Arsenal record in League Cup Finals is dismal. Still, we’ve got hope but that’s all.

A post from AllezKev this morning.

OK, first the bad news. Arsenal do not have a good record in League Cup finals. On the seven occasions we’ve got there, only twice have we left Wembley with a winners medal and the trophy but the last time that happened was back in 1993.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s the least important of the trophies up for grabs each season I hear critics of this competition cry, but Arsenal are hardly in a position to be sniffy about any trophy these days are they as it’s not like we’re pushing Man City all the way in the League is it?

Arsenal have appeared in the League Cup final at the new Wembley Stadium just once before and that was the infamous 2011 final when a defensive mix up handed Birmingham City an 89th minute winner. Yes, a defensive mix up. Hard to believe isn’t it?

At the time it felt as if Arsenal would never again taste success under Arsene Wenger, a feeling that persisted throughout the following two seasons, until 2013-14 when we lifted the FA Cup for the first time in what seemed years. Arsene has enjoyed much success in the FA Cup, beating Tottenham, ManUtd (a), Chelsea and Man City among others in order to bring the old trophy home. Some on route to the final, others on the big day in May. It hasn’t always been Sutton, Lincoln and Wigan on our journey to silverware you know….

Talking of Wigan, it was the Latics who Arsenal defeated on April 12th 2014, the start of a fine winning run for the Gunners’ in our National Stadium. We’ve beaten Chelsea three times, Man City twice and those other giants Reading and Aston Villa. I won’t mention our last pathetic showing in the big stadium.

As Arsenal fans, we know what supporting our club is all about and how they love to put our emotions through the wringer, after all, the FA Cup final against Hull was fun wasn’t it, as was the semi-final against Reading. We came through both though in the end.

Anyway Man City will rock up at Wembley full of frustration and anger following their defeat at Wigan. Pep will not have forgotten how Wenger got the better of him in last seasons FA Cup semi-final, so everyone and their dog will be expecting a Man City win, a first trophy for Guardiola in England and I have to say that it’s difficult to disagree with that scenario.

I’ll be going to game more in hope than expectations, but I’ll still enjoy it, after all what’s the point in going to a Cup Final and being miserable?

I’ll still have hope just as many of us will today, because if we ain’t got that then what have we got?

  1. Goonster says:

Rico shitty plays footie in a way that suits us. If only we can channel our inner “invincibles ” I really think we can get something out of this. Play to our strengths. Put auba on the shoulder of the last man. Have the ozter thread the ball to him from our own half. Close them down when they have the ball and move as a unit when we win the ball back. My team ‘ll be ospina mustafi kozzer and nacho at the back. Bellend(groans) Rambo elneny iwobi (sighs) ozster welbz and auba.

  2. rico says:

I know they do Goonie. As said yesterday the way they play should suit us but we’ll need to be able to defend properly. At least there shouldn’t be the ball over the top of our defence as city keep the ball on the ground.

  3. Goonster says:

Jeez Rico if I didn’t know any better i ‘ll say you ‘ve been kidnapped and replaced by a clone of lee and WATH speaking of which where’s that miserable slob been lately? yo WATH I know you can hear me. Get your butt back on HH you dweeb.

  4. Goonster says:

Rico our squad is threadbare right now iwobi has got to play. I hate to say it but he’s all we ‘ve got for now. Lol

  5. Goonster says:

It won’t be that easy Rico. I still don’t see them putting 2 past us let alone 4. Come on now. It’s a final even Wenger won’t be so stupid to go gung ho.

  6. rico says:

Play Iwobi and we might as well play with ten. There’s no way I’d start him, in fact he wouldn’t even be on the bench if it were down to me.

  7. Goonster says:

I have a feeling iwobi ‘ll have a blinder today ???wish I can replace bellend with jenko. Shame he’s on loan.

  8. rico says:

He’ll go gung ho, that’s his way. This is the guy who says the best way to defend is by attacking.

The guy doesn’t know how to anything else.

  9. Goonster says:

Ok Rico who ‘ll you play?? Look at the bench ma’am we have no other winger to call upon. Nelson is still too raw. Iwobi is all we have right now.

  10. Goonster says:

Not in the final Rico. He’s never gone gung ho in the final. He’s not that stupid not against KDB’s shitty!!!

