Morning all…
Well if some of the reports in the media are true, then yes, its really possible.
This story has been rumbling away and the latest update suggests that David Villa is ready to ask his club to let him move to London for the sake of his career, one which hasn’t got too many years left to it.
Barca also still owe us money from Alex Song’s summer transfer according to The Daily Mail so this story could turn out to have a little more to it.
But, Wenger needs to gets his backside into gear if he truly wants Villa as that lot down the road are interested in signing him and they won’t hang around. The other option of course seems to be Adrian Lopez but he’s got a £14 million release clause in his contract, and we all know that’s a lot of money for Arsene!
Surely the club have to seriously be looking at a goal scorer though, especially now our top striker Chamakh has been allowed to move to West Ham. Sadly it’s only a loan but who knows what the future holds for him…
With Johan Djourou and Squillaci likely to leave, Wenger is now reported to be looking at West Bromwich defender Jonas Olsson. Despite Clarke insisting he is going nowhere having not long signed a new contract, it’s suspected that a £3 million release clause was included in that deal.
That’s a price Wenger likes!!
Not quite in black and white but…..
It bothers me when we don’t win trophies because I’m not here to watch other people win them.
It’s important for us to give our best on Sunday, but let me remind people I have won the FA Cup four times.
It’s not pleasant that people talk about eight years without a trophy, but the only way to do something about it is to win.
Eight years without a trophy would be hard to stomach wouldn’t it but it’s not about the trophies these days, it’s about not looking or playing like a team/squad who are capable of breaking that drought.
As for the ‘I have won it four times’ comment. Maybe that’s half the problem, the manager needs to stop looking back on what he has done and start looking at would he could be doing.
Living in the past is not the way forward Arsene but then that’s probably half of our clubs problem…..
Wenger’s comments about this transfer window being a ‘very calm one’ suggests he’s not about to get too involved in it but there is rumour around this morning that we have agreed a deal for MLS striker C. J. Sapong.
He was born on December 27, 1988 in Manassas, Virgin and currently plays for Sporting Kansas City.
Surely that has to be a big fat fib!!
That’s it for another day, have a good one….
hope the Villa dream becomes a reality, He’s the type of player that would hit the ground running , and I’ve already envisaged the partnership he would have with Cazorla….this is a mouthwatering prospect!
Morning all…
Maybe Villa is flying in for a medical at Qpr 😉
The MLS story is a bit of a worry….
I’m a bit worried that instead of offloading the deadwood we’re simply loaning them out for 6 months, plus we’re still paying a portion of the wages. At least its a step in the right direction?
Why does he always think he knows everything??
Arsène Wenger expects a “very calm” transfer window – at least in the first couple of weeks.
The Arsenal manager has declared an interest in strengthening his squad before the end of January and, as ever, has been linked with a long list of potential signings.
Ultimately, Wenger feels a lack of transfer funds across football will affect the degree of movement among players.
“[I’m expecting it to be] very calm because, first of all, I believe there is little money and what can happen is basically a transfer market within the English clubs,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“That is more difficult than with the foreign clubs. Overall, I believe that not a lot will happen.
“That [the economic situation] could [affect movement], because the clubs have to look at the finances. What makes the clubs are the fans and what makes the fans is the economy. On that front, nobody is really sure what will happen in 2013.”
But Wenger believes there is no shortage of quality available, especially with a number of experienced players available on free transfers at the end of the season.
“A lot [are] over 30,” he said. “Of course, they are all great players. They have proven that.
“It shows that the market will be more difficult for the players because the fact that you have so many top-quality players available means that [the clubs] are cautious as well.”
Farooq – its a start and gets rid of the wage, or at least a chunk of it…
They are probably just elsewhere running their contract down ready for a free move…
Morning Rico. Surely Lopez is younger, doesn’t have such a bad injury record and most importantly for Wenger, has a sell-on value. Villa was a great player. Is he still a great player?
Somehow a shadow of gloom seems to be settling over our club, or am I wrong in that observation!
Rico. Your 10.10. Why does he even feel the need to comment on these things at all apart from the fact that he has become Mr Bummer? Secondly, if things are as he says then surely it becomes a buyers market where clubs with money can get good deals. He is Arsenal’s conscience too now.
