Arsenal open talks over Keeper signing. Cesar staying in London but with what club? Defender on the verge of departing

Morning all,

We need a ‘proper’ goal keeper, Julio Cesar is set to quit Qpr, so why not? Ok the player has said he’d stay with his current club if they retain their position in the Premier League, but even old Harry Houdini isn’t going to save them now.

So, when that final penny drops at Qpr, certain players will no doubt be looking for the fast train out, but only the tube for Cesar as he has said he’s staying in London whatever. He certainly doesn’t want to move back to Italy.

I’m still an Interista in my heart, I’m learning a new language in London, the city is beautiful and my family is happy.

I was certainly not treated well by Inter. I love Italy, but I’ve been won over by the environment here.

Chelsea are reported to be the club to finally tempt Asmir Begović away from Chelsea, that lot down the road seem to have a good guy in Lloris, West Ham have Jussi Jaaskelainen so that leaves Fulham. Cesar must be off to Fulham but wait, they have Mark Schwarzer and are quite heavily linked to Maarten Stekelenburg. He looked destined to join Martin Jol’s side back in January but the guy changed his mind, according to the red tops of course.

Ah, us, what about the best club in London, maybe Cesar is setting his heart on a move to The Emirates?

Exciting stuff eh..

Then this morning, my theory gets blown out of the water as most of the redtops report that, having failed to land Asmir Begović in January, we have gone back to Stoke in attempt to sort a deal out for the summer. £15 million is the price quoted. He’s hot property but will only move to a club where he will be guaranteed the number one shirt. That’s us in then.

I strongly suspect that Stoke will want to see a few sides involved in a bidding war come the end of the season and they get as much for their player as they can. That’s us out then!

It’s probably all huff and puff though isn’t it, if it’s in the newspapers, forget it I always think…..

George Graham wrote us off at the beginning of the season. He was right to but he now believes we will finish in a Champions League position:

I fancy Arsenal to finish in the top four. I didn’t earlier in the season but now they’re favourites and could maybe even end up third.

Tottenham have been outstanding this season. In the games I saw them play earlier this season I thought they would definitely be in the top four. But if you look at the fixture list they have got a very, very hard run-in.

Arsenal’s only real tough game is away at Manchester United. Arsene Wenger has been under a lot of pressure and criticism this season, some of it is justified. However, when it comes to the run in at the end of the season he’s been fantastic.

They’re not the Arsenal of old but they’re picking up important points and playing with a lot of confidence.

Georgie boy, keep up old chap. We play Manchester United at The Emirates, not at Old Trafford!! 🙄

Other news relates to Martin Angha, our young defender who was by all accounts the next defender to break into the first team squad. However, he’s not, in fact he’s off if we believe the story going around yesterday on Twitter:

Arsenal’s Martin Angha will undergo a medical at Nürnberg today and is expected to sign a 4-year deal with the club soon.

I was quite shocked to read that but if that’s a Bould decision, then hopefully it’s the right one.

The last bit for today relates to Arshavin, suggestion is he is going to retire from the game at the end of the season.

Some would say he did just that a good few months ago…

What a waste of a player who offered so much, yet quite frankly, in an Arsenal shirt, produced so little.

How is career fell so rapidly is anyone’s guess, but I’m sure we all have our own view…..

That’s it for another day, have a good one all….

    Good morning all
More on the Agha story is here http://www.20min.ch/sport/fussball/story/-Ich-fuehle-mich-bereit-fuer-den-Profi-Fussball–11732996

“It was not about leaving England,” Angha told German publication 20 Minuten of his decision to leave the Emirates.

“The aim was to find a club where I can play regular professional football and develop myself. I believe I found that with Nuremberg and I’m looking forward to the Bundesliga.

“We’ve been in contact for months. The people here in Nuremberg really made me understand how much they wanted me. The conditions for playing are good here although it is of course up to me to achieve.

“I feel ready for professional football, but when I look at Arsenal I see no opportunity to play 20 Premier League games.”

