Morning all.
Got a hangover have we after ‘black eye Friday?’ No, me neither but my word there’s some awful sights captured on film by the journo’s in the papers this morning. Why would anyone want to get into such a state is beyond me.
Anyway, on with the football and a smart move by Alexis Sanchez I’d say. When asked about his desire to sign a new contract, Sanchez told Sky Sports’ Geoff Shreeves in an exclusive interview:
I’m focused more on winning football matches – I’m staying concentrated on that. It really doesn’t depend on me – if they want to show confidence in me. I’m very happy at the club. I love all the staff. I’m very grateful for everybody here.
It depends on Arsenal. I enjoy the relationship with the fans. I want to achieve more for them. I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League.
I’ve told my agent I don’t want to speak about this too much when all the rumours are going around – it can distract a player from their main focus of concentration. I’m playing well and scoring goals. I’m achieving my objectives.
I’m just focused on playing football, Sunday is a very important match. I’ve got an agent who deals with all of this, so I just want to focus on making the fans happy.
I’m very relaxed. I’m trying not to let it bother me – that’s not what I want. We’ll see when it’s all resolved – I’m very calm. I’ve told my agent I don’t want to speak about this sort of thing.
The rest of the interview can be seen ahead of the Manchester City v Arsenal match, from 3.30pm on Sky Sports 1.
So there we have it, straight from the horses mouth. He’s happy at Arsenal and as long as the club want him to stay, pay him what his agent believes he deserves, the Chilean will be at the club for a while yet. None of us know what demands the agent of Alexis is making but I’m sure a compromise can be found and if the player himself prefers to put the staggering wages offered by the clubs in China, then there’s little Arsenal can do. But as Alexis has said, he wants the Premier League and Champions League for the fans, the fans he loves, and he won’t get either playing in Eastern Asia.
He won’t be heading for a reunion with Pep Guardiola either, unlike Samir Nasri, Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure and Gael Clichy who were all sold to City for a combined £72 million between 2009 and 2011. That is according to Arsene of course:
Yes, they are good clients! But I feel we can give financial satisfaction and support ambitions and values that can make the players happy at this club. Before, perhaps the financial gap was too big a difference to keep our players. We could not compete, we had to sell players. Now there is no concern, no concern at all.
We can keep our players. We are financially much more competitive than we were before. We were always competitive but we had to sell our players, that is the big difference. Today we can make the decision.
Good, then cough up and sort both Alexis and Mesut’s contracts out. Arsenal are a huge club and they need to act like it in this situation and not penny pinch because finding a player of their kind of quality could end up costing a lot more. Also, it’s not just about the financial situation, it’s about the knock on effect as what kind of message would it send out to fans knowing that two of our best players have been allowed to leave just because the club won’t spend the money on them? After all, a lot of that money comes from them, us and in many ways. Tickets, merchandise, food and drink at The Emirates etc etc, the list is endless and none of it is cheap either.
Without the fans, football would be nothing, so come on Stan Kroenke, give these two deals your seal of approval and let the fans know you are not as tight and disinterested in Arsenal becoming successful on the pitch as many of us believe you are…..
Finally, you have to love this little snippet. French outlet RMC Sport, report that Mesut Ozil is on a mission to persuade Julian Draxler to make a move to Arsenal in a couple of weeks time. Draxler is on the move that’s for sure and PSG are rumoured to be sniffing around but if Mesut comes calling on behalf of Arsenal, then surely he’d prefer to join up with his international team-mate in north London than to join the French club…
Have a good Saturday guys, this time next week it’ll be Christmas Eve….
Morning Rico and all. Perhaps Theo will want £300k a week too.
Morning Adam. I doubt it, he’s lucky to be what he’s on…
It’s just the media who want him to leave – as they wind up their ‘destroy Arsenal by hounding out their best players’ mode as they did with Vieira all those years back. Why would he want to leave? He’s seen first hand that the so-called best clubs have no qualms about benching star names.