Morning Adam.
Shadow of gloom, surely not – more like doom and gloom….
I’d love to see Villa sign, he’d score goals for fun but I can see where you are coming from.
The perfect solution is Villa on loan and sign Lopez…
I get the feeling rico wenger prepearing us for a couple of old faces.
It won’t happen. I hate arsenal
I don’t get it either, he’s always had an opinion on everything. I know he has some kind of GCSE in economics but…
And totally agree, he should be exploiting what is going on elsewhere, not sitting on his lazy backside talking about it….
What about proper defenders Rico or someone in CM to hold our iffy defence in check so we don’t look in imminent danger of conceding from every speculative punt up the pitch?
its amazing to see villa on the emirate stadium, wenger make happy to fans.
You could be right fred after his ‘over 30’ comment, talk about from one extreme to the other….
Many over 30’s will be like Squlli, he best get it right….
That’s nice then Collyzo….
Collyzo. Thanks for that. Most enlightening.
He did say he expected a very busy January Rico…..
I’ll leave the punch line to others.
Don’t get me started on that Adam 😉
A defence minded midfielder should be the first one in the door and should have been in by now in my opinion.
Morning all,
Nice one Rico.
I have to say that after half a season gone and how we have played in the first half, i can see no way we can add another trophy to our record. This team are just not good enough that has been proved by the way we have played. Players like Wilshere and Oxlaid chamberlain have not turned out as i would have liked, resonable players but far from great our goalkeeper is not good enough and i dont see him getting much better. Koshelney Vermaelen and Per Mertsacker are average Defenders and are a long way off top defenders, Arteta Coquelin are average Cazorla also average Giroud Is below average Podolski walcott gervinho also average players Sagna and Gibbs hardly top quality, And a manager that doesn’t see our problems. An owner who is silent a chairman that puts his foot in it whenever he can and our 30% shareholder mixing it whenever he can. Trophies I think not. A mid table team run by as a midtable club with no plans.
Good morning all,
Like the post Rico,
Busy day ahead, unexpected visitor arriving in thirty minutes, Pantomime this afternoon with the grandchildren, curry and a few beers this evening.
Have a nice day all of you.
Hi Sp and thanks.
You are feeling quite optimistic for the future then? 😉
I tend to disagree a tad. The players aren’t the real problem, it’s just the squad as a whole lack in certain areas. In my view, those area are:
DM (kind of guy)
GK
Versatile defender who can play left sided
Goal scorer.
Hi JW, thanks – you have a wonderful day too…
Interesting post Rico.
Would Villa be on a loan deal? Can only imagine what his wage is….
But yes I agree, the type of player that would hit the ground running and make an instant difference.
On another note about the deadwood players, it must be difficult trying to convince players to leave a warm subs bench seat, when they are on £50k a week, and move off for maybe a lesser wage. Lets hope that Arsene has learned from his mistakes in paying mediocre players good money but getting no return on the investment.
With regards the Swansea game, I do not get good vibes. Their bargain buy striker Michu, is currently banging them in for fun…. He makes late runs into the box, and with out pathetic zonal marking, mixed with players not cutting out danger, but looking to others to do it, he will prove a handful.
If Wenger does throw the towel in, I would quite like Laudrup to take over…..
Surely he’d be better off organising our transfers, that we desperately need. He seems to poke his nose into everyone else’s business and not concentrate on the job in hand. I seriously think that he’s ill….. I was watching ESPN classics this morning 2001/2002 season I seriously doubt any of our current starting 11 would get in that side. The decline is embarrassing, we won’t get the top 4 trophy if we don’t add some quality……
Syrup out.
Steve. A damning half-term from you mate. Do I sense a change in outlook?
Actually and somewhat surprisingly, I think some of our players are better than that, but they are playing as individuals with little team ethic. Look at the way Everton function. We have better players but they are all over the place for me. The ball moves back and sideways then back, into midfield, sideways, then back. There is no movement and not a single proper winger at the club to open the play and stretch the opposition. Where the on-field drive comes from eludes me as I see none.
