A Diamond Gooner! Usmanov ready to sail in & Gazidis plotting his spin ahead of next week?

Morning all

The richest businessman according to Forbes, has treated himself to a new yacht which he will be naming after his Mother Dilbar.

Of course I am referring to Alisher Usmanov, our second major shareholder and this spanking new toy has set him back a mere $100 Million. The little boat includes a swimming pool, helicopter landing site, gym, a dining area and posh cabins for 20 guests.

No doubt like me when I read this story, you are wondering just how many quality players we could sign for that amount. Gotze and M’Vila? Giroud, M’Vila and Afellay? We can only dream…….

Usmanov is reported to be worth $18.1 billion, me, I’d be happy to have the $.1 πŸ˜‰

Talking about Alisher Usmanov, his name will crop up next week when Ivan Gazidis will face 300 supporters consisting of the Arsenal Supporters Trust (AST) and other supporters groups at the Emirates Stadium.

Gazidis has been forwarned of the questions he will be asked and according to reports, the AST want to know what the future of the club holds. Questions are also expected to be asked about our current wage policy and whether we as a club should be ignoring it to ensure we keep Robin van Persie.

At the same time, maybe they should be asking why we pay such a high wage to very average players??

The current Transfer Window and whether or not we will be signing players will also be on the Agenda, as will the big question about why Usmanov is not welcome on the current board.

No doubt Gazidis will have all his answered well prepared and will feed the fans more cock and bull!

Onto tonights match between England and Belgium which should be a really good game.

The Theo Walcott England debacle under Sven isn’t going to repeat itself with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roy Hodgson all but said he’s not there to just make up the numbers and he even hinted he could start tonight against what will be a very strong Belgium side. With Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard both having being ruled out recently, young Alex must be rubbing his hands together.

Surely Jordon Henderson won’t be enough to keep him out?

Oh, Mancini has said he’s ready to make a Β£25 Million offer for our captain should he not sign a new contract, but he can take a hike. RvP will be with us next season whatever happens because Arsene said so……..

Have a good day all, the first of a four-day holiday here in the UK as we celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee.

Congratulations Ma’am πŸ™‚

Congratulations Ma’am…..

She’s a Gooner you know……

So thats what you look like Rico….I’ve been wondering all this time!!
    Queen indeed πŸ™‚

  2. Scott From Oz says:

On Usmanov, well,if he were to become major shareholder,I cold handle it only if he promised NOT to be an Abramovich….buying players, demanding they’re played and sacking a manger each season….and not to piss hundreds of millions away each season.
I’d rather he spend some to kick us off, fund an Arsenal B side…as per Barcelona….put more into the youth academy, and give us the best scouting system n the world, because they’re dropping the ball over the last few years.
    Morning all.
My kids were woeful in the first half today, though led 2-0.
Something clicked in the second, and a 10-0 win was the result.
Sean the lad scored a goal that had the opposition parents asking about him…a Rosicky turn to beat one,and an Ox dribble to beat two and three, followed by a right footed rocket……awesome.
    Hasn’t RVP signed yet lol??

  3. rico says:

Unless he takes total control Scott, he won’t have the chance but if he gets onto the board and they all get on nicely, maybe Stan would accept some help with a bit of his money πŸ˜‰

  4. Scott From Oz says:

Rico,we have the Queens birthday long weekend next week. I’m not entirely sure how the day was chosen.
Honestly,it’s not a huge deal here.
Plenty would rather us become a republic, but personally,if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,and we’ve been part of the commonwealth for a long, long time.

  5. Scott From Oz says:

Rico,Stan and Usmanov may just balance each other out nicely, come to thing of it.
As long as egos do not be in he way,and decisions are truly made in the best interests of Arsenal, then it may well be a good thing.

  6. Doublegooner says:

God save the our gracious Queen
    She loves The Arsenal Team
    God save the Queen…
    dddddddddd
She doesnt love west ham, chelsea or tottingham
    She only loves The Arsenal
    God save our Queen..

  7. nasridiot says:

I believe Gazidis DO NOT want Usmanov but prefers to work with Kroenke. ..comrades in arms.

  8. rico says:

Oh well, at least you’ll get a holiday next weekend Scott πŸ™‚

I reckon similar with AU and Stan – but, just can’t ever see them working together

  9. Scott From Oz says:

    Guys,google ft.com robin van persie
Brilliant, brilliant article on him,and gives real insight into why he’s hasn’t extended his contract…….yet.

  10. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning your highness Rico
Pitty Usmanov never brought the boat a while ago he could have lent it to the Queen to sail down the Thames and saved the tax payer a packet.Always hated meetings when everybody is pre warned of the questions, if they are frightened of the questions they shouldn;t have the meetings may as well send a letter in and wait for the answer. I went to a meeting once that you had to send in your question first but i hadn’t and i butted in and asked a bit of a touchy touchy question only to find myself outside, so not got a great deal of faith in them now usually they run out of time when the good questions start coming up.

