Agent confirms interest in International Midfielder! Sagna out & Diaby knows how to win on Sunday….

Morning all,

So Abou Diaby reckons he knows how to beat Tottenham!

We all look forward to these big games because they are not only important to us, but to the club and the fans. It is more than a game.

The atmosphere around the game means we all want to win, so that makes it very exciting. That is why I think there are so many goals.

It will be difficult because they play at their ground and have the crowd supporting them. But we just have to deal with that.

Of course we have a psychological edge because from the last game against them we took some lessons and we know them well. We know how to deal with them.

After reading this I wondered just how many NLD’s Diaby has featured in, if anyone knows, then great, do share it. He certainly wasn’t part of the side that won at the Emirates, he wasn’t even on the bench so why he really needs to chit chat away about how to win matches is anyone’s guess. Jeepers, he was part of a side which didn’t have enough guts and passion to beat Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup!!

Maybe he’s trying to say all the right things, but he and other players should keep their words in the dressing room and on the training pitch and when Sunday comes, put them all into action and play the best football they have all season!!

Wenger too needs a good game, asking a lot I know, but if he gets it right for once, we could win!!

We need to win to close the gap on them, but I’d settle for a draw right now if I’m honest.

Back to Abou, he really could be one on a long list of players whose career with Arsenal may come to an end this summer, he’s rated 50/50 for Sunday, which although is little surprise, it’s tiresome. He’s a waste of squad space imho.

Another who looks to be heading for the exit door is Irish Under 21 International Connor Henderson, a player who looked to be destined for a successful time with us, until injury hit him a couple of seasons ago.

Now though, he’s looking to leave when his contract expires in the summer:

I’ve not played at Arsenal’s first team this season, so it’s the right thing to leave when my contract expires in the summer. I’ve been with the club since my childhood but, like most of the Arsenal youngsters over the years, I need a move to get football.

At my age, I have to be playing regularly and I can’t get that at Arsenal, only U21 matches. I’ve been training with the first-team every day until the injury struck. Since I’ve come back, that’s only happened once.

It’s been a difficult few months but I’m optimistic about starting fresh at another club. Even Robbie Brady had to depart Manchester United for a new challenge and he’ll say he’s happy playing week in, week out at Hull.

My agent has already received interest from a few clubs.

‘I’ve been with the club since my childhood but, like most of the Arsenal youngsters over the years, I need a move to get football’

Just how sad is that statement?

I wonder just how many players we have let go, who would/could have had a future had they been given the right training and a proper chance….

Quick update on the injury front, Sagna will definitely miss out on the trip to the neighbours, as will Gibbs.

Have a good day all, the NLD will soon be here…….

  1. Lewis says:

    Morning all,

Shame about Henderson, He looked decent before the injury.

Not sure why Abou feels the need to say anything, he is pretty much irrelevant to any on pitch succeses we have. not that we have many!

This Sunday will be different though, 3 points coming home with the Gunners!

  2. rico says:

    Morning Lewis and all…

I thought he was going to make it with us, according to Jeorge Bird, a few more u21’s could go too, Eastmond, finally, being one of them and Watt.

  3. Borehamwood says:

So fucking NEGATIVE! Get behind the team, it’s good Diaby is feeling confident! Don’t get the scum moaning when Scott Parker says pretty much the same thing! Get behind the team becuse they need it more than ever. How about a positive article before what is maybe the biggest game of our season? Would be a lot better than this drivel I’m having to read

  4. rico says:

    Realist B’wood!!

I am fed up with cheap words from players and from our manager, I’d rather they all shut up and do they talking on the pitch!!

And no-one forced you to read or comment, so why don’t you go and leave your insulting comments elsewhere!!

  5. rico says:

I never get all this ‘we know how to do this, we know how to do that’ kind of comment before a game. Just like AW has said ‘Players won’t fear Bale’…

Well they bleedin well should because he could destroy us, being complacent is why we sit we we do in the PL and are out of both domestic cups and on the verge of being knocked out of the CL.

Talk after, before, just concentrate on the job in hand. Spend time researching Spuds and find a way to stop Bale doing to us what he has done to most others…

  6. Lewis says:

Agreed Rico, Like you said you are a realist, like many on here. This is one of the most positive and objective Arsenal blogs, matey obviously doesn’t read often. On the most part Arsenal fans are fed up of all the talk, talk is cheap. We want the players to prove themselves, instead of talking a good game and then coming up short. That is not negativity.

  7. rico says:

Couldn’t agree more Lewis, and talk has been cheap for many seasons, what we need is the board, manager and a the players to put their talk into actions….

