A New Dawn on the horizon as Pat Rice signs of with a bump…..

Morning all,

Just thought I would share a photo:

Enjoy the day Gooners…..

It couldn’t have started better could it, Robin made a tackle just inside the Baggies half and the ball cannoned back towards the home side keeper Fulop – well, Fulop saw the ball heading his way and came out to meet it but instead of hoofing it to safety, he tried to wait for the ball to get back into his safety area in order to pick it up.

Yossi nipped in and rolled the ball into the back of the net.

1-0 – perfect start!

The Baggies woke up though and Marc-Antoine Fortune forced a good save from Wojciech Szczesny’s near-post but, already it was clear that holes in the defence were present. Santos was a bit gung-ho and Jenks was getting caught of position.

Morrison was causing a few problems to our defence and he played the perfectly placed ball through to release Shane Long to fire home for the equaliser. Great pass, good finish, just a shame Long was two yards offside!

Regardless, the defence was exposed as it always seems to be these days!

It was the same just two minutes later when Jenkinson and Koscielny seemed to have Dorrans covered but he headed the ball into space just inside the penalty area and planted the ball past Szczesny to make it 2-1!

Our left back then became left winger and goal scorer!

Song dispossessed Youseff Mulumbu and pushed the ball into the path of Santos, he tricked his way past one, then two West Brom players and then fired his shot just inside the near-post.

Fulop managed to get his hands to it but the power in which Santos unleashed his shot was all too hot to handle. 2-2!

Then, from a harmless corner taken from Robin van Persie, we took the lead. The ball was crossed in towards the middle of the penalty area and Fulop tried to punch the corner but he totally naffed it up. The ball landed at Koscielnys feet and he volleyed home into an empty net.

3-2 to us and that is how it remained….

Stressful times followed, Robin van Persie made a goal-line clearance from Jonas Olsson, Szczesny saved rather well from an acrobatic shot from Keith Andrews and Kieran Gibbs made a last-ditch, match winning tackle in injury-time to prevent Billy Jones from bringing the scores level.

The final whistle blew, it was our day….

Arsene and Pat had a ‘man-hug’ which went on for ages and everything was ‘happy’.

Good result, but another dodgy performance…

Pat Rice went off in style, knowing that every season he has been alongside Arsene Wenger; his team had secured Champions League football, that’s some record isn’t it…

For he’s a jolly good fella…..

It’s a new dawn and a new day from now on, Steve Bould steps in and with it hopefully will come new ideas….

Start of a new beginning??

Maybe, but for now let’s just enjoy finishing above the very Tiny Totts – and just maybe we’ll cheer the Chavs on Saturday….. 😉

Have a good day all…..

    Morning all…

Now to sort RvP and Theo’s contract and get our summer signings sorted…

No faffing around please Mr Gazidis….

  2. devilgunner says:

Good Morning Fine Folks of the Gunners’ Faith.

Good post Rico. Yesterday was no time to write up a full match report…..everyone on his nerves. It would have taken a cold blooded man to write a full good match report. Good thing I did not have my laptop with me yesterday. I would have MOURINHOUED it Jose style……..smash it in two or three. 😆

    Check your inbox Rico.

  3. rico says:

devil, only see the highlights so it’s tough to do a full one 😉

Have to pop out for a couple of hours shortly but will check my inbox when i get back 🙂

  4. EastSidePaul says:

I don’t know if I am too pleased about Bould becoming the new assistant manager, was hoping that the new AM would come from external sources.

This contract business should have been tied up a long time ago, It is unreal how we never lern from our mistakes, its crazy to allow such a huge player to enter into the final year of his contract!

We need to buy this summer, and buy big, which I can’t see happening.. The likes of M’vila need to be brought in with half the squad on its way out!

  5. Kc says:

    Mind d fucking gaps….thank u pat rice…u remain in our heart….sign up benny too…lov d guy

  6. Kc says:

I neva thought we will qualify let alone of third position…that tackle should give and motivate gibbs to be a better player

  7. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Thank God for that…. Now let’s go out and address our imbalances to eradicate that 19 point gap.

  8. Lee says:

Morning all….how about us celebrating wining something this time next season, not finishing above that shower of shit up the road or a top four position!
Get RVP’s contract sorted, bin the dross and add some quality players FFS!
    Forever in our shadow!!! COYG!!!!

  9. EastSidePaul says:

I have a feeling when RVP sits down with Wenger money will not be an issue, I think it will be who is coming in. RVP needs to win something, and i think if he doesn’t get assurances of Wenger that players are coming in I think he will leave, I know we all talk about Nasri leaving for money, but I have a feeling he may have had the same talk last year and wasn’t happy with who he was playing with! (Or where he was playing)

Am i the only HH member enjoying d automatic qualification…..

Yes mate. you are the only one enjoying it…….because the rest of us are FUCKING ECSTASIC. 😆

  11. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

49 goals is an absolute disgrace. That really needs to be addressed by Wenger and Bould.

  12. emma says:

    Hi rico, lee
In my honest opinion, I dont think RVP will be a gunner next season. After the team went into the tunnel after the match, RVP was the only player out bidding Arsenal fans farewell. His comment when he was being interviewed didn’t help matters either. Wishing him the best if he decides to jump ship. Glad we finished above tiny tots

  13. devilgunner says:

    Joking KC.

ESP…..you are right about the RVP situation. Its not money. its about the players who will make up the squad.

Regarding Bould I am pleased, but I would also have been pleased if AW bought in someone like Martinez of Wigan to prepare him for the time when he takes over. Time will tell if Bould is right or not.

  14. Lee says:

ESP, I agree with you….Poldolski is a step in the right direction, we will have to buy more players of his caliber. Surely Vertonghen is a no brainer…..closely followed by M’Vila!!

  15. devilgunner says:

The fact that RVP stayed behind to salute the fans may have been the final goodbye. I do not think that he wanted to leave. I think that its the club who want him to leave to make money out of him. If they get around 25 million for him the club, when they consider his age, his fitness record and his wages, will feel that they are better off selling him than renewing his contract. If a man in the prime of his years was always injured what will you expect when he hits 30???

  16. Scott From Oz says:

Looking back to August, everyone wouldve shot Wenger if we had missed top 4,yet come September, would kiss his arse to finish in CL position…..funny old sport.
Anyway, that season is done and dusted, whether you consider it a success or failure is an individual choice, but pretty irrelevant.
    On to next season.
I detest the fact trophies can be bought,so I really hate the fact Citeh won..not that I’m upset Utd didn’t,mind you,so Its not all bad.
It does show our owners, board and manager that more needs to be spent, better quality players brought in,to compete again.
More than any season in recent times, next season will show once and for all exactly what our hierarchies ambitions are.
If they choose to make profits then fine, have the balls to come out and say so.
We may hate it,but would at least respect the honesty.
If they don’t spend and leave Wenger to toe the line and cop the abuse, then they should be banished forever from the club.

  17. DutchGooner10 says:

ESP That’s my concern for a while as well, pending a couple of seasons back to back.

Now Arsenal need a massive clear out in the worst possible transfer market conditions. With the 25 quota and 34 earners on the books there are 9 salaried season tickets up for grabs by the board. They should have shifted players in trios some time ago to fetch reasonable fees. Now we might as well print a bargain sale magazine rather than individual player prospectusses.

BTW Morning all. Happy Totts. Day part deux. 😉

  18. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

You’re right Lee, if we have any hope of winning the title next season, we can’t concede more than 25.

  19. EastSidePaul says:

Both Vertonghen and m’vila should be in Arsenal shirts already, we need RVP to stay, we need the players to win.

As I said before I think either M’Vila comes in or RVP walks, the reason for this is because with Podolski coming in we now HAVE to go back to 4-4-2 for RVP to stay, playing the 2 up front, now we need M’vila to play in Midfield with Arteta as we do not have the players capable of playing two in mid at the moment, we need 3 to do the job of 2 right now…

The wings need to be sorted as well, I would like to see Myichai get a run next year, although I’m sure he was bought to sell shirts and not play games.

