£9M offered for Paulinho, Robin wants Juventus & Holtby in for Theo

So it seems Robin has made up his mind and he’s off this summer after the club have decided not to include him in the latest on-line Arsenal Catalogues.

Robin returned to training on Monday as expected and made it clear he wants to sit down and resolve the matter of his future, either way, as soon as possible.

No date has yet been agreed for that meeting.

Said an Arsenal spokesman…

It’s also reported that Robin will travel to Asia regardless of whether his future gets sorted out or not by this coming weekend and Juventus seem to be his favoured destination which is the best outcome for us fans, other than staying put of course. However, I strongly suspect they won’t be able to offer what certain other clubs could, if they feel our captain is worth it.

One man who is staying put is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and he’s been talking about life at the Euros.

I enjoyed every minute of it, it was amazing for me, I have come such a long way – from last season’s pre-season to going away with England in a massive tournament this year.

I learnt so much from going away to the Euros and it makes you want to strive for more.

The next tournament coming up is Brazil in 2014 but first and foremost I need to concentrate on Arsenal. But on the international stage I need to keep impressing the manager.

Looking ahead to the tour of Asia:

To get back into training, see the boys and play football again – I just can’t wait for it,

I spoke to the boss and Colin [Lewin] the physio and they said I am in on Thursday, but I asked if I could come in earlier! I just can’t wait to get started again and get cracking with the new season.

How’s that for commitment and desire to get back to work..

Titbits from Fleet Streets finest:

According to The Daily Mirror we have made a bid of £6 Million for M’Baye Niang after Brian Marwood tried to tempt the kid away on Citys pre-season trip.

Ibrahim Afellay has allegedly turned down a chance of move away from Barcelona at present as he is waiting for Wenger to come calling and Yann M’Vila is heading in for a medical!!

Lewis Holtby is another of Wengers targets and he’s in the same situation as RvP with his contract. No doubt our club will try and get him cheap because of that, but still ask for £20M plus for Robin. Not that I believe there to be any truth in the story, after all only yesterday the player said:

I like it at Schalke. I will give my best in training and the manager will decide if I am a first team player.

Talk about add 2+2 and come up with 4….. 😉

The final one relates to the Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, The Times suggest we have made a £9 Million offer for him…

On that note….

Have a good one all….

Reckon the two Mancs might just start thinking about bidding for our captain this week, surely its got to be sorted before we travel?

  2. Satan to Saint says:

No Neymar? When will Wenger show any ambition. lol. So Wenger to buy Caramello then?

Well, if he goes then all the best to him. Then for me either we give chance to Bendy to be TGSEL or we raid Newcastle and get ourselves modern day Ian Wright, i.e. Ba.

  3. Matty says:

    Hey Rico,

Just checked that Holtby on youtube he is class!! so a m’vila true? also i hope we sign that Niang we looks like another potential.

  4. Satan to Saint says:

Re Mancs at war!!! Well, it ought to be fun after all both have sold their souls to Demons..lol

  5. ramsey joel says:

I cant to see m’villa in arsenal shirt.if truely he is in for medical then we can rob shoulder with the like of bercelona

  6. Thorny says:

If RVP goes to Italy…..thats fine. I could not stand it if he went to city and followed Nasri the rodent and the others. Podolski and Giroud are plenty big and bold enough to put away those lovely dinks from song (RVP dunt play half as well without him on the pitch) and the 20 mil + from his sale could be used hansomely.
My questions are; Why is it so unrealistic that we sign Sneider?
Do we need afalay? if we do its podolski up front then.
Im still keen for Ben Arfa….anyone else?

  7. Matty says:

if we get rid of RVP i would like another established ST in replace to work along with the other two..

  8. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Ben Arfa looked good after being out Thorny.

Rico will probably tell you why Sjneider is a no-no … As much as I’d like him at the club.

  9. rico says:

S2S – If Newcastle get Carroll back, Ba could be available…

Hi Matty, Citeh are trying to steal Niang, Noltby is happy where he is and M’Vila, who knows 😉

  10. Satan to Saint says:

    @Thorny

Not much on Ben Arfa, but more on Ba. He was lethal before Cisse got in. After that he kind of disappeared. May be it was due to first full season in PL and no winter breaks.

