Are the French players ruining Arsenal & Will Olivier Giroud be the last signed for a while….?

Morning Gooners,

I was quite surprised reading the contents of a particular article yesterday.

The author of Sport Witness was simply producing an article based on what French Newspaper L’Equipe and Le 10 Sport, had plastered across their sports headlines.

L’Equipe:

Arsenal, Le French disaster – Diaby injured, Koscielny overwhelmed, Giroud off-beam… a nightmare’

Le 10 Sport said:

Koscielny, Diaby, Giroud: the French fleet sinks Arsenal

So what to make of such damning comments?

It’s true that Koscielny deserved the criticism he received after his two sloppy moments against Chelsea and had he cleared both Chelsea attacks, we may have won. We don’t know for sure of course, but they didn’t score any more did they?

Many fans are already losing patience with Giroud and some suggest that his signing was a waste of money. A few times now he has missed golden opportunities in front of goal and Saturdays blast into the side netting cost us a point. Earlier in the season, what seemed like a simple goal scoring chance went missing and with it went three points that day.

Come the end of the season, those five points could be the difference in winning the Premier League title or not.

Then of course, there is Diaby. Seldom does a day go by without his name hitting the headlines for one reason or another. He’s either deemed to be great, or just an old sickie who Wenger would be best to get rid of.

Then of course we have the ‘old crock’ Sagna and the young impatient whipper snapper, Francis Coquelin. The latter thinks he should be playing but when he does, he doesn’t really do himself any favours does he?

Tough decisions ahead Arsene…..

Bacary Sagna though is a different kettle of fish, he’s an old head, a great footballer and a very very experienced right back who has on many occasions over the years spared our blushes. Right now though, I just don’t see him walking straight back into the first team when he’s fully recovered and if he does, at the expense of Carl Jenkinson, I think it’s a huge mistake.

Jenkinson has done very little wrong and on Saturday, he had Hazard in his pocket!

Coquelin, well I think as long as Frimpong continues to recover well, stay off of Twitter and proves he has no ‘baggage’ from his injuries, he will go onto claim his place in this side and push Coquelin further away from a starting place and that will be the end of his Arsenal career.

My own view is that Olivier Giroud could be the last French player we will sign for a while as the Germans, Spanish and maybe even English are slowly taking over……

Looking and the Reserve/Academy players, it seems that the French reign is coming to an end as the English, Germans, Swiss and Spanish seem to be the way forward…..

But is that a good thing?

Finally, congratulations to the Arsenal Ladies, who yesterday defended their Womens Super League title with a 3-2 victory over Doncaster Rover Belles. All with a game in hand too.

Hopefully the mens team will soon join them in the medals….. Also a big shout out to our very own Gooner Mr Ian James Poulter for a brilliant Ryder Cup and well done to the whole team for showing such fight in a stunning comeback and victory on American soil…….

Funny how all those home fans were rather quiet at the end after two and a half days of hot air and noise.

That’s it for another day, have a good one……

    Morning all

If we had wrote off all players that could neot perform to standards in their 10 first games we would never have had Bergkamp and Henry…..writing off Giraud this early is plane lunacy.

Saturday lss was down to bad defending and individual mistakes. Bad team defending you can work on one the training ground but individual mistakes are harder to erase.

  2. John Grondona says:

Really poor article. How can a few blatant errors cause the demise of Arsenal’s season ? We raed dilay about the new brigade at Chelsea, Man City, et al needing time to settle. Why not Arsenal ? Koscielny cost Arsenal the game on saturday. Last season.s best defender. One bad game does not make him a bad player.

  3. Lewis says:

    Morning all,

Missed the game Saturday and haven’t been able to bring myself to watch the highlights. Proper gutted. We’re we unlucky to lose or were the chavs worthy of 3 points?

I thought Kos would come in and he did, I guess the old saying of if it isn’t broke it doesn’t need fixing applies. Per has been the only constant in the defence this season, with a MOTM performance against city, so he deserved to play yesterday.

Anyway what’s done is done, on to olympiacos which I will be attending. Canny wait like!

