Morning All,
The Sunday papers and gossip columns are in overdrive yet again and to be honest I can’t be bothered to list the players we’re being linked with, I am sure your all capable of checking through the so called exclusives and scoops……
Well here we are on a pretty grubby Sunday morning with a week of June left and so far we’ve signed no one….! (I’m not counting the few youngsters)
Is anyone really surprised by this? Why are so many people already almost hysterical due to the fact we have not bought anyone..? Players have been involved in international tournaments some still are, managers have been sacked, retired and walked away from Clubs and replacements are being found, the rest of the players are off gallivanting around the world sunning themselves in tropical locations making the most of their time off.
What fans seem to ignore or forget is that there are many things going on behind the scenes as deals are discussed, clubs are contacted as to the availability of their players and so on. This does not mean Arsenal are sitting around waiting for the Chavs & Citeh to buy everyone first it merely means it’s still early days. The landscape has change with the new transfer window, things do happen later and lets have a sensible look at who is really buying loads of players already?.
We as a club will have decided who we want (hopefully) the wheels are in motion, clubs will be deciding fee’s deciding if to accept offers and maybe players have been told they’ll be sold and now even agents are discussing wages and contracts BUT lets be sensible here and lets get real it’s all cloak and dagger and clubs want to keep things as quiet as possible until deals are actually done. We also know certain players are actually released off of Clubs books on July 1st this means they receiving a salary until then so deals should start to happen around then when even more wages are freed up and when we then look at paying players that will actually start “work” in a few days when they report for pre-season training.
Reports of players agreeing to or declining wage offers is just ridiculous………… A fee has to be agreed with the selling club first and that’s IF the selling club agrees to sell so lets get some perspective on this for now, lets be patient and lets see over the next few weeks who we bring into the club. Lets also realise we may be trying to bring in players that for what ever reason do not want to join us? maybe they greedy and want more wages maybe the Mrs prefers a sunnier climate but it’s also not always the fact the club has failed to sign player “X” “Y” or “Z” many things can dictate who we manage to buy.
The other story that’s in the news is that Tony Adams wants to be Chairman of the club………… Now I love TA I really do and for everything that he gave and did for the club he is a true Arsenal legend but is he Chairman material..? Does he also have the business acumen..? He is a passionate Arsenal man I agree but think we need a little more than that at boardroom level…! I like the Munich model of ex players running the Club and I think we should also tap into that idea and incorporate players who have Arsenal in their blood like we do but should they also not be successful businessmen as well..? I think there is lots more to being Chairman of The Arsenal than just being a great ex Arsenal player and having a passion for the club…! No disrespect to Tony, i think he should be involved at the Club on some level but not Chairman not for me.
Enjoy your Sunday and lets see what the week brings on the transfer front….. Rooney, Higuain and Fellaini, Yes Please Arsene..!
Morning All….
Scott, have you numbered those Beer labels..?
The gossip columns and blogs are summed up for me with the “we gonna offer 20mil for Rooney”…? What planet are these people on? we sold Rvp for 24mil with a yr left on his contract who was 29, Rooney has 2 yrs left on his contract and is 28..? go do the maths..! some people in cuckoo land..!
You don’t need a business acumen for the chairman position. We have a owner that is a business man and we employ people to take care of day to day running of the club. Its a figure head we need and TA is as good as any IMHO.
Not if we run with the Munich model TT, the Chairman still needs to have some sort of business acumen surely…? Figurehead one thing but they don’t need to be a laughing stock either and for many over the last decade PHW was exactly that…!
Good Morning Gentleman and Gentlemen.
Good realistic post WATH.
Chairman???? You may be surprised but I would plump for someone who was revered at the club and at the same time is an astute mind. ROBERT PIRES. I feel that such a man would lead us in a well honourable manner and at the same time would not commit PHW style gaffes.
I would also like to see somoene like Lyungberg who is already instilled as an ambassador for the club as one of the directors. And both Dein and Usmanov allowed in.
