Arsenal whittle it down to nine. Fraser and Umtiti links grow..

Morning all.

End of season always brings with it a recap. Who deserves the player of the season, who improved the most, who scored the most and of course, who scored the best goal. Alexandre Lacazette has already scooped the player of the season gong, Aubameyang scored the most goals for the club and in the league but the goal of the season is still to be decided. Arsenal have whittled it down to nine contenders and there’s still time to vote for your choice on the official website.

Here are your choices.

Alex Lacazette v Cardiff (a)
Alex Lacazette v Everton (h)
Aaron Ramsey v Fulham (a)
Mesut Ozil v Leicester (h)
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang v Leicester (h)
Granit Xhaka v Crystal Palace (a)
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang v Tottenham (h)
Aaron Ramsey v Tottenham (a)
Mesut Ozil v Crystal Palace (h)
How does one one judge a great goal anyway? Individual brilliance, the buildup rather than the finish, or perhaps even on its importance alone? I guess that depends on the person casting the vote.
I’ve watched the rerun of them and they’re all really good. It’s a tough choice that’s for sure but I’m hoping another one or two my be in the running by this time on Thursday morning. Perhaps another stunner from Aubameyang, Lacazette or Ozil. A thunderbolt from Xhaka or a towering header from one of our centre backs. Saying that, I couldn’t care less who scores our winner or how as long as we win.

We’ll be without Mkhitaryan of course because of issues away from football and rumour is Arsenal hope to move him on sharpish. He’s 30 years old so we’re unlikely to get much of a transfer fee for him but at least we’ll remove his reported £180k a week wage off our bill. Captain Laurent Koscielny could be on his way too as reports suggest they’ll be no new contract offer on the table. Goodness only knows if that’s true but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. L’Equipe reckon he fancies a new challenge anyway. Unlike Mustafi who’s been quoted as saying:

‘It is odd that there are always transfer speculations, I am an Arsenal player and have a contract until 2021.’

No, what’s odd would be him still being at Arsenal come the start of the new season, in fact if Charlie Nicholas had his way, we’d have a whole new back line in the team. A right back and centre back would be a good start that’s for sure, and a midfielder or two and a couple of wingers. A keeper too. Not that I think that’ll happen despite the positive comments coming out of the club.

We’re after Ryan Fraser though and as soon as the Europa Cup is done and dusted, we’ll be making our move. Seriously? If Arsenal want Fraser, they’d have made their move by now and they’ll be thrashing out a deal. If they weren’t, another club might nip in and beat us to it. They might anyway and of course, there’s always a chance that we’re not interested in him anyway. The joys of a summer transfer window and the British media eh…

Mind you, I reckon this Fraser story might have legs to it. Can’t say the same about Umtiti though….

Have a great weekend guys….

It will be influence in the constitution of the teams

My favourite goal was Aubameyang at the Emirates against Toots, hit a screamer first time, what an exhilarating game.
I find it hard to get too excited about Wednesday. Its so important we win,but there’s still the sickening possibility of that lot winning the Champions League.
On top of all the nonsense of Baku.
I swear I will sleep better after Liverpool win, and I don’t even like them, can’t stand em,but will make an exception that night.

Talking about transfers. Callum Chambers has just won Fulham s player of the season. I like him & think we should at least give him another year with us to see how he goes. But I know many fans want to sell him. What do you all think?

    Morning all.
    Keep Chambers for sure, imo.
The quality from start to finish of the Ramsey goal v Fulham was just ridiculous, so it’s the winner for mine.
Every touch, pass and flick had to be absolutely perfect, and they were.

  5. Limey says:

I would like to see Chambers given a chance for sure, either as a centre back, or as a defensive midfielder. If it doesn’t work out, we could sell him this time next year.
He’s on a long contract, if Brexit ever happens as JM says, Chambers will be one of our few saleable assets.

Hi there, my best goal is Alexander Lacazette Vs Liverpool at the Emirates, best game too in my opinion. Followed by Ramsey Vs Fulham at Craven cottage.

I thought Xhaka’s goal against Man Utd where the ball moved mid air and glued De Gea to the spot he was so far from saving the ball he might as well have been in Baku
