Morning all.
Back in 1979 and on this very day, Arsenal beat Man Utd 3-2 to win the FA Cup – Alan Sunderland scoring a dramatic last-minute winner! We could do we the same result next Sunday, especially after last nights shocking result.
A game we should have won turned out to be a game we lost.
A team which had overcome many of it’s problems, reverted back to the team which had problems.
A team which lacked width and pace going forward in 2014, was reborn.
A team which can’t place a shot either side of a goalkeeper reappeared.
We bossed that game last night but yet again we didn’t make possession count, just like we did before the turn of the year. 59 minutes went by before we had a shot on target. Disgraceful!
The defending for their goal was shoddy to say the least as was the attempted save by Ospina.
All the talk from the manager recently has been about how strong this squad is, how he doesn’t need to sign many players in this summer transfer window and if only we hadn’t started the season so badly with injuries and results. Well last night showed that all is not quite as good as he thought.
Pass after pass after pass, players stifling each other down the middle of the pitch instead of using the wings. Not shooting when the goal is in sight preferring another short pass instead was our downfall.
Fabianski man of the match? Well someone is having a laugh because all he did was catch what came right at him. Did he really make any spectacular saves? I don’t think so.
Swansea did park the bus but so what, we have to stop using that excuse for our inability to break down a side which comes to the Emirates with the intention of not losing.
What Arsene Wenger needs to do is find a way to beat that system and until he does, things will never change.
Sunderland and West Brom head to The Emirates before the end of this month and it’s looking like we’ll have to win both to secure 3rd place so best he and the players find a solution fast because neither of those two sides will want to lose either.
I hope that result gives the manager and players a timely kick up the jacksie before heading off to Old Trafford…
I would say have a good day all, however……
Great post rico
Morning all.
We had enough chances to win half a dozen games.
I thought Wenger got a few things wrong, but, I lay blame on professional footballers who consistently hit a man on the chest.
It was simply the worst display of finishing I remember seeing.
Apart from that, we were great….nah, crap lol.
Lethargic.
Slow.
Boring.
Unimaginative.
All the things we are when we play poorly.
Same old, same old.
Rico, I lay blame on Nacho for their goal.
He may as well have given the guy a lift…….no effort to earned whatsoever.
Still, he’s not the reason we lost.
Oh and I told you I hated technology 🙂 🙂
Thanks Drake.
Scott, I do wonder what AW tells the players and then wonder what the players do themselves. Sometimes it looks like the players really do take it on themselves to do what they choose.
When Ramsey is told to play on the right, why is he always seen central, same with Alexis last night. The middle of the park was so congested at times yet not one player got hold of the ball at ran, either through the middle or down the wings. We made it so easy for Swansea to defend…
At old toilet i want a balanced team
The ball should never have got as far as Nacho but he sure could have jumped… Ospina could have done a whole lot better too but that’s being picky. We lost the game in our attacking game, the defence had so little to do, the must have switched off…
I’ve honestly never seen so many shots hit a keeper on the chest.
It was incredible.
I was just laughing the last few times.
Rico, and I’m being picky with Nacho.
He’s been brilliant, and yes, the ball should never have been there.
Still, it was disappointing, as they all were.
Just hope it’s a wake up call Scott.. Or reality check might be better… lol
Rico, I reckon it’s been coming for a few weeks.
Excellent summary of last nights proceedings.
imho – The atmosphere in Ems last night spilled unto the pitch imho…
A friend I attended game with assumed just needed to turn up…; he ended up blaming AW again for not preparing the team well.. 🙂
Scott- I concur with your 10:00
Well, 3 games left so at least 3rd is still in our hands Scott, but we sure have to step up again..
Ts – or the way the team played spilled onto the ‘terraces’?
it was a good performance from the guys although a little slow. Luck was not on our side yesterday. It will be unfair blaming it to the guys.
Hi Rico
You’re absolutely right about the width – we needed someone to stay out right to stretch the defence. Having said that I can’t really complain about the way we played, we created good chances against a packed defence but didn’t take one of them, which is a problem we haven’t had for a while.
You can’t blame Ospina for the goal, sometimes you get a perfect cross and a perfectly placed inch-perfect header, but we should have had the game won by then.