  20. scott says:

We have won a trophy once again, 3rd place is a trophy for us, we should not have more ambition than 3rd, which is what we ultimately want and we get it as well.
Never seen a bigger conman than AW and the entire board. Champions league qualification is a trophy. We will never ever win a trophy with these clowns in place.

  21. offiong says:

Grt ending †☺ all d drama yesterday. But I hope wenger sees what we d fans r seeing. We av personnel in defense, so I won’t put conceding 49 goals in d league down †☺ a lack of talent. I do blv our defensive problem Ȋ̝̊̅§ simply bcos of our philosophy. We av †☺ cut out ds unnecesary high lines we keep in defense even we r leading in games. It makes no sense. We were all laughing at David luiz earlier in d season when our own vermaelen has been doing just d same recently. Our defenders and d DM need †☺ b made aware of their primary function I just hope steve bould can bring abt an improvement in ds regard being an ex defender himself,if not we’llb singing d same song next season. COYG!

  22. Wavy says:

Saw RvP’s post match interview on Sky last night. Do you know I’ve heard those words before stated by someone else – I remember – Terry Henry! just before he went to Barca!
If Arsenal and Wenger want to keep their captain they have to make him an offer he cannot refuse only this is not just about money this is about squad strength. Wenger has to buy the right players to support RvP’s need to fulfill his Arsenal experiences and win a pot or pots of silverware.
If the club cannot attract the necessary ‘world class players’ he, like Cesc and mammon graceless numpty Nasri will leave for better grass elseware.
Wenger just better get it right or we will be finishing alongside Liverpool next year and we don’t want to do that!

  23. devilgunner says:

There are three types of supporters…………..we have the AKB’s who are deluded enough to take shit year after year.

we have the AWB’s who throw shit year after year even if we happen to win.

We also have those who are in the middle who call a spade a spade and see things as they really are within their own perspective.

  24. Adam says:

Good morning Rico and all. CL qualification is great but, for me, it has highlighted many more negatives than positives and time is of the essence if they are to be addressed. IF Bould has been bought in to sit next to Arsene on the bench and nod when required then it is a waste do time. But, if he has been bought in to give a realistic assessment of where we are defensively and to recommend what positions need to be re-enforced AND to coach the defense, then I say yes. If Wenger really has the balls to build a new team around the decent players we have and get rid of the dross, even if he has to pay off their contracts, then I see that as a real positive but I am unconvinced he will do this. And if he spends, quite liberally, to buy the class of player we are going to need to be truly competitive, he is going to need to be backed by Stan and the board. So, I see the close season as a three stage operation. At the moment I am unconvinced Robin will stay but I believe he owes the club and hope he does. I remain unconvinced that Wenger is the man to take us forward but would like to be proved wrong. It is just that, at the moment, I see us as SO far from where we need to be if we are looking to properly establish the club as a European giant and not a soft touch that I still feel that a massive shake up is needed from the board down and Wenger has too much baggage and weight of history to really change. I pray that we are not all blogging away at the end of August bemoaning events, but experience tells me that this is likely. Wenger’s last press conference/economics lecture was a disaster and showed me how little football dynamics he has left. But, there is always hope. We need to move swiftly and decisively and we need to start that NOW.

  25. Scott From Oz says:

That’s the Le Grove point of view.
How much difference has the relentless insulting of Wenger by those inbreds on Le Grove achieved?
How much has the complaining and whining by the Wenger bashers achieved?
On the other hand, how much has the praising of Wenger by the AKB’s done.
The answer is zip, zilch, nothing,so why bloody bother?
Yes,we are here to discuss all things Arsenal.
Yes,we all hope for some trophies.
Why is it though that some people, some sites do nothing but trash the owner, board, manager, coaching staff and players????
Some never have a kind word to say about Arsenal.
How is that supporting the club?
Criticise all you want, but unless its mixed with positive comments, its just drivel.
We all know what’s wrong,we just don’t all talk about it every single time we log on.

  26. devilgunner says:

I will second that Scott from Oz. But be careful mate….do not fall for it. Ignore certain comments mate. That is the best thing.

  27. Adam says:

Merely repeating ad nauseaum that we haven’t won anything for x number of years doesn’t seem exactly constructive I must admit. But it seems to satisfy some.

  28. Scott From Oz says:

    I know Devil.
I get frustrated because I just don’t get it.
Anyway,Podolski is a great start, but he really needs to be just that,a start.

  29. devilgunner says:

I thought that we had won yesterday. it seems more like 7 hours or 7 days or 7 weeks or 7 months. YIKES……7 years???? Time really flies.

    Some people are so miserable.

  30. scott says:

Thats my point of view, and not anybody else’s. What pisses me off is the ambition of the club, and that ambition is to finish 3rd or 4th, qualify for CL, thats it.Why cant we be more ambitious and look for winning trophies.
Somewhere fans are responsible for this state of affairs, that is to appreciate finishing in CL or above tiny tots as winning trophies.

  31. devilgunner says:

exactly Scott (OZZY) Podolski needs to be just the start.

Regarding RVP I have mixed emotions. On one hand I want him to stay but on the other I want him to leave due to many reasons hoping though that the money is reinvested.

  32. Scott From Oz says:

Watching yesterdays game,I really think we need a true defensive midfielder,so hope we get M’Villa.
Our back 4 cop the blame as always, but you could drive a convoy of buses through the middle of the park, which is always the case when we don’t play well.

  33. devilgunner says:

As I have been saying Ozzy……..our midfield is too lightweight to protect the back four. We need a solid defensive midfielder. One who has raw strength, raw speed and raw engine.

  34. eric says:

    Morning Arsenal fans
Yesterday was a delight that we finish the nerve racking season 11/12 and above Tottenham and Chelsea. RVP will stay because i tell you that arsenal want to go for this and the signings that would come in would bring quality to arsenal FC, nobody saw Pappie Cisse,Jelavic coming? Not too expensive but quality. Arsenal will bring in players and i see Yan Mvilla,Vertonghen coming to arsenal and a couple of others and players also leaving Alumunia,Bertner,Vela,Charmak,Danilson,Park,Arshavin,Eastmond etc and also young players coming in Chambalain,Whilshere,Campbell,Ryo maichi,Miguel. Arsenal are going to dominate world football. And i have a feeling its gonna be an Arsenal v Udinese champion league final next season

  35. Adam says:

Devil. I agree but a lot more defensive discipline would hardly go amiss too. I like defender who can defend first.

  36. EastSidePaul says:

Ok here is a crazy senario.. Sell RVP, bring in M’vila to play beside Arteta in CM, then play Podolski up front with Arshavin playing in the hole behind him??

  37. DutchGooner10 says:

No need to shout Adam. 😛

Scott (from Skippy-land) said it best right after the last whistle. Wenger should be shooting out e-mails on a laptop while traveling back to London. Wearing the party hat and biting down on a chameleon tongue hooter if he must feel festive. By all means.

Okay that weren’t Scott’s exact words but it touches the rousing of public sentiment.

  38. Scott From Oz says:

That’s the rider Devil…they MUST spend it if they get it for RVP.
Imagine the chaos if they let him go without spending up……it will make last year look like a tea party.

  39. Scott From Oz says:

    Close enough Dutch.
Paul, any reason Ox can’t step into the #10???
I reckon he could do it,given time

  40. EastSidePaul says:

Yeah Ox could alright, with time of course, he also looks a decent CM at times!
But I would like to see Arshavin come back and get some time into his preferred role. If RVP does go, I think Pod & Arshavin up front could be an excellent combination!

  41. EastSidePaul says:

I also like the idea of Arteta and M’Vila partnership in the midfield, both cover very well, and both are very good on the ball. I think that could be a combo as good as Cesc & Flamini was all those years ago! And we do need a new CD. As much as I have wanted Kos & Verm to work, its not looking too good at the moment, maybe more time is require and protection from the Midfield. Thats where I feel Song lets the team down where M’Vila would not.

