterwards.
“No return trains are currently timetabled and we will let supporters know the proposed travel plans as soon as possible.”

Fans what fans? Consideration? No consideration!
If the game can’t be fixed on the field the powers that be are determined to fix it off the pitch!
Just how many of the die hard fans will make it to Manchester and more relevantly how many will make it back in time for work the following day.
No provision, no thought into the timing of the event. No fucking idea……except for maximum money gleaned from the TV rights.

Football is dying for the live fans. And realism is dead in the water!

Ap per usual the powers that be running the game couldn’t give a flying fuck about the fans… Only 4 quarter finals and they choose to play the most important one on a monday night with a big “fuck you” to the fans….. utter wankers…!

Wath, you most have forgotten the FA is a company registered at company house.. 🙂

    Company Registration No. 00077797.

It stoppped thinking about the regular fan agaes ago…

What a stupid ko off time for the travelling fans but, it’s better than a lunchtime ko surely and that’s purely because we are rubbish at lunchtime…

    Hi all
It seems to be a fact that the Chavs and Spuds fans are a throwback to the darker days of the 70’s and 80’s. Next time there is a big game at the dog track and the away team get a corner or a player runs over the dead ball line, have a look at the Neanderthals spitting and snarling at them. It’s as clear as day yet the FA never seem to look at it. Horrible club from top to bottom.

Wouldn’t it make a point if all those that live in London,
    decided not to go.
Can you imagine what only 5,000 fans would look like,
    in that toilet.

3 ways of going to Old Toilet for me. I can drive to Nottingham and get a train to Man Piccadilly , leave home about midday arrive Manchester 1 hour before kick off return the same way and get Home 3.30 am. Or I can Drive to Manchester direct leave about 2 pm and get back 3.00 am or if I really want to take a holiday I could get a train from Norwich to Manchester leaving at 1.00 pm and get back at 8.45 Tuesday morning.

Ah well another game that I won’t be attending. Just think of the money the BBC are saving me , I might be able to afford a licence.

  8. rico says:

Don’t blame you Potter, stay at home and watch on television…. Can’t think many Arsenal fans will be attending, perhaps that’s what ‘they’ wanted….

  9. potter says:

Problem is that the club is obliged to taske the allocation and pay for it whether the tickets are sold or not.

It’s all designed to take the support away from the team, and I’m sure the ref will be dreadful as well. Bad enough having to go to their vermin infested stadium with it’s sinking pitch. Cheating bastards.

  11. frednerk says:

Lets be honest, our players are not streetwise,
all refs are not ex-players,so are never going to agree,
with what we know and see.
So for me its up to the players to learn,
    Every ref has a history,
some like to be buttard up a bit,
some havn’t a clue what a foul is,
some enjoy being told, well done ref,
some need to go to specsavers,
The one certain thing I do know is,
every ref is geared up for abuse, and can’t
wait to reach for the top pocket.
I would like our players to show a bit of character,
and question the ref now and then.

  12. rico says:

Do that Fred and the card will come out soon as, possibly why the players don’t question a lot…

Wrong I know as so many other club players get away with far too much…

    Evening all….

  13. frednerk says:

You have to earn the right to play rico,
    what ever the level.
Look at that little midget chav, every trick in
the book on the ref and still moans,
everyones got it in for us.
For me if the refs have got in for us,
lets do what the chavs do and make it
    worth a booking.
Strangle holds, head butting and systematic fouling,
I can cope with that kind of booking.
