Arsene confirms at least Four signings will be made! Sagna agrees deal but not with Arsenal.

On This Day 1993: Arsenal beat Sheff Wednesday 2-1 to win the FA Cup, thanks to Andy Linighan’s 119th minute header….

119 minutes!! Sheffield Wednesday!! See, we didn’t make it easy for ourselves back then did we…….

First we have to wait for Sagna – what will he do?

And Fabianski.

After, we have to bring in two or three players. Unfortunately, there are many teams on the market at the minute.

If Arsene Wenger is suggesting that should Sagna and Fabianski stay, he’s going to sign 2/3 players, then that has to be a good start doesn’t it?

I personally believe three is the minimum even if they both remain Arsenal players. (Striker, Winger, HM/DM)

Should they both go and I fully expect them to, that takes the signings to four, maybe five. That’s a big summer ahead but it’s needed……

What about Lukas Podolski and Thomas Vermaelen?

Both are heavily tipped to leave this summer and if do, that raises the number of players we need.

Vermaelen and Podolski divide fans opinion but having just won our first trophy for a while, is it wise to start clearing too many players out or is it better to keep as many of this successful group of players together and add to them after all, lack of depth cost us the league this season.

Are there any players in the Academy truly ready to make the step up and fill the void if both leave?

My answer is no, although Serge Gnabry will surely play a lot more next season but he plays on the right and not in defence so both will have to be replace if they are sold.

Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky are getting on a bit but both can play their part in certain games as the latter more than proved on Saturday.

I can’t see Wenger parting with Diaby either, maybe with just one year left on his contract (I think) he’ll  just see that through and head off somewhere in search of a big deal financially and if the stories are true about him not taking a salary from the club this season, at least him being around is costing us nothing. But he can’t be relied on.

Me, I’d sell a few and have a quite a different looking squad next season but we all know that Arsene Wenger isn’t an advocate of too many changes at any one time.

In which case, sign three players this summer in addition to replacing who leaves and then two more in January.

Simples!

Gossip:

The Daily Star report that Bacary Sagna has agreed a £140,000 a week, three year deal with Manchester City and will sign the paperwork before the World Cup.

The same paper reports that we are close to signing Serge Aurier.

Mario Mandzukic has cleared his locker in Munich which of course means he’s on his way to London. (Yawn)

That’s your lot for Tuesday, have a great day…..

    Good Morning Chappies and Lasses.

    Good summary Rico.

It seems that TommyV is at a crossroads what to do. I feel he will stay. Even Podolski.

  2. Wavy says:

Wenger said a few days ago that neither of them would leave. And I believe everything Wenger says!
If Pod leaves I shall join the Koln supporters club!

  3. S2S says:

    Hey,

It has been a long time. How are you all?

On the basis of what you’re saying my pics for in, out or on loan. I don’t watch as much footy as some of you apart from Arsenal so my pics may be not as popular.

Out: Sagna, Fab, Le Coq, NB, Park, Ryo, JD, Afobe

On loan: Yaya, Serge, Tomas, Hector, Chuba, Aneke (I hope we get to see him in Red and White)

In: Some RB (Serge Aurier most popular), Cesc (If he is to be sold) Carlos Vela (winger/ Striker, did any one see Sociaded Vs Barca? He did not score in that game but he tore Barca a new one that day.), Joel Campbell (I think he’ll play for Arsenal this season) and one DM with Viviano signed as a backup GK.

If we sign one more striker with this lot then it will be great.

I don’t think Verm/ Poldi are going anywhere.

  4. Gonerjoe says:

Morning just thinking would any of us have put on Sanogo instead of poldi on Saturday when we still needed a goal.

  5. bradster says:

    Morning all,

It will be a good time to see who the new coaches (Enrique and van Gaal particularly) don’t feel fit in their vision and snap them up.

I’d take Welbeck on the cheap with Powell or Zaha. Sanchez is still a great one to try get and maybe Delefou as he has prem experience.
Pity with City and Chelsea players is their huge wages.

  6. rico says:

Fellaini, not for me, I honestly thought he’d be good for us but having seen his Man Utd career, no thanks. I sure got that one wrong…..

  7. emmanuel says:

sagna should be allowed to leave if he so wish, he has paid his due in arsenal club. he is no longer the same player we once trust and believed in the defend for us. Good luck with your 140 # man city. Bye Sagna

  8. bradster says:

I still like Felani and feel he could do what Flamini does for us higher up the pitch but not the crazy prices Everton asked.

