Morning all.
Well well, one rumour we hear quite a few days ago has come true, Wojciech Szczesny has signed a new four year contract and both player and manager are thrilled to bits.
Arsène Wenger said:
We’re very pleased Wojciech has signed a new long-term contract. I have always believed he is an extremely talented player, with excellent reflexes and good mental strength. He continues to grow and improve all the time too, so he has the potential to be even better. He can be an important part of Arsenal Football Club for many years to come.
Arsene Wenger played a huge part in the improvement of our younger Pole. He’s gone from being a quite cocky keeper who would all too often make silly mistakes that all too often cost us, to an assured, competent and very organised player. Arsene Wenger’s part, well he finally dropped him to the bench after clearly witnessing one error too many.
Szczesny said:
I am very pleased to have signed a new contract. Arsenal is like my family and I’m so happy to be committing my long-term future here. I’ve been at this Club for over seven years now and I’d just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their support towards me during my time here.
Many people have given me amazing support since I arrived as a boy, people like Tony Roberts, who helped my development as a player from a young age. I’m so proud to be an Arsenal player and am looking forward to helping our Club towards success in the years to come.
Having been dropped, Szczesny didn’t sulk, moan or speak badly about the club. He held his head high, clearly worked hard to improve himself and waited for the chance to be number one again.
He didn’t have to wait too long. Finally it seems we have a goalkeeper who plays like a ‘proper no 1’ and utterly deserves his place.
Long may he continue to improve as he’s not perfect, but then what goalkeeper is?
Rumours:
Abdisalam Ibrahim – a Manchester City player who was once described as being similar to both Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure is up for grabs having been told by his club manager that he can leave. His contract with City is up in the summer anyway, but Pellegrini is prepared to let him go before then. He’s 22 years old and already plays for Norway U23’s.
The downside to him, he doesn’t like sitting on the bench….
Ourselves, Everton and Celtic are all rumoured to being interested in acquiring his services!
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reportedly suffered a set-back on his return date, he’s not expected to start any kind of training until mid December so we won’t be seeing him before 2014.
Aaron Ramsey didn’t feature for Wales last night, suggestion is his absence was done to catching ‘man flu’ from the others who have been poorly….
That’s it for another day….
Morning guys.
Man flu is real, Rico 🙂
Morning Scott, we ladies call it a cold… 😉
Boo!! Hello, all. Great to hear the fuss-free contract extension of Chesney. Now, for Sagna and our BFG!
Man flu, tsk tsk, Scott. 😛
Hello, rico. Howdy? 🙂
Hi agag, how are things??
Morning all.Nice one Rico.
Having only just read yesterdays post, i noticed that Bendtner got more comments than Vermaelen. In fact Vermaelen hardly got a mention. Bendtner who really cares if he goes next transfer window or if he stays, as lets face it he will be here right to the death, where else or who else would pay him the same money. Vermaelen in my eyes was the best defender we had at one stage and only injury and the signing of BFG has stopped him being a regular. Very hard to play your best football when filling in in a strange position which Vermaelen did for quite a few matches, he did make a few mistakes which ultimatly cost us goals but that is not really his fault. A player who does not play all the time never really feels comfortable when he comes in to play a bit part and also in a strange position but Vermaelen has done his best with very little moaning. Team captain is probably not a good idea for him as what good is a captain that sits on the bench with very little chance of getting on. I doubt he will get a run of games unless an injury befalls the other two CBs.. I feel that rotation in the CB positions would help all three but thats just my opinion. Czezesney signing a long contract is probably settling for him and the team, it has to be said that he has probably been the best choice this season as lets face it we have not seen our New Keeper at all yet and still are not sure why we got him. I feel that top keepers who have been dropped from other clubs have been more interested with hair products than with the football Czezesney take heed. Czezesney has been brought along by Wenger he has always been his favorite maybe because of his team spirit and his joviality in the dressing room, for me he is probably the best of the crop and while he sticks between the posts and doesn’t rush out will suit me fine. Ramseys turn of form has put him in the spotlight i have noticed that his after game talks has started to change his once shy attitude to now speaker of the team. I hope he stays away from Hair adverts as well.
Sagna is a worry, mind you, so is the manager’s contract. Per will no doubt sign up any time soon…
morning house, just waiting for bfg and especially Sagna to sign too……would be gutted if we lose Sagna……the Guy is a proper bloke and I’m not sure anyone is more deserving of a new contract IMO …….ps his wife is a total gunner too……lol
Good, rico. 🙂 But as you well know, the eastern coast of the Phils was ravaged by a supertyphoon. 🙁
Thanks Sp.
I suspect we will see the new keeper play in the FA Cup but I bet right now he wonders why we signed him too. He wanted playing time in a WC year, well he’s done his chances of playing for Italy no good at all…
Me too snaparse…
Yes agag, have seen the reports on the news, horrific what that part of your country has suffered. Truly hope the aid gets to where it needs to and continues for a long time..