I doubt he sees it that way Rico. 🙂
Totally agree Db, and he’s the star at us, unlike if he were to move to a club full of so called stars..
Very true Adam, at least he’s earning some of his money this season, not all, but some… 😉
Morning all.
Will we afford Draxler wages? Unless we offload the remaining moulds in the team.
And with that we’ll have a big unhappy squad.
Again the press need to be more creative.
What does he currently earn Marshall, not as much as Feeoo I bet… 😉
afternoon all
Watching Palace v. Chelsea
Me too Jm… lol
No doubt Alexis deserves top dollar but apart from the Chavs Ozil has gone missing in too many big games. Much rather he stuck that chance away against Everton and blocked Williams run than scored a hat-trick against a Bulgarian pub team when the game was already won.
Afternoon All
Afternoon Rico, Chelsea it seems, roll inexorably onwards…
I was hoping that Palace could get at least a draw…
What’s happened to the great enigma that is Christian Benteke?
Would Alexis want to join a club and sit frustratedly on the bench…?
We know how he reacts to being subbed as it is…
Would he want to play again for Pep?
I doubt it….
But Chelsea are a threat and the sale of Oscar could be clearing the way for a bid and/ or the dark arts…
Alexis could then stay in London…
A Chelsea or a Man City could afford to take him from us solely to weaken us and lessen the challenge to their duopoly…
Liverpool are a flash in the pan…
It won’t last…
ManUre are a basket case…
Tottenham are only one bad result away from another riot…
Arsenal are the big threat to the Petrodollar twins…
Debuchy leaving will free up finance for wage increases…
But Wenger needs to agree new deals for several players other than just Alexis, Giroud and any new signings, and I’m not sure if FFP still has an effect or not…?
Or do both Bob…
Afternoon to you and a Kev…
Don’t even suggest that Kev re Alexis… 😉 but I can see where you’re coming from….
Vardy sent off, Leicester losing 2-0 at stoke… who’d have thought eh….
Afternoon Rico and all.
Afternoon all
Sanchez is only 28 in two days time.China can wait. They have the money but hardly a league in the sense we know in Europe. However we don’t want him to go to any of our rivals as has been the case with others as we all well know.I know Walcott amongst others gets a bashing by many but over 11 years he has cost us over 50 million for a very low return.I will never understand the wage structure at our club. Sanchez is the best player we have had for years so make him an offer he can’t refuse but more than likely we will lose him and make another team stronger.(no names)
Afternoon Adam, Kelsey..
Can’t see the the football in China attracting Alexis…
Don’t the Chinese eat dogs Rico?
Nothing would surprise me with footballers.
Robin Van Persie made all the right noises whilst negotiating to jump ship to Old Bog.
So pardon me if I’m a bit cynical when players talk up the fans…
Do not be so cynical my dear Mr Allezkev. 🙂
They do Kev, b******s – good point too, he would be very much against that….
I think Alexis is being honest about the fans, loved the way he took a selfie of him and all the ballboys- not many do that after a game…
Adam ?
Good evening my fine fellow…
Yes, I must confess that I struggle to avoid a constant state of cynicism regarding Arsenal in particular and Association Football in general…
I guess I need a good vape… ?
Hi Rico ?
Good points regarding Alexis there Rico…
It would be nice to think that money isn’t the only factor motivating him.
It’s probably all that motivates his agent…
I guess it will all play out over the next 6 months…
Hi Kev, I’m just hoping really. If he leaves it’ll be awful….
Night Kev, Adam and all….
Night Rico
Have you all got lost in the Smog
It’s the festive period Rick, too many things to do… 😉
Afternoon to you…
Just waiting for the match. Nothing much to say or do until the teams are announced.
Exactly potter..
I’m sure there’ll be plenty to talk about after….
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Man City for £25 million…?
Then Arsenal invest £30 million in Julian Draxler…?
Afternoon All
Afternoon Rico.
Yeah, busy, busy, busy, I’m sure we can find some discussion points.
