Arsene speaks, Mbappe and Lemar it is then……

Morning all,

Well The Arsenal have officially landed in the land of Oz, i’ll refrain from comments on wizard of Oz.

In an official press conference Arsene has spoken about the new players brought in, the Sanchez situation and the possibility of new players still to arrive.

Arsene has “again” stated that Alexis is still under contract, will not be sold and has not ruled out the fact Alexis could yet sign a new deal. It was also said that Alexis has not asked to leave the club. It’s all very cloak and dagger from Arsene and sort of what you’d expect but the fact he has again stuck his neck on the line and said Alexis will not be sold I think is him shouting from the roof top to all the possible Alexis suitors that “IF” you don’t “show us the money” then he is going nowhere. I think it’s a subtle bit of marketing from Arsene and fair play to him for that. I don’t think there is an Arsenal fan on the planet that believes keeping Alexis doesn’t make us a stronger team and squad so by playing hard ball maybe he signs a new deal and if necessary at least leaves next season on a contract that allows us to demand a nice big fee, win win all round if that scenario plays out but maybe keeping him and adding more quality he wants to stay because we actually become a far more competitive team.

Arsene was asked about Kolasinac and Lacazette and says they both intelligent players who he believes will adapt and fit into the squad well. Lets hope for our sake they also adapt quite quickly although   they also both need to be given time and we need to show a little patience, not all players hit the ground running do they, look at TH, Dennis and Bobby…! Seem both will be involved to some degree in Thursday’s game.

Arsene was then asked about Mbappe and Lemar and if he was interested in bringing them to Arsenal. He was very diplomatic in he responses but at the same time praised both players and made it clear he likes them both, we know that a manager really cannot publicly say to much about players under contract elsewhere but again Arsene has said all the right things yet if we are honest we have heard it all before, what needs to happen in this instance is the Club needs to show the ambition and go and get these kind of players to take us to that ‘next level’ that we are told about all to frequently but it’s a level we never seem to attain. I do agree with Arsene stating we need to improve from within as well as looking at quality purchases but lets be honest for years and years we always always seem to be one or two players short of being a great side, lets not fall short again please Arsenal. Bring in that extra quality, Lacazette and Kolasinac are a great start but we do need a couple more to truly push on.

Enjoy your day.

Scott, it sounds like you’re going to have a great time over there, Arsenal are pretty good at these type of tours, considering that it’s been 13 barren years with no league title the image of Arsenal is still extremely high among its fans across the globe…

    Morning All.
Morning Wath, yes, it was duff, but readable.

    Morning all,
Kev, Sean is the one who’ll have a blast lol
Meeting the players, a bus trip to a training ground for a small group training session, then the shirt unveiling and that’s just tomorrow!
He doesn’t even know everything that he’s about to experience!!
I’m just sitting back and enjoying it all.
Even my non Arsenal mates are amazed at how detailed the tour is.
Chelsea, Utd and Liverpool all just came and went.

  3. Wath says:

I will try to make it worse tomorrow Kev, can’t have it being readable….!

I wonder if the Mbappe and Lemar comments are true or a smokescreen for other targets he/we have in mind…!

  4. Wath says:

Scott, when Arsenal do things like that they do it properly, shame can’t be said of our transfer dealings the last 5/6 years lol

  5. Wath says:

It makes you wonder Scott what all these “talented executives” get paid for at the club… seems most are pretty average at best lest alone top execs…!

  6. Wath says:

That and the fact we seem to have these fat cat execs who contribute very little to the club Scott and earn a huge salary. Lets be honest with our transfer history the last 4/5 years heads should of rolled and if it was you and I in our jobs we’d of been given marching orders for gross negligence and being “useless”…!