  11. rico says:

ramsey, i think we’d all like to see m’vila in, or capoue, but, i wouldn’t hold your breath..

  12. rico says:

    Matty

Can’t see us getting another striker if RvP goes, not after Grimandi’s comments about Giroud.

Thorny – think Ben Arfa would be a hefty price, but he’s certainly very good…

As for Juve, I think that’s a little comment made to get the ball rolling for offers…

  13. Matty says:

yeh rico citeh are tryin 😉 doesnt mean they will succeed!! wengos apprently layed £6mil for the fella… i still would prefer capoune or how ever his name is spelt

  14. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    S2S – spot on.
I’d do a swap with Van Persie for him.

We ought to have signed him when we played against Ajax a few years ago.

Saying that, I thought Andy Van Der Meyd was awesome when he played against us … But he ended up bombing and bollocksed his career up…

  15. Thorny says:

    Nice one…..I guess so.
well one thing is certain. I cant see giroud or Pod flaking out as easily as others when we start throwing away a 4 goal lead. These two deffo have the nuts to shake up the team if they’re getting flakey. Its a good direction so far. I’m feeling oddly like we are in a win win situation at the mo, as long as RVP dunt move within the prem.

  16. rico says:

French & young Matty – got Wenger written all over it, and Niang will know where he’ll get a chance to play…

  17. Gooner Sam says:

Morning all, aren’t the Brazilian Olympic squad at LC for the games? Otherwise maybe we are buying Moura, Ganso and Neymar….he wakes up! I really hope contracts and situations get sorted rather than dragging as usual…Also don’t know about anyone else but do you not find ‘Henry Watch’ on the clubs website a bit desperate and weird? A love the man for what he has done for us but he plays for another club now, bet you don’t see any other clubs out there pining for a legend of old.

  18. W.A.T.H says:

Morning all, Snijder is supposed to be a bit of a shit stirrer AND a very big headed twat by all accounts…! Stay well away…!

I’d rather Cisse than Ba but am sure we’ve missed that boat…!

As usual the silly season in the media throws up a different name every day of the week, when they in an Arsenal shirt then we’ve signed them until then laugh and enjoy the gossip as that’s all it is.

  19. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Gooner Sam –
We have a “Pat Rice watch” on the dot.com site too.
He was on the bog at 7.26am and went for a paper at 8:10am

That’s how desperate we are for news….

  20. rico says:

MC – its on the rumour site, hence only in the ‘silly’ titbits…

Hi Sam – those 3 would be nice, but yes, a mere dream..

Morning Wath – i forgot that about Snijder, he’s heading to Manure isn’t he?

  21. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Sjneider and RVP have a dislike for each other … according to certain media reports that is

  22. boomergooner1727 says:

am i the only person who thinks (knows) we won’t sign anyone before the olympics? i think we’ll only see 1 more through the door before the end of the window, 2 tops.

  23. KM says:

Chelsea are building 1 amazing squad.

They’re dead certs for Oscar and Cavani.

I can see them get a RW and RB.

What an amazing collection of players. With this effort they would have gone up a level and have made a mockery of FFP

    —————

    Re. RvP

Juve is a good move for him. No competition, slower pace will suit him as he gets older. Tackles are not as rough and the Italian teams let older players stay on. Gr8 new stadium, just won the league unbeaten, imagine the amount of goals he’l score with Prilo supplying those balls?

At Man City/ManU he has too much competition

  24. Lawrence says:

why can’t we buy neymar or lucas, makes my blood boil Arsenal are much better than any other club, well we should be.

  25. Bote says:

Hello fellow Gooners, hope all is well. Isn’t this the best time of the year July and August? Especially nearer the close of the transfer window, when one stays up all night to see who Arsenal end up getting. We have been link with some class players but would be happy with Holtby and Paulinho, knowing how our club don’t spend above £20 mil

  26. rico says:

b1727 – i’m not sure anyone else will come in before the end of the TW…

They are KM, they are going to be really strong…

  27. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

The deadwood needs replacing. There’ll be quite a few additions, just not sure how good they will be.

KM – dead right re Chelsea.

    That’s what I call INTENT.