Brian.
Drake, what was wrong with that team last night? Those players have been winning for a while. The problem wasn’t the team selection imo, it’s what individuals did or didn’t do on the night.
Probably rico
I don’t think we played badly… I just think we were very ineffective.
We did not create many clear cut chances. I might be wrong btw.
Rico , I have never met you but this morning I can’t help thinking that should we meet in a pub someday the conversation would be very stilted . We would just sit there and nod in agreement. We are all looking for a way to express the recurring rhetoric in new ways. Maybe Wenger’s public announcement that there is not likely to be a massive squad strengthening had the wrong effect and those on the pitch felt safe and relaxed.
Very frustrating. The first half was clearly not incisive enough. They defended well but we didnt make too much effort for the penetrating balls. Second half was much improved to be fair, lots of chance creation, just poor, poor finishing. And then the sucker punch. Crying out for a killer striker, and Walcott, well is he really one?
Hi Brian.
Which is probably why so many Arsenal fans are crying out for AW to sign a striker, a younger, fitter, more agile than Giroud and one who knows where the back of the net is…
Arsenal took a half lead time.
TW is not a center forward. It has no “nose” to score, instinct for goal and physique to the place.
The result is undeserved in my opinion, but in football who scores wins.
We lost twice to Swansea this season: the 1st, away in the title; in the other, we can definitely have us away from 2nd place.
Swansea against Arsenal, always plays the same way: in 30 meters, closed behind the ball line, waiting for the error Arsenal, the “blind side” of the player receiving the ball back and run fast to the counter attack.
Check the stats Ts. 😉 We had a good few chances, just didn’t take them and made Fabianski look good..
Potter – like you, I think there would be little chance of us being thrown out of that pub for being rowdy..
You make a good point about the transfer comments made by AW, he should be saying the opposite to keep players on their toes. Similar happened last year when players were desperate to prove they should be at the WC. Different situation but it still fired up players enough to perform.
Wenger has no plan b .He is a bad loser and expects teams to play his way ie attack and open up the space. He is naïve.That is why he has never beaten Mourrino. His one style attacking play is a heaven sent for teams like Swansea.
That is why for all the shots and 70% possession Arsenal can’t score.Blame it on his endless passing .MU especially Rooney will be expecting to score if the gunners give such generous space.
Until Wenger can beat teams playing anti soccer,Arsenal will only be a top 4 team.
Roger – tough one for Theo really, coming on late in the game and being thrown into a position in which he hasn’t played for such a long time, crikey, he’s barely played at all yet suddenly, AW lumps so much pressure on him and no doubt all because of his contract situation.
Why not start TW centrally and use his speed from the off… Just a thought..
It was disappointing last night, for sure but did anyone else see how the Swansea defenders started early to kick lumps out of Alexis and Giroud? It was a deliberate ploy to shake up our likely scorers. Like the sissy he is, Giroud simply couldn’t trust himself with his back to anyone in the swans defence after taking a knee in the back. We needed to man up at times. Another factor was having a returning teammate as keeper. There is the tendency to want to “kill” him and end up hitting shots too high or waywardly or too slow. Anyway, it is a must-win game now, at the toilet.
Theo is getting time as centre forward because of the contract situation . If and when he has signed he will be cast back to the wing or bench .
I’ve been in a pub with Rico but she doesn’t remember it. 🙂
Talking of players feeling “safe”, I noticed a worrying trend with Coquelin’s play yesterday and that was his insistence on holding on to the ball longer than he is wont to, then slowing down the pace and only speeding things up when the fans remind him he had a “man-on”. That’s not a style we have come to know him for (agreed, he had very little to do) and he would be better of being his neat and tidy self in possession. Win the ball; pass it to the closest man or spread it to the full back; return to enforcer mode. That’s it!
Jack, I think we’ll play very differently at OT…
Blame it on that half of Stella Adam… 😉
Gooner Eris – I thought Giroud went down a bit too easy with that ‘knee in the back’ – in fact I didn’t think there was much if any contact.. I could be wrong though..
Potter – I am sat nodding re your Theo comment….
Jack Gunner, really?
So tactics were to blame?