There still seems to be an organisational issue in our defence, the absence of Mustafi could be a coincidence, maybe we’ll know more at 6pm today…
Holding going out on loan?
I have mixed feelings about that.
The boy needs games for sure.
But what if we lose another centre-back?
I guess let him go on loan, but with an agreement to recall him if need be…
Debuchy is due back on January 14th.
Mertesaker is back on January 7th.
Maybe Wenger has one eye on their return and the need for Holding to get game time as he’ll be behind both of the above when they’re fit…
Afternoon Kev.
Do you reckon AW would let OC go to City? Didn’t he say just the other day that those days are long gone..?
Holding off on loan makes kind of sense as he’s not playing much but I’d have thought he’d be involved in the FA Cup…
The BFG is back and Gabriel is available now that Bellerin has returned , Mustaphi was a three week one so come January we will be covered. Albeit I like Holding and wanted to see more of him , maybe what happens in the cup at |Preston might have a bearing.
Not sure Rico, could be the agent of the Ox upping the stakes during negotiations, if AOC did move to City, he isn’t gonna play anymore than he does now, not if his performance on Tuesday is anything to go by…
Yeah, Wenger did say that, but then he said that we can’t financially compete with City, Chelsea and the Mancs.
It’s all spin…
Ah yes, the contract negotiations, no City for him then and as you say, Pep wont play him unless he improves greatly…
For me, Lucas Perez has to start today, we cannot carry passengers.
This game is made for him as is the Man City defence.
Kante and Costa banned for their next game home to Bournemouth, and you never know what you’re gonna get with Bournemouth, hopefully a top top performance on Boxing Day with Wilshere at its heart…
A couple of draws and suddenly Chelsea are back in the pack…
It’s just happened to us…
I’d like to see him stat too.. A hatrick then dropped seems harsh…
Nope, same team as the Everton one….
Correction, Iwobi starts instead of Ox…
Jay Rodriguez has been in good form for Saints this afternoon, Jack was very average…
Hmm, disappointed not to see Perez start, but Iwobi in front of Ox makes sense…
COYG
Are you watching Kev?
Afternoon Rico and all. Could be a bumpy ride today. 🙂
Afternoon Adam. High scoring game I think….
afternoon all
Waiting for the match
Rico. I wonder..
Great start… lovely goal and build up..
Didn’t see that coming HHee
Our left side looks dodgy..
Too risky at the moment
Not having a go at Iwobi, but we need an older head in his position….
15 minutes and sky bring up the contract situation .They say the fans want to know but really it’s them.
Did you expect anything less? They are vultures..
Totts 1-0 down
Can’t sit on one nil.
Deep breath time
Wish that was the full time whistle….
I’d settle , eaten half the Christmas Clementines already.
Nah Rico, working, I just luv it… ?
We’re on about the tenth lot of clementines… lol
Kev, I realised.. lol
Coygs!!!!
Sagan on… ?
Zabeleta off Sagna on…
Dear old pals, jolly old pals… ?
Offside
Radio says it was off-side…
Typical, come back quick Mustafi….
Nervy 50 minutes ahead. Too late
Offside, exactly the same line as Monreal was when Iwobi had his goal ruled out…
Bloody useless Lino….
This was the kind of game where Arsenal needed to make a statement and I suspect that the statement we’ll actually make is that Arsenal don’t have the required mentality to win the league…
Therefore, give them all a massive pay rise.
12 games without a clean sheet. Chelsea three 1_0s. That’s the difference.
It’s not over yet Kev…. 😉
If the lino had spotted the offside Andrew, we’d still have a clean sheet…
Not one appealed for it , remember the famous back four. Their arms were on a bit of string.
Under pressure now, onto the Brazils .
Potter try the dates, they always work for me…
Iwobi off , Perez on . Got to change something.
Half right.
They have the midfield
We are all over the place and Arsene watches on!!
and the points
Shocking
Lol… ya gotta love wenger sitting there watching that coming for the last 20 mins…. we needed to go long ball to take the sting outta them…
Fuckin Amateur hr…..
