Are you starting to believe in Arsene Wenger again? Ozil better than Cookeen…..

Morning all.

Remember the line from the cooking advert?

“Give em a lift,…ahah, with Cookeen”

Well it seems that signing Mesut Ozil has not only raised the hearts of all Arsenal fans, the players are thrilled too.

Theo:

“He is a great addition and I am personally looking forward to playing with him. I think it definitely shows a statement that we are ready to step up and Ozil is going to be fantastic for me personally.

“With the amount of the assists he has got, it’s a dream for me to see, so I am very excited to see him in the flesh and play with him. I am sure all the Arsenal fans will be looking forward to the Sunderland game.”

Lukas Podolski:

“AHA! Welcome as a new Gunner Bro! So happy that Mesut is joining AFC and we can play together in the…

Not quite sure what the rest of that message was, I’m sure it was football related though. 😉

Santi Cazorla:

Welcome, such an amazing player.

Jack Wilshere:

Fantastic player, plays the ‘Arsenal way’.

Aaron Ramsey:

Welcome to Arsenal, great signing for us.

Olivier Giroud:

Just arrived in Paris and heard this morning Ozil new sign. Welcome to the Gunners family Mesut.

There are more but keep copying/pasting gets boring after a while……

But not everyone is pleased though, team mate and good friend Ramos:

It’s obvious that he is a special team-mate and friend. I’ve always had a real friendship with him, and it’s a shame. He’s a great footballer, unique.

Everyone is free to choose the best for themselves, but if I were to decide what was happening at Madrid he would be one of the last who would be going.

Forgetting the comments of Ramos, every player at Arsenal is absolutely thrilled to bits with our huge summer signing, it’s given them a huge lift in both spirit and belief and Sunderland must be dreading playing us a week on Saturday.

Whereas, I bet each and every one player who wears red and white can’t wait to see their new team-mate and get the game started, just like us fans.

This could be the start of something very special at Arsenal, we have the big named player in the door, now others will surely want to follow. This signing is a huge statement made by Arsene Wenger and yes, I mean Arsene Wenger because not too long ago he said that he has the final say on transfers both in and out.

I knock him when he gets it wrong, but this signing is a big fat ‘right’.

Just look at what Mesut said after signing:

I am really looking forward to it because I have the faith of the coach. I had spoken to him at length on the telephone, he explained his plans and that he has faith in me – that is what I need as a player.

Wenger gives me the faith and I can develop further. I know what I can do and I know that I could make the grade with any club in the world because I am so convinced in myself, but if I don’t feel people have faith in me, then that is why I had to leave and at Arsenal, I feel I have this fully.

I am sure the new coach is going to develop me further and I am also really looking forward to playing in the Premier League.’

Fans can say what they want about Arsene Wenger but it sure seems like he has the right words for players when it matters. Manchester United, PSG and even Tottenham tried to gazzump this deal but the words from Arsene Wenger were enough, there was no going back for the German.

Mesut Ozil clearly believes in Arsene Wenger and although fans wanted him to sign more players, I certainly did but is this one big statement enough to make you start believing in him too?

Do you believe that signing top quality established players is the way he’s going to go from now on with the odd youth player here and there?

Finally, congratulations to Thomas Vermaelen and his wife who together have brought another little Gooner in to the world.

His name is Raff….

That’s it for another day…..

  1. EiE says:

We didn’t need yet another attacking midfield player, we are catered for in that area, we needed a forward, top goalie, a centre half and a big strong defensive midfielder. Poor show from the club, all talk and no action. You don’t bid £40 for Suarez if you think we have enough strikers, in the end we bought no one up top. Wenger Out!

  2. Lawrence says:

Happy yes, belief yes. Is one in enough not sure. Just hope we can keep up with Chelski and Citeee by January and see a push to strengthen our squad further and title glory can be accomplished.

We still need a striker and defender.

Have a good day gooners and cant wait for the 14th.

  3. Ian Harvey says:

Nice to see plenty of ignorance in the Arsenal ranks (comments, not the OP). Thank god Wenger doesn’t have to listen to the vocal minority.

  4. rico says:

    Morning all..

I suspect we’ll soon here AW has signed a new contract….

I hope he has Matty, £60 million, and seeing what AW is like, it will have been included I suspect.

  5. Lewis says:

    Morning all,

Arsene has done enough to get himself back in favour with the fans, most of us had gripes with the way our business was done this transfer window. Leaving signings to the last minute has it’s dangers which were there for all to see i.e. Ba. But Ozil is massive for us, what a player, the videos on youtube for him are extensive because there are so many wonderful things that he does on a consistent game to game basis. We were saying before our first 11 is a match for anyone and now it has just gone up a level, hats off to Arsene and Co. I gave them shit before but this is a real coup and credit where it’s due.

We all know the squad still needs a few more in, but that will have to wait, for now we just need to unite and get behind this team, make sure the villa result was a one off!!!

  6. David says:

Now Wenger dazed me for the first time in my life. Though l wish he could add one or two players to the squad. I can wait to see Ozil playing for us next week.

  7. rico says:

EiE – as much as I am chuffed to bits to finally see a big named player signed as I truly believe we needed one to encourage many more to follow, I would have rather seen him be the icing on the cake having signed in the positions you mention.

Altough those who have seen our new keeper play, believe he’s very strong so we may just have signed a top keeper.

The ‘DM’ – well it looks like Flamini will be that man and credit where it’s due, he did very well on Sunday and that was his first game in a long while so he’ll only get better.

Right sided CH and Striker are the big two missing for me…

  8. Scott from Oz says:

Wenger has spent money on a world class player.
He now has the ammunition, so must get results.
No excuses….he got what he wanted.
    I can’t see any reasons he won’t produce 🙂

  9. Lewis says:

Spuds are saying he has a clause that if we don’t get CL this year he can leave. The outpouring of sour grapes from them is hilarious. Irony, without them we wouldn’t have signed the best midfielder in the prem. HAHAHA. Spud Twats!

  10. rico says:

Lewis, exactly, the players need us to be behind them, and as I keep saying, it’s not their fault we didn’t sign a striker.

Imho, up front is where we will struggle the most, we have cover at Rb with Jenks who will surely only get better and better and we do have TV and Mikel Arteta coming back soon.

I have a view on the striker situation but that’s all done and ready for tomorrow 😉

  11. malaga gooner says:

morning rico and all, more excited today than annoyed yesterday, looking at the squad it dont look that short except upfront, maybe a striker is on the cards in jan

  12. rico says:

Well think twice before typing next time Scott – We all have a view and you know that better than most 😉

I strongly suspect that is poppycock Lewis, sour grapes indeed, Levy really is a bitter and twisted old buffoon..

  13. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

Hiya Scott, don’t you love it when a few come here repeating what clueless pundits repeat…

Eie, we are not ‘catered’ for in that area. In my view and a few on here we formed the conclusion from last September that we needed a proper no.10.

If we had a proper no.10 we would never have lost to Chelsea and Yanited last season as their DM would have struggled to boss the game against us like they did against us…

The 1-0 lose against Norwich last October after the international break was another example of how Tettey their DM bossed SC19 out of the game completely because he is not a natural DM…

  14. S2S says:

Hey Morning guys, Hey Scott evening..

    Hows everything?

Everyone @ Arsenal camp are happy and Real camp are not so. That says volume about player.

Other sites say the shirt sales have gone 12 fold in last 24-48 hours. That is incredible. I hope our Management and board understand this part of business. I think we’d understand this part of business now and try and get more players like this. The shirt sale can be huge part of business and everyone should know that.

  15. rico says:

Morning Mg, I guess that will depend on where we are in Jan, my own view is that next summer will see the striker come in, I only say that because AW wanted a year long lone for Ba.

But, Suarez and Rooney may just be chomping at the bit to leave their clubs by then if things don’t go so well, so anything is possible…

Suggestion is that we tried for Rooney and Benteke on DD, whether that’s true or not I don’t know..

  16. malaga gooner says:

i think the situation with the pod will be the major factor.if hes playing by december i think the summer as well

  17. rico says:

Ts – same as I said to Scott, don’t take jibes at others, they are entitled to their view without ridicule…

And, we don’t need to read the newspapers to know we are very short in the striker department.

  18. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i heard those same rumours about DD.
If we are looking good come January, maybe Rooney will be worth another crack.

  19. gary says:

I think we tried for a forward but couldn’t get(which is pretty poor) but if luck with injuries may get by, Poldi or Theo can also play there.. Wont win the league but sure we will be right up there

  20. Gtid says:

A lot of people are massively under-estimating this arsenal squad. Maybe they should check our results since we last lost to the Tots last season. Even though our style of playing attractive football has gone down a bit since Fabregas and Nasri left but we’ve added a new style of play and we’ve been getting better results. The counter attacking style being used by Napoli. The defence is actually not our problem though we look shaky at the back sometimes, it is actually our attack that needs a little more consistency, we need to be very clinical infront of goal. In the NLD, we could have won by 3 goals if Theo had the finishing touch of Podolski. With Özil now in the mix, I hope we play more beautiful football with important results. If all our injured players come back, we’re a much better team than people think.
    GTID

  21. rico says:

MW – I hope so, it’s been a long time.

Mg – 3 months for Podolski, he won’t be back I suspect until January..

Will be interesting to see how he plays Scott, if he really doesn’t want to be there, it would certainly be worth a try. Jose isn’t going to get him that’s for sure and we are the next best club for him.

  22. tsgh says:

I think Zelalem will be a good player come November and will get the odd game here and there.