  28. KM says:

    Lawrence

We have the money, playing style which top players admire, and we’r in london and have one of the best coaches/managers ever.

However what drags it down is that we have a dictatorial wage structure and have made ourselves a 2nd tier team, because of poor investment in the 1st team.

I believe Wenger is still banking on project youth because the next batch is looking special…..but haven’t we heard that line before?

    😉

We need to follow the Bayern Munich model imo, however let’s see if it changes when our deals expire…..

  29. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Those Paulinho links are coming fast and furious
    played 88 scored 17

The Times, The Mirror, The Express, The Mail and now Myles Palmer ……

  30. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Whoa …. I never said that Rico. Don’t be cheeky.

That said, he has knocked up a swift resume (CV to the De-Da’s). It appears he has the Royal Seal of Approval.

Would it not be ironic, if Robin picked up an injury in Asia?!!!

  35. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    AB MP – I bought a Galton & Simpson’s Playhouse DVD from 1977 the other month….
Arthur Lowe in a “car along the pass” was a classic…
He was stuck in a cable car, with a few others, one of which was a German …

The German: “I didn’t agree with Hitler..”
AL: “Really? Every German I’ve met after the war has said that – If that was true he’d have only had half a dozen of you to fight.”

  36. alanbstardmp says:

lol yeah! He was a funny bugger too. A Lowe had that show ” Potter ”

here he is assisting the frog tourists

  37. Charlie George aka AK says:

Sorry, but Niang is just another Anelka/Flamini/Nasri, take your pick.
He’ll do 2 or 3 years, then piss off.
I’d rather give those opportunties to Afobe.
No more of this nursery/finishing school bollocks!

  38. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

They’ve never released it on DVD, Alan.
It had Harry H Corbett in it as the gangster and CJ out of Reggie Perrin…

  45. Charlie George aka AK says:

Afternoon SYG, i’m sound mate, thanks.
I trust you are as well?

    Hello to you too AlanMP.
Now what are you being optimistic about today,
    Arsenal maybe??? 😀

    Hiya Coach.

Can’t say that i’m overly excited by all these Brazillian rumours…
Lewis Holtby, I like, but that’s unlikely imho.

  46. devilgunner says:

    Hiya Kev.

I also like Holtby. He can play both in the AM position or on both wings. My only concern is his fitness.

    Tbh I prefer Muller.

Both are in the final year of their contract. So either one of them or both should be bought in. Should not be difficult if Bendy, Horse Jaw, Vela, Chamack, and RVP are sold. Then get a DM and Niang and we are settled.

  47. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, now your having a laugh, when does the sun ever shine in Doncaster ??

Afternoon Dev, be good AK grab those shekels while you can mate 😉

  48. vernat1066 says:

Lets buy Moses and Dempsey both know the league so less acclimatisation etc.. and play Coquelin in the DM role all pre season so he can build up an understanding there.

  49. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, Spoke to my Uncle in Devon earlier says he sold his van and bought a boat, he’s got it moored outside his backdoor..!

I’d take Moses all day long…! Still want M’Vila or Capoue and we still need a decent No2 keeper…! An older experienced keeper would be spot on…!

  50. W.A.T.H says:

    Smart arse……… 😛

Arsenal to tell vP he’s staying for the year…! I wonder how true that is….!

  51. rico says:

  52. rico says:

Is that real Wath, no way will they pass a chance to get £20M in their pockets surely….

You have good eyesight if you saw it from London 😉

  53. W.A.T.H says:

If he won’t stay in UK and only Juve are making an offer it maybe worth us making him stay getting CL footie is worth 30mil and he leaves for nothing next year with no loyalty bonus and no improved contract..?? could work..?

  54. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Sky Sports understands that both Arsenal and Liverpool have expressed an interest in Belgian star Kevin Mirallas

  55. rico says:

Also Wath, if he stays for that final year and Wenger adds M’Vila/Capoue and the keeper we need, who knows, we actually may win something…

Then, would he re-think and sign a one year rolling deal….

  56. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

I can’t say as I’ve heard of him Rico, but you never here much of Greek football unless a side is drawn against us.
TV5 will certainly know of him as has a few international caps under his belt

  57. NashuaGunners says:

    Good Morning all.

