Aaron Ramsey wants a new midfield partner & Grenier is moving to Arsenal, or is he?

Morning all,

Our link to Clement Grenier has become nearly as boring as the Cesar and Jovetic ones. One minute he says he has made up his mind over his future, then he says ‘more or less’ – there was even a comment suggesting he might stay in France.. For goodness sake, why don’t these players either make it clear, or just keep quiet altogether.

He’s hardly Messi is he, I doubt people are getting ‘that’ excited about where he ends up.

I have more or less made a decision about which club I want to join.

I have made the choice for sporting reasons above all. Arsenal? It could well be them.

Oh well, we’ll all soon be put out of our misery I suspect. Can’t wait!

The Wanyama story won’t go away either, Aaron Ramsey is now publicly backing the player, as did Perry Groves a few days ago.

Ramsey has been in Kenya for a week on holiday visiting Watamu, Masai Mara and spending a day at the Hemingways Hotel in Nairobi.

From what I have seen and experienced in Kenya, having a Kenyan at Arsenal would be a great thing.

Of course I don’t have a say on who joins us at the Emirates but if at all Arsenal get to sign Victor (Wanyama), I will be the first to welcome him.

I’m not sure signing Victor Wanyama would please so many Arsenal fans, his name is not big enough although his price tag might be as quite a few clubs are reported to be interested in him.

The Daily Star report that Bob Wilson seems favourite to replace the outgoing PHW in the summer. Not sure how they come to that conclusion but I for one would be very happy to see our once great keeper and true Arsenal fan, be appointed.

England play Brazil later this evening if anyone is interested, both Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should feature.

Have a fab day whatever you get up to, mines a busy one…..

    Morning all…

Got a few things to do in the garden, before it gets too hot 😉

    Catch up in a bit….

  2. ozgunner10 says:

Morning to you Rico – not sure about the Celtic lad to be honest and what happened to the world class signings? 🙂

  3. Kipmonster says:

Appointing the Gent Bob Wilson as Chairman will be a further cynical ploy after the axing of Arsenal TV to dissipate fan dissent if as looks likely it will be another Summer of false transfer promise. We should be striking now in the transfer market whilst 2 of our rivals are managerless & another has a new manager trying to find his feet at that club. The ‘proposed’ Jovetic deal has the ‘Mata’ charade written all over it as similarly does ‘Cesar’ deal looks like the ‘Schwarzer’ saga of a few years back.

  4. ozgunner says:

I agree on Jovetic deal and not at all sure he’s worth anything like his reported fee either TBH

  5. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning everyone.
It is all very quiet atm.
I reckon Grenier is a done deal, and Villa as well.

  6. ozgunner says:

hiya mate – just cant see Villa at the money they are talking, don’t know anything about the Grenier guy, never heard of him till lately

  7. Wavy says:

New chairman? Bob Wilson would be a good choice, intelligent, careful and a fan! Only downside is that, he too, is 70! So another aging geezeer in charge.

    Morning all

  8. ozgunner says:

wouldn’t really be in charge of anything in that post though would he mate – just issuing the odd embarrassing press statement 🙂

  9. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Bob sounds like a decent choice to me. It’s only an honorary position really and there is no real power attached to it. I doubt his foot would find its way into his mouth as often as PHW. He would represent the club with honour and dignity I think.

  10. ozgunner says:

hiya Adam – i agree mate, as i said before, not really a job as such more an honorary thing

  11. allezkev says:

Have to agree with Wavy, I think it would be a very smart move. If you look at Bayern, they have ex-players on the equivilent of their Board…
Bob Wilson has Arsenal thru him like a stick of Blackpool rock.
My only reservation, is how much power would he actually have?

  12. ozgunner says:

hey Adam – few tough weeks mate but what can ya do. Actually be glad when this years over already been a right pain in the ass so far ha! Hopefully come December we’ll sit atop of the league led by our gun signings…. ok enough already

  13. allezkev says:

    Morning Gooners btw.

Morning Adam, thanks for the tea mate, 😉

Off to get me some breakfast. Lata ya’ll

  14. Scott from Oz says:

    Hi Oz…
i read a report….yes, just a report….that Villa has told Barca he has agreed to personal terms with us and they just need to agree on a fee.
My earlier comment jumped the gun a little….it is not done, but will be imo

  15. Scott from Oz says:

    A little boast here…
The opposition coach came over to me after our kids game and asked the name of number 6…Sean.
He didn’t know he was my son.
He said he will be watching him on television in 10 years time.
I was pretty excited to hear that.