Hi Rico, In my view if we were to challenge for trophies we would have the players you are asking for in place now. But you know as well as me that the end of the window will maybe produce a player, maybe not,But that does not sound like a club hunting for victories.
Thanks Marinello,
Not sure re Villa – all I know is what the press/media write and that is guesswork I suspect.
A loan would be best imho, with Barca paying some of his wages but I suspect it will come to nothing..
Laudrup looks good at the moment, let’s see how his first season ends though..
Mark Hughes looked good once for half a season 😉
well well well! Its my first time commenting here…nice post rico. And to what we have today…villa won’t sign neither is adrian or m’villa. I have pretty known wenger and his shrewed spending habits…we will all be hoping but @ the end of the day the more serious minded clubs wik cash in and have the players…#SWANSEA 2 ARSENAL 1# HAVE A NICE DAY PALS, NIGERIA IS ONE HOUR LESS THAN THE TIME IN UK
Morning Lee. He has become The Ghost Of Trophies Past. A grey spectre, wagging his finger in admonishment at all who do not see the world through his darkly tinted, negative glasses.
Hi Lee,
Turn it off 🙁
Maybe its just me, but I believe that the standard of football in general, in the EPL has dropped dramatically over the past 2 seasons. I believe that on a good day all the top four teams can come a cropper from teams below them. Although United are at the top, I do not think that they are playing the type of football that blows teams away, and some of their results have been a tad fortunate.
Sp,
I agree totally, but that is where most of my blame sits. The board and manager for being so lacklustre and the way they are operating must filter down into the dressing room and onto the pitch….
Marinello. I agree and that makes our sad decline all the more upsetting.
The defending certainly has, it’s shocking at most clubs. Have to agree though, and Ts has said it before, this league isn’t what it used to be….
I blame the money, it’s all too easy for them….
I hear what you are saying Rico about Laudrup, but he is certainly getting his team to play the way he used to play, a passing game,
with high tempo, with the ball moved forward quickly and in the opponents half of the pitch.
Hughes appears to have lost the hunger…. Maybe all the money that he has earned, has made him less hungry.
I remember when Steve Bould became coach, many of us thought and believed that he could knock our defence into shape, it hasn’t really got that much better. But then he was a natural defender as a player, and is having to coach the majority of the defence that are not natural defenders…..
Rico. You are sounding like George Graham there. 🙂
Any pre match predictions on the Swansea result?
Morning Adam,
You may be right Adam, i have seen pittyfull displays from our players. I could blame just about everybody in the club for what is happening but i choose to blame the talent on the field. Quality players can pass a ball, half decent players can mark, reasonable players know how to advance. our players find it dificult to do any of these things let alone multi tasking. They are an embarresment to the supporters who still turn out in their thousands even away, they deserve players who looklike they care, ours dont.
I’m a bit worried because totts were signed a good player and want Moutinho also, maybe in summer. With him, toots will be very strong. Moreover, the wages are much more low then ours and they had played better then us during this half a season (or more).
We didn’t win anythyng since 8 years ago bit we we had been in two finals and always in the CL. This year, will be very diffcult the CL and a dream rech a final.
I agree too Marinello, strip the Dutchman out of that team and where would they be? It makes my blood boil the way Arsenal have systematically sold our best players…..The syrup can seriously fuck right off, go fuck your franchises up in the good old U.S of A,and leave us alone.
😆 Adam, he wouldn’t have let this lot defend the way they are, that’s for sure…
Lee. Don’t sit on the fence mate. Tell us what you really think. 🙂
Adam, I agree with your character assessment of Wenger, but then looking at him fiddling with his coat zip, and sitting hunched on the bench, not really communicating much with Bould, he doesn’t look too healthy. Maybe the weight of the huge salary that pours into his Bank account each month is taking its toll in terms of the worry, of how he could possibly spend all this money when he retires…..
Adam, we can talk about this player or that until we’re blue in the face, is AW the right man to be purchasing them or managing them? WATH posted a list of players that should be binned yesterday, conservatively it was £450k pw, salaries for three top players?!?!