  8. Rodney says:

    Don’t blame wenger

blame the players they just don’t have a winning spirit, they are not aggresive enough, the will to play and so slow.

they must fucken grow up and step up, Toe. W was crying for centre forward and now that he got it he does nothing. Now I understand why Sir Alex throws players with shoes in the change room.

    play or get out……………..

  9. George says:

    Morning all.

Borehamwood is a bit sharp? Doom and gloom merchant.

Anyhow, I agree with most our players should shut their mouths and let their feet do the talking.

I miss the good old days when only the captain on the mgrs say so spoke , and it was regulated.

We now have every fairy on twitter, fb , spouting garbage..

Diaby wants to take a good look at his jelly legs before giving it the biggy.

Its a shame about Henderson, maybe he could of made it.Not surprised Watt and Eastmond will be let go.

Still a bit miffed we let Lansbury go.

  10. rico says:

    He signed them Rodney….

    Hi George…

Talking of fairies on twitter, did you see Frimps on there in a totts scarf up to no good….

One injury too many for Henderson maybe. I think a few more will join him, Eastmond and Watt..

  11. Bendtnersgone says:

B.Wood, being sick to the back teeth of something is not being negative. Neither does it show a lack of support. It is simply being fed up with the same nonsense being spouted before big games because all too often the words aren’t backed up on the pitch.
I can only assume you don’t show enough interest in the goings on at the club to have noticed such an irritating pattern.

  12. George says:

i just read the jeorge byrd , there is a few going Rico..

Frimpong is another joker that might me moved onto a championship side. Dont se him setting Fulham alight. I know he was injured but there comes a time…

    As for our promising loanees…

Roberts in Scotland is not making headlines and Ryo doesnt get any playing time!???
At least Millwall are playing Afobe.

  13. Carpe diem... says:

    Morning…

Freedom of speech and all means he’s free to say anything …except slander.

He’s probably trying to boost the psyche of his team mates( I don’t think many fans care about Abou)

Boreham… no need to be insulting, you can make your point without being rude.

  14. rico says:

    Thanks for the supports guys…

I am fed up Bg, many many fans are aren’t they. Maybe B’wood hasn’t seen the empty red seats around him at the stadium…

George – I think you could be right about Frimpong, surely if he was truly in the clubs plans, he would have been offered a new contract at the same time as Jack and co….

I too still wonder why Lansbury was allowed to go, I really rated him…

  15. Adam says:

Morning Rico and everyone. I haven’t been that moved by NLDs for years myself. For me Sunday is just three points toward salvaging something from an awful season. If we scrape into 4th place then it will be a torrent of Wengerspeak all over again. Supporting Arsenal these days is tedious as witnessed by the increasingly empty stadium. Our problems go far deeper than trying to beat Spurs in my opinion. Spurs is the phoney war, the real stuff will be coming our way later.

  16. Bendtnersgone says:

Carpe, Abou has been a pointless drain on club resources for far too long. As good a player as he could be the time to let him go came and went long ago. His opinion means little to me as that is what he contributes, little.

  17. rico says:

I know Cd, but he’s one who really shouldn’t be talking to the press imho, leave it to AW and either Arteta/TV….

The rest, train hard… Mind you, Diaby can’t if he’s injured…

Afobe is a tough one to call, I don’t fancy his chances really, but hopefully I’ll be wrong. Ryo, a gonner I think….

  18. rico says:

    Morning Adam.

    How negative 😉

It’s been the same thing this time in the last few seasons for a long while. Too far off the top, out of both cups and a first leg loss in the CL….

    Sad state of affairs…

  19. George says:

Rico, I fear Lansbury will be another Larsson who will get promoted and we will see him in the Premier League.

I wondered why he wasn’t offered a contract too, when Ramsey who wasn’t playing too well and Jenks, who only had 8 good games for us was.

Interesting to see Fabianski playing with reserves…surely that spells the end for him too?

I noticed I get emails for Tickets at the emirates, whereas a few years ago i had to pay top dollar off some city bod who didnt fance Arsenal vs Wolves

  20. rico says:

Again I have to agree George on Lansbury. Wonder if we have a buy back option…

Fabianski’s contract runs out at the end of the season, as does Mannone’s I believe. Hopefully they will both be gone and we sign a top keeper, finally.

  21. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    rico

Normally clubs use a player not playing in a fixture to perform media commitments on behalf of the club. With this, Diaby won’t be starting or on the bench.