    Gnarby is equally as good.

I will rather give an English man like Aneke, Hayden and Yennaris a go than get another mercenary in as a DM. I know a lot of fans do not rate Frimpong but AW does and at one time AW was telling the FA to ensure they get Frimpong to play for England…

Bellerin feature 2 or 3 times for the seniors last season at LB and did not put a foot wrong.

Miquel’s debut at Leicester was received well by the Foxes too… why should we buy for the sake of buying.

It is worth noting that only 15% of signings this summer where British… very shocking in my view. I want England to do well too at international level even though I must admit I fall asleep watching England play… lol

  23. malaga gooner says:

ginge, demba ba had a problem getting insured because he could not complete a proper medical in time to sign for any 1.no 1 was prepared to take that risk.

  24. Scott from Oz says:

    Well said Gtid.
We may not be as pretty, but we now win games we’d have lost two or three years back.
We have grit, and that was never so evident as v Spuds.

  25. S2S says:

    @ Lewis:

We know Nik B can do it. He did it once when we needed him when all other strikers were injured and he helped us get champion league spot. I think his downward spiral started from League cup final where according to him he had to be played since he was one of the major reason we got there and I still remember that awesome goal in Semi where he showed mind blowing first touch from Jack’s long ball. And from there he and club have fell apart.

Now he needs the club and club need him so its quid pro quo. I hope we both do it.

  26. ozgunner says:

Lovely signing indeed – does it address all of Arsene’s issues like the apathy we have seen from this team so many times over recent years, like the poor poor excuses for even poorer performances, like the ridiculous remarks about players ability, that even the most modest of football brains could see where miles off. No it doesn’t. Fact is, we’ve had money for a long time and wasted millions along the way. We now have Bendtner as our one real central striking option… Is there a change in the wind, yes i think there might be, Wenger was on his way out no doubt, the fans were loosing interest in him big time, he had to react. Gaz put him under huge pressure thankfully. Do leopards change their spots? We will find out. if one signing results in a 10m a year deal for Wenger, its a rubbish call IMO. He has clearly made some big promises to Ozil, lets now see if he delivers, hopefully before we jump the gun and pay him even more to finish a distant trophy less fourth. NO issue with giving him some time but NO new contract based on an ordinary window after another poor season.

  27. Andrew says:

Gnabry included in the first team on the official website!…
    Signs of things to come…?
Welcome Germany!! Keep em coming! 🙂

  28. tsgh says:

Mg, he is not injured… he is scoring goals at u-21 level but his stamina is quite poor from what I have read and I saw when he played in the Nex Gen match last season…

  29. rico says:

G’tid, I’m not so sure many are underestimating the squad we have, as you say, we showed our true colours on Sunday.

But did you see how tired players were at the end, they can’t do that week in week out and stay fit and ready for the next game, they need a rest and that’s where it becomes tricky because the strength in depth isn’t there…

I know not every side will cause us so many problems in the last minutes of a game but…

Time will tell, we can all say x,y and z, but only as the fixtures come and go will we really know just how good or not this squad will be…

At the moment it’s looking good, now just pray all the players come back unscathed and our performances keep on improving.

  30. rico says:

Ts – thanks for that, just less of this kind of stuff please:

‘Hiya Scott, don’t you love it when a few come here repeating what clueless pundits repeat’

    HH is better than that…

  31. rico says:

    Moving on……

Oz, I don’t think it does either but I don’t think AW is on his way, in fact I think we’ll soon hear he’s signed a new contract.

All the time Kroenke is our majority shareholder he’ll stay.

In fact, my own opinion, and it’s no more than that, is should AU buy Kroenke’s shares, he too would want AW to stay..

    For a while….

  32. Scott from Oz says:

    Smile Oz 🙂
Mate, we need to see how this season pans out before (a) condemning Wenger or (b) offering him a new contract.
Plenty of time for him to prove he can get it done.
    Lets give it to him.

  33. tsgh says:

I was hoping Eisfield would replaced TR07 as they have identical styles but…

I don’t think he enjoys playing on the rhs of the front 3. When he came on against Reading in the CoC last season. Him and Le Coq formed the midfield 2 when we AW went 4-2-4 and we came back from 4-1 to win…

Olsson is another gem I rate highly too… he claims to model his game on TR07. I think he is more of a Cesc but…

Too many TR07 lovers out there. Even Reus who was not at BVB when TR07 was orchestrating their midfield says his idol is the lil Czech genii us…

  34. rico says:

We were once French Andrew, but that baton seems to have been handed to Pardew, we are now going German 🙂

    I don’t mind one bit…. 😉

  35. Scott from Oz says:

I should point out Oz is miserable because his side of the country is dark, dreary, wet and miserable all the time 🙂
Kidding…..a beautiful part of the world is WA.
    How are things mate?

  36. malaga gooner says:

true ginge, but for me you can tell a good up and coming attacking player is the way they find space and eisfeld does that well

  37. ozgunner says:

I think if we’d have brought no one the fan pressure would have been huge Rico, not to mention the press. I say again, he had no choice but to spend and spend big, even if half the kitty got saved ha! As the season pushes on we’ll soon have the answers to the questions. So far lately we have shown some real heart, long may it continue. We’re going to loose games and as long as we go down fighting, sh*t happens. We need cup runs although whether we have the strength in depth now for that, not sure. Maybe January will help us out.

  38. naked goon says:

    tsgh,

shows how highly regarded Mozart is on the continent, and has been one of my favourite players for a long time, such a shame he had those injuries, we have never really seen his best but his attitude is still that of a top class footballer. A lesson to all the young pups and no surprise why AW kept him on. A coach of the future?

  39. ozgunner says:

nor miserable at all Scott, have made endless positive comments about Ozil, but some of last seasons hopeless performances are still fresh in my mind, so carried away, no.

  40. tsgh says:

The french are coming back though.. not they won the u-20 championship ahead of Germany and Spain…

England well, until they get Glenda in charge or get someone like Dev with tactical awareness I doubt we will see any success.

Its like Ghana and Nigeria. Both nations have won more u-20 titles than any other nations bar Brazil but after 21 years old football goes from just skill and talent to tactical awareness which can make a player like Pirlo who will finish last in a 1 man race appear fast in a wc final match…. 🙂

This summer an African i.e Ghanaian was voted top scorer and 2nd best player at the u-20 world cup behind Podga but how many people know his name or will hear about him from now onwards? lol

  41. ozgunner says:

your faith in Wenger has not waned Scott and I admire that in you TBH – me… i don’t like him as a person and don’t rate his game tactics to highly at times either, or some of his horrible buys but I do hope we holding aloft the EPL trophy next season, even if i can’t see it and look forward to you telling me you were right all along. Bit like that Ramsey hatrick, oh wait a minute…. 🙂

  42. tsgh says:

Naked g, I totally agree with your comment on TR07… he is also my fave player…

I would get him and Arteta to coach our u-18 squad because we have the talent at that level but tactically we are lacking to get our players to progress further.

  43. tsgh says:

Scott, TR07 has only had 2 proper pre-seasons with us since join in 2006/2007. Its a shame really…
we fans underestimate the importance of pre-season…

Sagna is another example. This summer was his first in 3 summers…
Song did not get pre-season with Barca last season and he played less than 20 games… this season he has feature more albeit only 3 or 4 game into the season.

  44. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, i was ready to pounce when he put that volley away v Fenerbahce mate…..he was looking good that day.
    It’s coming 🙂
I don’t have a blind spot for Wenger though.
It just seems obvious to me, and i may well be wrong still, that the cash has been there, but not necessarily available to spend.
Tactically, i say he is lacking at times, but he nailed it v Spurs, and it does help when your players are playing well.
Anyway, in my eyes the TW was a ripper…could have been better but could have been a disaster…so now he has he tools, no excuses.

  45. Karl says:

We win nothing, still playing for fourth. Wenger will have to play Carzola wide left that will make him less effective and a point of weakness defensively. The retention of Bendtner is shocking. We have six tough CL matches to play, that means Theo will play CF at times, he is not a CF. So, great signing Ozil, Flamini could be significant because of his personality, but Giroud aint enough, and anybody who believes Wenger’s suddenly gonna get his mojo back is living in LaLa land. Wenger will stay, who at the club can sack him? Remember the Emirates his is own personal empire now, Silent Stan has left him to his own devices. The Spuds have Levy and Baldini and a great batch of young English coaches headed by Sherwood. The Ozil signing covers up the decaying infrastructure of our club, management, coaching, medical. Our doctor says Pod is out for three weeks, the German doctor now confirms he’s out for THREE months. Don’t believe the hype!!

  46. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning all Rico you have your bounce back, I said you would smile and love him again. 🙂
Theo seems overjoyed, probably realises that Ozil will do his share of graft and make him look good as well. Although i am over the moon with Wengers signing, i would jump over the moon if Theo got stuck in with some proper graft. Yes Gooners spirits are up. Wenger will feel he has stopped the rot, but it shouldn’t stop here, Signings like Ozils should come more and more, we have a thriving business and this type of investment should be coming every window. we have gotten over the tough times and we should now take our place at the top of the league. Personally i felt we had a good team before the window but with our clear out we did look a bit thin. I feel Wenger has done realy well get shot of the deadwood and freeing up funds and then bringing in replacements that can only improve us. I feel we have a squad that can last a whole season, and i fancy our chances to win a big one. Looking at the money we have spent does not gaurentee winning things one top man does not make a team, but with players like Flamini a decent keeper just to prop the back up and some of our injured coming back i am realy hopeful. Our bench will look decidedly better Nick will have to work his socks off to even get a snif but i hope he tries. Our keepers will obviously start the next game but one mistake could soon put them in order so a lot resting on their performances not forgettin Fabi he in my mind has done nothing wrong for some time i hope he gets his chance as well. Verm coming back can only strengthen and Diaby nearing his 4 or 5 games is also promising the future looks bright, Many happy returns to Adam for yesterday sorry to have missed it mate.