And here comes the panic sub….
We are fucking washed up! Another one nil up to two 1 down. Nobody turned up to play …again. The entire aura is sh!t
Awful showing in this second half, bloody awful..
Win the league? No bleedin chance……….
We’ve allowed all the other teams around us to gain or extend 6 pts on us in a week….
I had the offer of a ticket for West Brom on Boxing Day…
Fortunately I declined the kind offer, I’ll be at home doing roast potatoes, turkey and all the trimmings…
Boxing Day is going to be like going to a funeral…
We are having passengers in the team. Ozil, Monreal and Iwobi.
A mid of Xhaka and Coq is yielding zilch! Cech has more passes than them.
I wonder, how well have Sanchez and Ozil done as far as earning a big pay rise?
I’m really shocked to how the season is unfolding I really am and it’s still 2016…..9 points behind Chelsea at the moment.
13 seasons of this boring bollocks!
A booking for that? Pffff
?? Lee, that’s funny… what a load of predicable rubbish…
It’s hard to criticise Sanchez , he had a good first half but second no service and that’s Ozil’s job.
Haven’t beaten Liverpool, Spurs, Utd and now City. Teams you need to beat to win the league. No freaking chance of winning this season… Time I had another hobby.
Ozil has had a bad day… again.
Like I said the other day…. no balls against everton tactically clueless at city, be 8 or 9 pts behind Chelsea and out of the title race…
I wish I could predict the lotto as well. 🙂
but well go back to winning ways on boxing day with a few selfies…. and all will be good with the prawn sandwich brigade….
#fight4fourth lol…
Utterly pathetic.
What a pile of poo…..
Dreadful second half by so many…..
What else can you do to change this pattern other than change the man behind it all. Once again when the chips are down we are found wanting.
What really pisses me off is their first goal which was offside, just as our second was…
But, we were awful, bloody awful and Wenger did bugger all to change it….
Xhaka-Coq ain’t working for me. No creativity there.
I’m asking Santa for Simeone….
Let’s give him wengers wages.
This team could have Messi and Ronaldo in it we’d still win fuck all…..Wenger is the problem sooner he fucks off the better! City were there for the taking today……
I agree Lee… doesn’t matter who we buy, wenger can’t motivate his team to challenge… he’s completely fucking finished and has been for a while….
Same
Old
Shit
I agree too…
We royally mucked that up, dreadful lack of tactical awareness or rather, the ability to change what’s not going well…
He’s spent….
Good afternoon Rico
The talk was a better time to play City with no Aguero and one of Inhos .HAHAHAHAHA
Are the two goals conceded iffy ? Is there referee to blame ?
Same Arsene bullshit year in year out with Wenger.
Sanchez completely isolated on his own and the Ozil was nowhere to be present.
The good thing is many of us are used to the output no matter what fanfare they can put on it.
Unless this old man is lost from the club nothing changes.
Wenger out
The League is lost.
The first goal of the citizens was offside.
It was enough to change Zabaleta for Sagna, who knows how to cross and had no one to score, to advance Touré and Fernando (he was the best player of the City in the second half), preventing the construction of Arsenal from the beginning, so we did not take the ball from the midfield until Suffer the 2nd goal. We played with 10, because Ozil did not defend and also did not get balls, so also did not attack. Ox came in and got injured (severe?); Sanchez was injured in the first half but continued to play (will he have to stop?).
For now, the League is lost. Two games followed almost on chemical paper.
Hi Alex- we were dreadful, but their equaliser was offside!
Lee says it all
Just fuck off Wenger and take that prick the Ox with ye
5 more months and he’s gone
I agree Jm, the league is now lost….
Mg, I bet he’s not!
I do not blame the ref for that because it was very tight.
Where was Ozil for the second game in a row ???/
He would not disappear in such way with his German team they would have tore him apart the players let alone the coach.