My feelings entirely. We just have to wait and see what or who enters the marble hall! Hopefully we will be surprised and gratified. I think we will buy wisely, shrewdly and youthfully!
Until July1st Ishall take little or no interest in other folks’ speculative comments, or players that are being carried by black cab to the ground or London Colney etc.etc.
As for Tony Adams, marvellous captain, almost as good as Frank McLintock, a club legend no question of a doubt. However, he is not really cerible, is he. Chairman of the Board, I don’t think so, not the sort of human to pour oil on troubled waters, not very dlplomatic. After match entertaining, mmm? Much though I loved the man as a player, off the field I don’t think he cuts the mustard, (whatever that means). Sorry Tony, thanks for your c.v. Thanks for your contribution but I’m afraid there are no vacancies at present in the Arsenal plc. Bar one as statue polisher!
Morning Dev, here’s one for you….. DB10 for Chairman..! Give it ten years and thats the kind of man who should and could be at the helm…! Agree on Bobby as well, another player with class and charisma who seems to carry himself well.
We need someone who has actually kicked football not some bankers, cardinals, traders, senators
its more political than passion.
DB10 would be DOF WATH.
No reason why you can’t mix the both Lenz…? Many players are to thick to run a club so you need a sensible mix of passion for the club and business acumen..!
DB10 could be someone who oversees all aspects of training from the seniors till grassroots level, identifies all key areas that are needed to be strengthened and communicates with the manager/coach and scouts which players need to be bought. And he would not have the need to travel.
Oyyyy WATH.
You can write quite good modern English for a centenarian. 😆
I could see DB10 being a conduit between coaches and execs Dev, then to move up to the Boardroom level as he brings in someone below him to carry on the communication levels of as you say the training and the coaches. He knows the club and lets be honest the man has had the right background and schooling at Ajax.
Watch out Dev you could end up “sliding off” into the dustbin…! 😛
Don’t forget Grandad Kev used to read to me and teach me the odd thing when I was a nipper..!
We need new players, chairman,we believe this time things we be good this season.
Wavy, not exactly the right way about trying to get yourself onto the board or a job with the club at the exec level when you go running off to the papers when you don’t get what you want or don’t agree with what they have done.
As you say surely a little diplomacy behind the scenes from TA would of earned him brownie points for the future not ranting off to the papers..?
I do find it strange that TA says we’re miles away from the title… I’d say we’re 3 top signings away from the title… Is that miles…? I’m starting to get the feeling that he is getting rather bitter and twisted that the club don’t fall over backwards to listen to him…. Great players don’t make great coaches or managers as we’ve so far seen with him so why the animosity in his comments..? Is he having a dig at anyone in particular..?
Good morning guys.
Wath, send me an email and i will send you a pic of the label…
On transfers….well, me thinks sometimes the agent puts he cart before the horse and sorts the personal stiff out before the club even knows the player wants out 🙂
Adams for Chairman…not for me.
Scott, agents been doing deals like that for years and years mate they then tell the player “X” has offered 20% extra per week if you sign for them which then rocks the boat with the players and they then become unsettled etc etc, agents are scum mate and they are for me probably the biggest single reason players are so greedy and mercenary.
Will drop you a line now mate.
I agree totally.
Agents have ruined football.
Ok, they have not ruined it, but have certainly tarnished it.
You know, I think he believes he should be the next manager of Arsenal, I think he thought he should have been made 1st team coach years ago! Wenger, who is a cerebral man didn’t agree. He knows what TA is and what he would bring to the club, sadly AW doesn’t think that the contribution the ex capt could or would offer was sufficient to improve the club! So no employment for TA, and guess what he’s grumpy about it! He, like one or two others is very keen to criticise the present management at any opportunity. Sadly it’s all negative! Not what is required at all.
I rather think that TA is one slate short of a roof! He’s as mad as a badge! Not really quite made of the right stuff! Welcome to spectate any time, but his contribution, these days is no longer required.