  11. rico says:

Morning Steve, you are in a good mood then πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

Re the questions to IG, spot on, its a farce…

  12. stevepalmer1 says:

Vertonghen can see champions league football next year if spuds don’t lose all their players, i have to say that the spuds played some great football this year hurts me to say it but they did, i have my own reasons why spuds blew out this year but thats for another time, he wants regular playing time and i think i would go there as well had i been him

  13. Scott From Oz says:

A meeting like that is no meeting at all….its pointless.
Vertonghen, well, plenty are saying he’s taking the easy option by going to Spuds.
Maybe he’s going to a club he’s always liked…as he’s said…and wants to help improve them.
Don’t we want players coming to Arsenal with exactly that attitude?
Some of his comments haven’t been ideal, granted.

  14. Scott From Oz says:

Spuds, like us,don’t have great depth to their squad,I believe.
A very, very good top 15 or so,but little quality after that.

  15. RON says:

morning everyone…gazidis going to complete 3yrs at arsenal..interesting to knw wht he has done in this yrs ,,,except giving diaby n johan new contracts..nthng worthy of a mention i guess till nw…n if johan is at d club for 2 yrs..he will be getting a testimonial shocking

  16. rico says:

Dexter, you take your childish comments and shove them where the sun doesn’t shine, which is obviously where your head is too….

  17. stevepalmer1 says:

If they do rico, it will be Vertonghens loss and spuds as well. Modric and Bale whether we like to say it or not are match winners, This is the best Spuds side i have seen for many years, I believe they could have won the Premier this year and i don’t think anybody would have been able to stop them. I almost watched as many of their matches as i did ours and they have played some of the best football in our league in my opinion of course.

  18. rico says:

Morning Ron, from the outside it appears that IG does very little, other than talk poppycock – but, AW would have sanctioned those two deals, thats more worrying….

Modric has been pretty quiet this season hasn’t he Steve compared to the season before… They did without doubt play some wonderful football although it pains me to say that and getting Lardy when they did, boosted them…

    One season wonder though maybe?

  19. Lewis says:

Morning all. Sure to be another slow day in the world of arsenal! Thanks for the link to that article Scott, a very good read. RVP is truly a top man, would be very surprised and definitely very upset if he did chose to go to shitty!

  20. stevepalmer1 says:

I certainly hope so Rico, I think there may be a bit of termoil in the club and its my belief this should have been their year, but hopefully the termoil will well and truely bugger them. πŸ™‚

  21. Scott From Oz says:

Steve,I reckon you’re overrating the Spuds…….our best was as good as theirs.
The trouble is,neither club showed it often enough.
It’s not how good your best is,it’s how bad your worst is….both clubs failed in that dept.
Look at UTD…..not a great side this season, but a consistent one.
Bale is a bloody hog,and Modric really went missing late in the season when needed.
Players are like clubs……how bad is their worst, because there’s often not much difference in their absolute best.
    Messi and Ronaldo stand out.
Who is at the next level??
There are probably 50 or 100 players at a similar level ability wise, but 3rd,4th,5th best etc, etc, etc are filled by the most consistent players, those who perform weekly IMO.
Theo’s goal against Chelski was a dribbling master class of alance and skill……..that’s him at his absolute best, and how many players in the world could’ve scored that goal??
    Very,very few,I’d say.
Imagine THAT player on a weekly basis….he’d be frightening.
I’m not picking Theo out on purpose there, but that goal is a great example of my point here.

  22. stevepalmer1 says:

Many are saying that Hazard and m’vila are great playmakers i would take Modric out of all of them, he holds the ball really well his distribution is good he see’s a lot that others don’t and he’s a grafter forward or back he works his socks off, i think he is a trific player as Arry would say

  23. Lewis says:

Morning all. Another slow day in the world of arsenal no doubt. Thanks for the link to that article Scott, very good read! RVP comes across like a top man, would be very surprised if he joined shitty and very upset.

  24. Scott From Oz says:

Guys,we’ve got to stop focusing on the bad signings made 2 or 3 years ago.
We know Wenger wants several players gone,so it’s obvious he’s admitting error.
His signings last year have been successful bar one,and I can’t really remember his name:).
So far, yes…on paper…we have one very good signing.
Wenger has next season to show he’s learnt the error in his ways, and to get things right.
Personally, short of some hugely successful signings,I would be surprised if we won the League next season, and really, the cups are a lottery so they don’t worry me too much.
Lets just see a big improvement next season, and I’m convinced it will happen, then really turn the screws the following season.

  25. rico says:

Morrning Lewis, not sure what happened but you went into moderation πŸ™

What article, did i miss it on the old post?

  26. rico says:

Scott – that is exactly why i stand by Theo, he has it, he just doesn’t do it often enough but he will…..

  27. Scott From Oz says:

Lewis,it really it home to me that RVP wants to give the club every chance to sign the right players.
He also misses Cesc…..don’t we all?
What odds Cesc back with us in 2013/14???
Look at the big picture…..it’s certainly not impossible.

  28. Scott From Oz says:

RICO,I may rev you up over Theo, but I’d love to see us go two up front, with him rotating with RVP and Podolski( and whoever else comes In),because I go back to the second half of the Spuds game when he played basically as a Right side Striker, and smashed them….best I’ve ever seen him play.
Common guys with more technical knowledge than I……how would we line up as 4-4-2???