    @W.H.A.T., 3:42
Your suggestion sound like a winner ‘IF’ he decides to leave. We could hold him to his contract until Podi and Giroud beded in and even win the PL with M’Villa in the mix. But it’s a big IF, because selling RVP might have been part of the whole plan to begin with.

  58. Merlin96 says:

    Afternoon all…

Scousers offered £15M for Theo – that report has to be joking….

    Let the auction beigns.. going…..going…….

Let’s get it all over with and start anew…..

Bet you next edition of “Summer of Discontent” 2013 will revolve around Song and WIlshere……and Abu Dhabi offering £25M for WIlshere and a salary of £200,000pw.

    2008 – Hleb and Flamini
    2009 – Kolo and Adebayor
    2010 – Gallas
    2011 – Nasri and Cesc
2012 – Van Persie and Walcott
2013 – Song and WIlshere and OX and…..????

WIll it never end with Arsenal FC degenerated into a 2nd tier European club and treated with contempt as a feeder club to marquee clubs?

  59. rico says:

Neither have I SYG, that’s maybe why it could be a poss, AW likes the unheard of’s 😉

    Hi NG and Merlin…

If that is true about Theo, it shows the club don’t want to sell him, Good imho….

  60. NashuaGunners says:

@Merlin96, do you think Song is that good enough to cause “Summer of Discontent” in 2013? in your humble opinion.

  61. rico says:

    😆 Adam,

not today, been digging the potato’s, cleaning the garden swing and a general tidy up – it’s been lovely to finally get fresh air without the downpour of rain….

  62. agirlagunner says:

    Boo!! I see we’ve bought a dozen players!!! 😀

Howdy, rico? Hello, SYG. I’m not fussed about Robin. The sooner he’s sold the better.

  63. Merlin96 says:

The Dutch striker is ready to reiterate his stance that he wants to quit Arsenal before the current transfer window closes in contract discussions that will take place with manager Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

But Gunners officials have decided to gamble on losing Van Persie for nothing next year by holding him to his current deal, which expires in 11 months.

    VAN PERSIE’S ARSENAL RECORD

    GAMES PLAYED

The north Londoners have calculated that the reigning PFA Player of the Year will have less chance of being awarded a lucrative, four-year contract next summer from one of his suitors because of his age – he turns 30 in August 2013 – and chequered injury history and are even hopeful that he will then sign a new Arsenal deal.

Van Persie delivered a bombshell with the statement via his own website on July 4, which effectively said he wanted to leave because he disagreed with Wenger and the board of directors “in many aspects … on the way Arsenal should move forward”.

The Dutchman also announced that he would not extend his contract before it expires next June.

But it is understood that Van Perise’s decision to push hard for a transfer and open the way for a move to his principal admirers Manchester City has not altered Arsenal’s desire to keep him and risk losing a £20-25 million asset for nothing.

“We are going to keep him and hold him to his current contract,” a senior source told Goal.com. “When he is 30 it will be easier to re-sign him and in the last year [of his deal] we hope he will change his mind about wanting to leave.”

Arsenal’s risky strategy raises the possibility that they will have a disgruntled player on their hands who does not come close to re-producing his remarkable performances of the 2011-12 season, when he scored 37 goals and inspired the team to third in the Premier League after a disastrous start to the campaign.

But the club are confident that Van Persie, who was re-united with his Arsenal colleagues at pre-season training on Tuesday after undergoing a medical assessment on Monday upon his return from a four-week summer break, will committed to the club cause.

The club expect the Dutchman to be on the Arsenal flight to Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, for their three-match pre-season tour of Asia, which also takes in Beijing and Hong Kong. Arsenal play Man City at Beijing’s Bird’s Nest stadium on Friday of next week.

To all Football Gods above, you are haivng a larf….

Gods..time for Arsenal FC to grow two big brass balls and set a precedence as “Oh no you don’t! We prefer to lose our players on a Bosman rather than strengthen you lots of Sugar Daddy Toy-boys of a team”.

I am still holding Gazidis to his utterance a few months back that “Van Persie will not be sold at any price..”
If Van Persie is sold..then he just confirmed he is one slimball of a snake-oil salesman….

  65. Micko says:

Forget the Terminator, we got the Germinator !