But here we have Arsene .I am not fussed to loose this primadonna .Let him disappear if there are suitors. He just ups his game when he want basically with the team.
Hi Rico
Merry Christmas to you and your family
I think this his last season
We’re just not going forward
Only the CL and FA Cup double left then.
Mg, thanks, and the same to you and yours…
But I reckon he’s staying put… sadly..
Or just another barren season Adam….
Lee, a bit harsh, it’s not as if dear ole Arsene brought on Giroud after the horse had bolted or picked Elneny ahead of Perez when we were chasing the game, I think some people just moan for the sake of it, afterall we’re still only 17 games in.
rico, Arsene doesn’t do tactical awareness, he’s never beaten a Pep team away, says it all.
Potter, I wouldn’t put any blame on Ozil today, he wasn’t even on the pitch 2nd half was he !
Anyway it’s not all gloom and doom, our next 6 games are all winnable.
? Micko, and this was probably the worst Pep has ever had….
What a shocking turn in merely a week.
Doesn’t take much to kill off a season!!!
Hi rico, is this Perez fella any good, haven’t seen much of him myself.
How’s you Malaga, weren’t we top of the league in the first week of January last year, what makes you think we’re not going forward, keep the faith bruv !
If it happens once in a week OK but twice. it’s time to say goodbye for all our sakes.
It certainly looks that way Rico.
If they couldn’t fire up for this game, especially after Everton, then there are no excuses.
It certainly doesn’t Scott..
Hi Micko, well he nabbed a few goals in his last start… lol
Sure does Adam. Hh won’t be around for another though, of that I’m sure…
I’m off guys, nighty…
Arsene says it’s not mental
It’s tiredness.
Love to see Sanchez’s face when he said that.
Ozil looked like a tourist with an Arsenal kit on.
“Say Cheese”
No nightmares, Rico-that’s done already lol
rico, maybe Arsene “did not see it” lol.
Back to back defeats now after a 14 match unbeaten run, another false dawn !
Happy Christmas micko, hope all is well
Hopefully Santa will bring us a new manager and some backbone
Ditto Malaga and some balls as well.
Fred, thanks for the laugh mate !
Nite rico, there’s a lot to be said for closing the curtains and hiding under your quilt !
I cannot believe that less than a week ago a deflected Sanchez free kick put The Arsenal top, now they are 9 points from top.
Plus ca change. Plus ca la meme chose!
Micko from the little we have seen of Perez he is a predator and he is a good passer and has the abilty to hold the ball and find a team mate. For this second half and the Everton one he has the abilities we need when we are trying to hold on to a lead.
http://sportslens.com/alexis-sanchez-arsenal-transfer/191145/.I wonder have they stopped listening. Or just got bored with the sound of his voice.
I’ll try and be careful here…..not trying to divert any criticism away from Wenger and the players at all, but ffs, two offside goals and both clearly offside.
So little uproar about them shows me plenty around the world are more Interested in crucifying our own guys than being honest.
We may we have been soft, poor and anything else we choose to describe our performance as, but how we’re the two goals allowed?
Just to add, Iwobis was a closer call than their first goal……
Said earlier that the goals were offside , but it’s the lack of standing up to be counted that worries me. There is something rotten in the state of Denmark as the bard once said.
Under the new law the 2nd goal isn’t and wasn’t offside…!
The first however was offside and the linesman wasn’t even in line…. A shit decision but not the reason we offered little or no threat in a game that was there to be won just like Tuesday.
We are a better side and squad than the last few years but we are still not good enough and the same old failures are still there for all to see apart from a few. We have if everyone is honest been decent over the last few months but not great, we showed some fight and spirit in Nov when we were pretty crap but got away with results yet we lose one centre back and fall apart. We have still to many passengers in the side and until these issues are addressed we are nothing but also rans…. If i was Alexis, makes no odds what the fuck I am offered in wages I’d be off cos he ain’t winning naff all with us…. The only one week in week out who wears his heart on his sleeve and runs his balls off… If only the same effort was shown by others…!