  47. rico says:

Oz – certainly agree the pressure was on him, I think that was IG’s clear message when he said we had money.

Jan and next summer will be huge, especially if he is planning to stay.

But let’s see what happens this season, either way, the fans will have a say in what happens i’m sure..

We need the NLD support, well the players do, big time..

  48. Steve says:

Rico, only ever written to you before to moan about Wenger but I think the way that the manager and team have responded to the Villa game has been fantastic.

I am over the moon with the Ozil signing and I think in two days Wenger has really rubbed Tottenham in the dirt.

I think that the striker situation changed during the window. In June we were looking for a first choice, now we need a back-up for OG. I have to say I have always liked the look of Giroud. I can’t remember an Arsenal striker who worked harder, he has a fabulous touch with his left foot ( Ray Kennedy ??? ) and he doesn’t have the fragile confidence of players like Chamakh or Gervinho. Give Wenger a couple of years and I think he’ll be a monster.

  49. rico says:

You don’t know that Karl, no more than you know how AW will set his side up..

Hi Sp, I voted no, so you are wrong 😉

  50. emma says:

    Morning all,

Gnabry and Ryo Myiachi listed as first team members on .com. I thought Eisfeld should have been promoted as well. This could be his last season with arsenal

  51. tsgh says:

    Hiya SP1… all well?
Have you seen the sperds claiming Eriksen is better than Ozil… dear oh dear…

They have started to get their excuses in already by claiming AVB is a bad manager… I think they want old twitcher back. lol

  52. rico says:

Can’t disagree there Steve, I don’t recall you moaning though 😉 No more than me anyway…..

Giroud was outstanding on Sunday, his best game in an Arsenal shirt and I agree, he’ll only get better and better..

  53. tsgh says:

Emma- you are right, he turns 21 then and he would need to be registered or shipped off… it will be a shame in my opinion.

We can swap him for Gundagon or Hoffman. 😛

  54. ozgunner says:

and just to put it into perspective my boy has had the TR07 on his wall for years, yesterday he asked for the Ozil 11 – uumm times are a changing 🙂

  55. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, the biggest difference might be Fifa 13.
Any kid with it knows Ozil.
I asked Sean about him, and he was able to tell me his position, club, shirt number and Fifa rating straight off the bat.
The kids can know more of a player than we adults.

  56. ozgunner says:

I’m a football manager addict my self mate, got everyone made from the old champman days haha! Every second friday the tribe comes over, United fan, Inter fan and my lad, out comes the booze and by midnight the tasty language is in full flight i tell ya!!

  57. Scott from Oz says:

I have used Xbox to teach Sean a few things, and it works.
When you can replay something over and over, it sinks in.
Good fun playing as well though…until he beats me 🙂

  58. tsgh says:

Gundagon will have 1 more year after this season. with his turkish roots him and Ozil could be something…

I still want Eisfield and Aneke to be given a chance first.

Aneke is doing very well 2 divisions down as a no.10 but he could do a box to box role for us with his height. Considering Barca wanted him it is a shame he has not been given much chances…

  59. ozgunner says:

i agree Scott, to even try that is quite amazing. Wonder why they call him inventive though? Apparently Ronaldo is well pissed at loosing his star offsider as well. January move maybe? 🙂

  60. potter says:

Don’t write Rosicky off just yet , the guy is a genius. Ozil will find the intensity of our league difficult to adapt to and Tomas is the perfect player to dovetail with him.

  61. potter says:

Arsenal have been too staid in the tactical line ups for a few years and opponents have been able to see our plans long before kick off. Attacking wise now we have many alternatives with a number of players able to do different things . All we need now is captain that can change things mid half and we will confuse most teams.
“The future is bright” if we are using advertising slogans Rico.

  62. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Have you managed to contain your excitement over the Ozil signing yet Rico? I am still wild about it although I have stopped foaming at the mouth now.

  63. Lewis says:

I still can’t believe Madrid let him go!

Rico, soon I’ll try and put a post together for you, busy busy at the moment though. 🙂

  64. rico says:

potter – I read somewhere that Merts is now the official captain for this season, he’s not very vocal though is he.

I think Flamini could prove to be the leader on the pitch…

I like that, is it orange too 😉

  65. Scott from Oz says:

Is it fair to say he’d be in the top 6-8 players on world football, or do i have rose coloured glasses on?

  66. tsgh says:

Emma- you can picture AW was foaming at the prospect of Ozil doing what he likes his no.10 to be capable of doing…

  67. ozgunner says:

i agree Scott, he is to pinch a famous coaches words “quite unique” and truly outstanding technique. If we get him scoring he could be top 2/3

  68. emma says:

I still can’t believe that madrid sold ozil to us. It’s like am still dreaming.
Daily star reporting that vangreedy is not happy with Moyes method and transfer dealings

  69. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, Emma may well be right.
Seriosuly, i am still stunned we got him.
    What were Real thinking?
    I think we stole him.
Shoud we offer him back, in the spirit of good will?

  70. ozgunner says:

    wow – Chelsea Boss…
We didn’t accept Arsenal’s offer for Demba Ba because the signing of Ozil makes them title contenders.’

  71. tsgh says:

Oz- ‘there will be plenty of yellow cards being dished for the opposition of this lad that is for sure’ , have you forgotten he will be playing for Arsenal and not Yanited? lol

Ref’s would love ignoring challenges on him. The 2 Jamie’s will then start their crusade to say he is a diver and people will fall for it… 🙁

Scott- If he can be consistent then he would be top 3. I think he is too laid back so a few might think he is not putting in an effort.

  72. rico says:

Just proves you can sign any player if the money is right emma, had we offered £30 million, Ozil would be somewhere else right now…

Pay the money, you get top class…

  73. tsgh says:

The Madrid fans and board can talk but Mesut was not appreciated at all… they preferred Di Maria to him. The RM board voted between Di Maria and Ozil and the later lost…

Is it due to Ozil not being marketable or just that he can appear lethargic at times?…

Note Bierhoff and Sammer have all slated Ozil for not caring in the past…

  74. rico says:

I doubt that Ts, both Jamies have already said what a fantastic signing he is and what a wonderful player he is…

    He isn’t a diver, it’s not the German way…

  75. Scott from Oz says:

    Oz, different situation, imo.
RVP spends 7 of 8 seasons in the medical room and suddenly the club lacks ambition?
That is why i hate the bastard.
He was happy collecting wages when the going was tough but suddenly we aren’t good enough?

  76. tsgh says:

Rico- I never said Ozil is a diver… all I am saying is people are cheesed off Ozil signed for us…

Jamie said yesterday on Sky that we did not need Ozil and that we should have swapped Fellaini for Ozil with United…

Do we think those guys including Greame will want Ozil to make us champions again?

Even Pers Morgan is complaining we did not need Ozil…

  77. stevepalmer1 says:

    Rico :).
We have who we have, and i dont think we are that bad, we have enouh players to give one another a rest and if i speak the truth there is no one i wouldnt play even Bendy. I agree that our new Marquee maynot fit in straight away not like Flamini anyway but he has the talent and we know that. Injuries are always a problem for us but i think we have enough to cover. We have to continue with our work rate, and should we i cant see any reason that we wont compete throughout the season. We have a tough group in CL but should we get through the next round we could go on and win it. I feel this year will be an all English afair and we can win against anybody on our day. Dont care about the other clubs as i feel were good enough to give anybody a hard time. This is the year that lower clubs in cup games will come off worse, i feel we have the talent no excuses. I expect a very good season. Was at the bottom then 12th and now 4th soon to be top and we will take some shaking.

  78. emma says:

Graham Hunter, the mug that said ozil never wanted to join arsenal that he was waiting for yanited to bid for him but yanited never turned up.
That mug was lying as it ended up that he rejected yanited and psg to join arsenal b/s of arsene

  79. rico says:

I didn’t suggested you suggested he is a diver Ts, Just that I don’t think the two Jamies will suggest he is, they won’t be given a reason too..

  80. ozgunner says:

classic response from a Euro reporter on whether Arsenal needed Ozil “there is not a team in the world that doesn’t need Ozil” how cool is that

  81. tsgh says:

Before Peeps start thinking I am not rating Ozil… they should go back and see my comments before we were even linked to him.

All I am trying to say is that even before the RM board voted to sell Ozil instead of Di Maria, Isco had taken his place in the team as the no.10…

Ozil was appreciated by players but the RM fans did not really care too much because there were times when he would go down and take what seemed like years to get up because he was untying his shoe laces or sorting out his head band.

