Arsenal get their guy? One man Arsenal must hold on to at all costs!

Morning all.

Apparently Arsenal believe they have finally sealed a £4.5 million deal to land Velez Sarsfield’s exciting young Argentine striker Maxi Romero according to reports this morning. A third party ownership for the player was holding any deal up but that’s now been sorted out. Yeehah!

Other reports suggest West Ham will pay £10 million in order to secure the summer signing of Carl Jenkinson.

Onto something far more sensible, a post from Kev….

For what has seemed like an eternity, we Arsenal fans have suffered, suffered and then suffered some more, as we’ve witnessed one injury crisis after another. It’s almost as if Arsene Wenger had brought a curse with him, when he became Arsenal manager in 1996.

And it’s not just been a recent thing, Arsenal have had some pretty bad luck during those pre-Invincible days and not just the red cards.

We’ve agonised as we’ve lost the likes of Pires, Bergkamp, Edu, Jeffers, Petit, Kanu, Ljungberg and many more at important times of a season and for long periods. Broken limbs were very much the raison d’être for our favourites like Eduardo, Diaby, Sagna and Ramsey. It was all part and parcel of the Arsenal experience.

That was until this season, as we’ve all been living through a revolutionary period for our club without realising it…

Who out there can honestly remember a time when an Arsenal manager had his entire squad to choose from at this stage of the season, in April?

Even perennial Sicknote and friend of the physio Abou Diaby has been announced as being fit to play by our manager. It’s all too much to take in!

Arsenal have no long-term injuries, maybe a groin strain that AOC is resting in case he is needed for the FA Cup Semi-Final or more likely Chelsea.

The Arsenal Training Ground must be bursting at it’s seams with fit footballers. Arsene must be tripping over players, he can hardly know which way to turn. London Colney is full up.

Meanwhile the Physios must be bored to tears. No more long endless conversations with Abou…

Wenger must spend hours picking a starting eleven and even picking the subs bench must be a nightmare for the man….

So, no more lack of rotation Arsene, he has to rotate to keep all his dozens of players in top shape…

But who do we thank for this change in fortune???

Has some gypsy lifted the curse?
Has the Arsenal medical team suddenly become miracle workers or faith healers?
Has Arsene been going to confessional?

Nope, the club employed the Fitness Coach behind the German World Cup National team, Shad Forsythe and our Shad seems to have magic hands or a magic something, because he’s turning out to be a bit of a fitness genius. A guru even….

Forsythe is from the United States. He graduated from Washington State University as a Bachelor of Science. Then he went to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he graduated as a Master of Science in Bio-mechanics and Athletic Administration in 1998. After that he seems to have worked in the US among various Track and Field sports, before the Germans employed him…

Arsenal head-hunted him last summer and he joined our Staff in July 2014. Now, we really need to hang onto him, because other clubs will be trying to prise him away from us…

No more Dermot Drummy situations, thank you!

His influence has been astonishing so far this season.

Our players are not only fit, in general they seem fitter than I can recall in years. I cannot sense any of them showing any signs of fatigue, and this after a World Cup.

As our rivals are seizing up and slowing down, Arsenal seem to be getting stronger…

I wonder how much more influential he’ll be next season???

    Morning again all..

Great post Kev. Totally agree re Shad, it’s too much of a coincidence that players are not only recovering quicker but coming back stronger..

We don’t want the likes of City, Chavs, Mancs poaching him….

  2. tsgh says:

    Excellent read Kev…

I didn’t expect a distinguished man of your kind to diss King Abou….;)

He is doing his doctorate in the sick bay.

  3. Lee says:

    Good post Kev, morning all.
Couldn’t of picked a better week to spend in Cornwall! The weather was ding-dong, ruined it all by going on rugby tour with my son last weekend in Exeter……

Very good post Kev. Morning all. Sure the appointment is reaping rewards, although nothing can account for a Shawcross steaming in. Happy days, just need to get there and beat Pool in the final for a rewarding season. As long as AW doesn’t see so many players around, that his only thoughts are for trimming rather than strengthening.

  5. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Goonners in residence.

Kev – Great article! However, I have one bone to pick with you – I did not agonise when we lost Jeffers. He was no loss at all.

  6. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – “Jeffers scored on his England debut; he and kane share similar records.” Unfortunately there ends the similarities. Our so called ‘Fox in the Box’ was more a ‘Dud in the Mud’.

