A break, but it’s not a break. A rest then, but they’ll be no sloping off on a money earner…

Another mini break for Mesut….?

Good afternoon.

If it’s good enough for Unai Emery, it’s good enough for me. That’s what I thought anyway. It doesn’t matter whether we’ve won, lost drawn, been cheated out of a victory or whatever. The first thing he says to the guy/gal with the microphone is good morning. Or whatever greeting the time of day dictates.

I had some new wooden flooring put in a couple of weeks ago. Kitchen and utility room. Yesterday it was time for it to be oiled. Yes, I bet you’re wondering why I didn’t get the fitters to oil it. 3-6 hours drying time my Arsenal! 24 hours later and still not dry. Good job I was prepared eh although it’s tricky, especially with a woofa, the torrential rain and no use of the backdoor! I’m not after sympathy, honest….

Chelsea and Toots won last night. Shame. The pressure is back on Arsenal now to get something from the game on Sunday. A draw wouldn’t be the end of the world but we should be winning these kind of games. Everton have a few off field problems going on with their keeper so if he plays, I hope his problems interfere with his focus. Pickford can be very good on his day but he’s not tall so high and wide of him is the way to go.

The FA have decided to put a stop to overseas ‘friendly’ breaks like the one our boys have just enjoyed in the Far East. No more they say. The new breaks from the game in the winter are for R&R and not for lining the pockets of already rich owners. Poor Stan!

It’s all come together at a nice time and it’s now definite,” declared Scudamore. “We will have this split weekend and we are calling it a ‘mid-season player break’.

We’re not calling it a winter break. Why is that? Because we’re not breaking. “We’re playing five games one week and five the other. “I think that’s positive I think it’s good for English football. I have to compliment Martin Glenn, he doesn’t see anything other than a successful Premier League as being good for English football.”

I guess he means that there’ll be two free weekends, with half the PL fixtures on each. If not then I’ve no idea what he’s on about.

It’s all very well to make this decision but what about clubs who are still involved in the FA Cup and/or League Cup? Why not simply extend the league season for one week and give every club a weekend off? Better still, don’t arrange any international friendly matches. Euro and WC qualifiers yes, but friendlies seem pretty pointless to me. Mind you, I’m not an international football fan so others who are might strongly disagree.

Another option would be to abolish the League Cup? Or give clubs a choice on whether or not be part of it. If was down to me, I think I’d just look at what other European clubs are doing and adopt a similar plan.

Anyway, they’ll be a break at some stage after the festive period next season so what with that and the introduction of VAR, it’s all change.

Unlike Brexit, which just goes on and on and on..

See you in the comments guys…

I have over the last week or two, but I put that down to me
having my mind on other things.
Have you seen the Rule changes that are coming in for next season.?
The moment I saw them I thought of Torvil and Dean,
There maybe trouble ahead lets face the music and Dance

I’ve googled it – there’s quite a few. I like them, makes the game fairer I think. The wall on free kicks is an odd one though.

I wonder what the so called experts will make of the following
The ball touches a players hand/arm which has made their body unnaturally bigger.
That is going to cause some arguments .

I’m all in favour of the substitute rule that the player coming off has to leave the pitch at the nearest point on the touchline. I also think that players who sit down on the pitch and demand attention, usually while the substitute gets ready to come on, should be left where they are and the game should continue. Only the referee should be allowed to stop play.

I like that handball is being cleared up. Although I’d say the ruling is still left open to interpretation so Riley and his puppets will continue to decide results should they wish to..

Rico. It definitely still open to interpretation. It’s very difficult to jump in any fashion and not make yourself wider. Unless you want to look particularly weird and rather camp.

The punks managed to dance in that style, back in the day, pogoing all over the place!

    Afternoon all.

New rules all seem to be remarkably sensible to me. Strange that anything to do with the rules should be so acceptable!

Quite pleased to see the attackers being outlawed from defensive walls, just a shame they couldn’t abolish wall making altogether. Just think how many shots you’d see on target…….or not?

It’s been a miserable day here today. Overcast and very cool, fortunately very little wet stuff.

Evening all and thanks Rico for a post that just had me nodding in agreement as I have no idea what Scudamore and co are on about either and I have even less idea about your new flooring apart from it`s made from tree stuff ! hahaha

Surprised no one has picked up on Spuds first game at their new shite hole ( and that is true, has anyone seedn the shape from the top ?………….it actually is the shape of a toilet pan !) and the less than full stadium that had less attendance than Arsenal had against The BarCodes on Monday night!…………………I like to say unbelievable that a first game at a new stadium was 3000 down, but it`s believable because we are talking about……..sorry , taking the piss out of the Spuds ! hahaha

Concerning the League Cup, I`d keep it just because I like to see the youth getting a chance to play in it !

  9. rico says:

Needn’t worry though Adam, VAR will clear it up… lol

Wavy, I wonder what they mean by attacker though, our defenders are attackers half the time… 😜

  10. Le Coq Monster says:

Is it a new stadium though ?…………….as part of it incorporates a section of the old shite hole !…………………so technically a redevelopment ?…………………..what ever it is it is still a shit area on the fringe of
    London ! 🙂
