Alexis and Ozil happy at Arsenal. Prolific Striker ready for the first team?

Morning all.

The African Cup Of Nations is up and running and we have just the two players on duty out in Gabon – Ismael Bennacer and Mohammed Elneny. Algeria opened up the tournament but Bennacer didn’t get on the pitch, instead he watched on from the subs bench. Elneny and his Egyptian team-mates play today against Mali. For more information on this tournament, head over to bets.

Back in April 2016, these very words were written in the Independent newspaper:

Jonathan Moss’ officiating has come under further scrutiny following the publication of a report into errors by Premier League referees.

Moss has now been found to have made more ‘game-changing’ mistakes than any other top-flight referee this season, with 13 in 22 games.

Glenn Turner, a former World Cup assistant referee, is behind the study which was carried out back then in conjunction with YouAreTheRef.com and ex referee Keith Hackett.

I think it’s fair to say that Moss hasn’t improved at all since 2016 and how he remains as one of the Premier League ‘elite’ referees is beyond me. Mind you, he’s not alone. The bad news for Arsenal and Burnley is that he’s the man tasked to officiate our game this weekend. There’s a few rumours flying around which suggest Bellerin, Coquelin and Gibbs and Giroud will all be fit for this fixture which is good news.

Mesut Ozil, fresh from picking up his Player Of The Year award for Germany has given us all a boost over his future. He’s happy in England, he’s comfortable at Arsenal, or something like that he’s supposed to have said. In turn, Alexis is reported to have said that he loves playing alongside the German international. I still hope both players stay as quality such as theirs is hard to find, but what will be, will be.

Sticking with Alexis, he’s in the naughty corner. Having admitted tax fraud during his days at Barcelona, he now faces a hefty fine or even a jail sentence. Considering none of the other Barca players who took the same path didn’t end up behind bars, I doubt our man will either.

Well, I’d like to think he won’t…

Finally, new boy Cohan Bramall made his debut for the under 23’s last night and by all accounts did well. After a sluggish start, he improved as the game progressed according to Jeorge Bird. No doubt he was nervous having made such a big move but hopefully the more he plays, those nerves will settle and he’ll enjoy playing for his new club.

They won 3-1 by the way against a Southampton team which season after season seems to produce a few good players so a good result all round. Nketiah scored yet again and this youngster, who turns 18 in May, might just be on the cusp of great things for this Arsenal team, after all, how old was Wayne Rooney when he scored ‘that goal?’

Have a good day guys…

If they all sign up…………..apart from Sanogo…………….I`ll take it !……………………….then sack him ! hahaha

  2. Le Coq Monster says:

How hot is it in Oz ?……………….I bet it`s not hotter than Kroenkes Y-Fronts after he read my 10:00am link on nhow his property is doing ! 🙂

    LC, it’s 9.30.
10 minutes ago we put the bins out and I reckons it’s still 30 degrees, at least, though Stan has us I reckon lol

  4. Wavy says:

Jon Moss is the waking nightmare of why we need to introduce technology into the reffing of games. Sadly he’s not the only one, he’s just the worst!
Good to hear the walking wounded are up and about and taking sustenance let’s hope the wizened one doesn’t give them all the day off on Sunday, just because he thinks, with all his wisdom, that this is only a grade ‘C’ game!
Beating Burnley is by no means a foregone conclusion, imo. Even with our 1st team all selected, never mind the reserves.

    Morning all. Gloomy here, again!

  5. Le Coq Monster says:

I reckon so as well Scott !……………..currently the inner core of Kroenkes pants will melt granite !………………………..Xhaka beware !

  6. rico says:

Agree Wavy, any complacency or arrogance ahead of Sunday and we could be in trouble. Didn’t we beat them away by a single goal late on?

    Sunny but cold here…

  7. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Ginge, that is a fair question.
If they stay, let’s hope Arsene adds either quality to the squad.
If we look back over the last 3-4 seasons, we haven’t lost anyone we didn’t want to go,and have added some fantastic players so we are building.
Time to justify that spending with a title, no question.

    Le Coqie

I just googled South West England & it said the most common name in the phone book is Gummidge, & that the traditional dress from them their parts is the scarecrow look; & that they talk like the crew off Captain Pugwash. Well I’ll be able to confirm that in September. I hope they serve their beer there cold.

  9. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Don’t worry, I know it will have been 28 years, but somethings you never forget, & one of them is room temperature ale 🙁

Micro breweries have become a fast growing business. In my area they are cutting into sales of lager with many flavoured blonde ales. I read that Heineken are buying Punch Taverns 400 pubs that will now only sell their beer.Shame really.

    Morning All

    Morning Rico.

It’s notable glancing at the majority of the utter rot on NewsNow, that the theme on there is that Arsenal aren’t in the market.
I mean, the most common non-story on there is trivial nonsense about Sergi Semper turning down Arsene Wenger….

I mean, ‘big deal’, who fecking cares….

  12. allezkev says:

That’s Samper, not Semper, all the same, it’s obviously is a big deal to the Spanish midfielder himself, or his agent, otherwise why gob off about it?

