Arsenal offer Ox to Chelsea for Matic.

Morning All,

Where do the media get these stories from..?

Now I said the other day I’d make a sneaky bid for Matic I think he would do a good job for us but to offer Chelsea Ox in part exchange seems totally ridiculous and frankly idiotic..! Matic is 28 and although a good player who I reckon would give us a bit more steel in midfield why would we give them Ox..? I suppose we really don’t know if Ox is kicking and screaming that he is definitely not going to sign a new contract but surely there are better options that a swap with Chelsea for Matic?

We all know the papers are looking to stir the pot this time of the season but some of the stories knocking around truly are laughable. Then again are they..?

There is a reported offer from Sampdoria for Wilshere and they are willing to pay us a huge sum of nine million quid. The fact that Jack seems to be permanently injured and hardly set the world on fire whilst on loan and Bournemouth last year makes me think he is one who is surplus to requirements. I know from a sentimental point of view we all want and wanted Jack to be the real deal but in theory he has offered the team very little over the last 2/3 seasons apart from keeping the medical team busy. I’d take the money and run i think, throw in a buy back clause and a sell on clause in case he manages to stay fit and produce regularly great form but hand on heart i’d let him go.

Yesterday’s game in Sydney was a good watch and a good run out for the squad. I think it’s safe to sat a couple of youngsters got everyone’s attention and if they carry on with those kind of performances over the next 5/6 pre-season matches then Arsene has a few big decisions to make. Why do we continue to loan out players that seem to then go backwards? is it not better to keep them around the club and integrate them into the first team? It’s a problem that has been an issue for years without proper decent reserve team football that the step up from being on the cusp to actually playing first team football is huge.

We loan out players who don’t get picked don’t get the playing time needed and then we get them back a season later and they have not matured or improved as we had hoped, back to square one.

Looking at yesterdays game Nelson, Nketiah, Willock, Bielik and to a certain extent Bramall all showed huge promise and potential.

Bramall is still raw but is a bit of a rough diamond, does he take the place of someone like Gibbs as a squad player..?

I thought both Willock and Nelson looked very comfy on the ball, tenacious and hungry to do well. Bielik is still also a little raw but also in a back three when am sure he used to playing centre of a back four and or sitting as the defensive midfielder. He is a big lad and at 19 still learning the game. Nketiah came on and showed glimpses of his talent and although out of position you can see the boy knows where to be in the penalty box.

Another good run out on Saturday and another opportunity to shine and maybe by the time the Emirates cup comes around Arsene will have a clearer idea who he is looking to keep involved with the first team and who he thinks will benefit from being loaned out. My issue with that is when do we actually see the benefits of any players that have been loaned out, think we can count on one hand.

I won’t mention Lacazette scoring, ok well I just did, it’s great to get off to a scoring start, just hope he carries it on and maybe the best will be if he shows Theo how to score from ten yards out and do us all a favour.

Have a good day all.

Matic for Oxlade-Chamberlain sounds a complete fabrication to me.

How can Walker move to Man City for £50million and some idiot in a newspaper think that Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t worth a similar fee?

    It’s a story that doesn’t merit any examination tbh…

    Afternoon All
    Afternoon Wath

  2. Wath says:

Only difference in price though Kev would be Ox only has the one yr left on his contract…. he is granted younger than Walker though but it’s the “can’ leave for free next June scenario..! Why would we swap a player to make a rival possibly stronger.. makes no sense what so ever.

  3. frednerk says:

    Afternoon Wath and All

Purely guessing only seen on TV the player the dippers want
Naby Keita looks like the player we should be trying to signing next.

Matic or Fab for Ox ain’t as bad as people think.
Honestly have we got the best out of him?
His dad wants him out anyway.

Poor old jack..Could have been worldie.
We have to unload a few..We need change.

Good to see a few youngsters given a chance along side the
    A’s.
Cherry on the cake..Hackney Gazette scoring.

  4. Wath says:

    Hi Fred,

Agreed on Ox, he’s been average to say the least and injured and wants to be central etc etc… a player who seems to only want to play for himself, have we at least though found his position that best suits us..? wing back..? so do we try extend his contract..?

Not seen much of Keita at all so can’t comment.

  5. Lee says:

Keita looks the bollocks whenever I’ve seen him. No to Matic from me, him and Xhaka are both slow (Matic tackles better and reads the game well imho) a Kante like player is what we need. Ramsey could be that player but he is too ill disciplined…

    Lemar/ Mahrez Lacazette Sanchez
    Ozil
    Xhaka Keita

    That’s fucking impressive isn’t it???