It’s believed Angha has signed a 4-year deal with Nuremberg with Arsenal receiving in the region of £300,000 compensation having played a part in his development.

  2. rico says:

Morning Lee, Adam, Emma and all…

Shame about Angha but I guess he’s right, he isn’t going to get into the first team any time soon…

I actually say good on him for wanting to play…

  3. emma says:

Arsenal buying a keeper will depend on if Fabianski contract is not renewed or Wenger is feed up with Szeszny.

  4. rico says:

Morning Rocky, now that would be ambition….

emma, can’t see it being renewed now, and two Poles in one club, both wanting to be number one for their country isn’t good..

    I think Fabianski is a gonner…

  5. rockyrocastle07 says:

Morning Rico. Shame, as Flappy seems to be getting up a head of steam and his confidence probably hasn’t been better than it is now. Such a strange situation regarding Ches. Hope he just gets his head down and trains like crazy.

  6. emma says:

    Hi rico,

Congratulations to the arsenal ladies for cruising into the semifinal of the ladies FA Cup after thumping birmingham 6-0

Stoke won’t get £15m for Begovic. With the exception of arsenal most top clubs(chav, manure, mcfc) wont be bidding for him as he would not want to be the 2nd choice keeper. Probably £7/8m will persuade stoke to sell but are we willing to spend that much on a keeper. If those scums could spend £12m to get Lloris why cant we?

  7. rico says:

Maybe he’s playing well to impress another club Rocky 😉

Darn emma, I missed that about the ladies, I’m slacking….

I reckon they will get that for Begovic emma, he’s class and already proved in the PL, unlike Lloris..

One footie journalist is 99% confident he is off to Chelsea…

  8. rockyrocastle07 says:

If he goes to Chelsea, does that mean Cech is going spare?! Surely Begovic won’t leave to be back-up. Know us, we’ll go in for Ross Turnbull…..

  9. rico says:

Exactly what we have been doing for years – making do in goal and it’s cost us dear. In fact the same can be said of a striker…

One season from RvP but other than that it’s been very hit and miss… Mostly miss….

  10. emma says:

rico – If he is off to the chavs I don’t see him displacing Petr Cech unless he is going there for the money and keeping the bench warm

  11. emma says:

rico – it’s more miss than hit. Get in a steady hand b/w the post, a striker that knows where the net is and a DM/Box-box to snuff out danger(intercept/tackle) and we are in for a shout in the title next season

  12. rico says:

emma – he’s made it clear he will only be first choice and in all honesty, I think he’s better than Cech…

  13. Bradster says:

    Hi All,

I was thinking how about one of the Chelsea keepers of Cech or Courtois? We could even get Vorm if Newcastle continues to struggle.
I only hope Villa go down to cash in on Benteke as I rate him better than Remy.

  14. emma says:

rico – Interesting summer ahead. Looks like arsenal are reluctant to renew Fabianski contract. There might be some element of truth in the begovic story. Probably AW has had enough with the goalkeeping situation

  15. rico says:

    Hi Bradster,

He’s at Swansea isn’t he ? Another good keeper though…

Is it Krul at Newcastle, great last season but average this?

  16. Bradster says:

My bad, thinking of Krul. But your right I wouldn’t mind Vorm either. I think Krul looks average because of how poorly Nwecastle have been playing.

  17. emma says:

Szeszny ball distribution for a PL keeper is awful to say the least. Watching the U21 the other day was even worse. His kicking and ball distribution is nothing to write home about. For Fabianski you never know when he will have his flappy moment.

  18. emma says:

rocky – Al-Habsi? Not my cup of tea 🙁 I can recall how many times he must have had is almuniaski moment b/w the goal for wigan. He is now 2nd choice

  19. rockyrocastle07 says:

That’s the thing Emma. Wih other top keepers, especially from years ago – Seaman, Kahn, Schmeichel, Van Der Sar etc, even modern keepers like Cassilas and Cech…. you knew they would be solid and unflappable. Now, especially in our keepers (and Reina!) you are just waiting for that howler they have in their locker to emerge at any moment throughout the match. That’s why you really need to go big on an established keeper.