Marinello. Every man has his time. It is the nature of things. Knowing when to go requires courage and not a small amount of humility. Living in the past is not an option and this is another area where the board is failing the club and the supporters.
Depends who Wenger selects Marinello and whether or not they ‘turn up’…
Lee. I am with you 100%. Syrup Out. Jabba In. 🙂
SOJI.
Blaming the pitch, officials, tiredness and how well the opposition played is all bollocks, get yourself a mirror Arsene and take long hard look……
With regards Wenger and the wealth that he has massed over the years, maybe with such wealth, it breeds arrogance and a swagger that he feels that he is untouchable at Arsenal. There doesn’t appear anyone on the Board who is not happy with the trophy less years… But then they are not on the Board for that, its to get the share price up, and if Stan leaves, they will cash in when the next owners turns up with a fat cheque book.
Such a shame, when I think back over the 48 years that I have attended Arsenal games, apart from the Billy Wright era, I have never felt so depressed at the current state of affairs at the club.
SOJI works for me Adam. If he can’t motivate these millionaires anymore then he needs to go, imho.
Go Lee, Go Lee 😆
Totally agree, wholeheartedly….
SOJI it is then, the first official HH abbreviation…..
I share your pain Marinello, along with many on here!
Can’t stop thinking about the quality of the DB10 goal of the season (2001/2) that was on ESPN this morning…..loads of great memories came flooding back!! 🙁
The sooner that pay cheque day comes the better Marinello…
That one against Newcastle Lee, most players wouldn’t have even thought about doing what he did, let alone actually try it and make it work…
What a beauty….
NigerianGooner, your prediction could be correct. If it is, watch Wenger come out with the same old clap trap about “We were a little nervous, a bit cautious in the first half, we took the handbrake off in the 2nd half but we were caught on the break, and a bit unlucky to lose.”
Pires and Freddie got a few that season, Henry the golden boot…..and we’re shitting ourselves about losing Walcott! How the mighty have fallen?
Welcome Ng..
Morning JM, never thought we’d start to be worrying about them. What a sad state of affairs…
Put like that Lee, it really is dire..
Lee 11.30: Ha ha but spot on. The papers talk about Theo as a fringe player….. Pires was let go too early, another stupid short sighted error by Wenger. He only wanted a 2 year deal. Remember his awkward running style, feet at quarter to three, but what a player, what a team……
Squillaci must have thought all his Christmas’s had rolled into one when he signed his deal at Arsenal. £50k a week, £2.4m a year for 3 years, I heard he muttered when signing his contract “Come to Daddy.”
Marinello 11.15 .. :-“”But then they are not on the Board for that, its to get the share price up, and if Stan leaves, they will cash in when the next owners turns up with a fat cheque book.””
You have seen the problem Marinello , however you are too late. They have already done that. They made their pile when they sold all of their shares to Kroenke. As it stands apart from The syrup no-one on the board has any financial interest in the well being of the club other than taking their annual fees , as such it matters little to them how the team performs.
If Stan doesn’t want to sell it’s time for him to wake up , find a new broom and sweep this bunch of old codgers out of the club and bring in people with incentives to do well. Until he does it’s stagnation.
Morning all , I was close to a typo there , I nearly called Stan….. Satan.
Pls arsenal board members tell de economist 2 buy playaz in dis window,or do u want the almity arsenal 2 fall pls do smetin fast.
Hi all,
I still think Jack would work harder and fit better in Santi’s role and get a great tackling ball passing box to box mid to mix it up with Arteta like Song did, a type of Viera. Diaby would’ve been perfect but he’s way too unreliable.
Villa earns too much for him to be viable.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Diame or Sissoko coming in the cm.
I guess Olsson is not a bad option either to bring in.
I thought I heard Squilli mutter ‘suckers’ the day he signed…
Morning Potter, have none of our current board have any shares??
Apart from the American of course
Welcome A10.