Fans don’t care about stats until it suits their interest…

His departure from RM is comparable to Makele’s departure where only the players thought he was important but the board thought he was useless and sold him to Chelsea for £1M and bought Gravesen instead from Everton…

  82. emma says:

If I am a footballer seeing Ozil in my team I will give all to win. That’s what is going to happen to our players. Ozil is a catalyst for success. Everyone in the squad will step up a level or 2. Don’t be surprise seeing Walcott going thru a brickwall henceforth or Cazorla upping a gear. That’s what super quality signing does. Just like the fans are ecstatic so are our players. Can’t wait for the sunderland match away

  83. ozgunner says:

agree all the way emma, said the same thing after the signing. I think it will have a huge impact on all the lads, although i singled out Theo

  84. tsgh says:

I doubt even AW thought we would get Ozil.. and he took a pay cut too as he was on a salary of £150k approximation after tax. Even if we offered him 200k that won’t be enough…

The RM board messed up when they decided to oust Mesut instead of Di Maria who we had originally wanted even when the media thought it was Hig we were after…

  85. ktr7 says:

    YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!…turns out i wasn’t dreaming… 🙂 good read as always.

Still can’t believe we signed him. ..

  86. emma says:

Mesut Ozil’s father, Mustafa, gave an interview to Sky Sports News HD after his son signed for Arsenal. This is an extract from the interview:

Why did Mesut decide to join Arsenal?

Arsenal is a very big club. The club tried hard to sign Mesut and he has a great perspective there. Mesut wants to help club to bring in some silverware. We appreciate the interest of such a big coach like Arsène Wenger.

The fans will expect a lot of Mesut.

He can show his skills and help the club to win the Premier League or maybe an international title.

Is he happy to take new challenge?

He is proud to play for Arsenal and we are looking forward to London. Arsenal is his new club.

What role did Arsène Wenger play in Mesut’s decision?

He was one of the deciding persons to convince us. It’s also very helpful that he speaks German well. But that’s not all. He also told us about his plans with the team and especially with Mesut. He wants him to play a big role in midfield.

Arsène Wenger is well known for developing talent. Do you hope that Mesut can improve under him?

Of course, I do. Mesut is still not at his top level. I’m sure there is still 15 to 20 percent to get out of him and Mr Wenger will help him to do that.

Mesut will now go to the Premier League – which is very physical. How is he prepared for that?

You are right but I would not see it tougher than in Spain. La Liga teams do not play with less players and they also play twice every week. He is physically prepared for that.

Arsenal already have two German internationals in their squad. How much is he looking forward to playing with Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker?

He is very happy to play with both of them. But he also welcomes the rest of the squad. The transfer to Arsenal is the best thing he could do.

  87. tsgh says:

Emma- there is a bit of truth to what Hunter said though… Ozil’s dad wanted his son to join Yanited or Psg for obvious reasons.

Khedira said the deal was made on Friday, but it is surprising the deal was rubber stamped late Monday…

Rumours are that it was because Mustapha did not even bother meeting IG in Madrid on Sunday evening as planned; he was instead in Paris…

When AW said to the BBC he had to go after the win on Sunday… he was actually catching a plane to Paris allegedly…

  88. BrainwashedKev says:

hI suppose, that if Wenger had shown his hand too early, that it’s likely tnat one of the petrodollar clubs could have gazzumped him.

As it was it seems that 3 or 4 tried to scupper Arsenal’s bid, even in the 48 hours up to the closure of the window…

By leaving it so late, it didn’t allow Madrid or Ozil’s representatives enough time to hawk him around.

So as frustrating as it is for us fans, that might partially explain Wenger’s habit of doing deals so late in the window.

  89. emma says:

ts – Thought the deal has fallen through as we had to wait till10:30pm when it was announced.

Does Arsene rate Thomas Eisfeld? Not in the first team squad and now CL squad

  90. rico says:

So you all agree with my post, signing Ozil is better than a slab of Cookeen 🙂

Hi Kev, Lee – now that would be funny at Real if he struggled…

  91. ktr7 says:

I’ve seen some fans say that Oezil isn’t what we need…I disagree.

Since the window opened i’ve maintained that we needed a no.10.this is because last season we really struggled to create chances like when we had fabregas.we had no one who could cause havoc with his movement between the midfield and defence to help us create chances.Santi prefers the ball be at his feet and not into space and so when a DM marked him out of the game we struggled.

When we were 1st linked to higuain i said he wasn’t the solution unless he was accompanied by a no.10.We saw Wenger instead go for Suarez because even without a proper no.10 he has the creativity of one while still scoring goals.Liverpool held firm and we went for Benzema who has the same creative characteristics.

When both failed we went for di maria who i believe wenger had every intention to play him as our no.10.he has the qualities to play there but how lucky we were that Oezil was available.I bet Wenger couldn’t believe his luck.

With Oezil available we’ll create many more chances.remember how fabregas would create about 8 chances a match by himself;Oezil will bring that to the table.last season in our run in we barely created 4 chances in 90 minutes.he is the solution.

The media in England adore the mata/silva/santi contigent…Oezil is on a whole new level to ALL of them.

  92. rico says:

The FA new boss is moaning about lack of English players in the PL.

For once, that kind of comment doesn’t apply to us…

    Jack
    Jenks
    Theo
    Ox
    Gibbs

    With

    Aneke
    Afobe
    Akpom

    all coming through……

  93. HenryB says:

Hi Rico, loved the Post, but what’s cookeen?

What makes the signing of Mosut even better is that Levy tried to get Madrid to renege on the deal, and failed.
The Spuds also wanted Ozil but were refused, as were Manure when they came calling; and all the Madrid players are spitting bullets because he was sold.

So many noses put out of joint – excellent – and ……….. we got him!

  94. rico says:

Hi Hb, thank you – it’s a cooking fat here in the Uk, not sure if it still exists, but when I was a kid, there was an advert for it, suggestion was Cookeen was the best fat to use for puff pastry as it would rise very well..

    Hope that makes sense…

  95. Adam says:

I really think that Ozil needs to be made a saint, possibly deified. Before he has even kicked a ball for us I know he is the best player ever to play for Arsenal. I am so excited that I had to go outside and lick the pavement. Nothing can stop us now. Why don’t we give every team a four goal start and then select only Cazorla, Rosicky and Ozil. Who really needs a central striker when you have Ozil?

  96. Judge me in May says:

    Good afternoon,
Ozil top top and special signing….
Bigger than Bale’s in footballing term..
Interesting to see who is going to take the free kicks for RM.. Ronaldo is pissing himself already…
I as many sceptical gooners willing to give wenger the benefit of the doubt despite not signing a striker this window..
Maybe wenger does have a plan..
He got rid of a lot of duds already..
I would rather go the Barcelona way if Giroud can’t play than see that idiot NB52 leading the line…
I will be watching Germany internationals with passion for a change..
    Have a great day..

  97. emma says:

Diaby is not in CL squad. I guess this is his last season. We should let him go when his contract expires at the end of the season

  98. rico says:

    You old cynic Adam 😉

Judge, not sure I can forgive him for not signing a striker. As oz said earlier, how can we go from trying to get Suarez to getting no-one.

Has to be Theo moving central when needed surely…

  99. Adam says:

Me Rico? Not at all. I am just very, very excited and may have taken temporary leave of my senses. Let’s face it, I am not alone am I?
Does a coiled spring not expand after compression? 🙂

  100. ktr7 says:

    Slow down Adam 🙂
rico there are some fans saying he wasn’t needed.against spurs if he were available theo would’ve scored a hattrick.am disappointed that we couldn’t get a ST and a defender in but how can anyone moan about us signing Oezil?…

  101. ktr7 says:

Ramos: “He is the king of the assist. I
know Santi Cazorla well and together they
will be an enormous spectacle. But I will
    miss him.” #Ö

  102. ktr7 says:

Cristiano Ronaldo on Mesut Özil’s sale:
“This is very bad news for me. He knew
my moves infront of goal. I’m angry about
    him leaving.” #RMCF

  103. Adam says:

The transfer window, with the exception of whatever his name is, was a disaster really. What was happening in terms of a central striker for the past 100 days? Don’t tell me Ba was the target all along and there was no contingency.
What’s that noise I can hear? I believe it is the sound of someone fast approaching HH with their blinkers on to tell me how grateful I should be or perhaps that I should go and support Man City or Chelski (sic). Yeah, right.
A great signing, we hope, but an even greater opportunity lost perhaps.
Nobody is moaning about us signing Ozil. Honestly. Nobody.

  104. rico says:

The German reporter for SS’s is on again, he is so so funny, he reckons Ozil’s only weakness is the physical side..

    He says’

Veel he zoon must getz uzed to zit it zee premier league, ha ha’..

    🙂

  105. rico says:

I haven’t read such comments to be fair Kt.. But i am really disappointed we didn’t show a lot more ambition…

  106. Karl says:

When all the players are fit the only way Santi plays is wide left with Ozil behind Giroud. Against astute opponents (Bayern at the Emirates) this becomes a liability. Wenger has never won a European trophy because he’s tactically weak, and now with his total arrogance nobody can advice to correct errors. No winning coach would play Arshavin as an orthodox winner, and when clearly its not working and the player is losing confidence, you continue with the policy, that’s damming. It was the same with bringing on Bendtner as a sub and playing him out wide right, it did not work but Wenger kept doing it. His relationship with Bould is a very cold one and reveals a lot about what ex-players know but are unwilling to say in public. Remember we’re by far the biggest club in London, in one of the biggest cities in the world, yet we’re reduced to celebrating fourth spot and blinded by one major signing. When fans see Flamini’s combative cameo against the Spuds it reveals the major flaw in Wenger’s post-Invincible strategy, the lack of aggression and character. Don’t get fooled again!

  107. Gtid says:

I am wondering if we had signed Fabregas instead, would the haterz still be moaning we don’t need him??
He’s everything we need, we just need our forwards to be consistent, Theo especially.