  20. rico says:

    🙂 Brad, I always hate doing that…

Considering the spending spree they had in jan, they are still very average…

  21. rico says:

One thing seems sure though, we are going to sign a keeper …

And isn’t Seaman or Jens coming back to coach?

  22. rockyrocastle07 says:

Hope Spunky or Mad Jens does come back and coach. We need someone a bit more current than Peyton et al.

  23. Scott from Oz says:

Why do we want a keeper in his prime??
We all complain about the club not giving our ounger guys a fair crack, only to see them fade away or go elsehwere, and now that is what people want??
Szczesny is a very young keeper who was thrown into our top spot through no falt of his own.
Anyone can see he is an immense talent but lacks experience.
He has, in parts, shown how brilliant he can be, but consistency comes with maturity and maturity comes with age.
This line of thought goes against everything people say alut other young players, so just because Szczesny was launched into a position he was not mentally ready for we want to crucify him?
Sorry guys, but that is ridiculous.
Schwarzer, Freidl….a keep in their mid to late 30’s is exactly what we need, and exactly what Szcesny needs.
    Wouldn’t hurt Fabianksi, either.

  24. Scott from Oz says:

Also, i reckon people ignore the fact that every keeper named has made howlers this season.
No, i did not mention these balls filled with fairy floss 🙂

  25. rockyrocastle07 says:

Fair point Scott but I’m fed up with waiting for a keeper to reach his potential. Our defence suffer as a direct result by the way of having no confidence in a keeper. I now want a quality, established keeper who can instantly shore up the defence. We don’t need to promote youth all the time. Sometimes, in key areas, you need proven quality rather than younglings or has-beens. Christ, we’ve got the cash, so why not use it.

  26. rockyrocastle07 says:

Keepers make the odd howler. But so does every player. Just hurts more when a keeper does as it has a direct impact on the score!

  27. rico says:

Sorry Scott, I don’t think Ches is good enough and I don’t think he will be for a while, if at all..

personal choice I guess and i am fed up with watching goal keepers gift the opponent goals….

  28. rockyrocastle07 says:

I really do love Chezzer and REALLY hope he sorts himself out. What’s to stop him challenging a keeper in his prime if he works hard and fulfills the potential he sees in himself? If he’s good enough, he’ll play.

  29. rockyrocastle07 says:

Thing also about Chezzer, Scott, is that he can’t come out as mouthy and arrogant as he is one minute then claim he’s not mentally ready the next. He should have kept his mouth shut. He (like a lot of us… me included) is far too opinionated.

  30. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, i never suggested we should not buy a keeper!
I said we should get someone who can help the kid along…..big difference.
Rocky, mouthing off is the ultimate show of immaturity though.
Rico, he makes no more mistakes than Joe Hart from long range.
For some reason he cops more criticism though.
I would love to know why…maybe becuase Joe is such a nice, humble lad?
Szczesny will be a world class keeper, there is no doubt about that.
    He is a baby.
Off all the keepers have mentioned, name one who stood out at 22.

  31. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, go back….i did not say he hasn’t been given a chance at all.
He was way, way too young to be thrown in the deep end at a club as big as ours and that was NOT his fault.
That is what i said and that is a fact.

  32. Scott from Oz says:

    De Gea…seriously?
He makes as many if not more howlers.
He is a replica of Szczesny…makes world class saves then lets soft ones in.

  33. rockyrocastle07 says:

If you’re good enough Scott, you’re old enough. Cassilas was 17 whan he was playing for Real Madrid! A club ever so slightly bigger than Arsenal!

  34. rico says:

    Scott

‘We all complain about the club not giving our ounger guys a fair crack, only to see them fade away or go elsehwere, and now that is what people want’??

That to me suggests you believe he hasn’t been given a chance?