  9. rico says:

If the Sagna story is true, just sums up how crazy football salaries are. £140,000 a week at his age is daft…

But I guess that’s what happens when players have no signing on fee….

Apart from at Arsenal of course.. 😉

  10. 9 years my Arsenal says:

I think iPod and TV will probably stay (I hope) with Fabi and Bac almost certain to leave. Kallstrom and Viviano will likely return to Spartak and Fiorentina respectively.

Personally I would try to sign:
GK – (I would say Mandanda but he’s out of the WC, we’ll need competition here to keep Sir Szczesny on his toes).
RB – Serge Aurier (Looks a done-deal according to reports).
DM – Martinez (or even Sergi Darder from Malaga).
Winger – Vela or Griezmann (Another area where we lack a pacey threat, with one of these two we can cause most PL defences all sorts of problems and get service to Giroud etc.).
ST – Mandzukic or J.Martinez (A bit pricy but i’m not that keen on Remy, he’s a good back-up but we need proper class up top).

Also Gnabry deserves more game time next year, along with J.Campbell back from his loan spell.

  11. S2S says:

Real trying to loan Morratta to cover for Vela. Loved him when he was here. His special ‘chip’ video..

  12. snaparse says:

hi Rico and everyone…….will be sad to see sagna leave especially to city but if we can get a better right back or someone as good then fine….the thing with sagna was his versatility also but let’s hope we bring in a CD too……Hayden might be a good shout from the academy but I dunno if he will make the jump….

  13. rico says:

    Hi Scott & snaparse…

Vela’s comments in the press would suggest he wants to come back. If the quotes are true of course….

  14. Richard Chinengundu says:

I would have preferred Arsene Wenger stepping down, because he hasn’t got the capacity to manage Arsenal FC competently in the coming season. He has got a record of failing to beat some of the top teams in EPL such as Chelsea under Jose Mourinho. He can not counter the tactics employed by his opponents, Hull City had more clear chance than Arsenal in FA Cup and he won through exceptional individual effort from some players. Most Arsenal supporters have come to believe that their team is forth best in the EPL. Only Arsenal in the history of football could keep an under-performing coach for life because of lack of ambition and fear of the unknown. Machester City replaced Roberto Mancin with Emmanuel Pelgrin, even though the later was not as bad as Arsene Wenger but the change took the team to the top of EPL. The board of Directors for Arsenal FC are novice in the current football world.

  15. blonde Adonis says:

Morning all…let sagna go. We all know why he is heading that way. At least he is not joining the dreaded man scum. Let him go. Serge aurier is a beast both defensively and going forward. Plus get this….He is a huge gooner.

  16. blonde Adonis says:

Plus sometimes sagna gets into good positions but his end ball is a total waste. Trust me you won’t get that with aurier. Men I hope we get him. Just the thought of him and theo on the right side made me jizz in me pants.

  17. blonde Adonis says:

Tricky pacy and a good eye for goal…In 3 months time a lot of gooner ll be like sagna who?

  18. 9 years my Arsenal says:

Cheers Rico, I can see Arsene sending him on loan again, but if he performs well in Brazil then who knows..

  19. Gonerjoe says:

I see FFP is not slowing man city down with £140000 a week for a 31 year old on 3 year contract that’s nearly 23m.

  20. blonde Adonis says:

Right now I ll take aurier a beastly dm like kondogbia sanchez and a goal keeper. Men santi ozster rambo and sanchez ll make a whole lot of teams shit themselves.

  21. George says:

    Good morning from Dubai all,

Good win and a much deserved trophy. Glad we can shove the specialist in faliure back down maureens throat.

I will be sad to see Sagna go, not so much NB52 and Flappers.

Fabianski has improved and was never a bad goalie, just thought Mannone was better and we let him go.

Bendy’s head was never right but he did chip with a few goals , even if they werent worth the 52k a week.

We will be losing more players than signing them.

I expect a few youngsters to be moved on.

Afobe, Ryo, Aneke Miguel will all move on.

Coquelin, Campbell Wellington and Galindo will move on too.

But i’d be very surprised if we kept vermaelen and podolski….both seems to be frustrated at lack of game time.

