A battle Arsene must win for the sake of the game..

Morning all.

When a twit Paul Scholes is. Of all the things to criticise Arsenal for, or rather Freddie Ljungberg, he opted for his choice of clothing on his debut as interim head coach at Norwich. It’s winter, he’d be wearing a thick coat on the sidelines so does it really matter what’s underneath? It’s not like we were playing in a cup final. Or do you think it does matter? Would you have preferred to see Freddie suited and booted and looking the part? All I thought on the day was that the colour grey really doesn’t suit him, and the colour of his shirt was horrid but that’s just because I love bright colours. Red, pink, yellow and orange for me. I read that Scholes wore a jumper on his managerial debut so what a hypocrite.

Anyway, the last thing to worry about is what some old has been has to say about our club. He’s just another bloke whose opinion really doesn’t matter.

Another talking point which has been been made a lot of by the media is Arsene Wenger and his ‘offer’ to help Freddie in his new role.

I’m always happy to help my former players and my former club,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports News. “If he has that need then of course I will be available.

“My heart is with the club and I want them to do well. Freddie is fantastically committed. He wanted this job for a long time. He has an opportunity. Let’s get him to work with his ideas and support him.”

Arsene is in the UK in his new role as Fifa’s new chief of global football development and was merely answering a question thrown his way quicker than the man himself used to come out with ‘I didn’t see it’ straight after a game. What else would any reasonable person expect from a guy who despite having a tough time at the club over a number of years before stepping away, is a decent, caring human being who I truly believe loves the club? I’m sure there’s plenty of help Arsene could offer Freddie, even it’s how to get over a loss. I jest of course.

Another subject Arsene Wenger was questioned over was the use of VAR and like most of us, firmly supports the PL using the pitch side monitors.

“The referee needs a monitor to check if he was right or wrong. For me, that is the most important worry.” “The referees on the field are there because they have the experience and they are confident.”

Let’s not forget that it is video assistance for the referee, so they [VAR] are not the ones who should make the decision but the ones who help the referee to make the right decision.”

I can’t see Mike Riley getting his own way next season because he’s the only one blocking this move. Well, him and his flock anyway, yet if I was a referee, I’d accept any help I could get because I would want to make the right decision. Pitch side monitors give a referee the best chance of doing just that. We can all see the rational behind the decision making too and as Arsene said, VAR is in place to assist the officials, not take control.

Arsenal under Arsene Wenger were hard done by by the likes of Riley. That 50th game being the hardest to take. Riley ignored many unprofessional fouls committed by Utd that day. Ferdinand on Freddie was one, van Nistelrooy’s studs up challenge on Ashley Cole another. Then their penalty…

So it came as no surprise to me when the Frenchman got his little dig in about decisions which went against us during his time and still do today really.

Hopefully the argument over the use of pitch side monitors in the Premier League is one battle he’ll win…

Have a good one guys…

Hi Rico and all not a bad story in regards to what the coaches wear Me personally in training wear what ever they want but on match day I think the coaches should set a good ex sample and show pride in him self and the position he holds and wear a suit or a smart looking jumper and tie after all it does not look good when you look at a coach during a match in a track suit slumped in a chair, to me it looks like some bum who has walk in off the street and no one noticed and yes he can wear a coat on cold wet days but not one that looks like a track suit after all if the coach does not show pride why should the players show pride in the jumper

As far as I’m concerned if Freddie can give us a non-porous defence he can turn up in Morning Dress complete with a Top Hat, Bermuda shorts or a pink tutu.

I thought Freddie looked quite smart, anyway Scholes is an Arsenal hating idiot, another failed manager(Chris Sutton is another) who’s credibility is shot.
Arsene is right about VAR,he talks so well about most things. The Man is forever an Arsenal legend,it’s a shame things got so toxic towards the end.
I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow.

Scholes is in greater need of a brain transplant than publicity, I did see a dead badger at the side of a lane this morning perhaps it’s brain could be salvaged as a donor organ or just put the badger in the studio in place of the moron.