  16. Scott from Oz says:

Danish, i have been wondering that.
I was hoping Ginge was right when he thought it might be done..
Still, we know nothing will be announced until the time is right, so who knows?

  17. ozgunner says:

Scott – i think Villa may well be on the move mate but can’t see him as a Wenger buy – he’s heading to 32 will take time to settle and is not a regular any more. All this for over 10m? Can’t see it – congrats on the little one, sounds very promising

  18. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, he has had his 12-18 months after getting back on the pitch that is required after a bad injury.
Villa would be super for us and ready to fire, imo.

  19. W.A.T.H says:

I think when you get Sean his first contract at Arsenal Scott you need to make sure he gets a free box for life so we can all go and watch…! Please make sure there is Grey Goose in the bar fridge..!
Villa for the money they been throwing around won’t happen but then again who knows what the price would be as they are all thumb sucking…!

  20. blaq says:

I like the sound of wanyama..he might be well known but he is world class in my opinion..he is very strong and along side arteta and wilshere or carzola our midfield would be very solid Indeed

  21. Scott from Oz says:

    Deal Wath haha.
The kid has stepped up dramatically since going to the training academy.
    It is scary.

  22. W.A.T.H says:

Two footed Scott it’s what you need to drum into him everyday…! both feet both feet….! If you can’t dream mate what’s the point in playing..!

  23. potter says:

Best bit of training for a kid , all you need is 10 yards a brick wall and a ball. . Left foot- right foot- left foot – right and so on. Have different targets on the wall and keep it going for 5 minute periods.

  24. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, his left foot is now nearly as good as the right.
His academy coach said the other night that his close ball control is just ridiculous…
Betting has been suspended on Cesar joining Arsenal….

  25. Scott from Oz says:

Hi Potter….he has been doing that himself since 2 years old 🙂
I leave him be…he does enough by himself.
I don’t want to ruin him lol

  26. W.A.T.H says:

Repetitive it maybe Potter but your right mate, best way that when a ball comes to you that you don’t have to think about left or right it just becomes natural to use what ever foot..! Also take corners one left footed one right, builds strength..!

  27. Scott from Oz says:

The kid hates all the right clubs as well, so if by some miracle he made it, there really is only one club!!

  28. W.A.T.H says:

You won’t ruin him Scott, the both footed thing in this day and age will put him above many many players who are so one footed. you don’t need to push him just keep reminding him, both feet so it becomes 2nd nature, if he don’t have to think then your on a winner..! I broke a bone in my right foot when I was 8, best thing ever as I could only then use my left foot for 3 weeks…! even at 8 i could see the difference it made.

  29. W.A.T.H says:

As much as there would only be one club Scott he’d sign for anyone who offers a pro contract, it’s a step up the ladder mate…! Only one club he can’t join….! swamp dwellers down the road..!

  30. rico says:

I am Wath, just been do exactly that in the chicken area 😉

And after cutting the hedge ….

£60k a week will do nicely thank you….

  31. Scott from Oz says:

Shit, if he ever became a Spud i would disown him lol.
Then again, as his manager and on 75% of his wages…….nah, couldn’t do it 🙂

  32. Ismail quality says:

Plz and plz. Mr. Wenger try and sign beta playerz 4 us . So that we wil b able 2 challenge 4 trophies diz season.

  33. W.A.T.H says:

    Scott, careful I don’t have a word in young Scott’s ear… I’ll be his agent for 49.9%..! 😉

  34. Scott from Oz says:

He signed me for life Wath.
Well, he was only 8 months old, so scrawled something on the contract.
Crayon holds up in court, surely 🙂

  35. W.A.T.H says:

Just spoke to the Mrs Scott, she says as it was signed by a minor it becomes invalid when he hits 16…! 😉

  36. allezkev says:

So that’s Bob Wilson as chairman or chairperson…

Wonder if they’ll invite Frank McLintock onto the Board?

  37. rico says:

Real confirm Jose is heading back to the Chavs…

Wonder how much he will spend on winning the PL….

  38. stevepalmer1 says:

    Afternoon all, Nice one Rico.
No one actually signed a freebie in the wings a rumour of a 32 year old stiker what the hell are we becoming. Rumours in the papers that Poldi could be on the move, but of course we have to fund Our 32 year old striker, and all i have to look forward to is watching the Ox and Theo on the box later. Ramsey having a holiday with his mate, do us a favour Aaron stay there and play with your mate.

