All change for Ramsey & Arsenal fans owe old boys who never made it in London…

Hear no evil

Morning all.

New man Granit Xhaka has been talking to the Arsenal Player:

I spoke with [Nordtveit] about Arsenal and he told me it’s a big club, a family club and it’s very important for me to come here.

Philippe played here and I play with him in the national team. Johan and Philippe have only told me positive things.

Arsenal is Arsenal. It’s not a small club, it’s a very big club and it’s like a family. It’s very good for me because I love my family and to have another family here is very good.

Not one of those three players really flourished at Arsenal, Djourou was perhaps the better among them but apart from one god season, well half of a season, even he didn’t really cut it. Maybe if he’d played more often he’d have improved vastly but that’s something we’ll never know. It’s hard to believe he’s still only 29 years old and playing for both Hamburg and Switzerland. Philippe Senderos is also in the Swiss national squad but Nordtviet, despite impressing in the centre of midfield for his club, isn’t. He’ll be lining up against Arsenal next season after his move for free to West Ham so it’ll be interesting to see how he’s improved. Anyway, it’s always good to hear old players who didn’t quite make it, say nice things about Arsenal.

In fact, it’s not often we hear anything negative about Arsenal from ex-players about their time at the club. The odd few but not many. They might claim Arsene Wenger should have been more ambitious with his player signings but that’s nothing most of us would argue with and this summer, the early signing of Xhaka has certainly woken a few of us up, especially me. Arsenal being the first club to snap up such a quality player this summer, is not something which has happened too often over the last ten years.

But as we all know, he’s not enough, one midfielder is not going to improve our goal scoring tally, he’s not going to offer back up for Hector Bellerin no more than he’ll be able to bomb down the wings with pace to burn before crossing to Ollie, who’ll be stood out on the left wing, struggling to get into the box on time.

A good start by Arsene Wenger but I hope he’s not done yet, far from it…..

As expected, a few of the players are changing their squad numbers this summer, Alexis has already confirmed his and now Aaron Ramsey has done the same. He’ll now be wearing number 8 instead of 16. I just hope he doesn’t get the armband Mikel Arteta left behind too!

Finally, the under tall Portuguese man has been confirmed as the new Man Utd manager and I bet you didn’t see coming! He and Guardiola will renew their bitter rivalry, Big Sam will do all he can to park a 32 seater bus in front of the Sunderland goal when the two teams meet. The new Watford manager will be all out to get one over his mate and Conte will want to get the bragging rights back in West London.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger needs to build this Arsenal squad into a great one, one which can finally shut that horrid little man up and leaves the Frenchman walking away from Old Trafford with a big fat cheesy grin on his face!

    Wenger would never get a better chance of beating them at Old Toilet than he had last year though Rico.
    That was a very irritating result for me.

  2. rico says:

    I agree Adam. That performance was dreadful but you never know, a few better players added to the team could work miracles… 😉

    While I live in hope I know that my wishes of Reus and Aubameyang are still too much to dream for, and that not hoping for the defender we need too!!

    ellow everyone. Off topic what is wrong with these 2 blogs: ooh to be a gunner and gooners den? Its like these guys can never be accurate about anything relating to Arsenal.

    I am hopeful that Wenger will use Xhaka & Elneny in our midfield next year. Those two have energy and their long range passing and shot from distance are admirable. Hoping we have a strong midfield and lethal strikers. #Coyg

    Wengers got his shopping done early this year, one quality mf and a child striker from South America. I reckon that may be all! He will claim he searched high and low for another striker and a central defender but will then assert he couldn’t find any top, top players to fill the gaps so he drew a blank! We’ll be short again. Well no change there then!

    Can’t resist a little pop at the poisonous Pygmy. I have a little feeling that he wil not live up to his overhyped arrival. No matter who’s on his shopping list or how much he spends I think his new team will struggle to make any significant impact next season. The cunning and clever tactics he once used were good for their time but the wily tacticians will have worked him out and his team wil flounder. Just as Chelsea did this year. At least I hope he fails abjectly. It couldn’t gapped to a a nastier person!

    Afternoon all. Suns disappeared and temperature has dropped. Not good.

    Lovely here 2 Rico….. Camden bathed in glorious sunshine…… The Hawley arms in all it’s glory…!

    Rico, remember a few months back I suggested that if you look at the players we have Ramsey as a captain will not surprise me for 2 reasons. One, when you watch EPL the amount of infractions English/ Great Britain players get away with is incomprehensible, like Rooney and Showcross constantly telling refs to f*^k off, so its advantageous to have a GB player as your captain. And two, AW will support him fully knowing Ramsey lacked support as Wales captain. Of course most of us know that the dude shouldn’t even start games. But AW most times goes against the norm.

  8. rico says:

    Nothing would surprise me Obi, not even Jack being made captain..

    I’d give it to Xhaka, new broom and all that…

    The Sun has got its hat on,
    Hip hip hip hooray,
    The Sun has got his hat on and is coming out to play… ?

    Good day all!

    I see Aaron Ramsey as another overhyped and mediocre British midfielder with only one good season and then downhill all the way.
    Just look at his stats of appearances (substitute in bracket) and league goals scored from 2008/09 to 2015/16 … the only excuse is that he is injury-prone since his leg-break:

    08/09 – 22 – 1 goal;
    09/10 – 7(11) – 3 goals;
    10/11 – 8 – 1 goal;
    11/12 – 44 – 3 goals;
    12/13 – 47 – 2 goals;
    13/14 – 34 – 16 goals;
    14/15 – 23(6) – 6 goals;
    15/16 – 29(2) – 5 goals.

    That is awful for an attacking midfielder and a mainstay of the team.

    If only he had scored 10+ league goals last season.

    If Barca is daft enough to offer 50-mil for him, take it!

  11. Micko says:

    Rick Ghastley for me Kev, he was a bit special !

    Ollie must have made it into the box by now rico lol.

  12. Micko says:

    Wilshire starting again tonite, that must be nearly 5 games on the trot !

    Very under-rated rico, I got all his albums.

  13. rico says:

    🙂 Micko, me too, all three of them. Still, he has a new one out now and I need some shooting practice, so maybe I’ll invest…

    That’s funny re Jack….

  14. Adam says:

    Morning Rico and all. A rather wet and nippy London Town this morning cheered only by the knowledge that miniature sociopath, egotist and general psycho nutjob Mourinho has a portrait of himself on the wall of his new office at the toilet. I find that curiously amusing.

  15. rico says:

    Morning Adam and all…

    Lovely and sunny here, we had rain late last night…

    Listening to him spout on about how good he’s going to make Utd, makes me laugh. I hope he fails big time…