  35. rico says:

Yes he made howlers early season for Manure, but at AM he was awesome hence fergie getting in there when he was 19/20 years old and I think he is still only 20 but he is getting better each week imho…

Plus, he’s never told the world he’s a great keeper…

  36. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, he has been given a chance too early in his career and with too much pressure on.
How is that being given a chance?
If i bring Sean over now and Wenger gives him a run, can i bring him back and think “oh well, he had his chance”?
Tell me this guys……at what age does a keeper hit his prime??
Is it 22 or a decade later??

  37. rockyrocastle07 says:

Not sure how old Schmeichel was when he was playing regularly at a top level… Kahn was slightly older at 24/25 when he was regularly playing at Bayern… Another bigger team than us.

  38. rockyrocastle07 says:

One straight off the top of my head that I mentioned on an earlier post. plus onethat was a couple of years later. Not sure about Seaman Schmeichel or Van Der Sar.

  39. rockyrocastle07 says:

I agree Scott, I also believe a decade later. But earlier you said you don’t want someone in their prime to come in. That means a 30-odd year old. How would hat harm Ches if, by your own admission, he won’t be in his prime for another 10 years? He can only benefit from that situation surely?

  40. Scott from Oz says:

I will put it this way.
I would much rather see Szczesny coming into first team football now that 18 months ago.
Even better would see him coming in another 18 months.
A club like Arsenal with its fans beying for blood, being constantly told they aren’t good enough, constantly reminded they haven’t won a trophy for so many years, and with a string of failed keepers is hardly the time or place for a young, cocky keeper to be making his first debut in my humble opinion.

  41. rico says:

But it was Ches who said he was good enough Scott, he said I am good enough to be Arsenal number one and unless i am i will leave… or similar.

I don’t have a problem with Ches, just don’t think he’s good enough ‘right now’ to be our number one goal keeper….

  42. rockyrocastle07 says:

Must we wait, suffering 10 years of mediocre performances (again, as you said, letting soft goals in) until we can finally benefit from a keeper in his prime? Not for me. Get a quality keeper in now.

  43. rockyrocastle07 says:

Right, I’m off for a bit. God I’ve missed the banter on here!! Catch you in a bit Scott / Rico / anyone else!

  44. rico says:

Rubbish Scott, I said – I don’t think Ches is good enough and I don’t think he will be for a while, if at all..

Just my view, and it’s no different to your ‘he will be a world class keeper’ view, we just differ.

And, as always, only time will tell who is right..

  45. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

A good post Rico, a sign that you are still happy with AW 😉

Rico, I know you want Cesar as our goalie… the offer to marry him is still on… 😀

Getting rid of goalie coach at the club… Not Matt Poom please. 😀

Gkers are like world class strikers… they are hard to find. I think with goalies clubs just have to get lucky.

e.g was Cech good or decent at Rennes? Why did all the big clubs miss out on him when he was leaving Sparta?

A keeper doing well at a club aiming for 10th may not be capable of handling the pressure at a club where finishing 4th is a trophy… 😉

  46. Scott from Oz says:

Rocky, if we get a top class keeper in his prime Szczesny will leave and everyone will blame Wenger for allowing another of our players of the future for going.
Szczesny is a player of the future.
Get an older keeper who would love a chance at top club but realises he will be as much a mentor as anything else, and i think it would work perfectly.

  47. Scott from Oz says:

    Hiya Ginge.
That comment on keepers at clubs fighting for tenth goes for all players and managers.
I’d love the secret to knowing lol

  48. tsgh says:

They will do Scott… but have our keepers been considerably worse than other keepers… I have seen Begovic and Cesar make comical mistakes too… but some will say they would have better defenders in front of them at arsenal… then go on about about getting defenders from those teams… 😉

  49. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rocky – Re: your 11:36 Add me to the the list; but if we didn’t have our own opinions to discuss, sometimes strong ones, Highbury House would be a much less interesting place. At least you can discuss your opinions here without being blown out of the water if they differ from those of the majority.

