Another late show seals three big points at Turf Moor.

Morning all.

Well that was far from being as good as last weekends performance but to be honest, winning at Turf Moor was a good result. Manywill struggle against what I thought was a defensively disciplined side. But Burnley weren’t all about defending, well, not from the highlights I watched. In fact they had more chances than we did, better ones too. Cech made a couple of good saves and the back line were called into action on more than the odd occasion and did well. Ramsey had a great chance to open the scoring but his shot from close range went flying over the bar.

Arsene Wenger:

I felt we played a bit slowly in the first half but in the second half our pace was much better, even if we missed the final ball. Is that down to us not being able to find the right ball or because of them defending very well? What is for sure is that they defend very well, they are very well organised and they are very clever, very clever, very direct as well. You understand when you play against them, why they have 22 points.

In the first half it was a very even game with them looking a bit sharper than us. It took us a while to get into the pace of the game. We were more decisive on 50:50s in the second half. In the second half I felt it was all us and they had many more problems coming out. We made some changes but we also pushed ourselves a bit higher up.

Lee Mason looked like he had another stinker. Lacazette was robbed of a good attacking movement after he was adjudged to have fouled a Burnley player and other decisions he made were odd too. So when in added time he pointed to the penalty spot after Ramsey had been nudged over, I was surprised. Mind you, he missed the one on Bellerin.

Up stepped Alexis Sanchez to fire the penalty into the bottom corner of the goal narrowly avoiding Nick Pope’s stretched out finger tips. Shortly after the final whistle blew and off back to London the squad and Wenger etc went with three big points in the bag.

For us, after the win against Tottenham, it was very important to go away from home and play a very difficult game and win it. That’s what we did. For the belief of the team, it’s a very important win. – Arsene Wenger

We’re now in the top four and Chelsea are there to be overtaken, as are Man Utd. Catching City might be a step too far because they’re on fire but as we of all clubs know, anything can wrong at any time. Wenger and the rest need to make sure it doesn’t happen to us.

History suggests it probably will but perhaps Lady Luck might be on our side, after all, when did we last have a near on fully fit squad in November let alone actually winning football matches in the same month.

Ok we’ve lost one against City but if we can beat Huddersfield on Wednesday night, November will have been a pretty good month all things considered..

Then it’s into December with a tasty fixture against Mourinho and his horrid lot.

Have a good day guys, ignore the media they are just bitter. Of course it was a penalty!

Good win, I didn’t watch the full 90 minutes, but I had this feeling we would find them difficult to break down because they were defensively effective. We should be thinking of getting a confident English CB soon.

What to say, currently we are being accused of all sorts from taking advantage to plain cheating. Wenger is of course is guilty of double standards Sterling dived but Ramsey ? Well that’s different. Maybe all that’s finally happened is that the penny has dropped and that we have joined the others. Still 3 points.

Morning all from a wet Cornwall…………….yes, hard to believe I know ! ……

    🙂

Thanks Rico………they say Burnley are hard to beat at home, but their away form is more impressive as they have drawn at Tottnumb, Liverpool and won at Everton, Soton and Chavs, but Arsenal are a bogey team to them even with the military drilled defense………………it was only a matter of time !
    🙂

Top 4 should be a no brainer seeing as all our rivals are in the CL. No one is going to catch Man$our City, they have the best chance ever to become the new Invincibles, not surprising though with a great technical footballing manager and a bottomless pit of money !……………………lets be honest, yes they have a great manager, but the biggest ingrediant in their recipe for success is the money !…………..no one comes closer to the bucks they have to spend in this league, not even Manshafter Std !…………………………..if only the Mansours would have bought our club, it`s like having your own magic lamp !

    Morning all.
There’s a massive difference between a dive and making the most of contact.
A dive, imo, is where there’s no contact made.
No question, it was a penalty, imo.
November is shaping up as a decent one, considering our recent history.