Well, there we have it.
It had nothing to with our guys being unable to shoot from ten yards out…no.
You are kidding yourself.
I was thinking of the gallon of Prosecco Rico. 🙂
Eris, our guys were showing no movement off the ball leaving the man ON the ball struggling for options.
Coquelin wasn’t the only one.
Scott, it’s all a matter of opinion don’t forget…
Surely Theo’s days as an Arsenal player are coming to an end.
Can the endless square passing from the back be considered tactics? If that can be changed with a word or instruction, then I would think yes. Sometimes, when teams come with the ‘Chelsea mindset’ surely the best way is to just heap pressure upon them while keeping the back doors locked of course. What Jack did was provide impetus. He wanted to carry the ball deep within their defence and force them into making uncomfortable decisions. I certainly see a place for him in this Arsenal set-up.
Gooner Eris – I tend to agree with Scott re Coquelin and to be fair, it’s been an ongoing problem – when we lack movement and everyone stays clumped up together in the middle, what option does he have?
Imo, it’s the same reason Ozil was so often getting criticised, he never had an option for a pass..
Adam, don’t forget the Cobra beforehand… 😉
I know, but 8 shots and each hits the keeper on the chest is fact 🙂
And seeing as Lee can’t access HH today, I’ll blame him for that day Adam… 😉
I thought Jack looked quite a different player last night, certainly stronger.
Rico, he’s impressed both games back, to be fair.
Rico. Yes, I agree. I had forgotten the Cobra. 🙂
Jack I m not sure about the tactic. I still think they park the car and got lucky at the end. I would not blame anybody. I agree with the guys here that we need a top striker to compete with chelsea. This does not mean that Girou is useless. We had hell lots of chances that if we had a top striker like Aguero, he could have converted one or two of them.
I really think the team has improved a lot and we should be proud of our boys. nine wins out 10 is something we must celebrate.
He certainly looks lively and stronger when he comes on. Wenger has to pigeon hole his players and work out who replaces who , can Jack and Ramsey play in the same team for instance and could Rosicky have staged Sanchez at times for 20 minutes. Nobody is really capable of doing the job that Coquelin has been doing and that has been a topic of conversation for years . We have a squad but it is rarely used unless we get a knock , we make substitutions but often they are just more of the same just a bit fresher . We never seem to change the proverbial horse , we just plough on doing things the way we always do.
Agree Scott..
I hadn’t Adam.. 😉
Aguero Christopher, now wouldn’t he fit right in.
I didn’t sleep a wink last night and brianna didn’t eat. Am still pissed. That’s exactly why we have struggled to win the league. Complacency and stupidity. Guys alexis is a good player but sometimes I just want to grab him and slam him headfirst onto the ground. He can go from being a messi to a worse gerwanko. Plus what’s up with everyone last night trying to be the number 10. We had to many people trying to create and no one trying to run behind the defense. Somebody should tell alexis that unlike udinese and chile we do have a number 10 and the best there is. Stick to scoring and leave the creativity to ozil rambo and santi. God am so angry. Moaning guys.
Afternoon, Didn,t see the game thank god, Cant seem to get the time these days. Cant help thinking it,s just as well we weren,t chasing the title, What a set back that would,ve been. It must be galling for Theo to watch Ramsey who is not a winger play in his position, Surely his time at Arsenal must be in serious doubt.
Be the bullet alexis not the gun you mong. He’s at his best when he’s running behind the defense. Just run trust me ozil ll find you.
Nodding again Potter. We have far too many players who are the same, what we lack is a couple of game changers on the bench ready to come on and make a difference…
But I guess that’s because of the way they are all coached to play the same way. Even shooting seems to be coached out of them…
I really hope we try and sign Lacazette… No, I hope we get him..
Hi Goonie, Brianna no better then?
Harsh on Alexis 😉
Rico am pissed seriously
If he sticks to what he does best trust me it ll make our jobs easier. He’s always trying to get on the ball and it’s infuriating. He’s not a good passer or a good dribbler but you see him hogging the ball for minutes on end. Arsene needs to talk to him
His final ball is woeful. He’s a good passer as am a good cook. God am so angry
Smudger reckons we will sign Milner…
Our finishing last night was atrocious. My grand ma ll have done better.
