Morning guys.
I’m not sure what to make of all this gushing over Mikel Arteta. I’m sure we all get it, he’s learned from Pep, he bagged up many of his ways, added his own ideas to all he learned before walking back into Arsenal and shaking the place up a bit. It’s no big deal really but because a shakeup like this has been so long overdue, the deal has become greater than it should.
New signing Pablo Mari had much to say about his fellow countryman before the ink had dried on his loan contract, David Luiz and even Mesut Ozil has spoken out about how much better things are since the departure of Unai Emery. The latest is Bernd Leno.
Before it was, I don’t want to say a mess, it was a little bit confusing, everybody was doing different things and we were not a team – not in the dressing room, not on the pitch, and you could see this. I think with Mikel it changed completely. The first day he came he was not talking too much about tactics, he was talking about how we behave in the dressing room, when we go to the games we have to be more professional, more like a team.
I think it is not only what he has learned from Pep Guardiola, when you talk with all of the people that worked with him, they say he’s a very clever guy with tactics and how to improve players.
At the moment we don’t have to talk about the Premier League title because Man City and especially Liverpool, they are too strong. Honestly, we have to say that they are on another level.
Matteo Guendouzi though, has decided to talk about himself and he clearly doesn’t suffer from a lack of confidence:
I think that I have a certain status in the team now. I have been able to show that I can perform well so I now need to be consistent, always help the team, always give it my best and always play well on the pitch.
I think I improved and that my level increased a lot this year. I really think that I have hit many milestones and moved up a good few notches. I am even better than last season. My objective is to always keep making progress and that is what I will do in the years to come, keep on improving so I can be the best.
Well he certainly believes in his own ability and performances doesn’t he?Thank goodness he added the bit about further improvement because I think he’s a way to go yet. Removing the annoying little habits from his game would help enormously, like falling over and grabbing hold of the ball before the ref has blown for a foul and his reluctance to pass the ball forwards. That might sound like I’m being harsh but if he’s to become the player he and perhaps many others think he can, those little bad habits will make the difference. I compare him to Willock in a way and the biggest difference between the two is that when when Willock comes on, he likes to get the ball and drive forward, get at the defence and add some purpose to our attack. Ok, it doesn’t always come off but at least he shows some intent. Intent and pace which our attacking play in general is seriously lacking. But that’s another story.
Going back to where I started though and all the positives coming from the players. Personally speaking, I think they’d be better off staying away from the microphone and concentrate on playing football because actions speak louder than words. It’s easy to talk, harder to walk. The change in individual performances is clear to see but as a team, there’s a long way to go yet.
Also, I don’t think it’s fair on Mikel Arteta. He’s already under the media spotlight and nothing would probably please them more than to see him fail. All the time the players are blowing smoke up his chuffer, that pressure will grow, expectations will grow too yet before we know it, those positive words will be used against them and their coach at the first opportunity. Not just by the media either.
Keep quiet I say and let the football do the talking.
Morning Rico, great post and well said!
Totally agree, rather than giving the manager lip service, get out there on the pitch and show him and the fans what you can do and how good he is.
When we have won something or at least put some performances together, then maybe we can do some talking.
Morning Mike, thanks.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I get fed up with players talking. They should embarrassed after the way they performed under Unai Emery, and Arsene Wenger before then for some of them.
We might have our views on managers and players etc, but had they all worked a lot harder, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
I don’t often read Untold Arsenal but their headline caught my eye this morning so I did.

Very good I thought and something often forgotten when Liverpool fans blame everyone bar themselves for Hillsborough.
I think that until the end of the season, there will be a comparison between Arsenal and Everton: in scoring, in the final place and in the final performance of the team and the coach.
I can see why you suggest that Jm.
Morning all.
Rico, Liverpool supporters are the greatest load of self indulgent wankers on the planet!
Nothing is ever their fault, and they’re the unluckiest club on the planet-just ask their fans lol
99.9% of them only realise their club won when they wake up and see the 9am news reports.
I hate their fans (generally speaking) more than any other football group on the planet.
Don’t hold back Scott. 😜
Hi All we all know that not every player and coach get on but these players need to worry about there own game not an ex coach.
Hi Scott here is me thinking you hated Tottenham the most
Hahaha Rico.
I should emphasise the fact I’m talking about Liverpool fans here in Oz.
They’re a different breed.
Hi Geoff.
Tottenham aren’t favourites of mine lol
G’day all, like the post Rico.
Advise to all footballers. Mouth shut, mind open. 😉
Is there a difference then Scott? Lol
Great post rico, as usual.
@ Scott. I cannot disagree more on your analysis of Liverpool supporters.
On my experiences, they are one of the most learned and fair supporters in England, IMO.
I would like to give just one experience I had with Liverpool supporters if I may.