  6. Meerkat says:

Poor ol’ wheelchair. It’s good, cheap business, to pay Roma £9 mill to take him off our hands;-))

Ox can go too, Matic would be far more consistent and reliable IMO. However, he wants to go to Manure to be with Napoleon again.

Ox only played ok the last few games to get away,
I don’t want to see Olivier go to the Hammers, besides he loves Arsenal, and the fans know it.

  7. frednerk says:

Ramsey is not a week in week out midfield player top level,
Arsene must have nightmares trying to justify a position for him
and most of the so called midfielders.
3 at the back.I suppose has given us a chanch, with some of these.

When you think back to Petit and Paddy..Sorry dreaming again.

  8. Le Coq Monster says:

    Evening all and thanks Wath.

Just had a look on Ornstein and nothing at all about Arsenal, so Wheelchair and Ox are still ours untill Ornstein says so !
    🙂

Lovely and hot today………………..and been to the most southern tip of this Island to deliver……………Lizard Point, so you`ve all been northern bastards today ! hahaha………………………………………………………unless you were there as well !

  9. allezkev says:

Thursday, August 31st, 11pm deadline, it’ll make a change leaving all the last minute dealing to others, we’ll maybe sell some players last minute.com, but when we get Lemar I reckon that that’ll be the big signings done…

  10. Obi says:

Players like Matic, Kante etc…. can’t play for Arsenal because their effectiveness is base on fouling, for Arsenal that would be 2 quick yellows before the half…..lol.

On talent alone I will never swap Ox for Matic…. last year is perhaps the only season where Ox was relatively healthy….lets give him a chance by playing him to his talents and abilities before writing him off….. AW hasn’t done that with him consistently. His versatility alone make him a keeper. But If he don’t want to sign sell him and use the money for a better player that is needed and fit the system, but not Matic.

  11. Wath says:

Obi, I think we can do way better than Matic 2b honest, the media story is pie in the sky I reckon but it does beg the question ‘if’ we let Ox go who would you like to swap him for..

  12. Lee says:

It’s crazy really when you think that Walcott, Welbeck and Wheelchair will be here next season…Ox I think will finally become a good player, if he stays injury free.

I’d really hate it if it were for another PL team!

Look at Perez, really seemed to have something about him but Wenger didn’t fancy him!!!!

Did Wenger buy him it makes you wonder!!

  13. Wath says:

Ain’t been a heart beat for nearly two seasons Lee, should of been replaced last June/July…!
Welbeck I like for the attitude and effort and he does contribute but Theo and wheelchair are just a joke and obviously Perez must of said something that Arsene didn’t take kindly 2…!

I have always said I don’t care what players we well or who wanna leave long as we replace with better than just wasn’t the case for way way to many years.

  14. Obi says:

Wath agree…. if I have to, I would swap Ox for Tom Davies or Sigurdsson.

Lee, Perez situation is inexplicably. I think to replace Santi we have to get one of these guys Hamsik, Bonaventure or Rakitic. Pjanic is more than capable too but supposedly he’s off to MU… I guess they realized that the 100m is suspect.

  15. frednerk says:

    Morning Wath and All

Not seen a lot of Joe W centre/mid wath
The brothers never played any grassroots stuff that I know of.
Seen Joe play left side coming inside which I liked,as for centre/mid
I always look for a nasty streak in the player, its a tough position.

  16. Wath says:

Totally spot on Fred, if you not got a bit of bite and that streak then you gonna get bullied in central midfield. I know it wasn’t physical on Thursday but he looked decent and didn’t shirk a tackle… need to see more..! The brothers for me always looked like they were show ponies and didn’t like the donkey work…! You obviously saw way more of them than me but when you saw a few others who put in a shift the never looked comfy with that side of the game.

Right here’s to another decent warm up match… my guess is Scott is proper off his tits already lol

  17. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Most entertaining practice match. The Arse could have scored a dozen goals in an open free flowing affair. Walcott couldn’t score in a brothel tho?

  18. gnarleygeorge9 says:

BTW 83,000+ 2nite @ Homebush. It actually felt like a football match as well.

    Over & out?

  19. Wath says:

GG, Walcott said he now old enough to pace himself in pre-season so maybe he’s building last on the shooting practice…………. ok ok I’ll get me coat..!

  20. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
There is absolutely no question who the most popular players were with Aussie fans-Ozil, Lacazette and Giroud.
What a tour and I’m glad it’s over-time to get some sleep 🙂

  21. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all.

