Another German to sign and more of the same…

Morning all,

So we’re led to believe we have made an offer for German defender/midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz, Well I like him, he is a grafter big and strong and also pretty good on the ball. He’s only 26 and can play right back and right midfield. A good acquisition if it’s true but then again we been linked with so many it’s probably yet another out of the pot that someone has picked as a name to run with.

The stories on Gabriel Paulista carry on and he’s been left out the Villareal squad this weekend but will that mean we can get a work permit for him..?

We have a week or so left in the transfer window and seems now is the time things will start to happen. We all know what we need and lets hope so does Arsene and lets hope we pay what’s necessary to add to the squad so we can push on for 3rd place this season and a decent cup win…!

We have Brighton tomorrow and looks as if it’s a good time to give the squad players a run and the returning playing looking for match fitness. Ozil is a new man and looking rather buff, lets see if his added gym work makes any difference, I still say if he had a ball winner next to him we’ll see the best from him.

Theo is sure to get a run out and Akpom has been mentioned to start as well. Campbell am sure will feature and maybe even the new kid Bielik. Be good to see exactly how strong the squad is if we are going to rest a lot of the so called first 11.

That’s all for today, have a good one.

    Morning all, just.
Often the ‘second’ eleven perform better than the 1st team. I wonder why?

Arsene knows……..??? B…..? Best or bugger all? We shall see tomorrow!

  2. potter says:

And the record goes round and round , rumours and counter rumours . Who knows what to think . Just look forward to the match and give some fringe players an outing but make sure we win otherwise those players are unlikely to get another game this season , which is why losing to Southampton was a blow to their ambitions..

  3. Wath says:

Agree there Potter, the rumors are something to laugh at but winning tomorrow is no laughing matter it’s a must…!

  4. tsgh says:

    Good afternoon lady…

Please don’t go pinching Kevin from my BVB 😉

I consider him the German James Milner.. industrious and exactly what we need but as BVB is struggling so.. 😮
Talking of Milner, Shitty were wiling to sell him to us during this window apparently until we beat them last weekend. Pelle’ now wants to keep him even though books have to be balanced…

  5. Marinello says:

Any 11 that is selected tomorrow should comfortably beat Brighton but this is the FA cup..,. I fancy a 3-0 victory, and hopefully another good run in the cup.

  6. Marinello says:

I read that Diaby has to have another minor operation to surgically remove the treatment table from his back…..

  7. agirlagunner says:

Well, if the Brighton captain’s words are anything to go by, we should expect to be kicked from pillar to post. Tsk. 🙂

I am greedy WATH, one Alexis-type; and two Ray Parlors would be great. 😀

  8. Wath says:

    Afternoon Marinello, hope you’re well.
Yep I can see us winning well with a 2nd string hungry to impress, let’s hope so anyway…!

  9. BT62 Gooner says:

Wath, had a mate round Thursday, his son done his cruciate ligament 5k+ to put right.

    Afternoon all….

  10. Marinello says:

    Hi Agag and Wath,
Lets hope that we come away with a fine win and no further injuries.
    Hows life treating you Wath?
    You okay Agag?
Reckon that the only deal that Diaby will be offered by another team is a pay when you play.
Such a shame as he had so much going for him before the first big injury. Football can be a cruel business if one gets an injury. Still he will not have to worry about money after he packs up.

  11. agirlagunner says:

    Sounds like a plan, WATH. 😉 Unfortunately, it won’t be AW’s. 😀

We should have cut our losses with Diaby; what he’s been paid is really money down the drain.

I am well, Marinello. Hope you are, too.

Hiya, BT. It sounds ouch, too. 🙁

  12. Wath says:

All good this end Marinello hope you are keeping well.
Yes life cruel but he certainly won’t have any financial worries that’s for sure and a career ended by Dan smith the brick is…. Says it all.

    Lot of cash that Bt….

  13. allezkev says:

The team selection tomorrow, is gonna be interesting…

No need to rest too many, with a full weeks break before our next game.
And a replay we certainly don’t need..!

So, I’m thinking, put out a near to strongest XI available…

Walcott and Ozil’s inclusion allows for Sanchez n Cazorla to be rested…

Otherwise, Chambers I suppose, Gibbs defo, all seniors…

    Akpom also…

  14. Marinello says:

All good this end Agag and Wath.
Cambridge did well last night. Just goes to show that its not all about money.
Hunger for a win sometimes makes up for lack of a big wage and wanting to put
one over on the cash rich players.
Hope against Brighton that we don’t go out just expecting to turn up and win. Brighton will be up for this game. It is their Cup final.

  15. Marinello says:

I agree Kev. Need to kick on from last weeks great performance against City.
They reckon that Sanchez wants to play in every match. What a great attitude and a great
role model to youngsters coming into the game.

  16. Wath says:

Will Beilik be on the bench, will Jack be on the bench, will Akpom start instead of Giroud…
Def a few decisions to be made, Theo n Ožil def need a run

  17. BT62 Gooner says:

Agag, painful yes,he’s on the books of a local top club, forging a promising career, talk of trials in England. We went to see him play for a local county team against a Spuds youth team few years back, more than held his own in midfield, ended 1-1.

