Arsenal break transfer record…

Morning all.

I can feel a new signing announcement coming today. Who though I don’t know but I’d hazard a guess at Noni Maduke as this story has been doing the rounds for a while now. If he does sign, he won’t be heading out to Asia with the rest of the squad because despite not playing for Chelsea in the stateside Mickey Mouse Cup, he trained so he needs a holiday.

The players and staff depart for Singapore on Saturday and ideally, Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera would be on the aeroplane with the rest of the squad but that’s looking unlikely now. I suppose they can follow on in a few days time if Arsenal can get a wriggle on.

A number of academy players have been in Spain training with the first team:- Copley, Dudziak, Kabia, Kacurri, Nichols, Rojas, Dowman, Harriman-Annous, Ibrahim and Salmon. All will be hoping to play a part in our pre season fixtures I’m sure. To be fair, they’ll need to because it’ll be hot, humid and we don’t want knackered players before the new season kicks off. Mind you, we don’t want knackered players at Christmas or in April either.

Away from the mens side of the club, Arsenal have completed the first £1m transfer in women’s football by signing Canadian forward Olivia Smith from Liverpool. The 20 year old and Liverpool’s player of the season will be a huge addition to Renee Slegers squad.

The club are obviously going big this summer both in the men’s and women’s game. Renée Slegers will no doubt be planning to end Chelsea’s reign in the Women’s Super League.

Rumours are doing the rounds this morning suggesting Ethan Nwaneri has signed on the dotted line. I’m pretty sure these stories are true. He’s Arsenal through and through so why would he think the grass is greener elsewhere? I bet it’s never entered his head to leave. Last season was his first in the senior team, this season could turn out to be his best. He’s such a quality player who deserves to be on the Emirates grass. Mikel Arteta isn’t stupid, he knows what Nwaneri can bring to the team but like every other player, he’ll have time out too. We can’t moan about Arteta not rotating only to then moan about who gets how much time on the pitch. Anyway, I’m thrilled that Nwaneri is staying. Now to tie down Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.

Anyway, with Arteta back from Spain, I’m sure we’ll get some positive news from the club either today or tomorrow. Then we can all moan about who it is Arsenal have signed. lol

Lastly, good luck to the England women who take on Sweden tonight in the Euros quarter-finals. Should be a cracker..

Catch up later..

Olivia Smith. One million pounds. Wow!!
And she’s good, very, very good. Fast, direct and lethal!
What a signing for the ladies
    Brilliant.

    Morning all😊

Morning Wavy, yep, quite a catch.

I reckon Renee is going big for the WSL and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see her succeed.

Glad to see the Women’s Team is making great progress re new players.
Gyokeres. Very boring now! Perhaps its time to move on and go elsewhere as SP are determined to make this a very difficult deal to finalise and Gyokeres if he has to stay should “sky high” all of his attempts for goal.
After yesterday’s results against Celtic, looks like SP will last two minutes in the Champs League!

Yeah Dev, that’s how I saw it with Wright, the club I believe were investing a lot in developing Obi Martin, who given our injuries last season might have actually made the breakthrough, but he took the Man Utd coin so that left us light in attack and U18/U21.

Wright you could possible say the same in relation to Liverpool in that he took a nice wedge from Arsenal. But look at the broader picture, Obi Martin left a successful club with a clear pathway to join a shambles in Salford already well stacked with strikers of all description.

Wright had a choice between the two top clubs in England, at one it had Salah and a host of other forwards and has just spent a record fee on Wirtz, a forward and are still chasing a centre forward addition as well.
Whilst at Arsenal there’s plenty of opportunity for a young forward to progress because, as I’m constantly told, we have no forwards.

Even with Gyökeres the chances will be more numerous at Arsenal than at The Spion Kop Mk2.

Afternoon Rico, good post, I’m not at all concerned about the ‘signings’ we’ve not announced yet, look at ManUtd with the boy from Brentford, Mbueno, that’s been going on forever but nobody seems to fret about it in the media, well maybe a few have, but we only focus on Arsenal and therefore think it’s an Arsenal issue, but every club has hassles getting transfers over the line.

Fulham haven’t signed anyone, so I read the other day, Fulham fans must be losing their minds, but that doesn’t generate clicks does it?

    Afternoon Kev, thanks.

It’s because it’s us, Arsenal. We have a history of being slow, ponderous and missing out. Not to mention ending a transfer window knowing we’re lacking in areas..

  8. allezkev says:

Had a lot of injuries, maybe he was an option when we were looking to replace Jorginho but now we have Nordgaard, maybe it’s agent generated to keep the interest in him alive?