I think 1 WC striker, a left winger and a right back would do me, perhaps a goalie like the reading one, McCarthy as I dont rate Martinez.

  22. rico says:

I forgot he’s off to Rio, tough group too… If he stays, think I’d rather he and Sanogo went out on loan to a PL Club…

  23. rico says:

Joe, they are offloading a good number of players, all of whom will be on equally as high wages I suspect.

  24. Hell Raising Devil says:

I would like Rodwell as well Rico.

I think he would be a good addition. what do you think?

  25. rico says:

    Hi George and Goonster.

That’s what happens when you change your name Goonie, you end up sitting in moderation….

  26. bradster says:

So we’re seeded in port 1 for CL with Chelsea. Man City is in port 2 and Liverpool 3.

All we need to do now is qualify.

  27. blonde Adonis says:

Well I had too….there’s this tosser using my name. He keeps popping up on every arsenal blog. Don’t want y’all to think it’s me. So am bone Adonis now:grin:

  28. rico says:

Southampton coaches Jason Dodd and Paul Williams – the men behind the club’s stream of starlets – have been sensationally sacked.

Dodd and Williams have steered the careers of the likes of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana through the ranks.

But the pair, both former players, were dismissed in a shake-up by supremo Les Reed yesterday – at a time when the club is set to reap a windfall on their sales.

Dodd and Williams have been with the Saints for years and generally credited of being a major part of the club’s success story with young talent.

But Reed wants to bring in his own people and revamp behind the scenes, with the pair the surprise casualties.

    That’s a shock….

  32. bradster says:

I don’t know that Rico but I’d assume it’s Atletico Bilbao, Porto, Leverkusen, Lille and Napoli. There are a whole lot of rounds to qualifiers and we normally join in the 4th round.

  33. Idealist says:

Hello author…read within the “hidden words” from AW and being Gooners for years you should know this old stingy bastard does not spend unnecessary..so why still letting hope to clouded your readers here? this old French fries is telling you if Fab n Bac is off, he will replace it so that makes 2-3 signings got it!!! You really thinks that he will add more players in the squad? Old habit die hard…this is typical economist specialist just accept it and deal with it…

  34. rogerbij says:

I have no bad words for Sagna if he leaves – always gave 100% and was never on buckets of money. For a long time there he was one I felt we could count on. An FA cup win is the least he deserves. Was a great servant to the club, and no comparison with the RVP debacle.

Regardless of whether Sagna goes or stays I am keen for Aurier. Remember Sagna would also be top cover at central defence too. My point is Wenger dont hang back – make some deals before the WC, and Aurier seems very getable!

  35. NashuaGunners says:

You’re right Rico. And these three could have gave us ‘The Double’ we been craved for the past few years.

  36. Dave says:

Right any moron that says Manduciz have no idea about football what so ever, we already have a big tall donkey up front that gives the ball away more than he retains it so why buy another??? Yeah he has scored goals but the amount of chances Bayern make, his goal amount this season is tiny

We simply need another keeper, (who I dont know – why not Valdes)
RB – (Aurier looks the business)
    CB – (Chiellini or Hummels)
DM – (Vidal or Alex Song)
LW – Sanchez or Di Maria)
    CF – (Benzema)

That is 6 players but we will be selling players anyway, and these additions to the quality we already have, the league is ours and domination of english football for years will be achieved again.

  37. NashuaGunners says:

It payoff ‘Sometimes’ to listen to someone who had been there.

Arsene Wenger must splash out big money this summer if Arsenal are to build on their FA Cup win and go on to enjoy more success.

That is the view of former Gunners boss George Graham, who has branded the club’s current forward options as ‘embarrassing’.

Victory over Hull in Saturday’s FA Cup final earned Arsenal a first trophy in nine years, but Graham has warned Wenger he must overhaul his squad if they are to go on to greater things.

“They have won a trophy. Now they have got to move on and they have got to improve the team. I don’t think there’s any doubt it needs improving,” said Graham, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“Arsenal are a big club and they need to have a mindset which centres around winning more trophies. To do that, they need to improve the team.

“They have got to look at the three parts of the team. In defence, the two centre-halves have been pretty good this year, in little periods they have been excellent, but they are still vulnerable at set-pieces as they showed in the first ten minutes [against Hull].

“They have got a fantastic midfield, probably one of the best in the league, but they need an enforcer in there. They need a strong leader, like another [Patrick] Vieira.