We will limp along maybe grab 4th again (i did say maybe) and Wenger signs a new contract as the board lack the ambition and the guts to move forward… same ole same ole and all so predictable…! Shame really as the fans deserve way better but such is professional football these days.
Have a great Christmas one and all and here’s to a healthy and happy 2017 as well.
So much for the kiwi sports psych. Baaaaaaaaaaaaah humbug!!!!!!
Potter, the last couple of games have been very similar, good first 45 minutes and then hang on to dear life and hope for the best in the 2nd half.
Wath, you’d like to think Arsenal are bending over backwards to give Alexis what he wants but…….
Won’t catch me making excuses, couldn’t cope with the intensity and pace of Citeh today, as for offside goals didn’t we score one against West Ham earlier this month.
Mon: Draw Bayern in UCL
Tue: Lose to Everton
Wed: All rivals win 3 points
Sat: All rivals win 3 points
Sun: Lose to City
JM and tomorrow Liverpool supporters will be telling us this is their season for the 27th year in a row lol !!!
Nite Gooners, keep it real.
JM, why are you always such a cheerful soul..?
Just saw a FB page showing the Arsenal Fan TV interviews.
Fiery, to say the least.
What was even more fiery were the comments from non Arsenal fans, especially battling clubs, suggesting we are a bunch of whingers, and our level of expectation is only such due to the work of Wenger.
Remember, these are non Arsenal fans who have nothing to gain or lose by passing comment, but the theme was absolutely consistent.
They’d take the man in a heartbeat but I know, we are the Arsenal and should expect more, but we expect more due to the success Arsene brought and around and round we go…….
Chicken or the egg……
Wath, under the new rule, it was no goal and I’ll respectfully disagree on that one.
Silva was close enough to stick a boot out attempting contact, so was well and truly in play.
Good to hear from you, even when you’re wrong, and I’ll talk to you soon 🙂 🙂 🙂
Of course, excuses are irrelevant unless they suit people’s agendas.
It always the same with Ozil. He loses the ball and not enough effort to recuperate the ball back. His body language says it all. His lack of effort shows we are playing with one man less. Where is the passion?
NG, we knew when we signed him what we were getting.
He’s a player who needs those around him working.
When he plays well, we play well and vice versa.
Does he feed off the side, or do they feed off him??
Imo, he’s easily the most talented footballer in the League.
Morning Rico,
“We have to come back next week and win our game [at home to West Bromwich on St Stephen’s Day]. I think we have had a horrible week and what is worse, out of two good performances we get zero points and out of two leading positions we lose two games…” Is Wenger disillusioned or what? Two good performances?
Respectfully disagree all you want Scott, why are all the refs saying the 2nd goal is not offside then..? technically as the law is, Silva was not in the line of sight of the ball and hence not offside, ball was long in the net before he was in Cech’s vision..! Cech’s view was obstructed by our 2 defenders whom both did a pretty shit job of stopping the shot in thh first place i may add… Silva wasn’t anywhere near the ball either, that’s the rule. So moan all we want, it wasn’t offside the 1st one most definitely was but does it really make a difference with such a shit performance…. clutching at straws me thinks.
As for others fans from other teams worry about their own clubs…. do they pay 100quid a tkt for a game, no…. do they have a club fleecing the fans at every opportunity, no… does their club have in excess of 100 million plus cash reserves in the bank, no…. They not really in a position to comment then are they…! We speak on what we see and feel simple as that.
What we see if the same failings year after year after year and they still not addressed.
Enjoy Xmas, chat soon fella….
Abit level headed now. Yes those were offside goals. Sane’s abit tougher than the second one, clearly Silva was in play.
My problem was with the performance. It was sh!t, again Monreal can’t close down his attacker instead he brings him inside where he’s within range to shoot. Like the fans Wenger is furious but I think he’s diverting his anger towards referees (rightly they’ve been awful) but wenger can’t put ALL the blame on the officials like we even tried to play
Scott, I kind of disagree with your Ozil opinion. He doesn’t have to be the one to ‘chill’ on the pitch so the hard-workers around him can toil. True Xhaka-Coq have no idea what they are doing on the pitch since they should be supplying Ozil and co, but his attitude stinks atm.