  39. potter says:

That’s the penalty for having become a selling club , the vultures are circling and the papers/ blogs/ pundits will feed the frenzy.

  40. stevepalmer1 says:

Can’t see anything happening till they have sold all their season tickets, And then i don’t expect a lot.

  41. rico says:

    Hi Sp

That sun got to you 😉

AW has said that no player of importance will be sold…

Question is, who does he believe to be important?

  42. tsgh says:

    Afternoon fellow gooners,

Nice one Lady rico… Bob Wilson is a true gent but will he be a ‘Yes’ Man to Stan? And I mean no disrespect to this fine old gent…

Hi Scott… you finally made you way home after the night out 😀

Don’t worry Scott, Capoue will come to the EPL; but may be not to us though 😉 It is well known we bid £15M for him on the 30th of January. Unfortunately, Casanova wanted over £20M for him and the player’s performance was dire to say the least afterwards…, Emma is the ligue 1 expert so …

I think if the player does a ‘Wiltord’ he will be coming to us… otherwise PSG and Monaco want him too so…

  43. allezkev says:

Well of course, we can believe everything that Wenger says, can’t we?!
Nobody could ever accuse Arsene of misleading the fans… 🙂

    Afternoon Boss.

  44. rico says:

Thanks Ts, I very much doubt we offered £15M for Capoue, and it’s even less likely that we have offered £17m for Sow..

CO is worse than HH for rumours 😉

  45. tsgh says:

Gerv stats states 18 games, 5 goals with 34 flaky shots in the EPL alone… much better than I thought!

2 goals in 6 games in the CL…

He is annoying but there is no denial he is useful as a squad player…

  46. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Rico, I reckon Wenger needs a bit of sun. he looks like he could do with a holiday might lossen his tongue a bit. Bob Wilson as chairman, should do a better job there than he did with the keepers. I read that Freddy is on his way back, funny how we can fill up useless positions but find it hard to fill important ones. this £70 million pot could be £90 million this time next year.

  47. allezkev says:

Ginge, dare you not, cast doubt on that wonderful blog Caught Offside.
It is to Mick, what Bleachers Report is to Adam.
    A font of all knowledge…

Now where did I put my sickbag…

  48. tsgh says:

Hi Rico, yes HH is that website that ones stated we had signed Messi and Mágico González… I don’t trust them either especially one of their bloggers called Ginge… 😉

    Hi Ak

  49. rico says:

Sp, I suspect he’ll have his cheque book at the Under 21’s Euro comp!

He doesn’t do holidays until 1st July 😉

  50. tsgh says:

Scott wants us to sign half of the Socceroos including Harry Kewell… 😀

He thinks Johhny Warren is better than Pele… 😛

Ak, just don’t show the war scars and the eight-point star tatoo to Russian tourist… lol

  51. tsgh says:

Sadran and Cassanova both mentioned it… what they said though was the bid was not even close to the 20M they are looking for…

  52. rico says:

    No Ts, watching the cricket…

I don’t believe them, no doubt just looking for a bigger offer….

  53. allezkev says:

There seem to be, increasing ‘reports’ about Borussia Dortmund’s ‘reported’ interest in Lukasz Podolski…

Surely Arsenal wouldn’t consider selling him after only one season?
He seems very happy at Arsenal, and is well-liked by the majority of fans, especially the away fans.
I can’t see any reason why Wenger would sell him, unless he gets a fantastic offer and has a replacement lined-up.

    So, for me, it’s a non-story.
Among so many non-stories at this time of the Summer.

  54. Adam says:

Evening all. Plants fed, grass swept, dinner being prepared, Gervinho staying, Kev topless, PHW going, Bob arriving, nice cup of tea, champagne on ice, Jabba lurking. Ain’t life grand.

  55. allezkev says:

I know that his huge wage-packet should ease away any reservations he may have about his future.

But i’d love to know what Robin Van Persie thought about Ferguson retiring and being replaced by David Moyes…???

Has the realiasation, that the next three years of his humongous contract, may not be peppered with trophies and winners medals, sunk in yet?

As I was discussing with Adam yesterday, Moyes has an unblemished record of winning nowt.

And it was Ferguson’s personality and iron-will, that drove a very ordinary ManUre to their last two titles. It certainly wasn’t a lorry-load of talent, that’s for sure.

Yep, i’m gonna watch very carefully to see how the Mancs respond to the change of leadership up there.