  11. Goonster says:

Lol alright Rico you ‘ll be surprised. Nacho has to wear his big boy pants today. Am depending on him to turn the game around. He’s going to be instrumental to us getting anything out of today’s game. Both offensive and defensive.

  12. Goonster says:

Well it’s a one off game Adam I still think we might surprise a few. Get the ball and just go long to auba and have him do the rest. We ‘ve seen pool and Wigan do it why can’t we?? We ve got ozil remember??

  13. Goonster says:

You don’t know that Rico ? he could surprise us all today. He’s due a masterclass sometime. It could be today.

  14. Goonster says:

Wembley Wembley we ‘re the famous arsenal and we ‘re going to Wembley. Come on arsenal. Let’s do this. Hey Rico you can tell am already drinking huh????????

  15. Meerkat says:

Morning peeps. Right, for my twopennarth I will agree mostly with Rico, especially re Iwobi playing. I’m not keen on Xhaka either though, so my midfield has to be Elneny, Ramsey and Jack.
Monreal always gives 100%, Bellerin is just a nightmare at times, but then again they all have their moments.
This might be a good one for Kolasinac, but he’s not really all that is he? But who is, lol?
The thought of Danny up front gives me the heebyjeebies, but I feel like ‘Old Mother Hubbard’ finding the cupboard bare.
Xhaka could well get sent off in a game like this, too slow in his tackles.
So, the two best players we have are Ozil and obamalangadingdong.

Oh gawd, I sound really negative, when the truth is we could just nick it, we always seem to come out for a cup final. BUT City are the dogs this year and for the next few years, so they could hammer us.
Not a game for the faint hearted today. However, every cloud and all that, it could be the last straw for Wenger.
I didn’t want to see him hounded out, but he really should have gone of his own accord before now.
So, you pays yer money, yer takes yer choice, Win the cup, or see Wenger pushed a little farther out of the door.

On a positive note, here in the southeast, the sun is shining, not a cloud to be seen, but my bird baths are still frozen over. Oops, gone negative again, I just can’t help myself. Bitter and twisted that’s me.
Oh a Kestral has just landed on one of the bird baths, gotta go a take a photo. Catch up later for the inquest.

  16. micko says:

Sure we still have hope but take a look back at most of our team sheets this season before kick off and most of them read “false hope”

    C’mon Arsenal……we can do this !

  17. Goonster says:

Chelsea one up…yeeeeeees rub that portuguese cnut miss in it and whisper this lightly but Sanchez is having another stinker ????the manure fans patience ‘ll soon run out.

  18. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all and thanks Kev.

Yes CFG are favourites, but we all know anything can happen in a final…………………..God we`ve been on the receiving end of some bad ones…………………….Swndon, Brum, Luton………………….but so have CFG.

Someone is always the favourite and someone is always the one that upsets the apple cart………………………let the latter be us for once like last years FA Cup Final where I gave us no hope with Merts and Holding as our two central defenders !

    COYRRG !

  19. BT62 Gooner says:

Hi Goonie, been a while indeed,do drop in for a read most days mate.

Hope you and Bri are doing well and life is treating you well..

    Let’s do this Arsenal..

    O2B

  20. Goonster says:

Rico he ‘ll be fine. Remember holding against Chelsea??? I still maintain its 2.1 to the arsenal. An own goal by Kyle walker and an aubameyang special ??? we ‘ve got this in the bag Rico. Come on arsenal.

  21. Joaquim Moreira says:

How is it possible to concede a goal of a throw-in with 3 defenses?
    Was off-side?
    We were looking for what?

  22. rico says:

City haven’t played that well either. Shows how dreadful we are.

Gary Neville is spot on with his scathing remarks about our players and performance.

  23. Goonster says:

Good thing my stream went off after the 3rd goal. That was getting embarrassing. A top tier team losing 3.0 to another top tier team in a final is a sackable offence. He should leave tonight. Enough is enough.

  24. andrewh1313 says:

Rico, it’s so two-faced from Neville. Arsenal fans were a disgrace according to him for wanting a change of manager after 20 years. Now he’s saying we have been soft throughout the team for 10 years.

  25. Goonster says:

Gary Neville can go to hell Rico that manc cnut was out last season talking out of his ass how lucky we were to have Wenger. Different players same scenario. Tell him to go fuck himself. Scumbag.

  26. rico says:

Andrew, I think he’s lumping the blame on the players rather than seeing the bigger picture.