As for the NLD, if there is Wenger bunny side in the PL it’s Tottenham Hotspurs. Lets be honest here, Tottenham are cringe material, full of their own piss & importance but achieve nothing. Arsenal has won nothing in 8 years & still takes the piss with Tottenham.

Spuds are white just like bog roll, which is sometimes referred to as Arse wipe. 1-3 to the good guys 🙂

  22. rico says:

GG, but a couple of others have been talking to the press, Cazorla and walcott I think, hope that doesn’t mean they aren’t playing 😉

I hope you have got the scoreline right though 😉

  23. SD London says:

I think Wenger has been gradually changing his mind concerning his building project so he has been gradually reducing the youth team and selling players that are not exceptionally goo(example : Wilshire).

It is Ironic that we are now feeling for this guys been sold or sent on loan when we complained at Wenger’s dependence on youth development for years.

He was criticized and almost victimized for his youth project. Football changed and Wenger was slow to react and we have paid for it for at least 5years But Wenger has been gradually clearing the house for two years in a role now.

But then again , the British players just don’t like competing, they don’t like fighting for a place and it is an unconscious form of laziness. They jump too quickly and at age 21 , Henderson thinks he should be playing week in week out with the first team at Arsenal.

The day any youth player probably walks into Wenger’s office and asked if Wenger has plans for him ? Thats it , he is gone and will be playing for a low team without ambition or financial strength to compete and may never be mentioned again.

Not all can be as lucky as Kyle Bartley of Swansea city who just won the League cup!

  24. emma says:

    Goodmorning all gunnersphere,
I don’t care whether Diaby/squilly/chamackh comes out to say we know how to deal with those lots at 7 sisters. All I care about is My Arsenal going there to give them a beating. We are due a win at the shit hat lane.
As for frimpy, I think he is a gooner. I was ashamed of what he did on ustream yesterday. He should grow a pair of balls and stop behaving like a kid in a sweet shop. After watching for 5mins I had to exit ustream. He should be concentrating on his football. I still think he will be leaving this summer. Like George bird said lots of the u21 will be let go this summer. I thought conor was going to be one of the big thing out of coloney unfortunately after he had his injury he failed to recover that sparkle that brought him to limelight

  25. Rohan says:

Hey rico, Couldn’t agree more about diaby. The man spends far too long on the injury table and has been afforded far too much time by Wenger. On that note has nobody questioned why we are consistently at the top of injury tables, even wilshere probably spent a lot more time out than he had to. Something needs to be checked on the fitness coaches or physio department at our club.

  26. rico says:

Morning all, let’s hope they all back up their words eh, then I won’t care either 😉

Ha ha re the sale, we need one too…

That has been raised before Rohan…

  27. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.
    Afternoon Rico.
Tbh, I wouldn’t read too much into Henderson’s comment about needing to leave, to get a game.
That has always been the case.
I like Henderson, but he isn’t gonna get a game ahead of Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Diaby, Rosicky, Cazorla, Coquelin, etc etc…
He has Olsson, Gnabry, Aneke, Eisfeld as comptition also.
    It’s a shame, but that’s football.

    Good post btw

  28. emma says:

Rohan >> In terms of our treatment table, I believe this season is better compared to previous seasons. Currently have 2/3 players out unlike 7/8 in previous seasons. There seems to be an improvement, long may it continue.

  29. Kevin KJ Downton says:

“why he really needs to chit chat away about how to win matches is anyone’s guess”

He was asked a question and answered it! How is this chit chatting?

Borehamwood – I could not agree more.

  30. allezkev says:

Rico, we’ve always had young players needing to leave, to get a game.
    Andy Cole ring a bell… 😉
Make no mistake, if Henderson was 1st team quality, then he’d be in the squad.

Btw, i’m delighted for Kyle Bartley.

And Lansbury is finally getting a game at Forest, since the new manager, Billy Davies, took over. Good luck to both of them.

Not seen what Frim has been up to.
He seriously needs to grow up.

  31. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Rico – sorry i missed your point. I agree about how injury prone he is but didn’t get the point about his comments being chit chat? Sorry.

Allezkev – Do you think young Eisfeld is close to the team? I watched a couple a few games and thought he looked a quality player. Frinmpong is a frustration, I thought he was going to make the breakthrough before his injury. Does seem a bit too hotheaded but that could be youthfullness.

  32. rico says:

You are just being picky over the wording!

Diaby seldom plays, what the heck does he know about how to win a NLD. Anyway, he, like others should shut up and do their talking on the pitch because so far this season, and many before it, there is very little evidence to suggest the team truly know how to win….