Sissoko is meant to be the mutts nutts isn’t he? Diame is more probable and at least we know he’s used to the PL. Only problem is he injury and is he off to the Acon’s?
morning all…
Good post Rico as always considering all the glum hanging around our club like a bad smell…
Rico :- No they all sold out , which is why PHW’s remarks thanking actual shareholders for their interest in “” Our Club “” even more fatuous.
am arsenal fan,but from de look of things i dnt tink wenger will sign dis january even in june.wenger must be very stupid for playing wid our heart
Thanks Ts…
I am amazed SK has kept them in a job then Potter
Djourou agrees loan move to Hannover 96
Johan Djourou will join side Hannover 96 on loan for the remainder of the 2012/13 season, subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
The Switzerland international has featured 144 times for Arsène Wenger’s side in all competitions since making his first-team debut in a 2-1 League Cup victory against Manchester City in October 2004.
A valuable squad member throughout this time, the 25-year-old showed his versatility last season when moved from his favoured central defensive position to deputise at right back for long spells.
In Djourou’s two senior appearances this term, he has captained Arsenal to Capital One Cup victories over Coventry City and Reading.
Everyone at Arsenal would like to wish Johan well for his time in Germany.
one more…
I’ve asked yesterday… Have we 16 players fit for tomorrow?
Newcastle 1-0 down to Brighton….
I think so JM
Arsenal are always Saturn months behind when it comes to transfers….
Johan had his medical on Thursday evening. They should stop treating the fans like a bunch of slaves on a farm. Why did AW say the progress of the deal will be known in the next 48 to 72 hours when Johan was already on his way to Germany…
how long has it taken the club to announce?
just saw this on twitter:
BREAKING: David Villa signs for Villa; Antonio Valencia signs for Valencia; Nile Ranger signs for Rangers & Danny Shittu signs for Liverpool.
They never announce anything until its signed and sealed Ts…
🙂 Will…
yes rico, but who will be in th bench? We haven’t djourou,AA,Gervinho, diaby,Squillacci,Chamack,Manne, fabianky… usually bench players.
Newcastle down to ten after a dreadful piece of cheating by a Brighton player – cheats…
This Yank player, does he have a work permit?
If not, then what is the effin point???
This is when some of the reserves will feature JM, the likes of Eisfeld, Akpom, Gnabry, Miquel etc etc and they’ll probably fight a bit harder than some of the first team…
Serge is still recouping from ankle issues… I think
Re C. J. Sapong, is AW trying trying to create a Ghanaian core or a British core? lol Frimps, Boateng, Ansah …
Afternoon Ak, what Kroenke 😉 😉
I don’t believe the story about the munch-kin 🙂
Thanks Ts, was just listing a few, forgot he’s injured..
Really hope Eisfeld is on the bench…
Kev knowing AW, C.J probably has the option through parental links to have a British passport. At 24 y.o that is a huge gamble for …
But we now have space for non-homegrown player now that MC is gone… JD was homegrown so…
@ will… LooooL…=)
Brighton 2-0!
newcastle 2-0 down. my mrs is having a fit… lol
Newcastle are out of the FA Cup, they are losing 2-0 with 5 mins to go….
Is she a geordie Ts? 😉
Afternoon Rico, your 1.54 makes a lot of sense.
I’d rather our youngsters are on the bench rather than those who are an ulcer on our wage bill.
Afternoon Gooners.
Villa to the Spuds? M’Vila to the Spuds?
Would that really suprise anyone???
Hi Tlail…
Eisfield definite deserves a chance. In fact I think he has become stronger than Holtby now…
No surprise at all Ak, is a young AVB managing a London club a better prospect than an ageing, out of touch oldie..?
And he already knows what the PL is about…
Off for an hour…..
The kids never let us down. In fact when it comes to the cup competition whenever the oldies play we lose… 2007 and 2010 Carling cup finals…
I would not lose sleep on losing Holtby at all. In fact I would have been worried if we had an agreement with Eisfield and Serge on the books… He is no improvement on the Ox. Don’t get me wrong he is an extremely talent player but as I have said on a few occasions he is a luxury player who if I am not wrong has completed less than 20% of the games he has started in. Considering the position he plays in that is not good enough imho…
ok, but from where the money come? How can Totts have so much money for spend and compete with the clubs in CL and with strong sponsors?
Chelsea are definitely piggy backing on Arsenal transfer targets. They wait for us to identify a talent then simply out bid us on price and salary = Mata, Cahill, Marin, Hazard and now Ba.