  50. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, it is interesting everyone wants Fabianski gone as well.
What is our record since he came back…pretty solid i reckon.
Then again, it just MUST be because Wenger has let Bould do his job again lol
There is just always an excuse.

  51. George says:

    Afternoon all,

My 2ps worth on the goalies..

Szczesny should fight for no1, we should sign a top top keeper.

As well as Fabianski has performed, he has done no better thzan Mannone and both should be sold on in the summer. In fact, I think Mannone will go onto have a more succesfull career than Fabianski, but Fabianski is rightly no1 at the moment on merit and to attract a club in the summer. Shop window for both.

O shea is gonna be moved on and Martinez may get the nod as our no3.

Who Id like us to go for is someone like Akinfeev, Valdes or even Simon Mignolet, who goes under the radar and is very underrated at Sunderland.

  52. Canadian Gooner says:

Szczesny reminds me a bit of Nicklas Bendtner, tending to shoot from the lip without much thought. I think Szczesny would benefit from having real competition for the starting position. He hasn’t had that for some time until recently with the return of Fabianski to full fitness. I think constant competition will improve both players. It’s to early to write the young fellow off. However, if one of them is going to go, a player like Cesar would be ideal.

  53. Scott from Oz says:

Everyone…well, most…say Bould must be doing his job again and that is why our defence is good atm.
Not too much credit is going to Fabianksi.
Nobody is now suggesting that Szczesny was unlucky in that he was playing behind backs that were not being coached though.
    See what i mean?
People are attacking the kid because he has a big mouth.
Plenty asked why we let Lansbury go.
Had he NOT played first team football?
Did we NOT buy top class and established players at the time?
Oh, but Henri was a nice guy and not cocky.
I did not want hm to go, but i reckon if we buy Casillas or Cech or one of the others named, Szczesny will go and it will be the same situation.
We only miss them when they are gone.

  54. Scott from Oz says:

Sorry George…can i add we are defending as a team as well though?
Our guys up the pitch a working much harder than earlier in the season.

  55. W.A.T.H says:

    Afternoon All,

My 2 penneth on Chez is that your going a little OTT on people saying we will miss him if he goes Scott I think as you well know most on here are more than sensible. The back four has been all over the place at times this season and that has not helped Chez but he has also not helped himself, I think when you look at his season compared to last he has gone backwards for what ever reasons. Yes keepers are at their peak from 25/26 onwards I would say but we as a club can’t wait around for that and if you say we should get a 35/36 yr old keeper as a short term option we were saying that 2/3 years ago yet Arsene did his own thing. I reckon Chez could maybe go out on loan for a season but then we are left without a decent number 2… Want young keeper with any ambition wants to sit on the bench for a season? catch 22 but he needs to play to improve and he also needs to shut his gob.

  56. tsgh says:

re 12:48…May I add that the ‘not favourite’ players who have come in are more tactically focused imho… thereby making us a little more balanced.

  57. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, the loan option is a good idea.
We would miss im if he left as plenty would be blaming Wenger for it happening again mate.
I don’t see how he has gone backwards though.
Every keeper n the PL is making more mistakes of long range shots…every single one of them.
Joe Hart is apparently the best in the league…he has let plenty of long bombs in and i still say the keepers are being done no favours.
Anyway, if we get an absolute world class keeper, we may well be fast tracking the club forward a few years anyway, so Szczesny going may not be such a loss.
The blame game will still be played though.

  58. Scott from Oz says:

    Ginge, why mention Ramsey lol.
I said it the other day…not sure if anone responded.
Is it too soon to call Monreal a world class LB??
He has been superb for us.

  59. rico says:

I actually think there is one reason and one reason only for us playing well….

And that is players have been told they could lose money if we don’t get into the champions league…

    Off again..

    Hi CG, George and Ts…

  60. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott – I think DD is correct and we will spend big. I think Arsene tried to move more players on or out last season, but wasn’t as successful as he hoped and he seems to be getting more ruthless with the Academy players.

