Arsenal to benefit from Ake transfer?

Morning all.

Nathan Ake moving to Man City for £41 million is good news for Arsenal I think. We’ve two English centre-backs, both with experience and both saleable. Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are good players but neither have set the world alight when fit. I might sound harsh but if Mari and Mustafi had been fit, I doubt Mikel Arteta would have selected Holding for the last couple of fixtures, nor would he be lining up against Chelsea tomorrow. That’s my opinion anyway. Chambers being injured doesn’t help him or the club but I still believe if a club comes in for him with a good price, Arsenal will sell. The same applies to quite a number of our players I think. Man City paying such a big transfer fee for a central defender whose club has just been relegated has suddenly boosted the transfer market for Arsenal.

We are rich in young English players and not all of them will make it. All Premier League clubs need homegrown players and they come with a hefty price tag.

If Arsenal and Mikel Arteta feel that the likes of AMN, Nelson, Willock, Chambers, Holding and even Bellerin, who is classed as home grown, isn’t the future, then there’s a lot of money to be made by selling them but only to another English club. The newly promoted clubs might be interested because they’ll be rich after receiving the windfall which comes with securing Premier League football.

I’m an old romantic when it comes to football because for long now, I’ve hoped that Arsenal would produce their own players at the same time as getting back to challenging for the league and of course, that might yet happen but unless the board are ready to free up a few hundred million pounds, selling players is the only way to raise money for new ones who are either better, or more advanced in their game.

I could be totally wrong though, Mikel Arteta might have more faith in those I’ve listed above, he might believe they just need more time to grow, in which case, we’ll see a lot more of them next season. After all, we don’t just need eleven players. Keeping them all happy will be the difficulty and some will already be getting itchy feet because all they want to do is play football.

If by chance we can beat Chelsea tomorrow in the FA Cup, being in the Europa League will give more squad players game time as well as those expected to make the step up from the under 23’s to the first team squad.

It’s not just the English players who can raise money for the club. We have a lot who individually might not raise much for Mikel Arteta to use on strengthening his squad but collectively, they will. Torreira, Elneny, Mkhitaryan, Sokratis, Kolasinac, Guendouzi and Ozil to name a few. Potentially, there’s £80-100 million worth of player sales there. Throw in Lacazette and/or Aubameyang and Arsenal won’t know what to do with so much money.

Firstly though, just go and win the FA Cup.

That’s what I’m banking on Rico and morning to you as well.

Yeah, I can see the point you’re making over Ake, we do tend to undervalue our players when everyone else is asking fortunes for theirs.

Take the guy who plays centre half for Brighton, his name escapes me, but he’s their capt I think, imagine what Brighton would want if Arsenal enquired about him, £40m, £50m, more?
    Dunk, that’s it…

Yet Brighton, who are strongly linked to Ainsley Maitland Niles would probably think that they could take him for £18m, £20m perhaps and many Arsenal fans would say, yeah sell him, but not me. I reckon that Arsenal should ask £35m minimum and probably more as we don’t really want to sell him do we?

    Morning Rico and All
Minefield young talent the coaching, team mates and a bit of luck can make clubs regret decisions to early if not used enough
Goalkeepers,Centrehalfs,Centremide and forwards core players if you like get better with age Don’t they
Micky knows he has to convince the older stars to buy into his plans.
One thing I do know is.
It’s easier to coach defending than it is to open up a game I’m sure Micky knows that
He has to find the player brave enough and good enough to carry us forward we can’t keep sitting back against good sides for one over the top also getting done on the break with weaker sides.
Anyway from what we’ve seen we should have enough for fat frank
Let’s hope when we score all the bench go Crackers.

Morning Fred, I hope you’re right re tomorrow. 8 worry about the threat of Giroud and the trickery of the American. Someone needs to stick to the latter like glue.

    Good morning all.

Well one player who is not leaving, at least as far as his agent is concerned, is Ozil who is happy to see out his contract at Arsenal.

Thanks Arsene and Ivan for lumbering us with the most expensive bench warmer in the history of football.

I can’t see Chambers being sold in this window, if only due to his injury, January maybe but why sell good players in a depressed transfer market.

Hi Rico and all A lot of people said big pay days are a thing of the past now due to the virus but from what I’M reading it seem clubs and players are still asking for top Money.

  6. Aussie Geoff says:

I noticed Arteta has asked our under 23 goal keeper to train with the senior team
not only have we got our top 2 goal keepers pushing each other now we have a 3rd keeper starting to push the future looks great for us in the goal keeper department.

    Good read, Rico, thank you!
We’d be cuckoo to sell AMN.. there’s plenty of others we should be showing the door 😉

Big money taken on Coutinho to Arsenal this morning. The Brazilian is into 1/2 to sign for Arsenal with the bookies.

Will this happen?? It’s crazy, what with us being skint and other areas desperately needing upgrading!

    Afternoon guys.

Coutinho will open doors for our front men. Thought we’d go for someone younger but I guess the club know wha they’re doing. 😂 😂

Thanks Sue, I reckon so too.

Hi Geoff. Maybe the season being completed changed things.

  13. frednerk says:

Thanks for the offer Potter but my grandchildren need a beach sounds very nice though we’ve been looking for a couple of years but dilled and dallied and missed out on a couple I know about a dozen people who have just moved and some in a few weeks Cheers again

  14. potter says:

Well if you need a short term whilst a deal is going through . Let us know we might be able to help. Be careful about being too close to the sea as there are a number of places where coastal erosion is happening.