Sorry but there it is.
Ex players who might be suitable; TH14, DB10, FL7, and Gus Caesar!!! Bless him!
Just sent the label pic Wath.
It is unfortunate we can’t get some brews over.
In the good old days players had the integrity to ask for a transfer which mean’t you didn’t get 10% off the transfer fee, now the agents agitates for a move, papers get involved players become unsettled and the Clubs are forced to sell players that don’t want to be there, vicious circle really but it’s hardly going to stop or go away it’s now how the football world operates and I agree with you, it’s tarnished the game but then again there are many things that have also done that.
We are looking at doing a different brew each month….each with its own label.
Morning all, Nice one Wath,
Wavey, Must admit i agree with your 11. 13 Mr Adams has stated that working with Wenger is hard work, and i feel there would be a clash. I feel that a chairman should come up from the ranks but the ranks of the office not ex players. Hillwoods got the position because they invested their money and had an interest in Arsenal ex players only ever got paid and i don’t think many put money back in. Every body seems transfixed with ex players Adams Bergkamp Pires Henry, I have no issues with these guys coming back to work with the players but as a figurehead i feel it should be a person that has chairman qualities maybe someone that can make a statement where he doesn’t put his foot in his mouth.
Its always like that WATH. Stewart Gobson and Tony Badass seem to suffer a lot from sour grapes.
I’m with you Wavy, seems to be a bit of an agenda with TA, is he jealous of Bouldy..? does he think it was his right to be coach..?
Lee Dixon has a string of successful restaurants Wavy, he’d be a good board member, ex-players like that who have a bit of savvy and also have the personality to handle such positions..!
Not all about what they did on the pitch unfortunately.
SP, agreed mate, the clamour over ex-players is way over the top BUT i do think there are a few that would fit the bill…!
Higuain is a done deal I got on at 3/1 he’s now 4/9 if you don’t believe me than believe the bookies….I was told by a remarkable source that I met by chance….

Very good post.Is it not funny how grown men fall over themselves like toddlers hearing father Christmas’s name.lol
TA for chairman?I thought April fool day had passed….
DB10 or bobby for chairman…bloody good idea.
Afternoon all btw
If you lot click on that link i’ve just put up you should be able to check out Scott’s Arsenal Ale label… Quality…!
Micky Gooner, why would anyone ever believe a bookie they all lie hence they rich and we not lol
I think Higuain will happen to be honest but just makes me laugh all the wages comments and articles when no one has actually agreed it 100% at Madrid yet so it’s all guesswork as we do know they have spoken and there has been contact.
ArsenalDK, how you mate, a tribal footie scoop… nearly as reliable as Adams mates at Bleecher report lol
,Afternoon Wath, Adams as a pundit, Makes me cringe, i don’t think he has ever said anything positive about the Arsenal since he left. When he was shagging Caprice he caught my attention but when he gave her the elbow he turned sour. Players walked away with their futures to look after not many looked back and spoke to much about us Henry came back to help when we were in the shit, although passed it, he did score us a couple of goals and i felt it meant as much to him as it did us.
TA is not in the same league as M.Sammer or the Kaizer to think he deserves to be a club chairman.
WAvy makes a splendid point about TA’s jealousy…without being disrespectful to TA he sounds depressed and makes me wonder if he is back on the source again.watching him on tv says it all…he is hardly invited on any expert panel is he…
If there is one thing I cannot stand its someone bad mouthing the club when they have left. Under whatever any circumstance. If the present management does not think TA is not good enough for the club in the present circumstances than he should simply shut up and keep quiet.
Wath, the link asks me for a Yahoo id.
No probs for me….i have seen it 🙂
Anyone else having that issue?