  61. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – You may be right, but whatever the reason, our players seem more motivated than they were at the start of the season.

  62. Adam says:

It’s a good job these modern balls don’t move in the air like the older ones though isn’t it? It would make life harder for goalkeepers I think.

  63. Scott from Oz says:

    Hi Adam,
I never said they move more than old balls, they just move any which way they feel, and late, and add to that the fact the dip and swerve like never before and it spells trouble for a keeper.
They even move two or three different ways in flight.
The old balls never did that.
Watch the save Cech made last week….that ball in flight says it all, and we have never seen anything like it.
    Goooone now….

  64. Adam says:

Hi Scott. No, I never said that you said etc..etc..
It was merely my own observation and not based on anything you did or didn’t say.

  65. W.A.T.H says:

I wasn’t talking about cock up’s Scott, many keepers make mistakes and Joe Hart has been awful this year but in general I think Chez has gone backwards for sure, his all round game, his distribution decision making many things that all make me think he’s not improved at all this season. Maybe it’s a big head syndrome maybe he does need to be pushed maybe he needs to be No1 somewhere out of the limelight a little… we won’t know til it happens but still refer to George Graham when he bought Seaman…. Why have you bought David Seaman George? many fans are upset when you have a very good keeper in John Lukic… Well yes John is a very good goalkeeper but for me David is a great keeper…! That comment says it all and thats what we should be aiming for.

  66. rockyrocastle07 says:

Scott – re your12.45: – : My 10:17 praised Flappy. He’s doing a great job. Most likely due to the fact he’s knuckled down and fought for his place.

People saying Mignolet – I totally agree.

  67. tsgh says:

    hi Kev, Rocky, Adam…

I prefer William “Fatty” Foulke…. wait you have to hear my reason for that… 😀

  68. rockyrocastle07 says:

Afternoon Ts. How’s things? Sorry, been out for an hour so still catching up! What’s the Foulke connection then?

I’d have Trautmann – Nothing stopped that man!

  69. tsgh says:

I just miss days of fat goalies with pony tails…

hi Rocky… I was expecting you to turn up last week for your namesakes anniversary….

    have you heard of Stevia…

  70. rockyrocastle07 says:

sweated like a pig did, Southall. Apparently didn’t smell too chipper either. What a keeper though.

  71. tsgh says:

    😀

Adam re 1:54… I have heard that before… go a head just admit to it… next you will be telling me WATH told you 😀

  72. rockyrocastle07 says:

Was a bit on the busy side Ts. Getting harder for me to get on here these days! I was driving the wife here there and bloody everywhere on Rockys anniversary.

Stevia as in the sweetener? Heard contrasting opinions on the whole blood pressure / diebetic side of things with that. I guess it’s like on this site…. One person’s opionion is not always agreed with by others! All depends on who you ask!

  73. rockyrocastle07 says:

BUt I don’t have added sugar in anything anyway so as a sweetener it’s of no major benefit. Jury’s out regarding blood pressure etc though. May ask my Consultant to see what he thinks.

  74. tsgh says:

What happened to goalies wearing long tracksuits bottoms and having padding on the thigh and elbows on their jerseys? All these fancy shorts and short sleeves affect performance i reckon…lol

  75. Canadian Gooner says:

You leave for a few minutes and things go from the sublime to the ridiculous. Fatty Foulke, Neville Southall, where will it end?

  76. rockyrocastle07 says:

The gut who used to play for Palace (I think – Bulgarian maybe?) used to wear light grey tracksuit bottoms! Looked terrible as they were really baggy!

I know CG! That’s why we love it here!

  77. tsgh says:

true… its a difficult… my father started having the leaves as tea and taking the sweetener and his bp has improved he says to how it use to be when he was in his 30’s… but then he has cut down on salt too so…

  78. rockyrocastle07 says:

I still wear GK bottoms – Padded on the knee and thigh (But then I do play on astroturf or that rubber crumb stuff).

  79. rockyrocastle07 says:

All helps Ts. I never add salt to anything at all – never have. But some stuff is so high in salt it’s ridiculous.