  33. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all nice one Rico, I see your point Diaby is a carthorse, sorry a forever injured carthorse he should keep his mouth shut untill he can boast of a few games uninjured. Rosiski would be my pick. and why he has been sidelined i dont know. Diaby runs into brick walls where Rosiski looks exciting. I cannot remember the last time diaby ran out in a NLD in fact he should still be injured by Sunday so it really doesn’t matter unless he’s really saying I could win us the game if only i wasn’t injured. This team can beat anybody on there day they just don’t have to many days thats all.

  34. rico says:

Hi Sp, I thought you would 😉

Rosicky over him for me too, and in front of Ramsey for this game…

That is exactly my point though, what does he know.

Fido needs a walk so back in an hour….

  35. George says:

Why do you think Rosicky doesnt get a game? Surely he has come of the recreationals ? He still looks good when called upon…

  36. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Rico – 🙂 Sorry, wasn’t being picky, I didn’t get the point, apologies.

Rico, can we have a nice positive post before the game at White Hart Lane just to get us in the mood please. Not a negative one about how useless we are, our players are and the club is, we can get that in the press or on rival clubs forums or LeGrove).

Perhaps a celebration of the two 5-2 hidings we dished out, Adebayor getting sent off and the fact that despite our lack of trophys in the last 8 years, we still finished above that useless lot and got Champions league, while trying to build a stadium. Perhaps we could also shout from the rooftops the fact that our local rivals have not won the top league title for 52 years. Yes 52 years, that is really something to be proud about and puts things into a bit more persepective when they start bragging as usual. Crisis?

Steve Palmer – Good point. You cannot have injury prone players in the squad. Rosicky always delivers for me, I rate him big time. (I rate Diaby he was awesome at West ham and Man City at the beginning of the season but then we get the guaranteed injury.

  37. stevepalmer1 says:

Hiya George, Probably because we have Ramsey and Diaby Jenks could probably fill in to Wenger seems to go for younger players where i would go for experience. Or with Wenger who knows.

  38. stevepalmer1 says:

Hiya Kev, you make some great points there mate and i agree with you, I reckon you have just talked yourself into Sundays post mate Make it a good un 🙂

  39. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Steve Palmer – Steve, can you imagine my team talks on a Sunday morning! It certainly doesn’t start with “We’re doomed..”

When I hear negative stories for negatives sake, I shake my head and wonder what is the point. I tend to look at those around us and reflect. I know it is born out of frustration. Greener grass as they say. Let us all stick together in our time of need.

That noisy lot and the chimp, missed their boat big time. The last eight years was a massive opportunity for them to capitalise while we were selling our players. Those hypocrits jump on the eight years band wagon and go onn the forums and radio shows without bothering to open their eyes – a bit like some of our own fans. One thing is for certain, they have nothing to be proud of.

As Wikipedia states. “Arsenal holds the record for the longest uninterrupted period in the English top flight and would be placed first in an aggregated league of the entire 20th century”

With the future looking good, who is to say the 21st century won’t be the same?

Perhaps there lies the structure of our pre-match motivational item, Steve.!!

The greatest club in the land, no question and Wikipedia proves it.

  40. southyorkshiregunner says:

AMAZING STATISTICAL FACTOID FOR THE DIABY FANS THAT LOVE STATISTICS…

Whilst playing in his 11 appearances, Diaby has only won once v Totteham Hotspur…

    Diaby’s record

    20 April 2011: Score 3-3 Diaby Substituted 52mins
14 April 2010: Score 1-2 to Tottenham Hotspur
    31 October 2009: Score 3-0 to Arsenal
29 October 2008: Score 4-4 Diaby was a tactical substitute – came on in 81 mins when we were winning 4-2
22 January 2008: Score 1-5 to Tottenham Hotspur
    09 January 2008: Score 1-1
15 September 2007: Score 3-1 to Arsenal Diaby substitited on 56 mins when we were 1-0 down
    21 April 2007: Score 2-2
31 January 2007: Score 3-1 to Arsenal Diaby substituted on 81 at 1-1
24 January 2007: Score 2-2 substituted on 56 mins when we were 0-2 down
    22 April 2006: Score 1-1 substituted on 62 mins at 0-0

    Verdict:
    1. Just about every time he has come on as substitute, he has made us weaker and his impact has cost us the game ..