But he’s bang on with what he’s saying about us. He’s like Wenger though, just can’t see who’s too blame.

  27. rico says:

I can’t stand Neville, and yes, he’s a prat for what he said about the fans but all I’m saying is, he’s right about this dreadful performance today…

  28. Lee says:

It’s just a shame that another embarrassing hammering won’t lead to Wenger fucking off…Teflon or whatever?
R.I.P Arsenal FC (well until we get another manager!)

  29. Meerkat says:

    Disgraceful and embarrassing.
Neville is right about our players, they haven’t been up for it from the start. And that my friends is entirely down to you all know who.

  30. Lee says:

Ramsey and Xhaka walking about like they’re out for a Sunday stroll over the park….disgraceful and they aren’t the only ones!!!

Josh are you taking this shit show on board?

  31. Meerkat says:

Pep is now resting his best players for Thursday night. Anyone up for betting how many of ours will not be fit and getting their mums to write a note saying they can’t come in today.

  32. Adam says:

Dear oh dear. What an embarrassment. It’s beyond words but Neville summed it up rather well.
It’s very painful but Wenger’s delusion and intransigence has bought us here.

  33. Kk says:

That mustafi moment set the tone for the rest of the game..what a bottler he has been.
Can’t say any other player showed up today including ospina
Its a toss between chambers, bellend and ozil for the worst!
On a positive note, wenger can’t gloat about another trophy!

  34. Goonster says:

Just been on Twitter scum fans trolling us to death. God this hurts. I didn’t remember us hitting the target once in the second half. Why bother showing up if you won’t atleast give it a go. Wigan fucking athletic beat this same manc team a week ago. You could see players in a lower league giving this same shitty side a decent game. No one shirk or went missing they were out baying for blood and guess what they won. Ours on the other hand is a total wankfest. If Wenger gets a new contract that’s me done. I womt stand for this anymore!

  35. Goonster says:

Kk bellend has the kind of face I ‘ll love to smash in. That little cnut offers nothing going forward and defensively. He’s the worst of the pack. He can’t cross to save his life, can’t beat his man or pass 3 yards without hitting an opposing player. The only thing that twerp is good for is fashion and giving cringe worthy pressers. I physically hate him.

  36. Goonster says:

Heck even his fashion sense is questionable. Man am beginning to have dark thoughts toward Wenger bellend and iwobi.

  37. Lee says:

Brudder the same Neville that was saying that Arsenal fans were lucky to have Wenger as manager not so long ago!?!?

    Another clueless fucktard

  38. Goonster says:

Rico I still don’t know where and how you find the strength to pen a new post every day. I know a whole bunch of arsenal blogs that packed up a while back. The gunning hawk, ladyarse,Martin the goon blog, desigunner,wrighty7 and gunnerblog. They all close shop a long time ago. Just glad and honored to still have you. If it were up to me i ‘ll have shut down 5 years ago!

  39. Goonster says:

Been watching Valencia vs real sociedad now 35 minutes and I must say coquelin looked a different player to the one we let go. He’s more assured. Doesn’t bomb forward or slide into tackles rashly. He’s more composed on the ball too. Makes you wonder how many players Wenger ruined in his 35 yesrs of management!

  40. Goonster says:

Don’t Rico please think of me!!! I ‘ll slowly loose my mind lol. To whom do I moan to? DON’T DO IT. we need you. I need you ????

  41. Adam says:

Whatever Neville did or didn’t say in the past, he was right today. Surely the board must see that keeping Wenger on until the end of the season is a waste of time. It’s a sad state of affairs but someone really must do something about it.

  42. Goonster says:

No ma’am I don’t think ladyarse is daily cannon. That’s ran by an American dude. Ladyarse was on Twitter for a while after disabling her blog then disappeared.

  43. Goonster says:

Heard fans left even before the game ended enmasse, how true us that rico?? My stream went off after the 3rd goal. Can you confirm that?

  44. Goonster says:

Ends 2.1 Valencia. This was not the coquelin we sold. He looks twice the player we had just a few ago. Coaching??? I think so.

  45. Goonster says:

Good….just hope fans at the emirates can replicate that. Leave around the 75th minute every game. Especially if we are losing. That ‘ll surely get that moustache wearing twat’s attention. Change is needed pronto.