They tried with OG12…
JM, they just sold Modric for a ton of money. Plus Van der Vaart.
JM, for starters the spuds do not have a women’s football team plus no meaningful academy compared to us…
The only reason the scums are pushing the boat out for new recruits is to have a foundation before they sort out their stadium situation. What they will then do in future is copy us by selling the players at a profit to consolidate their budget…
Lets not envy them at all… In fact they have outspent us since 2000 and even started to go French by signing Ginola etc in the early 2000’s..
watching arsenal fa cup highlights on espn intl. the fluidity we used to have is definitely missing. we used to rotate positions quickly and constantly in midfield.
Where has that gone?
Ts, when it comes to the spuds it’s simple… they have Joe Lewis, he spends……!
Afternoon all…!
” JM, they just sold Modric for a ton of money. Plus Van der Vaart.”
Your not suggesting a policy of reinvesting transfer funds are you ??
Because some of our English players are not technical enough… Will
Look at someone like Ox on the field, he never listens or track back. Remember the chavs defeat when Kos was telling Ox to do something and he completely ignored him and then it led to the first and second goal…
Last weekend how many times did we see Sagna ask Ox for help and got nothing but the fans would rather say Sagna is rubbish…
Additionally, Theo does not put the work in that OG12 does upfront. Maybe it is to do with lack of competition but when did AFC become so pathetic that a player who 9 months ago most English pundits were saying he should be playing for a team like AV become our saviour…
Hi WATH… very interesting especially as he rumoured to be worth nearly £2.5B now.
But they or Levy is a better sales man than DD ever was…If you compare the sale of Carrick, Defoe, Bent and Berbatov that is good business whilst we sold our main stars to teams who pay in installments. We also lost players like Kanu and Wiltord on a free. We have always been bad dealers with or without DD.
If you consider that the board where willing to sell RVP for anything above £10M until AW stepped in according to Fergie…
Potter, its merely an observation. I wouldnt want to offend the Arsenal board with such a suggestion.
tsgh, I agree with your entire 2:53 post.
We fans do not realise why the board never invest…
They would rather take a low risk by buying a Yao at 8 to 10 million pounds than invest in a single £25M player…
How is a team that has never won anything in 8 years now worth £1.1 billion pounds? Is the stadium sitting on an un-mined gold reserve? In actual terms the club is probably worth £700M but what I am trying to say is that in 7 years we have gone from being worth £240M to nearly £800M whilst the team we all envy is worth a stunning $2.24 billion, according to the latest valuations by Forbe.
In July 2010 Arsenal was worth £650 million and manure was worth £1 billion…
But if you convert the value £2.2 billion to GBP, they are probably only £300M up on our value. So how is a team with an international fan base 10 times ours at least in the far east and arguable the 2nd most successful club in Europe in the last 10 years not increased by much and we have?

The simple answer is cash reserve. So we can moan as much as we want but imho nothing will change and I do not see any other manager that will be able to get as much value for money as AW. Talking of stuck between a rock and a hard place …
I’m not suggesting anything, but the reality is this: they are preparing for paying more then 50.000 millions for João Moutinho. They sold Motic and VDW but how many players they buy after that? start in the goalkeeper until the last player…
don’t forget: they aren’t in CL for a long time; WHL haven’t our capacity and so on and they compete directly with teams in the CL (MU,Chelsea,Arsenal…) and with much money (M.City, chelsea…) with big sponsors. Or Levy has so much money than Abramovitch ? or the Arabs partners of M.City?
they have what? diamonds? Petrol?
Imagine when they are with regularity in the CL…
Ginge, I don’t see Podolski tracking back, I think it has more to do with coaching than technique.
Notice that Olsson isn’t in the squad for West Brom today.
Could be much a’do about nothing, or Olsson is the replacement for Djourou/Squillaci?
Not sure where that would leave Miquel?
Very interesting re Olson Ak.
I think if we had a RW who worked OCASSIONAL as hard as poldi on the RHS does we would be in a better position imho…
Even when Poldi has been anonymous in attack as on Tuesday he has always provided Gibbs support… I am just going by opta stats heat maps..
