Arsenal man pays the price for end of season flop?

Afternoon all.

The rain is back, actually it never really went away. The expression ‘Flaming June’ seems appropriate but not for the reasons it is meant. We’re fast moving towards the longest day yet summer hasn’t even begun.

Anyway, there’s still no news. Rumours galore which like everyone else, I love but not because I think Arsenal will end up signing many of them but in wonder of who made the stories up in the first place and how such names are plucked from the sky. The media have already spent over £150 million on our behalf, in Monopoly money of course.

Lucas Torreira might be off they say, he prefers living in Italy they add, he’ll be our big financial boost to match that of LIverpool selling Coutinho. Ok, I made up the last bit but if he does end up being sold, it must before for that reason surely?

I don’t know if there’s a lot of things that I’m enjoying [in England] because I think I liked living in Italy more. London is a completely different world and England is a very big country.’ “I had trouble with the language, communicating with my teammates, with the people. It’s pretty rough in certain moments when you can’t have any dialogue, that’s the most important part.

“The weather is also difficult. You go out in the morning and it’s cloudy and you get back after training and it’s still cloudy. “If I miss the sun? Yes. Mostly us South Americans are used to having sunny days but I think I’ll get used to it as the years go by,”

His last sentence must have been overlooked by those media mischief makers. Not for one minute do I think he’ll go though because the club would be foolish to sell one of its better performers of last season.

Darren Burgess might be going though. Like Sven Mislintat, he was reportedly hired by Ivan Gazidis but now it seems that all three will be part of the club’s history. Suggestion is Burgess is being sacked after the disastrous end to our season which cost us Champions League football and lots of money. I don’t see how our dreadful performances were down to him, he didn’t pick the team or deploy our tactics. Forsythe is another who could move on, either that or take on a different role but again, there’s nothing official from the club. If true though, the back room setup continues to change. In preparation for better things to come one hopes.

Uruguay kick-off their Copa America campaign against Ecuador this Sunday. Brazil are involved in the competition too. I wouldn’t be too disappointed if both get knocked out very early then Torreira can enjoy a longer break than last summer and Edu will take up his new role at Arsenal.

Or is that just a rumour too?

Catch you in the comments guys…

Interesting, Rico, it all seems to be smoke and mirrors.

I is all very well claiming Burgess is getting the chop for our rubbish end to the season, but there are three questions: Who he? Who his boss? Why did his boss not get the chopper?

It is a bit of a mystery to me what Burgess does — responsible for improving fitness, maybe — isn’t Raul Sanllieh his boss – so he is ultimately responsible. However, isn’t the coach Embers responsible with his coaching staff for ensuring they do not run out of puff?

Smoke and mirrors indeed, if it is even true.

Whatever happens in the transfer window, or who we eventually buy, if anyone — I do not think we are going to like it, if any of the crap rumours prove to be true.

A truly miserable, cold, wet day here in Norfolk so wet in fact that it caused a landslide on the cliffs at Sidestrand. For those of you in ignorance of Norfolk geography, that’s to the east of Overstrand which, in turn, is to the east of Cromer.

Selling Torreira would be absolutely senseless, he’s a vital part of our squad and one of the few not imbued with Wenger’s laissez faire attitude.

Thanks for the post Rico, I thought we were going to miss out today. I should have more faith in you. 😉

Everyone knows where Cromer is Rico even the BBC, they used it’s magnificent pier as a venue for the Antiques Roadshow.
    😉

I thought Guendouzi had a fairly good first season for such a young player and would expect him to push on in his second. I hope he stays, but who knows what goes on at Arsenal these days.

    Morning Cicero,

Last Thursday I was on the verge of telling you I would be in Norfolk this week, from last Monday to Thursday, and was going to suggest a pint somewhere, if you were free.

I had to go to Newcastle instead – follow the work – 😳 and another colleague went to Holcombe, and has never stopped complaining that he was going rusty. 😁

My disappointment changed to smug satisfaction! Mind you Newcastle is a bit meh too.

You are right about Terrier – and despite rumours he wants to leave for sunny Italy — he said at the end of the interview referred to that he would adjust to the inclement weather as the years go by. He’ll stay if that was the only evidence of his moving on.