“Up front, it is embarrassing the lack of quality forwards they have got there. They have only had [Olivier] Giroud this season, whose form has been up and down. Although he has been a good signing, his form has not been good enough to [help Arsenal win the title].”

And Graham says any new arrivals must be ‘special’ proven players worth up to £50million.

“They have built a fantastic training facility and a new stadium, which both cost a fortune, and there is no excuse now,” he continued.

“They apparently have a lot of money to spend and they need to spend it very wisely and buy special players. Maybe players that are going to cost £30million, £40million, £50million, rather than taking a chance on a £10million or £12m player.

“If they have the money now, let’s get the special players in. Especially forward wise, they need somebody special. There are a few teams who are going to be in the hunt [for the title] next season to win it and they have got the special forwards.”

-he gives the ball away in dangerous places
-he is lazy and can’t track back

“I would have preferred Arsene Wenger stepping down, because he hasn’t got the capacity to manage Arsenal FC competently in the coming season”.

Sorry you forgot to say what makes you qualified to make such a statement, please tell.

Or perhaps you’re just one of these (many) people who without any training, knowledge, experience, abilty or expertise goes into hospital for a heart transplant and because you saw one being done on TV once proceeds to tell the surgeon how to do his job.

Or perhaps your just self-opinionated and actually know nothing but like to pretend………….join the black scarf movement and go and talk to like minded people.

  41. rico says:

Idealist – not really sure AW needs to be called such names but if that’s what you want to do, I can recommend a very good website for you…

Of course the past has not been the best when it comes to signings but just maybe this could be the summer of change.

Open mind is possibly the best thing at the moment…

  42. Idontpretendtoknowitall says:

    @NashuaGunners

George Graham taking bribes……now that’s embarrassing!

  43. NashuaGunners says:

Rico. careful for what you wish for. Sony could be our redeemer; just what we been waiting for.

  44. rico says:

Dave – we here on HH, don’t do things like calling fellow fans ‘morons’ just for having a view…

After all, suggesting Song coming back might just tempt a few fans to call you the same…..

  45. rico says:

No way should we even entertain bring Alex ‘the lump’ Song back Ng…..Imo of course 😉

  46. Gonerjoe says:

Evening just finished 4 hours of paper work with a quick read of comments I see we have an advocate for Song. Not sure that will work but they don’t seem very happy with the manager or some of it’s fans.

  47. rico says:

    Welcome Idontpretendtoknowitall…

Everyone is welcome on here and everyone has a view and are free to express it.

Just for the record, I hoped AW would win the FA Cup and walk away with his head held high because he deserves to..

Ok, we have our trophy but some of the football we have witnessed this season alone has been awful and because of his stubbornness in the transfer window last summer, players have been over played and suffered either injury or lack of form…

If he signs up for another 3 years then I sure hope he’s ready to sort the squad out and deploy a few up to date tactics because if he doesn’t, he’ll be in for a lot of stick….

  48. Gonerjoe says:

When I was driving home from work yesterday I was listing to talkshite radio to see how the lover of all things Arsenal would treat the FA cup win. Well nor very well they had an Arsenal fan? Who was hoping we would lose the match they had 4-5 fans on by the time I stopped listening not one was all that happy.
So it makes me think they have a list of callers that they put on with an agenda against the club.

  49. Adam says:

Evening Rico. It has been dry all day here. You are right about Arsene I think. He has the players, the time and the money to do great things now. I hope he uses all those things for the benefit of the club and puts his personal feelings about spending money aside.
Seems strange to be watching the first domestic International cricket of the season. Same old problems though. Too short from the bowlers.

  50. rico says:

Evening Adam. He’ll never have a better chance will he?

Thanks for nudging me about the cricket… I’d forgotten…

  51. Gonerjoe says:

It’s some radio station I was put on to by a Chelsea fan nice guy was fan long before the Russian exploiter of the Russian people’s wealth.
I think it comes from the basement of a spurs fan according to the signal strength and it’s non-partisan views:)
I don’t know why because by the time I got home I would have swung for that idiot Durham. But he used a cup final ticket that could have gone to real Arsenal or Hull fan.

  52. Gonerjoe says:

Not sure I do either but as a firm believer in all soughts of conspiracy theories I wanted to see how they would deal with they don’t have it’s nine…. You know the rest. The fact is the match had one of the worst referring performances ever in the FA cup final and the media don’t ask why.