  46. Adam says:

I get that though Rico. I sometimes forget just how long this crap has been going on for. Nobody wants to moan all the time. It’s depressing and boring. Yet, here we are in a competitive league with a manager way, way past it, who thinks that being competitive means moaning at the 4th Official and falling out with the opposion’s manager.
Losing is bad enough but the way we are losing is completely unacceptable and I hope the owner and board feel the same way.

  47. Meerkat says:

There were no fans left when the Goonettes went up for their runners up medals. Embarrassing. They must have felt ashamed to have let the fans down so badly.
Everyone is laughing at Arsenal fc. How bad has it got to get before the old boys club actually do something.

How on earth will it go on Thursday? Will many fans bother to turn up?
We have hit rock bottom now, so perhaps it can’t get any worse. Arsene Wenger must surely do the decent thing. He’s seen other managers come and go from clubs, so why should he feel that he is different from them.? It will hurt him, but he must bite the bullet and resign.
Though who the frickin hell can come in now? All the best managers are sorted and happy where they are, and most important to our tight arses, on long contracts.

We are a laughing stock now, how bad will it be after Thursday’s?

  48. rico says:

If fans stay away Thursday Meerkat, that’ll send out a message, if they all turn up and be heard at the end with their protest, that too will be heard. Might turn out to be a good thing playing City again so soon.

  49. Goonster says:

God we look awful compared to most teams across Europe. Watching Sevilla vs atleti and you can already see the gulf in class in just 10 minutes of play. Like meerkat said earlier we ‘ve really hit rock bottom!!

  50. Goonster says:

Banega and nzonzi ‘ll greatly improve us. They ‘ll both walk into our first team without hesitation and they are not even top tier players. Says a lot about our current midfield personnel. A team with xhaka Wilshire Rambo elneny and iwobi deserves to be spanked repeatedly!!

  51. Wavy says:

Ancelotti would do as a stop gap. He may even Improve things too, he couldn’t do any worse, could he? We were shocking, again! Only one person to blame. Only one person rules the roost, chief chicken Wenger! After all it is his club, he built so he can do as he pleases, or so he says.
Kronke? Look at his other less than successful franchises none of them contend for any competition they’re in, what on earth do you thinks about the Arsenal? He couldn’t give a sh1t so long as the money keeps rolling in and the real estate prices keep rising.
We’re doomed, doomed, we’re all doomed!

  52. Goonster says:

BT trust me mate this is rock bottom. Anything more than this and we ‘ll be at the core of the earth where Satan dwells. Change is required immediately. Don’t even wait till the end of the season. Since the beginning of the year we ‘ve gone from bad to worse. Each game looks worse than the previous one. How on earth did we lose to osteriod??? If that’s not rock bottom BT then I don’t know what it is.

  53. Wavy says:

I think I’ll delay my rant till tomorrow, when and if I’ve calmed down and am able to construct sense making sentences coherently!

  54. Goonster says:

Wavy I stopped buying that kroenke bullshit a while back. We ve spent 120 odd million on 2 strikers this season alone. Yes kroenke don’t give a shit but he’s not in charge of tactics and players requirement. Am sure kroenke didn’t tell leshite to loan jenko whom to me is a better right back and keep bellend. Am sure kroenke didn’t wengerized all the new players we have. Suddenly laca looks like shite! Was this the same lacasette we ‘ve all been clamoring for?? What about xhaka?? We all saw him at the last Euro. What about kolasinac? The list goes on mate. Kroenke is a shit owner yes we both agree on that but this malaise was all because of one man…arsene fucking Wenger!

  55. Goonster says:

The past 5 seasons we ‘ve splashed some huge numbers on players. Ozil for 42 million quid. Sanchez for 35, mustafi came in for 35 too. Xhaka, laca and auba all commanded huge fees. So how’s that kroenke’s fault?? Look at kolasinac a guy that came to us with s reputation of being a tank. 5 months into his arsenal career and he looks lost and bereft of ideas. When he just came in players used to bounce off him now he’s as weak as a French coffee!!!

  56. Goonster says:

BT I watch the bundesliga religiously trust me xhaka in arsenal colors is not the same xhaka in borrusia moenchenglabach!!! He was a beast. Still is just not coached right and yes he was immense in the last Euro. Go watch him again. Get his clips and you ‘ll be surprised. You don’t go from being the next “xabi Alonso” to shit all of a sudden. Otto rehagel and other top managers in Germany expected him to join Bayern as alonso’s replacement but he chose us.