  7. goonster says:

Hiya rico how are you feeling today?? Any better? ? Mama has a recipe for you. Ginger and hot spicy peppers. That ll definitely cure ya 😀

  8. allezkev says:

    Afternoon All…

Afternoon Rico, glad to hear that you’re better…

    I might watch a DVD this evening….
‘Nuns on the Run’ looks quite good…

Thanks all, for positive response re: post… 🙂

  9. Nashua Gunner says:

    Good morning Rico and All.

Good read Kev. It’s interesting to see AW finding it difficult to please each and every player right now. It not only the injuries coming back but also the stamina the players are showing on the pitch. Even Ozil is tracking back.

I not only impressed with our linchpin Coq but, Ozil as well. When he gives the ball away he tried to at least recover it. So far I can’t seem to get over the FA Cup win in old Toilet.

  10. goonster says:

I can’t complain kev arsenal is on fire. Championship form we re showing just a tad too late but hey am loving it.

  11. allezkev says:

CG, Jeffers was a major disappointment, had a golden opportunity to really make something of his career, but wanked it away…

Wasn’t he at Accrington Stanley last season?

  12. goonster says:

My gooner mate is terrified of manure’s current form. Am not. I think we ll turn them over again at that shithole. Shitty has been atrocious lately I mean come on they lost to palace!

  13. allezkev says:

Thanks Nasher, we gotta repeat that performance in the EPL at Old Bog, I’d hate to finish below them after the season we and they have had…

  14. goonster says:

Kev we have the best midfield in the epl shitty lost that game because yaya couldn’t impose himself on sideshow bob. He was shit yesterday. Plus clishit put a huge smile on my face. So glad we re rid of all those scumbags. Monreal is 7 times the player clishit is. Lol

  15. Canadian Gooner says:

Kev – I gave up following Franny a few transfers ago, another gypsy on a downward spiral to obscurity. At least he got a chance at the top level, which is a lot more than most of the young players get.

  16. Canadian Gooner says:

Stan – Citeh played very well for the first 15-20 minutes until ManUre rallied to give them a game. After that they seemed totally disinterested. They seemed to have no clue what to do. Definitely a team in decline and in need of a major overhaul.

They are going to have trouble moving on many of their under-performing but highly overpaid players.

  17. Adam says:

Oddly enough I had a drink in a nightclub many years ago with Franny and Richard Wright and discovered that there was a bit more to the whole saga than I thought.

  18. tsgh says:

    Hey goonie, Ng…

Goonie- even I will admit Coq was superb in the first half… very astounding… if he can up his fitness up next season and keep doing what he is doing we have ourselves a proper enforcer

  19. tsgh says:

City is an example of a team carrying more than 2 passengers in a starting line-up in the EPL..

AW persisted with carrying 2 or 3 passengers every game for 5 years until after the scums game…

As you have alluded to Ng; everyone is putting in a shift… Even though OG12 did not score he made himself a proper nuisance…

In the 2nd half Sc19 ran himself into the ground… what a turn around; only if Prince Poldi could have done the same…

  20. tsgh says:

No team no matter its quality can carry defensive passengers like Navas, Toure and Silva against a top 4 team imho…
Its’ like the days we use to carry Theo, SC19 on the wings with JW or Ozil behind the striker…

  21. goonster says:

Ts le coq is immense. Some of the tackles he made was world class….11 interceptions in a single game??? That’s madness. Is he the best dm in europe I don’t think so but at this rate it won’t be long.

  22. goonster says:

Nah ts santi is wasted on the wings. We need his quick feet and intricate play in the middle of the pack. Welbeck oxcham and sanchez on the wings for me anyday.

  23. tsgh says:

Very true.. I liked the fact that he kept looking over at Sc19 for his positioning…

If he can improve his fitness and improve his positioning he will be immense….

Nordveit had 13 interception last weekend in the bundesliga.. I heard we had a buy-back clause but it expired last summer.

  24. Adam says:

Stan. We shouldn’t put too much pressure on these guys. Some of the stuff people are saying about Bellerin after a dozen games is stupid. As we saw on Saturday, he is a million miles from being the finished article.

  25. goonster says:

Ts that fitness thingy us a myth. Everyone drops off after the 70th minute hence lecoq is being singled out.

  26. goonster says:

Adam If those guys played elsewhere we ll be tearing our hairs out. Nobody said bellerin is world class yet. We re just excited adam that’s all.

  27. tsgh says:

    You have a point Goonie…;
Reason all the top managers mage changes after 70 minutes

But not a myth re. Le Coq imho… I am sure the info/stats will come out one day..; Ramsey, Vidal, Matic and TR07 to name a few do not drop off in the 2nd half when fit though….

I think once Le coq has a solid pre-season he will be up to speed like most of our midfielders.