  53. potter says:

    Idontpretendtoknowitall,

I am glad that you used that name as you obviously know very little about the BSM movement.

No doubt you have been influenced by other people that are happy to spread misinformation and they have helped you form your erroneous opinion..

I think you will find that the BSM have criticised the board re ticket prices, and the way the club is run regarding catering and the way that the fans are treated by the club.

They have however stressed on many occasions that they are not a Wenger out organisation and have been at pains to state that it is not their place to pick the manager. I am not a member but I have taken the time to read their manifesto and found that I have sympathy for quite a few of their aims. This is just a portion of their open letter to Gazidis

“”As a group we have been concerned for some time that the Board running our club has lost sight of the raison d’être i.e. we are Arsenal Football Club; not a business purely focused on posting profits year after year.

You will have seen the results of our end of season survey, which came out in favour of Arsene Wenger but with 70% stating that he has too much control over transfer negotiations and setting of wage levels at the club. The same survey revealed that 87% of fans feel the current Board of Arsenal is out of touch with the feeling among fans, and that 73% feel less valued by the club since we moved stadium.””

Should you wish to read more try :- http://www.blackscarfafc.co.uk/bsm-write-to-gazidis.html

Remember Wenger is not omnipotent although many believe that he is and that there was an Arsenal long before he came and there will be one long after he has gone.

  54. potter says:

disingenuous rectal sphincter :- trying to get this in the New Oxford Dictionary , it basically means Adrian Durham.

  55. Sukky says:

Song will be better if he return for free.Is mandzukic that good?I don’t rate him,his hold up play is not better than girouds and he’s slow.He will struggle in EPL in my opinion.Remy will be good and I think joel campell will be better on the RW agains teams that park the fucking bus.Vela too huh?I will always love sagna,no matter what.

  56. potter says:

Can’t see the price making any difference to Song . He wasn’t good enough before and even getting him in a raffle would be a backward step.

  57. rico says:

I’ll have to take your word on that about Durham Potter, or google the meanings… 😉

Sukky, Song was very average before, why anyone thinks he’d be any different now amazes me. He is far from what this current side needs. Barca didn’t play him for a reason…

  58. Gonerjoe says:

    Potter
It was like you where painting a picture in words with your description of Durham.

  59. Gonerjoe says:

The fact is why would we want a player who demanded to leave the club is not what we need we have 9 midfield players better than him at the club already.

  60. Gonerjoe says:

    Potter
    Thanks
The thing is about the BSM is and it’s not there fault they are included by the media and the real hard core Wenger out brigade as part of the same movement.
But to my mind they are doing a good job reminding the club that it is a football club first and foremost.

  61. Bt62 Gooner says:

Spot on Potter, many in the BSM have different views on Wenger, people should learn more and stop tarring them, with the one brush. Evening all in the da house. As for Song, no thank you, just my opinion.

  62. NashuaGunners says:

If I may ask, who are these ‘9 midfield players’ (DM) that are better than Song? Mind you, take into consideration of games played, assists, goals scored and covered at CB.

  63. rico says:

    Mine too Bt..

Ng, Martinez of Munich and Southamptons Morgan Schneiderlin are two…

Lars or Sven Bender are another option

Not sure where ‘9’ came from…

  64. NashuaGunners says:

Rico. The comment was “There are 9 midfielders better than Song at the club?” Not in the league but the club.

So I ask who are these 9 players, and to take into account those attributes I listed.

  65. Gonerjoe says:

Song is not a DM to my mind he is not disciplined enough to hold he’s position in midfield to protect the back 4 why do think barcelona want to let him go.So therefore Arsenal have 9 midfield players better than him at the club.

  66. NashuaGunners says:

Who are these 9 midfield players at the club that are better than Song?

Factor in games played during a season, assists, goals scored and can covered as CB.

  67. rico says:

Ah, it was you then joe…

Having 9 midfielders better than Song is not difficult, but as far as comparing like for like, we don’t even have a proper DM in our current squad.

  68. potter says:

The number is immaterial really , Song is not our future ,he should remain consigned to our past.

  69. rico says:

No, he’s not joe, but he thinks he is…

He’s merely a very average midfielder who got lucky because Rvp was so good he could find his through balls….