  29. Lewis says:

No worries rico, I was putting my old email address in. Silly me.
Earlier post by Scott, financial times about RVP.

  30. goonster says:

I don’t know why but everytime I hear that bald headed idiot’s name I get a little bit angry. Am I alone in this? God I hate gazidis!

  31. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning Scott and Micko, yeh it did pain me to say that, but in all honesty i am a football man, i realise many do not want to see other clubs especially the spuds, but i do like to watch good football and i can see good in most clubs, we are trying to buy foreigners from diferent leagues in the world, and i have to say i dont watch much foreign football unless a british team is involved, i must admit i don’t get enthused like many supporters in players like M’vila and Hazard, solely because i hav’nt seen them play, having said that i listen to you guys who have seen them and know their play well and i know you know your stuff so i just hope you are right, personally i would only buy what i have seen so obviously Squillaki Mertsacker would never had been signed had it been my choice.

  32. Micko says:

Rico, wordpress went into a big strop on Thursday and gave me a load of grief.
Scott, we have first refusal on Cesc, it was part of the barca deal but I can’t ever see that happening.
At least we can cross Vertonghen off our list, no more will he, won’t he, he’s made it crystal clear where he wants to go.

  33. goonster says:

On vertoghen, I must admit I didn’t see that one coming. Was so sure we were going to get him. Oh well good luck playing on thursday pea brain.

  34. rico says:

    Thanks Lewis

Morning goonster – you are not alone, i can assure you πŸ˜‰

Micko – WP is frustrating but no matter how many times i email them, they say its fine, they have asked that people having probs email them direct, but why should we… πŸ˜‰

  35. goonster says:

Hi ya stevep, micko were you that creep yesterday? The “can’t be arsed” fuck head? Smells like ya too.

  36. Scott From Oz says:

Steve, our scouting dept needs a kick up the backside,IMO.
We should be ale to have confidence in anyone coming to the club.
Micko,if Barca start feeling the effects of their economy and FFP,then it’s a possibility.
I’m not suggesting I have any info on it,but just wondering out aloud.

  37. goonster says:

What’s this about the “russian messi”? Please arsene no more messis. Especially russian. Sheesh, you ll think he’s learnt his lessons with ashavin.

  38. Scott From Oz says:

RICO,remember the letter you got from Vertonghens college roommates sisters boyfriends milkman…he told us we were never even in for Vertonghen.
Ask him when RVP is signing…….he’s given us the only correct rumour so far lol.

  39. rico says:

What happens if the swampies don’t secure a deal for JV and he opts for us in the end

    Booooooooo πŸ˜›

  40. Scott From Oz says:

Goonster, they reckon Arshavin was fantastic yesterday…chased his tubby little arse off.
Some players really play differently when in a rep shirt.
Others are only ever great club players.

  41. goonster says:

Morning mama bear, I so wanna smash his head in. He’s a bald head just like lee. Speaking of which where is that irish pimp?

  42. rico says:

I too think he is right Scott – which possibly explains why JV wants the swampies, strange though, he’d be better with us…

  43. goonster says:

Hi scott, how’s the little man? Sean jackson that is! Micko, I ll have you know I didn’t attend any. Am a drop out just ask devil. He was in me class.

  44. goonster says:

I said this once I ll say it again…if we end up signing kalou am going to have a fit! Kalou to arsenal is not dying Β₯φυ guys. Am kinda worried. God help us. The sight of kalou in red and white makes me skin crawl. Don’t do it arsene!

  45. rico says:

πŸ™‚ Scott, the swampies will get him in the end….

Micko πŸ˜† re the charm school, stanley does have a way with words….

  46. goonster says:

Hey,whatever happened to wath? Hmmmm, probably went extinct! Poor fella he sure was dying slowly. Rico, are you game? Let’s go dig up some fossils.

  47. Scott From Oz says:

Any takers for my 4-4-2 guys??
Sean’s actually just puked all over himself….sick little man,he is.
Read my 9.38 Goonster…save me typing it again….
It looks even better now he’s crook.
Certainly a tough little bugger….must come from his mum!!!

  48. Scott From Oz says:

Guys.in hours and minutes…how long til kick off today??
I’m trying to see if I can watch it.
I’ve got a dae in a few hours with the mighty Aussie playing Denmark…..looking forward to seeing Bendtner go around.
Actually…Eriksen is the one I can’t wait to see.
He’s one of the very, very few top class young guys coming through that we aren’t linked to on a daily basis, leading me to relieve Wenger will announce him as a Gunner after the game πŸ™‚

  49. rico says:

    stanley, take a chill pill…

wath was here the other day, he’s really busy at work but he’ll be back soon….

hope sean gets better soon Scott…. I already said a big yes to 442, not in all games but some….

  50. goonster says:

Thank God. Now let’s reward yossi for a job well done. Twice he’s helped us finish above the swampies. First with west ham and now in the glorious red and white. Coygs!!! Yeeeeaaaah!