Liverpool’s fall from pre-eminance was sudden, and long lasting. Are the Mancs set to follow in those Scouse footsteps…

    Robin, enjoy the ride… 🙂

  56. allezkev says:

Adam, i am full of admiration, for the way you keep your lawn….
It is a work of art and the envy of your neighbours, i’m sure.

    Thanks Rico…

    Work calling, lata…

  57. Adam says:

Kev. Nothing would give football fans more pleasure than the demise of Man Utd. There would be something poetic in seeing Van Persie angling for a move as the stunning ordinariness of Moyes’ physical football comes home to roost.
As Umfalozi Odabina said to Angel Brickhouse, “Pass me the Halbard Shaft”.

  58. Adam says:

JM. Let’s hope it’s a true revolution with all the blood and gore those things usually engender.

  59. rico says:

If we do Ak, it shows AW is being more ruthless. Or he’s been reading Adam’s comments 😉

  60. allezkev says:

JM, it’s doesn’t always quite work out, the second time around.

Mourinho won’t have Drogba this time.
Nor a Lampard in his prime, likewise Terry, Makalele, Cech, Essien…

Football has moved on from 2004-5.

I’m not sure that Mourinho has?!!!

    Gone now…

  61. Adam says:

Mourinho laments the decline of “values” in football.
You really couldn’t make that one up.

  62. rico says:

    Evening Adam..

Ak, I reckon Moyes will shock a few. He’s never had money to spend, yet done really well….

    Now he’ll have money…

Whether he’ll be big enough for the dressing room remains to be seen I guess…

  63. Adam says:

He is one of those men who appears to have done well but has never won anything. Even The Twichster won the FA Cup. He did bankrupt a club in doing so, but he won.

  64. Adam says:

He’s another Scottish bully Rico and I don’t care for his lawn either.
Fergie has set him up for a fall.

  65. rico says:

If he has, then good Adam. I don’t give a flying one for him or his new club…

Nor Jose, I hope he fails big time. Talk about a half pint male with a huge bloody ego!!

I’d rather the old Wenger any day of the week…..

  66. devilgunner says:

    Good Evening Lady and Gentlemen.

Seems as if the honourable senior gentlemen are here.

Kif int Habib? How are you Adam?

    Lady of HH?

Good discussion regarding Moyes. I wonder what is going to happen. Kev has pointed out some good points regarding purse strings. Did not get into my head before I read them.

  67. rico says:

    Good Adam 😉

Evening Devil, with money, I think he’ll do rather well…

Must just go grab a sandwich….

    Back in a dash…

  68. Joaquim moreira says:

    Nani – Monaco ?
    Leandro Damião- totts ?
    Mangala -Chelsea ?
    Modric – Chelsea ?

  69. devilgunner says:

No mate. it is not. Experts are predicting a summer less summer this year. The sea is refusing to warm. (tbh I like it this way since I hate the heat and the sun)

  70. rico says:

Night Adam, it’s always quiet after the season ends, you wait until we start signing players…..

    😆

  71. devilgunner says:

Surfing through NN at the moment one can realise that everything is pure speculation and gambling. Idiotic journalist who gamble with speculative articles and also clubs who gamble with their money and speculate that the player they buy will fit in and turn their team into a better one.

Standing at a distance from all this euphoric and bombastic hullabaloo one can easily come to some conclusions that the few people manage to put their money where their mouth is, and these are only a few, either do not know the game of football or else money is trivial to them.

Is Cavani really worth 54million? Is Falcao the 60million dollar man?
Is a combination of Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko worth 110million?

The fee alone is misleading. There is also the wage bill. Inzaghi was never on a monstrous 250K pw that Shrek is on and the 175k that the togolump was reputed to be upon. Yet given a straight choice betwen the above three many people who know me will realise who I will pump for. Not even Owen was on those wages, yet when he was not injured and in his prime I would have definitely chosen him over the above.

How much would David Luiz cost now? He is in his prime and Mourinho would be an idiot not to construct a team around this fine player. But Koscielny cost only 10million. Obviously I would like both of them in my defence but although technically Luiz is better Koscielny is a great tactician and good marker. He is a good finisher as well and a big game player as he has amply showed whenever the big game arrived.

Would you buy Grenier for 10 million or Fabregas for 35 million? That is a conundrum that will provide a big headache for any manager. One might point out that Fabregas is already proven while Grenier is not. But I would be the first to point out the question…..will Cesc have the same, better or worse success this time around? That is pure speculation since the team is now built around Aaron, Cazorla and Arteta. Removing one of them out of the equation to replace him with Cesc might not work out at all. Wilshere I hear some shout. Yes. But the team seemed to function better with that trio when needed.