  4. Lewis says:

Just watched them. Very poor defending and not taking our chances. 2 games in a row where 3 points were really there for the taking and we’ve come away with 1.
Giroud needs a run in the team, he is creating chances but the lack of game time and not being a starter is going to do nothing other than dent his confidence and make him rusty on front of goal. We need him confident.

  5. Mattyboy says:

I think the whole Giroud thing is a bit harsh… you cant blame a player who is only getting 20-15 mins a game to shine.. Giroud was amazing when he came on prior to his cock up at the end… Wenger is doing the whole Chamak thing again!

  6. devilgunner says:

Good Morning my Esteemed Fellow Gunner.

Grondona………your comment is simply stating that you did not understand the article. Rico (the author that is) was simply asking questions regarding what other articles have written. Mark my words mate……..Rico knows enough about Koscielny not to slag him. The article is simply about what others have said.

Good points Rico. Yesterday I made it a point not to come on HH. The reason was that I would have shot through the roof due to many people commenting negatively about one loss. Hell, the league season runs till May.

As Scott said………the result was in itself disappointing, but more disappointing was the fans reaction. Bar Jenkinson and Gibbs everyone was practically slagged off. Grondona made a good point…………we need time to settle like other teams do. Yes even the reports on NN were slagging off AFC. Whilst I acknowledge that we did not play up to the level we are accustomed to, it must be pionted out that its the European champions we had played, not Southampton with all respect to them. Yes we gifted them two goals, but that is much more easier to take in than if they were better than us and simply pushed us aside.

We played well against Shitty. We did not do well against the Chavs.

The problem is that some AFC fans expect us to remain unbeaten in every game simply because we are Arsenal.

We cannot play well in every game. We cannot win every game. There will be moments when we loose.

Even the great Barca team which won 6 cups around two or three seasons ago managed to loose 4 in the league.

Still 32 more games to go.

  7. devilgunner says:

Giroud was bought to start up front.

Just stick him there and play him, whether or not he scores.

Against Coventry he started and he scored.

For heaven’s sake………DB10 took 10 games to score his first goal.

I would stick him there and make the team play to his strengths.

  8. mattyboy86 says:

Exactly DG!!! he aint going to find his feet sitting on the bench! Gervinho just a headless chicken who needs to put his brain into use because his decision making is to terrible to be playing up front… And Walcott on saturday was shocking he looked like a 5 year old child playing for the 1st time for a local football team and even that kid would probably have alot more passion then what walcott showed Sat. Dont get me wrong on Walcott day he can be class but for me there isnt any passion there and is a long long longgggggggg way from become any thing close to Henry legency!

  9. Duc says:

There are signs that Arsenal may have a strong English content and you ask is that a good thing? Globalisation really has worked its juju on you hasn’t it? Arsenal actually having players from Highbury, Stoke Newingtgon, Finsbury Park? The horror.

AW: “Hey Grimandi, lets go to France Div 3, buy a player on Tuesday that no ones ever heard of and play him on Saturday.”

Liam Brady: “What about the Academy lad from Blackstock Rd Arsene, who we’ve had 12 years since he was 8? Shouldn’t he get a crack? He’s the future, remember?”

AW: “Play him in the Carling Cup and then flog him. We’re off to the Ivory Ghost scouting.Via every dustbin in France of course” (Evil laughter)

    Exit AW & Grimandi.

  10. devilgunner says:

The last time that on of my teams won a promotion title was around 4 years ago. We went up as champions, having played 28 games. We lost only 2 games. Yet these two games came in the 3rd and 8th game. Did I panic? No. Did the players panic? No. We stuck to our game and went up at the end of the season. We averaged 3.42 goals per game and conceded only 12. 5 of these goals came in our two losses. 0-3 and 0-2.

During those two games all the playing staff was crap. And yes even I was crap. But we stuck to our guns.

That was only the under 17 national league. But you always play at your own level. If someone tells me you cannot compare the EPL with an under 17 league, fair enough. But as I said……..you play at your own level.

And bdw……….what is all this fuss. Manure have already lost to Everton and the scum. And their team is all of it crap. Mark my words……….they will struggle this season.

  11. mattyboy86 says:

Also im not a fan of this zonal marking crap!!! just thought ill chuck that out there… Its twice the defence have been over muscled from the opposing team.