Goonie, I have to disagree re Alexis….
Well that’s why we’re on HH….a place where we can disagree. He was shite last night rico. Let’s not pretend otherwise. He was so shite he stank.
Goonster.
Dublin, it doesn’t make a lot of sense does it re Theo/Ramsey, work rate is the difference I guess…
Yesterday was one of those times we need an old fashioned goal poacher. An inzaghi klinnsman or Miroslav klose. I know a lot of people want a big brawny center forward or a pacy tricky son of a bitch but sometimes all we need is just one who would look stupid and anonymous all game but bam when the goals comes he’s the one who gets it. I couldn’t count how many balls wilshere whipped in last night that no one ran onto. Theo and alexis were ball watching. Chicharito made a living from balls like that. He’s inept at everything else but when you need a goal he’s your man. That’s what we should get this off season. A guy who is willing to sit on the bench and come in to do a job when called upon. We all want a guy who can beat 17 people with a nutmeg or dribble pass all the players plus the ball boys and assistant referees but what we lack now is an old fashioned goal poacher. A DARREN BENT. There I said it. Am do angry.
Morning adam…
🙂 goonie
Spot on goonie…
Howdy ts….this is the lowest I ve been in a while. This is exactly why that 2008 team didn’t win the league and why were still struggling. I thought we ve turned a corner but alas I was wrong. Am so down right now. It’s probably affecting my productivity at work.
Isn’t that what most of us have said though Goonie, we need a goal scorer…..
Goonie, its not as bad as you are making it though…
We are where we are…;
we have debated the topic of whether we have improved or not…; I have my views, most disagree; hope I am wrong but if we are going to finish 15 points behind the winners then we will have a mountain to climb…imho of course
Goonie- if a player is willing to sit on the bench the media will condition section of fans to call him a ‘deadwood’ though… even though all top teams a few.
Ts a few tweaks here and there is what we need. It’s not rocket science. Rest one of Santi rambo or ozil. Player a pacy winger on the flanks. Our transition from defense to attack is so slow a snail ll be back defending by the time we get to the other side of the pitch. Stick alexis on the wings tell him if he moves he ll get shot on the spot. I mean we make it so easy to defend against. I was talking to a mate last week the best game we played all season was away to monaco. We players like barca 2011. We bossed that game and out played them and you know why? Because we had welbeck and sanchez on opposite flanks stretching the play. When he falls into the middle with ozil and santi he only makes it crowdy. Like the English ll say “too many cooks spoil the broth”. He’s not even a good passer of the ball. God help me.
Ts the media can go eat a cock. Who cares what they all think. As long as the said player comes in and does a job who gives a fuck? I bet no one called ole gunnar solkjaer a deadwood!
I have to agree again Goonie…
What you are saying about AS17 are part of the reasons why I was routing for a signing like Immobile or even Balo’ over the summer.
Lets hope AW can coach some of those points out of AS17…
I know Balo’ has appeared to be a failure at scouserland but… lol
The issue as I pointed out following Ktr7’s post after we signed AS17 was that on paper AS17 is a top no.9 but any one who watched AS17 at udinese playing through the middle will admit AS17 is so hungry to get involved with play it will virtually be impossible for him to make his team effect as a no.9.
Proof is Pep went all out to buy AS17 but failed to play him in certain games as AS17 held unto the ball too long in the final third.
A typical example is how he plays for Chile…
As Jm has alluded to earlier, we struggle against Swansea.. and all teams who are effective at what they do…
Not many players these days want to sit on the bench though goonster. Our best finisher is in Italy right now and many of us hope he doesn’t come back but he’s one who could score and seldom did he shoot at a keeper.
Lol goonie neither did they call Teddy Sheringham a deadwood; but Chamakh signed on a free holding the record at that time for scoring 4 or 5 goals in consistent games in UCL; fast forward, following his demotion for RVP to audition for a move to Yanited, fans turned on Chamakh… 😉
Unfortunately we al get conditioned by the media some way or another…
Balotelli? Think he’s just proved at the Dippers that he’d have been a dreadful signing for any club. I’m sure glad AW didn’t sign him…
Good point Rico re. Poldi…
but he is on the bench at Inter; sections of fans wanted him out though for not starting enough games and not being mobile enough after they called for Poldi to played as a false 9 even though they might not hadr seen him play there before.