  80. Canadian Gooner says:

TSGH – Taibi, was he the ManUre keeper who never had the right length of studs for the field conditions? No one has mentioned the great Rhodesian/Zimbabwe international Bruce Grobelar.

  81. rockyrocastle07 says:

Kiraly, that’s the chap! Surely he must have realised (a) he looked like a complete cock, and (b) the fact no-one from a top club ever wanted him must have been an indication of how good he was. What a clown.

Cereal IS really bad. Shredded wheat in the summer, porridge in the winter for me.

  82. rockyrocastle07 says:

Chezzer seems to have developed the same love of rushing well ouf of his box that Grob had!

  83. rockyrocastle07 says:

Seems that film’s been on every bloody day this month! Still love it though! Just for his face when he saves the penalty!

  84. Canadian Gooner says:

I’ll have to get my computer checked. I logged onto Highbury House, but seem to have been redirected to a farcical comedy site. Is this what happens when Rico goes missing for an extended period?

Anyway, it is the wee hours of the morning here, so I’ll bid you allGood Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night. Till tomorrow and thanks for the laughs.

  85. allezkev says:

Adam, I knew that I would be pushing at an open door, when I suggested ‘Finger’s Jim’.

With his steely features and steely grey hair, patrolling the penalty area, his Scouse wit barely comprehensible (except by Emma), he was a keeper that gave our defence a feeling of invincibilty.

Well until the game started, that is… 😀

Hiya Ginge, I am not as old as I sound, honest….

    Afternoon Gooners
Afternoon Rico, Lee, Wath, Canuck (back from the Rockies), one and all….. And Rocky…. 😉

    Busy busy, lata you lot….

  86. W.A.T.H says:

Rocky your 2:12… he was Hungarian….! agreed he looked a right pratt although Adam has a pair just like them, they come in handy when Mrs A kicks him out into the shed.

  87. W.A.T.H says:

So what you lot make of David Dein saying Wenger WILL spend big in the summer…???

Now we can hardly use his comments as spin to sell season tickets can we..?

  88. rico says:

🙂 Wath, well I hope that from DD is finally true….

Maybe AW has told him the club needs a hand to sell ST’s…

  89. Adam says:

Just back in from Westfield. I have seem living, breathing organisms today that seen barely viable.
Is Jabba really in and is syrup potentially out? Please say it is so.

  90. Adam says:

We get looked terrible at the weekend. I have written to him suggesting Clinique moisturiser for his pale, dry skin.

  91. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rico – probably spending more money wooing buck-toothed scrotey French rapping bints…..

  92. rico says:

Another young one on his way out:

BRENTFORD have offered a deal to Arsenal youngster Josh Rees.
The midfielder impressed during a loan spell at Griffin Park recently, making several appearances for the club’s development side.

And the Hemel Hempstead-born 19-year-old has done enough to be given a contract in TW8.

However, Rees, who has returned to the Gunners, is weighing up his options, with a number of other clubs also interested in his services.

  93. Adam says:

I just asked the consultant in Boots for her opinion on that Rico. She measured my skin with a laser beam device before getting me in a headlock.

  94. ArsenalDK says:

Hello everyone, just read that United are in pole position to sign Falcao for around 50 million Euro. Anyone heard? Also just read in a Bosnian newspaper that we are very interested in Begovic.

  95. Adam says:

Lee. I am sorry you noticed that. Today I am suffering from events that occurred yesterday evening. They have left me all fingers and thumbs and caused my grammar gland to move out of alignment so I am posting with gay abandon and saying things that don’t make sense to any reasonable person. Like that!

  96. Adam says:

But United don’t have anyone to give him the ball do they? They look a long-ball team to me at the moment with the booming ball over the top from Giggs, who looks seedier and more insidiously depraved than ever. I thought that the other evening City looked a different class as far as midfield creativity goes. Where would that leave the old grey badger?

  97. rico says:

Haha Adam, and you final decision is?