Who in their right mind would offer 25 mill for Theo, I don’t believe it.

  66. vernat1066 says:

Said it before if any player does not want to be at Arsenal first then they are welcome to go, i would rather have a “lesser” alleged player who wants to be there 100% than someone who wants to leave or thinks the grass is greener somewhere else. In the last years you could not fault Arsenal for talent with Cesc, etc.. but commitment every game and every minute of the game no that you could question.

Thought last years team were better in that regard (but much work to do) if not as talented as the last teams we have had. So if RVP and Theo and anyone else does not want to be here leave now and let us get on with players who are committed to the club, it is no surprise to me that last season we got more points with players who were committed.

  67. rico says:

Hi agag, you surprise me re RvP, how are you?

😆 Micko, does that mean he still has some growing to do??

  68. rico says:

Merlin – I can’t see the club not selling him, if the right offer comes in, but if they do hold him to his contract then good for them…

Win win really, as long as we get into the top 4 next season (as Wath pointed out earlier)

  69. agirlagunner says:

You know rico, I am a big fan of Robin. But I found his website announcement in poor taste, ill-advised, and that it has put our club at a disadvantage. What a way to repay the club that stood by him. If the price is right, I hope he’s off.

I am well but quite busy. 😕 And you?

    Hello, all! 🙂

  70. rico says:

Hi vernat – i don’t think that either RvP or Theo don’t want to play for us, they (certainly Robin) want the club to show more ambition in the transfer market, and isn’t that what we all want?

@Merlin96, do you think Song is that good enough to cause “Summer of Discontent” in 2013? in your humble opinion

    _____________________________________________

Song is the most udneretsimated player in Arsenal team…like a certain “Invisible Wall” with fans slagging him as slow, can’t pass, can’t tackle…till he is sold to a Greek club….and left a alrge vacuum in MIDFIELD…

A DCM that got 11 assists can’t be that bad…..

Hey, we leaked 49 league goals – with that 8-2 score without him playing???

But even leaking 49 goals, we came 3rd……

Remember how we slagged a young Song till he was loaned out to Charlton and returned a different player.

Remember Wenger said a few years back that he saw Song’s future as a CB and not a DCM?

Remember last league match against WBA where a desperate Wenger fielded SOng as our creative playmaker with him lobbing and lobbing balls after balls to Van Persie?

Think carefully….is Song a disicpline player palying exactly to the instruciton of Wenger’s tacticla formation?

Or is SOng an ill-disciplined player always leaving the Back-4 exposed when he was under Wenger’s instruction to go forward to assist Van Persie and link-up playsw ith forward-line because Ramsey was struggling to string two passes together to forward-line?

Remember Song_Arteta and SOng-Ramsey-Arteta and Song-Rosicky-Arteta were playing togetherfor teh very first tiem without developing any understanding at all….and when they did..one of them will go for due to “long-term” injury?

SImilarly, Mertesacker-Koscielny and Mertesacker-Djourou were playing for the 1st tiem as well.

Plus, how many of the goals scored against us were due to individual error of RB, LB, CB and goalie?

Look liek SOng is a convenient scapegoat ‘cos everybody branded him as DCM.

But the way we played 4-2-3-1, there is no specialist DCM as SOng-Rosicky-Arteta or Song-Ramsey-Arteta are to attack and defence as a UNIT with understanding developing amongst them with either one or both of them acting as a “shield” or as a “vacuum cleaner” aptrolling that space between Bakc-4 and MDIIFLED and sweep out all threats.

Arsene Wenger’s 4-2-3-1 does not play with a specialist DCM, but that MIDIFELD TRIO functions as a UNIT to shield the Back-4 as well as to support Forward Line.

SOng is that kind of versatile MDIFIELDER that is neither “fish” noe “Fowl” but defensivelys trong as well as with an attacking flair…..like a Lothar Matteus driving in from deep to join int eh attack, and with flair as a creative playmaker as well.

Song can only improve with better players around him…….

    COquelin?
    Wilshere?
    Aneke?
    Yennaris?
    Jon Toral?
    EMbecilio?
    Lansbury?

Can these youngstersdeveloped into that kind of versatile midfielder that can go box-to-box but yet has a streak of steel and nastiness in them that thye funcitona s DCM as well?