  70. Gonerjoe says:

As you can see I don’t want Song back the money should be spent on an out and out DM player.
One who will get a nose bleed if he crosses the half way line.

  71. potter says:

Song never had the discipline to be a top midfielder . He ball watched , drifted out of position and allowed to people to go past him and did not follow. He got too close to people with the ball and gave away too many free kicks.

  72. NashuaGunners says:

Potter. Agree, Song is the past. We should be aiming higher than Song if we want to win the PL. Arsenal should be ready to dish out the cash to compete just as GG said.

But the facts are the facts.

  73. NashuaGunners says:

Potter. When Song was in the Squad JW flourish and everyone thinks he is world class.

  74. Scott From Oz says:

Rico, can we ban anyone bloody crazy enough to suggest Alex Song returns??
You often wonder if those making these comments actually ever saw him play in the Arsenal kit.
    Morning all.
    Evening all.
    Whatever suits 🙂

  75. Scott From Oz says:

    Oh, and Nash, George Graham?
Why would you quote him….another with an axe to grind.
Next up well hear from Durham, Robson………………….

  76. NashuaGunners says:

Scott. Which one of GG comments? The one which its said embarrassing to challenge for the PL with just one Striker or Arsenal should spend and go big for quality players?

Btw, When Ramsey was giving the ball away and running all over the pitch, I don’t remember one suggested to ban you? Defending AR16 those days was bloody crazy.

  77. NashuaGunners says:

If I hadn’t watched Song played in an Arsenal shirt I would thought he was the worse defensive midfielder in the BPL or the world. The guy has if not, the best stat in the PL and played most in Arsenal games. Never frequent the treatment table.

  78. Scott From Oz says:

Nash, it was tongue in cheek mate.
How long have we been posting here?
Apologies, but I thought you’d know my humour better by know.

  79. NashuaGunners says:

No need for apologies Scott. I knew you were pulling my legs that why I mention Ramsy.

But no matter what GG has done in the past what he said make sense.

  80. Scott From Oz says:

Yeah, I know but I can’t take comments some of these that left on bad terms make.
They are so bitter, and can barely raise an eyebrow win things go well, yet are straight in front of a microphone when we mess up.

  81. potter says:

Stats can be very misleading because like a survey you only get answers to the question asked. We all have thoughts on players and there is no right or wrong just opinions. I watched Song from my lofty position in the ground and using my eyes and my footballing knowledge gained over many years of watching and playing conclude that in my opinion and that’s all it is. He was never good enough for me. When Barca came in and offered the sum they did I too would have snatched their hands off.I can’t see the club welcoming him back and i would be extremely disappointed if they did.

  82. allezkev says:

    Evening Rico, marvellous post… 😉

    Hmm, scrambled egg…

    Adam, how was Wiltshire?

    Morning Scott.
    Night Adam.
Blonde Adonis? Stan, give me a break… 😀
    Night Wath.
    Night Rocky, wtf are you?
    Morning Lee.

    Night All…

  83. Scott From Oz says:

Potter, he’d set up a world class goal, but then conced three in the next few matches by walking back to position.
I was joking when I said those talking him up should be banned of course, but my opinion on him never changed.
He is over rated, lazy and irresponsible, in my opinion.

  84. Micko says:

Scott, unsolicited gifts or brown paper bags under the table you decide, can’t deny he gave us some great memories as both a player and a manager, ruined it all by defecting to the scum……..

  85. Wavy says:

WATH will have caught the posting too quickly disease! As one gets older ones touch becomes heavier and less sensitive so posting becomes far more certain, deliberate and often violent and hence pressing the ‘button’ too aggressively rejoins with the newsnow response ” you are posting too quickly”. I’ve heard it all before,in a slightly different context, but then haven’t we all? It’s a man thing!!!

As for Song he was a lazy, idle little loafer! Trained poorly, was not a team player, frequently late for training and generally poorly motivated! Want him back? Certainly not! £15m took the money and ran. An excellent deal! Leave him to fester. It’s what he’s best at!
Now Cesc is would be a different kettle of fish, as would resigning Vela. Why was he ever sold? He was a boy doing what boys often do, growing up. He’s mature one, a man! Let’s get the man back and treat him properly, he will deliver, of that I’m certIn.
Cesc is a class act providing Le Chef can find a role for him?

Time for bed. Here endeth the rant!

