Arsene targeting Albania full-back & Cavani? England spurn too many chances, a bit like Arsenal really…

Morning all.

The England fans have been making the wrong headlines but as the days go by, more and more it seems that they are the victims rather than the perpetrators… I’m sure there’s a few who aren’t free from blame but the Marseille locals are certainly winding our boys up when darkness falls.

Things got worse yesterday at the game as Russian fans appeared to attack the English fans just after the final whistle blew. Pictures are all over the internet showing how the Russians fled their seats in search of an Englishman to fight. The English fans had nowhere to run. The police were pretty useless, as were the stewards inside the ground.

Jamie Vardy’s wife got caught up in it all and didn’t like what she saw:

That has to be up there with the worst experience EVER at an away game!

Teargassed for no reason, caged and treated like animals! Shocking!

I witnessed this with my own eyes! I can’t comment on things I didn’t see but what I got caught up in was horrific and uncalled for!

And this happened before the game even kicked off!

Sad times….

But, to hear the England fans cheer team on last night, dropping in the the occasional ‘God Save Our Gracious Queen’, was fantastic, especially on a day when her Mag celebrated her official birthday. Talking of which, how wonderful was the Trooping of the Colour and the flyover…. Awesome, simply awesome…

Ok, back to football…. England dominated the game as far as possession goes and had plenty of chances to kill the game off both before and after going 1-0 up but those chances were spurned and when Russia scored at the end of the game, Roy Hodgson and his players must be kicking themselves…

No such problems for Aaron Ramsey and his Wales side who kicked their tournament off with a victory over Slovakia and Granit Xhaka had a decent game in midfield as Switzerland huffed and puffed their way to a 1-0 victory over ten man Albania.

Northern Ireland kick off their campaign today as do Germany so Mesut Ozil show be on show a bit later.

Transfer Gossip:

Elseid Hysaj, Albania’s right-back is being linked to us today. 22 years old, 5′ 10″, he’s reported to be a versatile player who is equally as comfortable playing on the left, as he is on the right.

And the best one of the morning is from The Express who suggest that if Jamie Vardy turns Arsenal down, Arsene Wenger will go for Edinson Cavani…

On that note, enjoy your soggy Sunday. Not nice weather for a street party eh……

As for England thast what happens when the team is made up of top chokers from the wrong end of North London

    Good Morning lovelies and Hunkies.

Good post boss. But I did not agree with all the title…….it should have read……England spurn too many chances, a bit like Arsenal really…but with a spuddie flavour, seeing that half the English team was spuddie.

  3. Hell Raising Devil says:

    it was a peach tbh.

but did it need just a freekick to score??? how many times the English players got behind the Russian defence only to fluff their chances or waste them???

And how many times did Raheem Stirling run 25,30,40 and once even 50 metres with the ball only to loose it?? As Kev said……he is fast developing Theo’s lack of brain.

    No tactical nous.

  4. allezkev says:

I thought that Eric Dier and Deli Alli had good games, but Kane lacked sharpness.
I don’t blame Jack coming on, I thought Vardy for Stirling was all it needed tbh…

Aren’t the people of Marseille delightful, made up of 2nd and 3rd generation Algerians, Morrocans and Tunisians, with that wonderful tradition of attacking people with knives and other instruments of violence…
The French Police are fcuking useless, marching around like a
Panzer division rampaging through Belarus in 1941.

Then we have those splendid fascist fans from Mother Russia, warmimg up for the World Cup.
Well done FIFA you corrupt bunch of cnuts…

And warm congratulations to the UEFA organising committee who though it was a grand idea to stage England vs Russia in Marseille in the first place…

All it needed was the South Yorkshire Police dealing with crowd control…

100% fcuk up as per usual…

    Morning All ?
    Morning Rico ?

I was observing Stirling running with the ball.

Head down, looking at the ball, not up analysing options. Running in blind alleys. Always the same straight line. Down the wing. Towards the corner flag. And when he lifted his head to look a Russian defender had locked on him waiting for his moment to take the ball.

tbh….no one ran with RS in support and too often he left them in his wake. But imo what he should have done is to try and play one two with one of the forwards on his way upfield and try to create space for himself not just an alley.