  42. Thorny says:

    Morning

It did my head in watching Nasri jumping about. His season was just OK for City where as for Aresenal the year before he scored some stunners and was a star!! No matter what he says about moving for medals……well thats fine but its not the same as being a star member of a squad like Arseanal and winning!

For this reason (and another) I have a theory on RVP.

RVP would have seen Nasri win, throw bubbly about etc, (you could see him worming his way the front with clichy). But RVP will have also seen that Nasri was a stock player that spent plenty of time on the bench, just one of the boys. Now I dont think this appeals to RVP, I think he knows that this would happen to him aswell at city, if not season 1 then deffo season 2. So this would mean moving to City (big club) not really up his street. He said himself how much he loves the batman banners etc.

So, the other 2 clubs mentioned other than MU are R madrid or Barcelona. BOTH SPAIN
Well why do you think Pep just left….he’s not stupid.
Greeces ecconomy is in tatters and their unemployment is at 21% odd……Well Spains is at 25%!!!! Spain is staring down the barrel and pep knew that this will effect football soon. Barca and R madrid will suffer.
Now Wenger didnt come down in the last shower and neither did RVP. Dont you think this point may come up in the meeting?
Arsenals strong financial possition and ethics may be THE most important thing in the end to keep RVP. ??

  43. Scott From Oz says:

M’Villa,Arteta,Song,Rosicky,Ox,Arshavin,Diaby,Coquelin,Wilshire….did I miss any……that’s one hell of a midfield line up when available .

  44. Thorny says:

Yes she does Scott. I believe its of huge importance. Its sounds very basic in this day and age of massive contracts and cloak and dagger dealings but……..everyone is different and i really believe that RVP wants a team built around him and some extra dosh for his signature. Also some new players so we can stuff it up nasris *@!! Im not a behavioral psychoanylist but I’ve read the RVP history and he is not the same as alot of footballers.

  45. Scott From Oz says:

Choose your top 3 signings, given the choice, but be realistic.
    M’villa,Vertonghen,Huntelaar for me.

  46. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Huntelaar – no thanks. Good goal scorer but offers nothing else. It’s like playing with 10 men 95 per cent of the time.

  47. vernat1066 says:

Morning, Vermaelen in midfield not a bad shout with the bfg and kos at centre half. Top three signings fellaini, sigurdson and bent

  48. DutchGooner10 says:

Huntelaar not for me. Bundesliga suits him fine, upper tiers not so much.

M’villa,Vertonghen, Damaio (Brazilian lethal box fox striker, silky skill mix of Romario and Ronaldhinio)

  49. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Fellaini, Sigurdsson and Bent?! No thanks – so average and doesn’t improve our squad a great deal.

  50. vernat1066 says:

Bent 100 league goals in 229 games, Average? the other two maybe but sigurdson has done well at Swansea and fellaini at everton. More importantly they all have experience of the league the pace of it etc… if we bring another three players from abroad even if they were good in their league then we will have yet another transitional year i am afraid with at some point 40% of the outfield players never having played in the league.

  51. Scott From Oz says:

Pele, maybe we need someone who can pop in and out of a game but make an impact.
Vernat,I reckon there’d be midfielders shitting themselves if Vermaelen was standing opposite.
He can take players on,has a terrific passing game, loves to shoot and can tackle….he’s a born midfielder.

  52. Scott From Oz says:

    He has moments Vernat.
Sometimes he looks like the best in the league, then the worst.
Playing up the pitch would make the most of his strengths, and his inconsistencies wouldn’t be so harshly punished.

  53. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Of course he’s average. He failed at Spurs and his all-round game isn’t good enough to make it here. Fellaini brings nothing to our midfield and it’s too early to judge Sigurdsson after only 6 months.

We have solidified third. If we can bring in top players, they can use pre-season to integrate themselves within the squad and we can go from there. We need people who can play our game and Bent definitely can not.

Scott, Huntelaar off the bench is a definite. He should not be starting for a team looking to win the title though.

  54. Scott From Oz says:

Pele, our best 11 is a match for anyone, but the bench has cost us plenty this season.
RVP and Podolski starting would be great,Huntelaar would compliment them beautifully.

  55. vernat1066 says:

Disagree with you on Fellaini i think he would bring an edge to our midfield that is missing, he knows and has played with Arteta and Vermalen, Bent i agree does not perhaps do as much in open play as he should/could but he does score goals. I also can see sigurdson as a punt but at his age i think at the price worth a go because i cant see us paying 20+ for anyone our price range is around the 10-15 mark. Perhaps dmbele fro Fulham who is in the last year of his contract is worth a look if fellaini is too expensive as he also brings experience of the league and understanding with Vermalen.

We need not just more flair in our play but more discipline and responsibility as long as the players who come in bring that then who ever we sign is welcome

  56. Lee says:

Bent doesn’t get my juices flowing but I think one of Felliani or M’Vila is a prerequisite to help out the defence!

  57. allezkev says:

Afternoon Gooners of the Champions League…
Afternoon Rico. Great post, all things considered.

Yes, our defending is a problem, but i believe that it’s made worse by the lack of a clinical edge up front!

  58. Scott From Oz says:

Lee,let’s get the frenchman. Younger,cheaper,French…..Wenger will love him….hopefully.

  59. allezkev says:

    RVP……….. 38 apps, 30 gls,
    Tw14………. 35 apps, 8 gls,
    Tv5……….. 29 apps, 6 gls,
    MA8……….. 29 apps, 6 gls,
    Gerv………. 29 apps, 4 gls,
    YB30………. 19 apps, 4 gls, [sign him up ]

Average return from Gervinho, great return by Benny..

  60. Scott From Oz says:

Funnily enough,if RVP does go,I’m convinced Gervinhov will blossom.
I reckon he spent too much time looking to offload to RVP rather than going for goal.

  61. vernat1066 says:

Give Drogba a two year contract? And if cambell gets his visa gives him time to adjust to the league etc..

  62. allezkev says:

    Still buzzin’ Digger… 😉

So you’ve discovered a few Aussie ‘Glory Hunters’ in Shittie shirts then?!
    They’re everywhere mate everywhere…

You show that your a proper fan by wearing the shirt in the bad times.
So it’ll be interesting to see how many so-called Manc & Barca fans ‘man up’ this summer…?

  63. Scott From Oz says:

AK,he and his fellow Le Grovers would,as it would give some credibility to their currently weightless argument.

  64. allezkev says:

    Aussie Scott, 10.04;

Yeah, i think those guys will be more disappointed than the Spuds.
A strange way to support your team!!!
That’s if ‘support’ is the word?

  65. Scott From Oz says:

AK,there jumping out of trees, bloody fly by nighters.
I keep saying it……a true fan stands tall ESPECIALLY when things are bad.

  66. Scott From Oz says:

    I maybe dumb AK,but I truly can’t understand them.
Anyway,it takes tough times to truly appreciate the good ones.
One trophy next season,I don’t care which one,and just maybe a new dynasty can begin.

  67. Lee says:

There he is….good afternoon AK! We really need to get our signings done and dusted, no penny pinching last minute fuck-ups! Show RVP the club’s intentions….. then he’ll pen! Anything less and he’ll walk…..

  68. allezkev says:

    Aussie Scott, 10.26;

    Very well said mate.

Sent ‘you know who’ off with a flea in his ear…

  69. allezkev says:

Scott, nobody could accuse you of not being a fan mate.
Yes, you can be a tad strident at times, but i’ll always defend your right, and anyone else’s, to defend their position.
As long as it’s constructive of course…
Lee, thanks for the e-mails mate. 😛
    Agree with you 100%

  70. allezkev says:

Your not dumb at all Scott.
Their position leaves me scratching my head.
Not only their position but the vitriol that spills outta their PC’s, tbh, i find it rather sad…

  71. Scott From Oz says:

Thanks AK,just supporting my club mate.
    Lee,surely the guys upstairs realise what’s required….surely.

  72. Thorny says:

I rate ben arfa. That goal was insanely good. I’d be stoked to get him, vertong and Dempsey.