The bookies get rich by tapping in to crucial info…they don’t go 3/1 to 4/9 unless they know…and I went to see Al Di Meola (great gutar player) at Ronnie Scott’s about 10 days ago….by chance got chatting to a guy, he had no idea I was a Gooner however he explained that he worked for a company that did electronic fitness monitoring for sport, clients apart from us included Barca and other big names. Told him then that I was a Gooner and he said I should be pleased as GH was definitely coming and he had been at London Coney sharing his stats with AW….will soon find out if I;m a puppy…I don’t think so….woof woof
Yep me Scott, Sounds like a good beer you have there Scott. 🙂
I just sent Wath a different pic…hopefully it works better.
I click on it Scott and it gives me the label pic 😀
SP, spot on mate, TH came back and done his bit loves the club and won’t have a bad word said, TA earns a living on the TV and in the media and they love the controversial comments which in my book make him look a bit of a plum. Many stick up for him cos he was a great Captain and great player for us but in that case keep your mouth shut..!
Plenty other great Arsenal players who would be better off back at the club than him and far to much sentiment shown to him which others don’t get..!
Sounds like good genuine info Micky, hope you got his number to find out when Rooney due at Colney…. 😉
Good one, WATH. This is going to be a loooooong summer. Hopefully, not one of inactivity. 😉
Hiya, Dev. SSP, howdy? Been a while. Scott, I cannot see the label. It’s some “restricted” thing. 🙁
As for Adams, he says so little that is positive about our club, how can the Board want him?
Hi Agag, we are trying to get another pic up.
It saves to my laptop Scott but not as a jpeg so can’t copy n paste..! Let me try another way….! bloody stupid computers…!
Put it up on Flickr, Scott. 🙂
http://bf1-attach.ymail.com/us.f1428.mail.yahoo.com/ya/securedownload?mid=2%5f0%5f0%5f1%5f11664091%5fAOD1i2IAAAfHUcbUZQAAAHsnT0Y&pid=2.2&fid=Inbox&inline=1&cred=TPgsIwQDV6erg5YqJYpYvli4lfMo7ip5SLL40pzSClcfi2w-&ts=1371988021&partner=ymail&sig=Ve2fIcRS54cFORodMpiNYQ–
Agag, i do not have a clue what that means lol.
Hiya shoe girl, Hope your well and still spending. 🙂
I’m of the opinion that jobs such as Chairman of a club comes about by a lifetime of doing good for your company recognition you may say. I like to think that the right person for this job is someone that can speak freely and is not an arse licker. I like to think that he is in control and could come between two board members should they get out of hand. a person who is respected and can show respect, or have i got it all wrong.
That worked Wath…..well done mate!!
I think that’s gone to the same secure thingy again….! lol…!
Steve, that IS the type of person required.
Does it work…??????????
I have NO idea how !! I amaze myself sometimes…! Must be the GG…! redbull gives you with Grey Goose gives you brain cells…!
Then kills them a few hours later..!
Having heard his live interview where he was talking about today’s charity match which he is playing in, I would say quite a bit of deliberate misinterpretation has gone into the reporting of this subject. He said that Chips was the best suited person with club experience to balance the rift and mediate between Kroenke and Usmanov , but all he offered was to help the club any way he could.
Blinding Lable, that would make me buy a pint no doubt about that good Aussie bear that.
Agredd SP, The Chairman must have respect of ALL within the club and from a great many outside of the club as well. Anyone can be a figurehead it’s far more involved than that.
SSP, no not spending. ?: Nothing to spend. 😀
That one worked. Niiiiice one , Scott. Is it like a plasticated surface? WATH, you gone all techie now. 🙂
Potter……….TA should sue the journalist who has twisted his story then. If he does not do so then he may have said these things himself.
Steve, glad you liked it.
I wanted it to look old school…plain and simple.
I reckon the designer nailed it.
On the bottle and with a red cap, it looks awesome.
Potter, sensible as usual mate, there is also a line which the media will jump on with TA and make out he’s said this or that to upset the natives and the club but I think most of what we saying is that he isn’t someone you’d want as Chairman and he has come out with some very silly comments previously. I have also heard him saying he’d love to help the club out in anyway possible but do they actually think he is in someway a risk with certain ideas or perceptions of what goes on..? he’s been around long enough for all those concerned to know if they think he would benefit the club having him involved or as I said earlier is there an issue with anyone in particular..?
