A crazy rule which needs changing……

Morning all.

Loans!

Why there is a rule which doesn’t allow any player who is out on loan to play against their club is beyond me. Surely, the sole reason a player gets loaned out in the first place is because at that stage in his career, he is not deemed either good enough or maybe mature enough to play at the level his club are at. Maybe other reasons come into play also but fundamentally, his manager knows he’s not going to play him.

Right?

That being the case, why should any club/manager fear that loaned player playing against them?

One good example is Romelu Lukaku of Everton, a club who would be down in 11th place without his goals. There is no doubting he’s a good player already and I truly believe that he’s going to get better and better as the seasons come and go but right now, he’s permitted to play against every side in the Premier League but not Chelsea of course but is that fair?

He’s already scored 8 goals in 10 appearances this season and the way Everton are playing right now, they really have a chance of finishing in the top 5/6 if not higher but him not playing against Chelsea could in theory cost Everton 6 points should they lose both matches.

On the flip side to that, Lukaku could go along nicely all season scoring goals which help Everton beat the clubs who are challenging for the Premier League title, therefore giving Chelsea an advantage.

Is that really fair?

I’m not just saying this because Everton come to The Emirates tomorrow and Lukaku offers a threat to our good run, it’s a daft rule to have in the league and it’s one that in my opinion, should be thrown out.

Mourinho has allegedly said that Lukaku isn’t good enough to compete with Torres.

Surely if a player isn’t deemed good enough to start for his club then any one manager should not truly fear him playing against his side and if he does, why loan him out in the first place?

As any season comes to a close, there is often a huge fight for clubs to either survive, win the league or grab a place in both European competitions and clubs want their players to be available to play in those crunch matches.

Imagine if this season all came down to one match where we were level on points/goals with Chelsea and they had to play Everton.

I know I’d want Lukaku to be up against them, wouldn’t you?

Arsene’s view:

The system of loaning out players has existed for a while, I’m not against it, I just think that the players should be allowed to play against the team who has loaned them out as well.

I always pleaded for that because there is no reason once you signed for a club that you should not be allowed to play against everybody. When you sign for a club it means ‘I commit for every single game I play for this club’. There should be no exception.

I remember I had that case with Francis Jeffers [a few years ago] when I loaned him out and I always said ‘yes, if I loan a player out I allow him to play against us’. Even, as in the case of Jeffers, he scored against us.

I just think it is right.

I totally agree Arsene!

There’s an interesting article HERE which shows exactly how loanee players have already affected this seasons league positions.

We’d still be exactly as we are right now though. Top!

That’s it for today…..

    Morning again Scott, and thanks..

According to The Times, AW is set to sign his new contract. Its worth £24 million …

  2. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i always held the belief he was hamstrung by those above him.
I just could not believe he was stashing away cash and selling our best players unless directed.
Either way, we are a club on the rise.
    Later…have a great day.

  3. craszygunner says:

I think you hit the nail at the head there ….its just that due to PC None of the media outlets will come out and say the real reason why Lukaku is at everton..

In the past Maureeno used to just buy players in form to prevent other rivals from buying then and just keep them on the bench….ala SWP

As soon as I heard Lukaku was being loaned to Everton and not West Brom where he was last season and had said several times he wanted to go back I smelled a rat!!!

JM had checked to see what team was strong enough to take pts off the other top 4 teams and he decided it was everton and not west Brom…so it was to him only logical that Lukaku went to Everton to help them take pts off his rivals!…

He didn’t bank on losing to Everton…nor did he bank on all his other strikers misfiring..

Football is a funny game tho…

    Morning madam.

Excellent post. I would go as far as deliberate strategy. Buy potential, park them at ‘also ran’ clubs and prohibit loaners to turn against the hands that feed them.

    Good morning GoonerdomWorshipers.

  6. DutchGooner10 says:

    For those outside readers:

‘Also ran clubs’ of course with respect!! We have been among them for many seasons. Cheers.

  7. szizzorhandz says:

Old toilet not the fortress it was once made out to be eh! Aside from the arsenal bug it beats me why we couldn’t hammer ther in our priviious game

  8. BrainwashedKev says:

Barcelona want to sell Alex Song…

I can just see him joining RIP at ManYoo…

They were made for each other…

  9. szizzorhandz says:

Its only bacause its to leave regular football at arsenal for the bench elsewhere kev, ask your man song, clichy the list goes on as we all know

  10. snaparse says:

such a poor team man u…….can’t wait to see vp’s face wen we eventually lift d title…………hi Rico and everyone

  11. BrainwashedKev says:

Szizzor, if Song was half as good as he obviously thought he was, then he would have flourished at Barcelona…
He was a very lucky boy to be at Arsenal, but his limitations have been exposed at the Camp Nou…
He was never a favourite of mine, so I was happy to see him leave and I certainly don’t want him back…
We have a fantastic midfield with some exceptional youngsters, maybe half-a-season from making an impact on the 1st team squad.
Olsson, Hayden, Zelalem, they are the players I want to see brought into the senior squad, not Song…

  12. szizzorhandz says:

Kev,imho we have enough midfielders, currently song wouldn’t even make our bench, puzzling how he still gets game time at barca. Besides we know which positions we’d rather waste time strengthening. Is anyone watching the soton shitty game? Do they currently look like they can hands down beat us?

  13. AndrewH says:

Hopefully gee us up, and take it to Everton tomorrow. Could be a great weekend, it was one where I was just hoping we could hold our ground.

  14. BrainwashedKev says:

Northern Oilers drop 2 points, lol, 😀

Southern Oilers drop 3 points, lmfao, 😆

What a bloody great day…. Ha ha ha, 😛

  15. AndrewH says:

Evening rico. Disaster though as Toon (higher team in Prem) bt Manu … just kidding. Agree Kev, not unusually this good a day when we are not even playing!