  73. Scott From Oz says:

As I said,if they’re criticism was constructive, and they actually recognised the positives, you’d heed their opinions.
They would disappear when the club was winning!!!!!
Strident….you’re being very diplomatic there lol.

  74. allezkev says:

    Aussie Scott, 10.35;

M’Vila, yes mate, my thoughts exactly, especially when i saw the West Brom midfield ploughing through our non-existant m/f.
Song was miles up front, strolling back leaving Coquelin to deal with 2 or 3 WBA runners, charging at our back-four…

  75. allezkev says:

If Song had spent less time moaning at Jenkinson and instead got a bit of a sweat on, then we may not have been so wide open….

  76. Scott From Oz says:

I am genuinely excited about next season.
I see very, very good things ahead for our club.

  77. Scott From Oz says:

Lee,there were two or three occasions where I was begging him to shoot, but no,the lob came.

  78. allezkev says:

    Lobbed passes???
    😀
Only one springs to mind Lee, and it went straight to a West Brom defender. 🙁

  79. allezkev says:

Exactly Scott, he does have a touch of the Denilson’s about him…
Look at Santos, you won’t win the raffle if you don’t buy a ticket…

  80. allezkev says:

My trio on the wish list are Dempsey, Vertonghen and M’Vila.
None of them fantasy signings like Gotze [ who i would love to see in an Arsenal shirt ].
All of them are easily attainable, if Gazides shows the proper intent & ambition.
All of them could be signed up ‘before’ the Euros…
All of them affordable and within budget.

  81. allezkev says:

Add to above; All of them are at a good age and would make an immediate impact, stregthening all areas of the squad.
All are versatile and can play a variety of positions and fill a variety of roles…

  82. Mebratu Bogale says:

we should not be talking about Spurs coz our class is not there. We might instead think about the 19 point we can not collect as it is obvious we can do it so. come on gooners

  83. EastSidePaul says:

My Trio would also include both Vertonghen and M’Vila. And then Gourcuff just because i would love him to play for Arsenal! 😛

  84. Lee says:

Now we’re talking AK, get those three signed up, along with RVP & TW (for Rico) shed all the dead wood…..hopefully Gerv will start to blossom, add miyachi to the first team…..then we’d be a force!

  85. rico says:

Hope one of our first ten fixtures next season is Qpr away, Barton will be banned 😛

McLeish is on the verge of the sack at Villa – good, couldn’t happen to a nicer man!

  86. Scott From Oz says:

Rico,he’s hit a run of games and is going well. Read a rumour that we’ve been watching him closely over the last month….yes, another rumour lol.

  87. EastSidePaul says:

No more a crock than Diaby!
    Sell Diaby bring in Gourcuff.

Also need a Goalkeeper for competition.

  88. Lee says:

“I want to thank the arsenal management staff and the players for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this great club, many thanks”

Yossi Benayoun, on loan at Arsenal from Chelsea, sends his parting wishes.

  89. Lee says:

“Every Gooner will be a Chelsea fan next week….”

    Tweets Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere…

  90. allezkev says:

    Good point Lee…
Miyaichi has progressed quite nicely at Bolton…
Will be interesting to see how far he’s come after a full pre-season with Wenger…

  91. Scott From Oz says:

I said it after his first game for us,and i will say it now, I hope we can sign him fulltime.

  92. allezkev says:

    Schwarzer, a great call Scott.
Jaaskalainin gives the impression that he wants to finish his career at Bolton.
Although things may change now they have gone down.
Now wouldn’t Owen Coyle be just the right guy to send two or three of our promising youngsters to take care of..?

  93. rico says:

Feel sad for Coyle, Bolton don’t deserve to be relegated imho….

Much rather have seen Hughes lot go down….

Nah, the rumour your read about us watching a player Scott, were you refering to Gourcouff or Hoilett?

  94. Scott From Oz says:

I read some comments from Schwarzers dad a few weeks back..his son was devastated to miss the chance to go to Arsenal.

  95. allezkev says:

Ozyakup and Aneke spring to mind Scott.
But those 3 would do for me.
If we can’t get a work permit for Campbell then another year in Lorient isn’t a bad thing imho.

  96. Scott From Oz says:

Lee,it may work in our favour. Less competition means our guys would get more game time.

  97. allezkev says:

I suppose Scott, that the Miyaichi situation revolves around Benny and if he stays or not?
With Benny & Gerv vying for the left-flank, it wouldn’t leave much room for Ryo.
If Benny leaves then Ryo comes back into the equation for next season…

  98. Lee says:

Schwarzer would be a good acquisition….
    Gourcuff would be a real AW-esque signing…..
How much time will AW give Diaby….25 man squad and he’s constantly crocked!
I reckon best policy right now is to delete “Newsnow” from your p.c…… 😉

  99. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Yes, Gervinho needs to be let loose. Best dribbler we have at the club IMO.

  100. allezkev says:

Scott, Ozyakup is a very skillfull midfielder with a great range of passing, sort of guy who can read a forwards run and give him a pass to run beyond the defence.
Can’t think of anyone who i can use, who is similar in style to give you an idea.
But i think he has 1st team potential…

  101. Thorny says:

Yossi ran much further than alot of others yesterday. The goalys fowl up was a gift but yossi was on him like rash.
As if he can go back to the bridge now.?
Get him wenger, do a deal,

  102. rico says:

Suggestion is that Vertonghen was at the Totts game yesterday and had a tour of the place….

They didn’t bother stopping at the trophy room, it had been locked of years and they couldn’t get the padlock off… Rusted..

  103. allezkev says:

    ESP/HC
Gerv certainly is a great dribbler but his distribution after beating an opponant, or three, is simply awfull.
Yesterday he got into some really dangerous positions, then had a brain-storm and gave it away.
Give him 12 months, without the ACN getting in the way, and we might have one hell of a dangerous player…
On the other hand, we might have another Glenn Helder.
    I hope it’s the former…

  104. gambeanosnitch says:

Next season do you think Wenger will use Miyiachi, Afobe and Joel Campbell as new signing excuses or roll them out for another year on loan?

  105. Thorny says:

Gibbs….. £30 mil tackle walcot is calling it.
I made a tackle like that when I was 11 for my school team. we were 3 0 down to a school better than us. We beat them 4 3 and I grabbed the 3rd goal when the ball bounced out to me from a corner. I was a defender of course and drilled it (11 yr old style) from a long way out.
The praise and comments in the next days assembly were worth 30 million quid, remember it like yesterday.
Hope gibbs is feeling good today!!

  106. Scott From Oz says:

    I’m backing Gervinho in,AK.
Rico, pride of place at WHL is their coin collection.
Winning the toss is as good as it gets for them.

  107. Thorny says:

ESP thats a good question. He looks good getting round the back when playing left side but still a headless chicken. They said this last year when playing for lille. I think the call was “he’s good but makes some infuriating decisions in front of goal”

  108. rico says:

    Welcome gambeaonsnitch..

Good question, guess it all depends on who stays and goes and for Campbell its firstly about his permit…

Don’t think either Afobe or Ryo are ready though, they would be better off on loan playing regular football imho….

  109. rico says:

😆 thorny, i strongly suspect Gibbs is feeling very good, maybe a pay rise for the young man is in order 😉

    Kidding, just kidding …..

  110. allezkev says:

Gambean, 12 months ago nobody [ or the majority ] didn’t rate Gibbs.
He would have fallen into that catagory i suppose.
    Not sure he does anymore.
All he needed was games and a change of luck in injuries.
None of us have any real idea how far, in development terms, that Miyaichi and Campbell have come in 12 months.

  111. gambeanosnitch says:

will be interesting how Miayachi works out. not sure about the ins and outs of permits but if we signed him on special talent permit and he doesnt start a 1st team game for us would the authorities have power to readdress that permit.