  18. BT62 Gooner says:

Marinello, yes we are in the U.K, the NHS over here is at breaking point, like must places.I think he would be on a long waiting list.Recently some hospitals were only doing emergency ops and most non emergency were put back. Private, quick but expensive….

  19. agirlagunner says:

Hello, Kev. How’s driving? Don’t you be hitting the shops again!!

BT, I hope it’s not too long before he recovers. Hospitals anywhere in the world charge atrocious fees.

Can’t wait to see whether Ozil’s gym work has indeed made him tougher.

  20. allezkev says:

That’s right Marinello, gotta take the FACup seriously.
Our only realistic chance of silver wear, and another couple of days out to Wembley would be nice…

  21. allezkev says:

    Hiya Agag…

You gotta luv them there shops buddy. 😉
Back On the saving vibe now… 🙁

    Hey Adam, how’s things mate?

Hi BT, Wath and Marinello of course…

  22. Wavy says:

Sirnogoals scores one (deflected) and makes one for Jamshack! Only goes to show he truly is the son of Wenger! A misquote from a Kirk Douglas Epic biblical film of the late 50’s or early 60’s. About the death of Christ. The title of the film eludes me. WATH or Kev or the quiz man Potter will know!! Lol

  23. agirlagunner says:

We might go far in the Champions League, Kev. 😛 But of course, you’re right, can’t afford to be complacent tomorrow.

I’m back to saving, too. Ack! 🙁

How many times are we going to hear about Ronaldo almost signing for Arsenal? How many? Non news, and it’s still being written about!!

Adam, it seems always cold in London. But gald to hear it’s sunny. 😛

  24. eduardo says:

agirlagunner how would we have saved money by “cutting our losses with Diaby”, what ever wages we have paid him would have had to be paid to him in full even if we de-listed him, we are obliged to pay him in full for entirety of length of his contract, even if he agreed to leave us.

  25. Adam says:

Agag. Not always cold but in comparison to your homeland, almost always. Actually, I think that London looks at its best in this weather as you might find out WHEN you come to see us. 🙂

  26. allezkev says:

Agag, it truely is a glorious sunny day in London Town, and not too cold for the time of year…

    Champions League buddy?!!!

    Not under Wenger…
He just isn’t lucky in Europe…
Never has been, never will be…

  27. agirlagunner says:

eduardo, we should not have renewed his contract. 😉

Not this year, Adam. 🙁 But it will happen, I’m sure. 🙂 Erm, I hope at least. You’re right though, here it is almost always humid.

  28. agirlagunner says:

Wow, hahahaha, 4-2 now. I wonder what the Poison Dwarf will say about this match. And I understand Man Citeh are also trailing v. Middlesbrough in stoppage time…

  29. allezkev says:

Scum out, what a bloody day…

It don’t get much better than this….

Strong team at Brighton tomorrow, no messing about….

  30. Wavy says:

The FIX is in!! Chelsea ……….gone……..ManCity……..gone……….it must be manure’s year. Where’s the fixer? Who is he?
If we go tomorrow too I shall start believing that football is bent, and I dontmean Darren!
Spuds have gone as well and I think Soton have too! The results just don’t stack up…..

Thanks Kev. I knew you’d know! I watched after lunch one Sunday afternoon, with my mumand dad….it lasted forever. Almost had me believing in the son of God! But, common sense and Darwin prevailed

  31. Joe says:

Seems anyone can beat man city 2-0 these days 😉
Not sure I have ever seen a day like this in the FA cup before top 3 teams out plus the spuds come on Bolton.

  32. Joe says:

Interesting to see what the media say about the greatest team in England after they lost a 2-0 lead then went on to lose 2-4 to a team in the 3rd tier.

  33. potter says:

The greatest story ever told ? Don’t think Kirk Douglas was in it but John Wayne had a cameo as a centurian who stood at the bottom of the crucifix and in his best true grit cowboy accent said :-“” Shirley he waas a maaan of gauad””. Douglas was in Quo Vadis and 20000 league under the sea. But old movies is not really my strength but if you visit my 87 year lod mother in law , you have to sit through them.

  34. Joe says:

Crystal Palace are the highest placed team in the PL that are guaranteed to have reached the next round of the FA cup.

  35. Marinello says:

Special one went into Bradford changing room after the match and shook each of the players hands. He said that he felt ashamed after his teams performance. Loving it!
Let’s hope we come out of the traps straight off tomorrow. After today’s results, we do not want any upsets at the seaside tomorrow.
    Looking forward to MOTD later.
    Palace are on a roll.

  36. Wavy says:

Potter you are quite right. Surprising really, not that you were right but, that Kirk Douglas was not in the film because every other matinee idle appeared. Charlton Heston I think it was who uttered the immortal words,”he truly was the son of God”

I have an analogy to draw here but I think it may be deemed too irreligious, so I’ll hold my fingers and thoughts at this point, but it had a great deal to do with ????