You would be right if you said Poldi did not track back all the time but compared to previous LW like Nasri and AA23 he is the best LW we have had since TR07 played there in his first season with TH14 before is injury…
Ba scored… one week ago it was almost an Arsenal player (the sentence it’s not mine)
Frankly Ginge, i’d rather Podolski was a lazy git, but had 10 EPL goals, instead of 5…
Saints-chelsea a completely different match comparing Saints-arsenal;we started strong and after 15 minutes soutmapton up; today, the opposite. Now 1-2
JM, if we fans are honest with ourselves we would notice that 8 out of 10 new recruits do not actual contribute to their new teams at all…
Lets look at manure as an example of their 4 main recruits last summer how many of them are contributing to their early season success? Only RVP. Kagawa, Powell, Butland etc are failures and that is a fact.
Lets look at Chelsea too; apart from Hazard and Oscar who else is contributing to the team?
And Mancity out of their 6 or 7 buys who is contributing?
Finally the scums too, apart from Dembele who is contributing to the team?
AW has done the best business again but it is not enough because we lost 2 of our most important players…
To my mind, Podolski is a striker, not a winger cum midfielder.
But hey, AW thought Bendtner was a winger…
Ts, very good point but most new recruits rarely hit the ground running normally takes at least half a season if not a full season for overseas players. We are paying the penalty for poor buts and lack of buys for the last 4/5 years on top of selling all our best players.
Ba scored the second… 1-4
Mans buy everything for compete between them; chelsea:Moses,Mata.Ba,the right back, the second goalkeeper,…
Totts:the goalkeepers, Dempsey,etc
and the others ? Haven’t lost important players too?
JM you re making me wanna rip my eyes out! stop stating the obvious. sheeesh, you re enough to make a man shit himself. God help us all.
Podolski shouldn’t have to be looking over his shoulder all the time , if we had a proper defensive midfielder he wouldn’t have too.
The other thing with the revenue streams and value Ts is we were so under valued when at Highbury, the Brand was under sold, the Brand and fane base far exceeded Highbury so there was always room for growth and value to the share price. We still have a huge Brand thats un tapped in many markets especially overseas and for me thats where our value comes from, if we were successful we’d be worth another 20% on current values thats for sure.
Hi goonster. the obvoius is the true and the realism. Unfortunately, Arsenal fans have the idea that we have a strong and good team. But we haven’t
Good day all.
On route to Oz, but managed to read the post.
‘Living in the past is not the way forward Arsene but then that’s probably half of our clubs problem’
Totally agree with this Rico. Stop going on about how much you did back then and start doing it now.
I see the chavs are showing exactly how much better than us they are today, well at least using saints as a barometer.
Come on you ‘Ammers 😉
Evening folks….
stay safe Lewis…
Afternoon Lewis, have a fab time in the sunshine, and keep a look out for Scott and Oz 😉
Can Chamack play?
0-1…
WATH I think you hit the nail on the head re revenue stream…
The crucial thing is we need a core of our players to stay and hopefully the current ones including MA08 will give us at least 2 more years.
Talking of a core of players where would the chavs have been if they had no ToM Terry, Lamps, Cashley, Ivanovic, Drogba and even Obi Mikel? Obi is hated even more by the chav fans than some of us hate Santos and Le Squid…
No JM, he wasn’t signed in time….
1-1 – great goal West Ham!
no JM.
Fergie plays Welbeck and Rooney on the wings. Alexis and Villa are played on the wings at chelsea…
The issue is that maybe most of our fans and some of our players think the same way… If Iniesta, Messi, RVP,Wooney, Oscar, Mata can all track back why do we make excuse for our wingers not to track back and help to defend?
What happened to we defend as a team and attack as a team? I find it a very excuse when fans make an justify SC19 poor performances by saying he is not meant to defend but then slated AA23.
Even VAn Basten and Gullit use to help out defensively…
Alexis and Villa are played on the wings at chelsea… at Barca I meant… 😉
No, MA08 are not able to play nother season with this intensity. 3 games play and he must be rest.
if i don’t know any better ginge, i would say you ve got a problem with santi? what happened bro? did he steal your family heirloom?