I don’t rate Frimpong – just a more muscular version of Muamba.

Well Merlin. Are you the ringmaster with the whip and am I the clown?

    Niether.
We are the paying audience..or just “that one that borned every minute..” saying alleged attributed to P T Barnum.

You know..those mindless lemmings that just followed the sign in an exhibiiton hall saying: “This way to the Egress”…

Merlin – I can’t see the club not selling him, if the right offer comes in, but if they do hold him to his contract then good for them…

Win win really, as long as we get into the top 4 next season (as Wath pointed out earlier)

Rico, Rico, every July without fail, I have high expectation that we will finish Top-2; and with the rub of the green and Arsene Wenger seducing that fickle wench of a Lady Luck, we will win the 2012/13 title…..

This season, I expect Arsenal FC to explode out of the starting block and win first 6 games….

    KEEP THE FAITH!

Actually no Rico, neither of them have any coaching experience, any business experience, any knowledge of the exact situation at the club financially etc.. they have some footballing experience and very little life experience. So shut up in public sign or don’t sign but don’t drag the club in the mud trying to make yourself look good whilst angling for a transfer, we are Arsenal and will always be bigger than your petty dreams and vision which is not based on fact. So sign up or ship out but do it now and in private please

  77. Adam says:

I believe they have a treatment table at the Emirates Rico with a plaque that bears the legend The Stewart Robson Treatment Table – A True K**B Of A Man.
They left off the “Great Tactician ” bit.

  78. rico says:

Fair enough vernat, but me, I want us to show a bit more intent in the transfer window, i also want us to stop selling our better players each season…

The emphasis being on the intent, i just have this feeling that should we sell both players and coup £45 Million, not even half of that would go back into the squad….

  79. Andrew says:

I’ve been reading this blog for two months now and i just want to say its one of the best out there! its fun, light hearted, and at times also serious!

i do worry how we can compete against the likes of chelsea and man city though.
van persie pictured mainly in the new training pics sign of intent from arsenal?
wenger unfairly looks stressed from this bloody saga! U get the felling this time it hurts a little more!

kevin miralles to arsenal? i like him 🙂 but not unless arshavin bentdner vela and vp are gone 1st! still think walcott will sign!

  80. Charlie George aka AK says:

Stewart Robson = show me your coaching badges….
Stewart Robson = show me your cv.
I want to see how many clubs you’ve managed or coached at?!!!

Hiya Miss Mastercard. How ya doing… 😀
Hiya Adam, how does your wallet feel? 🙂

  81. vernat1066 says:

Better players? what have we won with them Rico? Are they the solution or part of the problem, enough of the prima donna act either sign and commit or leave we need fighters the odds are stacked against us with the money other teams can spend and the way ref’s treat us, no penalties at home in 19 games yeah that’s a level playing field and there is obviously no bias against us.

As for intent i want more players as well however signing an international player with 100 caps and the leading scorer in the French league

Isn’t a marquee somewhere that houses a circus?

    Right.
Guess who is the ringmaster holding the whip, and who is the clown?

That was a top post ….
    —————————-

Song was at fault for the 2-8 mauling as his ill discipline created in him being suspended after being sent off for something stupid v’s Newcastle.

  83. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    STEWART ROBSON …..

Robson left Arsenal in 1986 to pursue a career with his boyhood team West Ham…

George Graham reluctantly sold him for £650K or thereabouts being quoted at the time in the tabloids that he, George Graham, was “absolutely gutted”…

Robson HAS NEVER been an Arsenal man, why AFC TV ever employed him I’ll never know.

  84. agirlagunner says:

Hello, Merlin.I hope our players are off to a roaring start. I hope The Latest Wantaway has inspired those remaining to perform better.

Hello, Adam. I wholeheartedly approve!! I was just now distracted by some online shopping, myself. 🙂

  85. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Stewart Robson, Arsenal leg-end.

He was massively disliked at West Ham.
Very unpopular in the dressing room.
    Caused a lot of disruption.

He works in the media as it suits his shit-stirring, back-stabbing nature. A nasty piece of work.