  112. gambeanosnitch says:

AllezKkev – i agree about Gibbs comment. though it was more based on his fitness than ability. i knew with a run of games he had the potential to make left back spot his own

  113. rico says:

Campbell should get his permit, he’s a full international etc etc so hopefully the anti-afc bodies will have no grounds to refuse him…

Quite looking forward to seeing him play, i’d rather he was on our bench than Chamakh and Park, and i haven’t even seen Campell other than Youtube 😉

  114. Thorny says:

Yeah rico, a couple of quid bonus’l do.
That funny as hell if Vertongen was about to witness yesterday. The poor guy just wants wear the cannon its obvious and wandering about at WHL batting away the moths fluttering from the tropy room must be depressing for the fella.

  115. EastSidePaul says:

I wonder if Park will get some time this pre season?! So odd that he didn’t feature at all this season, can he really be worse than Chamakh? I really hope not!

Anyone else like to see Arshavin take over RVPs role if he leaves?

  116. Scott From Oz says:

    Campbell has everything he needs Rico…..huge talent,wicked left foot,size,runs great lines,goal scorer……with experience,he could be a star.

  117. allezkev says:

Gambean; i always liked Gibbs, and don’t larf [ many on here will 🙂 ] but i think that Diaby could do likewise.
But i accept that time is running out for him.
Sadly there is a very good player in AD that we have missed out on, but because of his wretched injury record, we’ve been robbed of his talents.

  118. allezkev says:

Dutch, helder looked the dog’s bollox when he arrived, but then he had a serious haircut and became a bit of an irrelevance.
Not sure what really happen with him…

What was the view on him back in the Nederlands?

  119. Scott From Oz says:

That’s the problem AK,when to cut your losses.
Wenger tends to show a huge amount of patience.
How many would’ve stuck with RVP,Gibbs and Rosicky?

  120. allezkev says:

Rico, how could Campbell be any less effective than Chamuck [ hate his attitude ] and Park?
I’d rather have Afobe on the bench tbh.
Very raw and not ready for the EPl, but could he be any worse than our other alternatives?

  121. devilgunner says:

Hiya Sir AK. How are you mate?

Scott…..not many would have stood by them. only a handful. But then when people around you are talking millions that is a different matter. Gibbs I always liked. I think that next year we will see him come on in leaps and bounds. There are moments when he switches off but then even Clichy used to be like that. Imo the last one to stay totally focused for more than a whole season was Nigel Winterburn. He was not motivated by money, but was motivated by wanting to win and knew what his strengths were.

  122. allezkev says:

    So true Scott, so true.
I’ve not always showed that patience myself tbh, so i’m not trying to be the ‘big i am’, but i make you right, again, 🙄

  123. allezkev says:

Hi Coach, have all the ManUre shirts disappeared on your island..?
Not seen many Chav shirts down here in Kent in recent months, i’m glad to say…

  124. DutchGooner10 says:

AK short or long version biography??

Okay short it is: today he’s beating chopsticks on pigskin. Yeah that’s right imagine Phill Collins with those huge lion hoops in his ears. His back pocket is empty nowadays. At one stage he had more dept than Greece. So that turned him in a wash up with cliche consequences. Angry at the world without the decency to bust his own balls. Sad story though grew a totally cynical view on life, features a headline now and then as miserable sod.

This was the kindest version I could come up with.

  125. rico says:

    🙂 Thorny – hopefully he’ll see sense..

Scott – but does he have what it takes to be a PL striker, Chamuck has proved it isn’t easy …

  126. rico says:

AK, he can’t, you are too right there, those two have done nothing all season but pick up a huge pay cheque, surely AW has to offload both over the next few weeks…

    Diaby 🙄

  127. rico says:

We always seem to be saying we ‘have great potential coming through’ – but apart from Jack & Gibbs, who really has come through the youth system over the last few years??

  128. DutchGooner10 says:

To deepen the Greece analogy. When Glenn penned his divorce there weren’t many plates to be wrapped in newspapers.

  129. rico says:

Gary Neville has joined the England set up as a defensive coach – that’s a bolt out of the blue….

  130. allezkev says:

    That’s quite sad Dutch.

Any idea on how he was viewed as a footballer when Arsenal signed him..?
Tbh he was a total unknown to me before he arrived?!

  131. allezkev says:

Rico, Neville could do quite well.
Hope he stays with England, don’t want him back at Old Toilet

  132. vernat1066 says:

I have seen it said on here before but trough gritted teeth Neville appears to have a brain and is a decent pundit and should help having worked under good caches, but i still remember Viera scaring the crap out of him in the tunnel 🙂

  133. allezkev says:

3rd place secures CL money for next season, and allows early planning in transfer market. Club want deals in place before Euro’s.

  134. allezkev says:

Arsenal looking to add 1-2 more players to Podolski, but also need to shift big earners. Club will confirm released players shortly.

Good luck to whoever takes over from sacked Alex McLeish at #AVFC: top kids, but no money and unbalanced squad. Gulp

Is that right, has McLeish got the old ‘tin tack’..?

  136. Adam says:

Hi Rico, Kev and all. I am finding humour in Redknapp’s pronouncements of a ‘T’riffic season and 4th being the best they could achieve. After a wheeling out a different spud mug every week since the beginning of the season to trash Arsenal, especially Van De Fart with his “promise” to the swamp dwellers that they would finish above Arsenal, Redknapp’s attitude has somewhat changed. Firstly it was that they could win the title. Then that they couldn’t compete with Man City’s spending power so perhaps second and then that he was certain they would finish above Arsenal. Now of course it’s all ‘triffic this and ‘triffic that with old twitchy covering himself with glory like a pig in shit for finishing above Chelsea and Liverpool, a feat that he obviously would like to receive a “nice little drink” for no doubt. And where are the rest of the big- mouthed spuds who gobbed off so frequently during the season? It’s quiet in Spudland today with no predictions or boasts to be heard.

  137. devilgunner says:

GN with the England set up??? Good for the defence. It is a step in the right direction. Whether or not GN is a good defensive coach remains to be seen. However it already is an improvement. Maybe AW should hire a coach for the defence and DM with another coach for the forwards. DB10 anyone???

  138. rico says:

vernat, agree, neville is one of the best, if not the best footie pundit and thankfully he is staying as one too – i won’t forget him covering out Milan game, boy he wanted us to get 5 goals as much as we all did…

He has talked about his rivalry with Paddy, he loved it, in fact MU and AFc rivalry will never be matched imho – good days….

  139. DutchGooner10 says:

AK a regular Joe the plumber who got a lucky chance becoming professional footballer. Tenacity in abundance, workrate over gifted natural. Bit in the mold of old skool hard nails that supported a team by mopping up lose balls and joining attackers at their hip. Not a utility player but useful.

Have to remember the EPL has changed a lot since his arrival and departure.

  140. rico says:

Good news from jamie s AK, hope its for real and we are buying and selling, starting to feel more optimistic now….

Come on RvP and Theo, get thaose contracts signed and set the tone….

@SportingbetNick – Premier League confirmed Arsenal go straight into group phase

  142. rico says:

Hi Adam – had AW said what Arry said in his i/v last season when we scraped 4th after looking like potential PL winners, he would have been lambasted but a certain section of fans….

  143. rico says:

AK, i told you that about us not having to qualify 😉 😉

4th place is the only team that do….

  144. devilgunner says:

I worked with GN around 10 years ago when he visited our country with his school for two weeks. Boy he was good and I learnt a lot from him. But coaching young players is a lot different than coaching senior nationals, some of whom have been his team mates.

Imo he will be good for England. Hopefully he will have a positive influence on the defence.

Still I will keep on supporting the team I have always supported…and they play in orange. 😉

  145. rico says:

devil – with Banfield and Bould joining the first team, we shouldn’t need a defensive coach….

    DB or TH 🙂

  146. Adam says:

And by Gary Lineker Rico. Funny, I’ve never seen Gary the Wingnut do an impression of any other manager and certainly not a lampoon of Redknapp, although the material is there.

  147. devilgunner says:

DB10 will be a better coach Rico. He determined the games with his vision rather than seal them. We all speak about TH14 or PV04 but for me the real string puller was simply DB10. His vision of the field was superior to the others.