  7. ScottfromOz says:

Wath, I agree, but it always leads to the “who’s fault is it” debate.
    Blame them all 🙂

  8. Wath says:

I totally agree Scott, they are ALL to blame, we are told Wenger sets the wages for his socialist pay scheme and doesn’t want top earners at the club so that is obviously a hindrance although maybe just maybe he is seeing that doesn’t work or someone has actually told him it doesn’t work but at the same time what are these top execs being paid for if it’s not to bring in the best sponsorship deals and make sure our best players are tied up to long term contracts. We went through all this crap 6/7 yrs ago when average players were earning way to much and we couldn’t get shot of them. Rinse and repeat as Lee would say and totally unacceptable for a top club with the so called top execs we have who obviously are also just thieving a living..! back to who exactly is held accountable and who is responsible for what..?!?!

  9. ScottfromOz says:

    Well said.
As I’ve maintained, it’s a ridiculous situation that a single person has so much control over the club.
So many take no responsibility but let’s hope things are truly changing.

Morning all great post by the way WATH…. scott please put in a word for me…. I can play practically any where.. Lol

Afternoon all, and good opening post Wath.
I think Mbappe is out of our range now, We offered £100 million, but it still isn’t enough. TBH, it is a risk with that sort of money isn’t it, so we can’t say le prof is a tight-arse any more.

I think Sanchez will be a goner not a gooner before the start of the season, but if he goes to citeh, we had better thrash them when we play ’em.
It’s ll about money at the end of the day, he has no loyalty to us fans or the club. He is prepared to be a bench-warmer with Pep, that say’s it all really. Much as we need a player like him, I’d rather he fkd off, and we use the money wisely. Citeh can afford £100 million if they want him that badly.

I’m looking forward to the season now, the dark cloud has lifted somewhat.
I don’t see why, if Lens is returning to coach, we can’t cut loose the current coach. That would be one less wage on the books.

My only little worry is Cech. I wish we had beaten Everton, to sign Pickford.

  12. Meerkat says:

PS. I see we are being linked to a move for Virgil Van Dijk. That would make a statement to the rest of the EPL, if we were to win that auction.

Evening all and thank`s for the duff post, Wath. 🙂

Anyone else watching Wenger on TV talking about Alexis, Mbappe, Lemar etc`………think he had that smirky grin on his face, you know the one, where he looks like he knows something we dont know !………………..and it aint a Possum under the table giving him a tea bagging !

Nice to read from the dirty downunder boys that Arsenal got a great reception on landing there !………………I actually think that if Arsenal were to be relocated that Australia would be a good as place as anywhere !……………..it could be then known as …………..Arstralia !…………………..what`s that ?……….it already is ! ……………………..fair dinkum Bruce ! 😆

Anyway, when`s the first game in Oz ?

  14. ScottfromOz says:

    Thursday night our time, LC.
Arsenal and your pubs are the only things I’d like relocated here 🙂

    Afternoon all,

Now i don’t want to rain on The Arsenal parade, but i think you should all know that The Arsenal being in Sydney did not even get a mention on Melbourne News. Not a thing! That’s probably because Sydney is still a colony of England, where as Melbourne lives & breathes AFL. Anyway, I just thought you might like to know.

  16. ScottfromOz says:

    Melbourne are just jealous lol
Sean and his mates bus ride to training was with Aaron, Danny boy, BFG and Theo!!!
    They had an absolute blast.

  17. Le Coq Monster says:

    Morning all.

What a fantastic experience that must be for Sean and his mates, hope he has plenty of photos to keep for looking back in the future as occasions like that are few and far between………………superb !

  18. gnarleygeorge9 says:

You could be right Scott. Sydney & Melbourne have never got on. But The Arsenal PR department may have lost an opportunity to spread the word to a broader fan base. Especially to spread the word in Melbourne which is running rings round Sydney these days?

  19. Le Coq Monster says:

The game will be shown live on Arsenal Player, with the pre-match show starting at 10:45am (UK time) ahead of the 11:00 kick-off.

Aparrently not available to stream in Arsetralia………………..especially Melbourne !
    🙂