Even Beer
Agag, they are a shiny surface..not plastic or laminated, but great quality.
The bloody bottles and labels cost as much as the batch of beer lol.
Still, worth every cent.
Have a great day, everyone.
Early start tomorrow……
Night all.
There lies the problem Scott, every time you change the label it’s extra artwork and set up costs, once you have 3/4 labels you can then rerun every time you want a batch and the costs will be much less. Looks proper and the best part is the Cannon faces the right way…!
Cheers Scott, night mate..! Don’t drink em all in one go………..
SP, you may see a few bears after a few bottles of that stuff…!
Looking in as an outsider, i see Arsenal as a very well run club. It has an owner who says very little and a part owner who wants to say a lot. I see a chief executive who has a very slippery tongue. he knows when to talk and when to keep mum. (Season ticket time.) i see a Manager who reminds me of Scrooge, who looks for value for money, a man that has been restricted but also a man who looks to achieve the most he can from what he has to work with. I see a team lacking certain players, and i see their supporters as frustrated people that have been waiting far to long for their visions to come true. I see a money making organisation that has money flooding in by the bucket load but i also feel that the business is ailing through lack of acheivment on the field of play. A club that is coming out of a slump and board members realising that success on the field will only bring more success and lots more money. I see a club that now has to speculate to acumulate and i see a very bright future for Arsenal football club.
Wow, maybe HH can set up a beer liquor and spirits shop. So many experts in here. 😀
SSP, I am optimistic about this transfer window, too. Much more than I was in the past years. We should not have had to labor to secure fourth place if the club had invested when it ought to have. I hope that was a wake-up call. I still don’t trust Kroenke though.
It was terribly stupid to have sold V Pursie, Cesc, Nasri, to a lesser extent. Our club was the worse for it.
I can only assume that Wenger and rednose had some sort of deal worked out Agag. Maybe Rednose confided in Wenger about his retirement and manager to manager agreement for Rednose to go out with a winning team. Managers have many battles over the years and respect comes into play at times. Van Persie was coming to the time where he would only be offered a one year contract so would have left on a free, this way the two managers had the best of both worlds Wenger got 20 odd million plus any after sales deals in place while Rednose got recognition and went out on a high. Persie got a longer contract and more money all parties happy. I ask myself the question would we have won the league if he had stayed, and i have to answer no. it hurt that he went but the outcome was best for all parties.
Imo even if Van Pursie stayed we would have laboured to get to 4th.
Yes we sold RVP. But guess what????
With his money we bought Giroud and Podolski.
With Song’s money we bought Cazorla and had some loose change.
And guess what again??? We conceded less than the season before.
We had more clean sheets.
We had 4 players in double figures. The season before only RVP was into double figures.
We scored only 2 less goals than last season.
And overall points we finished better.
So as Sir SP said….it hurt that he went but the outcome was best for all parties.
Devil :- People rarely sue journalists because of the future repercussions. Just look at the way The Mirror went for Kinnear’s throat this week , it was 2 years ago he swore at their reporter but as soon as he was back in they were on his case. Admittedly he possibly deserved it but the invective was overboard in my opinion.
Were on the same page Devil, I feel that the sales of said players may have hurt us at the time and fore mere supporters like ourselves painful. But having said that i feel that what we earn’t through the negotiations will only help us in the coming seasons. I feel we have turned the corner, i like to think that Wenger with his forward thinking is getting the building blocks in place. The talk i am hearing coming out the marble halls sounds encouraging and i expect some good players landing at our door. After that its up to the players. I have a good feeling, not often i get that so i’m optimistic. 🙂
I like both Giroud 😳 and Podolski, but neither are RvP, who, while beneath contempt, is also the best striker in the league. Imagine how well he would have linked up with Cazorla. With him, we would have had five players in double figures. 😉
And it was demoralizing for everyone that the team captain left two years running. I honestly think we screwed Barcelona over the Song transfer. Great bit of business, that.