And why did Woy put in Milner instead of Vardy?? He would have given the Russians something to think about. Woy should have gone 4-4-2 with Kane and Vardy upfront.

I enjoyed seeing Alli and Dier in the centre. They offered stability and in them the Spuds have a couple of good solid midfielders. However taking off Stirling and not putting a winger but put in Milner who is slower than a carthorse and who went inside takes the biscuit.

Lo and behold the ball came from Stirling’s side after Rose was left exposed to deal with the Russians on that side.

As Kev rightly pointed out….the Russians were very ordinary. The game should have been over by the 30th minute.

Wales are tougher. And all of their players will be fired up.

  6. rico says:

    Morning Kev…

Sloppy for the Russia goal too, defence really needs to tighten up but agree re Alli and Dier. Kane was very average in front of goal. Perhaps he was nervous playing at such a high level… 😉

  7. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. What a shambles in France, though entirely predictable.
Rubbish football too despite Lee Dixon going way over the top about it and Glenda Hoddle wetting himself over the Spurs players.

  8. Hell Raising Devil says:

Many aspects of the English game was predictable.. Kev rightly pointed out that Lallana was unorthodox and as such could not be predictable in what he was going to do. A team like Germany would have drilled holes with consummate ease in the English team and the latter would have been to lick their wounds long after the qualifiers of the next Euro championship.

They would have given them a lesson in football.

  9. rico says:

    Morning Adam…

What else would you expect from Hoddle… If this is the best England have got, then what a sorry state of affairs…

  10. Adam says:

I know Rico. He’s at it again on TV now, fawning over Delle Ali. Presumably Russia have a historical right to play in European tournaments. I suppose it’s a chance for McDonalds and Coca Cola to sell some more crap to the Russians through TV advertising.

  11. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all.

I dont normally watch England games as I`m a true patriotic Arsenal supporter !. 😀
I dont want Arsenal players playing for any country as we`ve had quite a few injuries from international games in the past and it`s always Arsenal first for me, so I`m overjoyed that Santi and Co got left out !
I only watched the first half and apart from not scoring I cant see any Arsenal connection. I thought England were awesome in pressing the Ruskies, to tell the truth I was quite shocked !, it was like a frenzied attack.pressure pressure pressure……..now Arsenal do not play like that !, it`s how I would like us to play, but we never press like that ( maybe the Manshafter game at home last season for the first 20 mins ! ) and the Ruskies can think them selves a tad fortunate not to have lost.
The other thing with is trying to bring myself to cheer on players from other teams who I fcuking hate !…………i dont know anyone who hates them spuds more than me and to watch 5 of the bastards and try and cheer was hard !……..it`s a dilemma of conflicting emotions, a bit like coming home and looking through a window and seeing your wife in ecstasy whilst being roggered by a stranger…….you are raging with anger but have a hard on and dont know whether to go in and kill the bastard or just carry on watching for a few more minutes………..I mean, you might learn something and also need time for the aroused feeling to subside !. hahaha
My only hope is that England go far and the spuds are die or exhaust themselves after England win it and are in wheelchair or a coffin when next season starts !…………….although, if Wenger decides to buy the spuds whilst the tournament is going I might change my mind as they are decent players albeit being knuckledragging scummy bastards who probbably entertain bored housewives !. 😀

  12. rico says:

If I was an England supporter and by that I mean follow the team around the world, I’d certainly give the 2018 Euros a miss Adam.

  13. Hell Raising Devil says:

Le Coq I am with you on that comment……the less Arsenal players play for their country the better.

But for thinking that England will go far in this tournament……don’t waste any money on betting mate. SF at the most……and I am stretching it. I would be surprised if they went all the way.

    Greece did it though.

  14. Le Coq Monster says:

Thing is watching the first half and doing everything but score, I(you) just had the feeling it was not going to end well………very frustrating !……A bit like my mate Dave, we go out and he does all the chatting up of the girls, buys all the drinks, then off to a restaurant afterwards, he then settles the bill at the end and drives us to his mansion in the countryside, puts on the Barry White music and brings out the Champers and I`ll say that`s not enough Dave !…… go get some more !……..I then follow him and lock him in the wine cellar !………..very frustrating for Dave !……although, I`m not a complete bastard as I will turn on the radio so he can listen to the England game !. hahaha

  15. Gd10 says:

Anyone notice how over the last few week Cristiano Kane has developed a bit of an ego?