I agree with goonster re. Alexis crowding up the middle, sometimes stealing the ball when another player is about to give a good pass or make a better decision. Then he holds on so long, with players making good runs all about him. His final balls would usually get over-hit or poorly placed. The only positive there is he does get into position to try those passes more times than any other player, which is down to what we all like about him: work rate. Wenger does need to guide him a bit there. The only player he ever feels obliged to pass to appears to be Ozil, ever. Any other is just circumstantial.
Chamakh was poor and has been ever since Ts….
Agree re. Chamakh but he is better than Sir No Goal… and probably cost the club the same.
At least Chamakh can play DM. 😀
Ts – Podolski was a bench warmer for us too, yet that’s what Goonie is saying we need and one who can find a goal…
That’s the problem – players want to play, not sit on the bench and wait for 25 mins playing time each game which is why imo, who we sign needs to be a proper player, one who can play alongside Giroud at times or instead of him depending on who we face…
My son and I were discussing the merits of Wrighty in this team . He wasn’t that skillful to be fair but the desire to score was unbelievable.
Alexis wasn’t the only player crowding the middle, Ramsey was very guilty of doing similar and not for the first time whilst playing on the right. Our attacking unit was a mess all over so surely it’s better not to single out one particular player.
Unless it’s because Alexis came from Barca and cost us £35 million of course, or that he’s not Welsh and can never do anything wrong….
Hi Rico, I haven’t seen any of the game…
It seems that Wilshere had a good game…
Jack wasn’t running with the ball by any chance?
You know dribbling with it and commiting the Swansea players into making decisions they didn’t have to do, when faced with the usual mindless over passing that we often indulge in….
Rico- You raise a interest point for discussion.
Imo, It comes down to squad management or lack of by AW. No matter who we buy Aw will most probably drop someone and make them go rusty.
You may say I am being negative but you know I am one of AW’s staunchest backers when the masses are against him…
Nevertheless, I continue to claim he mismanages the squad so badly…
As an example, I see no reason why AW is not getting Gabriel to even play 10 minutes when we are winning comfortably. Instead AW chooses only to make chances when it is a necessity…
This is not bashing JW btw but the way I see it there is no reason for JW to be playing or getting back to fitness now…
We have an FA cup coming up; heavens forbid if one of our CBs’ gets injured before that…, a replacement will be catapulted in and expected to play to the same levels as our first choice 2.
That’s a matter of opinion re Chamakh Ts…. Not sure where the comparison to Sanogo comes in…
It seems that Rosicky is gone?
Shame!
Potter – out of interest, what do you think of Ings these days?
Hi Kev.
You’re lucky not seeing it, I wish I hadn’t.. 😉
Think you are right re Rosicky, if ever there was a game which needed him, it was last night. Him off the bench for 20 mins may have worked.
Jack was ok imo, shame he wasn’t on for longer.
Whether Alexis does this or that is part of his game and will probably remain so. I just wanted to say to our square and strangely immobile defence, “Their goal is THAT way”. Ffs put some pressure on their defenders. If they want to sit deep and watch everything happening in front of them then fine. Keep the ball in their final third and force them into making decisions. Do not play into their hands and keep knocking the ball square and whatever you do, keep you defensive shape otherwise they will counter on you and perhaps score. Oh dear, look what’s happened. One thing I will say about Gabriel is that he is always looking to pass forward to a midfielder when he gets the ball and not just knock it sideways in an endless stream of tedious and totally ineffective, unproductive play.
Last night we did exactly what Swansea and their manager expected and thought we would do and it was horribly predictable as indecisive and nervous play spreads through the team like wildfire.
You kind of contradict yourself there, unless I have read your comment wrong but you say there is no reason why Jack should be playing or get back to fitness now, yet suggest Gnabry, who is still returning to fitness with the under 21’s, should be getting ten minutes.
Re rotation, at this stage of the season and with only one game a week, i’m all for playing the same players, especially when we have been doing so well.