Wenger has said Ox is 100% staying and he also said that he has not made any bid for Mbappe !…………………..it`s just a rumour from Wenger`s own mouth and has to be confirmed by Ornstein ! hahaha

Ornstein on BBC facebook live said that Arsenal are after Lemar, but it could all depend on the amount of players Monaco can let leave and of course the foreign players Arsenal need to shift as we have our quota currently !

  22. Wath says:

LC, i’d do exactly the same in the Europa…. we have so many good kids and players that get wasted out on loan when they can play europa and Carling cup and learn at Arsenal…! beats going on loan and sitting bench….!

We’ve seen glimpses of a few of the kids and talent isn’t an issue, combine them wit the seasoned pro’s and win win in my mind..!

  23. Le Coq Monster says:

Exactly Wath !…………………………also, there are 5 EPL teams in the CL, so this should be our best chance to win the league if Arsene plays it sensible !……………….and the big spenders Everton are in the EL and you know they will play a decent team to try and get in the CL through the back door as they wont win the league, so that`s 6 of our competitors with potentially fatigue sapping games that we shouldn`t have to worry about !
With (according to Wenger) Alexis, Ozil and Ox staying for at least the whole season and a couple more quality additions, we can take them by surprise ! …………………………….should be as fit as a fiddle every week and with our FA Cup not coming around `till January, it could work in our favour by using the kids like you say in League Cup and EL…………………………………..said it for years that a season out of CL would make us more competitive in the league, so come on Arsene dont make me look a bigger idiot than I already am !……………………hahaha
    🙂

  24. Le Coq Monster says:

Hi El Rico !………………………………had a good time ?…………..where you been ?…………………………..brought us back any prezzies ?…………………………………

    😀

  25. rico says:

Anyway, that was just a quick hello. Need to sleep now to get over my jet lag… ??

Catch up tomorrow guys…. I would say I’ve missed you all, however… 😉

  26. Wath says:

Sensible LC, makes sense to play the kids and give them experience with the older squad players…!

  27. ScottfromOz says:

    Aussie tour on, Rico disappears.
Has anyone seen Rico and Goonersaurus in the same room?
    Just asking 🙂
    Morning all.

  28. Le Coq Monster says:

    Morning all.

One thing proved yesterday……………………we are rubbish at parking the bus !………………………………all eleven Arsenal players on the goal line and they still score ! 🙂

  29. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Hope you had a great time.
Looks like Alexis is off then while spouting stuff about his CL ambitions blah, blah, blah.
Conveniently glossing over the fact that he was part of the team that blew out last season.

  30. rico says:

    Morning Lc, Adam and all..

Thanks Wath for keeping the place alive and kicking…

If Alexis goes, just hope we sting whoever buys him for as much as we possibly can..

  31. Le Coq Monster says:

Lord Wenger says Alexis is going nowhere…………………………… he wouldn`t lie to us would he ?

    😉

  32. ScottfromOz says:

And spend the proceeds wisely, Rico 🙂
    Morning all.
Tour done, and i can sleep again!
It’s been a hectic few days.

  33. ScottfromOz says:

Players “leaving for trophies” always fail to admit they were part of the failed squad, and rarely leave for less money-it’s a cop out, for mine.
Alexis failing to extend a contract again will be no surprise, though.
Either extend, or sell-in between won’t do us any good, imo.

  34. rico says:

    Croyde Lc.

    Indeed Scott.

I can’t see Stan Kroenke allowing the club to lose £50m + just by keeping Alexis for a season..

  35. Le Coq Monster says:

    Nice beach !

    http://www.holidaysincroyde.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/329-CROYDE-20-x-30-ring.jpg

If Alexis stays and we win the league then it will be worth losing the transfer fee !…………………………if we sell for £50M, who can we buy for that amount who is as good as Alexis ?…………………..Kyle Walker ?……………………………………………..keep him as it will be our best cahnce this season as I previously said……………….5 competitors in the CL !………………with new signings and maybe more, are we as strong as Chavs were last season who had a free run at the league ?………………………….he has to stay !

  36. ScottfromOz says:

LC, I can’t post pics here for some reason.
Never been able to but I’m not very techo savvy 🙂

  37. Adam says:

It would be foolish to keep hold of Alexis to try and prove a point I would say. It has nothing to do with proving a point and not being a selling club. That’s journalists bullshit. He’s never really bought into the whole Arsenal ‘thing’ from what I have seen. All that really matters is who arrives to replace him. He’ll be the same at his new club. He’s a restless spirit.

  38. rico says:

I hope you’re right Adam.. If he goes to City, he won’t get the kind of playing time he gets with us I’d have thought.