  37. AndrewH says:

Evening house, not going to gloat until we have played tomorrow, then hopefully for rest of week!

    Just on Sky:

    BREAKING NEWS

Villarreal have confirmed an agreement is in place for defender Gabriel Paulista to join Arsenal. As part of the deal Joel Campbell will go the opposite way on a loan until the end of the season.

We’ll bring you more info when we have it.

  38. potter says:

So Campbell won’t be risked tomorrow and maybe Akpom might get some time.

Being a perfectionist, George Stevens did many takes of John Wayne’s single line, “Truly, this man was the son of God.” A rumor has long persisted that at one stage Stevens pleaded with Wayne to show more emotion, an overwhelming sense of awe. During the next take, Wayne changed the line to, “Aw, truly this man was the son of God.”

Except…..Bradford fans sticking it to the Chavs with “Mourinho’s right, your fans are shite, Mourinho’s right, your fans are shite” hahahahaha

  40. allezkev says:

You couldn’t really ask for more, as an Arsenal fan…

Tottenham, Southampton, Chelsea and Man City out of the FACup…

Liverpool facing a fixture pile-up and a tricky replay at the Reebok (or whatever they call it now).
Easier when it was Burnden Park…

Man Ure facing a tricky replay against Cambridge, but they should get past them at Old Bog…

So, as long as the Gunners don’t do anything stupid, we could possibly only have to worry about Man Ure this season in the Cup?!

  41. allezkev says:

A week or so ago, I thought that the game at Brighton represented a perfect opportunity to give some of our fringe 1st teamers and youth players a run out in major game…
Especially as I didn’t expect Arsenal to enjoy the kind of luck again, that they enjoyed last season, when all our big rivals put each other out and Arsenal had a run of good fortune with successive home draws…

  42. allezkev says:

Well the picture has changed somewhat, with all those high-profile casualties and now I think that Wenger shouldn’t take any chances and go with the strongest team he can…
Whilst only resting maybe 3 or 4 maximum, and replacing them with like for like quality.

Therefore Akpom on the bench for me and a bench full mostly on internationals…

AOC and Bellerin have slight knocks and can be rested imo.
Other than that, I’d go with our best available XI

  43. allezkev says:

    My team would be thus:

Szczesny, Chambers, Gibbs, BFG, Koscielny, Coquelin, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Giroud, Walcott….

    Subs;

Martinez, Monreal, Rosicky, Flamini, Cazorla, Akpom, Zelalem…

    What do you lot think?

  44. Marinello says:

As Kev mentioned earlier, they have a week to recover. Not too many changes and keep the momentum and winning mentality from city game going.

  45. allezkev says:

    Morning All…

    Morning Scott/Marinello

Rico, I see that Master Coquelin isn’t rushing to sign his new contract.
No doubt his agent (quite sensibly) is telling him to wait and see, with the boot being on the other foot…

So, no rest for Master Coquelin imo, play him every game, use him while he is ‘hot’…
And what will be, will be, in the summer.

  46. rico says:

    Morning Kev.

Just been writing about the Coq situation… I don’t blame him….

The dwarfs dig at Arsenal didn’t pay off yesterday did it. He ‘it would be disgrace to lose to Bradford’ was clearly a swipe about our previous defeat to them…

  47. rico says:

I’d feel quite aggrieved if I was Pellegrini, two penalty decisions not given and one was a dreadful decision after Aguero was pulled over..

  48. potter says:

When we finally beat him we can laugh out loud, until then it’s just a quiet smile at their misfortune in private.

  49. Wavy says:

    Morning everybody everywhere.
Le Coq situation and his contract reminds me of Flamini gate. When he too was out of contract having been messed about by Wenger, picked one week, dropped the next, he only got a run of games when Cole was injured and sidelined for ever. Wenger, at the end of the season said I’m off now to save my squad, meaning trying to get Flamini to sign da ting. He didn’t, probably because his career was likely to be that of a bit part player and he went to Milan, where he became a ‘bit part player’. Well that was no surprise was it? It was a surprise that he re- signed! He too has again become a ‘bit part player’ he’ll be of again shortly!

Le Coq finds himself in a similar position. Contract running down, sent here there and everywhere, never a first team regular, until now! A little bit too late imo, he’ll want guarantees but he won’t get any! I think he’ll delay and delay for as long as possible. If he thinks he’s going to be sidelined he’ll leave, if he thinks wenger will not replace him with another DM he’ll sign da ting, but if the only promise is the occasional game he’ll go!

Given his history, I think I would be reluctant to sign a new contract, having been messed about for so long!

We’ll just have to wait and see, but I don’t think he will be tied down to Arsenal just yet, if at all! And the search will go on!

  50. rico says:

Like Kev says Wavy, play him and see what happens…

I’m not convinced he’s the right player anyway, not yet….. He’s just showing he’s better than Flamini and probably Arteta…