  12. devilgunner says:

Zonal marking is good only during open play. Its not so effective against set pieces. During those MTM must come to the fore. Example……Mertesacker must mark player X, Koscielny marks player Y, Podolski marks player Z. And so on. Each player sticks to his man like a leach. AND MAKE SURE THAT HE GETS THE BALL FIRST.

  13. mattyboy86 says:

Clearly not Lewis… Hope they find there form this weekend against west ham and stick with Giroud upfront!

  14. TalkShiteGingerHater says:

Rico, I totally disagree with John Grondona at 9:50 am.

Your observation of what is happening at youth level confirms your own point. This is also the reason why M’Villa was not bought.

I think we should forget about the last 2 games because, personally I will take a win over WHU over Chelsea if I had to make a choice. My reason is that, I can see what the headlines will say on next Sunday morning if they are to be us being something like ‘Soft Arsenal, Big Sam and Andy Carrol teach Arsenal a footballing lesson’.

We are all slating AW but the fact is that we all wanted Kos & TV to face Liverpood and $hitty. What the performance and team selection show to me is that we as funs can not expect a player to just be 100% when they have played 3 and a half games since last May. The reason 2nd reason why Manure always do better in the league with average players is that the red nose rotates so no player is ever rusty. The first reason we all how is because of referee decisions going their way.

Lets get behind this time because I still strongly believe we have a very good chance to win something this year. Additionally, AW is beginning to make team selection based on the opposition which is a good thing because ‘maureeniho’ and the Red nose do likewise.

    COYGss

  15. JW says:

    Morning all,

DG, Koscielny was stuck to Torres like a leach for the first gaol, couldn’t stop him scoring though.

Defending isn’t that simple, there is so much going on in the penalty area, so much movement, so many players making runs or dummy runs, tugging at shirts etc. It takes a very cool head to defend effectively in those circumstances.

Koscielny has frequently demonstrated his lack of such an attribute when under pressure. On Saturday much of Bould’s coaching was forgotten.

  16. JW says:

    TSGH,

I assume from your comment “AW is beginning to make team selection based on the opposition” that had Drogba been playing Wenger would have selected Meretesacker over Koscielny. If that was the case then he seriously underestimated the threat of Torres.

  17. devilgunner says:

Listen guys………Torres scored a superb goal. End of. Had that player been one of our own to score such a hooked goal we would be calling him a genius. Had Cazorla done that we would have clamoured for him to have the goal of the month. Unfortunately Torres was playing for the chavs.

TSGH………you and I are on the same wavelength.

Had the shot by Giroud gone in we would have been hailing him as a saviour. Instead many are slating him. Why?? He does his job well in leading the line.

    Give him time FFS.

  18. DutchGooner10 says:

    Afternoon all,

Torres took the upper hand on Kozzer even before the ball left the spot. The Spaniard pulled him to his wishes. Had Kozzer digged in his studs more Torres probably wouldn’t have found that split second composure that easily.

Besides Manny should have left his line to close down the angle, stepping closer to the post to limit the target space. Not saying he should have charged on the ball to claw it, but the trajectory gave enough time to change position and make the gap appear smaller. Making a chance of pushing it away that much bigger.

Giroud deserves more time to deliver a sucker punch if Wenger choses to bring him of the bench. An early change in approach is still left wanting. The traditional 70 minute substitutes aren’t catching teams off guard.