  108. Adam says:

Yes Rico. It is one of the great claims in English footballing folklore. The PL is so fast and so physical. The Spanish league, on the other hand, is slower but more technical. The German league is also slow but zey play mit efficiency. The Italian league is very slow too, but they are all over 40, never pay tax and obsessed with backhanders.

  109. rico says:

Karl, that is a very good comment. Totally echoes my own view.

Even after the NLD victory, Bould didn’t smile when AW shook his hand..

  110. ktr7 says:

I wish diaby the best emma.he would give us a totally new dimension in midfield.even Rvp had his break from injuries;diaby will too.

  111. tsgh says:

Arsenal’s CL squad up to the winter…

Emma- I doubt DIaby’s omission has anything to do with him leaving. It is because he won’t be playing before December as he comes back from injury late October. He may be included after christmas if fit.

In Eisfield case he does not qualify for list A and because he has not been with us for 3 years and is not homegrown he does not qualify for list B.

Zelalem is included because he is under 17.

  112. Adam says:

Rico. I think that was because Bould was getting up to shake the hand of that weird little man AVB and smiling after a win is considered bad form. I noticed Wenger lost his smile too as she shook the little creep’s sweaty hand.
I also believe that SB is known as something of a miserable git too.

  113. rico says:

Talking of tatooes, there was a true story told about a serviceman or athlete, I can’t recall – the guy had to have is leg amputated at the knee after suffering an injury.

After the op, the consultant said there is good and bad news, which do you want first.

    He said the good:

The consultant said, we have had to amputate you leg at the knee but have fitted you with a false leg etc and everything will be fine.

    And the bad he asked:

‘ You are a liverpool supporter and some your tattoo of ‘You’ll never walk alone’ had to go.

He was left with ‘You’ll never walk’………

  114. rico says:

There are no Ozil haters on here folks, so if that kint of comment is left elsewhere, it might be better to leave the comments arguing the point, where they are written….

  115. rico says:

Ah, I stand corrected then Adam..

I wouldn’t smile if I was about to shake the hand of anyone to do with that club…

  116. Adam says:

I am not saying it’s true Rico. Merely an alternative view.
If Bould really detested Wenger that much and/ or vice versa he has had plenty of opportunity to leave after all.

  117. BrainwashedKev says:

Cheers Adam, I knew that I could rely on you and Lee…

Lars on the left and Sven on the right…

    Ok, tea up… 😉

  118. rico says:

I would have thought that if they detested each other, either Bould wouldn’t have been appointed or Bould wouldn’t have accepted the post but they do look miserable together sat on their seats…

Maybe if they smiled a bit more when we are winning it would stop fans like me thinking their is a bit of friction between the two of them…

Maybe one of the staff need to pop a balloon like Phelan (spelling) did, that would wake them all up…

  119. tsgh says:

Karl- ‘No winning coach would play Arshavin as an orthodox winner’; I am sure you meant winger but to answer your point, I have one question for you. Where did or does Capello, Advocaat, Semin and Huddink play AA23?

Advocaat play him as a winger at both club and national level…

If you are going to slate someone please have your fact right. 😉

  120. stevepalmer1 says:

Of course your not Moaning Adam, nothing to moan about. were higher up the table than we were this time last year, and of course you must be overwhelmed with our marquee signing. Sanogo who has shown one or two touches of brilliance and flamini bites your leg is back looking tougher and has rolled his sleeves up for the good of Arsenal. Wenger with things under control. Beating the filth and already in our finishing position after 3 games. of course you have nothing to moan about 🙂 And of course Diaby biting at the bit to get back.

  121. Adam says:

Steve. I must confess I missed Sanogo’s touches of brilliance. Perhaps you will remind me of them. 🙂
Actually I am moaning a bit, that we didn’t make full use of the transfer window. But moaning and blind positivity are two sides of an old coin and familiar bedfellows.
Rico. Perhaps Arsene and Bould could perfect a short slapstick comedy routine, possibly involving a Stickleback in a jar, to let us all know that things are good between them?

From that list only Drogba, Essien, Ashley Cole, Deco,Carvalho, Maloouda, Robben and Ballack contributed to his success. Almost all the rest failed. That is 15 out of 24 failing with Roman still chasing Mutu for his money…

AW bought Park, Santos, Ox, MA08, BFG 2 summers ago and people say he is a bad manager. From that list even Santos who a lot of people diss paid us back with his goal at WBA to take us into the CL 2 seasons ago… 2 of his 3 goals were winning goals for us…

  123. ktr7 says:

Apparently Rvp is pissed with Moyesy 🙂 i know he has a PL title but right now he must be envious of Giroud…Oezil theo santi as your supply line is as good as it gets anywhere in Europe.

I’d love it if Moyesy would play Fellaini behind Rvp as his AM 🙂

  124. tsgh says:

Exactly Kt- AA23 has always been a luxury player. Even AW told the media before he was bought that AA23’s on field body language and work ethic will disappoint fans.

Peeps may have short memeory but when AA23 was bought there was as much euphoria about him as Ozil… Then he was a proper saviour for 6 months and paid us back by taking us into the CL almost by himself…

  125. tsgh says:

Mariner said on Talksports yesterday molrning that he was always puzzled when pundits said MF was a DM… lol

He asked the same question you asked kt about where Moyes plans to play MF. lol

  126. ktr7 says:

ts i’d like to engage you on a tactical issue.is it just me but do we even play 4-2-3-1 anymore?…because when i rewatched the spurs game it looked more like a 4-2-2-2/4-4-2 diamond to me.Giroud and theo were outlets with theo stretching the right side.santi/rosicky/jack/ramsey formed a sort of diamond shape playing passes between themselves with Giroud/theo making runs as outlets.Gibbs provided width to the left while jenkinson was more conservative on the right.

When we lost the ball we lined up in 2 banks of four keeping it tight between the lines.

just look at our 1st goal against spurs to see what i mean.

  127. tsgh says:

AA23 played as a no.10 in the 2 CoC he was involved in…

In the 2nd game against Reading, he gave away 2 passes that led to goals…

He the 2nd half AW brought on Eisfield and OG12 and moved AA23 wide and played Chamakh behind OG12 and we managed to win the game…

AA23 best no.10 game was against Coventry at the Erms…

  128. Adam says:

Wasn’t he the footballing postman Rico?
I was sitting very close to him after he came on against the Turks last week. At one point I witnessed him flip the ball up tap it in the air twice then, to the crowd’s astonishment, lob it beautifully to a waiting Turk. Surely, if we had done proper business, he would be on loan by now.

  129. tsgh says:

Kt- without offending rico… I will re-watch the game and comment another time…

But what I have noticed since the AV defeat is that when we have the ball our pivots go wide apart almost as if we are playing 3-5-2 and then we push one of our full backs up field with our lLW ie Poldi or SC19 moving into the CAM position. The CAM ie SC19 against fulham and TR07 against Fulham in the first 40 minute go wide; we are then able to move the ball either over the top with OG12 on the lhs or on the ground through the middle.

I also noted we are only attacking with only 1 fullback at a time too; actually since last March thereby making us a bit more less prone to counterattack…

At the moment we are playing like Conte’s team. Even this season Pirlo is not sitting in the form Arteta or Pirlo did last season.

In Juve’s case it is because Marchisio is injured and Podga is playing more in the CAM role…

  130. c2hills says:

    Afternoon rico and all.

Apparently we have signed a periscope…hi Adam.

Should it be My Precious or Avatar eyes?

  131. Woody says:

    Afternoon all!

I’m sooo blogged out after all the power clicking during the last few weeks of the transfer window and I think my finger, eyes and head needs a rest now.

Interesting post today – I am with Scott from Oz and never stopped believing in Wenger (yes I’ve been called all names under the sun), but I don’t think we’re out of the wood yet, there is definitely a long way to go but it’s a good start.

I truly believe that if all squads in the premiership were the same then Wenger would win the league. I have no doubt and have said many times before that if Mourinho, or any others in this leagues had the same squad Wenger has had for the last few years then they wouldn’t get CL every year.

I do think that this is the start of a new era for Arsenal, we’re now coming out of the huge financial constraints our new home has put us under and let me tell you one thing…

If Liverpool and Spuds have to go through the same thing, people will be lauding Wenger as a genius again, because we got most of the tough years out of the way before others were awake to what was going on.

Now the Prem is so competitive that if we had to start our stadium plans now then we would probably lose out on CL qualification.

We’re not guaranteed it this year, but I do believe that Wenger will be signing more players on January. He got stitched up by Mourinho for Ba and that shows how much of a threat he sees us as, given that it was only last week when he was sayiing that it’s stupid not to sell to a rival – they do it all the time in Italy.

So when he wants Rooney thats the case, but if we want Ba (who isn’t even top top quality) then he changes his mind.

He really is starting to earn the nickname Moan-rinho.

  132. ktr7 says:

Exactly ts.when one FB pushes up we have 3 men at the back while still maintaining a 4 man midfield in the centre of the pitch.

Against spurs Gibbs mainly pushed up since spurs were sucked in by our diamond to create that space for our runners in Gibbs/Giroud/theo.we did this so well against spurs to release them.if passes had been better theo would’ve been in several times.Oezil will really improve us in that respect.

  133. Woody says:

Afternoon tsgh – he is such a contradiction that guy.

First he moans about Paul Lambert appealing against all decisions (he remembers when he did the same as a young manager), then a week later he does exactly that at Old Trafford.