It is good to have a high level replacement if one gets injured. Imagine AW buys Capoue. Would a midfield trio of Capoue, Wilshere and Cesc work any better than Arteta, Aaron and Cazorla?
Would the flanks work better with Podolski and Theo than it would with the OX and Cazorla? Yes we might get a real winger, and we do need one that is for sure, but would he get into double figures like our regular wingers have done?

Would Shrek do a job for us? Of course he would. Especially if he was going to be the main man. If he is to be stolen, and STOLEN in capitals for around 27 million then he would definitely be a better bet than Cavani and Falcao for sure. But would his head be in the right place? Or would he do a togolump and play at a good level only when he needs a new contract?

Buying a player is a double edged sword. And paying high money as many seem to want is tantamount to a close encounter with the basic instinct of a russian roulette. Give me Kozzer any day. Koscielny who many asked. Koscielny?? wtf is he? ahahahahahaha.

But that seemed 10 million well spent now doesn’t it?

  72. devilgunner says:

Then there is the dilemma that is the referees. Dowd ,Webb and a host of other dickheads all seem to have it against AFC. Why?

What is going to happen now that SAF is out of the equation and is not there to give them any more arse induced pleasures? Getting cocked up after having a pleasurable 26 years controlled by a Manure icon is going to become nightmarish now. Those who had it in for Moyes and favoured Manure will now be like rabbits in the headlights. What now? Watch the decisions carefully next season. Whereas before it took only a split second to decide now it will take longer to see where loyalties lie.

That might well be the difference between Manure finishing in the top four or outside it for the first time in God knows how many years.

  73. devilgunner says:

Just found this…….too good not to share……….. 😆

The problem with Tottenham is nobody bothered
Until one Sunday in April when, horror of horrors.

The Arsenal turned up with the title in sight
It was too late to weep – it was too late to fight.

And then Tottenham men realised what fools they had been
To accept second-best as a club, as a team.

Is there light in the tunnel? It’s too early to tell
Because Spurs need good players and a good boss as well.

They search throughout Europe, they look far and wide
To find someone to manage this terrible side.

They’ve been over to Italy and seen Trappattoni
(Though many insisted their interest was phoney).

Giovanni, he listened and, eyes filled with glee,
Said: “Manage in London? Next season? Who, me?

    I’d be highly delighted, It’s right up my street;
Three million up front, ninety grand a week.

When can I get started? I’m ever so keen
I’ve always admired your Arsenal team.”

The Spurs men, their faces were creased up with pain:
“We’ve not come from Highbury, we’re from White Hart Lane.”

The Italian smiled, shook them all by hand
And said: “Gentlemen, sorry, I’ve other things planned.”

The moral of this story: He’s a wise man, old Trap.
Better stick with ARsenal because Tottenham are crap.

  74. devilgunner says:

I am watching a documentary on falconry at the moment. Its incredible……they can reach speeds of up to 320 km/h.

  75. tsgh says:

    Evening again…

A Monica and Bill incident allegedly happening at no.10…

    Dev well said at 19:18…

After France plays mid-week and everyone is fit we shall see…

Hopefully sick-note Stevan will make it through if we are truly after him…

  76. Micko says:

Scott, what’s that in the Queen’s English ?
Nice goal from the Ox tonight.
Rooney and Walcott look like they’ve been playing together for years, could this be a taste of things to come…..Aye Aye rico.

  77. Scott from Oz says:

A few words missing sorry Micko lol
It was very early his morning:)
As little happening in the world over here as there is over there.
Basically, a boring time of year!

  78. Micko says:

Scott, your so much more chilled out these days, must be something in the water.
Only 17 more days till the opening day fixtures, I need to get out more ! don’t work too hard, bank holiday here matey, laters.

  79. Lee says:

Morning all… if Dortmund really want Podolski why don’t we have Lewandowski off of them plus some cash? They then don’t need to sell another one of their players to Bayern…. just a thought!

  80. rico says:

    Morning Lee and all…

Lewandowski to BM is pretty much done isn’t it?

Mind you, AW soon jumped in and stopped a deal when he wanted Park 😉

  81. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

It was interesting to watch Prince Poldi orchestrating things for the Germans from central midfield last night… they did lose to the good old US of fecking A 4-3 though…

I was very impressed with his distribution and awareness and of course his long range efforts…