It seems to me that the most influential and significant person at the club is Wenger and this has been the case for the last 15 years, at least. Whether the club do or don’t have the financial clout to compete, it will be Wenger who buys the players and sends them out to compete. The only thing that has changed over the last few years is that now, we are told, there is serious money to spend.
Wenger has both under and over achieved almost simultaneously for years now. Qualifying for the CL has been good but, in big matches, we have bottled it, time after time. Can he change this mentality by buying better players? We all want to believe but experience is a hard task-master for some.
Hmmm nail on the head there Adam, time for change we all know the money is there but will we finally do the necessary and bring in the required quality players to make us competitive again..?
Hi Wath. And is Wenger the man to spend that money?
It seems that most believe so, based on the last 10 games of last season.
Leopards and spots?
I take the last ten games with a pinch of salt mate, they did fight and pull together though, we did look like a unit and he did drop players when needed, Is he the one to spend well we are about to find out mate…!
We are caught in a spiral of yes and no re Arsene. He is a safe pair of hands for sure and has a dignity that is increasingly rare, especially when compared to an insidious, spiteful creep like Mourinho. Scraping 4th seems to have bought AW support. With a couple of points less, Spurs in the CL and us in the Europa, would general perceptions be different?
It’s certainly moot as we are where we are. You are right though as we have to wait and see what happens. This is a place we have been many times.
Afternoon Adam, Good points there. Is he the man, I feel that if he spends 70 mill he is the man, but should we end up with a couple of kids and a couple of no hopers then that would show to me that he is off when his contract ends. I feel that this window will tell us miles more than previous windows in as much as is he here for the long term. Wenger has not been used to spending big so i wouldn’t expect him to push the boat out to extremes but if he goes and buys two top players that would give me the nod that he intends to stay.
I still wonder if AW feels like he being bullied into spending that everyone now knows 100% that we got tons of money…? Can he realistically come out with the tried n tested “we tried very hard but there were not the quality players available that we wanted” ?
There is the quality out there and after all these years of skimping if we need to pay over the odds a little to get whats needed then we’ll really have to bite the bullet and do it..!
Good read.for me Adams is a no to be board chairman.
SSN reckon we have a delegation in spain to tie up higuain deal and that we are quietly confident to tie up the fellaini deal.
Boo, Adam! Howdy? I agree, there are so few managers that one can reasonably associate with the word “dignity”. AW is one of them. Mourinho certainly is NOT. AW needs to gamble on a few big name signings. The club has announced that the money is there; now he must spend. He truly is on a hiding to nothing.
I would feel more confident if we hadn’t been subjected to so much bullshit and misinformation in the past. “Super quality players” and all that crap.
Hi, KT! 🙂 I like your news. 😉
hi agag.we just have to wait and see how this pans out.
Hi KT hope your good fella, good to see you back, Proplem with SSN is they spout as much reliable gossip as Adams fav the bleecher report…! Am surprised SSN hasn’t run with the Fellaini tells blonde on twitter he wants to sign for Arsenal..!
am good wath.lets just wait and see then…
If I am honest and this will sound daft, Fellaini would have me more excited than Rooney or Higuain….! I think he is exactly what we crying out for….!
We probably do need a 6foot plus hairy thug with handy elbows!
He’ll do for me.
Higuain will do, as well. A man who scores every 1&1/2 games would be most satisfactory?
Go for it AW (aka the Miser of Alsace) shake the dust of the shekels and get them spent!
I am wondering the kind of damage that we will see when AW requests SK to “open the safe” Stanley and lets pay with those bundles of cash…!
To be honest wath am not excited about fellaini.
KT, go stand in the corner and wash your mouth out………… lol talk about crush my enthusiasm…!
i have my reservations wath.
higuain on the other hand could easily end up seriously challenging for the golden boot.
