Arsenal offer rejected but a deal for Suarez is getting closer.

Morning all.

I wonder if Chelsea fans are excited about the reported imminent arrival of Gonzalez Higuain. A 31 year old striker on loan should see Morata move to Atletico Madrid. And there was me thinking it was only a skinflint club like Arsenal who dealt in loans. Seriously, if Higuain was heading to us on loan, what would you be thinking? Saying even?

We’re drawing closer to securing our own loan deal allegedly, with Barcelona for Denis Suarez. That loan will be made permanent once the summer arrives if it comes off. Sven Mislintat doesnt want him apparently but Raul Sanllehi does. One of the reasons cited for the anticipated departure of ‘diamond eyes.’

Edu was rumoured to be joining Arsenal in some capacity but reports from his home country suggest he’s turned us down. Whether or not the club turn to another ex Arsenal player remains to be seen but that’s the route they want to go if we’re to believe what’s making the back pages.

So who is Denis Suarez?

Denis Suárez was born in Salceda de Caselas (Pontevedra) on 6 January, 1994. A player who represented Spain at youth level, Denis decided to head for England to continue his development. At just 17 years old, he moved from Celta Vigo to Manchester City where he joined up with U19s and the U21s before eventually making his debut for the first team.

He clearly did well because in came Barcelona and off he went. After one season in their B Team, he moved again, this time to Sevilla on loan. Another season passed and another move came his way, this though was a permanent one to Villarreal. Barcelona had included a buy back clause in the deal which they took advantage of after just one season. An outstanding one by all accounts.

In 2016, Suarez was officially unveiled as a Barcelona first team player but having enjoyed plenty of playing time during his first two seasons as a senior player for the Catalonia club, he’s now a substitute at best which is possibly why he’s got itchy feet again. Rumour has it he wants to come to Arsenal and if true, maybe that’s because he knows Unai Emery well as the two worked together at Villarreal. Sevilla too I believe.

Here he is in action.

I know YouTube could make Yaya Sanogo look good but there must be a reason Barcelona signed him twice. Ah but there must be a reason they’re prepared to sell him I hear you say, but sometimes players just want to move clubs for whatever reason. For Suarez it could simply be for more playing time which I’m sure he’d get if he does sign for us. Raul Sanllehi must know him well, as does Unai Emery so there must be something they both like in the player.

There’s no guarantee he’d be a success, but there’s no guarantee he’d be a failure either and look on the bright side, if by chance he and the PL don’t get on, at least we’d be able to sell him….

Stay warm guys, winter is about to arrive with a bang!

    Morning Rico

If we needed a striker and we’d got Higuain in on loan then he’d be of good enough quality, but over a 6 month loan period he probably cost £10m-£15m. In the long term I’d rather that money was spent elsewhere.

I’ve never seen Suarez play. He could be the next Pires, he could also be the next Eddie McGoldrick.

Either way once we’ve played him for a few years he will have virtually no resale value.

Only time will tell if it is the right call?

Morning Rico and all. It’s getting harder to take anything other other than a pessimistic view of our club these days. The media know that bad Arsenal news is good news for them and that many of the online fan base eagerly eat of every drop of drivel they see. Craig Burley, who I thought was dead, is all over the place venting his fury at Arsenal’s board too. How low can we go? ☹️

    Morning all.
I’d take Suárez, even at £1 over the asking price because he’s worth it 🙂
In all seriousness, I would take him as he’s a good footballer and a good age.
Is he a world beater, no but then, he’s not costing us a fortune, even in the summer.

    Morning Gooners

Morning Rico, ah Higuain, that train left the station ages ago because Arsenal wouldn’t negotiate and had their heads turned by the agent of another Suarez.
I wouldn’t have him at the price you quote, we don’t need him anyway there’s other areas of the team in greater need…

  5. allezkev says:

Who, in their right mind would take any notice of Craig Burley?
How is this cartoon character suddenly a football expert?

I’ve seen his face and his monstrous dentures numerous times on You Tube but have never been tempted to click on his ugly mug to hear what shit he has to say.
It never fails to amaze me how so many no marks like Burley, with zero talent can have a well paid career on TV, I mean, Michael Owen for example?

    Morning all!
i’ve watched him played against Levante last week for the Spain cup. (1st leg) I don’t know if he plays today. (2th leg)
    Maybe or maybe not.
    Well, is more or less.

The focus now are in James Rodriguez….
A good player but very injury.

  7. Hobart says:

Rodriguez could be a world beater but again it’s £7-8million for half a season.

If we then wanted to buy him permanently they’re talking about £40m with £150k wages. Not sure that’s our market at the moment.