    2. Just about every time he has been replaced it has made us stronger and impacted favourably on our result..

    3. We win 9% of the games v Tottenham when he plays

    4. Verdict. Sell him to Lorient where he can be a beast

  41. allezkev says:

Thanks for the link Rico, Frimpong really has too much time on his hands.
Does he honestly think that those kind of gapes are not going to affect his prospects with Arsenal?!
I know it’s just high spirits and you have to question the influence of some of his ‘friends’, but he really should exercise better judgement.

KJ, yes I do rate Eisfeld, but i’m a bit mystified as to why he hasn’t, at least, got a bit of time on the bench…
Given some improved luck with his fitness, I can certainly see him as a 1st teamer at Arsenal…

  42. Kevin KJ Downton says:

allezkev – Hope he gets a chance, as I said I was impressed and he is bound to have the right attitude.

SYG – Good stats, proves you cannot have players in your squad that spend half their time injured however good they are.

  43. stevepalmer1 says:

    Nice one SYG.
Kev, half the trouble with fans is as it has always been Bragging rights, Personally i love it when we beat them but i am also a realist, i have watched all of Arsenals games and most of the enemy’s, they, although only 4 points above us have played what i consider pretty good where our games have been dire. Maybe its me, where i want to see us play with style and actually look like we will win something, thats the heartbreak for me season after season. listening to promises that never materialise. I listen to supporters like yourself saying we are only a couple of players short of a winning team but then he goes and buys a player i have not heard of before for a position i didnt know we were short on. I know this may sound negative and i’m sorry for that, but Twitchy done a reasonable job at the swamp and now this guy looks like he has got them going, i think this Sunday is going to be tough but i still reckon with everyone pulling in the right direction we can do it.

  44. southyorkshiregunner says:

Derby matches can go any way …..
Look at Man Utd 1-6 Man City last season …….
Man Utd 1-4 Liverpool the other season

    The list is endless ….
We could roll them over 4-1 at White Hart Lane or get thumped 3-0 ….

We have beaten them 5-0 and 6-0 at their place in the past and how many 4-4 draws have we had against them ….? Form goes out of the window 50% of the time

  45. Kevin KJ Downton says:

SYG – They were poor against Lyon and are a one man team. I would take a draw but a win would be something else. They have a tough run in and Chelsea do too. And they play each other.

  46. southyorkshiregunner says:

Fingers crossed KJ, but we were even more shite against Munich ……. form out of the window on this one …… us to get a 2-1 result ..

  47. George says:

    KJ and SYG

Id take a 2-1 all day..Any win against that lot is fine by me.

What are the odds Adebayor getting Red carded again?

  48. southyorkshiregunner says:

    nice one Wavy…….

    Revisited eh ….?

    1982
    Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal
    Hoddle (p) Woodcock, Nicholas

    2013
    Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal
    Bale (p) Podolski, Walcott

  49. Adam says:

Rico. It would be nice wouldn’t it?

Some of the questions were so stupid they must have been penned by Durham himself. Whoever the twat was who asked about Tottenham closing the gap should be held in front of an open fire like I used to do to my fag at Eton.

  50. Joaquim Moreira says:

    afternoon all!
we must beat totts next sunday. If not, we neve reach the 4th place (at least…) this season. My prognostic was we must catch them before they reach the 50 points…
I think coquelin will play in the middle

  51. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
It has been a bit tough to catch up, what with all the holidaying going on 🙂
We having a very relaxing time, which was much needed.
The phone isn’t ringing 50-60 times a day, and it just heaven.
The boss has decided we are going to a hot thermal spa today.
She is directing us around Victoria, but i do get to decide what i drink and eat lol.
On Henderson, well, the club is damn if they do, and damn is
    If they don’t.
Keeping a young player for the sake of it is crazy, and selling one who goes on to have a successful career makes them look silly.
A call must be made at some point, and can only be made with the avilable factors weighed up.
Henri is one i reckon we all disagreed with.
A bit of mongrel in the midfield never goes astray.

  52. rico says:

Guess it’s just me then, so I’m off too…

Nighty all, stay safe and catch up tomorrow……

  53. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Gareth Bale this! Gareth Bale that! Stick a ball & chain around him that will run with him all game, like Jenkinson. Its called horses for courses.

  54. Scott from Oz says:

    Agreed.
Jenks or Kozzer or m monkey boys tale, and he will attempt a triple pike with a quadruple twist to get a penalty, because he is a k**t of a human being.
Rico, , you know i never use that word, so please be lenient in my punishment, and take into account the subject!!!

  55. Lee says:

I take you don’t like that cheating welsh prick Scotty? 😉
We need to close parker down too….the hamsters gave him far too much space! 1-2 for me!! COYRRGS!!!