After all, look what happened when he rotated a few against Reading…
Potter – re Wrighty, he could grab a goal from nothing, a really great goal scorer… Just what we need now…
Agree re Gabriel, think he’ll be one of the first on the team-sheet next season. He’s one of the few changes I’d make..
Strange, almost ironic Rico, that a player, constantly castigated for his criminal habit of actually running ‘with the ball’ and doing something different than just mindlessly passing the fcuking ball to death, had an impact on the game.
Variation, it’s a wonderful thing…
Maybe instead of criticising Jack for having the temerity to dribble with the ball, more ire should be heaped on the thugs that kick him and the idiot referees who fail to protect him….
Just saying…
Ings has had a disappointing season in a very disappointing team . I had hoped that he would do well and I still think that there is something there for someone but not us we need the finished article .
A very negative, time-wasting and cynical Swansea found a willing accomplice in that fat tosser Kevin Friend last night. After signalling 4 minutes of injury time when it should have been about 7 he blew after just over 3 anyway. According to the stadium clock anyway. I don’t know how many warnings over time wasting are appropriate but that knob seems to believe it should be in double figures. He even lectured Williams about it before the second half kick-off. With zero results. I am nearly as angry as Stan today. 🙂
Kev – seems to me that he could see from the bench what was going on and took it upon himself to change it – either that or AW instructed him to get at them. lol
Shame he didn’t send Jack on to tell the others too…
Rumour is he’s off to Liverpool Potter…
Jeez- It was a light-hearted joke re Chamakh…
And I said Gabriel not Gnabry…
I NEVER said AW should rotate now. I am implying AW needed to look at an area of the team that could be vulnerable if there was an injury leading up to the FA cup final.
I don’t expect you to agree with me or even consider the context of the points I am raising but surely you will agree that if there is an injury to one of our CBs’ it will be left to young Chambers or Debuchy or Gabriel or Monreal to step up against an inform AV team…
IF we are to lose that game that could set us back a few years due to the dent in players and fans confidence going forward imho…
My view is humbly based on the point that every strategist makes contingency plans for a worst case scenario…; At the moment I don’t see that happening.. but hey I talk nonsense and only post stats so…
Walk time for me, so catch up later….
Hiya Adam, how’s things…?
I had a chance to go last night, but luckily had a lot of stuff to do at home…
I didn’t even have a chance to unpack the Muso. But that treat is awaiting me this evening… 😉
As long as we finish in the Top Three, that’ll do for me….
And we’ do that…
But we really need to beat Villa, that’s gotta be the priority…
Guys do you remember that welback was signed to compete with giroud?why are they not competing?same with jack and ramsey, ozil and carzola.i mean where is the so called competition wenger speaks of,when all these players written find themself playing together?
Hi Kev. Last night was frustration versus the reality that perhaps we might not be where we thought we were. Ambiguous but I find myself more upset than normal. The only good thing is that Wenger might somehow decide to twist and not stick. I am still convinced that change is needed but baby and bath water is possibly high on the board’s agenda.
Find a nice prominent place for the Muso and you’ll love that groovy volume control. 🙂
It’s much nicer than the remote.
Confidence in the team is fragile and that’s why every time we go backward the worry beads come out . Many have been happy to enjoy the recent ride but in the background we all knew that we would implode again at some point.
Drake. I don’t think that Welbeck was signed to compete with Giroud but to rather enhance our attacking options. I am with TH in that we currently need another couple of strikers. I very much doubt that AW agrees though.
Potter. Right on.
Adam That the problem with wenger, he need to know that giroud is the only out and out striker
Drake. But that’s Wenger isn’t it? He loves players to have multi-roles within the team.
Good Afternoon Rico and All.
Interesting summary of the frustrating game yesterday.
Why Theo as a striker when we were looking for goal(s)? Even OG12 couldn’t believe it when he was sub for Theo. Yesterday was not a game for trial and error. I don’t fault him for the team he chose but I blame him for taken OG12 off being he is best CF in the club.
1.E. Dzeko or Bony
2.Remy
3.RVP or Falcao
4 Balo
and
5.Theo.