Good night, guys!! Back to work tomorrow. Yuuuucccckkk. 😉
Night AGAG have a good week, no online shopping thats NOT work 😉
What reservations you have about him KT..?
At everton Moyes played him as an AM.for them he dominated games playing there.at Arsenal there is no chance he’ll play there because we are not everton.this leaves us with CM/DM.
I don’t think he is suited to arteta’s role since he isn’t that good a passer of the ball which is paramount for a player to fill in that role.AW likes fluidity and i don’t think he’ll provide it.
Theoretically he seems more of box to box role where we play rambo/diaby.he was 4th in the league in terms of distance covered per game last season.he is very good at pressing opponents.he sounds ideal for that role.my reservations is that i’ve not seen enough of him in that role to know how he’ll adapt to our system.
It may turn out to be an inspired buy like martinez for Bayern or another square peg in a round hole in our system of play.if he comes and adjusts well he’ll be a monster for us no doubt since he can be unstoppable at times…
I think they played him in various roles at Everton KT but look at how they played him against us at the Grove towards the end of the season, they played him defensive midfield and he run the game. I think he has the intelligence to play in various roles but i think he is more than capable of being the defensive mid and also give us much more power from corners and set pieces and again from a defensive perspective there as well. He’s well accustomed to the league he knows whats needed and for me is a top top player. We’ll only know if we end up buying him I suppose..!
im not disputing that.however we play quite different to everton.we dominate possession in most games and how he fits in is my reservation.also how well would he play in the cl for example?…in the league i have no doubts about him.guess we’ll have to wait and see then…
some radio in spain is saying higuain is due a medical tomorrow…
We play a different game KT but a good defensive midfielder is just that in any side, i have watched him and like the way that he plays with the ball on the ground he likes 1-2’s he has a footballing brain I think he’d be great for us hence it’s why buying him excites me.
Higuain also top class player only thing is we all know is it’ll take him til Xmas to settle so least hopefully Giroud/Pod and Theo will carry him until then, It’s the one reason I’d not be unhappy with Benteke..!
recent buys from la liga especially attackers have instantly adapted since the PL has even more space and that makes me think pipita may not need that long to adjust.
Excuse me mates. But the only player who will fit in our midfield like a hand in a glove and give us a notch or two forwards is the one and only Asier Illaramendi. Tough, good passer, breaks up play and has a footballing brain. Yes we might need Fellaini but only as box to box midfielder…..in which case we have Aaron to do that job.
According to Radio Cadena YSKL (from El Salvador, Central America) Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Gonzalo Higuain with the fee being reported as €30m with a medical scheduled for tomorrow.
Earlier today Sky Sports were reporting quite heavily that Arsenal were in Spain in order to finalise the deal [see video below].
I can’t say how reliable this radio station is, simply reporting to you what is out there.
Isn’t this Illaramendi another short arse though Dev…? I’ll take Fellaini ta….!
A few places reporting the Hig deal looks like being done but as we all know until AFC or RM say the deal agreed then it’s still all just gossip
I like the look of illaramendi devil but i think we need more presence in there.if fellaini is the guy i don’t know but if i had to choose a player id pick lars bender.
Lars Bender is another good one. Fellaini is a great player, but I doubt he would be disciplined enough to stay and hold his place.
Both Illaramendi and Bender are quality and disciplined.
Then again if AW is going to change his formation to 4-4-2 with Rooney and Higuain up front or Giroud and Theo then he may use Fellaini and Aaron together in CM as box to box with Aaron slightly defensive. Cazorla on the right of midfield and Podolski on the left.
But I doubt that formation
Paulinho to totts.
devil i doubt we’ll go back to 4-4-2 as our default formation.i think 4-2-3-1 will be our default and the former a plan b.
I also have my reservations about fellaini.i think bender would be more suited to our system.on the topic of forwards i think if we are going after anyone other in addition to higuain i think it would be el shaarawy for that left spot and return santi in the middle.