  148. allezkev says:

Hiya Adam, you made some really good points on here earlier…

You know, i wonder if this season, is going to be as good as it gets for Harry?

No doubt he’ll be suffering a bit of a personal reaction to losing out on the England job.

And the scummer fans have, i suspect, lost a bit of faith in him after the ‘Mind the Gap’ fiasco…

So if the Chavs knock them outta the CL it could be the beginning of another downwards spiral for the noisy neighbours?

  149. rico says:

True Adam, i still don’t know how he kept his job, despise the man…

Was jesting devil, Wenger would never bring in an offensive coach, that is his own and always will be…..

  150. rico says:

I shall be cheering on Chelsea thats for sure, got to support an Englsih team and all that eh 😉

Don’t Adam, not even in jest 😉

  151. Adam says:

Kev. I agree. Redknapp is a rampant self-promotionist but he isn’t going to get the England job or the Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal jobs is he. Sometimes it’s better to keep quiet and get on with it. Whoever worked out Spur’s press strategy this season must be on the verge of the sack. Makes them look even dumber to me. Hence the deafening silence.

  152. rico says:

AK – no CL, watch Modric, Bale, Lardy, VdV all leave and i bet City or Fergie go in for their Rb (forgot his name)

  153. DutchGooner10 says:

AK you got an Elephant memory. Wikipedia says Glenn played his entire career as winger/striker. But I remember him for defensive duties in the short period he was with us. ????

  154. devilgunner says:

TBH the team already is on the up regarding scoring. We can get better with regards finishing but its the defense and the DM positions which have me worried.

  155. allezkev says:

You know, i’m really sure who i want to see finish 4th..?
There is pros and cons attatched to both…
Whoever misses out will obviously miss the cash and may miss out on some signings.
But they’ll also have less intensive fixtures to negoitiate, and could be more of a threat for the EPL title [ i’m thinking more of the Chavs in that respect ]…
    Or a top 3 or 4 finish…

  156. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

If Wenger’s two players to add are Wilshere and Diaby, I fear for his safety.

  157. devilgunner says:

Kyle Walker Rico. He is the only player from the spuds that I would like at AFC. and he is the only player who would improve the team since he can play both the lateral positions on both sides of the field, that is he can play as a right/left back or right/left wing.

  158. allezkev says:

Dutch, i only remember him as a tricky, speedy winger.
    Can’t imagine him as a defender tbh…
Think that George Graham signed him from Vitesse?

  159. DutchGooner10 says:

Adam you got these glory hunters who can only aim at their own feet. Cuz they think pitting a dot on the horizon is the same as having your crosshair on a target.

  160. devilgunner says:

I remember Glenn Helder as a right winger. He had some good games when he came but then drifted as some of the squad did. I think that with AW Helder would have become a bit better since he had quick feet.

  161. Adam says:

Kev. Obviously, as a righteous man, I despise Chelsea. But where spurs are concerned all logic goes out of the window. I am known amongst my friends, as an easy going logical kinda guy, not normally prone to wild excesses of emotion. This does not apply where the totts are concerned. You note I don’t even afford them the respect of a capital letter even though I offends my journalistic sensibilities. CL league money won’t mean anything to Chelsea as they have billions anyway, but it will hurt the other lot and anything that does that just has to be a good thing. And for some reason my loathing of them has been compounded this season which has acted as a lens through which my distaste has been magnified. And all their mouthing-off has only compounded my repulsion of them

  162. devilgunner says:

Here its strictly support the Chavs. Me and Pa will be all for them to win. I dont give a rat’s arse about the chavs winning it but to see the scum going back to being a thursday club is the best thing I can wish for. Adam……I salute you.

  163. DutchGooner10 says:

GG left a week after he signed him. Indeed from Vitesse loaned to Benfica after 2 years. Winger springs to mind as well Devil, quick feet as his forte. But I mostly remember him being tight skin with opponents on the ball.

  164. rico says:

    me too Romford…

that’s the one devil, he is going to be good, but he won’t stay there i bet, not if things decline as we hope they will….

  165. vernat1066 says:

Good Rico shame they have no one we would want to sign now? besides bent and cant see that happening

  166. devilgunner says:

Hi Rico…..did you read the one I sent you???

Where you amazed at the revelation of the comparison???

  167. rico says:

More like too soft Adam 😉

McLeish has ruined anyone half decent vernat…

devil – just putting it into WP now, then I will read it 🙂 thank you….

  168. devilgunner says:

McCleish……ahhhhh he has served his purpose with the Villa by taking points off the scum.

  169. Adam says:

Can it be that, if Chelsea win, we will have to undergo a play-off? This changes things somewhat and is something of a catch-22.

  170. rico says:

No Adam, we are straight into the groups regardless of what happens in the final…

The joys of getting 3rd place ….

  171. rico says:

I’m still waiting for some of Adams journalism to come my way AK, in the form of Arsenal of course 😉

  172. allezkev says:

Adam, i refer you to my 3.26…

EPL have apparantly confirmed that we go straight into Group Stage…

Mind you, i wouldn’t trust UEFA not to move the goalposts…
That would make that snake Platini very happy!

  173. rico says:

They can’t AK, that rule is set in stone – not sure if the Chavs would have to qualify if they win, guess so to make up the evn numbers….

  174. allezkev says:

    Me too Rico…

As it goes i gotta get my thinking cap back on before Charlie has to take the reins again… 🙁

That would make that snake Platini very happy!……………

……….No they cannot Sir AK. For the simple fact that the rules have to be there before the beginning of the season and cannot be altered.

Rules come into effect into the season after the next which essentially a rule which is done next summer can be put in force in August of season 2013-2014.

The statute of FIFA and UEFA say so.

  177. gambeanosnitch says:

hoillet would be good signing but would that be at the expense of resigning benayoun?

  178. Adam says:

So, you can’t see my smileys? I must admit that they do appear to me on the blog, but as a rather diminished and lesser smileys than yours or Kevs. I think Kev’s are world-class. How can I get some like his Rico? I confess to smiley disfunction.

  179. devilgunner says:

No Rico…..all four English contestants go straight into the group games. That means that the EPL will have four teams without having to do playoffs.

  180. rico says:

gambean, does Hoilett not play of the right? He would challenge Theo?

imho, Chamberlain will be used centrally next season. Yossi, Gerv and Ryo on the left maybe all fighting for place…

  181. devilgunner says:

Hoillet would replace AA mate. Not Benny.

I like Benny a lot, but him and TR07 in the same team is a bit impossible if everyone stays fit.

I like Hoillet………..is he replacing Theo???

  182. rico says:

Adam, go to the top of the page, along the header is a seperate list of pages and the last one is all about how to do smileys 😛

  183. rico says:

Depends on whether Theo signs on devil, i suspect he will though…

shame – i hoped if the chavs got through they could still get knocked out 😉

  184. DutchGooner10 says:

Kev sometimes the mind plays funny tricks on ones assertion and commitment to an opinion of a subject or a person. I just saw a document years ago on Glenn’s struggles in life which showed pitch clips battling opponents tight skinned to convey his confrontational character.

Guess that sunk deeper in my mind than his athletic career. He has been jailed and treated in an addiction clinic for compulsive gambling. The total sum of the doc has clouded my idea of him. More a street dog than a house cat.

Oh well it thought my prejudice a good lesson and some extra club history.

  185. devilgunner says:

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie may be undecided over his future in north London, but his better half has declared herself happy with life in England.

Van Persie has just a year remaining on his current deal at The Gunners, after scoring 30 Premier League goals this season on the way to the club qualifying for the Champions League, which was secured with victory at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

Both the Dutchman and Arsenal are planning talks this week concerning a new deal, however the player’s wife, Bouchra, insists she wants to stay put.

We have been in London for eight years now. As a family, we love it here,” she said. “Robin is captain of Arsenal and, as many people claim, the leader of the Arsenal team.

“Arsenal believed in Robin when he was young and when he was considered as a bit of a rebel.