  19. Scott from Oz says:

    Evening all.
Torres had two arms around Kozzer when he scored……though Kozzer was too intent on wrestling him instead of going for the ball.
As i said earlier,i never saw the game, but the way MOST Gooners commented, you’d have thought our side are just hopeless….the same side who outplayed Citeh not too long ago!!
I do not care if people choose to criticise a performance of the team or an indivisual player, but those comments often make the writer look a complete idiot when they are in total contrast to what the same person wrote a week or two back.
I saw the highlight package tonight, and saw some of the incidents people had commented on,and i actually wonder if some viewers need glasses!!
    Firstly,i read Giroud was woeful!
Well, once again i say he is showing his class by getting into brilliant positions, and his finishing will come.
Secondly, someone wrote, when defending Giroud, that Cazrola missed two sitters.
Well,if they were sitters, then i will bear my arse to the world!!
Next was Mannone…..this week he isn’t good enough, yet a few weeks back, everyone questioned why he didn’t play at Anfield!
Kozzer…..anyone needing reminding on how good he is just doesn’t watch football.
Our back 4……suddenly they are a work in progress, when a week or two back they were awesome.
Take your pick, but they can’t be bloody both!!!
Podolski was a non event….what a crock of shit!!
Cazorla showed he can’t handle the physical aspect of the Pl…..another load of tripe!
I read we dominated Chelski…well, they had around 54% of possession….enough said!!
Yes,these are comments i have read from seemingly intelligent and knowledgable Gooners, yet one loss, amd they truly to go to water.
Anyway, blame anything, anyone, any incident, but games are there to be won and lost, and nobody wins every week.
We were beaten by a bloody decent side, one that has cost several hundreds of millions to assemble, but we had the better of the chances.
It isn’t all bad,and we will have a bloody good year.
    Did anyone see Spuds v Utd……..what a shit game….seriously.
You want to see some piss poor defending…..watch that game!!!
We would seriously have torn each of them a new one!!!
    Chelsea,Citeh and Arsenal…..top 3 this season,without question,imo.

  20. devilgunner says:

Against Shitty TommyV had a flu. Soon it will be just a slight muscle strain and Kozzer and Merte will play together. Then it will be Tommy and Merte while Kozzer will be rested.

    Believe me……….AW will rotate.

  21. DutchGooner10 says:

    Afternoon Rico,

Haven’t read either but I think Diaby will be fine. Maybe he’s been instructed to be cautious to prevent the bad going worse.

  22. JW says:

For season after season, despite the Little Dutch Boy’s goals, we have failed to win enough games to really compete for the top prizes. The problem throughout that time, as everybody knows, was our sieve-like defence.

For the first few games of this season we have seen a vast improvement in the goals conceded column, a fact put down to the influence of Steve Bould’s coaching. Unfortunately, on Saturday, much of that good work was undone by two errors by one defender.

If we had managed to convert a couple of the excellent chances created at the other end of the pitch we wouldn’t be having the sort of inquest going on throughout the blogosphere and beyond.

The blame for the failure to score can’t be laid entirely at the door of Podolkski, Giroud and Cazorla, Petr Cech must take a great deal of credit for pulling of some top class saves. Giroud, in particular, has been harshly treated and deserves some leeway, he will come good but needs a bit more game time, coming off the bench for twenty minutes wont do it.

If we can ally a little more composure in front of goal with a little more of the same at the other end of the pitch, I’m sure that we will be in for an exciting and successful season.

  23. devilgunner says:

Scott……..I couldn’t have put it any better.

    Top comment.

I am more angry with the comments some people make than with the result. Yes, a bit sad, but come on guys and dolls. We were playing the champions of Europe and one of the top sides in money cost to assemble.

we have just lost one game in 6. A year ago remember that …..

    vs Manure 2-8
    vs B’Burn 3-4
    vs dippers 0-2

Three losses in the first 6 games.

  24. DutchGooner10 says:

On the rise Rico, thanks, still a bit of a fight to keep concentration overcoming the light head. Charging my batteries one day at the time.

  25. JW says:

I really don’t think we can rely on Diaby to play a major role in the side, use him when he’s fit, but we need to find another defensive mid-fieder for the rest of the time, hopefully Frimpong can fill the gap or more likely the gaps.

  26. rico says:

Afternoon Dg, I hope he’s ok too, just hard to believe it will be just 3 weeks but that’s because of his past record… Fingers crossed….

I’m still livid about the result, we may have been playing the CL winners but they were lucky, they were there for the taking on Saturday but we failed..

I don’t care how we dress up the loss to make it sound positive, I think we really missed an opportunity to make a stand. We were at The Emirates too…..

  27. devilgunner says:

I am with you on that Rico. Yes we failed to take them.

But with hindsight……….you are paying a compliment to the present side. We were not bullied, we have good players and we could have won.