Morning Rico. I only saw a clip of it and there definitely was a push. If there wasn’t, then why did the Burnley player have both hands on Ramsey’s back? Silly really because who knows if Ramsey would have made anything of that situation?
Apparently, we were pretty shitty all game though. Still, 3 points eh?

  6. rico says:

Morning Adam. Agree, a definite penalty but then perhaps the one involving Bellerin was too.

I suspect AW wishes he’d not accused Sterling of diving because he was shoved too..

  7. rico says:

Another thing, Monreal again shoved a Burnley player over in the box and had the offside flag not been raised he’d have given away yet another penalty…

  8. Bob John says:

I watched two sets of highlights. One on Sky with a fair commentary and summarizing. And the other on BBC – say no more! The Burnley or Boo-nley as I now call them are up there with the in-breds of Stoke for their moronic booing and chants!

  9. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Rico, I can’t be expected to explain Wengers comments or line of thinking.
As for Alexis-he has taken a dive with no contact, so is guilty of diving.
Nacho does run the gauntlet, but our worst 2 players for grabbing and shoving are Chambers and Ramsey.

  10. Le Coq Monster says:

I think FIFA…………..The FA…………….UEFA……………should bring out a new rule where all players (except goalies !) have to have their arms tied to their sides !……………………….this would cut out a multitude of sins !……………………………no hand balls…………….no shoving………………no pulling……………..no grabbing…………………..no arms being offside……………….no eye gorging…………………….no tickling of testi`s………………….non of that stupid shaking of hands before a game, french kiss instead……………………….all free kick walls will be like russian roulette and they wouldn`t be able to pray that they can father children…………………………….watching Raheem Stirling try to get up every five minutes would be fun…………………….no Maradonna goal against England !!!……………………………It makes sense really as the game is called football !…………………..simple, but fcuking genius

  11. ScottfromOz says:

    Make that proposal, LC lol
A Citeh player took the ultimate dive on the weekend (not Sterling) and copped a yellow card for his trouble.
Give the bastard 12 months and see how quickly the practice stops.
I don’t like embellishment, but I can nearly handle it, whereas diving without contact is the ultimate form of cheating in football, imo.

  12. Le Coq Monster says:

So Scott……………..what would you have gave Rivaldo here ?………………………he`s clearly in agony …….poor bastard !

    😆

  13. rico says:

Scott, I thought the same after I left my comment so my mistake. My point though was a push is a push and a shove is a shove and AW needs to realise that…

Anyway, another tough challenge faces us on Wednesday

  14. Le Coq Monster says:

Have I put one up today ?…………………….if not show me one and will explain or next time I do it I will explain, cant think off hand without seeing one ! hahaha

    Hold on a sec`, are you talking about………………………….or the ” ” ” “s ?………………………if it`s the……………………..then that`s just a gap !………………probably instead of an , , , , ………………hope that`s as clear as mud ………

    🙂

  15. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, you won’t get me arguing about Wenger and how silence would be his best friend 🙂 🙂 🙂
LC, imo, FIFA would do well to advise footballers around the world that if they’re guilty of diving, they’ll cop a hefty suspension.
To be clear, I mean diving without contact.
I don’t like embellishing, but I can tolerate it, but the utter cheating involved in a proper dive disgusts me.
    FIFA should lead the way.

  16. Kk says:

in 9 out of ten times of diving there is a contact some how, it’s the exaggerated response that should be condemned. .I mean Ashley Young, Drogba, Roben, suarez, the whole of Barcelona team with the exception of Messi, Deli Ali, Rooney, all made diving a form of art. . All we hear from the media is they are winners and would do anything to win..
Ramsey just did what all those “legends” did and have been doing for ages..

The incident with the Everton player who got charged and banned retrospectively is the right way forward imo.

  17. micko says:

Kk, not forgetting Ruud Van Nistelrooy and his strategically placed mattress at the Stretford End eh !

rico, do me a favour and give Rebekah a right slap across the chops from me will ya lol.

  18. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Afternoon all,

It was a penalty, just like all those that have been given against The Arsenal over the previous 133 years