At Wembley 1971, FA Cup final. I could only get a ticket in the Liverpool end. Being young, foolish and stupid(?), i went to the game.
When we scored our equaliser I stayed quiet and just got excited inside. But, when Charlie George scored THAT goal, the winner, I could not contain myself and jumped for joy, together with singing and dancing amid the whole Liverpool supporters.
I hasten to say, not one piece of nasty action was sent my way. You can imagine my relief when I calmed down and realised what I had done.
This I feel goes someway to summing up the fair minded supporters that they are.
I would also like to mention…….It was a different story when I went to Wembley FA Cup final when we beat ManUre 3-2. Thank you Alan Sunderland
I managed to get a ticket in the Arsenal end this time.
There were plenty of Manc supporters up our end. Many started to disappear just before they scored their 1st goal. But when they scored their second and equalised towards the end they all came rushing back. I won’t be too explicit, as this is a family site, but Arsenal supporters around me had to wipe themselves down and nurse some unwanted bruises.
From that day to this, I have loathed their supporters, who I may add haven’t changed a jot.
Just saying.
Thanks Vcc, great couple of stories there.
Shame you haven’t the hat trick under your belt with Anfield 89. Lol
Three great results for the Arsenal, must have be incredible being part of it.
Seriously though, you must have got lucky that day because the majority of Liverpool fans I know are a smug lot and not particularly nice. Apart from those in my family of course, well, sometimes…
Great post, Rico…. and I followed the link to Untold… great article 👍
Have to agree with ScottfromOz… what an arrogant, big headed bunch the scouse fans are… can’t stand them….. and I’m dreading May….. and beyond… God help us haha!
Thanks Sue. We’ll stop them going unbeaten… lol
Your posts are getting better Rico……………….are you being trained by Mikel? 🙂
To me Bindipper fans are the most biased of fans and they were probably being nice to VCC whilst their mates where stealing the wheels of his car!
The thought of a room full of lonely frustrated Bindippers singing…………”You`ll never wank alone!”………….if they beat our 49 unbeaten run and become invincible is too much to take!
I hope win next game but we stay in 10th. again.
I hope so, Rico…. shut them up for at least 5 minutes 😀
Nice read………………

Unlike your humour Lc… 😆
Jm, you worry about the table too much, best wait until the end of May. Lol
Fingers crossed Sue.
Morning all.
VCC, I added in my next comment that I was talking about fans of the club here in Oz, even the ex-pats.
I don’t know any of them that actually sit up to ungodly hours and watch games, they’ve been very quiet for years and suddenly, they’re vocal, and their numbers have grown 🙂 🙂
Drives me mad footballers who love to talk the talk.Actions speak louder than words.
Sue, if they finish unbeaten, I’ll head to a little cabin in the woods of Tasmania for a year 🙂
Scott.. that doesn’t bear thinking about, does it?? Bad enough winning the league, but unbeaten!! I was thinking of heading to Antarctica at the start of May (to miss all the celebrating and drooling) and come back at the start of next season.. but if they’re invincible, I may as well just stay there 😂
A year, hey?! You’d have thought the bragging would’ve died down by then!!
Sue, that’s true.
They’re still talking about their deeds from 30 years ago 🙂
Morning all.
Liverpool have to play City at the Etihad yet I think, I Hope Pep does us a favour…
VCC you should have been on the North Bank when they stormed the Gillespie road gates broke them off their hinges and beat the sh1t out of kids as they all surged behind the goal got their scarves out and sang their silly song for the cameras .
It’s a habit that they have never got out of and their involvement in the worst crowd incidents is no surprise to me . We played them early in to our Emirates life and they tried to break through the electronic gates causing damage inside and outside the stadium .I have met a few of them through business meetings and they openly boast about the way they forced their way into older stadiums not built for purpose .
Then of course there was Heysal and of course the big one for which they have been absolved , quite how , I don’t know .
As you may have gathered I am not enamoured by them and will be absolutely gutted if they go unbeaten . But that’s life I suppose.
4 games to upset the applecart , 16/3rd away to Everton , 4/4th away Man City , 2/5th Away to Arsenal ( not holding my breath ) , and lastly 17/5th Newcastle away
We can only live in hope .
Mavropanos has been MotM in last 2 games in Germany and one was from the treatment table!
Haha don’t we know it, Scott.. be alright if I was an insomniac, they’d soon cure it 😀
Hey, Le Coq…. Arsenal women’s game against the spuds is postponed…gutted, I was looking forward to that!
Everton might be up for spoiling their fun Potter, what with the added derby incentive.