    Other than that, he’s ok….. 😛

  86. rico says:

vernat – i think you are missing my point, and that isn’t meant to sound rude.

Yes, i think if we had signed 2/3 better players over the last couple of seasons, we would have won something, we cam close to winning the CC, but a then raw Ches/Kos blew that chance and we couldn’t score – why?

I’m not for one minute suggesting that we should be like Chelsea or Man City but just a few additions over the last few years would have earned us silverware, and that silverware would have stopped us becoming a selling club….

  87. agirlagunner says:

Haha, AK, howdy?? Busy? I’m suffering from sticker shock re: my last hols and my credit card statements. 😉

When Song is in the mood, he’s fantastic; but he needs to stop going all Songinho and abandoning his defensive duties.

  88. vernat1066 says:

I agree with you Rico but What right does Robin have to drag the clubs business into the public eye, or say he disagrees with the policy answer none.

If he wants to win things and if he was a fan as he said then keep your mouth shut and that will improve our chances of getting players as it is he has made it harder for us to sign people now than before.

  89. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Ask most Arsenal lads re: Niall Quinn

The most anti-Arsenal player that has ever worn the shirt.

He’ll take a pop any chance he gets, because he couldn’t cut it with the club and ended up getting shipped out, whilst the club won nearly every trophy possible.

    Hiya GirlGunner, Adam

  90. Adam says:

Kev. My wallet got off surprisingly lightly today. Mrs Adam is attracted to bright colours like a moth to a flame and a silky top was purchased but it was a sale item and as cheap as chips. I, on the other hand, was seduced by the bling and shine of a new watch but Mrs Adam gave me a stern talking to over a bowl of Singapore noodles and the urge has left me now. Or so she thinks. 🙂

  91. Micko says:

Had Stewart Robson steered clear of injury he could have gone on to be a great player for us imo, loved his enthusiam, never shirked a tackle, always got stuck in.
Nowadays he just spouts a load of verbal diarrhea.

  92. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Not far away Adam…
Born and brought up north of that area – S63, but moved out into the sticks east side of Doncaster with all Royston Vasey set..

If you’re ever up here, give us shout.

  93. rico says:

I understand why you say that vernat, but had he said nothing and we just sell him and no-one knows why, what are we left to think?

  94. Adam says:

Robson is just trying to earn a crust I suppose but I would love his job. I could insult people and get paid for it.

  95. Adam says:

Many thanks SYG. I wll certainly do that. I do have a business colleague in Sheffield but he tries to get me to eat tripe for a laugh when I am up there. Personally I exist in an offal-free zone. 🙂

  96. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

I’m shaking my head in complete dismay here … tripe, cloth caps…???
Listen Charles aka Kev old bean president of the Jon Sammels fan club …. I’ve never ever ever worn a cloth cap said “eee by gum” or bred whippets..
Another comment I’ll have Rico block you for racist comments….. LOL

  97. Adam says:

Mmm. TalkSport? Isn’t that where Adrian Durham brings his intellect to the nation? Too cerebral for me Rico. Now, The Bleacher Report is another proposition altogether.
SYG. No mate. It is that bad. Quite honestly, I have never actually eaten it but the look, colour and texture are not things that I find appetizing. I reckon Rico would like it though. 🙂

  98. Adam says:

Agag. Just checked that one out. Tripe soup. Not for me I am afraid. So if I go to the Phillipines would there be anything I could eat. Anything without a face or feathers? McDonald’s?

  99. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

I’ll get you one if you want Micko.

A ferret is a domesticated polecat (A bit like a weasel).
A lovely animal for your kids. As loveable as a dog and very clean and active. The trouble is, is that they stink and they’ll outlive a dog as they can live up to 12-13 years. So if you get one, you’re lumbered with it.

Less hassle than a wife though Micko.
It’ll lick your face and ears and will go in and out of your pockets without taking anything and all you have to do is rub its belly for ten minutes each day, clean it out once a day and chuck it a can of chappie. And it will always love you.
They don’t nag or bitch either.

With that piece of information, I’ll log off for today …. The curry house calls …

Have a great nigh everyone!! J

  100. agirlagunner says:

The outnet is on clearance sale, Mrs Adam, if you’re reading. 😀 Don’t worry, Adam, there is palatable food in the Philippines. Lengua estofado, for one.

rico, haha. 😀 I knew you’d like that.