But its better to loose like that than being on the loosing end after being bullied by the side.

  28. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,
Can’t see any Giroud bashing on here, maybe it’s me who needs my eyes testing.
Kozzer had a crap day at the office, payed for it and was taken to the cleaners, as long as it’s a one off I can handle that.
Scott, Mannone ain’t good enough, anyone can see that but he’s our only option at this time so we’re stuck with him.
Rico, I’m hearing Bupa Health Insurance have refused to have anything to do with Diaby now and I got no reason to lie.

  29. JW says:

    Rico,

I share your lividness and it was a lost opportunity but…it’s not the end of the world.

All I can say is “Always look on the bright side of life” 😀

  30. rico says:

devil – a loss is a loss, and personally speaking, i didn’t think chelsea were that good…

Hi Micko, only just refused? Thought they would have done that a while ago 😉

JW, feels like it it’s the end of the world … but I’ll try to keep looking 😉

  31. rico says:

    Duc @ 10.41….

You really didn’t get it did you?? It’s called trying to get others views and a debate… 🙄

  32. BigSanty says:

Ps does anyone knows anything with Chamakh? ℓ̊ mean †ђξ reason O̶̲̥̅Ϟ AW playing Gervinho as false 9 when we have Chamakh who could actually play upfront. Could rotate him & Giroud upfront.

  33. JW says:

    Big Santy,

Yeah, everybody knows about Chamakh, we have been trying to off-load him for two seasons because he’s b****y useless. If anybody should play up front it’s Giroud and he doesn’t need rotating.

  34. rico says:

    Sorry BigSanty, no idea…

My view is just play Giroud, the more he starts/plays the more he will improve….

  35. hakzah says:

    afternoon Rico & all gooners

i know ! its a big disappointment and every gunner is fuming after
last result…but no matter how great players are, they still make mistakes and lose concentration..

if there is any blame ,if any,i will put it on AW and his selection..
dropping Merts was a big mistake, people talk about his lack
of speed,he showed how great he was against two of the most trickiest frontmen in the PL…Aguerro+Tevez…seems strange to me to drop your MOTM against city!

maybe the formula would have been better with Merts & kos…Vermo
is top, top defender, but he charges in and makes silly fouls( same like Song) ,himself said he should hold back and try to sheild the players away and be more smart( after conceding a penalty V Montpellier)….

wasn’t smart move to make him the captain, will be hard to drop him now !…to me rotaion should be between him & kos..coz they are almost similar and Merts give us something different . Arteta is worthy of the armband.

leaving Giroud on the bench !!…was looking forward to him muscling out aging Terry and diving Luiz..
he has to lead the line ..bringing him when we are trailing (city-chavs) asks a lot from him…

we take ages in changing our formula and subs..tika taka was clearly not working ..so change it.!.why wait till we trail and try to salvage something then ? we were at home, its we who should be taking the initiative..

4-5-1 early second half ,to combat chelsea’s mids..coz we were outrun there…and couldn’t cope.

we will come good,so many positive signs ….just need to be tenacious and surprise the opposition with quick thinking from the dugouts..we can’t afford to be predictable.

  36. BigSanty says:

Thanks JW… But if Chamakh Ȋ̝̊̅§ ɑ̤̥̈̊ b***sh*t player then Gervinho Ȋ̝̊̅§ ɑ̤̥̈̊ brainless moron IMHO, cus he never seems to get anything right upfront. Really his decision making @ †ђξ final third Ȋ̝̊̅§ quite awful & its costing us points. Think ℓ̊’ll manage Chamakh upfront to Gervinho poor decision making…moreover what’s †ђξ essence of sitting down & earning his wages without working for it? Am only thinking…

  37. rico says:

    Afternoon hak,

I think it’s quite easy to look back and say AW should have fielded a different side and I agree. But that decision of mine is based purely after watching the game.

I thought TV and Kos would be the best pairing because Chelsea have speedy, tricky little players. Maybe I too forgot that Torres had found a little bit of form…

I like TV as captain, think he was most fans pick too wasn’t he?

Giroud. I would definitely have started him, definitely…..

  38. rico says:

Gervinhos goal wasn’t bad though BigS??