Then he says you should sell to a rival, then he blocks a move for Ba!?!?!?!?!

The special one really does have special memory loss problem during the early weeks of his second term…

  134. ktr7 says:

There is nothing more satisfying that we were able to buy Oezil with our own cash…it makes it even better to hear the dismay among madrid fans and players with the sale along with voices of jealousy from our rivals.no one thought wenger would spend such an amount to get ‘super quality’.

  135. tsgh says:

:o) Special memory loss problems indeed.

Wooney’s tapping up is another example. One minute he is not going to talk about a player owned by another club the next minute he is telling the Wooney to make his mind up…

  136. Karl says:

This Arshavin case is interesting, yes when these coaches play Arshavin wide he is a playmaker like Zidane, they dont chase back, so two holding midfielders are deployed. Can you imagine Zidane playing as a conventional winger in the PL. Arshavin was destroyed by Wenger through a mixture tactical incompetence and wilful stubbornness. Therefore, Wenger should have played with holding midfielders or played Arshavin behind the striker. Bould does not detest Wenger, it’s probably more about anger and frustration with things happpeing behind the scenes, Primorac is too influential and young players are too indulged, to cite two examples.

  137. tsgh says:

Hi Micko, you do not want to check on your buddy Diaby?

Karl- comparing AA23 to Zidane is like comparing Adebawhore to Henry.

AA23 covers an average of less than 6.2 km per game whilst Zidane use to cover 9.8km on average…

There is a case that may be AA23 should have been used as a no.10 but we had CF04 as the no.10 who imho was far more superior.

How do we know that AA23 was tried in training as a no.10 and failed.

AA23 was a s a matter of fact played as a false 9 for several months before RVP came back in 2010.

In theory Clichy was very fit and experienced to handle AA23’s lacklustre off the ball contribution and in most cases players like AA23 who are deemed to lack stamina have always been played on the wings. Overmars and Robben were originally no.10 but were turned to wingers/forwards in this league…

I think it is a huge misconception that if a player is not good defensively you play him up front…

In the last 10 or so years strikers like Koller, Et, Drogba, Di Natale and even Messi have ensured teams defend from the front.

OG12 and Lew all defend from the front. Strikers who do not work hard defensively like Torres get found out very quickly.

  138. Woody says:

Just LOVED this comment from Sergio Garcia about Real buying Bale and selling Ozil:

Sergio Garcia (golfer): “How could they have let this happen – paying £100m to sign someone to replace Özil from a club nobody’s heard of? They are crackers in the head.”

A club nobody’s heard of…seems like the Spuds are none too popular in Europe either!

  139. stevepalmer1 says:

Arshavin, was a great footballer and probably still is. If you are a talented footballer you can use your skills in any position. Bale was a left back but with his talent he pushed the transfer limits to their heights. But Bale wanted to work hard he defended when he needed to and he showed flair when he was allowed, he got what he worked for where Arshavin being lazy overweight and unfit got what he deserved he got sold. Anybody can moan about what position the manager plays him but after all you are on 80 grand a week, and if that is not an incentive to try and keep yourself fit then good riddance.

  140. ktr7 says:

I was just about to post that woody 🙂 🙂
I also think we’ll do much better this season than everyone expects.we can still keep possession as well as the best AW teams but in addition we can sit deep and counter attack something the 07/08 team couldn’t.we have the right mix in personell to do both.we have also shown a variety of play in midfield like against fulham.barring anymore injuries we’ll be up there in january where we’ll have a chance to fill the few gaps in the squad.

  141. emma says:

Has anyone seen Rooney nasty ‘Horror’ injury inflicted by Phil Jones. I just lost my appetite for lunch. Can’t post the twitter feed as it may offend some. Not for the faint heart

  142. ktr7 says:

Me too Mg.we have been a laughing stock for far too long…

am also curious what Wenger said to Oezil because I imagine he must’ve gone into details of his football vision with him as the centrepiece.for Oezil to snub PSG Wenger must really have impressed Oezil.it also helps le boss speaks fluent German.

  143. tsgh says:

AA23 was not unfit.. he was just comfort eating with his track suit wearing Mrs. 😀
You sexist… haven’t you heard some mean put on weight when their wifes are expecting a child? 😛

Life was so bad for him that he ended up cheating on his Mrs when he could have been running… ha ha ha

  144. NashuaGunners says:

Good Afternoon Rico; Good Afternoon Everybody.

Clandestine AW did it again. Just when we thought LS, Di Maria, etc, etc, he said wait a minute, I’ve more ambition than those names being thrown around. Ozil Ozil Ozil.

    I’m still smiling.

Spuds spent like crazy during this T.W., yet still we’re able to beat them. That’s the cake. And to top it all, we got a superb signing (which they tried so hard to deny) and that was the icing on the cake.

A bit disappointed though… I was hoping the least signing would be two. Flamini is free and does not count.

  145. tsgh says:

    Hiya Ng…

I can’t wait to see Ozil start against OM in the CL…

I doubt Ozil will start at Sunderland… I won’t want him to anyways… Di Canio is a brute who will be happy to have one of his thugs break Ozils legs..

Saying that Sunderland have O’shae suspended and Sessagnon gone too…

  146. Karl says:

Let me clarify, Arshavin and Zidane compare in terms of position not skill level. Fergie was interested in the young Zidane and said he did’nt sign him because he could’nt work out where to play him. Two points here, Fergie set up his teams with conventional wingers, and playmakers from a wide position is very much a continental concept. The closest we’ve had to this is Pires, but he played with Petit, Paddy or Gilberto in the team. I believe Wenger’s football judgement has sadly deteriorated and he is far too arrogant and stubborn to change.

  147. NashuaGunners says:

Hi tsgh, any latest on ArsenalFanTV?

The night you said Ozil, I was up all night checking all website including Al Jazaara but to no avail. Never thought this would happened during AW tenor.

  148. tsgh says:

Ng, exactly re Ozil. Even twitter did not have the news when I mentioned Ozil being done… how did I know that we would sign him? 😀

I would love to say it here but that will be a breach of trust.

But Al-Jazeera initially confirmed it but as I said on Monday morning the Betting companies including Sky bet probably under orders from RM and Ozil’s reps pulled it.

  149. emma says:

ts – Same. I think it’s going to be a Cameo performance in sunderland and will be unleashed v marseille. Would love to see Rosicky and Ramsey on the pivot

  150. malaga gooner says:

i dont know what the figure is but the price of OZIL is not just about 42.5mill,by the time you put agent fees, sign on bonus, and taxs it is way over 50 mill.this is a huge statement of intent in the football world.
it shows we are now in the market for a better class of player

  151. tsgh says:

    Fair enough Karl…

Are you related to Aa23 btw? 🙂

To me AA was an example of a real life example of the parable of the talents in the Bible…

AW had/has talent but even in the Euros in 2012; AA23 will have a 15 minute patch of world class display and give the ball away the rest of the game…

Only AW will persist with him for that amount of time imho…

Saying Zidane is similar to AA23 is imho very wrong…

Yes Zidane was even going to be sold to NUFC because at time in his early 20’s he was like a headless chicken. He undoubtedly had skills but he was like Ronaldo in his first 2 season’s at United all step-over and no end product…

Messi was similar and was nearly sent on loan to Hearts in Scotland until Rijkaard changed his position and the Barca teams tactics to accommodate Messi in 2006…

Ronaldo was played on the wings not because he was initially a winger but because he could be less of a problem to the team… he is now a super WC player.

Isco started off as a winger too and is now a no.10.

Ozil started as awinger and is now a no.10

DB10 started of as a winger and moved to no.10

I can give you a million examples of such occurrences.

  152. rico says:

Karl – he’s changed in one respect, he has just rubber stamped signing a world class player and that’s something he’s not done before.

Would it not be best to wait and see how the next few games pan out before we comment further on how our season is looking.

We had a shocker against Villa, we have improved since then and last Sunday was the best this side has played as a unit in a long long while.

Yes, I wanted a striker and a DM at least but it didn’t happen and for now, I want to get behind the team I love and support and see what happens when we face Sunderland…

  153. agirlagunner says:

    Hiya, Karl, malaga. 🙂

ginge, I am as thrilled as anyone about bringing Ozil on board, but I must be honest, I’ve been laughing about the “tribute” tweets of his former teammates which have seemed eulogic, as in Sergio Ramos’ or just plain petulant like Ronaldo’s statement.

And now, this Carlin fella (don’t know him) is channeling Pablo Neruda verses with embarrassingly effusive declarations like “He is a beautiful flower who is a bit frail…”

    What on earth???

  154. NashuaGunners says:

Karl said “I believe Wenger’s football judgement has sadly deteriorated and he is far too arrogant and stubborn to change.”

Let us not pass judgement too soon. People change and as Rico said “in one respect” he has made the biggest signing in his career. He has got rid of those deem unfit. Let us keep our fingers cross, wait and see what happens in May. Only God and fools do not change. AW is no fool.

  155. Judge me in May says:

The thing is, if the thugs from Stoke did a number on Ozil then we are fooked and back to square one…

  156. ktr7 says:

Stoke will have to get near him 1st judge 🙂
also i’ve not seen anyone say this but Oezil has a wicked free kick on him.its a shame Ronaldo took them all at Madrid.

  157. Wavy says:

Will Ozil win Wenger the EPL? He might, you know, he just might. Was this his equivalent of selling the grey badger to manure?