  51. rico says:

I’m not fussed how AW lines up at the start of a game, my bug bearer is he doesn’t change tactics when a 433 isn’t ticking. Within ten/fifteen mins of a game he should be able to see how things are going and if it’s not right, change it.

    It’s not difficult is it?

  52. Erick says:

    Hi guys,

Hope you are all good….going by the post seems their is not alot to talk about. The Media turning the fans against Robin….am getting pop corn watching how it pans out.

  53. Erick says:

Am fine thank you Rico…have been busy saving the world. How are you?

Podoski and that it eh πŸ™‚

  54. Marinello says:

Ron 10.30: I cannot believe any Prem League Club gives a testimonial any more. Testimonials were created as a reward for loyal players and helped set them up financially after they retired. Maybe now the players give any money from a testimonial to a chosen charity.
Hi Rico, Steve P, Micko, Scott from Oz and all you lovely Gooners. Enjoy the 4 day break. Hope the Ox gets a game tonight.

  55. Scott From Oz says:

Rico, you sould know by now,I never sleep!!
I agree Wenger is not very flexible in his ways, and I reckon it’s his biggest failing as a manager.
Imagine this….Wenger as head scout and academy coach with Pep as first team manager!!!

  56. rico says:

Pretty good thanks Erick – I’m sure we will see at least two more other than the Pod…. πŸ™‚

  57. Erick says:

Am good goonster……its been busy like hell, hope you are good mate.

The Euros around the corner to keep us busy………lets see if we can sign someone before the seasons starts.

Hear rumour that Aw will make a move a decision depending on the OXO performance.

    Bad move

  58. rico says:

Hi Marinello, you have a fab weekend too and yes, looking forward to the game later – Ox and Theo to start would be good and no injuries to them or Thomas….

  59. alanbstardmp says:

    H M looks lovely in the Gunner’s shirt πŸ˜€

Oh here we go, the AST. LOL They are not on the general supporter’s side

  60. Erick says:

Rico can get it any worse…..RVP thinks we should get rid of AA, Ramsey and Chamaka

    Well said I think

  61. rico says:

I thought so too alan, couldn’t resist it πŸ˜‰

Did you see that article yesterday that vernat posted, the results of their voting was quite bizzare…

  62. rico says:

I agree with AA and Chamakh, not sure on ramsey, maybe another season for him….

When did RvP say all that Erick?

  63. rico says:

Guys, i’m off for a couple of hours, local fete and a Mr Whippy calls, i sure know how to live eh πŸ˜‰

    Laters….

  64. goonster says:

Am bored out of my skin erick and its not even june yet! Grrrr. Not a huge fan of international footie. Can’t stand it. Guess I ll take up ballet!

  65. goonster says:

Don’t think so erick. We have mvilla in the bag just waiting to tie up some other deal so we can announce both. Trust me we won’t be able to afford them after the euros. Wenger knows this, he’s not dumb!

  66. Erick says:

Have a good one Rico, Will try and get that link and post it in here….Goonster Mvila is he good enough.

    Scott Giroud πŸ™‚

I thought so too alan, couldn’t resist it πŸ˜‰

Did you see that article yesterday that vernat posted, the results of their voting was quite bizzare…

No I didn’t see the voting. I’ll look it up

  68. Scott From Oz says:

Fair enough Erick…I’ve seen neither play.
They’re the two French strikers being mentioned as “targets” atm.

  69. goonster says:

Mvilla is a beast erick but I ll rather etienne capoue. He’s a monster and has a nasty edge about him. Its about time we have a big bastard in the middle again. We missed that. Teams don’t fear us any longer but with capoue, they ll be thinking twice about bullying us. Capoue for me even though he’s cheaper. There I said it. Call me a cheapskate!

  70. goonster says:

Scott neither would rather have dempsey if robin is staying but if he’s to leave then for fuck sake sign up giroud. The guy is class!

  71. Devilgunner says:

    Good afternoon Fine Folk.

Now why did you delete Dexter Ma’am. You should have left him to me and Scott. We would have done a few sparring punches with him and then we would have left you to take the final uppercut to knock him down. You know we would have enjoyed it.

Scott mate, we do not have the midfield personnell to go 4-4-2. Rather 4-4-1-1 but not enough to go 4-4-2. If we had M’Vila we could put Coquelin in the centre with Arteta/Santos on the left and Ramsey/Gervinho on the right with Podolski/RVP/Theo rotating the front two. However Lansbury would be more siuted to the right of 4-4-2 since Gervinho would play more up than helping at the back.

Erick, I have yet to see the article you spoke about but Ramsey we should not get rid of. He is still young and has time to develop unlike Chamack and AA.

  72. Erick says:

    Goonster,

We have Arteta and Song we lack creativity at the center and Ramsey not in it

Gotze…… I think but we can’t afford him

  73. goonster says:

Would rather we signed a creative mid fielder. We really struggled last season when teams packed their “trucks” in front of their defences. Admit it scott, we did miss fabregas!

  74. devilgunner says:

Goooooooonnniiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Long time no see mate.

Now why shouldn’t we take M’Vila???? We should take Capoue and M’Vila. Both of them defending the defence and we should be solid.