Like a few others, he just needs to be doing things like that more often…

  39. Adam says:

JW. True and they’ve run out of Cuban heel boots too. 🙂 but they do have Cha Cha Moon, one of my favourite noodle bars.
As for all this Arsenal stuff? I have many thoughts which have not changed since The morning of September 1st but have been keeping to myself so as not to appear reactionary, disloyal, idiotic etc, etc. the dust will settle over the next few weeks though.

  40. JW says:

    BIgSanty,

Gervinho is an instinctive player, if he has time to think, he gets it wrong. Giroud should be our main striker, no question!!

  41. BigSanty says:

If we don’t give our strikers chance ℓ̊ wonder how they can perform since it Ȋ̝̊̅§ very Ģ♡̷̬̩̃̊♡̷̬̩̃̊Ď we have ɑ̤̥̈̊ proven striker with proven scoring record I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ our club.
IMHO ℓ̊ will want †ђξ strikers being tested well I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ these competition:
    Chamakh = C Cup
    Walcott = FA Cup &
    Giroud= EPL
From here we can get more suitable forward for us

  42. JW says:

    Rico,

No not Dame Judi, a clothing range by Lethal Bizzle (what ever that is) and Frimpong..

I think Adam’s been looking for some of it in Carnaby Street this morning. 🙂

  43. rico says:

Oops, sorry JW, I left off the Dame 😉

I must be getting old, never heard of Dench, either that or maybe I need to get out more….

  44. Adam says:

JW. What an absolute dump Carnaby Street is now. Full of trainers, lumberjack shirts, shapeless smocks, puddles and people with an uncomfortable level of piercing to their faces and probably their genitals.
What was incredible was the half-mile queue of really young, chubby girls waiting to see the matinee performance of Scrooge at the Palladium starring Tommy Steele who must be 75 years old now, pictured with an astonishing blond syrup about a foot tall.

that is why I am not that much worried Rico. They were not that better than us. Of course it is frustrating. but its early days. and the players and AW+SB will learn from the last three goals conceded.

  46. JW says:

    Adam,

Strewth! Is it any worse now than when it was full of flowery shirts, flaired trousers, long curly hair and that was just the blokes!! Never mind the Sheilas!

Sorry, I slipped into a bit of Oz-Speak there. 😀

  47. Adam says:

Much worse JW. At least the pungent whiff of marijuana mingled with joss sticks and patchouli oil gave the place a sense of identity. :). The only reason to go there now is to sample the crispy duck Lao Mien at Cha Cha Moon. It is mightily good.

  48. DutchGooner10 says:

    WOW Lee

That’s prison casual if you ask me. Great for touching up your closet on riot gear. Only thing missing are the pants around the ankles. Making it hard for Bulgarians to pick them pockets while traveling the tube unpaid, sparing coins for KFC. 😉

  49. tomstoned says:

c’mon….agreed saturday proved one thing, we’re not quite there yet,but its early days…and me personally, i think we have done better than exoected
Diaby…well everyone else who comes back from the injury hell he have been trough gets these niggling injuries,i think he will be ok this season and what a player eh ?
    Jacks back 🙂
    Sagna’s back 🙂
nope lets stay firm.stay calm, and get behind the team..

Giroud has it all, give him time…

lets see how we bounce back..

  50. DutchGooner10 says:

JW Bulgarians might not be on the menu but if you ask whispering hand over mouth they might slip you some flaked pickpocket fingers under the counter. 🙂

  52. Joaquim Moreira says:

If Arsenal had suffered a goal that Chelsea suffered, who had been at fault?
Kos? Tv? both? AW? Diaby? Giroud?
Don’t forget Gervinho had enought time for everything ! 🙂
For me and keep, the biggest culprit is the two goals Manone. It is not in their DNA to neutralize crosses and the balls in the small area.
I’m focused on Olympiakos and the performance of JW today

  53. Will XL says:

Hola Gooners. I think i have finally come to terms with our loss on Saturday. Now looking fwd to Wednesday.

