Good morning.
Having been holed up in one room for much of yesterday, I had a read around on other websites and it’s comments. Then general gripe seems to be the remaining fixtures and how the home v away games are unbalanced. Toots have an advantage appears to be a strong view as four of their remaining six are at home. Utd have two tricky fixtures against Barcelona in the Champions League but in the Premier League, four at home with two away. Chelsea are pretty much even in home and away matches with two Europa fixtures in there yet for Arsenal, along with two difficult games against Napoli to overcome, just two of our last seven are at The Emirates.
It’s a fix say ‘some,’ a conspiracy say others but in all honesty, it’s probably just the way it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Our trip to Wolves would have taken place already were they not doing so well in the FA Cup and who’d have predicted that? Certainly not the FA. I doubt anyone expected to get this far in Europa either, not the first season under a new manager. Also, I think playing a few home games on the trot has helped us. We’ve been winning, gathering a bit of confidence along the way and in amongst this decent run, we’ve beaten Utd and drawn against Toots. By playing well I hasten to add. Perhaps if we’d played more away games our momentum might have been broken. In any case, the games have to be played regardless of when during a season.
Aaron Ramsey won the goal of the month award. No surprise really as not only was the goal very good but it was against them. The bitter sweet is that his goal should have won the game and had VAR been in action it would have. Same with the penalty Aubameyang had saved, VAR would have given him a second chance. He might have scored, we might have won. Two points make a difference. Bernd Leno scooped the player of the month award, no raised eyebrows there either. From looking a little shaky to begin with, he’s just got better and better. In the same match at Wembley last month he made an outstanding double save. Superb.
Theres an interview with AMN on the Arsenal Player. It’s good. He loves a NLD. Talking about theToots, how sad it is to hear Danny Rose say he can’t wait to finish playing football because of the racist abuse he suffers. If he feels that way, many other black footballers must do too. It’s wrong, it’s illegal and something has to be done about it. What and how is a huge question which footballing authorities need to find the answer to and fast. Severe retrospective punishment is all well and good, right too but the players have already suffered the abuse. It’s like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. But I guess the idea is to set a precedent, a deterrent, in hope others don’t want to endure a similar penalty. In my opinion, in not working. If it was, Danny Rose and others in the England team and throughout the game wouldn’t be on the end of such horrid stuff during a match. I don’t understand why the colour of a persons skin makes a difference. We’re all human beings for goodness sake and it’s 2019!!
TGIF, and my floors are dry.
Morning Rico. Personally, I hope Danny Rose does retire. Not because of the racism though I agree that is horrible, but because of his complete and utter disrespect he shows his opponents by cheating every game with his nasty fouls and grotesque simulation while trying to get them carded.
Morning Adam, not just Rose though, there’s a few like him who are ghastly players.
I agree Rico. Rose’s tactic is to knock the ball past his opponent and then literally throw himself off the ground straight at them before screaming in agony and rolling around grimacing. He did it after about 2 minutes of the NLD but the ref didn’t buy it. He should have got the first of 3 yellow cards he deserved that day.
I remember it well Adam.
I thought you might Rico. 😃
😂 Adam.
You confident ahead of Sunday?
If we play well, we will win I reckon.
Ditto. A similar performance to the one we saw a Wembley should give us a chance.
I am sorry to say that it’s not really a football problem. It shows itself in a crowd because of the volume made. It’s a social problem and in many Eastern European countries it’s worse .
The subject is very complex because it’s not just white on black but manifests itself in many ways in many places.Asia with the caste system and all the factions in the Muslim Middle East are at war on another form of intolerance based on differences.
It won’t be stamped out until there is cultural change . It stands out in a stadium but even so the authorities as usual have all their priorities wrong ,they fine an association £ 65k for racial abuse and then £ 85k for nick Bendtner having paddy power on his underpants waistband.
Relax gunners, its only Everton and last time we won 5-2 at their backyard. 3-1 to the Arsenal!!!!!
Totally agree Potter.
Godonga, what brings you back after three years? Were you not once Boyd?
Evening all and great post Rico.
Agree with Potter, but at least with the high exposure of football it gets more on the news than say someone abusing a person on the street.
Sorry for my ignorance as I cant remember what country, but in the news this week we have a country threatening death to gay people !…………unfcuking believable, why cant we all just get on ?……………………………………………..well, apart from Tootnumb as I fcuking hate them !
Thanks Lc. Yes, dreadful re the laws in Brunei. I’m sure the four witnesses required for the ruling to to get to court would soon be found from somewhere… disgraceful.
Yes Rico, Brunei !………………….just looked it up and no pun intended, but they are still in the stone ages as they stone any gay men caught in the act !.
I cant think of what should happen to these ignorant and so called intelligent people of little compassion, they should be punished by the United Nations or whoever has any power……………….shocking, disgracefull and outrageous behavior to fellow humans !……………………..who knows what other draconian laws they have to oppress human life !
New post up now