You a cheapstake???? Nahhh mate.,.,……more like Scroogestake in your case. πŸ˜†

  75. Erick says:

Devil gunner, look it up the link is up mate…hope you are good mate

Goonster exactly was I feel…..but we also need good cover for injuries

  76. Scott From Oz says:

    Two for Giroud then.
On my 2 up front….hows this look, and admitting I’m an amateur at this….hey,I coach U/6’s lol!!!
    Szczesney,

    Sagna……….Koscielny………..Vermaelen……….Gibbs/Santos

    M’Villa/Capoue

    Arteta………………Wilshire

    Song/Kagawa
    Any two of Giroud,RVP,Theo,Podolskior Gervinho.

Pick it to pieces guys,I will not be offended.

  77. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning Devil.
Goonsyer,I’ve never knocked Cesc,I believe he was truly homesick, gave us plenty of good years and we hardly lost on the deal.
    Yes,we definitely missed him.

  78. Scott From Oz says:

RVP didn’t suggest we should sell Ramsey, the author said Wenger was over protective of him.

  79. goonster says:

Never said you did my man just stating the obvious. Most gooners won’t admit it but we did miss him…but not nasri! Never him. So glad he’s gone. I ll never forgive him for that carling cup final against birmingham. What a turd.

  80. devilgunner says:

Scott….believe me if you think you coach the Under 6 is a lot easier than the seniors than think again. If a coach takes the under 6 seriously than life will be more difficult than coaching the seniors and tactics.

Regarding your formation you go for a diamond shape in midfield. IMO this might work against you in the EPL, especially against teams who flood the midfield. So a flat four in the middle needs to be the order of the day. 4-4-2 with a diamond can work in France, Swiss lge, Poland and Germany. But not in the EPL.

Oui Goonie mate. But since the football season is over now here I promised to take the little prince and missus to a fun park today and we spent a whole morning there enjoying ourselves like 3 little children. I enjoyed the bouncy balls mate. But was forbidden to go on the bouncing castles due to my age. I tried to convince the owner that I am still a boy since my old Dad still calls me Son but he would not have it any way. However while I was busy taking his attention away the missus managed to sneak in behind his back and it was only twenty minutes later that he noticed. However by that time both of them were getting tired of it and we left with grinning faces. πŸ˜†

  81. goonster says:

Still believed we could have done a lot better with ljw in the side last season. Maybe a cup and a top two finish. That’s why am really looking forward to seeing him play next season. Him, arteta, coqpong, rosicky, mvilla and a new creative mid fielder and we could win the title.

  82. Scott From Oz says:

You know how serious I am Devil.
Little fella scored an absolute cracker today…..sick as a dog tonight though, poor little bugger.

  83. devilgunner says:

Charlie, aka AK is at work. he is building up muscels turning the stearing wheel. πŸ˜‰

Sorry Scott mate, but I do not think we miss Cesc. Had he been converted into a 2nd striker then yes but a midfield revolving around Cesc needed a whole team to work for him. And that is a situation that I never like to see in a team.

Had I been his manager than yes, I would have played a 4-4-1-1 with Cesc as a 2nd striker. But not as part of a threesome midfield.

  84. goonster says:

And my main man diaby! Can’t believe I forgot all about him. Look out scott he’s gonna have a beast of a season. More like robin had this year. I love that guy diaby.

  85. Scott From Oz says:

Fair enough Devil,I agree no one player should be the focal point for a side.
    Goonster,hope you’re right,I really do.

  86. goonster says:

Devil you dog you. Boucy castles are for slim folks like us not big bellied creeps like ya. Do me a favour and stick to plain see saws. Hahahahaha, devil on a bouncy castle? Now that’s a glorious sight!

  87. GoonerB says:

Hi Rico. Got on a bit late today. been working so I haven’t read all the comments above but wanted to mention one thing. I agree we should keep RVP regardless but for him to re-sign we need to bring in the right players. Maybe we now need, in addition to Podolski, an experienced reserve keeper, another defender, whoever that may be, a DM enforcer and one more attacking option. I still think we can do this without breaking the bank and without going over a maximum of Β£15m for any one player. Jaaskalainen would do for me and on a free would keep our funds for other areas. If we go for a DM how about De-Jong instead of M’Villa. As an attacking option I would try and get Affelay from Barca. His progress there got halted by injuries but he is very quick and technically good and has goals in him and for me can become as good as both Overmars and Robben before him. Also I believe he is one of RVP’s best friends. If we got De-Jong and Affelay we have not only brought in the required quality in the right areas and at a good price, but have also brought in 2 close friends of RVP’s. I think the chances of getting him to sign on would have gone up ten fold.

  88. goonster says:

Dg we missed fabregas! End of! Scott you bet I am. Wenger kept him on the bench for a reason. He didn’t want him going to the euros and doing his hammy. Diaby ll be back and better next season. Watch out all. Am looking at you kev!

  89. Scott From Oz says:

On Diaby, well,he’s in a similar situation to Rosicky and RVP,so let’s hope his transformation is similar….a rise from the dead,so to speak.
It was only 20 minutes, but when he came on v Liverpool,we looked a completely different side.