How the families will get over such losses I never know, awful for them all 🙁
Man flu? What the hell is that Lady?
Bird flu I understand.
Pig flu might be similar.
But man flu?? is it contagious? 😉
Good Morning to all bdw.
good news regarding Cheeser. Now for AW, Sagna and Per to commit.
Nik B has said he’d like to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona…
Plenty of holiday companies go there, Barcelona is a nice city to visit… 😉
Morning Devil…
No idea re man flu, just a big fuss made over a bit of a cold I think… 😉
Morning Rico. Hi Agag. Really sad to hear about the tragedies unfolding in your country. Devastating stuff.
Me too Agag. its a big loss really and very devastating on the families.
The wind was going at 320 km/hr I read mates. enough to fly a car let alone a human being.
Morning Adam..
Their struggle has only just begun, rico. 🙁 🙁 On the other hand, many governments have sent aid. The UK has been very generous. 🙂 🙂 Unlike China. 😛 Haha. Sorry couldn’t resist.
Hello, SSP, Snaparse, Dev. How are you?
Hello, Adam. How are you?? 🙂 Heartbreaking, stuff. I do not have family there, but I have friends who do, and accounts of what they went through are harrowing. 😥
Morning all.
Heard Benik Afobe is playing.
You think this 20 year old will break into senior team this season, especially Nik may be gone in January 2014?
Together with Aneke, they were hailed as the “next big thing”.
What happened?
What went wrong that they seemed not to break into senior team like Zelalem or Akpom?
Guess it is the end of the line for Fabianski.
Next up … that Italian bloke will play in FA Cup then?
Agag. I can well imagine.
Puts things into a different perspective when you read about the suffering.
I am ok thanks.
🙁 Agag…
I think both have a chance Merlin, IF, AW gives it to them..
Off to do my Christmas shopping today, so catch you all a bit later…
Enjoy, rico. 🙂 🙂 I really ought to find a job, I realized. No Christmas bonus for methis year. 😕
For every story of government failure, ineptitude, and the opportunism of some; there are stories of heroism and the unfailing resilience of the Filipino people. In some ways, things are looking up I think. 😛
Adam, you done with your shopping? 😉
One of Charlie Chaplin’s quotes regarding politicians is the following……”I remain just one thing and one thing only..a clown. It places me on a far higher plane than any politician.”
those who govern are there not to serve the country….but only for their pockets.
nuff said.
Dev, too true. Politicians here are a different breed altogether. Part clowns, part animals. Not a good combination. It’s enough to make anyone despair.
Agag. Mrs Adam has taken her presents early this year as her birthday is two days before Christmas.
No doubt I will get her something smelly too.
And yourself?
Its not there only Agag. its all goverments all over the world. They promise heaven on earth and when they are elected they treat you like a lemon. squeeze every last drop you have and they cast you aside.
Nice, Adam. 😉 L’Artisan Parfumeur ha some good scents. I’ve done a bit of shopping in NYC. No big ticket purchase though. Woe is me. 😀
Dev, the ones here are shameless; and go about their merry corrupt ways with impunity. It makes me sick.
seems as if Pato will be coming at the Ems in January.
I like the player but honestly I think he is too lightweight for the premiership. Shades of Eduardo come to mind. but he is very technical……….although fragile knees and ankles.
Politicians have the art of gaining kudos from doing nothing. Our government proudly proclaim that they will match the sum donated by the British people to aid The Phillipines.
Can someone remind me exactly where they got the money to pay this amount in the first place.
Pato is a fantastic player in the Diaby mold of injury-prone-ness.
potter, why your taxes, of course. 😉
Well, agag, understand that help are finally getting thru’ thanks to US Navy George Washington.
The air traffic was so congested over the affected area that US Navy traffic controllers had to turn away at least two planes.
As to gov’t, a quotation from those anarcho-capitalist:
“Robbing and stealing is forbidden as governments fear competition”.
Afternoon folks…
afternoon ll!
Mesut Ozil should not be playing against England on Tuesday.
Good, isn’t it?
Cazorla scored versus Guinea Ecuatorial
Pato to Arsenal? Surely not….
Don’t think Merts is playing either JM, add those to Tomas and Kos, four well rested players….
Dinner calls, will pop back and see if anyone is home, if not, catch up tomorrow….
Anyone home?
Night all….
As someone who annually suffered the ravages of man-flu (Rico, you just don’t understand), I can highly recommend the flu-jab… 🙂
Agag, good to hear that you are well.
I personally will join with the majority of men, in this country, and do my Christmas shopping on the 24th December… 😉
Morning all..
😛 Kev, the jab is certainly the answer… I had mine and immediately after, suffered a horrid cold… pffff…
One for you Kev.
Reports suggest Liverpool have signed Will Hughes. I thought he was heading our way once. Maybe it’s Ince we will get 😉
New post up
Emir Spahic a done deal for next season according to Commentators calling today’s game involving Bosnia, who he captains.
Anyone?