  54. Bendtnersgone says:

Fans these days have very little patience, demanding immediate success or the toys get thrown out of the pram.
I reckon he’ll come good. He’s good on the ball and has a nose for good positioning. A couple of point losing misses won ‘t have helped him but we as the Arsenal faithful can help him. Those bleating that he’s crap clearly didn’t see some of TH14’s early efforts before things clicked for him. Dennis too for that matter. Lay off him and try giving him some true support.

  55. agirlagunner says:

However gutted we all feel about the loss to the Chavs, it is done now.

Cannot wait for Wednesday for our next win! 😉

Hi Rico, i was keeping an eye on the updates. Seems like he put in an efficient 60 minutes. Didn’t control the game but he did well. We lost 0-1 but deserved at least a draw. Jack even got a knock and The physio came on. But he was up and running again in no time. Seems like he’s well on his way.

  57. rico says:

    Hi Will,

Great news then, bet your heart went into your mouth when the physio came on….

I think he’ll be back after the international break.

  58. rico says:

    Who Frimps or Jack?

Reckon Frimps is a good call Tsgh, especially with Diaby out now. Wonder what AW has in his mind.

I think WH will be a tough game…

  59. DutchGooner10 says:

Before we get any strong worded letters about racial abuse.

I love a well smothered Goulash and I know for a fact some bloggers here are prepared to put Hristo Stoichkov on their list of all time favourite players from the old days.

But in all seriousness, this gimmick business of Frimpong could easily backfire on him. Opening a can of worms. He will get roasted by association if behavior incidents spark the gutter press louts with inspiration. This is a PR disaster waiting to happen. Mark my words. This will be made out to be more than a dress code he wants aspire to.

  60. TalkShiteGingerHater says:

Frimps I meant. He would not start with Carzola, and Gervinho as a striker. Otherwise we are truly screwed. If Le Coq has recovered from his ‘ailment’ he may come in next to Arteta. But I think 5 high profile games in 18 days for Arteta alone is a bit too much.My thoughts only.

Wednesday is going to be a tough day

  61. TalkShiteGingerHater says:

I meant Aw will not start with SC19 and gervais against WHU without another defensive minded player in midfield

  62. DutchGooner10 says:

Thanx Emma for the clip. Nice to see our little prince enjoying a bit of competitive game time.

  63. emma says:

TSGH – i thought there is international break after this weekend with regards to arteta playing 5 matches in 18 days

  64. emma says:

wilshere should be back in the first team after the international break. He will be featuring in next u21 match against reading a week on monday

  65. agirlagunner says:

rico, I was on spam the entire time yesterday. 🙁 Silly wordpress, and I don’t even eat the stuff. 😛

  66. DutchGooner10 says:

Hiya Agag. Battered but not beaten. Taking my recovery day by day. A nasty virus murdered my spirits. At one point I thought I would cough out my entire backbone.

  67. agirlagunner says:

Oh no, Dutch. Glad to hear you’re better. You should be eating your veggies, you know. (and rico would like that 🙂 ) Sounds serious. We haven’t seen much of you in aaaages. Is it super cold where you are?

I hope LJ takes his time; it won’t do to have him fit for a while and then out for a year.

  68. rico says:

I’m so sorry agag, I didn’t even realise about yesterday, I will check over the next few days and make sure it doesn’t happen. 😆 re the spam….

  69. DutchGooner10 says:

Ahh Agag I understand you’re curious about my absence before the bug got under my skin. Well sometimes you have to choose your primary objectives and get involved heavily to force any result. No distractions that take your eye of the ball. I had some personal things to attend to, I did read up on all the news here on HH but I refrained from comments.

  70. agirlagunner says:

rico, I had to stop and try to remember whether I said anything overly critical of Theo. Ha! 🙂

  71. devilgunner says:

Good Evening my Esteemed Fellow Gunners.

    hope you all are ok.

Back from training. Boy it was so good.

Take a look at this mates……..awesome.

  72. devilgunner says:

oyyyyy mate. What happened to you DG?? I managed to get you got some virus right. but are you ok now???

  73. DutchGooner10 says:

Hi Coach you sure did and I came unprepared. 😉 I’m getting back with the living now. But it felt like a taco flu (Mexican virus that threatened to decimate world population.) 😉

It strangely kept reappearing whenever I thought the worse was over. My appetite for food got robbed and even fluids couldn’t be stomached.