  86. Micko says:

True wavy, but your forgetting song was arsene’s favourite son, thank goodness abou was there to fill the void, without him I very much doubt we would have gone on to win the fa cup this year.
    Nite Gooners, keep it real.

  87. NashuaGunners says:

I love my Gunner-mates. That’s why HH have become addicted to all of us. Once we take into you (player) we’ll stand beside you and defend you, no matter what. I just love to hear their opinions through reading when they speak their minds about certain players. And I do respect all the opinions even though we disagree.
    We just see things differently.

Some will welcome Cesc back no matter how he left us. Always on the treatment table, crying to home and refusing to play with all the excuses in the books. How many times has he been on the treatment table since he left?

Alex Song: He’s over-rate,lazy and irresponsible. Gave the ball away in dangerous places, idle little loafer and never track back. And I love this one “He thinks he’s world class…”

  88. Wavy says:

Nash world class players are hewn from stone! Song was hewn from a tune, that’s why he’s so light weight and palpably not class at all!

  89. NashuaGunners says:

Lol. Wavy are we talking about the same Alex Song, the guy with the ‘Killer passes’? 🙂

  90. Scott From Oz says:

Or the guy who couldn’t tackle a good feed, which is not a great negative when playing the role of DM.
Maybe the guy who simply never chased back when losing possession…..

  91. NashuaGunners says:

Scott I just knew you would come back. But I was surprise Kev never came into the ring. He once said no more Song for him.

  92. Lee says:

Song?? Glad to see the back of that fucktard!
I’d have Cesc back (sorry WATH) but is he what we need right now?
    We need a clinical finisher!
We need a a beast of a DM.
    That’s just for starters….

  93. Busobozi Nicholas says:

i think wenger would have retained sagna. poldi en fabianski should not leave. arsenal nids top players like vela, madzukic, song, mandanda, among others. congs 4 fA glory.

  94. rico says:

No-one has gone yet Bn, but if Sagna wants £140,000 a week, he isn’t going to get it at Arsenal…

Song? Been there, done it, and it didn’t work…. No thanks!

  95. tsgh says:

    Morning rico and all…

Subotic is free? now I have heard it all.. 😛

He resigned a new 3 year contract with bvb last year..

Ng, you see I satayed away from the Song debate yesterday.. 😛

  96. tsgh says:

A few years ago I thought Boro could poach his fellow country man over to thi side but Boro does nothing at the club … 🙂

  97. rico says:

    Morning Ts and Scott..

I was only asking about Subotic, Wikki said he’s out of contract…

  98. potter says:

I have often wondered what his purpose is at Arsenal , I thought cone man following Houston and Rice but apparently he is Wenger’s translator rather as Mourinho was to Bobby Robson.

  99. potter says:

Nashua you want Song back to float those passes to our now non moving centre forward . So then we would have to buy someone else to do the thigs that he was meant to be doing before he wandered forward and abandoned his job.

  100. tsgh says:

Potter, Song even made Ox have his best game with us as a DM.
Song was not a dm imo.
I don’t want him back though
    ..

  101. potter says:

Thing is if you are picked to do a job you do it. I was never a left back but had to play there a few times due to injury. Mentally I tied a piece of string to our goal post and never crossed the half way line and kept in line with my centre backs. Very difficult for a natural left sided midfield attacker. If Song was told to stay and protect his back four then that was his job . Chances are however no such instruction was given and he did not have the brains to realise that was what was needed.

  102. tsgh says:

Jw,ma08 were the deep lying players though…
I think its all about perceptions. Its like community saying yaya is a dm but he is an am.whilst its the other way round

  103. rico says:

Potter, think you are right re no instructions and Song not having a brain.

His better place, other than on the bench, was in defence… imo.

  104. Wolfgang says:

As well as getting some new guys,Wenger shd also look into the tactical side. The gunners were easily demolished by the top 3 and Everton and finished bottom o f the top 5 sides.
If Wenger harbours epl honours he better make sure no more humiliating defeats aginst top sides will be repeated. Otherwise
he can say goodbye to winning the epl.
I fear he will carry on his possession soccer when RM blew up BM so easily. His record against MU is poor and will remain so till he changes his tactics.

  105. rico says:

Wolfgang, agree re tactics but maybe once he has the right players in things will change.

Can’t play a quick game without quick players….