    Thanks Scott.

  39. Adam says:

I agree Rico. He already has a bit of previous with Pep I think. Everything should be focussed on Arsenal and the team. If the club play the ‘he’s staying’ game then he’ll be talking to other clubs in January and the headlines and focus will be all about his pre-contract agreement with whoever and his £20 million signing on fee and £400,000 a week. This will run ’til the end of next season. Arsenal need a really proper, intense season of team togetherness where every loss of a point hurts. What they don’t need is the Alexis sideshow as they are going to be in a worse position this time next year. If he really wants to go then that mandates a top player to replace him and the money they get for him will help achieve that.

  40. ScottfromOz says:

If he stays, but doesn’t extend, he will probably get his 400k, or thereabouts, due to no transfer fee.
    Is that his motivating factor?
Even if it’s not, and he really does want to win trophies-not sure what 2 FA cups are, if they aren’t trophies-then fine, but either way, is his heart going to be in his performances?
We know he won’t bludge on the pitch, but still, if he wants out, there’s no way he can be at his best.
It’s ridiculous we are even in this position, and even worse when you consider we have a few players at this same point.

  41. rico says:

Makes sense Adam. I still wish he’d just sign a new contract and help the team win the league. Good point made over the saga which would play out in the new year, and his team mates don’t need that.

Perhaps all the talk from AW about Mbappe staying at Monaco is a smoke screen and he could come in if Alexis really does want to leave. I think I’d be more than happy if that took place..

  42. rico says:

Dreadful management of contracts Scott, especially as the club announced we wouldn’t get into this situation again just a few years ago….

  43. Le Coq Monster says:

Both sides make good points on whether we make Alexis stay or sell him, but, do I look at it from a finacial point of view like Kroenke or an old fashioned fan who doesn`t care about the transfer fee ?………………………………..I`m a fan and dont care less about the fee as it wont be enough to bring in anyone better !……………….only a better player coming in will please me if Alexis goes !………………………..keep him, he is one of only a few players who will still play his heart out if he doesn`t get his move, as he loves football.

  44. ScottfromOz says:

LC, I get your point, but when he leaves on a free,
I can’t see the club trumping up 70/80 million to replace him.
That potentially leaves us very short next season.

  45. Le Coq Monster says:

It does, Scott, but we are all forgetting that Wenger says he will have to see out his contract, so I`m taking the mans word as I think he will remember what happened when we sold RVP in his last year to a rival…………..this cannot happen again as there will be up roar if he goes to Mansour City and wins the league !…………………………………..a compromise is to let him sign a pre-contract with Mansour City for next season and he stays and wins the league with us and we then break both his legs are last game with photos of act put in Arsenal Museum !…………sorted ! hahaha

  46. Le Coq Monster says:

Alternatively, we can do a leg transplant operation on him and give him Wilshere`s legs and City end up with a crock !

  47. Wath says:

Has anyone actually heard him say he wants to leave us or merely that he want’s champions league football..?

Anyone moaning about a player having ambitions to win things really seems to be missing the point, thought most on here come on and moan every time we lose and want us winning games and trophies so what’s the difference.

  48. ScottfromOz says:

    Hahaha LC, sounds a plan.
Wath, if a player takes a pay cut to win trophies, i take them seriously 🙂

  49. ScottfromOz says:

Wenger has backed himself into a corner by saying we won’t sell him.
It could come back to bite home but then as Wath says, has Alexis asctually said he wants out?
    Bloody transfer windows lol

  50. Le Coq Monster says:

This is true !……………………he may of said he wants to win CL, but in what year ? and with who ?…………all the current players want to win the CL and will have a chance hopefully after next season………………same applies to any clubs players, they all want to play and win CL………………….even those at Stoke ! hahaha

  51. ScottfromOz says:

LC, when Sean met and trained with players the other day, the TV show interviewed me.
They asked me the same question, amongst others, in 3 different ways, over a period of 2-3 minutes.
When the show aired, my “answer” made me look a tyrant of a “soccer dad”, who drives the boy every chance I get.
Of course, they only played half the answer I have on that occasion, and showed nothing else I said.
    I was dirty on them.
I’m a nobody, yet they’ll still play their game until they get what they want so I can only imagine how ruthless they are with footballers.

  52. Adam says:

They do Rico. They need him to say he wants to leave as it gives them a stick to beat Arsenal with. But, unless I am mistaken, this coming season feels different. Probably because of the Wenger situation. He needs to spend whatever it takes to give us the best chance of the PL title. The way he goes about that is up to him, but contracts work both ways and the closer they get to ending, the more power shifts toward the player, especially if he is of Sanchez’ quality.

