Arsenal linked with double deal.

Morning all.

Happy Boxing Day.

For weeks and weeks, maybe even months, the BBC had been plugging yesterday’s final ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. We’ve heard it all before about television comedies or dramas which are saying a final goodbye to the screen but on many occasions, I’ve been left feeling disappointed. Not last night! The finale was brilliant and not one bit in it was average let alone disappointing. I laughed, cried and the only disappointment was at the end, knowing I’ll never see a new episode again. It has to be up there with some of the best television series I’ve ever watched, along with Only Fools and Horses.

Football returns today although not for Arsenal as they’re back in action tomorrow. It’ll be the first time of going into a game knowing that Bukayo Saka will not only be missing, but he’ll be missing for a long time.

No sooner have we dissected the performance and/or the result against Ipswich, the transfer window will be open. I’m sure there are fans who say we need a striker, I know I do, but I’m sure there are many who believe we now need a winger too. Signing both next month would be a dream come true wouldn’t it? I think that’s very unlikely but, sometimes, an opportunity can arise which is too good to turn down.

Dani Olmo could be one opportunity as according to reports he could leave Barcelona for free if the club don’t formally register him by midnight on the 31st of December. Barcelona are in financial dire straits apparently and will need to juggle a few things around if they are to solve this problem. Which basically means they need to sell a player or two. Logic suggests they will sell other players rather than risk losing Olmo for free.

According to Sky Sports reporter and Belgian transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, Arsenal have made contact with Olmo’s representatives already. In case you don’t know, he’s an attacking midfielder/winger.

Switching to a striker, reports suggest Arsenal are set to be offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo-Muani next month. The French international, 26, has played just two games this season and would benefit from a loan move elsewhere. (The Sun and Evening Standard) Kolo-Muani is described as being a striker who is able to play on the left and right as well as central.

Unlike the final episode of Gavin and Stacey, I think when the transfer window closes, the feeling of disappointment will be felt by many of us although I’m pretty sure that if Mikel Arteta can bring a player to the club next month, he will.

Catch up in the comments.

Good morning Rico, I’ve been saving Gavin and Stacey for Saturday night when our extended Christmas will finally be over, over that is except for the annual visit to Sheringham’s Little Theatre to see the pantomime. Robin Hood.

We still seem to be linked with defenders and midfielders and only loosely with, what must be, a Saka replacement.

    Morning Cicero.

You won’t be disappointed. It was brilliant but I’ll say no more.

Surely to goodness we won’t be signing any more defenders. Attacking players are in short supply at the club so I’m hoping the club will do something good.

Morning rico and all, hope everyone’s Christmas going well. Gave PC a day off yesterday, I’ve just realised iPhone and iPad are not receiving emails or at best, hours delayed since a recent update, just read last 2 HH posts, had assumed there wasn’t one yesterday😀. And now, iPhone or iPad won’t post to HH, email and user names disappeared at end of comment, had it the other day for a while, anyone else had this?

Gavin and Stacey was brilliant, gone are the days in the 70s when so many good comedies on TV, there was a big annual compilation. Ted Lasso is good, but G&S just has so many things right about it, agree rico, sad there’s no more.

Feel fortunate we have Ipswich at home, first game without Saka. We need Jesus to play out of his skin EVERY game to not miss him, unlikely for anyone to step up that far. Chickens brought home to roost for being one or two light at end of last window, we all knew it! Arteta does now 🙂 I’d settle for one ready made starter to add to team, but not expecting it, more likely a squad member, maybe Merino’s ability at best. Hope I’m wrong.

Morning Andrew, I did the same after a Christmas greeting post. I did think of you at 9pm. 😜

The comments thing is weird, I thought that had sorted itself. Have you a WordPress account as I find that’s the best way to leave comments?

Re transfers, a couple of loans would help. There must be a winger/striker out there who needs minutes…

Everton have done their bit, held City to a one all draw.

Next up Fulham against Chelsea, c’mon the Cottagers !!!

  6. Cicero says:

Yep, Fulham beat Chelsea 2 – 1 at The Bridge, now we just need Leicester to put one over the Scousers.

Then, of course we have to beat Ipswich tomorrow.