Against Chelsea, Ludo he was ‘working’ hard, tracked, tackled why couldn’t he do the same in the last two games? We can’t afford to have a passenger in the team.
And for the life of me, can’t we freaking clear the ball?
Marshall, he is what he is-should we expect him to change?
Wath, if we scored that second goal, I’d say it was offside.
Silva interfered and that’s that-no goal.
Fans of other clubs have every right to appreciate and admire what we have, because they’re die hard supporters so should be respected.
As for Arsene, I’ve said 1000 times he should shut up on occasions, and after a loss shouldn’t blame the officials, but then again, other managers made a career out of it 🙂
Morning Marshall, Wath, Scott and all…
As much as their first was offside after we’d had one ruled out when Iwobi was in an identical position stinks – but regardless, we were dreadful yet again… Nothing will change until something, or rather someone is changed….
Morning Rico and all. I doubt Arsene can change now.
Morning guys.
Rico, you’re right-bad calls are an excuse for a poor result, but not for a bad performance.
Adam, he’s an old man.
There’s no way he can change.
He deserves criticism.
He doesn’t deserve the insults that always come out from people when we lose, and I’ll stand by that.
Morning all,
Been a while but I thought I needed to share my thoughts that we should’ve found a replacement for Cazorla a few seasons ago.
As with United where Carrick performs the same role but his legs can’t let him play full game every game.
Mustafi filled that role when he plays but without him we have no build out the back and too stagnant in midfield. We seem to make space for him to pass to.
As said before, would’ve taken Fabregas back when we had the chance but that boat sailed a long time ago.
Scott, yes he should change. When he puts in a shift we acknowledge when he stinks we have to point it out. Or is he allowed to be his lazy self in a few games and turn up in others? Consistency.
Morning Adam. exactly, which is why he needs changing. If we carry on with these kind of performances, there’s little chance of keeping Ozil and Alexis. Also, there’s a really good chance that top 4, which seems to be his target, is under serious threat this time around…
Marshall, I didn’t ask should he change, I asked should we expect him not to.
We can wat him to, but do we really think he will?
Sorry, that should read “should we expect him to…….”
Lions and zoos what the hell is that all about. Plain English if you need to get a point across. Trying to be clever and speaking in riddles is about as effective as Cantona’s seagulls and trawlers. Maybe it’s a french thing.
Having slept on yesterday , their first goal was definitely offside and tilted the level of the game.although I felt that the one goal lead was not enough. Once again our lack of ability to put a team away when we are on top came back to bite us. Against lower teams it doesn’t matter so much but when you play a team with players as good as city’s they are going to get chances and probably take them. Dropping so deep allowed them the ball and isolated our players and nullified any threat we might have had. As usual once the pressure went on we resorted to losing the ball and the passing game that we used to employ so well disappeared into thin air. We can ask for new players to do these things better , we can whinge at referees but the truth which certainly is down to ourselves is that only Arsenal can cure the problem. We have some really good players but there seems to be no system , no plan and no leadership that the players listen to.
As for insults Scott, stop reading Twitter and the online Gooner.
I didn’t get the lions and zoos either. All rather odd…
Just gives the media a chance to wheedle their way round the subject. Just say that the referees are a protected species that live in their own world with no repercussions and there is no doubt of his meaning.
Probably get a fine but I am sure the club can afford it.
If there is an lions and zoos is how Wenger protects himself and players from criticism. It’s classic psychological diversion of frustration from the team’s poor performance to the referees.
Not sure but I bet we didn’t have more than three shots on target. In the second half Cech had more passes than our outfield players. Monreal… same old. Last week we were talking about steel in the team. Gabriel unsettles the already punctured defence.
New post up now.