  57. Goonster says:

He also made the bundesliga team of the Year. Displacing a lot of world class talent to get into that illustrious 11! I can’t wait for the next manager. That’s when we ‘ll really the the players we scouted and bought. These wengerized version is just not working for me.

  58. Goonster says:

Yep we had a chance to sign him yet opted for sanogo…lmao you just can’t make this up. Greizmann with a peach for atleti’s second.

  59. BT62 Gooner says:

Goonie, saw every game he played at the Euro and thought he was bang average and don’t get me started on his penalty miss.

  60. Goonster says:

BT lol don’t know which games you were watching mate but bar the penalty miss xhaka was imperious. Look he’s not a DM or a box to box player. Don’t expect him to slide around or dribble pass 6 players and lay a killer pass to lacasette. He’s a deep lying midfielder. Short side ways passes aren’t his thing. He thrives on long cross field balls. This guy can pick a pass even if you ‘re on mars. Like I said you don’t go from being the next big thing to shite over night. He’s not the first nor would he be the last to be ruined by Lord Wenger.

  61. Lee says:

You could pick the best starting 11 on the planet give them to Wenger to manage and he’d fuck up……… the immediate problem is him and has been for ages! Give this crop of players to a hungry and tactically aware manger and some of these players might get back to their best!!

  62. BT62 Gooner says:

Saw them all Goonie….the earlier games certainly suited him..slow and boring the might of Albania and Romania….Most of his great long passes seem like they’re heading to Mars..

  63. Lee says:

I heard loads about Xhaka before he came to us and I’ve been totally underwhelmed……Kante would of been a better buy imo.

Welbeck being kept in front of Giroud?

  64. Goonster says:

If I didn’t watch him play for borrusia moenchenglabach I ‘ll probably believe he’s shit BT but I saw this guy break into the basle team then got a move to Germany. I ve followed his career ever since. Wish we get a more pragmatic manager then we ‘ll all see the real granit xhaka!

  65. BT62 Gooner says:

    Like your 2-1 predication…lol
    I’m jesting Goonie

A new manager would lift performances…and get rid off some the shit that are not the required standard..

  66. Meerkat says:

I’m properly in meltdown mode now. Some of the stuff on Twitter is just too much to bear.

No battlers but twelve bottlers. Shite manager who still doesn’t get it. He is the problem.
We are gonna be relegated within three years if he gets another contract.

  67. Goonster says:

See that’s the problem lol kante and xhaka are 2 different players. One is a dm/box ti box while the other is a deep lying midfielder ala pirlo. Put pirlo( one of the greatest midfielders ever) in that arsenal team and he ‘ll be slaughtered in a minute. His lack of pace ‘ll be his downfall but what did allegri and conte before him do?? Get a combative box to box player in Vidal and another in pogba to compensate for his lack of pace besides the pace of the game I England is much more faster than it is in Germany. Who is our DM or box to box midfielder?? Lol

  68. Goonster says:

Meerkat I got off Twitter hours ago. It’s suicidal being on there. Don’t go back till after the game against shitty at the emirates. Do yourself a favor get wasted like am presently doing ?????

  69. Goonster says:

Yeah boy I love me some JD too. Ever had it with lime??? My Russian friend did it with vodka then we ran out and pulled out a bottle of JD and we went nuts.

  70. Goonster says:

Scouts honor BT he really wanted to. Much like hazard mata et al. Like it or not Wenger still has that pulling power on players but he might have lost it after tonight but for real kante was arsenal bound but Chelsea gazzumped us. It’s a known fact.

  71. Joaquim Moreira says:

In addition to the quality difference of the players, the main difference lies in the speed: in thinking, in running, in execution, in attacking the ball, etc.
The solution:Joaquim Moreira come in and Wenger out

  72. BT62 Gooner says:

Don’t think i have….plenty of limes in the fridge the o/h is on the Gin thing these days….

    Fresh limes or cordial Goonie?

  73. Goonster says:

I’m right now I ‘ll take javi Garcia to steady the ship till the summer then get sarri, jardim or hassenhuttl. Those are the pick of the litter now but we ‘ll probably still be stuck with him till 2019????he’s like a tick on a dog he won’t leave until he’s sucked the life out of arsenal!