  90. goonster says:

Goonerb, am dutch and would like nothing more than for us to have more dutch players in arsenal but de jong? Please! Mvilla or capoue cuts it for me. Afellay is quick and tricky but has an explosive temper. Steer clear of that one too if I were you. We need a creative mid fielder we ve got way too many wingers/strikers.

  91. goonster says:

You tell them scott. A lot of people keep knocking the poor fella as if its his fault he’s always injured. Don’t forget this is the same guy maureen wanted to nab from us to chelsea. I believe in diaby and my faith in him ll be repaid pretty soon.

  92. Scott From Oz says:

Goonster,I always reckon that you need to do everything you can to get everything you can out of players you have before looking elsewhere.
We’ve got him,he’s not worth much on the open market,so persevere.
Just imagine selling him to,say,Liverpool, and him staying fit and healthy and having a stellar season.
People would complain we should’ve kept him.
There’s no easy decision in this situation, but that 20 minutes………

  93. Scott From Oz says:

If we were to go to 2 up front, and I doubt we will,I’d seriously love to have seen Bendtner stay….leave the ego at Sunderland, though.
Goal scoring is not something you can switch on and off,and as a serial replacement,I just don’t think he ever had any momentum going.
He always looked dangerous, and always created opportunities, but was played as a winger and/or a sub.

  94. goonster says:

Am off guys. Always nice talking to you wonderful people from around the globe. Bye scott and devil leave the bouncy castles to us slim folks. Bye all.

  95. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Afternoon Gooners.
    Afternoon Rico.
That was a great post Your Majesty…
    Where’s that Stan gone.
    Mad as a March hare… πŸ˜€

  96. rico says:

    Afternoon guys and gals

No Mr Whippy, I’m gutted πŸ˜‰

    Thanks Charlie πŸ™‚

And thanks for the link Erick

  97. Charlie George aka AK says:

oNw did i read on here that Arsenal are being linked to French striker Kevin Gamiero…
Think he joined PSG last summer.
    PSG are keen on Chamuck.
    Straight swap?!
    Sorted..!
I like Gameiro, versatile forward like Wiltord…

  98. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Hiya Scott.
    I’m good mate.

Just had a meat lasagne…. Hmmm.

Sorry to hear that Sean is tom & dick…

  99. Charlie George aka AK says:

Scott, i’d run him around the quacks if your not sure.
You’ve got some nasty bugs down your way.

    Talking of bugs Rico….
Seems as if you’ve had to deal with some cockroaches yourself…..

  100. Charlie George aka AK says:

That’s the end of another tea break.
    Take it easy you Gooners.
    Lata Rico/Scott.

  101. rico says:

haha Scott – i seldom eat ice-cream, but when at the coast or if i see a Mr Whippy, i just have to give it a go πŸ™‚

    Shop bought ice-cream is yuck….

  102. Scott From Oz says:

No bugs here, the crocs ate ’em all lol.
He’s sleeping well, but we will see how he is in the morning.
Can’t be too careful with kids.

  103. Scott From Oz says:

    See ya AK.
Rico,we have a uh comes around each fortnight selling different types of ice creams and ice blocks, and they’re just beautiful.
I think my wife Bought a chest freezer a few months back just for his products!!

  104. rico says:

You are lucky Scott – if you do get to England, take my advice and give the supermarket stuff a wide birth, unless it’s in a cone, don’t bother πŸ˜‰

    Smart wife you have πŸ˜‰

  105. Devilgunner says:

    Good afternoon again Fine Folk.

Read what I said well Goonie. I chatted the bouncy castle owner up to allow the prince and the missus have some fun.

NN can make you go crazy. Sometimes I wish I was back in 1989. When the internet was not making the world a small village.

    ……………..

CSKA Moscow star Seydou Doumbia remains an Arsenal target after the striker said he wants a move to England, Italy or Spain.

The Russian club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season means he is set to leave and he has already been linked with a move to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Chelsea very keen.
The Ivory Coast international, who was top scorer in the Russian top flight with an impressive 38 goals in all competitions for CSKA last term, is holding out for a move to a club in the Champions League and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keeping tabs on him.
Doumbia is valued at around Β£25million but the Gunners could reportedly secure his services for an initial Β£15million outlay that would then rise over further years and achievements at the Emirates.
However, Arsenal could face stiff competition from across Europe with the striker admitting a move to either Italy or Spain is also appealing.
Doumbia told Corriere dello Sport: “I’m not closing the door on any team. I could be interested if the project they’re working on convinces me. I am ready for the Italian championship, but also for Spain or England. I want to make the next step in my career.
“I want to play in the Champions League. But it doesn’t make sense to join a club that plays in the Champions League one year, and then doesn’t even play in Europe the next season.

  106. rico says:

    Hi devil

β€œI want to play in the Champions League. But it doesn’t make sense to join a club that plays in the Champions League one year, and then doesn’t even play in Europe the next season.

Got to be us then πŸ˜‰

  107. Scott From Oz says:

I’m on Astrology, but the favourite will be awfully hard to beat.
Don’t forget Black Caviar in a few weeks at Ascot,Rico.
Think Messi and Ronaldo rolled into one….just an out and out freak.
Conservatively 3-4 lengths better than any horse we’ve sent over to win before.
Australia v Denmark about to kick off.