    Micko, I know, I know. 🙁 🙁

  101. Charlie George aka AK says:

    SYG.
Gawd bless ya, me ol’china plate.
I’ll have to take ya down Hoxton Mkt and get ya some pie n’ mash, with lashings of liquer & vinegar…

    But no Hovis…. 😉

  102. Micko says:

Where I live kev, the locals trap minx, think they’re from the same family, I’d get a few funny looks wanting down the lane with a ferret, I know that much.
    Laters guys, over and out.

  104. rico says:

Thanks for the comments Andrew, glad you finally joined us…

I too think Theo will sign, at least I hope he will…

  105. Adam says:

Back after dining on a fish with no head and concealed in a crispy coat. Hiya Rico. When is the club going to actually do something? Surely they can’t plead poverty and hang onto an uncommitted van Persie to prove a point which will cost them £25 million. That would be daft in the extreme.

  106. Charlie George aka AK says:

Hey Andrew, glad you found us buddy.
Now don’t let Wath scare you…
He comes across as grumpy, but he’s really a teddy bear. 🙂
You make sure you come back mate…

    Rico, the Zil Lanes, ugh.
Most of them don’t come into operation until the 24th. £130 fine…
    Just revenue raising imho.

  107. Adam says:

Kev. I don’t think I am gonna drive in London during the games. So many people around already.

  108. Charlie George aka AK says:

Hey Adam, fish n’ chips, hmm, luv ’em…
Stan, are you out on the razzle again?

Andrew, so you think that Theo will sign eh..?
Are you trying to curry favour with Her Ladyship… 😉

  109. goonster says:

no way, that’s my job. nobody “curry flavors” her ladyship ‘cept me. so back off adam…

  110. Charlie George aka AK says:

Adam, I would really advise against bringing your car into London for the duration, or at least for the opening couple of weeks, until it’s settled down.
You can use the Zil Lanes up till the 24th in most places.
Just watch what the cabbies are doing. 😉

  111. Charlie George aka AK says:

Stan, I know nix about Paulinho.
    Or Ganso/Gonzo/Fozzie Bear,
JM is your man for Brazillians.
KT knows a lot also, but he’s tied up studying, or something.

  112. goonster says:

saw him on youtube and to be frank, he didnt get my juice floeing. we need better……hope robin is sold pronto. so we could have a settled squad for the new season.

  113. Charlie George aka AK says:

Adam, re: RVP, the club are between a rock and a hard place.

Sell him, and be accused of being weak and a feeder club.

Keep him, and be accused of being stupid and risk him walking away for nix next summer.

12 months is a long time in football.
And a lot could happen to RVP during that period.
Maybe the club are playing a risky game, in order to change the football public’s view, that Arsenal are not a big club…?

  114. goonster says:

but keeping him ll disrupt our entire season…..why keep a player who dont want to be with us and worse still, the fans dont want him too. he ll only sulk and it ll affect the whole team. flog him pronto.

  115. Scott from Oz says:

My mind changes daily on the RVP situation,it really does.
    One day…piss him off.
    The next day….keep him.
    And then….who knows.

  116. devilgunner says:

    Hiya Fine Folk.

Seems as if Almunia will not have to change house etc. He has just agreed to join Watford FC. He has managed to jump over the hedge which seperates the training grounds. The only thing he will change are the kit and his wage. Otherwise everything will remain the same.

    good Night Fine Folk

  117. Charlie George aka AK says:

Carlos Vela, has, it’s been reported, signed a 4 year contract with Real Sociedad for between £5 & £8 million.

That’s the first ‘surplus to requirements’ out of the door.
Arshavin, Squillaci & Bendtner, not far behind?

  118. Scott from Oz says:

If RVP goes, will Bemdtner be sold??
I’m not asking what people want to happen, but what they think will.

  119. rico says:

    Morning anyone 😉

I think Nikki is gone Scott, regardless of what happens with RvP, he has said too much about the club etc to have another chance – same with Denilson…

  120. Scott from Oz says:

I’d agree with you for sure on Denilson, but who really wants Bendtner and will pay him what he thinks he’s worth?