  28. tsgh says:

Goonie; without seeming like a hater of Le Coq- you know Ramsey exceeded those figures defensively in several games and still scored goals before his injury 2 Decembers ago?

His defensive contribution was never recognised. Even Lucas was doing more than those figures for the dippers last season…

I believe we should wait and see how things go in May before we start making certain bold statements about players.

Also we are playing one game a season and so such performances should be expected… when repeat such performances playing 3 games a week like we did in parts in 2013 and 2014 then I will definitely get excited… 🙂

  29. goonster says:

What do you guys make of that maxi romero kid?? From the clips I ve seen so far he looks more like aguero Crespo and even angel bastituta than messi. Tall too for his age. One for the future I guess.

  30. goonster says:

Ts you re right ramsay was on fire last season. I guess the reason coquelin is catching our eyes is because of his sliding tackles and all action skills. You re right I ll withold my judgement till next season but from what I ve seen so far this kid is the real deal and ll only get better.

  31. tsgh says:

Goonie- check out Scott’s cousin Miles Jedinak’s figures and you will wonder why he is so underrated… 😉
If his passing was not poor and maybe he wasn’t from Aus land he would be talked about more often…

  32. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the house.
Great post Kev and its good to see the house track about the goodguys.
Had a terrible time last week Rico made worse by having problems logging in to the house. Kept getting the error Web page not found the had the Browser timed out.
But to top it all when the web page opened it directed me to a Bundesliga Fans Forum ,they get everywhere don’t they.

  33. Lee says:

    I wasn’t being suggestive at all Stan…… that’s Adam / Kev’s territory, I’d never step on their toes!! 😉

  34. Rick says:

Rico the U21’s are playing Reading tonight at the Emeriates and it is being shown live on Arsenal .com.
The team is Macey, Pleguezueli(Spelling) b-Ottiwell Diaby Oconnor Beilik Crowley M-Niles,Iwobi, Wilshere (Captain) Serge.
Reading are 3rd we are 4th a must win game.
Please excuse spelling having big problemes with keyboard. Latta.

  35. allezkev says:

Funnily enough I had a drink in a pub with some Aussie guy last year, and unsurprisingly ended up out of my box…

  36. allezkev says:

    Cheers Rick re: post…

    Thanks for U21 info…

I suppose that those seniors who play are unlikely to be involved at Wembley

  37. Micko says:

Variety is the spice of life rico, the odd fun sized bar won’t do you any harm.

Apologies for the reality check but with 8 games to play that gives Diaby plenty of time to pull a muscle.

  38. tsgh says:

Micko… I am concluding that you are hating on King Abou because just wish you could pull a sickie as often as he does.. 🙂

  39. Micko says:

tsgh, as the saying goes don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Hasn’t Dion Dublin just landed the new role of presenter for Homes Under the Hammer, there’s hope for Abou yet.

  40. goonster says:

Micko get off diaby’s case. I actually like him. Afternoon guys what’s new?? Poop and the geordies in an hours time. A draw ll do nicely plus a few red cards for the mugmashers .

  41. goonster says:

If only cabella could work on his final ball. He ll be a beast. Hey rico I wouldn’t mind sissoko as a squad player coming in for ramsey. What do you think?

  42. goonster says:

Ts I was saying about cabella. He just needs to bulk up a little bit and work on his final ball. He’s not a bad player to have.

  43. goonster says:

Yea ts k was gonna incorporate thst. He knows OG’s movements so he ll be a good squad player to have. I wouldn’t mind him over sanogo 😀

  44. goonster says:

Still don’t get the hype with sterling. He’s a good player but better than oxcham?? I don’t think so.

  45. goonster says:

Ts wellington ll be mauled in this league. He hogs the ball way too much. Something wenger needs to work on. He ll “shawcrossed” all around the country.

  46. tsgh says:

I personally thing sterling is more consistent than ox but ox looks like the sky can be his limit.
I think sterling may regress in London though.Too many friends here.

  47. goonster says:

Ts I beg to differ…consistent you say?? No way he’s got 7 goals and 3 assists all season plays higher up the pitch than oxcham plus don’t forget our system gets the best out of players like rambo and ozil. Oxcham is the real deal give him a full year under his belt without no injuries and you ll be saying hazard who???

  48. tsgh says:

Agreed. If he can string a few games together.
I think ox is a bit one dimensional atm…
Serge is the players I consider all round.

  49. goonster says:

Ts I don’t think you been watching aoc lately. When he’s on the ball you just know something is going to happen. Remember that marvelous foot walk to release monreal against yanited?? That’s class. He ll be better than most English “wonder kids” if he can stay healthy. Oxcham>sterling.