  108. rico says:

Astrology all the way Scott, right until the last stretch – what a sprint by Camelot…

Bonfire was cack, he’s trained not far from me….

  109. rico says:

England Starting XI: Hart; Johnson, Cahill, Terry, Cole; Milner, Parker, Gerrard, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Young; Welbeck

  110. Scott From Oz says:

    I am lol.
I was just thinking that after 20 minutes Eriksen hadn’t done much, then a 45 yard pass that lands an inch from its target showed he is pure class.

  111. rico says:

    Go to bed then πŸ˜‰

Not watching that footie match – keeping an eye on HRH πŸ˜‰

Eriksen is meant to be the mutts isn’t he??

  112. Scott From Oz says:

Eriksen just gave a world class back heel, and I mean world class.
Had to watch the replay to even see it.
    Yep,he will do us.

  113. Scott From Oz says:

    Eriksen reminds me of Cesc.
He moves like Cesc, isn’t overly quick but always looks to have time on the ball and definitely has great vision.
He’s made some errors, but the talents there to see.
Anyway, halftime sees me done…I’m knackered,so off to bed.
Enjoy the Belgium game us,and talk later.

  114. agirlagunner says:

Hi, Scott and bye Scott. πŸ˜‰ I am well, rico. πŸ™‚ And you??

Goonie, hyper as ever!!! Devil, sounds like you had fun!! πŸ˜€ Boo, AK!

    Eriiiiiiick!! Long time!!

  115. wambam says:

the only thing Gazidis has done is the Arsenalization of the Emirates. Nice job too. But he has let the important stuff slide a little.

I’d welcome Usmanov onto the board, he’s a canny businessman at worst, at best he’s an Arsenal fan. He wants to have an active roll in the club, and if he encouraged growth so that we remain within FFP yet have the financial muscle to compete with Man Utd, Barca, Real it can only be a good thing.

  116. stevepalmer1 says:

Eden Hazard, Jan Vertonghen good chance to see how good they are and of course The Ox we know how good he is and Virmin but come on England πŸ™‚

  117. rico says:

wambam, don’t think IG had much to do with the stadium, other than putting up ticket prices….

steve – huge game, and a chance to see just what JV is all about…

  118. stevepalmer1 says:

Only seen him a few tmes Rico and he looked pretty good, Hazard is the one i want to see and Dembele

  119. rico says:

Why oh why is Glenn Johnson deemed to be the best English right back – he is awful….

    Jenks, get training hard boy..

  120. devilgunner says:

    England are 1-0 up. Wellbeck.

I am channel hopping. Seeing three games so I cannot comment on any game due to loosing fluidity.

  121. devilgunner says:

According to Italian media, both Pato and Pastore are on sale.

Would any of you Fine Folk want them in our team??

  122. stevepalmer1 says:

Vertonghen well forward but gets back to do his job, a quick break down the right hand side would bugger him up

  123. rico says:

steve – i’m not overly impressed by him at Lb, but centrally he could be very different….

Hazard isn’t that much either and tbh, belgium are pretty pants…. πŸ˜‰

  124. stevepalmer1 says:

No i agree there Rico but our defending hampers our forward play, but we are winning

  125. devilgunner says:

HARRY REDKNAPP wants three more years to build a Champions League dynasty at Tottenham.

Boss Redknapp has held contract talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy this week, with senior players fearing he could leave.

Redknapp, 65, has only one year left on his deal but remains committed to the club despite the heartache of missing out on the Champions League even though he led the team to fourth place this season.

In spite of heart surgery in February and a gruelling court case he wants to continue his job of transforming Spurs into regular Champions League contenders.

Redknapp is 65. Three more years would take him to 68 when he may decide to call it a day, having insisted when he took over that this would be his last job in football.

Levy and Redknapp also discussed their plans for the transfer market this summer with a new defender on the radar after Ledley King was told yesterday he is free to leave the club.

While Ajax’s Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen is likely to join, Tottenham have pulled the plug on a Β£2.9million deal for Brazil defender Bruno Uvini.

The Londoners took the 20-year-old on loan from Sao Paulo in February.

A fee to turn that into a permanent stay was agreed at the time but Spurs have now decided not to take up the option.

Redknapp may also soon be after a new keeper, with QPR sniffing around Brazilian Heurelho Gomes.

The manager’s future is the priority for now though, with several key players concerned that Redknapp’s deal has whittled down to just one year and that the boss could leave unless Spurs prove he is their man for the job in the long term.

If Twitchy wants to see a Dynasty at the spuds he can buy a box set from play.com and he will see all the series from the 1980’s soap opera. Maybe Dallas will be chucked in as well.

  126. Charlie George aka AK says:

Coach, that last remark, it was terribly fluid… πŸ˜€
    Agag. Hi. Bye. Vbusy… πŸ™‚

  127. devilgunner says:

All the better Rico………..they will make his life miserable and he would Pompey them in the same manner he Pompeyed Portsmouth.