  53. rico says:

We need him to say he wants to stay and extend his contract Adam.

I’d agree re the spending, but not just spending, he’s got to rotate better, select his team based on form and the opposition and not just select players because they cost £42 million… imo of course.

He certainly can’t treat people the way he did Lucas Perez last season.

  54. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, if you ever find out why Perez was treated that way, please let the world know lol
    Incredible!!!

  55. rico says:

🙂 But that ‘should’ be a walk in the park for a man with his experience, you know, the 20,00000 odd games he’s managed… lol

  56. ScottfromOz says:

If he stays, I dare say he will have been given a guarantee that this season will be different.

  57. Le Coq Monster says:

    Hahaha………Scott the Tyrant !

Amazing how people will ask the same question in different ways untill they eventually think they get the answer they want !………….not the answer the questionee is giving !…………………..I have the same problem…………I go through the whole explanation of kama sutra positions in trying to get my missus to have sex with me, yet she still asks for the headache pills ! hahaha

  58. Le Coq Monster says:

I wonder if it`s because I`m talking about it whilst in Tesco`s ?…………………………………….I`ll try LIDL`s instead ! ………………………the paracetamol is cheaper in there !

  59. Le Coq Monster says:

Is Rico going to use your photos for a post ?………………………..titled ………………..Arsenal in Arsetralia, no shit we`re big downunder !

    🙂

  60. ScottfromOz says:

    HUGE down under 🙂
Surprisingly received a lot more attention than anything previous club to visit, but as I touched on earlier, that could also be because the club were so accessible.

  61. Bondex says:

Hello everyone…..Until Alexis makes a live statement,i won’t give much regard to what the dogs in the media say…. They like to see us suffer.

  62. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Ha Ha LC, The Arse are huge in all Australia, including the surrounding islands. Its just that the maximum exposure was only in Sydney. Oh well, its The Clubs issue not mine 🙂

  63. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I just think The Arsenal could have gotten more ‘bang for their buck’ if they had played the 2nd game in another state.

  64. Meerkat says:

Late I know, but for what it’s worth I still think Sanchez should fck off if he doesn’t want to be at the club. His being there could cause tensions in the team, especially with those players who do love the club.
Let him see that the other man’ s grass ain’t always greener.

I know many have forgotten, or played it down at the time, as unimportant, but I haven’t got over seeing him laughing with Cech on the bench when we were getting stuffed. I think it was then that he decided he wanted away from Arsenal. He didn’t care about the team, it was obvious then, or he would have been encouraging them, not sniggering.
And Cech for that matter. He should be replaced.
£80 million from Citeh would do us.

  65. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Remember Meerkat, every footballer these days has a blood sucking parasite attached to them, of the Agent species. Also, who knows Alexis may have already signed/agreed to stay on. Its just that Newsnow species of parasite tends to cause hallucinations during the warmer European months, i.e create desperate ‘fake news’!

Now that Arsene has to be more cordial with the fans, he may now focus all his French arrogance towards the media/pseudo media, i.e just tell them spin coz he can 🙂

  66. gnarleygeorge9 says:

…..and besides, with Maureen voyeuring every action Arsene does now, Arsene has a chance to take the piss @ Maureen’s expense by drip feeding the media/pseudo media with crap 🙂

I guess we will be able to find out the truth about pre-season by the number of PL points an Arsene managed team has accumulated after Round 38.

  67. Le Coq Monster says:

    Morning all.

Hi Gnarley……………………….are we huge in Tasmania though ?………………..especially Launceston !………………….surprising how many Gooners are in my Launceston, judging by the amount who turn up for footy on Thursday nights, half are Gooners, a few Bindippers and of course no Spuds !.
Kids playing for the local teams, mixture of Arsenal, Manshafter and Chavs……………………now before Chavs were formed in 2004, you wouldn`t have found any !…………………………..just shows what a rich owner who spends money will do for a club……….winning trophies wins new support !

  68. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Indeed Le Cornwall, The Arse is massive in Launceston 🙂 And in Summer they become slow cooked beef cheeks 🙂

  69. Le Coq Monster says:

We aint getting Mbappe………………… and Lemar hangs on to who else leaves Monaco…………..so who the fcuk will Wenger buy ?………………………….starting to look like a possibility of no one else if he sticks to his guns of only buying quality !

  70. Le Coq Monster says:

Shit !…………………………….am I falling into the trap of becoming a bullshit journalist ?
    😆