  158. ktr7 says:

    Jeremy Wilson @JWTelegraph 18h
Surprised some MU fans prefer to think Moyes
simply rates Fellaini above Özil, rather than club
    tried and failed on Özil

  159. S2S says:

Tell me something, why are spurs so annoying and hateful? I stumbled on to someone’s twitter feed and good lord, not sporting at all. Spiteful people.

For a sporting community many of them are really Piers Morgan.

  160. S2S says:

    @Kt,

I think there’re two sets of supporters, one who think since they follow a club it can’t do any wrong and it is the greatest in the world and most of that bunch follow Man U. All over the world. And most from same group of people have only one thing to proud about that is following Man U and they’ve done jack in their lives.

As an Arsenal fan i get laughed on many of times here cause I support a club that hasn’t won nothing for 8 years. For some reasons it doesn’t bother me. I have had same testing times in my personal life. Costly studies, limited money having to break up cause you can’t afford to get married, living in penny pinching style while watching friends having fun with parent;s money et al.. So I find my life philosophy and philosophy of AFC quite similar. To make the best with what you’ve got and I’m getting there so is club. Hopefully I can also make grade with AFC.

    Cheers,

  161. tsgh says:

Hiya, Agag, I had to leave the office for home earlier…

As I mentioned earlier the current crop of Madridstas can moan all they want but like Makele 10 years ago, none of them told the manager or the board how important Ozil was…

Makelele was on about a third of Zidane’s salary but didn’t acll for a pay increment for his compatriot…

  162. Joywedsjeff says:

Hi fellows. I am still in shock. When Le prof said we might surprise you i said to my self here comes Di Maria. Ozil is a statement of intent going forward imho. I see folks all over twitter saying he is not what we need but like i’ve been reading here since morning he is exactly what we need. No need to attack in numbers since he can pass a ball through the eyes of a needle something no other player can do at the club. He also has a sweet free kick in him from the right side of play…. And more importantly theo can stop taking free kicks and concentrate on winning them.

  163. Joywedsjeff says:

Hi ts you’ve kept me entertained throughout the summer. I couldn’t bring myself to comment but read throughout the day. We agree on so many things but also disagree on many others. You really are a football man. Are you Wenger in disguise?

  164. ktr7 says:

Just seen this somewhere else .. .
You don’t want Özil thinking “what the **** have
I got to aim at?”. If I ever see Özil playing behind
Bendtner, I’ll cry tears of blood.
    🙂 🙂 🙂

  165. Keith says:

Nice post S2S, Great observation about Man U fans,,,,for a lot of these fans Man U is the only success in their otherwise sad and empty lives, I dont understand the hatred (by some) in football, its a sad reflection of the individual. I like your perspective on being an AFC fan…..Its only the insecure that feel the need to be better than others…and than brag about it!

  166. tsgh says:

Hiya,Joy, long time… hope you are well?

I love me a HH debate. lol

In actual fact I loathe the idea that I love football but, there is nothing better than skiving off at work F5ing to see who we have signed or not signed. 🙂

At least I know follow only 3 teams and not 7 like before…

  167. Joaquim Moreira says:

I can’t understant why we weren’t linked with other CF diferente from Ba. The result was previsibility…

  168. Joywedsjeff says:

Ts, perfectly well bro…., been wanting to ask your opinion about Burak Yilmaz. His move to Lazio broke down. He has good numbers but is clearly not rated by top managers. Why?

  169. tsgh says:

WATH brought him to my attention to be honest about his latest figures.

I didn’t pay much attention to him even in the CL because he was one of those guys who had been around for a while but was a bit of a late bloomer and not pretty on the eye..

I haven’t seen enough of him to make an honest comment but for the £9M fee I think AW should have tried with him considering AW wanted the 35 y.o Di Natale (who I rate highly btw).

  170. arsenal11730 says:

Rico once again good write up – Clear and objective.
I am happy to see you bullish again.
The majority of Gooner Land are ecstatic and im flying.
The last time i was this pumped ,was CL 2006 Final Paris.
I am chuffed to read the personal comments of RM players, Cesc, Low, Bierhoff and Mourinho.
AW has signed a Class Act for a Class Club.
Lets turn this excitement into a packed Emirates and cheer this team to glory.
Scez got kicked in the bottom and will be forced to perform.
NB cannot believe he has another chance and will lessen his ego to perform admirably when called upon.
TR, Santi, JW, AR16 and obviously Ozil11 will supply the line for OG and TW to score an increased amount of goals.
Nobody can replicate the feeling that Henry gave us with the ball at his feet – Anything was possible with him.
However Ozil has made GoonerLand smile again.
    Lets deliver the goods now.

    Cheers

  171. Adam says:

Surely most fans love their club so it is wrong, to me, to single out Man Utd supporters as being somehow less worthy. I also believe it to be disrespectful. When you are as successful as Man Utd have been then a degree of arrogance is quite natural an there will always be the glory hunters. I have sat next to enough of them at Highbury during Wenger’s early years.
What we feel for our clubs we have in our heart. Being a local person Arsenal were always on my doorstep. I played football in the shadow of Highbury all through my school years. But I know people who grew up close to many grounds all over the country and they feel quite similar.
What the blog world has done is to allow fans from all over the world a degree of inclusiveness that didn’t exist before.

  172. Micko says:

Many but not all oversea’s fans will always see it differently from supporters that have been going down Arsenal for most of their adult lives, that’s just the way it is, if that means I get a tirade of abuse, then bring it on, I can live with it.

Joywedsjeff, I’ve been trying to bump off tsgh all summer, but if i’m honest he kinda grown on me, has his tantrums at times but rico has his number.

  173. arsenal11730 says:

S2S – Super point and life perspective – Fair play to you.
I have been a Gooner for 3 decades and remember Gus Ceasar, Willie Young and Walsall amongst other forgetful nights on the North Bank at Highbury. Surely, 8 years were painful, but i have gone longer spells without glory. The main key to me is competitive. As long as team play for the crest with their hearts left on the pitch.
I will NEVER complain at a loss.

  174. Micko says:

arsenal11730, a gooner for the last 3 decades just like myself, fair play to ya, but please remind me about these longer spells without glory, i’m struggling, got a good memory but it’s short !
Over the last few years we’ve stopped being competitive, hopefully that’s about to change for the better.

  175. BrainwashedKev says:

    Dentist 1-0 Rico… Night Rico… 😉

We are gonna read page after page of crap and listen to hour after hour of rubbish on the TV/radio…

That’s because of the Interlull, ie nothing happening on Planet Premier League.

I could not give a ready rub what the Scummers or Mancs think or Tweet re: Ozil… We’ve got him, they haven’t, feck them all…

The Press/Media, will put their worthless spin on the Ozil transfer for most of the rest of this season.

It’s what they do. Just ignore it. They’re all cnuts anyway.

Twitter is full of knobheads and wind-up merchants.

The advertising generated blogs like Bleachers (never read it) Here in the City (never read it) Caught Offside (never read it) Goal (never read it) & a host of others, just re-publish news they have lifted from other sites.

Talk Shite speaks for itself, both the radio and it’s blog (never listen to it, never read it)

At the end of the day, you have to be selective about what you read and what you listen to, otherwise you’ll end up in a loony asylum…

I read a few of the newspaper blogs and the bona-fide Arsenal/football blogs. The rest can do one….

Ignore the crap, tolerate the Internationals and we’ll soon be back to the proper football…

  176. rico says:

As you know, I had a filling yesterday and I may have mentioned before that my dentist is a Chelsea fan – his son, an Arsenal fan.

As always, we chatted about football a little, especially yesterday as he has to wait for that darn jab to numb my gum. It actually numbed the entire left hand side of my face, but that’s another story.

One thing he said was how when Arsenal play, he always wants us to win, yet his son, when Chelsea play, he always wants them to lose.

He suggests we are a very unsupporting, if there is a word, bunch of fans and like to give it but can’t take it.

This was of course after we talked about their Super Cup defeat.

Some of us, I know I do, moan about AW and believe that Jose could do a better job but from what my dentist said, not all Chelsea fans are happy with their manager and the way he sets him team up.

He in particular is not happy that Lukaku has gone out on loan and he’s very surprised that we didn’t sign a DM, Striker and a CB.. In fact he reckons had we done so, we’d win the PL with ease…

  177. rico says:

Morning Kev, more like 3-0, that injection was a big ouch!

Twitter and the social media has gone mad and it’s taking over the world…

Since Ozil, it’s taking over here too, hopefully it will calm down as the Ozil euphoria dies down a bit.

Like you, I am overly fussed what other clubs tried or didn’t try to do, not any more, as you say, he’s ours not theirs so move on.

I read one or two other sites, one for a laugh and the other is LG. The rest, well they spread more recycled gossip than I do here on HH, and that takes some beating…. 😉

  178. Scott from Ozil says:

Rico, you are the gossip queen 🙂
Nah, who cares what the other clubs or sites are doing.
    We are Arsenal.
    We are Highbury House.
We are class….well, some of us are 🙂

  179. Adam says:

Morning Rico. I have a friend who has been a Chelsea ST holder forever. His club were always just hovering about and were close to extinction until Abramovich bought them and pumped them so full of cash that the combination of financial lunacy and Mourinho’s turgid, grinding style lead them to a lot of success. He loved it of course and in his position, most of us would. The moral arguments where their success was concerned and the fact that they bought the title did not interest him. He became a bit triumphalist and rather irritating and our failures were reflected in their successes. Of course, after Mourinho left, he and most of their fans pointed out that yes, it had been boring and like Abramovich, they wanted a more interesting and beautiful style of football. I remember talking to him during the dark days early last season when I wondered what Mourinho would be like at Arsenal after Wenger. He warned against the dire, boring, negative football and doubted the Arsenal fans would enjoy winning by a single goal that way. He was glad Mourinho had gone.
As soon as the diminutive one was named as the new Chelsea boss he was ecstatic. To some extent, all football fans are hypocrites.