  128. Charlie George aka AK says:

Blimey, have England contracted the Arsenal disease?
    Injuries….
    They’re going down like flies.

    How has Vertonghen performed?
Any regrets about him joining the Thursday Club???

  129. devilgunner says:

Vertonghen is playing at left back. And tbh he is like Clichy was for AFC. Going up all the time and leaving holes at the back. I cannot comment that much since I am channel hopping but we need a solid defender who can defend and stay to defend first and foremost, not some ball playing centreback who forays forward every time he sees a nice looking chick in a miniskirt behind the opposition’s goal.

  130. devilgunner says:

And Hazard has set no houses on fire either. But this is a friendly game and not the real deal. Hazard has flitted in and out of this game but has at least had both of Belgium’s best efforts on goal.

  131. rico says:

Well, i thought Theo did good when he came on and what a twat rooney is, Theo played him the ball, went off down the wing and the slfish granny lover didn’t play it back….

    selfish or what!

  132. rico says:

    πŸ˜† devil, good indeed..

    Charlie

JV – nothing special but he was at lb and not central but on that performance, the swampies are welcome to him πŸ˜‰

    Hazard – nothing special either….

  133. Micko says:

JM, Holland vs Northern Ireland is a bit of a mismatch to say the least, could end up 5 or 6 nil.
Rico, Have a word with Beckham about that dodgy moustache will ya.

  134. devilgunner says:

    England won 1-0.

The dutch meanwhile are 2-0 up with RVP scoring first.

England had only one shot on goal. Belgium were better by far, but still England won.

What will happen if France and Sweden score first???

  135. devilgunner says:

Here’s the full-time stats from Wembley, courtesy of Opta.

    England 1-0 Belgium;
    Attempts on goal 11-19
    Shot on target 1-6
    Passes 375-564;
    Pass accuracy 82%-88%
    Possession 41%-59%.

  136. Joaquim Moreira says:

    rvp again…
    hello devill
ok, but it’s much more interesting and not so boring like England πŸ˜‰

  137. devilgunner says:

    Hiya JM.

I see your country is playing tonight!!!!

What do you think of Portugal’s chances in the Euro??
    Will Ronaldo cry again???? πŸ˜‰

  138. Joaquim Moreira says:

    yes, he play versus Turkey.
I’m not confident. We haven’t a team a but a few good players, but who knows? Sometimes, the things change…
4-0 Afelay and RVP a good double!

  139. rico says:

Ok, I guess so, i’m offski too, catch up tomorrow all…

Nighty night and stay safe all…

    Morning Charlie and Scott πŸ˜†

  140. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning guys.
I haven’t had nearly enough sleep, but a little boy called Sean woke me up to come and watch a game on tele……that’s kids for you,he’s feeling a million bucks this morning!!!!!

  141. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Goodnight Rico.
    Sleep well.
    Morning Scott.
Kids eh, don’t ya just luv ’em… πŸ™‚

    Goalkeepers released this summer;

    Jussi Jaaskelainen……….37
    Marcus Hahnemann……39
    Stuart Taylor……………..31
    Tomasz Kuszczak………..30
    Radek Cerny……………..38
    Craig Gordon…………….29
    Chris Kirkland……………31
    and big Arsenal fan=
    Martin Fulop…………….29.

  142. Charlie George aka AK says:

I noticed that the Scummers have released Ryan Nelsen and Louis Saha.
Those two magic Harry additions didn’t last too long.
Looks like Harry’s star is beginning to wane.
He’s already creeping around Levy, looking for a 2 year extension to the one year he has left on his contract…

  143. Charlie George aka AK says:

Harry could be living on borrowed time???
This time next year we should be hopefully enjoying the usual turmoil we witness from the Slum?!
    That’s me done.
    Night Gooners

  144. S J Little says:

If Bessie Hamberger follows Arsenal how come she does not attend Cup Finals. She goes to Lords and Racing. Even Eisenhower,Churchill,Montgomery and King Geoberger VI went to War time Cup finals I attended

  145. Scott From Oz says:

AK,like Astrology in the Derby,Spuds have made their dash for glory and pulled up short.
I’m not being a nark or attempting to be nasty, but this was their chance and they blew it.
It is all down hill from here and I honestly believe it.
How many of you think Bale,VDV and Modric will stay???
They’re all banging on ‘arrys door as we speak, transfer request in hand.
For them to be so close yet so far could mean a few very, very long and hard years coming up.
Vertonghen, who I do give credit to for going to a club he loves, even that club, doesn’t know what he’s in for.
He may have the right attitude on not being too concerned over CL football, but others already at the club won’t.

  146. Scott From Oz says:

Rico, finally……thought the members had all disappeared from the face of the earth.
Gee you us like your sleep, and don’t give me excuses about feeding the chooks!!!

  147. rico says:

I’ll have you know i’m up early Scott and last night, i was very late to be – watching a few tributes to Robin Gibb πŸ™

Eight hours a day is what my body needs πŸ™‚

  148. Scott From Oz says:

Is that 8 hours a day on top of the 8 a night πŸ™‚
Afellay cold be a distinct possibility.