Will Bindippers come to a sticky end at the home of the Toffees?…………………..personally I think they will knock our Invincible record out of the park and the only way anyone will beat the record they are destined to get will be to play the perfect season and win every game!……………………….the car jackers have only dropped 2 points!……………incredible!……………..sickening, but incredible!…………………..I`m going down the gym to take my frustration out as they dont look like dropping a point!………………….more chance a Scouser shaving his moustashe and straightening his perm and telling an old lady that she had dropped her purse!
Hi Sue! 🙂
Mavropanos was a Mislintat signing . He believed in watching players live , as opposed to Sanhelli who seems to by the word of his super agent friends.
I’m surprised we are linked with ‘super agent’ signings because usually they cost the most money..
I read the other day that we are supposed to have secured two summer deals already. Not sure who though.
Rumour is Juve are looking to sell Aaron Ramsey. Oh dear…l
Who can ever forget the class the Scousers showed last season, when they attacked the Man City coach as it approached Anfield.
Yes VCC the Scousers are unique, a great sense of humour, a great sense of who they are and don’t they never tire of telling us all who they are.
Personally I find them boorish, ignorant braggarts, a club full of pot and glory hunters who hate us for 1989 and spoiling their divine right to win the Double.
Frankly they make me sick…
But I like Everton fans, because in general they actually come from Merseyside and follow their club because the love it rather than for all the pots they lift.
Afternoon Rico and afternoon Sue, welcome… 🙂
Afternoon Kev, the attack on the City bus was really nasty. I’d forgotten about that.
Hi Kev 🙂 Couldn’t agree more, with regards to the scousers…they make me sick too!!! Like you, I like Everton fans – I know a few – and they’re nothing like the other lot!
Rico.. Would you have Ramsey back?
400k a week-Juve are pretty bloody stupid I’d you ask me lol
They’re stuck with Rambo unless they want to subsidise his wages this next few years.
It was one strange signing, especially for a club already loaded with midfielders.
Morning all
No Sue, I wouldn’t. I’d rather we move forwards..
The biggest idiot in the Ramsey saga is his agent I think. Agents really do ruin some footballers career. Pogba is another, such a talented player going to waste in my opinion.
Highly unlikely it’d happen anyway…. now Cazorla on the other hand 😉
Everton fans are probably posh Scousers………………they will get their Butler to steal your car wheels! 😆
How was the gym, Le Coq?
Easy Cardio day, Sue, only down there I hour and 50 mins !………………………have you seen that photo of Mesut admiring your boy Kolasinac`s arms ?………………here`s the link……..calm down now hahaha
https://turkish-football.com/mesut-ozil-asks-what-arsenal-teammate-sead-kolasinac-is-eating-after-seeing-his-muscles/
Santi is getting on a bit now though… sadly.
Only an hour and 50!!! Wow… that’s some picture, Le Coq… luckily I’m typing as I wouldn’t be able to speak as my jaw has just hit the floor 😂😍😍 No doubt you’ll be taking a screen shot of that with you every time you hit the gym…..😜
He’s still banging in the goals, Rico… 8 goals/4 assists this season… compared to our midfield of 1 goal/7 assists!!
I’d have him back for a season. I do think we’ll see him back at the Emirates at some point….
Kola has screen shots of my abs! 😆
😂😂 love it!!
I should add that me and Sue know each other from another site!………………..we dont want tongues wagging! 😆
Have to agree, Sue, that I think Santi will be back and hopefully on the coaching side…………….or just for his effervescent contagious smile! 😀
Yes I reckon coaching will be more likely 👍
And then possibly an Arsenal legends game!
Gee I’d take Santi back for a season-he’s playing better than ever atm.
I’d take Ramsey back on loan, as long as Juve pay half of his wages.
Having Santiago back is a lovely though Scott, unlikely thought.
It would be great if we could play Villarreal in say the Emirates Cup, that would worth going to see…
Yeah Sue, Cocker is our physical training conscience on here, I often think of him as I bench press a cup of tea in the morning, bless him… 😀
Morning all.
Ramsey going to Juve has been an abject failure all round.
He’s a bit part player there as they are massively stocked with midfielders which begs the question why they took him, especially at such a ridiculous salary.
I doubt they’d sell him easily because who’ll pay him 400 a week?
It’s a terrible scenario and one which our club did the wrong thing, his agent chased the money for himself and Ramsey never spoke against him.
Not a party involved came out shining with this one and it’s a season totally wasted when he really should’ve been at his peak.
Santi and Rosicky were the midfielders we’ve had this past decade that when on the pitch, we were ALWAYS going forward.
No safe passing.
No sideways rubbish.
They were always looking up the pitch.
Loved the pair of them.
Hahaha, nice one, Kev!! 👍
Totally agree, Scott… they had an eye for goal too… something which our current midfield appear to be lacking. Now watch them score 2 or 3 on Sunday because I’ve just said that!!
Sue, if that’s the case then say it ever week hahahahaha
New post up now