  180. Scott from Ozil says:

    Adam, success is blinding.
We have a few League players in different types of trouble at present..knuckle dragging arseholes, if you ask me.
Anyway, the League bends over backwards to help.
A no namer gets into trouble, and he is crucified.
    Same type of thing.

  181. rico says:

I am Scott, but at least mine only comes from the newspapers, I do try not to just repeat what other sites have made up 😉

  182. Scott from Ozil says:

I missed it Adam, as i was barely on the last few nights so spent a bit of time reading back today 🙂
Rico, it is often said, but we are constantly amazed at how fresh and different you manage to keep things…especially during the off season.

  183. rico says:

    Morning Adam,

That’s a funny tale, I think self preservation takes over sometimes. I had a similar thing with my Spurs supporting neighbour. He really didn’t like Harry becoming manager but after the 4-4, he loved him. Then when he was sacked he was so happy…

Then, AVB was wrong in his eyes, clearly judged by what happened at Chelsea. I haven’t seen him of late to talk to but I bet after the spending, he’s quite happy…

I actually quite like AVB, in time I think he’ll be a very good manager, that may not please some, but I don’t give a toot…

  184. rico says:

Thanks Scott, very kind of you…

I see the BBC have finally told Hanson that his days are over and he is to depart after the WC. Good news of course as like most, I find him quite annoying.

    Whilst on that topic.

I often wonder why, when reading the comments about the pundits, they are given so much abuse by so many, me included.

The other night I was sat having a moment and was thinking are supporters of football clubs any better than they are?

Because their view isn’t often very pleasant on the ear, they receive all sorts of abuse when they suggest who we should sign and where AW went wrong, or where players have got it wrong.

Yet, fans then do the same, either to argue their point or just to try and suggest these pundits haven’t got a clue about what they talk about.

Then there is the comment ‘if they know so much why aren’t they managers’

But in reality, they have to know more about the game than most fans as most pundits have played football at a very very high level.

However, most fans haven’t, nor have they worked towards getting a football coaching badge etc etc… (devil excluded)

Yet still those same fans think they know all there is to know and comment on forums such as this, suggesting they do…

Funny old world, the internet and being a football fan

  185. Adam says:

Of course Football feeds social media and the Internet is a powerful tool for communication. I do not partake in Twitter or Facebook at all so my football chatter is done in person, on the phone or on HH. I read an article yesterday about Graham Hunter, the Scottish football writer ( I would not bestow the title “Journalist” upon him). Apparently he had come up with a piece that suggested Ozil hung on until the last minute for Man Utd to come in for him. Piecing what we do know together, this seems unlikely. But, anyway, it got me thinking about the opportunities that social media offers and that most of the transfer predictions and “facts” spouted by oafs like Hunter, Ballague and their ilk are really about them and not their predictions. In effect I see them and most other sites as leeches, sucking a living from the game, in Hunter’s case, eating and drinking himself to death from self-loathing, while doing so. When I watch Wenger’s Pre Spurs press conference and see him asked about their plethora of new signings, then listen to his sensible comment about the dangers of bringing in too many new players I am not surprised at the way it is handled by the majority of commentators. As soon as I read “Arsene warns” or Arsene criticises or ridicules Spurs new signings, I turn off because I know the piece that follows will be a stupid wind-up.
There is an interesting discussion to be had here, but perhaps the Internet is not the place to have it.

  186. rico says:

It turned out that Arsene Wenger was absolutely right, and AVB mentioned that in his post match interview.

It’s quite obvious that his side wouldn’t gel straight off, we have, we have seen that many times when 5/6 changes have been made for a cup match, and that’s with players who train together every day.

Building a team, especially with players from overseas, takes time and I’m really glad we played them when we did.

I suspect as the season goes on Spurs will improve but I think not until next season, will their new recruits really shine.

That comment made by Hunter was silly, because the RM players all said goodbye to Ozil on Sunday, a move had been agreed on the previous Friday I read.

In any case, I think SS’s ran a story early on Monday saying Man utd were not interested in signing Ozil.

  187. rico says:

There is an article in The Daily Mail today which suggests that Arsenal are now going to sort out players contracts. ie Rosicky, Sagna and Mertesacker..

No mention of Diabys contract, wonder when that is due to expire..

I agree Rico. People take what they want from the Internet and run with it to either suit their point or to have a bit of a go. As a journalist I know the pressure of deadlines and that these blokes have to come up with some shit or other just to satisfy their editors and shit is certqinly the major constituent of their produce. John Cross for instance is regarded as an ITK Arsenal writer but it is clear to me that the club quite often just use this side of his reputation to get disinformation out into the world and onto the net and social media. SS would not employ Ballague for his Chipmunk face, nor Hunter for his expanding gut squeezed into an inappropriate pair of jeans. No, they use them because they are perceived as being ITK. They are not. Their record of predictions is abysmal. But that doesn’t stop people on here quoting them as legitimate sources.

  189. rico says:

I actually quite like John Cross Adam, his articles always seem fair. By that I mean he doesn’t seem to have axe to grind with Arsenal. That doesn’t mean that I believe what he writes all of the time, especially when it comes to transfers etc etc

The two who report from Spain, well I don’t believe a word they spout, they are just typical of a human being who wants to be heard and will say anything to be so..

In the words of Billy Joel, most football journalists ‘say something so wrong, just to have something to say’…

But like you, it irks me no end to see stuff taken from somewhere else and just typed here and other forums, as if it’s fact.

I like to use ‘reportedly, allegedly and according to…’ – knowing full well that most of what is written in the newspapers/twitter etc is utter poppycock..

  190. Adam says:

I believe I wrote a post for you a while back Rico which was a bit of a rant against football writers and commentators.
I suggest that football is very badly served by these people. When I see somebody posting a Twitter feed, if that’s what it is, with a picture of someone else I have never heard of saying “Arsenal in for Falcao. Deal being discussed” I really do wonder why.
I completely agree with you re the Billy Joel lyric. I look at most comments, or the rumour site or the Bleacher Report, Goal, Caughtoffside and think why?
Why would anybody want to post a rumour that Lewandowski is definitely coming when they have no evidence to support that view? Surely it must be due to either a rather needy and sad personality disorder, or a chemical inbalance in the brain.
It seems that everyone wants their few moments of fame.

    Morning all,

The best news during the interlude thus far, TR07, Panzer and Rubber Bac have all been offered a contract extension. sweet

  192. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning all, Reading Rico and Adams comments makes me agree that whoever predicts Arsenal news is guessing and rumour mongering. Reading one of the daily papers yesterday wrote that Wenger is a genius as he had worked out that selling Gervinho would release a player to spuds that would ease the bale deal which eventually release Ozil to us. Although i rate Wenger, how the hell could he possibly know that the Domino effect would work out as it sid. Poppycock.

  193. Scott from Ozil says:

    Adam,
On your last sentence in the 7.59 am post, i expect you to make good on that when i am over in April.
Anyone else available is invited as well 🙂

  194. Adam says:

Morning Steve. For me the Internet, where football is concerned is the best place to have a chat and a bit of fun. The constant recycling of second hand news, that was probably invented in the first place, as some sort of substantive base for an argument is stupid. It causes bad feeling too.

  195. HenryB says:

    Adam,

Many sites get paid for ‘hits’ so publishing nonsense to catch bloggers desperate for transfer news, is like using sugar water to attract flies.

    There is a saying;

    “Wise men speak because they have something to say;
fools because they have to say something.”

  196. malaga gooner says:

steve thats why there called rumours.

what laws are people breaking by having a gossip,we have moved on from men gossiping in a pub to technology.
people are saying the same thing about the SUN newspaper for years but they still sold 4mill copys a day.
your on a forum that does not want to discuss rumours yet some of you dont talk about anything else.

if you dont like the gossip you will have to keep away from the media social especially..

  197. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning Adam, What i like about your comments are that they come from the hip, you obviously know football inside out and you have a way with words that HHers love. You are obviously well educated and that is probably why your a Gooner Keep up the good work Mate.

  198. Adam says:

Cheers Steve. The things that keep me on HH are that I have some great mates on here and that there is an agreement that we try to keep the complete BS that blights other sites to a minimum. Inevitably there will be some, especially during transfer windows. This last one was particularly fraught.

  199. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning MG, thats ripe advice from you as you have spread rumours from sources i haven’t a clue where you got them. At the end of the day MG we all want whats best for Arsenal some say what they would like to happen others are actually looking for true stories. Me i just like anything to do with Arsenal thats why i know Fcuk all.

  200. Scott from Ozil says:

Steve, i concede Wenger talks shit, and that is why i don’t stress over his comments.
Working out what he is doing or thinking is impossible.
Word has it that after we signed Ozil, the left side if his brain had a crack at the right side for keeping it secret!

  201. Scott from Ozil says:

    Haha Adam.
Time truly will tell, but i think…or maybe just hope…that Ozil negates the need for a striker as our forwards will have it served up on a platter.
    Hiya Steve.
    Hows the fishing going?
The boss lady and i are taking Sean out in the boat for the first time on sunday, and can not wait 🙂