I’ve been listening to some podcasts this week and the football ramble has Tim Stillman from the AST. He was saying that this year Arsenal will post a £75m loss, which needs to be balanced before we can spend again.

Now we’ll be losing Ospina (£40k), Lichtsteiner (£35k), Cech (£100), Jenkinson (£45k), Elneny (£55k), Wellback (£70k), and Ramsey (£110) this summer. That reduces our wage bill by £23.7m a year, or 1.3 of an Ozil.

Now we get an extra £30m from Adidas. So that’ll help…

    Hi everyone,

Some good comments in there and yes, the winter gloom is here BUT, I’ve checked lots of videos on Suarez and he’s a goalscorer and a goal-maker. Lots of pace, good close ball skills and, unselfish in many situations. Yup, I could be wrong but to me he looks an exciting player and I’d rather have him than Higuain ‘cos he delivers in all sorts of areas – bundles of energy running at the opposition which few of our current players are able to do and then, plays a classy pass. He’s got my vote.

Mcneff is Irish the other 10 are all English and are from Hale End.
Its going to be hard but come on boys show them how good you are.

The mess that is occurring in the back rooms at Arsenal is reminiscent of earlier, much earlier time at our precious club.
A new manager, a new broom, a new manager frustrated by lack of funds and a faltering team. Has he the wit and wisdom to pull us out of the hole in which we seem to be sinking? We’ll see. However, the default position he seems to have adopted is, we need cash who is our most expensive asset that we can sensibly pass on? Ozil, of course. If you choose your best player who’s pulling a huge salary, a double whammy …..sell him, get him off the books and release the cash invested in him. Qed! The downside to this strategy is you don’t willingly lose your most valuable asset for a mess of pottage. Or at least, if you do, when everything goes tits up there is nobody else to blame but yourself. And look forward with being reunited with your P45.

A very similar scenario was played out when, way back, Billy Wright took the manager’s chair. He rid the club of it’s two best players, who can say why? George Eastham, a bit of a marmite player, a bit like Ozil really! They said of him he was at least two passes ahead of the rest of his teammates. Good old Billy obviously couldn’t understand his value, except in pound notes to ‘his’ team. Similarly, Joe Baker went. A 20 goal a season player. He had to go and he went! Were they adequately replaced not for several years and long after Wright was relieved of his position! He went too, he was arguably the worst manager ever employed by AFC, imo.

I think it far more likely to be ‘control freakitis’ than for good footballing reasons. Much as I feel Ozil is being treated now, with or without the agreement of the Board, and we all know what sort of decisions they make, don’t we? Mislintat? Who knows? Economics, duplication, fallen from grace, or just unnecessary? But I’ll wager he goes sooner rather than later. Perhaps he’s been defending Ozil’s role and purpose at the club.

In any event it would seem we are in a bit of a mess both on and off the field………it wouldn’t have happened in good king Arsene’s day, would it???

Dark here and my humour is not much better!😊

  15. Le Coq Monster says:

Glad someone at Arsenal was reading my comment about playing Amaechi and Saka, I`m not just a pretty face with rippling abs ! 😆

Rick, I think we should all supoport Hale End from now on ! …………………………………………..now I would have had good money on McGuiness being the Irish one ! 🙂

  16. Le Coq Monster says:

    COYRRG !

Suns just gone down here, but will rise again after the game …………………………. 🙂

  17. Rick says:

H/t still 2-1 not looking good spuds look in good form.
But we should have a pen and it should have been a red

  18. Hobart says:

Amy Lawrence of the Guardian has spilled the beans on Mislintat. Basically when Sven and Raúl were appointment by Gazidis we had Wenger at the club. Wenger was dead set against a director of football. However the general agreement was that when Wenger went the director of football role would be split between Raúl and Sven. Sven taking the technical side and Raúl everything else, with Gazidis being Chief exec.

However Ivan jumped ship Raúl got head of football, Vinai got chief exec and ….. the club back off from its original promise and started looking at others (including Edu) for the role. Sven sees this as a breaking of the original agreement and is rightly pissed. And as he can walk to any other club in football is sticking two fingers up at whoever is doing the appointing.

You can hear it in her own words on the Guardian podcast.

  19. Rick says:

    Finished 5-2 a really briliiant result .
This was the first defeat for the spuds this season and every one
was expecting them to follow Chelsea and do the double.
With both of them now out of the cup we are in a good position to go all the way
and go one better then last season

  20. Rick says:

VCC I would think they will get the highlights of the game on the
    player pretty fast .

When they do make certain you watch goal no 5 it really is just brilliant