Which one from this Substitute list would you use to replace OG12 yesterday as CF when we were in need of goals so badly? I am sure I would not use Theo unless we already bagged the game.
Arsenal is a big club and, we should behave as one. The next time we are in a trial and error mood when three points is on the line, we should try Per in between the Goal-Post.
Against these teams that close within a radius of 30 meters with 10 players and know how to play and get out on the counterattack, I experience not play with 2 players in the area?
It is that in this way, we walked the walk the ball, the opponent plays for Arsenal error, in case of difficulty, always slows the ball and feel comfortable in the game in your plan A, to unnerve Arsenal and be able to launch the plan B (a cool advanced to try to score a goal).
Chelsea plays in a similar way against us, except that they are stronger to defend and to attack than, say Swansea, “solve” the game earlier.
Wenger had his strongest side out, but look at the bench. They are the ones to go this summer.
Remember the days with Robert and Dennis on the bench
Afternoon Ng and all. What a glorious sunny afternoon it’s been too. Not bright enough to erase that awful game from my memory though….
Welcome David – not all on the bench surely?
Rico. I am the same. Last night was hard to take.
Sure was Adam but not totally unexpected.
Naive that I am Rico I thought we could overcome negative play by now. The team looked flat and rather tired.
Goodness knows why Adam, they have a week of rest after every game. I thought they were over confident, almost cocky with too many players wanting to score instead of doing what they should do….
Under 9’s spring to mind…. Lol
Hi Everyone in the house. Last night was so awful because it smashed all the hope and belief that the team was really getting it all together and progressing. In one awful but as Rico says, not totally unexpected deja vu game, all the same old problems were on show, the same rediculous substitutions, the same unexplainable lethargy, the same lack of discipline. The whole sorry show. I just sat for about half an hour after that game feeling numb, I was so disappointed. Adam is spot on, it was hard to take.
Hi Vonnie.. I share your disappointment…..
Do the under 9’s have lots of accidents as well rico ?
Better last nite than a sunny afternoon in Wembley I hope !
Vonnie. If some good comes from the defeat, then fair enough. :). I suppose.
Probably Micko, and they all chase the ball in groups…..
Yes Adam and Micko, hopefully last night can re-focus the team, and the manager. It’s not so much the losing that was the disappointment, but the manner of it. But as you say, all is not lost, we just need to avoid that Champions League qualifier and keep our Cup!
I’m hoping it’ll give them all a kick in the butt too Vonnie but if we really are to move up a gear, we shouldn’t need that kick….
True Rico, but I think Arsene lets things get stale when he doesn’t freshen up the team. Tommy Rosicky will surely leave because he doesn’t get any game time, and I really felt he would have made a difference yesterday. Hopefully Danny will make a difference when he’s back, because I don’t think Theo should be on the pitch at the moment, he just doesn’t seem focussed. Whether that’s because of the injury (the team’s changed a lot in the time he’s been out) or the contract situation, he doesn’t seem right, and we can’t afford to lose more points while he sorts himself out.
Can’t disagree there Vonnie
I’m having an early one..
Night all….
I’m still dirty we took aim at Fabianskis chest so often lol
Tactics…..individual players…..errors…bbbllllaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
We had more than enough chances to win that game easily.
Morning all.
Did you see Lewandowskis goal today?
There’s THE player we could use.
We would win the League easily with him up front.
What a player.
Scott……..very nonchalant, super finish, reminds me a little of myself in my youth !
Just out of curiosity have you received your invite from Kev re his house warming party, beginning to get a little bit worried, most of got lost in the post !
Nite Gooners.
If a deal can be done which would entices BM for Lewandowski and a serious defensive midfielder who not only can defend but, can also make those long passes, which by the way Les Coq lack, we could be a serious contender.
A CF in the likes of Lewandowski is what we been missing since the day we bought Ozil. And I’ve been disappointed ever since.
Well that was a great house warming party I had last night…
A bit disappointed that Mick never turned up…
Still, all over to his for the next one…
Morning All
Morning Rico…
It’s a beautiful sunny day in London Town

Scott, Ng – Lewandowski might be look for new home if we can match his salary….; FC Muchen’s board are showing discord over his £9m annual salary;
They were not consulted apparently… :-0