  16. AndrewH says:

Four points clear and we haven’t even played! Beat Everton and we are 10 points clear of them and SEVEN clear of anybody 😉

  17. rico says:

Evening Ah, absolute disaster eh 😉

I see the Mirror are running the RvP transfer request story. Maybe it is true and that’s why he’s not playing… ha bloody ha…

  18. szizzorhandz says:

Not much to say rico, just an unusually great day of football though we aren’t playing, hope we pull seven points clear tomorrow.

  19. szizzorhandz says:

The black cats to put the totts to the sword, has anyone noticed that sunderland have started scoring goals? Something the team of weasel is failing to do.

  20. rico says:

Big game tomorrow Sh, will see what our boys of made of. In the past, we have all too often slipped up when results have gone our way…

I’m singing the song Kev 😉

  21. MO11 says:

What a day of football the ‘big’ teams dropping points manure two home defeats in a row four league games without a win and if we win tomorrow we can afford to lose to chelski and Shity and still wont be caught, but i hope we beat them both and put some real distance between us and them imagine if win next three league games we will be 10 points clear of chelski minimum and we will be 11 clear of shity minimum and manure might aswell forget the league try fight for europa league with the spuds

  22. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, i have thought for a while that Fergie bought an aged, crocked striker to win one last trophy, and then finish on a high, knowing full well the money could have been spent better elsewhere for the future, but his ego had him doing things to suit himself, and not the club.
He is the scumbag we should all be thanking, not Moyes.
    Morning guys.
Rico, check your inbox…..you will love the pic 🙂

  23. MO11 says:

Sorry meant to say even if we lose not afford to lose of course i want us beat them and really shut everyone up and put distance between us

  24. rico says:

Sh – can you choose one name to blog under please, makes it easier for us.Your other one has gone into moderation.

Only Kev have a dozen names but that’s because he’s been brainwashed 😉

  25. BrainwashedKev says:

Chamakh, two games under Pulis, two goals and two wins…

Maybe he threatened to sell him to Stoke?

  26. stevepalmer1 says:

    evening all,
Just read your post Rico and i have to say I disagree with you.
If i had signed a contract with a club, i wouldn’t want to be responsible if i put my club out of a competition. Imagine playing in the finals of any cup game and having the responsibility of taking a penalty to win the match and then come back and try and fit in the team of your choice. I personally am against all loans if the player is not good enough for the first team then he plays in the reserves until he is. My personal feelings feels that signing players and then loaning them out is just to stop other clubs from signing them, This i feel falls better for the richer clubs that can afford to wait a couple of seasons, where poorer clubs have budgets to keep to. Buying a player like Joel Campbell that you know you cannot get a visa for is absolute nonsense we have owned this player for a couple of years and he has never had our shirt on that cannot be right.

  27. Scott from Oz says:

Steve, the alternative is to wait until he proves himself, and pay ten times as much for him, though.
You have buy young and cross the fingers.
No loans involving two clubs in the same League, i reckon.

  28. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening Scott, I feel that should a club offer a 3 or 4 year contract then they should honor that contract or sell on. A player signs in good faith believing he is joining Arsenal and never sees the ground is being decieved in my book.

  29. Scott from Oz says:

That is assuming the player is not advised he will go loan though, Steve.
We can not know whether this is disclosed or not.

  30. Scott from Oz says:

An obvious one, as well, and the referee was perfectly positioned.
    Spurs are shit.
21 shots thus far and have their lead via an own goal.

  31. rico says:

Hi Sp, I guess the players know what’s in store for them when they sign, especially those who know they haven’t got a permit.

What irks me is how many times the signings we make fail to get permits when others do so with ease. Look at Wellington, seems like he’s been with us for years but all those years have been on loan.

Also, we sign Sanogo, but Campbell was awarded his permit in the summer so why didn’t we keep him I wonder…

    Bizarre…

  32. stevepalmer1 says:

When i look back over the years and look at Arsenal greats, blokes i always thought were Arsenal through and through and seen over the last few years many of them on tv as pundits, I now wonder if any of them were great or just money grabbers, as it seems to me that they say what they say to the people who pay them now, Our last few years have been pretty dire, and they have not shown any loyalty at all, captains keepers strikers and defenders have put their two penneth in and i finally deduced that they did and what they do for the money. Loyalty today is not about the players but the supporters they stay for the duration. What a mug I’ve been.

  33. Scott from Oz says:

Campbell needs a little more time, i think.
Remember, he came from a country hardly renowned as a producer of footballers, so though very talented, still had a lot of work to do.
I reckon he will make it in time.

  34. tsgh says:

    Morning all,
Kev a RB and a choir master? Hmmm

Who has been on a 4 hour train journey with a yanited supporting brother and a Geordie Mrs after a yanited vs nufc match?

The best train journey I have made for a long time.
I conjure with kev, lets campaign for Moyes to stay…. 😛

  35. tsgh says:

    Not bad buddy….
I got free travel and 3 tickets for yanited yesterday.great atmosphere but damn, the worst type of football. Lol
I was speaking to some yanited fans and they detest fergie for looking out for no.1

    Makes me appreciate AFC more…

  36. Scott from Oz says:

Haha, Ginge, have been saying Fergie signed RVP for one past hurrah, then employed a manager who, he knew would not succeed simply because his ego would not allow it.

  37. Scott from Oz says:

    Hiya Rico.
Been fishing for the best part of the day, then the pub.
I apologise in advance if i offend 🙂
Damn i love the fact that at the age of 7, i played for a club called the Glenquarie Gunners.
If not, i would possibly be a bloody manc.
