Arsenal signing Yarmolenko & Isco? Injuries starting to help Arsenal?

Morning all.

According to The Express, Arsenal have been told they can land unsettled Real Madrid attacker Isco for just £25 million. That means we’ll offer £20 million and a pound and hope for the best.

If that doesn’t excite you, this will, honest.

Reports coming out of Russia suggest that we’ve agreed a deal to sign Andriy Yarmolenko. £23 million is the figure for the player who Roberto Martinez tried to sign for Everton not too long ago. I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in this story but somehow, I doubt it.

Sport.ua are responsible for breaking this news, sorry, making up this story and if by chance they are right, he won’t be arriving at Arsenal until the summer. That part of the story makes sense as Dynamo Kiev are still in the Champions League so any move now would mean his European football for the season would be over. Mind you, it could be over soon in any case as Kiev have to play Man City in the knock-out stages.

Taking of City, they suffered a huge injury blow last night when Kevin de Bruyne was stretchered off during their 3-1 victory over Everton in the Capital One Cup. Sad for them, good for us and as much as I know that sounds selfish, I bet no City fans were feeling bad for Arsenal when week after week our players were dropping like flies because of injuries. Most were long-term too. Just a shame Aguero didn’t fall over and sprain his ankle too.

But it’s interesting really, just as clubs around us are now suffering injuries, (Vertonghen for Totts) ours are coming back. Alexis has already returned, Tomas is pretty much ready having played for the under 21’s and perhaps most importantly, Francis Coquelin is in full training which is remarkable really. Danny Welbeck isn’t far away from a return too which is good news and then there’s Jack and Santi although there’s been no update on their expected return date. Mohammed Elneny has had a couple of weeks training with his new team-mates so he too should soon make an appearance.

So perhaps we are over the worst times of the season and let’s be honest, if November was bad, January so far has almost matched it as far as performances and results go but the injury situation has greatly improved.

Perhaps an almost fully fit squad will see much improved performances and results from now through to May because we all know what this team can play like when their aren’t so many players fighting for Diaby’s old bed…

Fingers crossed…

Morning Andrew – he’s an expert isn’t he. This must happen nearly every January.

Thank goodness he didn’t know Coquelin was returning so soon… 😉

  2. Messi says:

    LOL “Diaby’s old bed”.

Yarmolenko is a very good player in Europe but I doubt we’re after him and does he have what it takes to make it in the premier league is another thing. The only way I can believe this story is that agreeing a fee now will be cheaper and easier as the euros in the summer will bump up the prices of every player so it’s a smart move.

Coquelin back in full training is one of the reasons why I feel we’ll start hitting form again at the right time and man how much we miss Santi too! The main reason why we couldn’t create anything or play our football at Southampton.
I can’t help but to feel positive and confident, but I am a little worried about Ozil considering Wenger plays him for the full 90 every game and he’ll be crucial for Germany at the euros too. Hopefully Rosicky coming in will rotate with him in the last 10-15 minutes of games but I doubt it though.

Welcome Messi – are you a gooner or Barca fan? 😉

Once you wrote ‘smart move’ – kind of rules AW out.. lol

Ozil should get a rest on Saturday but don’t forget he had a match day off just a week ago so hopefully, he’s nowhere near the red zone.

    Good post.
    From previous page…

Not sure why Bolton taught AW’s bid for Cahill was bad when he had less than a year to goon his contract.

    Oddly, the player left for the same amount that we bidded (£8m) 4 months later; If bolton had accepted our money they could have strengthened with the cash;
Instead they opted to keep a player who did not want to be there and theywere already in a relegation battle…

Another example of the media and ex-pros anti-AW and anti Arsenal stance…

They thought after the 8-2 loss at Yanited we should be spending £20m on cahill.. because he is English.

Nolito to Arsenal: Gunners preparing ‘last-minute’ bid for Celta Vigo forward in the January transfer window…

    According to the Independent…

    Isn’t it exciting…

  6. tsgh says:

That is what Owen Cowell said;even though AW saidwe offered more than that…
Bolton valued him at minimum of £8m apparently so even at £6m it was not a bad offer… that was when negotiation comes it I would have supposed…

  7. allezkev says:

    But wait…????

Real Madrid midfielder Isco is believed to be available for £25m if Arsenal wish to sign him in the summer, although they will face competition from Manchester City should they follow up their interest with an official offer.

    According to the Irish Independent…

    Hang on a minute;

Arsenal agree £23m fee for prolific international star

ARSENAL have agreed a £23m fee for Dynamo Kiev ace Andriy Yarmolenko, according to reports.

  9. allezkev says:

Rico, isn’t it exciting, where are we going to fit in all these new players?

Nolito, Yarmoldnky (?), Isco, and don’t forget Chilwell….

I know that Adam is on the edge of his settee, waiting for all the good news.

And Lee is beside himself with excitement.

    Wenger must get a new contract… ?

  10. Micko says:

If only a few more on here would show a little bit more faith in Arsene.
Kev, obviously we won’t sign all 4 of them but Nolito, Yarmolenko and Isco are real possibilities imo.

  11. Micko says:

Not surprisingly, a lot of Irish supporters happy to see De Bruyne in a crumpled heap as well, in the nicest possible way off course ! He deserves the summer off, feet up in front of the box watching the Euro’s.

  12. tsgh says:

Micko, you dont have to make it so obvious you stuck a needle into the voodoo doll to see ”De Bruyne in a crumpled heap”… 😉

  13. rico says:

Adam, I thought you were already there? lol

Bolton valued Cahill at £12 million Ts, we offered £6m – IF the media reports are true. Not sure I’d take AW on his word though, not when he spins us so many false hopes..

Kev. I can barely contain myself….

    Afternoon all…

  14. rico says:

Trouble is Ts, it’s all media speculation about money but Coyle was pretty cheesed off so there must have been a reason for that I guess…

  15. tsgh says:

    True Rico…

AW was also cheesed of for making the bid public… I think at that time we had Per in the pipe-line and so, we were ‘chancing’ our luck.

  16. rico says:

I read about that too Ts, Merts talks were taking place at the same time but I wonder if we’d have pulled the plug on that deal had Cahill arrived….

  17. Adam says:

Yes Rico. I had all the intrigue and fascination of a CH boiler service this afternoon. But I had a nice dinner and am now on the couch.

  18. allezkev says:

So that three players we’ve signed today…

I can’t wait to see how many we’re gonna be signing tomorrow.

Lee, my virgin was very good. A very neat, tidy job.

    Night All

  19. allezkev says:

    Morning All…

It’s a windy ol’ day out there, in London Town

Big game for Van Gaal tonight, a draw and the need for a replay would be handy…

Ospina or Cech in goal tomorrow?

    Who leads the attack?

    Who partners Elneny?

Coquelin and Alexis on the bench?

    Gabriel partners who?

  20. tsgh says:

Everyone you expect to be in training was in training yesterday. AW says le Coq is available so he might get a start.

    Morning Rico, Kev and all

  21. rico says:

Debuchy is leaving according to AW so I doubt he’ll start tomorrow. Crazy if you ask me and putting a lot of pressure on young Bellerin…