However i think wenger would like a more direct AM in there similar to rosicky leaving santi wide.I believe if Gotze had been available wenger would’ve gone all out to get him.Ornstein said we are after one but i have no idea who it may be.thoughts?…
Dev, when we play the toffees Fellaini is more than disciplined against us…!?!?
KT, don’t you think we knew what Gotze’s release clause was…? I think we clearly decided against a move for him or more likely he didn’t want to come to us as soon as Munich went sniffing…!
Who was that young 19 yr old midfielder we were linked with the other week, defensive mid, looks very tasty…!
WATH….check your inbox if you can mate.
Yes he was disciplined. But one thing I am afraid of is that Fellaini has more energy than Arteta and will revert box to box. Arteta is a tad slow so he stays his position. With Arteta we are more disciplined than we were with Song.
I hope Fellaini remains displined.
you may be right wath but i think its more of a case of Gotze not wanting to leave Germany.also klopp said Guardiola was a major factor.either way i think we wanted him since he would’ve been ideal as our no.10.we are still in the market for one but i have no idea who it will he.Rooney rumours show we are after one and he may be a smokescreen for someone else
and i wouldn’t be surprised if it was a relatively unknown player.
Dev, He has more energy sure but also depends on the players around him, at Everton he is seen as the main man, with us he has more technical players to do the flair stuff, do your job lay the ball off job done…! Anyway all hypothetical until we at least buy him.
Seen inbox mate, Mad…!
Come on you 2… who was that young german fella we were linked with the other week his name totally escapes me…!
In all honesty KT why would he want to leave Germany when Munich want him, Gotze is sorted for life no need to think of anywhere else..!
Matthias Ginter… that was the one………… KT you seen much of him..?
i’ve not seen much of him to make a judgement call but i’ve heard good things of him.
Illaramendi on the other hand was a stand out performer in la liga and he is without a doubt going places.
As i said to Dev earlier KT is Illaramendi not to small though…? isn’t he only 5’9…? I just think we need someone centrally who is 6ft + to give us that physical presence…!
I agree with you wath and thats why i prefer bender personally.guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Even Italian and some Spanish sites are saying that the medical for Higuain is scheduled for tomorrow.
36 minutes gone and England under 20 are drawing 0-0 with the super power in world football……otherwise known as Iraq under 20.
Iraq deserve the result up till now. They are playing with discipline and are refusing to roll over.
England go 1-0 up from a corner
Morning all.
Wath, on the labels…….you are right.
We will get a few basic designs and then change colour or make subtle variations.
Any signings yet 🙂
Dev has signed a cheque tonight does that count Scott…?
So is 2moro the start of The Arsenal rebirth as a footballing superpower..?
Hey all,
I sure hope so wath. Watching Torres, he seems to have found his striker instinct and form. Amazing bargain if Maurinho wants so little for him.
Who has he bought, Wath 🙂
An Aussie 16 y.o. Named Daniel De Silva…….watch out for this kid.
Absolute star in the making.
I heard Dev bought a mars bar Scott but not sure where he gonna play…
Agreed Brad, Torres always been quality in my book and AGAG will agree but can’t see Moreenyo selling us anything but the shit off his shoes…! he hates us..!
Am off have a good evening all and a good day Scott…! Til 2moro..!
Later Wath.
Nice one Wath
Morning all,
Totally agree WATH regarding Maurinho. He was already sticking his jibes at Arsenal before he even returned to England.
Regarding Fellani, if we’re going to use him as a DM, surely he’s rather expensive and Schinderlin fits the Arteta mould of a holding mid better.
Morning,
Brad should we really be looking at buying cheap options when it comes to quality players..? we been doing that far to long mate.
New Post up………..
No, for sure WATH, I would’ve prefered him to take Diaby’s role and play our box to box mid. Just feeling it’s a bit expensive for a DM as he says he wants to play.