  74. Goonster says:

Doucoure*spelling* wants to join arsenal all because of Lord Wenger. So there you have it. They think he’s all that until they sit under his coaching regiments for a week then they all see him for the fraud he is.

  75. Goonster says:

Rocks BT….jeez Luis now I have to get a bottle of JD after am done with this tequila. Thanks arsene Wenger. You ‘re ruining my liver and kidneys. Thanks a lot.

  76. Meerkat says:

Yep Rico, I have. I think what clinched it, was seeing the new players being ineffective when there had been a lot of hope they would turn the tide. Then I looked at Wenger and saw someone who didn’t have a clue what to do about it. He just throws them all into the mix and sees where they land up. Selecting Iwobi, who I can’t stand seeing in an Arsenal shirt, hammered it home.
I also see now that his paternal, soft spoken style just doesn’t cut it these days. They often need a rollicking, but I don’t think he’s got one in him! I tried to imagine today what he would say during, halftime and after the match. I just can’t see him tearing into them, even in the privacy of the changing rooms.
I still don’t wish him harm, but he just has to move away from the team and get someone in who will kick arses, on the feild and during coaching. Those prima donnas are having it far too easy.

  77. rico says:

I don’t wish him harm either Meerkat, just the sack. You’re right, he’s to pink and fluffy and it does the players no good at all..

  78. Adam says:

Hi BT. Both well thanks and best to you and yours.
Just off to bed. Perhaps Arsene will come to the same conclusions that most of us seem to have. 🙂
    Night all….

  79. Dublingunner says:

Evening Rico and the house, hope all is well, Sabbatical is the way forward, trust me, see what it done for pep.

It definitely broadens perspective, makes one realise that theres more to life than the daily rigour, heartache and frustration of supporting a club i have no faith or belief in anymore,

not one match have I put myself through the pain of watching this season, I have to say I feel the better man for it, No I can honestly say, in this case, absence does not make the heart grow fonder,

Sabbatical, till this fraud leaves, is definitely the way forward….

  80. Goonster says:

BT am still here in Arnhem that is. Leaving on Thursday but will be back again in 3 months trying to make this visit a very frequent thing. Mama is getting quite old.

  81. Goonster says:

Still has a job after the debacle yesterday I see. God this club just don’t ever learn. You would think we ‘ll wake up to “arsenal sacks Wenger after 22 years at the job” but Noooo he’s still here. Still ruining the club one day at a time. Get this fraud out NOW!

  82. Lee says:

The only thing Wenger has improved is the speed at which players decline after joining Arsenal.

Morning Dublin, Lee, Goonie and all.

Bt, I’m allowed to stay up late these days… lol

I reckon the end of Wenger gets closer each day….

  84. potter says:

Third goal went in, mass exodus and a big punch up on the concourse between Wenger in and out blokes.

    Welcome to 2018 Arsenal

    From the online gooner forum.

    How sad is this.

  85. potter says:

Another quote :- I have to say, Wenger is brilliant!

    Utterly brilliant. Seriously.

To make millions per year by doing absolutely nothing. It’s pure brilliance.

To do it all with a straight face. To sit there and watch us, season after season, regress into the laughing stock we are with a straight face……genuine

  86. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. I imagine that Wenger is more concentrated on his legacy rather than AFC. After all, he has never walked away from a contract. I think I read that somewhere. 🙂
Oh and that he has managed 10 thousand games and made 20 thousand substitutions (most of them around the 73rd minute.
And let’s not forget the mental strength involved either. 🙂

  87. potter says:

Hi Rico :- If it was the comment about fighting it was a person calling himself Eboue – Why. on the online gooner thread. I wasn’t there so I can’t be definitive but I can’t see why he would say it if it did not happen. albeit it may have been just a few or a mass brawl I don’t know.

I’m not sure how everyone felt where I was, Entrance H, block 139, but I didn’t hear anyone sticking up for Wenger when most of the people around me were opinionating that he should go!

I’ve never been to an Arsenal Cup final and seen so many empty seats at our end before the finish. We left with barely 5 minutes on the clock, we heard the whistle go as we got outside the stadium and although it was crowded it was clear that hundreds had left well before the final whistle, because the crowd wasn’t anywhere as busy as it should have been.
I think that several hundred left at 2-0 and many many more on 3-0.
The worst performance by an Arsenal team in a Cup final that I’ve witnessed and I include Swindon and Ipswich in that critique.