“We don’t want to upset things at home either. Our kids, Shaqueel and Dina, go to school here in London. And they are just as happy as we are. We still expect to sit down after this season is over and have a look at the future.

“We have to make some decisions at some point. But it is not just about Robin. He also thinks about us, his children and me. I also love it that everyone at Arsenal respects him. At the training ground, at the stadium, his teammates, the fans.

“Everyone comes up to me all the time to tell me how happy they are with him. I also see that Robin is really kind to everyone at Arsenal in return. As a skipper should be!”

The addition of Lukas Podolski is one of many potential carrots for Van Persie ahead of the new season, with the German international’s addition showing a change of emphasis in Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy.

The club will enter the Champions League at the group stage as well, meaning they will avoid a play-off in August, an added bonus of their late season resurgence which saw them beat Tottenham Hotspur to third spot.

His decision will prove pivotal to Arsenal’s hopes of breaking their seven-year trophy drought, and any desire they have of bridging the gap to Manchester City and Manchester United.

    Listen to your Wife Robin.

Now go and sign that fekking contract.

  186. Lee says:

    Adam’s got smiley issues…ah, bless!! 😆
Are you using an ipad/iphone app to post them??

  187. rico says:

Well said Mrs Robin now go tell the old man and give him a pen….

What is one of those eye thingies Lee….

  188. Lee says:

Dear Jeremy Kyle, I am 15yrs old & pregnant. My parents don’t know & haven’t met my boyfriend yet. He’s bisexual, HIV positive & has tourettes, he’s married & is 20yrs older than me. He deals drugs whilst carrying agun.He lives in a squat and is just out of prison. He’s massively into animal porn……
My problem is how do I telly my parents that he’s a tottenham fan?

  189. gambeanosnitch says:

not sure which is Hoilett’s strongest side but he is interchangable. that seems the minimal requirement for Wenger signings. gotta do a job on both wings.

  190. devilgunner says:

    See you Sir AK.

Lee….serves her right. She should have gone out with an AFC criminal. 😆

  191. rico says:

gambean, but the biggest thing about him in Wengers mind will be that he’s free 🙂

If we get him, he’d be a good addition to the squad, more depth in strength and thats what we lack…

  192. Adam says:

Not exactly free apparently Rico. I read that he will still cost money though. Perhaps his age?

  193. rico says:

Cheap then Adam, Wengers kind of price that’s for sure and I still have a feeling he will go for Nzonzi instead of M’Vila….

  194. Adam says:

N’zonzi has always impressed me as having the raw materials to be a real player Rico. Wenger probably sees him as shape-able. M’Vila too pricey for a man obsessed the World economics I suppose. We still need another striker for me and a goalie. Plus A pure defensive animal who eats Drogbas for breakfast and whose boot could cover a whole Defoe would be lovely too. I still have hopes for Squillaci Rico and I would obviously play Ramsay wide left as I have often mentioned.

  195. Lee says:

    Adam ; ) is a wink
: lol : laughing. I’ve put gaps but if you don’t smileys will appear! That’s what I do on my iPad ( my 7yr old son showed me!!)

  196. Lee says:

Well the Highbury House Christmas party should be fairly liquid as my yid mate owes a furry primate!!!

  197. rico says:

    😆 Micko….

Adam, Sadly I can’t see the club paying the kind of money that M’Vila is going to cost either, but …

Not convinced on Nzonzi, is he good enough really, he hasn’t helped BB’s cause too much, and would he be classed as too similar to Diaby, well, in areas other than fitness….

I think Merts is supposed to be that big defensive animal but he’s had a tough first season, maybe next season we will see the best of him….

As for you last sentence, you are such a hoot 😉

  198. Lee says:

True Rico, but boy have the Arsenal made me sweat…. 10 mins into our game against the yids they were 13 points in front of us FFS!!!!!

  199. DutchGooner10 says:

Adam smart keys for smileys are downloadable but only for certain text prog within Apple’s certified range. This site is made in WordPress so it won’t work here.

Solution look at the upper corner (right) of HH Rico has a practice section for typing emoticons. You can try em out.

  200. rico says:

I know, can’t believe we crawled it back really Lee, if only AW had bought our summer signings a month earlier, we’d have been challenging the mancs….

  201. Adam says:

DG. I see. But I want them to hand so I don’t have to keep referring back. Senility is a terrible thing.

  202. DutchGooner10 says:

 hotkeys are available at most devices on the text characters additionals. My HTC (smartphone) has emoticons on my second keyboard.

  203. DutchGooner10 says:

Already mentioned it Rico. But since Adam praised me as a guru I don’t want to let him down. I need followers to make any claim to fame. 😛 😈 ❗

  204. rico says:

No team in the Premier League came close to Arsenal’s record of winning 24 points from losing positions this season – and Wenger welcomed his side’s ability to finally get the job done.

“It is good to sleep better at night,” the Frenchman told Arsenal Player. “It is a tricky position in fourth because you don’t want Chelsea to win the Champions League.

“And to be fourth is playing a qualifier, which every year is more difficult. Therefore just to be in the group stage straight away is fantastic.

“It is true that we had problems getting over the line but we were not the only ones. The players have given a lot, I must say.

“I looked at the players who were out and you see we had no Arteta, no Sagna and all the others who were out but we still managed to win away from home. That is down to remarkable character and I am very proud of the achievement of the team.

“I maybe take the biggest ever [satisfaction from this season] because at some stage of the season everybody would have said you were absolutely mad. We still kept our focus and worked hard together and in the end it is a good present to give Pat Rice.”

  205. DutchGooner10 says:

Adam leave a space between 2 if you want to double the emoticons.

    😎 😎 You can’t chain them together.

  206. DutchGooner10 says:

Actually it needs a double space Adam mine worked partly cuz I only used one.

    😎 😎

  207. devilgunner says:

Just met a spuddie…he had the cheek to tell me that the swampies were unlucky!!! I just burst out laughing in his face. Told him that deep down ol’ Twitchy is an AFC fan.

He turned white when I mentioned that the chavs could knock them out of the CL.

  208. devilgunner says:

He told me that they are hoping that the chavs loose the final so that they will be in the CL and then had the temerity to tell me that we will see who gets knocked out first.

I answered that we want the chavs to win so that they will be knocked out before they start competing in it. 😆

  209. Lee says:

I’m off for a ruby, Adam confession time…..I practiced my smileys on old posts, ffs 45 yrs old and sneaking about practicing smileys!!! Get a life….. 😆
The Christmas bash’s venue hasn’t been confirmed as of yet…..

  210. devilgunner says:

Dont worry Adam………we will not mind if you dont use them or use them sparingly. Take Sir AK. He was a kinder garten boy when he started on the computer and now is a whizzkid.

  211. rico says:

Got to pop off for a bit, after the woofas antics recently, it’s dog training classes for her tonight…. 😛

    Back a bit later….

  212. allezkev says:

Adam, i copied my smileys out on a bit of card and keep it next to my PC for refence.

On my phone i have a couple that i use from some app type gizmo.
    Don’t ask me how, because i don’t know…. 😐

  213. allezkev says:

    Not organised mate.
I do it to cover up my dimness.
    I also have a dictionary next my PC… 😉

  214. ktr7 says:

There is room for improvement both offensively and defensively.the latter must be a priority surely?

  215. devilgunner says:

Correct that statement KT….THERE SHOULD ALWAYS be room for improvement. It would be more appropriate.

  216. devilgunner says:

The yardstick should be RM KT. We need better players. We are on the way there but there is need for better players than the ones we have.

  217. allezkev says:

Coach, better players are only a part of the remedy,
better defensive coaching and organisation could turn our present squad into real competitors.

We are so bloody close it does my head in…

  218. devilgunner says:

I am off now Sir AK and all ye fine folk. I am tired today.

Just a bit more regarding football….two more weeks to be exact and we consign this season to history. I feel mentally knackered this season.

    cu habib

  219. vernat1066 says:

Thinking the unthinkable, saw the picture of Arsene hugging almost hiding yesterday and its been bugging me, I never thought i would say this but that picture is of a man who cares too much and has to much pressure to deal with. With that pressure and stress i cant see how he can perform at his optimum and how we can either.