He can’t get a game at Granada, where he is on loan, much the same as Jon Toral, so it seems he is going down the career path of the once highly-rated Fran Merida…
    Remember him?

  13. allezkev says:

I know Rico, there isn’t much value in the transfer market is there, some of the figures quoted are quite unrealistic…

We could have a fully fit squad by the end of the month, except Santiago of course, so it there anywhere in the squad that desperately needs attention?

  14. Le Coq Monster says:

Morning all and shiverrrr me timbers Gnarrrrrrrrrrrrley……………when you say you`ll becoming to the South West in Septemberrrrrr I hope you mean Cornwall because anywhere else are/is classed as northern bastards Arrrrrrrr and we drink Cidarrrrrrrrr not warm beerrrrrrr……………….drop by as I have your scarecrow costume at the ready arrrrr.
Cornwall is (according to british tourist info ) the number 1 destination for holidaying at home brits and for Aussies it will be like a home from home as we have the best beaches with Englands longest county coastline and plenty of Aussie lifeguards !………….just bring a dingo or marsupial for sexual pleasure and you`ll be well at home ! hahahaha or Arrrrrrrrrrrr me hearty !

    Is Kroenke still alive ?

  15. Le Coq Monster says:

Just been on Arsenal site to watch Swansea highlights when I noticed some quiz about trying to name the players middle name !……….there were photos of Sanogo, Welbeck. iwobi and Akpom, you then had to click on the photo of the player whose middle name was…”Amechi”………………..It was a toss up between Iwobi and Akpom as I knew Welbeck`s middle name is…”Nii Tackie Mensah”….and Sanogo`s middle name is….”Couldn`t Hit A Barn Door “………………………………I guessed right with Akpom !.

  16. Marshall says:

It’s good for the site to confirm Sanogo is still an arsenal player. For a moment I’d forgotten Iwobi’s first name. We have so many Alex(i)s in the team. One has to go.
When the reaper comes to collect I wonna reincarnate to a postman called Sanogo. Earn over 100k a month just because I showed I’d gallop like a horse!

  17. allezkev says:

Interesting piece of BBC5L concerning replica kits, with a price of £80/£90 for a shirt…

Reminds me of seeing Adam turning up for a curry sporting a 1967-68 shirt with Ure on the back. I was quite impressed with the shirt under his dinner jacket. Tastefully topped off with a red n white rosette and red n white spats…

    Always the perfect gentleman…

  18. allezkev says:

Yes Adam, Lee does have a rather elegant style, his long blond flowing over his Gervinho shirt is a sight to behold… ?

  19. Adam says:

It’s always fascinated me how the anger and frustration cools as the days pass, Not the overall view of where the club is. Its the match to match upsets 🙂

  20. Wavy says:

And me too. I love a good old moan.
Sunday sounds good. I’m out so I won’t have to watch it! Am I going to be the lucky one?

  21. rico says:

To be honest, I’ve lost all interest- not only in Arsenal, but football.. Perhaps when the cheating leaves the game, I’ll think differently….

  22. Adam says:

It’s a sad old state of affairs really Rico. But many other things are going the same way.
Now I sound like my Dad used to. 🙂
    Cheer up Wavy. 🙂

  23. allezkev says:

Southampton vs Norwich has some slight interest for us, I guess…

Whoever wins will represent a massive banana skin for us in the 4th Rd.

I’ve not got a preference, but Norwich have been a bogey team to Arsenal in past cup ties…

Who can forget Graham Paddon and co, humiliating us 3-0 at Highbury in the League Cup…

And as a 3rd division team the knocked us out of the FACup, at Highbury again I think, around 1954’ish…

Ah, the good old days, half-time Bovril, peanuts, everyone smoking, Wrexham, Rotherham, Swindon, Tranmere, Walsall and York. They don’t make ’em like that anymore, thankfully… ?

  24. Le Coq Monster says:

We`re not alone !………………..no I`m not talking about little green men, although I do have a story of my close encounter with them and it`s true…….and I`m not mad !………………….anyway, we`re not alone in moaning, because 19 other clubs will moan about not winning the league this or any season !
As for Sunday I hope I dont have anything to moan about as it will be 250 miles of depressing driving !
Not one to moan at an actual game, but just give my loud support as booing or anything similar has no good effect on a game it only makes it worse for the players, so however shit we might be on the day I will cheer as though we are the best !.
I`d prefer Norwich in the next round as Soton are just as much as bogey team of recent……well at their ground anyway, so lets sing like Canary`s tonight !………………..Bertie Smalls the lot of yer ! 😆

  25. Marshall says:

    Morning all you moaners.

I was about to post a video on Kelechi Coq beat me to it. He has bags of talent and swag! He’ll be a good playmaker. Reminds me of Rosicky’s flair.

Good to hear Coq you’ll be behind the team 90+4 mins. Too bad am gallivanting in the Yankee world, on the brighter side my girlfriend will be out of town too – wouldn’t want to come back to find she eloped with a southern bastard who has abs 🙂

  26. rico says:

    Morning Marshall and all.

Maybe Southampton is a better opposition, after all, our lot tend to think they’ve beaten a lower league team before the game kicks off.