Taking corners, freekicks (complete with Ronaldo style pre kick leg split pose) random. 50 yard wasted shot.

He never used to be like this

Guy needs dropping and put in his place. Supposed to be a team effort.

  16. Hell Raising Devil says:

Cristiano Kane or Harry Ronaldo is growing a bit too big. He may have set his sights high and obviously will soon be itching for a better wage until the spuddies cannot afford him. His aim is higher than the EPL….he fancies himself in the Primera liga or Bundes Liga.

I have not noticed these small things GD10, but that does not bode well for either him or for the spuddies.

Hopefully he continues along that vein.

  17. Gd10 says:

    Hell raising devil

He is certainly dropping his hard working local hero persona in favour of a more look at me I’m a superstar one.

Keep a close eye on him. Its seemed to have crept into him over the last few months. Probably all that smoke being blown up his arse over Spuds ‘title challenge’

    Sad to see.

  18. Gd10 says:

    Rico

    You think?

I always though he was quite down to earth. Its why despite every moral fibre of my being telling me otherwise, I kinda liked him despite being a spud.

    That’s certaih eroding now though!

  19. Wavy says:

I wonder if Wenger has seen Modric’s goal yet? He hit it fully 25 yards out! Sure
Y he should have controlled the ball firs and then looked for a colleague to pass it to, but no, he insisted on hitting the ball on the volley. The result? A GOAL, and what a goal.
Could never happen at the Arsenal. Far too positive!
It’s little wonder our midfielders don’t contribute many goals to the totals, is it?
If you don’t shoot you don’t score!

    Here endeth the lesson.

  20. Silky says:

Afternoon all….. Just watching Poland vs NI Milik jus Skyed a ball.
He looks ok tho wouldn’t mind someone like him young n eager to improve n impress

  21. Gd10 says:

Was watching NII until Rico’s comments re. Florida.

    Sky news now.

What the fucks wrong.with this world.

  22. rico says:

Gd, goodness only knows. Dreadful stuff going on in so many places with innocent and defensless people being murdered….

  23. Silky says:

Ya Rico am looking forward to that! Poland play nice stuff but no real end product as of yet!
Am dying today was at my mates sisters 21st last nite omg the talent quality n quantity!!!!
It was a treble party 3 21 yo girls were having their party’s at the same venue ? 5:30 this morning was the finish time. I’m to old for this sh*t

  24. Micko says:

Ah Rick, I was waiting for the highlights on chanel 4, some of us don’t have Sky you know !

Devil, of all the central defenders on show tonite the Ukraine centre half really looked the business, haven’t got a scooby what his name is or who he plays for mind ya but a very cool cookie all the same.

rico, your nearly footballed out and we’re only 2 days in lol……..it’s been a long long season, pretty sure Ozil would second that on tonites performance !

  25. Micko says:

It’s not hard to confuse me tsgh, I’m not even gonna go there !

Poldoski on the pitch aferwards celebrating , miss his infectious smile, very tactile bloke.

  26. Micko says:

Ireland’s turn tomorrow, hate to say it but I don’t think they’re gonna win a game, so hope I’m wrong.

    Catch ya tomorrow, nite matey.

  27. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

The big story doing the rounds today is that the dippers want Theo. Are they really offering 25mill??? If yes bite their hands of……even if it is 24,999,999.99c

Still Klopp may bid 24mill+1 so it wont matter.

I hope we get someone decent who puts in a shift.

  28. Hell Raising Devil says:

I saw nearly all the games till now at the Euros……and England were a photocopy of Arsenal team. Germany on the other hand, had their difficult moments but were decisive during the crucial moments, drilling holes in the Ukrainian team and scoring two goals and keeping a clean sheet. They did not set any houses on fire but were solid and organized.

If only Arsenal and AW copied Germany.

  29. Hell Raising Devil says:

does it matter Rico??? if he goes to the dippers??? If we get a very good player who puts in a shift in his place then it does not matter to whom he goes. Theo knows that he is on his last transfer now as he is 27, but imo he will start well until he gets sussed out and revert back to normal…..he would not give a rat’s arse.