Perhaps for Arsene’s own good he should move to some where where he has less emotional involvement because i worry for him if this carries on. Now might be the time to look and say thank you and move on.

  220. devilgunner says:

He knows habib. He reads HH everyday. So you can bet on it that he has seen your message. ‘)

    See you habib.

  221. DutchGooner10 says:

While our quality growth been moderate consolidation has been overrated. Arsenal need to realize they already stretched it with the fans seasons ago, there’s a lot of affection inflation. Generating a relationship dept. Loyalty isn’t a one way street. If the board ain’t careful the next Poznan will be aimed at the skybox.

  222. allezkev says:

That was some quite shocking info on Helder, that you passed on Dutch…
I’ll have to look him up and have a read.

    What’s the latest on Vertonghen?

  223. DutchGooner10 says:

Kev shame the documentary is only in Dutch it should be pivotal course material to our academy youngsters it would teach them privileges make vulnerability come forward at a different level. Cause and effect come destructive if you lose control or focus. Bendy is study case as well.

    Anyway here the wiki http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Helder#_

  224. DutchGooner10 says:

Sir AK no real news other than he visited the Fullham game last Sunday with his agent.

Hazard chosen as best of Ligue1

Arshavin captains Ukraine in the Euros. Advocaat (Dutch coach confirmed today)

  225. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Hello!
Do you know anyn important news?
Now, mostly of the players are more concentrate in the Euro.
The boy Ronaldo scored a goal at least, at all the teams in La Liga

  226. allezkev says:

    Cheers for the Wiki Dutch.
It’s quite a sad life that Helder now lives.
I’ve just finished Peter Storey’s book.
A very good read if you can get hold of it…

  227. rico says:

No news JM, other than what jamie sanderson tweeted about 1-2 players hopefully in before euros and a list of players released will soon be announced….

  228. allezkev says:

Drummy used to be a Trainee at Arsenal.
I saw him in the Youths and Stiffs yonks ago.
He was a skillfull m/f, but lacked pace…
A few years back he was a top rated Youth coach at Arsenal.
But Chelsea lured him away when they were investing heavily in their Academy.
Not sure where he is now.
    Check your in-box My Lady… 😉

  229. Scott From Oz says:

Morning all….feeling great after a full nights sleep……comforted by 3rd spot being in the bag.
I am sending some greyhounds racing names off….Highbury Flyer sound good?

  230. allezkev says:

Drummy was very highly thought of when a coach at Arsenal.
Think he probably worked with the likes of Jack & Frim when they were 15/16

  231. allezkev says:

    Morning/Evening Scott.

Been a busy day on here today and hardly any visitors from the ‘Dark Side’ either.

    I wonder why??? 😛

  232. allezkev says:

I’ll tell ya what mate, i do wonder what ‘they’ get out of it..?
I love my football and i love Arsenal, but do ‘they’..?

  233. rico says:

Maybe he will come back then AK, should know soon ehough….

Hi Scott, just popped on to say hello as had been out with Fido for a while – soon off to hug my pillow though, glad you had a good rest….

  234. allezkev says:

How on earth can you be an Arsenal fan if it makes you so miserable that you cannot stop moaning about the team/manager/club and actually want to see them lose?!

    Is that support or paranoia???

  235. rico says:

Wanting your own club to lose a football match is so wrong on every account.

whatever you think of the manager, the team/club come first and that always means a win in my book….

  236. Scott From Oz says:

They can’t AK,or at least they cant enjoy their relationship with the club.
I grew up watching league..dad took us to games every year since I was 3-4 years old.
Rule changes over the years made it a game I just don’t enjoy so guess what…..I don’t watch it!
These guys have the same choice but would rather waste their time complaining and I can’t comprehend it.
I’ve asked a few why they bother as the board love Wenger,so regardless of what anyone thinks,he’s our manager,so why not accept the fact and support the man but its not in them.
Lifes too short to wake up angry everyday, and though they hate hearing it,football is a game, its meant to be entertaining, its not life and death, though suicide rates may have risen had Spuds finished above us!

  237. Scott From Oz says:

There are one or two I’d love to meet when I come over….especially anyone wishing Ramsey would snap a leg again.

  238. rico says:

You and me both AK, sorry Scott but my day is done too…

Nighty all, stay safe, have a good day Scott, chat tomorrow….

  239. rico says:

Don’t let them get to you Scott, otherwise they win, be bigger and better than them…

    Gone now….

  240. Lee says:

Morning all, just heard a whisper that JV had virtually signed for The Arsenal at the start of May but Arsenal moved the goal posts….according to his agent he’ll NEVER sign for Arsenal!!!!
Please say this is bollocks, surely we can’t fuck another transfer up….got Mata written all over it!! If it’s true it’s a copycat start to last season……..

  241. devilgunner says:

Morning Fine Folk of the St Totteringham worship.

Another fine day with smiles shining on our faces. Yes we might not have won any pot or tin, but at least we can brag that we are much bigger than the tiny totts.

Lee, JV is a good player. I like hiim and rate him a lot. However for AFC to move the goalposts, there must be something underneath which we will never know. Do you remember when we signed TommyV or Per??? We got them since we wanted them. Podolski we got also in the blink of an eye. However now the club has dragged its feet. Who knows why.

My dad used to tell me that back in the seventies there was a famous player who used to play for a blue shirted team, and this player was a nailed on cert to sign for us, he asked for underhand payments and AFC pulled out. Later on he went to win the Champions Cup with one of the best English manager who never managed England. No names are being mentioned but hopefully you get the drift of who he is.

There are plenty of other good defenders around mate.

  242. DutchGooner10 says:

Lee sometimes I have this notion our transfer trading is based on casino principles. They replace chips when ‘ Rien ne va plus, no more bets please’ been called.

Real shame. But it feels much like an American style of negotiations.

  243. Lee says:

I hear you coach but my major concern is our man IG’s ineptitude at contract negotiations, he’s got to sit down and broker RVP’s contract…..fucking scary!

  244. devilgunner says:

    Morning DG10 and Lee

Yes Lee I understand. However he did not have any qualms and troubles when doing TommyV’s contract. OR Arteta’s. Or Mert’s. My presumption is that IG+AW+SK know who they want and who they do not. That is called pyschology of business. If AFC want to hold on to RVP they will keep him. No matter what. But if they have a sniff of a hefty sum………..say anything above 25 million they will surely drag their feet to sell. The same with Mata and Verts and any other player.

  245. Lee says:

    Morning Dutch!!
According to the low life media here RVP & Hazard to citeh’s wish list…..they are to offer 325m for RVP and £220,000 p.w nett!!!

  246. devilgunner says:

Lee…………..325million??? DID YOU SAY 325 MILLION. Man….I will give them Squilly and JD as presents so that they can give guided tours of the Etihad and still pay their wages. 😆

  247. DutchGooner10 says:

At least Lee/Devil we know by the end of the week rather than it being dragged throughout the summer. Saves a lot of typing and repeating statements.

  248. Lee says:

I’d carry him to the ethiad myself for that amount….
I also hate the fact (if true) that those oxygen thieves have stolen the lead on JV…. brrrrr!!

  249. devilgunner says:

Holy Cow…….if they offered that amount I still think they would scrimp and save and not invest it!!!!

  250. DutchGooner10 says:

For that amount we can buy the tinny totts and turn their ground into a real estate project. Or we could go mining for gas in the swamp.

  251. Scott From Oz says:

    Evening all.
I have just got my first IPad,so no more spelling mistakes can be blamed on anything but my own inabilities lol.

  252. devilgunner says:

Dinner’s mate not dinners. So that is your own mistake Ozzy!!!

Good morning mate. Or should I say Good evening??

  253. devilgunner says:

Do you know that according to Deloitte and Touche AFC are worth over 1000 million while the tiny totts are worth 420 million????