  50. rico says:

OC, once fit and healthy will be something more than one dimensional Imo…

Still, why be positive about our players eh…..

  51. goonster says:

I guess you ll tell me in 3 months time that Jordan ibe is better than iwobi or akpom?? Come on man.

  52. tsgh says:

Goonie.2 years ago serve was playing more games than ox.
When gervinho was sold aw said serve was his replacement.

  53. goonster says:

You said it ts 2 years ago. 2 years later he’s the best of our young players. Trust me watch this kid closely.

  54. goonster says:

Maam am a gooner through and through. It’s my job to defend the cause plus we can all see it. Ts is just being naughty lol.

  55. goonster says:

If I don’t know any better I ll say he’s doing it on purpose just to rile me up. Lol ginge you mischievous old goat. Lol

  56. rico says:

    Good on you Goonie..

Ts is just being Ts – everyone other than Arteta, Kos and Ramsey will always be picked on… 😉

  57. goonster says:

Rico I keep wondering whatever happened to the moaners. Even micko and lee has been in good spirits lately . lol.

  58. tsgh says:

The last time I checked Serge was an Arsenal player so not sure how I am not backing an Arsenal player?
I never said I didn’t rate ox btw so don’t understand why it’s going down wrongly..
All I said was if ox can be consistent the sky would be his limit…

  59. rico says:

Goonie – I think the majority on here judge the club, the manager etc on a weekly, monthly basis and that’s because we have been awful for a long time… Like many, I was ready to see the back of Arsene at the end of last season and again at Christmas but, I think he’s really changed things around for the better…

He’s made many mistakes imo, neglected the squad etc but…. It’s been a long time since we have looked as assured as we do right now. Two/three players in the summer and we really could win the pl under Wenger again…..

But of course, they’ll always be a fan(s) out there who criticise a player or two or something else….

  60. rico says:

I agree Joe, but it’s easier to shine when up against ‘lesser’ players. But, I truly hope Jack comes back into the first team and does really really well….

  61. Joe says:

Yep it was like watching the first team of old lots of chances not taken they score from a set piece we spend the rest of the game playing against a parked bus.
Oh we get caught on the break a number times.

  62. goonster says:

Joe the question no is where does jack fit in?? I don’t think he can get in the team with the way we are playing now. He ll mess up the sequence. Man what a job arsene has on his hands. So glad am not him. Lol

  63. tsgh says:

    Always calm mate…
I never criticized any player. I have my favourites who are mostly those under appreciated. imo.
I might say a player is lazy or does not track back.

  64. Micko says:

Don’t worry tsgh, I’ve got your back, rico’s just being a nasty little pudding !

Stan, know what you mean about Lee, he makes Victor Meldrew look like an angel.

  65. goonster says:

Ts with ayoze sissoko cabella et al you wonder why the geordies are not pushing for Europe. Incredible.

  66. tsgh says:

Lol Goonie.you are always misquoting me…
All i said sterling is more consistent now…
If you guys disagree..it’s fair play.maybe it’s my choice of words…
Ox is Always injured and so he hasn’t been able to show what he I’d capable off…
It’s like saying Abou is better than matuidi now when abou hardly plays…

  67. goonster says:

Rixo sterling is just hype much like Harry kane. They ll all fade into oblivion eventually. Jeffers Bentley etc.

  68. tsgh says:

Jm I use to think u21 score emulated seniors but not anymore. we need to win fa cup…
I am pleased to see guiterez back…
Micko,I believe you like I believe Red Ed and Osbourne…lol

  69. Micko says:

As corny as it sounds Stan, I can’t be arsed with any of the other sites, you still surviving on burgers and pizza’s.

You must have gone to a posh school rico, we only got Semolena pudding if we were lucky lol.

  70. Joe says:

Sterling’s price is falling by the minute if this keeps up we will able to get him for Jenks Rico is gone right.

  71. allezkev says:

You got Semolina Mick, you must have gone to a Grammar School, all we got at school was a thrashing…

  72. potter says:

Semolina with obligatory lumps on Monday , Tuesday add some water and a bit of Cocoa powder on top , Wednesday reheat and put the skin under the grill to brown on top , Thursday serve with a bit of fruit in season , Friday use the rest to build a new bicycle shed.

School dinners are not what they used to be.

  73. tsgh says:

Micko is just pretending to be a ‘commoner’
I bet he had eton-mess daily in Eton with Boris and Cameron. 😉

Ok.. Rico, it must be Queen Anne’s then… 😉