I nearly edited that comment to ‘Wenger’ but I thought what the heck, it’s a rare moment…. 😉

  98. rico says:

Hi Adk, maybe RvP will want to come back then, unless Rooney is off….

The Daily Express reckon it’s Simon Mignolet we are after….

  99. Adam says:

Going 3 rounds mano a mano with Carol Vorderman has drained me Rico. I am in uncharted waters now. The sight of her in those white leggings was scary.

  100. rockyrocastle07 says:

And lets face it (no pun intended)…. he was no looker before that was he?! OK, he was no Nigel Spink in the looks department but he was hardly blessed with the face of Beckham was he?!

  101. rockyrocastle07 says:

She CAN be very insistant Adam (Is that even a word?!). Comes at the same time news of Arshavin’s marriage has broken down. Maybe AA23 is a fan of it….

  102. Lee says:

You know why D.v.O’s marriage has broken down? Her husband refused to perform D.A.W….so she called it off in disgust!

  103. rockyrocastle07 says:

Lee…. Maybe he was getting tired of his hampton constantly chucking up something rotten….

  104. Adam says:

    Message received and understood.
Rico. 🙂 He is a bit of a dish isn’t he? What with his projected teeth and lovely little snout.

  105. rockyrocastle07 says:

Somehow Rico, I seem to have omitted you from the mail… Maybe next time eh?! Trust me… You’re better off not knowing!!

  106. allezkev says:

    Hiya Curry Clubbers… 🙂

Adam, do you reckon that we can get curried toad tomorrow?

Toad tikka just does it for me. 😉

  107. Adam says:

Lentils are a staple Rock. I eat them uncooked with baked blocks of salt. Very good for high blood pressure.

  108. rico says:

Rocky – you are now an official toad too!

Adam, my woofa is better looking, much much better looking.

Hi JM, Kos won’t leave us imho…..

  109. rockyrocastle07 says:

Looking forward to it Adam. Not sure what time I’ll get there but I’m hopping on the 15 from the Strand so should be about 1ish.

  110. Adam says:

I believe it Rico. Those lovely paws do it for me. 🙂 Much better looking for sure.
Rocky. Welcome to the Toad Club. See you on the riverbank.

  111. rockyrocastle07 says:

Good stuff. Then you can explain what the hell the toad club is!! I’m off now gang…. loads to get done before I go

    Catch you all tomorrow!

  112. rico says:

They are rather large aren’t they, they are right now, giving me a huge cuddle on the sofa 😉

    See you tomorrow Rocky 🙂

  113. allezkev says:

Hi Rico, bloody busy today, thankfully…

Adam, toad curry with lentils sounds divine mate…
Wonder if we can get soya toad? 😉

Rocky welcome to the Order of the Toad… 😀

  114. Scott from Oz says:

Well at least I played a small part in starting a great day of banter, even if, as Wath constantly reminds me, I was wrong 🙂
    Morning all.

  115. W.A.T.H says:

Evening/morning Scott… least you know your always wrong… one of these days you’ll be right mate and I will have to admit it as well 😉

    Have a good day.

  116. allezkev says:

Again, from a selfish prospective, I want to see Wigan beat Millwall, that way they’ll have a cup final on their minds prior to our EPL game against them…
A Wigan vs Chavs final would be the best thing for Arsenal’s quest to finish 3rd.
Hope that the Chavs progress in the UEFA Cup.
    More games for them, excellento!
    Spuds?
    A 2-2 draw. Extra-time. Lose on pens.
    Would be perfect…

  117. allezkev says:

    Morning Gooners

Yep Rico, it’s funny how things go around.
When Arsenal visited Carrow Road last Autumn, we were on a great run and Norwich were in turmoil.
Chris Hughton’s job was under pressure, and Norwich were relegation candidates.
Hughton came up with a strategedy to beat us and they duly won 1-0.
Maybe, with the situation so similar, Wenger can extract a bit of revenge?
    But Norwich won’t be easy…