  74. DutchGooner10 says:

Still feel light headed at times and can sense my metabolics fighting the last germs standing. 🙂

  75. Will XL says:

Incredible goal. I’m sure that is exactly how he intended it. When was the last time a gunner banned one in from 30 yards in the first team? It’s been some time. Cesc?

  76. devilgunner says:

I have just read on a french site that SAF red nose wants to sign a 35 year old defender who is on a free.

    His name iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssss……………….

…………..wait for it. If you are eating stop immediately.

    ….MIKAAAEEELLLL SIIIIIILLLLLVVVVSSSSSSTREEEEE

    YABBBBAAAAA DDDAAAABBBBAAA DUUUUUUUUUU

LET’S SELL HIM sQUILLY. JUST FOR 900,000

  77. devilgunner says:

    hope he does.

it will be nightmare for van pussies to see him again.

Gervinho will tear him apart. Or out the Ox on him.

  78. DutchGooner10 says:

Devil you could have warned coffee drinkers as well. My ceiling is sprayed.

Good Lord, but that’s ambition for you. Genius……. or a journo packing his stuff in the morning.

  79. rico says:

I am off for the day, soap night for me and an early one, The Ryder Cup kept me up far later than I am used to….

    Night all, stay safe….

  80. devilgunner says:

    See you Lady.

DG…..hope you will be in fine fettle soon.

    I am off too.

Good night my Esteemed Fellow Gunners

  81. Scott from Oz says:

Didn’t Arteta bang one in from decent range v Citeh last season….oh how soon we forget.
Dutch, sounds like you have the same thing i have been fighting or 3 weeks now!!

  82. Scott from Oz says:

It was only 40 odd seconds, but Jack showed some great signs and rustiness, but badly lacks match fitness which is obviously understandable.
    Great to see him back.

  83. allezkev says:

I know that a lot of Gooners have little or no confidence in Abou Diaby’s ability to stay fit.
Personally I couldn’t blame them one iota.
His substitution on Saturday, with a thigh strain, was pretty well predicted by many.
So not many Gooners will be surprised, and tbh, neither am I…
But I am disappointed all the same, and hopefully the 3 weeks is as a precaution to his injury being aggravated and made worse…
Considering his history of injuries I would consider 20 senior appearances this season, as some kind of progress from Diaby.
30+ and I might buy a round of drinks in the Bank of Friendship…
But only if Wath turns up….

  84. allezkev says:

As for Giroud, it’s good to read the sensible and patient comments, as I expected from our
HH bloggers, being made about our new centre-forwards trials and tribulations.
Not surprised by the common sense on here. I kinda expect it.
Our patience will be rewarded, of that I am certain.

  85. allezkev says:

Wonderful to see Jack on a football field again.
He’s not gonna play 40 or 50 games this season.
    Patience again..!
But if he can manage 25/30 games, both from the bench as well as starts, then I will be delighted…

  86. Will XL says:

Ak, Diaby’s injury is unfortunate. The manner in which he got hurt is also testament to his frailty. I’ve gotten the exact injury in the exact circumstance but i was not in any footballing shape whatsoever nor was i training or exercising at all. Straining a thigh while taking a shot is usually indicative of muscle tiredness, insufficient muscle conditioning, or failure to warm up before exertion… None of which should be the case with a premier league footballer at this stage. I wouldn’t expect it to keep him out for an extended period but I wouldn’t count out recurrences. At this stage, Diaby needs to think about ways in which he can tailor his game to minimize the chances of injuring himself. He should know his body pretty well by now. No unnecessary power shots from outside might be a start. He needs to focus on extending his career.

  87. allezkev says:

Will, that does seem to make sense.
Tbh I did kinda feel that that was what he was doing during those first games.
We’re gonna miss his height, especially when defending high balls into the box.
I just hope that he can recover enough to put a run of 8 to 10 games together, without anymore strains or pulls…
Seems that whenever he plays for the fcuking French national team, that he breaks down shortly afterwards…
As this has been reported as being the last season of his currant contract, it could make for an intriguing summer…