Hey goonie, never fear, I love the little man from Spain…
Back in a bit, off for dinner…
am not maam, i think ginge is though! i ll bet santi has in the past stolen his gremlins or something! hey ginge, come out in the open already. we re waiting.
WH 2-1 Two excellent crosses – Joe Coele
yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, come on you hammers! come on.
Evening all.
I have a problem with Santi Goonster, for me he’s not a number 10. He plays too deep and doesn’t/cannot tackle for that positioning, too scared and soft against a hard tackling DM, hardly ever in the box for the pull back or knock down or scramble.
RVP scored again at 90+1…..
You just knew he’d save them,…..
Evening…..
its getting really annoying watching that prick score in every game. what have we done??? Lord give me strength!
One day goonie, one day…..
We sold him very cheaper…
£24 million, bloody worth selling and banking that money wasn’t it…
Our board and anyone else who was involved in sanctioning that deal need chastising!!
Idiots!!
maam what we did was to strengthen a rival, not just a rival but a classless one. gosh i hate manure. syrup out! where’s lee?
i hear he’s been spouting shit about us fans not being patient, how the hell does he expect us to be patient? i almost shit myself when JM said the tiny totts are after moutinho yet we are stcuk with gerwanko and le squid! i mean what is in the water wenger and the board drinks??? i have had enough. wenger out! there i said it!
goonie, i hate everything about them too….
We should have kept him and let him go for free, thats if he really wanted out……
Haven’t heard him speak about Arsenal since he left Goonster, where did you read that??
That’s me for today…
Go steady whatever you are up to…
Night all…..
Early night for me. Early start in the morning. Coach leaves Arsenal at 7.15am. Before even Rico gets up… 😉
This competition is without doubt Wenger’s last chance of silver wear this season.
If and when Arsenal are eliminated, the season for me, will be at an end…
No matter how much bullshit Wenger gives us. No matter how many empty promises Gazides gives us. No matter how many juvenile interviews Hill-Wood gives to the Daily Crap. It won’t make a fig of difference. Out of the FACup means out of everything Arsenal are capable of winning.
Is Kroneke here? Has the Syrup landed? And what difference would it make anyway?
He isn’t interested in Arsenal, period…
Syrup Out…
Goodnight Gooners
Lewis, where in Oz are you headed??
Rico, surely you read RVP’s annoncement…how could you doubt for one second he didn’t want out??
Can anyone tell me how you keep a player that does not want to stay??
So a big part of todays discussion was on wingers who refuse to track back and work hard for the side.
Tomorrows discussion will surely be based on Ramsey working his arse off and tracking back for the side.
Oooooh to be a Gooner 🙂
4 new players in January is the word on the street.
He’s at it again…
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/291481/?
Err,you’re on £144k pw mate, get the mirror out you myopic twat!
SOJI.
Not really sure what there is to be cranky about Lee.
In my opinion, plenty of athletes are overpaid, even in the small market of Oz.Compare them to Cops,Nurses, Ambulance officers,Fireman etc, etc, etc, they are all overpaid.
Still, the market dictates it and clubs pay what they believe a player or its manager is worth.
Wenger answers a question and it is torn apart every time and its ridiculous.
Enough already.
Sorry Lee, i am just a bit over reading nothing but negative comments on Wenger.
Seriously, it is disappointing to see, but do we want HH to turn into Le Grove??
So Scott, it’s smart business not to pay RVP the salary he wanted, get 24m for him, spend it on 2 strikers that together earn more than RVP combined but score less goals, to fix that he wants to buy an old striker for 14m that probably wants more than RVP wanted and no guarantees of scoring or injury proness?
Surely Wenger deserves some stick there? Why must I support a man who manages Arsenal, I support Arsenal not Wenger FC
Bradster, where in those comments did i make a call on any particular move Wenger has made?
From everything we read, Wenger was over ruled on selling RVP.
Morning all…
New post is up guys
This is pathetic… What does rosicky have to do to get a game? Wenger has questions to answer. When a team plays poorly from august to january then the manager has questions to answer.
